Caffeine and Women's Health
For context
The Gender Gap in Caffeine's Impact
Caffeine affects women more significantly than men, yet most research (about 75%) is focused on men. These are caffeine's unique effects on women:
Slower Detoxification: Women metabolize caffeine more slowly than men, and the rate varies with their menstrual cycle:
Luteal Phase: Half-life of caffeine is ~7 hours.
Follicular Phase: Half-life is ~5.5 hours.
Birth Control Use: Women on birth control take twice as long to clear caffeine.
Cumulative Impact: Daily caffeine builds up in women’s systems, making subsequent cups more impactful on their glands, organs, and nervous system.
Different Physical Reactions: Studies show:
Caffeine raises women’s body temperature but lowers men’s.
Women feel more tired, disorganized, and perform worse on cognitive tasks after caffeine than men.
Stronger Stress Responses: Women experience higher stress hormone levels than men under similar conditions, leading to greater health risks, including cardiovascular issues and memory decline.
Edit: I got this from a book I was reading. Caffeine Blues: Chapter 6 - Caffeine and Women's Health

can u talk a bit more about working as a bibliographer? like what does that actually entail?
so the bibliography i worked at was affiliated with the major academic professional society of my subfield, and the society sponsors the bibliography as a kind of sister publication to their journal. this means 1) we were almost exclusively grant-funded, and 2) the staff positions at the bibliography go to grad students. there are jobs in bibliography and related information sciences that are not exclusive to academics/grad students, but i can't really tell you anything about them personally; i had this job as a graduate research assistant (ie this was what i did to get my paycheck for two years instead of TAing).
anyway the purpose of a bibliography like this that's affiliated with a journal or subfield is usually to aggregate data on what's published in that journal or subfield. ours was aimed at capturing the whole subfield. so, the bulk of the staff job is to comb through recent academic publications (journal articles & books) and pull anything that's topically relevant. we add the abstract and metadata to the bibliography (meaning basically a searchable database) and then we do subject tagging. this is the most fun part because you have to think about how knowledge is categorised and what's most useful to a user and whatnot.
so like let's say i'm entering an article from the journal of the history of psychiatry. i already pulled the metadata from the online journal listing and put it through zotero, which then talks to the bibliography's back end. i do the authority control (link it with the author's other publications in our bibliography, and with some external identity profile like viaf or orcid). i link it to the journal in our database and make sure it has the right date, page numbers, etc. this article is about philippe pinel, so its main category tag is probably 'psychiatry - 19th century'. then i aim for 5–10 additional subject tags, maybe 'france, metropolitan', 'psychiatric hospitals and institutions', 'therapy and therapeutic methods', 'philosophy of medicine', 'nosology and diagnosis', 'pitié-salpetrière hospice', etc.
once this is all entered, the article is searchable by any of its metadata, by going to the author's profile in our database, or by those subject and category tags. institutions (universities, libraries, hospitals, etc) all have their own authority controls too. you can browse the database by data, by subject tag, by searching keywords, etc; it also has a few visualisation tools that show strongly associated subject tags, histograms of a person's or publisher's history of publication, etc. this all means that things are more easily discoverable than they might be, and once you've found them you can also browse related things easily, or look at some provisional info on the state of publications in the field.
because this bibliography was affiliated with a journal, we also used to publish a yearly print edition with the entries published in the last year (this was satisfying to hold but honestly way less functional than the online database version lol) and we also published a special edition of bibliographic / historiographic essays on pandemics that i worked as managing editor for. idk how common this would be at other kinds of bibliographic job positions; we used the same publisher as the sister journal, so mostly all i had to do was correspond with people and deal with typesetting. anyway once that was published we also added those articles to the bibliography itself too.
anyway super fun job tbh, like a lot of it is data entry but haggling over subject tags was honestly enjoyable if you like that kind of thing. i lost the battle to add "total institutions" as a subject tag but won when i said we needed to revamp our system for entries dealing with weight management; as a result those subject tags are now clearer and more useful, and capture scientific discourses about both 'underweight' and 'overweight'. our best tag imo was "controversies and disputes", which was like a catch-all for any time there was some kind of haterism in the literature. it kind of changed how i view knowledge categorisation (like, the process; philosophy-of) and because we spent so much time reading abstracts to tag them, we would basically have walking encyclopedic knowledge of recent publishing in the field.
some of this functionality can ofc be replicated in library catalogues or google scholar or whatever, but the real value-add is the subject tagging and the relationships between those terms; this is where the bibliography is useful both for finding things and for showing an additional layer of information about the field and publishing in it. lots of academic fields have some equivalent of this, although i will say that our database was generally better (in the sense of more data and useful detail) than others i've used; it was a well-funded project run by a very dedicated prof who's been doing this for over 20 years now, and that continuity and institutional memory is really paying off for it.
but yeah if this is generally something that interests you, like i said, this is really just one specific form of bibliographic work. definitely look into what else is out there (i dunno how much of this would require a degree like an mlis even) and see what you think :)

Elaborate. Please
//Alright, this is gonna be a big one, but I promise you it's worth it.
//So, recently, I got into the lore of the Hearts Of Iron IV mod The New Order: Last Days Of Europe, which is probably the most interesting Axis victory timeline I've ever seen. One of it's most compelling details is that the Soviet Union collapsed into a series of warlord states and there are various powers vying for control.
