I’m delighted and horrified to find a hand-sewn endband on this bible from 1873. Most big books like this have pasted on endbands. We’re having a paste making party at the bindery tonight. We have a stack of new limp leather covers to make in the morning so are getting the adhesive ready. We prefer to make it on a double boiler so it’s the way we like it. We’re making clamshell boxes in the shop this morning. This tray is coming along along nicely and will protect a recently conserved bible.
