I made it to Season 3...! 🎉

~MINOR SPOILERS ALERT~

Episode 2x18 Funny (but oh-so-cheesy) introduction of the new sheriff lol. It took me awhile to shake off Dean (in his usual law enforcement persona) and see Beau.

SPN reference: Naming his cars. This time, it's Pedro!

First impressions: Despite being a bit Dean-ish at times, Beau Arlen was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise mediocre season.

Thoughts on Season 3 so far: – Not bad, quite an improvement from Season 2, especially in terms of character likability. – Luke Mitchell! ✨ The last time I saw him was on Marvel's Agents of Shield. – It was done off-screen but Jerrie and Lindor are a couple. Nice! – Scattered and veiled references to SPN. Is there a list somewhere or should I make one after I finish the show? – Too bad this season only has 13 episodes (if only we could trade number of episodes with Season 2).

Did Beau lose...a sibling possibly?

This is just a guess I'm throwing out into the void but...did Beau lose his brother? Is that who he lost? Possibly due to some shady business or related to the job? That's twice now that he's mentioned him, once per episode, and he always does it in a moment where he can play it off to Hoyt as him joking around/indulging nostalgia.

Just got up to the first episode of Big Sky with Beau. It is so surreal watching Jensen be someone who is a tiny bit like Dean but also very much not like Dean 😆

Wasn't a fan of Beau being a dick about Poppernack's name. Not funny to be the new acting boss and making it a joke about forgetting someone's name multiple times.

But he got better as the episode went on. It actually got less surreal too, I think once Beau wasn't annoying me I was more happy to accept it 😆

Watching Jensen Ackles as Beau Arlen in Big Sky was a teensy bit surreal as it took me awhile to see Beau, instead of Dean the Sheriff. It didn't help matters that they scattered (veiled) references to Supernatural in a handful of episodes.

Here are the ones I spotted:

Names his car [2x18] "No, no, I keep trying to go in there, but something always seems to stop me. Today it was Pedro. Sprung a leak on me."

Gives salt as a housewarming gift [3x02] "And you're, uh, always protected."

Has a sounds-like-trouble brother [2x18] "Shoot, you should meet my brother." [3x01] "I used to have something like this when I was a kid, till my brother ripped its head off, and then I put him in a headlock, and Mom beat the crap out of both of us." [3x04] "Interesting antiques. My brother used to drag me to places like this when we were kids."

Occasionally calls Cassie Dewell Cass but it was in 3x13 that really brought it home [3x04] "Hey, Cass." [3x12] "You were right, Cass. Bunker near the hearts." [3x13] "Okay. I'm gonna call Cass. I want her on this with us. Let's move."