//One of these men is Sergey Taboritsky, whose victory leads to one of the worst possible outcomes for Russia. This was a man who was so violently ashamed of his Jewish heritage that he tried to pass himself off as a German Russian and sided with the nazis during World War II. Seeing the chaos that happens in-game, I asked myself, "Boy, I wonder what this guy did IRL."
//I was not ready for the answer.
//During the Russian Revolution, there were also various powers vying for their own goals in Russia: republicans, monarchists, communists, anarchists, ethnic nationalists, etc. Taboritsky was a far-right pro-monarchist journalist at the time, and together, alongside fellow far-right journalist Pyotr Shabelsky-Bork, they decided to carry out an assassination attempt on a leader of the democratic party-in-exile: Pavel Milyukov.
//Milyukov was a liberal and was pro-democracy, and these two saw him as their best target to avenge the crown. On March 28, 1922, these took some drugs and went on their revenge mission armed with revolvers.
//However, they were stopped by one of Milyukov's companions that day: Russian criminologist, journalist and progressive statesman, Vladimir Dmitrievich Nabokov. After he disarmed Shabelsky-Bork, Taboritsky shot Nabokov three times at point blank range, with one shot hitting him in the heart.
//Both men would be arrested, but our story then shifts to the impact this death would have on his son, Vladimir Vladimirovich Nabokov. So much so that he never returned to Russia, and instead remained in Berlin, where he became an accomplished writer and became engaged to Véra Evseyevna Sloni.
//However, in 1936, due to rising antisemitism in Europe, which cost his wife her job, and Taboritsky himself being appointed as deputy head of Germany's Russian-émigré bureau, Nabokov and most of his family moved to France and later the United States.
//Nabokov later became interested in entomology, and between 1948 and 1953, on butterfly-collecting trips in the Western U.S., he worked on his most famous book, with Véra as "secretary, typist, editor, proofreader, translator and bibliographer; his agent, business manager, legal counsel and chauffeur; his research assistant, teaching assistant and professorial understudy"
//And if you're familiar with the name, you probably know where this is going. If you're not, in 1953, they published Lolita.
//Lolita is, in my opinion, one of the most misunderstood works in the English language. Many mistakenly believe that it's meant to be a romance, when it's really about what people in power believe they can get away with and the justifications they use to rationalize it to themselves even when they know it's wrong. Both perspectives have had a major impact on pop culture, as Lolita has been adapted into two films, a musical, four stage-plays, one completed opera, and two ballets, along with various incomplete works.
//And in turn, the romance perspective has had a major role on later generations of writers. In many ways, it's reinforced unhealthy, toxic ideas about what makes a good romance: excessive drama, massive age gaps, women villainized for "leading men on", and attempts at making truly despicable men sympathetic. The things that have made writers like EL James, Ana Todd, and Colleen Hoover both successful and highly infamous.
//In other words, everything wrong with the modern romance genre can, at least in some respect, be traced back to Taboritsky's decision to try and assassinate Milyukov over a century ago.
//Life is weird and time is built upon itself.

what’s good, friends, foes and family! this is:
Your Everyday Guide To Calodian Politics
before i can give you the lowest of downs on the shitty political system in place right now and calodian political beliefs and whatnot, you first need to know how it works.
SO:
we do not live in a democracy.
–> calodia has a sort of parliamentary monarchy - where the emperor (ew) is the theoretical and cultural head of state, and the guoshia* actually make state decisions. we don't elect any of these people
-> the only thing we have a say in is the vote for thr dynasty that rules, and that only happens every one hundred years. the last time one happened, i hadn't even hatched! according to certain sources (goirw), the elections are usually rigged towards the favorite of the nobles and aristocracy.
2. the guoshia*
-> formed of the heads of every guild. these guys make actual policy decisions. they approve and ratify the proposals for every single proposal from the guilds. they hold all the power and they're all aelves
3. the guilds.
-> there are five guilds, and every single job in calodia is categorized into one of these guilds. the guilds are: the financiers (ew), the veneratum, the scribes (us!), the artisans, and the smiths.
-> the heads of these guilds are: the judiciary for the financiers, the chief veneratum for the... uh. you know. the bibliographer for the scribes, the master for the artisans and the mechanicier for the smiths.
-> the financiers are the most powerful of all the guilds, and control the courts and treasury. the veneratum study and regulate majic, and are the second most powerful. the scribes control the archives, literature, science and education. the artisans deal with anything cultural and culturally important. the smiths’ domain is in infrastructure, architecture, military and anything to do with making stuff for functional purposes.
-> the financiers influence most decisions, but the artisans and scribes control all depictions, discourses and narratives, so the actual power belongs to them.
-> the guilds are mostly controlled by noble families, and its pretty rare when a non-noble becomes a guildhead. usually though, the guildheads are mostly just figureheads for their families and enact their policies, with intraguild elections being mostly vapid popularity contests.
currently, the emperor is vanyuo iii of the myng dynasty. he's more liberal than previous emperors but he's still dastardly cunt**, so don't trust anyone who backs him wholeheartedly. very creaturist, particularly anti-goblin and anti-orcean but he hates everyone who's not an aelf, honestly. just because he's trying to legalize intercreature marriage doesn't mean he's not endorsing shittier movements.
the judiciary right now is ruong velian. he's probably the the most aelvenist-aligned judiciary we've had in millennia.
the chief veneratum is ceijuing kawaixi. she's basically velian in blue.
the current bibliographer is tenxin tsaanwïa. he's korixe’s uncle or something. he's probably the most liberal of all of the guildheads, but he's also flimsy as fuck. if the rest of the tsaanwïa family (minus korixe because i trust her mostly) pressure him, the tides could always turn.
the master is jelpyng cen. poor poor creature. they're definitely in over their head, and very obviously a puppet for their family.
the mechanicier was elected yesterday, and i’m kinda glad the old one's out of office. the new guy, zheruan xiortun, says he'll put more focus on infrastructure over bolstering the military, which is good because half the roads in wyvera aren't even walkable.
your resident menace,
~ loggyn ★
{translator's notes:
{*this is an untranslatable word but the closest equivalent is parliament or senate, which doesn't really capture the nature of what the guoshia is.
