I saw bring back black in krabby’s post and it made me think: remus cheating on tonks with sirius and sirius GETS HIM PREGNANT
OH MY GOD
This is officially the most galaxy-brain take yes please. I would read the fuck out of this. Can you imagine???? Remus thought he'd be able to keep the affair secret for a while (For how long? Who knows, certainly not Remus! He hasn't thought that far ahead!) But then he starts experiencing morning sickness, and he takes a Muggle pregnancy test, and then he uses a pregnancy detecting spell on himself, and holy shit he's pregnant and it's definitely Sirius's. What the fuck is he going to tell his wife?? How is he going to tell Sirius??
(Joke's on him because Sirius is ecstatic and does not feel one ounce of guilt for A) sleeping with Remus while he's married, and B) knocking him up. Remus is his and now that he's pregnant, he's broadcasting it to the entire world.)

Note
nah they don't forget about bisexuality, they just say things like 'bi people exist but Remus isn't one of them' 🫠
Do we EXIST?! Are they SURE?!!!
Has anyone seen a bisexual in their natural habitat?
What curious creatures these bisexuals are... Schrödinger's bisexuals.

leather nymphadora tonks/various explicit | 3k words
tonks is familiar with pleasure, having been raised by a father who never thought it a crime to be greedy. this, she thinks, as she dresses, is more than that. it is euphoria.
war looms and tonks goes on a journey.
this piece was written for week seven of @ladiesofhpfest, on the theme of queer cuties [you can find the masterlist for this week's fics here].
it wasn't originally the story i planned to go with for this week of the fest [hopefully that will see the light of day at some point] but a series of helpful and illuminating conversations with friends put the plot bunny in my head.
author's notes under the cut
Tumblr media
i don't really read many of the canon pairings [all of which, save grindledore, are obviously het or het-passing] but i do occasionally dabble in a bit of remadora, and i've always been struck by the tension between stories which acknowledge the queerness inherent in both tonks' and remus' characterisation and those which consider them both as straight.
i understand that people's reasons for reading remadora as straight are multifaceted, particularly since it's appropriate to note that tonks gets treated with open misogyny in a lot of wolfstar-centric spaces, and a reaction to that which rejects the idea of remus as queer is understandable in that context. but i personally think we do ourselves a disservice not to explore the vast spectrum of human sexuality even with characters with an endgame het-passing pairing.
tonks has always given me bi vibes - and she's leaning into that here, having the time of her life, as she puts it, sampling from the buffet of human genitalia. but, more than that, i've always wondered at how the fact that she's a metamorphmagus must have affected her relationship with her own embodiment, and - above all - her relationship with her own gender identity.
after all, as she tells us, she possesses the power to try on a different body whenever she pleases, and these bodies include some which feel more male than others. that gender experimentation and play is a key part of leather, which leads to tonks being able to state with certainty who she is and what body she exists in. may we all be so lucky.
but the skin on tonks' body is not the only one we're focusing on here. she's exploring her sexuality through leather subculture, and learning along the way about how activism and courage looks very different for the queer women she encounters in leather spaces and the men she spends the rest of her time with in the aurors and the order.
she's also just being unapologetically horny, fucking her way round london, dealing with what a pillow princess fleur is [good for her!], wondering how every single person she knows likes to get railed, shipping snack, and maybe uncovering a teeny-tiny little hint at wolfstar. if you squint.

Yes exactly 😂
I also have an extension of this crack headcanon that the newest professor on staff each year gets stuck teaching sex ed to the third years and up, and during Remus's year the teen pregnancy rate goes up because the dude just has. no idea how babies are made.
I missed the sex ed chat yesterday because I was busy but I have a crack headcanon that Remus got Tonks pregnant because he didn't know that sex = baby okay thank you and goodnight.
Yes. Yes, I have thought about that as well. After all he had loads of sex with Sirius and it never resulted in a baby, so why would it now?
And then she tells him and he's like :o .... but we didn't do the insanely complicated ritual it takes to concieve a baby/we're not married??
And then he runs away bc he's like not my child I didn't do anything that leads to concieving a child, shoving my dick in you and that weird white stuff has nothing to do with that

chaotic book ramble so I can stop spiraling into the abyss: my childhood favorite books that I've been thinking about lately
I start college in four days, where I'll be pursuing an English degree. I've been both a reader and by extension a writer my whole life. lately, I've been thinking about the books I loved when I was younger that fueled this passion and thus helped me along to where I am now <3
The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer. I still have my old copies of these books, and when I tell you they are well-loved, I mean they are well-loved. they're sort of fairytale retellings, and take place in the Land of Stories, which exists as a parallels world to this one where fairytale characters are real and living beyond their happily ever afters. the books follow twins Alex and Connor, who find out (spoiler?? lol) that their grandmother is the fairy godmother. all sorts of stuff goes down, and honestly I only remember half of it like a fever dream, but I remember really loving it in book five (?) when they get to meet the characters from stories Connor wrote. honestly, I probably read the entire series over fifty times, and that's not an exaggeration. first read them the year the third book came out, when I was nine. waiting for the rest was, I recall, absolute torture.
the Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. this is so funny to me, because these books basically set me up for my later teen years and loving the Folk of the Air series by Holly Black - but I digress. I first read these at age eight in a high-stress time of my life, and as a result they were likely deeply formative. they follow twins Jared and Simon (more twins ??) and their older sister Mallory (thinking back, she was absolutely part of my bi awakening). they move with their mother into the old Spiderwick mansion, and soon discover a fieldguide all about faeries and different fae species that live in the woods surrounding the house. I honestly think that the plot of these books is batshit, but I still sort of love them. there's a movie, but it's terrible, and aggressively condenses the plot into something completely unrecognizable.
Harry Potter, by... Harry Potter. isn't it great that, after his time at Hogwarts, he decided to write a seven-book autobiography?? so funky of him!! anyways - I read these at the ripe age of ten, and stuck by loving them since. HP was my first fandom, and maybe the one I'm fondest of (actually, thinking on this, no), and Hogwarts in general holds a lot of nostalgia for me. this being said, I still love the books, but I have to say that I reread them last year for the first time since I was maybe 14/15 and um. wow. Mr. Potter you are?? problematic??? someone please tell me why the adult man who was allowed to abuse children in a position of power for sixteen years got a redemption arc but the literal CHILD who was born into an abusive and power-hungry family didn't. also why is Dumbedore hailed as such a bloody saint?? he's worse than fucking Voldemort. I said what I said. also it's super confusing that Harry never mentioned in his autobiography that his Sirius and Remus were happily married and living at Grimmauld place. weird storytelling choice I guess!!
all those damned Warrior cats books by Erin Hunter. I swear to god these books had crack in them I ATE THEM UP from the ages of like. eight to eleven?? maybe??? genuinely, I must've reread them a hundred times, but I could tell you NOTHING about the plots. a few vibes, maybe, but zero plots. did they even have plots?? were plots a thing in those books??? how was I so obsessed with them???? funniest part is the fact that I see people talking about them on the internet now and it's just. insane. actually insane.
Lockwood and Co by Jonathan Stroud. full transparency: I read these for the first time at age eleven (around the time the fourth book out of five came out) and now remain an active member of the fandom. I love these books, and these characters, with my whole heart and I want nothing more than them to be happy. the Netflix show, though I have some pretty severe gripes with it, is still really amazing and absolutely deserves a second season. the books are set in London, where ghosts are real deeply dangerous, and follow the main trio of Lucy, Lockwood, and George. I reread them at the start of the year in preparation for the show, and they're genuinely just incredible works. I sobbed a lot reading them. they're absolutely comfort reads for me; 35 Portland Row is home.
wow. that was a lot. there's honestly several more I could talk about (School for Good and Evil, Percy Jackson, etc), but this is a long enough post for now, ha. love you all <3

Thess vs JK Rowling
So let’s talk about JK Rowling for a minute. Yes, I know that you’re probably sick of hearing about it for one reason or another. I get it. I just ... have a distinct need to vent here. So I’m sorry for bringing it up again, whatever side of this argument you’re on. Just ... come on. Hogwarts Legacy comes out on my fucking birthday. The only thing that’s saving my birthday at this point, given the mess the internet’s going to be Friday over this, is sushi dinner and a little Legend of Vox Machina watch party.
The summary basically goes as follows: JK Rowling is a TERF and a horrible human being, and she underlines that fact every time she opens her virtual mouth, and now Hogwarts Legacy is coming out and it’s been an internet slap-fight ever since. The reactions I’ve seen so far have been as follows:
“I’m buying multiple copies to own the libs!”
“I’m buying a copy but I’m donating twice as much to trans organisations so it’s fine, right?”
“SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS OMG!”
“It doesn’t really deprive her of that much money anyway given how rich she is, so a boycott is pointless.”
“I’ll just pirate it and you should too!” (bonus points for talking about the cracker who’s making it a point to crack Denuvo over this, and that’s about the one good thing coming out of it because Denuvo is bullshit)
And then there’s me. I’m trying not to ascribe hateful intent to anyone who wants to buy Hogwarts Legacy. I really am. The only reason I can manage it is - and I’m sorry to put it this way but there’s literally no other way I can phrase it - US news is basically the centre of the media universe and a lot of people only hear the very basics about how JK Rowling is a TERF and a horrible human being. You combine that with nostalgia goggles and it’s a recipe for what I can only really call quasi-deliberate cognitive dissonance in people with the best of intentions. Sorry for doing this; I just need to pull this apart.
