I am so bad at this mountain biking thing. I’m terrified of every slightly too big rock. I stop and get off all the time. I keep shifting up when I should be downshifting. Im just really really not good.
But that’s ok. It’s hard to not get frustrated and angry, but the anger is propelling me to get better. I need a bit of this fire to keep going out there, but I also need to not take it out on s. He’s having a blast and I’m totally raining on his parade.
This reminds me a bit of skiing, I sucked at that so bad when I started, in fact I’ve been really bad at almost everything I’ve ever tried. At least I’m stubborn and determined and I know I can do better. As miserable and frustrating as it is, I’m hooked.

I was riding my bike home after work, and I had to cross a bridge. Right before I managed to get on, another woman on a bike got in front of me; which is fine, but she was very slow. I slowed down too. We were pedaling uphill so it's reasonable that she went very slow, but I like to go fast! So I decided to try and overtake her, but soon found out this was impossible. This woman was riding the bike in waves, like she was skiing. She would swerve to the left side of the sidewalk, and then when I would position myself to the right, she would also move to the right, and this kept happening. I was greatly amused by her technique and started to have fun just looking at her go; my bell was broken so I couldn't signal that I was behind her, she had no clue.
At one moment I got very close to overtaking her, and then I noticed, the Cause of her fun riding. She was eating a bagel. This woman was pedaling up the bridge and holding a bagel in one hand, and then leaning down to take a bite of it every few seconds! So every time she would take a bite, her entire bike would swerve to the side of the bagel, that's why she was changing the sides from left to right! As soon as I saw this I had to hold my breath to not explode in laughter; that was the most whimsical and hilarious thing I've seen all day. Imagine being her. Hacking up the biking and the eating and riding uphill and being an icon. She then noticed me (maybe I wasn't holding my breath well enough) and stopped to let me pass, and I cheerfully said thank you, to which she said that she got carried away, and I said it was fine! I zoomed forward and then burst out laughing. That really made me happy. Women doing practical and funny stuff in public is so wholesome.

youtube
Went to Chattanooga Tennessee to bike some trails this past Sunday. One area we went to was near the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. We got to see this Southern Railway 5000 Locomotive passenger train and even got a honk from the engine driver!

I think a lot of the mismag people who don’t like Brennan’s “Main Character Energy” forget that the system they’re playing with literally has a “Chosen One” in the building of the game. You can not really vibe with his character and be disappointed/more interested in the other characters, but from what he has said in behind the scenes and Adventuring Party stuff, Brennan loves DnD and rarely has a chance to be a player instead of a DM.
I just really hate seeing people punish a storyteller for wanting to tell a story.