{**this is the closest translation of a goblin vulgarism. even though it does not have the same meaning, it is the only word i could find that was of a similar intensity.
{– loggyn uses a lot of giblex expressions when they write, so much of the slang they seem to be using in this post are approximations of giblexisms that they use frequently. i might write a whole post on their language specifically >:).}

wanted to repost this book review mainly because I think I made a pretty cool book photo.
SHE WALKS IN SHADOWS Edited by Silvia Moreno-Garcia & Paula R. Stiles.
H.P.Lovecraft’s fiction didn’t include many women. Not, I think, out of sexism, but more because nearly all of his protagonists were reflections of himself: bookish scholars or sensitive creative men of Anglo-Saxon descent from New England.
The few women who do appear in his works offer intriguing story possibilities, though. There’s the lonely, bookish Lavinia Whateley from “The Dunwich Horror”; the enigmatic gorgon-lamia Marceline from “Medusa’s Coil”; body-swapping Asenath Waite of “The Thing on the Doorstep” (who is AFAB and presents female, but could also be considered a trans man depending on one’s interpretation), and more. “She Walks in Shadows” explores these characters and other aspects of the Lovecraft mythos from a feminine perspective.
With many anthologies the stories can be hit or miss. Some good tales alongside average stories. Though, admittedly, which stories are “good”, “bad” or just “mediocre” is highly dependent on the reader’s own tastes. With that in mind, I’m pleased to say that I found most stories in this anthology enjoyable. Each is different in tone, subject, and style, yet each offers an intriguing facet to Lovecraftian horror.
In many of these tales there is another strain of fear paralleling cosmic horror- the mortal fear of being controlled, undermined and ignored by people who have more power. A fear that all too many women- cis, trans, nonbinary, and otherwise- can understand.
One thing that can make this anthology difficult is the fact that it’s often necessary to have read the original stories to fully understand what’s going on. This is especially true for stories based on more obscure works such as “Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family”, and Lovecraft collaborations like “Medusa’s Coil”, and “The Mound”. It’s not a good starting place for newcomers looking to explore the mythos writing of other authors beyond the Old Man of Providence’s tales, but it is a rewarding read for those who have already waded deep into that dark cosmos.
Some of the stories that particularly stood out for me include:
“De Deabus Minoribus Exterioris Theomagicae” by Jilly Dreadful. Certainly the most stylistically interesting piece. Written as a bibliographic study by a PhD candidate. The actual story unfolds through numbered notes within the paper. Its structure is reminiscent of the subtle “clerical” horror of an SCP Foundation entry.
“Hairwork” by Gremma Files is a sequel to Medusa’s Coil, a story that Lovecraft ghostwrote for Zelia Bishop. The original tale had interesting potential that was undone by its ridiculously racist ending. This new work, however, reframes the narrative to create a powerful, interesting twist.
“T’la-yub’s Head” by Nelly Geraldine Garcia-Rosas combines Mesoamerican myth and history with the lost world of K’n-yan, found beneath an earth mound in the ghost-written story, The Mound.
She Walks in Shadows is a fantastic collection of stories exploring the female side of the mythos available through Innsmouth Free Press.

Virtuous Lie: 1619 Project (subthread):
Tumblr media
==
I've posted on most if not all of these before, and yet I wonder how many people still take the "truth" of these as articles of faith, regardless of what evidence is prevented.
When I say "faith," I'm not being hyperbolic here either. It's the same process as religious beliefs. They'll say their beliefs are true, when you prevent evidence, they'll ignore it until they can't any more, then shift gear and insist that their beliefs are "helpful" - i.e. Virtuous Lie. If you have to abandon your truth claim in order to sustain your belief, then you already know it's not true.

No dont bait people into going off anon, i want to see your sources too. Idk why ur getting defensive and weird some of us are trying to learn and make informed decisions and only one side has posted sources and is making a compelling argument. But you reacted strongly so maybe if theres something we should know you should share your info dont you think?

the photo in circulation can be dated to 1975-1976, when PLO controlled Wadi Abu Jamil, and the shelling that took place in that district - leading to the collateral damage that ruined the synagogue - took place in 1982, according to this book by Robert Fisk:
multiple sources regarding the presence of the PLO in Wadi Abu Jamil in 1982, making it the target of IDF attack: x x
archived washington post article also reiterating PLO presence in Wadi Abu Jamil
the movement of PLO into vacated homes, buildings, and synagogues previously occupied by Lebanese Jews, again providing evidence for the targeting of Wadi Abu Jamil by the IDF, as well as documentation of harassment of Jews in that district previous to the 1982 war, found in this book by Kirsten Schulze:
here is the oldest source I can find with the original image of the PLO fighters outside the synagogue, which does not bear any cited information whatsoever!
my reluctance to post sources easily attributed to the fact that ive been getting asks in my inbox calling me a fascist jew because i dared to question the circulation of misinformation! and that gives me a lot of grounds, actually, to not be compliant or agreeable. kill yourselves! additionally you can rot in the ground for calling a screenshot of a 1982 new york times article and a handful of blurry, uncited photographs "compelling". Keep your mouth open, infant, and they will keep spoonfeeding you propaganda.