We’ll start with the nostalgia goggles. I mean, I was a ... sort of a fan when I was younger. Looking back on it, I can see why “more or less average kid from a household that treats them unfairly is suddenly elevated to popularity, wealth, a stable emotional support network and ADVENTURE!” had appeal. Thing is, looking at it with a more critical eye? It was racist as fuck. Not that much better on the sexism. Not any better on the antisemitism either. Apologetic of slavery (”No it’s okay because they like being slaves!” my entire oversized ass). Don’t even get me started about the “lycanthropy as AIDS” thing that she actually admitted to, and literally highlighting how she killed her gays when she stated that Dumbledore was gay after the last books were already out instead of actually showing any of that in the text. On top of all that, I can’t say with any honesty that it was even that well-written. While I don’t think a lot of people are forgetting that book 7 epilogue any time soon, the rest of it ... just ... doesn’t hold up to me. The wizarding houses that sold a few billion pieces of merchandise were just an excuse to legitimise bullying within the text. Her portrayal of Snape had her confusing “doomed love” with “incel”. Dumbledore was sold as a benevolent sage but came across to me as a fucking maniac and a horrible educator. Most of all, half of this series was held together with plot glue, communication fail, and having a non-omniscient, highly distractable POV character throughout. I have things to say about the pacing, particularly as regards the introduction of the Horcruxes and the Remus / Tonks relationship (which, given the “bad man spreading this AIDS-analog to people deliberately” the still somehow existing view of AIDS as “a bad gay’s disease”, and Remus’ bond with Sirius, feels like an attempt to “de-gay” Remus somehow, but all that did was code him bi and she killed him anyway, apparently to tug on heartstrings in a really clumsy-ass way, so eh). But we’ve got colourful houses coded by desirable personality traits (EXCEPT SLYTHERIN, like cunning and ambition are somehow inherently evil) and Quidditch and Every-Flavour Beans, so that’s fine, right? Egh. Sorry; I was never one to hang onto the nostalgia goggles for very long. I love poking the Jenga Tower of Logic too much.
(Also, frankly, if she’d taken Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and turned them into a Steve Irwin-type nature series instead of the racist imperialist pile of garbage that series turned into, she’d have been a lot better off. Though I’m not sure I like her rooting around in the cultural heritages of others because she handles this shit like a moose handles a Ming vase.)
Of course, Hogwarts Legacy is a different kettle of fish. It’s not in the modern era or anything so it can’t be that problematic, right? It’s set in ... *checks* 1890. So the height of British imperialism. Oooooooh yeah that’s going to be a Thing, isn’t it. Let’s see ... Super Special Student thrown into Hogwarts in their fifth year, Possessed of Ancient Secret Magic ... Chosen One. Got it. Wikipedia won’t even go into the full plot but what I seem to recall is “Evil (and Jewish-coded) Goblins Attempt Wizard Genocide”. So that’s nice. And its lead designer is ... Troy Leavitt, Gamergate supporter and creation of such videos as “In Defense of Cultural Appropriation”. Which, given Rowling’s history with same, is on brand. So how about we not go too far into the “But SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPERS!” argument? This man does not need support; he needs a good swift kick in the balls.
So, back onto Rowling, because I really can’t talk about the game much as it’s not technically out yet. Yes, TERF and horrible human being, but there are examples of this that go beyond the shit she spouts on Twitter. As far as the TERF shit goes, here’s an example: a little while ago, the devolved Scottish Parliament wrote a law - only applicable to the Scots, incidentally - that said that people age 16 and up should be able to decide what gender to put on their identity documents. It’s called the Gender Recognition Act. Now, the UK government at Westminster didn’t like this at all, and - in a move they’re not actually supposed to make - blocked Scottish Parliament from being able to enact that law within its own borders. This kicked the Scottish devolution movement (already pretty heavy because of the end results of Brexit) into even higher gear, because fuck the English government wanting to uphold their terfitude so much that they’d dictate what Scotland can do in its own borders. Rowling is on the English government’s side here, and is very against Scottish devolution. The money she has doesn’t only go to that LGB Alliance that leaves out the T so very deliberately; it also goes to blocking Scotland’s attempt to unstaple itself from this hellscape, just because she agrees with blocking the rights of people to choose whether an M or F goes on their official documentation instead of basing it on their assigned gender at birth.
And then there’s her most recent book, written under her (ironically male) pseudonym. Yes, it’s a TERF manifesto with chapters, but it’s more than just “Evil Mass Murderer Hides Behind Woke Transgender Propaganda To Gain Access To Women’s Bathrooms And Murder Them”. That book also includes a “poor influencer accused of being ableist being murdered by disabled people because they consider said influencer too ableist to be condoned” plot. Fibromyalgia is mentioned (dude, I have fibro and even if I wasn’t a decent human being, I hurt too much to be able to actively murder someone). Also autism, which is pretty telling when you consider that she also says that “poor confused autistic girls are being forced into gender conversion because they’re too autistic to understand what they’re doing”.