okay I normally don’t comment on the tags, but I am SO curious now: somehow welsh? Could you possibly elaborate? It’s okay if you can’t; this is purely fascinated curiosity. That’s just…a very unexpected comment and I love it and am baffled by it in equal measure
I have held off on answering this because I wanted to find the actual exact quote but alas I have lost bibliographic control of my life so in paraphrase: it is from a play called The History Boys by Alan Bennet and it is said by a highly dislikeable character (the Headmaster) eulogizing a highly complicated character (Hector) and for some reason it has stuck with me as a weirdly evocative phrase to use to tag my literary reblogs with

Accelerating Digital Transformation with Cloud Migration and Integrated IT systems
Smarter Integration can be deployed within any business or organization across all industries and sectors to provide a hybrid integration connectivity-as-a-service solution. It can be implemented agilely iteratively, as organizations do not need upfront infrastructure, software, or resource skills to get started.
Cloud Migration
From planning and designing a cloud migration strategy to accelerating the process and optimizing for ongoing performance, Smarter Integration helps ensure and measure the success of your cloud migration projects. The Smarter Integration platform helps engineering teams understand existing infrastructure and application architecture to ensure an effective and cost-efficient cloud migration strategy.
1. Leverage insights to assess which cloud-native technologies, such as Kubernetes or serverless functions, are best suited to your needs.
2. Map dependencies, patterns, and usage with Smartscape before refactoring applications.
3. Make informed decisions about architecting microservices and prioritizing workload migration.
Integrated IT systems
An integrated IT system is a system that combines different software and hardware modules into a single infrastructure. The goal is to make the systems work smoothly and share information and processes more efficiently. In an IT context, Integration refers to the result of a process that aims to combine different -- often disparate -- subsystems so that the data contained in each becomes part of a larger, more comprehensive system that, ideally, quickly and easily shares data when needed.
An Integrated Information System refers to a system that combines various databases, web-based information retrieval systems, and bibliographic and full-text systems to provide efficient control and access to different types of information formats and library collections.
Digital Transformation Strategy
Businesses are under greater pressure than ever to provide the best possible digital experience—not just for their customers but also for their staff and partners. However, many IT departments are still concerned with maintaining legacy systems, and senior management often does not understand what digital transformation strategy in the retail sector involves.
This creates the need for closer Integration between IT departments and business units. To deliver what the customer wants, businesses are increasingly turning to self-service solutions, allowing business units to build and maintain their own applications.

OMNICHANNEL APPROACH IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PATIENT SUPPORT PROGRAMS
The main trends of modem health care include: consumerization, optimization of resources, transparency of medical services processes, and uberization. Medical marketing is one of the most complex types of marketing due to the fact that it has a social orientation regardless of the form of ownership of a medical organization and type of stakeholder. Transformation of healthcare based on the value-based approach proposed by M. Porter, makes industry stakeholders reconsider their strategies, adapting them to the needs of end consumers - patients. Patient support programs (PSP) are widely used abroad and have proven their effectiveness as a social marketing tool. However, the PPPs are not widespread enough due to the lack of systematic approaches to their implementation and effectiveness measurement. For a wider application of the programs as a marketing tool, it is necessary to adapt them to the industry practice, as well as to use them in combination with other approaches, such as omnichannel marketing.
Omni-channel marketing is a type of marketing that involves combining multiple channels of communication into a single strategy for "Seamless" interaction with the target audience [Ibid.] This approach allows to improve the quality of interaction with the target audience, increase the effectiveness of communication strategy, increase sales and loyalty. The basic principles of omnichannel marketing include: consistency, a single control center, and efficiency evaluation [Ibid]. In the course of the project realization a series of in-depth interviews were conducted. Within the framework of the research tasks, the methods of bibliographic and information search, regulating methodological approaches, general logical methods, synthesis and analysis of information, analysis of trends and normative legal documents were used.
Results of the study
The company - a manufacturer of technical rehabilitation devices for disorders of excretory function, a market leader - decided that it was necessary to develop a patient support program to increase accessibility and knowledge about the benefits of the method, product and brand, as well as to create additional value in the perception of patients and the medical community. The promotion of medical devices has a number of restrictions, which forces most market players to focus their promotional activity on medical professionals rather than patients. The need to find new ways of communication with the consumer in addition to the "classic" in medicine marketing and advertising campaigns became the basis for the development and implementation of PPPs on the market. More than 90% of marketing activity of manufacturers of medical devices, equipment, dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals, as a rule, is aimed at working with medical specialists and educational activities. Typically, the costs of marketing activities in a healthcare company are allocated as shown in Figure 1.