If you honestly want to own anything with this woman’s name attached, that’s fine. That’s your prerogative. I am probably going to judge you, though. It’s not the money, or at least not just the money - it’s the platform this is giving her, and the validation. Even piracy says “I don’t care about your behaviour because you’re giving me what I want”. Not even need; want. I don’t get why anyone wants it, but people are allowed to have different tastes, so that’s a whatever-thing. But I live in the country where her voice has the most influence on things that aren’t entertainment. She is defended by so many of the wealthy and powerful because she thinks the same way they do. And the more she’s lauded for anything she does, the more they’ll point to her as something good about this country. She is not a good thing about this country, and no amount of flying broomsticks and jelly beans that taste like earwax can change that, in my mind.
(Also, I’ve seen some of the preview pictures - the game looks like hot garbage anyway.)

Why do you not like Remadora?
I can't remember the last time I mentioned this ship on my blog so I'm going to assume this is just bait, but whatever. I'm cranky from a long week at work, so here goes.
Remus is gay. He was absolutely coded as a gay man in the series from 1999-2005, and that's how I saw him and read him and wrote him, that's how we ALL did in the fandom at the time, and then 6 years into the series the author was like, shit, gotta beat the R/S allegations! So she killed Sirius off, but that didn't work, so she forced R/T to happen instead. I'm not going along with the Remus-is-bi headcanon that the rest of the fandom has decided is law just because the author hated that R/S existed. Sorry, not happening. Sirius is bi though, we can all agree on that. Also I wouldn't normally mind an age gap, I usually love a good age gap, but Remus would have known her as a child and that's fucking weird. Also Tonks immediately stopped being interesting once she started fawning over a man and moping that he didn't like her back. Excuse me?? Harry didn't have any patience for that nonsense and neither do I. She was so much better in OOTP and I wish that characterization would have lasted through the rest of the series. Also! Remus didn't want to be married to her! Literally says it in canon! And then he does get married, but again, he says that he regrets that! Also he deadnames her, which is terrible, and also he wouldn't marry a cop in the first place?????? Anyway R/T is a textbook example of comp het. Go read this fic instead of HBP and DH, thank you and goodnight.

This blog feels like such a safe space. I’m bi and I’ve struggled with it my whole life.
Remus is one of my fave characters and I recently got back into fandom.
But inevitably I’ve come across Wolfstar content. And the bi erasure is so bad. The insistence that Remus (who has a wife and child) and Sirius are not bi but gay is so odd. I’ve literally seen posts about it, where someone will tag ‘yes bi people exist’ but Sirius and Remus aren’t.
Given that canonically Sirius is open for wide interpretation and Remus falls in love with a woman. Why is there this binary? Sexual orientation is a spectrum. Why the insistence? It actually really upsets me.
That’s not even starting on the hatred for Tonks or any woman that is paired with either man. Is is a parasocial jealousy, masked as allyship that erases bi/pan/demi sexuality?
Sorry for ranting, I know it’s fictional but it still feels like erasure
This blog feels like such a safe space.
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
I completely agree with you, anon! Idk why those idiots forget that bi people exist. Wolfstar and Remadora can both coexist, Remus and Sirius could’ve dated in the Marauders era and Remus could’ve gotten with Dora in the Lightning era. (I hate Wolfstar but I honestly don’t mind that thought, especially given that I do the same with Snupin.) They don’t have to choose. Like I said, I do the same thing with Snupin and Remadora. I made them both coexist, hence managing to squeeze both of my OTPs that I would die for without hating on a canon couple. Remadora-hating Wolfstar shippers, please take notes.
I’ve literally seen posts about it, where someone will tag ‘yes bi people exist’ but Sirius and Remus aren’t.
That’s just absurd. Why the hell can’t these two ships coexist ffs? I definitely understand why you’re upset, anon. I personally believe Sirius is gay but I have no problem with people believing he’s bi, and I really don’t get why Wolfstar shippers fully insist that he’s gay and sometimes even attack people who think otherwise.
Given that canonically Sirius is open for wide interpretation and Remus falls in love with a woman. Why is there this binary? Sexual orientation is a spectrum. Why the insistence? It actually really upsets me.
Agreed. Sirius is an attractive character with no romantic past in canon, and that’s something very precious to get ahold of in fandoms, so I can definitely understand the excitement that sparked from his fans. Marrying a woman does not necessarily make a man straight; I don’t understand why Wolfstar shippers interpreted it that way and then started insisting that Remus was secretly gay and was manipulated into his and Dora’s relationship (and all that other bullshit), despite the fact that he canonically loved her and was described as happier than ever when she gave birth to Teddy. This too upsets me, anon. You’re not the only one. :(
That’s not even starting on the hatred for Tonks or any woman that is paired with either man. Is is a parasocial jealousy, masked as allyship that erases bi/pan/demi sexuality?
Yeah, Wolfstar shippers claim that making (I don’t know how we can “make” them get together since it’s literally a canon pairing-) Remus and Tonks get together is queer-erasure (tbh that’s so funny to me cause literally 95% of Remadora shippers I’ve met are queer-) yet they continue to do ALL THIS and get away with it.