Tumblr media
It can be seen that the costs of visits of medical representatives to doctors to promote and present the company's products account for up to 63% of the total costs of the company's advertising activities, while current trends show:
1) decrease in the doctor's time for communication with the patient in recent years. In practice, a doctor has an average appointment time of 18 minutes, with 35% of this time spent on documentation. This means that the doctor does not have enough time to discuss all the details and answer the patient's numerous questions; 2) Increasing patient awareness and accessibility of medical information for patients through the Internet; 3) Improving the general literacy of patients, especially patients with chronic diseases, who are self-educated due to lack of information from doctors; 4) legal restrictions on the work of company representatives with medical specialists.
Due to the general trend towards a value-oriented approach in healthcare and the increasing importance of the patient's opinion, the company decided to reallocate its marketing budget in favor of activities aimed directly at patients. One of the types of patient oriented marketing in healthcare is patient support programs, which have proven their effectiveness and applicability. The Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers has developed recommendations for the implementation of PPPs. A patient support program is an activity or a system of activities initiated, organized, conducted and/or financed by health care companies independently or with the involvement of third parties (organizations), which provides patients with material assistance and/or information about the disease and (or) its treatment to patients, i.e. individuals who are properly diagnosed and treated and/or individuals who care for them [Ibid]. There are financial, informational and combined SPTs. With a PPP, a company can work not only with current patients, but also attract new patients by providing additional value. The most common goals for a company to launch a PPP include the following:
attracting new patients through additional lead magnets from the PPT;
Increasing conversions from interested patients to buyers through additional "warming up";
Increasing the LTV (Lifetime Value) of the customer or patient through constant communication. The cost of attracting patients is constantly increasing, so it is important to focus not only on new patients, but also on retaining current patients;
creating their own patient communication platform. Due to the high competition on the Internet, the importance of own media and communities is increasing;
increasing loyalty on the part of the medical community by strengthening the brand and creating an image of a reliable and caring partner.
The plan for the establishment of the 8 PT included the following key milestones: 1) Creating a portrait of the patient and identifying their needs and values; 2) Creating a patient pathway map; 3) Identifying communication channels at each stage of the patient journey; 4) unification of communication channels on the basis of omnichannel approach; 5) Creating a marketing funnel and sales funnel; 6) marketing communications automation.
Patient portrait
Patient profile: male, 18 years of age or older, with urinary retention caused by spinal cord injury and spinal cord injuries, who wishes to maintain an active lifestyle with the existing disease. Once the diagnosis is established, the patient should be granted disability and receive the products free of charge through the Social Insurance Fund (SIF). A series of in-depth interviews were conducted to launch the PPT:
with patients - residents of Moscow to determine their needs for medical and non-medical assistance at all stages of rehabilitation. To investigate patients' values, an infonnalized interview with open-ended questions was conducted between July and August 2020. Patients' answers were recorded on paper for further processing. Minimization of the logical volume of patients (i = 23) of budgetary medical organizations (polyclinics) of the city was achieved during the translation of the program question of the research into operational questions. Inter- viewing was conducted by a marketer who was trained in interviewing techniques in advance. For this purpose, sub-questions were extracted from the questions of large logical volume, which were subject to formalized closure;
with district general practitioners (n = 12) whom patients visited for referral for medical and social expert assessment. Interviews were conducted in the field between July and August 2020. A series of in-depth interviews conducted with patients revealed that the main needs of patients are: 1) medical online counseling fortheir medical condition; 2) online legal advice on quick disability processing, paperwork; 3) obtaining product samples; 4) information support on how to use the company's product, where to purchase it, delivery and finding a doctor; 5) informational support on how to obtain special prices in the retail outlet for use of compensation in the Social Insurance Fund; 6) Information support on sexuality, childbirth, travel, sports, etc.
Patient pathway (client pathway map)
Customer journey mapping is widely used in medicine today as a tool to increase patient adherence to treatment. The pathway map helps to describe and predict the risks of patient loss and to manage the points of contact between the patient and the doctor, allowing to create the most effective system of patient recovery and rehabilitation.
The typical pathway of a patient with a back injury and subsequent urinary retention, based on interviews with patients and medical professionals, is as follows (Figure 2).
Tumblr media
As a result of an injury or accident, a patient is admitted to the surgical department of a health care institution (HCP). In more than 70% of cases, patients have chronic urinary retention. The urologist issues a discharge epicrisis with a recommendation on products and disability registration. Further 80% of patients are discharged home, while 20%, with the most severe injuries, are first sent to a rehabilitation center for recovery. In order to register a disability and to be eligible for free technical rehabilitation aids (the company's product), the patient must apply to the polyclinic at the place of residence, undergo a medical commission and receive an 088U form1 . Based on the documents received, the patient applies to the medical and social expertise (MSE) at the place of residence to obtain an IPRA2 . After receiving the IPRA, the patient applies to the Social Insurance Fund and receives the products at the point of issue.
Determination of marketing and sales objectives, selection of communication channels
Based on the patient profile and the described customer journey, the target communication channels were identified (Table 1).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Table 1 shows that the AIDA model correlates with the stages of the patient's journey, making it possible to correlate the process of the actual movement of the patient along the stages of the client's journey with his or her possible needs and desires. An important element of using the AIDA model when working with patients is the use of its modification - the AIDAR model [8], which includes the following elements: A (attention) - attention; I (interest) - interest; D (desire) - desire; A (action) - action; R (retention) - return. At the first stage, the main goal of marketing is to attract the patient's attention and select advertising platforms. The main channels of communication with such patients include medical specialists, social networks, blogs, forums, online stores with relevant products.
In the second phase, the primary goal of marketing is to articulate the value proposition to patients and determine formats for delivering information (brochures, webinars, informational materials). At the third stage - identifying potentially target patients, implementing value propositions through external lead generation channels: attracting patients through webinars; through downloading lead magnets (brochures, checklists, videos, etc.); through making an appointment for a consultation with a doctor, psychologist, lawyer, etc. The fourth stage is patient conversion and qualification. If the patient has already been prescribed a method and is using the product, he/she is moved to the category of "active customers". If the patient has not yet been to a doctor, the task is to marshal the patient for a diagnosis (see next step). In the fifth stage, the goal of marketing is to ensure that the product is purchased. In order for a patient to purchase the company's product, it is necessary for the doctor to recommend a certain method of urine diversion, and only then is a specific product selected. The goal of the stage is to help the patient reach a qualified physician who will diagnose and select the product. A list of regional doctors and hospitals, consultations via telemedicine, and product samples are used. In cases where the patient finds it difficult to make a decision, the target action of marketing is additional "warming up" of the client through email communications. In the sixth stage, the company's task is to satisfy the customer through the company's complementary products. This requires increasing the patient's knowledge of the options and products to improve quality of life.
The seventh stage requires systematic work with existing clients -focus on the current base and retention of patients on the method, product; increasing loyalty. Marketing objectives at this stage are: 1) increasing the average check by increasing the patient's knowledge of additional skin care products. This is where detailed segmentation is appropriate, creating "personalized" offers; 2) Maintaining regular sales by being present in the patient's life and reminding them of the benefits of the company's product; 3) developing brand loyalty through articles, webinars, meetings, loyalty programs.
Combining communication channels based on an omnichannel approach
Due to the large number of patient contact points and communication channels, and in order to integrate all communication channels into a single patient-centered strategy, an omnichannel approach was used. "Seamless" interaction with the target audience was realized on the amoCRM platform. As part of the omnichannel strategy, information about all patients is accumulated through:
A website with pages of lead magnets, webinars and application forms;
direct phone requests;
messengers and social media.
Marketing communications automation is implemented through CRM. Based on the patient portrait and its deeper segmentation, auxiliary services are connected for marketing communications: SMS-dispatches, messengers, email service, API-telephony. All identified patient values were packaged into marketing products, included in the patient support program and distributed along the patient pathway.
Conclusion
Fundamental changes in approaches and processes of health care delivery require the introduction of new organizational models to achieve accessibility of medical care while containing the costs of its provision. Patient support programs as an institutional phenomenon take over some of the functions of the health care institution in drug provision, diagnosis, training of medical personnel and patients, and infrastructural support. The article shows that the key steps in creating patient support programs using an omnichannel approach are as follows.
Study of the target audience (patients), creation of a consumer portrait and its segmentation for the purpose of further personalization of marketing communications.
Customer journey mapping CJM (customer journey map) and its modification PJM (patient journey map) allow to describe the touch points, which helps to develop a plan of marketing activities at each stage of the customer's purchase decision.
The choice of communication channels should be based on the CJM and the portrait of the potential customer. Practice shows that CJM should be integrated into the AIDA model or its modification - the AIDAR model.
Setting up CRM based on an omni-channel approach is necessary to integrate all communication channels within a single patient oriented strategy. "Seamless interaction with the target audience allows building omnichannel sales funnels, tracking the history of interactions with each customer, and storing customer information.
Communication with the client (patient) should be personalized and tailored to the values of patients at a particular stage of their client journey.
Analyzing the results of communications allows you to fine-tune sales funnels and improve your communications strategy.

QUICK GUIDE TO GET ISBN FOR SELF-PUBLISHING AUTHORS
An International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a unique identifier for children's books, serving as a critical tool in the publishing and library industries. It comprises 10 or 13 digits and is used to distinguish one book from another, making it easier to manage, distribute, and sell books worldwide.
The concept of ISBNs was introduced in the late 1960s to address the growing need for a standardized identification system for books. Before ISBNs, book identification was a complex and error-prone process, especially for books with similar titles or by different publishers. The ISBN system was developed to ease these issues and streamline the book supply chain.
The ISBN comprises specific components that convey valuable information about the book, its publisher, and its edition. While a thousand words may not be necessary to explain ISBNs, breaking down the essential elements will provide a comprehensive understanding:
Prefix: The ISBN begins with a country or language identifier. This prefix helps identify the location or language in which the book is published. Different countries and language groups have their prefixes, ensuring that each ISBN is unique worldwide.
Registrant Element: Following the prefix is the registrant element, which designates the particular publisher or entity responsible for publishing the book. This part is assigned by an ISBN agency or organization in each country. It ensures that each publisher can have a unique identifier for their books.
Publication Element: The publication element is a unique code assigned to each proper book within a publisher's catalog. It distinguishes different editions, formats, or versions of the same title. For example, a hardcover edition may have a unique publication element than the paperback version of the same book.
Check Digit: The last digit of an ISBN is a check digit, calculated based on the preceding digits. It is used to detect errors in the ISBN and ensure its accuracy when scanning or entering the number manually.
The transition from the original 10-digit ISBN to the 13-digit ISBN occurred in the early 2000s to accommodate the increasing complexity of the publishing industry. The 13-digit ISBN includes all the essential information found in the 10-digit version but offers an expanded capacity to handle the growing number of books and digital publications. It also aligns with the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) standard, allowing ISBNs to be used for other products like e-books.