And please, do not apologise for ranting. It’s completely justified as to why you’re upset, I’m upset too. Feel free to rant in my inbox anytime! <33 (and can I just say how happy you made me when you said my blog felt like a safe space? I’m 2 seconds away from crying happy tears 🥺❤️)
Have a great day, anon!

in response to @al-longbottom's post about what i would change if i wrote hp. here is the full explanation... (i might edit it a bit more later because this is a bit of a ramble oops)
1. more racial diversity and actually having that embedded into the story (having token characters with stereotypical names was very frustrating) i would definitely try and add more culture into backstories that influence even casual conversations etc.
2. more gender diversity especially with complex characters. more trans binary and nonbinary and honestly just well developed women characters too. we only had hermione as the main recurring character and i would love to explore her friendships with the folks in her dorm etc. as well as having some binary and nonbinary trans characters !!!! especially with the women and women adjacent side characters, they were portrayed quite shallowly sometimes. like the dislike of fleur, even though she was literally chosen from all of beaubaxtons, demonstrating her magical capability. it is possible to be feminine and powerful thank you. it was irrational of molly, ginny and hermione to all dislike her (for what seemed like her beauty?!?!) and i feel like it came back to the whole performative thing and that beautiful girls are always mean and the women jealousy thing or whatever and that was just ugh.
3. queer diversity of all kinds – deffo impossible that all the characters are straight and cis. sorry can’t accept that. i would write in my queers, lesbians, bis, pans, omnis, gays, aces, aros, demis, trans-mascs, trans-fems, nonbinary folk, genderfluid folk, sapphics, achilleans etc. etc. we exist sorry not sorry.
4. well developed character relationships. the golden trio independently making friends with other people. would love to see hermione and some study buds and ron playing chess with other folks.
5. give the full redemption arc to draco malfoy and not snape. it would have been so much more powerful to have draco redeemed (***not without him having to go through a gruelling self-discovery/self-reflection/my behaviours are wrong and i need to correct them and face the consequences of my bigotry***) because like harry, he was a child but on the other side of the war. i would write it in a way that away from his father’s shadow he gets to break out and unlearn the toxic stuff, even if that was ignited by voldemort's return (because the idea that you can unlearn your bigotry and become a better person is so so important). snape only did it because of lily and the whole toxic obsession thing, it doesn’t really count as unlearning bigotry imo
6. made it more explicit that dumbledore was a bad guy and the teachers very much enabled his behaviour. harry deserves some closure and its important not to romanticise asking a child to save the world. and also what happened with tom riddle and leaving kids abandoned until they reach hogwarts age is not ok. (i read a fic about it which i will recommend when i found it!)
7. showing mental health issues. even just school itself can be a struggle without all of the save the world pressure and only including mental health in ootp onwards where voldemort was invading harry's mind and then stuff happened. and also harry couldnt possibly be the only one.
8. having trans characters. sorry did i say that already? doesn’t matter. more trans characters please.
9. Maybe would’ve not had remus and tonks together *as it happened in the plot* because I feel like it was a little bit rushed so *if* I did keep them together then it would’ve been way more developed. however, I am slightly more partial to wolfstar so who knows….
10. show more explicitly that the houses aren't inherently good and bad!!!! that was honestly just so stupid.

I need to add onto this again. Another red flag for me was when she made Dumbledore gay.
So, for anyone who didn't grow up with the books coming out like I did, Dumbledore wasn't gay during the books release. Like. At All. Even in the Deathly Hallows no one thought Dumbledore was gay. There was no insinuation, there was nothing. As far as we, the public, knew, Dumbledore was living his best life with McGonagall in a secret relationship at Hogwarts. Ask anyone who grew up with the books coming out, they will tell you that at one point they thought McGonagall and Dumbledore would get together.
I think it was not long after the last book came out, the hype had died down because the last book is... not good (it's camping. It's boring actually. I struggled through those last 3 books because literally nothing was going on. She could have taken the story anywhere and she chose this) Anyway, she was being questioned about her story and someone asked her about the representation in her books and the fact that there were no lgbtq characters.
What was her response: Dumbledore was gay.
I don't believe for a second she planned this. I think she panicked and it slipped out. Yes, a lot of Dumbledore's story can be read as queer. But a lot of characters in Harry Potter can be read as queer. You know who has the queerest story: Remus. She literally used AIDS as an analogy for lycanthropy and she didn't just let it slip that it was Remus. She made Dumbledore gay. And, there's not a problem with this but it's the fact that this was an afterthought. I know, as well, that lgbtq characters don't have to be at the forefront of a piece of media to exist, but i feel the choice of making it Dumbledore was just so odd.
We read Dumbledore as gay now because of that one admission. Without it i honestly believe that we as readers wouldn't look through harry potter and immediately assign gay or bi or queer to a character of Dumbledore. Mainly because Dumbledore represents this almighty figure that we don't need a relationship to be attached to. He's supposed to be shrouded in mystery, it adds to his power.
It's not just that Dumbledore is an afterthought either. It's the fact that JK refused to even consider that she might have written anyone else as queer. Remus, Sirius, Harry they all have the biggest queer fanbases because people saw something they connected with through them. They all have something about them that reads differently to someone like Hermione who we can probably automatically assign as straight due to how she's characterised. (Maybe not, it's been a while. But there's definitely someone in there that reads painfully straight.)
Regardless, if you even suggest that another character in Harry Potter is gay, you get shot down. JK refused to even entertain the idea that Harry was bi despite the fact that he frequently describes both women and men as pretty.
I feel like making Dumbledore gay wasn't a boon to the lgbtq community, i just feel like she needed to tick a box and dumbledore was a character she didn't care as strongly for as she did the others.
This is just my opinion. But, again, this was quite a red flag when I was growing up.
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion and blah blah blah but I think my first red flag about JK Rowling had to be when she made Snape pull a 180 and said he was a ‘good guy’.
Like.
No.

Headcanon: If the Marauders never existed
my personal opinion on what would happen if each marauder didn’t exist, which changes a lot but these are my current thoughts
James
Sirius would be in Slytherin
James was the one who encouraged Sirius to be in Gryffindor and gave him that push on the train, I think that with his family, if he had never met James on the train he wouldn’t have been sorted into Gryffindor - he wasn’t brave yet
Lily and Snape’s friendship would’ve still fallen apart eventually, since Snape would’ve still been in Slytherin and joined the Death Eaters, but it would’ve happened later on, maybe in Seventh Year or after graduation during the war
Remus and Peter became friends but never really clicked like the four marauders did
Remus and Lily are still platonic soulmates
Regulus would’ve been in Ravenclaw
with the pressure off of him, as Sirius is the heir and wouldn’t have disappointed his family, he would’ve most likely been sorted differently
be still pranks people and has practically the same personality, but he has to be more careful
regulus and remus meet in a study group and become friends
regulus, and eventually through him, remus would’ve influenced sirius enough so that he isn’t a blood purist
it takes him a lot longer to shake off his family’s blood purist ideals
but in order to keep the pressure off of regulus and to keep him safe, since his parents don’t like regulus as much anymore, he doesn’t run away
when his parents die he becomes the head of the house of black
remus becomes head boy, as much as he hates it
sirius is convinced to be the order spy
sirius is the one to find out about and hunt for horcruxes
he finds them all with the help of remus and regulus because dumbledore is useless
(sirius and remus eventually get together but it takes longer)
peter stays neutral during the war, he has no one to convince him to join the order, but isn’t important enough to be recruited as a death eater
snape doesn’t become the order spy, since when he tells voldemort the prophecy it has nothing to do with lily
Neville would be the boy who lived, obviously
the second war doesn’t happen, since all of the horcruxes have been destroyed
lily survives the war and is dating mary macdonald (i don’t take any criticism on this, lily is bi)
this may seem like a better universe in the end but it’s not because james doesn’t exist
Sirius
remus, james, and peter are still friends, but aren’t as close
remus and james are best friends, as are remus and lily
lily doesn’t hate james as much - at the beginning james always wanted to impress sirius and vice versa, without sirius james would’ve been more tolerable in lily’s eyes
but without prongsfoot friendship james isn’t nearly as much of a mother hen
james is really close with marlene, because he needs a quidditch friend
regulus’s storyline remains the same
james and peter become animagi for remus, but it takes longer
lily becomes one too later on
james and lily start dating fifth year, because it took him less time to win her over
snape and james are still rivals, but sectumsempra is never invented
snape and lily fall out in sixth year over him finding out remus is a werewolf, and lily sticking by remus’s side
the prank never happens
snape still becomes a death eater and the order spy
peter still joins the order
although he doesn’t feel as left out without james and sirius’s friendship, he still feels overshadowed
peter still becomes the spy
james and lily never believed remus was the traitor, so without sirius he convinces no one
remus is too obvious to be secret keeper and is away on a mission for werewolves
peter is the secret keeper
james and lily are still killed and peter is found out and taken to azkaban
remus raises harry
dumbledore still needs to keep an eye on (control) harry though so remus becomes the DADA teacher
the curse isn’t a thing in this for the sake of me favoring remus
since he hires remus he doesn’t hire snape
harry basically grows up in hogsmeade
the plot of the first book remains more or less the same but quirrell is the potions master
so is lockhart, because he claims to be good at everything
remus is petrified in the second book
the plot of the fourth book is more or less the same, but crouch jr poses as potions master
remus went to school with crouch, so when he sees him on the map he realizes somethings wrong
but because of that he’s exposed before the third task and voldemort doesn’t rise again
the order doesn’t reform
so no remadora
...the end
OR
even though lily and james never believed the spy was remus, everyone else did
peter framed remus instead
because peter might not be book smart but he’s still smart, and knows how to play his cards right and manipulate people
remus went to azkaban
being a werewolf, he has practically no rights
let alone in a war
he’s given the dementor’s kiss immediately without a trial
the rest of the plot is more or less the same in the end but harry has no parent figures at all
i don’t like this ending as much
Remus