ISBNs are crucial for a variety of reasons:
Identification: They provide a clear and unique identifier for each book, preventing confusion between different editions or publications.
Inventory Management: ISBNs facilitate the tracking and management of books in libraries and bookstores, making it easier to organize and locate specific titles.
Marketing and Sales: ISBNs are used in marketing and sales processes, allowing booksellers and distributors to accurately order and sell books.
Global Distribution: ISBNs enable books to be easily distributed internationally, as they are recognized and standardized worldwide.
Cataloging and Bibliographic Control: Libraries and bibliographic databases use ISBNs to catalog books, creating a standardized system for finding and accessing information.
Digital Publications: ISBNs are also used for e-books and digital publications, helping to distinguish them from their print counterparts.
Intellectual Property Rights: ISBNs play a role in copyright protection and licensing agreements, helping to establish ownership and usage rights.
Accessibility and Discovery: They aid readers in discovering and obtaining specific books, whether through online retailers, libraries, or other sources.
Tumblr media
In summary, ISBNs are a vital component of the modern book industry, ensuring that books are easily identified, distributed, and made accessible to readers worldwide. They simplify the process of cataloging, selling, and locating books, contributing to the seamless functioning of the global publishing ecosystem.
To get an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) for a children's book or publication, you need to follow these steps:
Determine if You Need an ISBN: SBNs are mainly used to identify books and they are not required for all types of publications. In many countries, ISBNs are used for books, e-books, and children’s book. If you are publishing other types of materials like brochures, pamphlets, children’s book or magazines, you may not need an ISBN. Check the guidelines in your country to see if your publication requires an ISBN.
Identify the Publisher or Publisher Identifier: ISBNs are typically assigned to publishers, not individual authors or self-publishers. If you are a self-publisher or an author seeking an ISBN, you can still obtain one. However, you may need to identify yourself as the publisher. In some cases, self-publishing platforms may offer ISBNs as part of their services.
Locate Your National ISBN Agency: Each country has a National ISBN Agency responsible for assigning ISBNs. You can find the ISBN agency for your country by searching online or visiting the International ISBN Agency's website.
Contact the ISBN Agency: Reach out to your country's ISBN agency to apply for an ISBN. They will guide you through the process and provide you with the necessary forms and instructions. In some countries, you may be able to apply online.
Provide Required Information: You will need to provide information about your publication when applying for an ISBN. This information may include: Title of the book or publication
Author(s) or editor(s)
Publisher's name and address (or your information if you are the publisher)
Edition, if applicable
Format (hardcover, paperback, e-book, etc.)
Language
Publication date
Estimated price
Pay Any Associated Fees: Some ISBN agencies charge a fee for assigning ISBNs, while others provide them for free. Be prepared to pay any applicable fees.
Receive Your ISBN: Once your application is processed and approved, you will receive your ISBN. Each ISBN is unique and identifies your publication worldwide.
Include the ISBN on Your Publication: You must include the ISBN on the copyright page of your book or publication. This ensures that it is easily discoverable by booksellers, libraries, and other interested parties.
Remember that ISBNs are typically associated with a specific edition of a publication. If you make significant changes to your children’s book or release a new edition, you may need a new ISBN.
It's essential to follow the specific guidelines and procedures outlined by your country's ISBN agency, as the process may vary from one country to another. If you plan to distribute your children’s book internationally, it's a good idea to get an ISBN for each edition in different countries where you intend to sell your publication.
The most important identifier your book can have the ISBN. As the U.S. ISBN Agency, Bowker is the ONLY official source of ISBNs in the United States. ISBNs provide unique identification for books and simplify the distribution of your books throughout the global supply chain. Overall, Bowker offers a wide range of solutions to assist the publishing community in transacting and being informed on the flow of digital and print books throughout the publishing ecosystem, including unique identifiers like ISBNs, barcodes, and SANs. Select Number of ISBNs: You will be given the option to purchase one ISBN or a larger quantity. Prices are usually cheaper if you buy more than one ISBN at a time.
Payment: After filling in all the required information, you will be directed to make payment. Be sure to check current prices, as fees for ISBNs may change over time.

Tumblr media
It is important to remember that having an ISBN is the responsibility of the publisher or author. Be sure to care for them and use them properly in all your book publishing. Additionally, here are some things to keep in mind:
The ISBN is unique for each children's book, so you will need different ISBNs for different print editions and e-books.
The ISBN purchase process through Bowker is legal and official in the US.
ISBN is an important element in book sales and worldwide distribution, so make sure you take care of it before publishing your book.