first of all, james and sirius never mature as much
while remus was the one who headed most of the pranks, and made them better
he also kept them in check because they’re both privileged as fuck
so they’re more arrogant
their pranks aren’t nearly as good either
the marauders don’t form, the dynamic of just james and sirius and peter is off, peter wouldn’t have felt included enough for their friendship to form
the first reality check that james gets is from lily
sirius takes longer to run away, he doesn’t get as much shit from his family since he’s not friends with a half blood
and it takes him longer to shake off the blood purist ideals that his family has drilled into him
james helps though, and lily too since james is too priveliged to fully explain how bad the black family values are
sirius + lily friendship eventually, takes longer since sirius is more of a dick without remus but they bond over rocky relationships with their siblings
the prank doesn’t happen for obvious reasons, but sirius and snape do still actively try to ruin each other’s lives
it takes longer for james and lily to get together, but they do eventually
peter joins the order and becomes the spy, he’s always been overlooked and underestimated next to james and sirius
becoming an amimagi for remus was the first thing that made him feel truly brave, truly connected to the other marauders, he doesn’t have that in this
sirius remains the secret keeper though - the marauders never formed and he never trusted peter as much as he did in canon
also he doesn’t have to worry about remus being the traitor
eventually peter is caught
but bellatrix tortures sirius the same way she would’ve done to the longbottoms
he’s tortured to the brink of insanity
neville is the boy who lived
jily and harry live, but sirius never recovers
peter goes to azkaban
Peter
the marauders take a lot longer to form
peter was the glue, they’re all vital to the group but peter made them all complete
james sirius and remus are still very good friends
sirius figures out remus’s secret at the end of second year (peter was the one who figured it out first a lot earlier) because they’re not as close yet
and james is unobservant as fuck
mom friend james (even more so because remus can’t take care of himself to save his life, literally)
they become animagi in fifth year, but it takes them longer
again, peter actually came up with many good ideas and helped a lot
the map is made in sixth year
the prank occurs, and the group shatters
it takes a long time to get back to normal
wolfstar and jily both start dating seventh year
remus is the secret keeper
sirius is tortured a bit as everyone thinks that he’s the secret keeper, but is saved in time
neville is the boy who lived
they all live (except peter)

One of the reasons why I think about taking my Twitter, the guys ooze an absurd hatred against the people who ship Remadora besides attacking the character herself saying that Remus used her to forget about Sirius and that, if Sirius were alive, Remus would betray Tonks.
I’ve already read a thread something like this “reasons why Remadora is problematic”  that indirectly trivialized homophobia by leaving   between the lines that anyone who doesn't ship Wolfstar is homophobic. What makes me angrier about this whole mess is that these guys who bang their heads to justify Wolfstar seem to have never read anything about HP or consumed the books (I hate to use a JK as an argument, but she's credited) about characters besides completely ignore the psychological aspects Remus.
This happens a lot on twitter like when they say "oh Remus waited for Sirius to die to get married"?? Sorry for the language, but FUCKING the character is all sequel, he lived in fear of himself, he went through a fucked up depression, he was marginalized because of Lycanthropy, he lived most of his life in total misery, but the rosemary Swear it took him to be with Tonks because I still liked Sirius. Remus Lupine only has traumas when it's convenient there. Which raises another issue, as you mentioned, about Remus' bisexuality, people are using this “oh he Gay” speech as if the idea of Remus being bi was absurd. Why the people are freaked out.
At these times I take a deep breath and say “each one with their fanfics”, but these guys seem to do nothing but be a third-party shipp inspector just because it doesn't fit with a fanfic that only exists in the fandom bubble.
I have had less contact with the HP fandom because of that, trying to get in touch with other groups so I don't get too stressed.
It’s always the same thing. "Remadora is a problematic couple name because Tonks hates her name", "Remadora is homophobic and only exists because JK doesn't create gay couples", "Tonks took advantage of Remus in a fragile moment", "Remus abandoned Tonks and the baby, so he didn't love them" and variants.
The whole concept of gay Remus came about because of the Prisoner of Azkaban adaptation, and it's a stereotyped concept. The director read the books and thought "um he looks gay, I'm going to ask the actor to act like he's gay". And because of a hug, that was it, Remus turned gay. Ah, they always ignore multisexualities.
That’s it, ship what you want, but they don't come and piss me off.
People want so much to force their couple for sure that they use any argument. They want to say that Remadora is problematic, but they don't even realize that the ship itself is problematic. I love Remus and I love Sirius, but I can't see them as a couple for a lot of reasons. Sirius' "joke", in addition to almost killing Remus, revealed to their "enemy" Remus' biggest secret, which I'm sure Remus kept under lock and key because he feared being despised and ridiculed, ie Sirius shit for feelings at this time just to provoke Snape. Sirius and Remus believed for over a year that the other was the undercover traitor and Remus continued to believe that until he saw the rogue's map in 1994. If the guy I like believed I would be able to betray my best friends and not even ask me about it and instead trust others, for me that person is not a boyfriend. Not to mention that Sirius, after leaving Azkaban, didn't go after Remus. He only went after Remus in 1995 at the behest of Dumbledore. And the main reason: wolfstar fans made me hate wolfstar more than anything.
On Remus being "sequelae": Remus almost attacked Harry, who was the son of his best friends in 1994. It was the reason he left Hogwarts and I believe that fear accompanied him for many years in the form of nightmares. No wonder his bogeyman was the moon. Add to that his being poorer, older, and a social outcast that everyone feared and despised. Lupine always thought of others. It was obvious that he would put the well-being of the woman he loved above himself and want what was best for her. Many don't remember, but the same night Sirius died, Tonks was seriously injured. And I believe that this, and not Sirius' death, which made Remus recognize that he loved her.
If Remadora was homophobic because JK doesn't create gay couples, then ALL couples should be homophobic. Because there's no hint that Remus and Sirius are attracted to each other. The book makes it very clear that they hugged like brothers and in the movie I never saw another intention in the hug.
Tonks taking advantage of Remus is the most absurd thing I've ever read. Who has never tried to win the person you love? And if Tonks was a little "pushy" it's because she knew that what made Remus hesitate was because he wanted to protect her and not because he didn't love her.
It is interesting to see that Snape causing Lily's death and regretting it and then protecting Harry is proof of love. But Remus was afraid of harming his own son, tried to run away, repented and died to save his son and give him a better world is because he didn't love him enough.
I love Sirius, but what he did with Remus just proves how much their relationship is just friendship and the brotherly love Black had was for James. The problem is that people have a habit of always putting romance into friendships and toxic enemies (cough, cough, Drarry, cough, cough). These people have fetishes and want to shove it down the throats of others.
I believe that if you ship the couple a lot, you like the people who make it up, then to say that Remus would betray Tonks is literally saying that the character you like has no character, the same goes for saying that Remus didn't love his son.

hello! I'm the anon who, a few weeks ago, asked whether TLAT, Comm and ATYD were worth reading and I remember you saying I should stop by to let you know what I think so here I am. So far I've only read tlat (I'm planning to read the others asap) and... boy oh boy do I have a lot to say... I'll keep it short and simple though, don't worry.
There are a few things I wasn't too fond of at first: I felt it had too many plotlines of 'x cheated on y' and 'x is a tart' and after a bit it made the fic slightly boring. However, looking back, they were important because they made the tragic moments even more impactful. The whole Meloni vs Mumps thing followed by the attack on the MFP was a gut punch.
That and Marlene's ED were my main issues... The rest of the fic is beyond beautiful, and it's probably become one of my favorite fics ever.
I've seen people on tiktok complain about the characterisation of James in tlat and I was like what? that's the best part! He's an incredibly well written character (both him and Lily are, and the others are just as great).
I particularly loved how the many experiences Lily and James shared (the investigation about the attempted suicides, the full moon, the protest, the attack on MFP) changed them and shaped their relationship.
Honorable mention goes to James and Sirius' relationship: seeing them so at odds was heartbreaking and painfully realistic. They're truly brothers.
I've seen a lot of people praising Adam McKinnon and I do love him! But Marlene has always been queer in my eyes so her characterisation and her love interest weren't particularly exciting for me. Also, I didn't really like Donna at first, but I was in love with her by the end.
In conclusion, the plot and the characterisations are the best part about it. And the fic now holds a special place in my heart and I could easily consider it canon.
Sorry for the lengthy response, but I thought you'd like to know and I'd love to see if you agree with any of my points or not lol
P.S. I could have worded this better but I just got my booster dose of the vaccine so I'm feeling a bit under the weather :/
Have a wonderful day and thank you so much!
Ah! I'm so glad you came back! I was actually wondering how you were fairing with them the other day.
Also, "I'll keep it short and simple" followed by this essay is absolutely killing me, I love it.
Yes, the ED and the cheating and slut shaming is absolutely what I was referencing in my answer when I said there are pieces that I don't agree with. I think if TLAT was written today, some of that would be handled differently. Or I hope it would.
Be prepared for similar, um... uncomfortable bits in the other two as well. Not eating disorders and slut shaming specifically, but similarly uncomfortable issues. They exist in these fics, and I think it's important to acknowledge and address them, but that they shouldn't ruin the fic experience entirely.
The protest alone is enough to read the fic for. I adore that whole scene. And SAM! 🥰 Who has such a heartbreaking ending.
Listen, I def agree that Marlene is an adorable little lesbian, but Adam McKinnon has my heart. I'd put up with straight Marlene to get an ending to that story. See the same re: Remus and Clancy (although Remus is definitely bi, but that's another story). And Donna and Lathe...
Thank you so much for this! I love it, and I love hearing your thoughts. Let me know when you finish the next one! (Or send me updates along the way. I'm here for it.)