2018 Fic Year in Review
Scope note: I am including the WIPs I’ve posted to AO3 this year, and will also include them in future Years in Review for years in which new chapters are posted. Stories posted for Yuletide 2018 are included in this post. In 2018 I posted 13 complete stories and added chapters to two ongoing WIPs, for a total of over 284,000 words of fic posted in four fandoms. That is the fewest different stories I've posted in a complete year of fic-writing, ever, but, uh, one of them was the lion's share of TINSOB, so. I actually wrote just over 211,000 words of fic in 2018 (most of TINSOB was written before this year, but otoh I wrote the remaining TINSOB chapters and most of Slavefic #6 and haven't posted them yet, so.) My worst month was March, when I wrote less than 3,000 words of fic in the entire month (and then I got on some new brain meds) and my best month was October, when I wrote over 30,000 (helloooo Venom fandom!) This year’s titles quoted from The Mountain Goats (3), T. S. Eliot, Alan Jackson, Peter Gabriel, Daft Punk, Dan Fogelberg, and Linkin Park. (Fic list and a bunch of meme questions under the cut)
Check Please! Cuir et Peluche (Bitty/Jack, Explicit, kind-to-be-cruel BDSM, 15,391 words) A Forward Takeoff (Bitty gen, T, wolfbrotherhood in the American South, 7,717 words) Marvel Cinematic Universe Between the Motion and the Act (Bucky gen, T, Infinity War - The Snap, 333 words) The Way We Are Tied In (Steve & Avengers gen, T, Post-Infinity War Part 1, Wakanda after the Snap, Grief, 8,999 words) There Is No Shortage of Blood [Ongoing WIP: Chapters 16-54] (Bucky/Steve, Explicit, post-HYDRA, rape recovery, 182,445 words) Born in the Blood [Ongoing WIP: Chapters 15-16] (Steve/Sam, Steve/Bucky, edging warily toward Bucky/Steve/Sam, Explicit, babyfic, 10,295 words) Let the Truth Spring Free (All Eternals Deck #2, Bruce/Bucky, Bucky/Hulk, awkwardness, 16,428 words) Little Bitty World Goes Around and Around (Little Bitty #4, Bucky/Steve, T, ageplay, daddy kink, no sex, 3,535 words) Venom Cold Hands, Warm Heart (Eddie/Venom, T, Winter Cuteness, 1,306 words) Aide-Memoire (Eddie/Venom, Explicit, Amnesia, Tentacle Sex, 7,166 words) Work It Harder (Make It Better) (Eddie/Venom, Explicit, Tentacle Sex, 2,260 words) The One the Battles Always Choose (Eddie/Venom, Mature, suicidal ideation, 15,614 words) For a Song (Eddie/Venom, T, Discussions of Cannibalism and Morality, 5,119 words) Venom Versus Christmas (Eddie/Venom, OT4-ish, T, Yuletide gift for Okadiah, Christmas and Anti-Christmas, 4,571 words) The Thing in the Walls Wants Your Small Change The Giant in the Cavern Brings Copper and Silver and Gold (Dragon POV gen, G, Yuletide gift for donutsweeper, 3,172 words)
My best story this year: I mean, it's not technically quite done yet, but, uh, this is probably a slam dunk for There Is No Shortage of Blood. My favorite story this year: oh man, this is hard. "Aide-Memoire" or "The One the Battles Always Choose" probably? Or "The Way We Are Tied In" because I like to suffer? My most popular story this year: There Is No Shortage of Blood is of course running away with hits and comments, even when I isolate the hits and comments received in 2018. Two of my Venom stories actually got more kudos (since October!) than TINSOB received in all of 2018: "Cold Hands, Warm Heart" (2,200) and "Aide-Memoire" (2,078). Best hits-to-kudos ratio is my tiny-fandom Yuletide story, "The Giant in the Cavern Brings Copper and Silver and Gold" which has staggeringly received 1 kudos for every 2.73 hits. Most fun story to write: "Between the Motion and the Act" in a completely evil way, or "Work It Harder (Make It Better)". Story with the single sexiest moment: I guess, uh, it depends on how you feel about tentacles? Uh. "Cuir et Peluche" is probably the safe bet here. Story with the single sweetest moment: Aw, man, There Is No Shortage of Blood manages to pull off a lot of sweetness embedded in... everything else. "Cold Hands, Warm Heart" is ridiculously nothing but sweet, as is "Venom Versus Christmas". And... wow, I wrote a lot of sweetness this year, LIKE MAYBE I NEEDED IT?? THANKS, 2018. Story with the single saddest moment: "The Way We Are Tied In" Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Uh... I feel like this should probably be a Venom story?? But I can't really... tell...? My weirdest/kinkiest story as demonstrated by reader response: (I updated last year's spreadsheet for this so now I can compare YEAR ON YEAR, this is GREAT.) "Work It Harder (Make It Better)" won highest percentage of bookmarks kept private on AO3 (38%, less than last year's winner), and also had the largest ratio of kudos to comments (the "I like this but I don't want to talk about it" quotient, with almost 27 kudos per comment). My most startlingly wholesome story as demonstrated by reader response: "The Giant in the Cavern Brings Copper and Silver and Gold" has ZERO private bookmarks as of this writing, and "A Forward Takeoff," strikingly, has only 6% private bookmarks--last year I didn't have a single story with less than 20% private bookmarks. Hardest story to write: Oh, God. All of them, in the first three quarters of the year. Biggest surprise: Monsterfucking! This year’s theme and the story that demonstrates it most: Monsterfucking! Uhhh... man, I don't even know. Finishing things? I finished writing a bunch of things and got very close to finishing one more, and that's the strongest impression I have, but that's not really an in-story theme. Favorite opening line: Eric had certainly never expected to be wolf-bonded. from "A Forward Takeoff." Favorite closing line: From "Between the Motion and the Act": Maybe now we can both get some rest. What fests/exchanges/etc. did you participate in this year?: I wrote "Cuir et Peluche" for my Fandom Loves Puerto Rico auction winner, mara_jade, and I wrote two Yuletide stories--"Venom Versus Christmas" for Okadiah, and "The Giant in the Cavern Brings Copper and Silver and Gold" for donutsweeper.
