Please consider a younger, still and always autistic Durga Aeducan, while going selectively mute, gestures to Bhelan in the dwarven sign language, "Trian is being an asshole again." while wearing an utterly straight face.
Trian glared at Bhelan for coughing laughter and "ruining the solemnity of the occasion" and Durga gets another point in her and Bhelan's silent game of "Who can piss off Trian without saying a single word?"

Up until she was betrayed by Bhelan, Nova had her entire life planned out. She would make a suitable match for herself, keeping Gorim as her second (so they can continue to sleep together), and eventually have a child.
Instead, she became a Grey Warden.
She continued to enjoy leading people, and telling them what to do. She was raised noble, and expected everyone to continue to do her bidding.
Leliana, however, pushed back and Nova absolutely loved her for that. After the events of Origins, Leliana went to work for the Divine, though they always visited as much as they could.
The Inquisition and then Leliana being named Divine made things more difficult, but Nova was never one to make down from a challenge. All she wants is to end the Calling and become Leliana's trusted advisor.

Dragon Age OCs: Coran Aeducan
CORAN AEDUCAN
(I don't seem to have a pic of him -- I mostly played him before I took a lot of screenshots.)
Warrior (two-handed weapon style), don’t actually remember his specialties
Coran is not my first Warden. I started him to try some things out that I hadn’t done before, and to play around with his background a little. I attached him to Branwen’s world state because I thought they made an interesting contrast. However, I might change that when I set up the world state in Veilguard.
Anyway! Coran is kind of a privileged jerk. As a Prince of Orzammar, he had wealth, women, and adulation, and totally did not see his brother’s treachery coming. He came to the surface with a lot of seething resentment. He has a lot of natural charisma and also just expects to take charge in basically any situation. So he expected people to obey him, and he tended to interpret all surface politics through his familiarity with dwarven politics. Fortunately, he was also an effective commander and team leader.
The one thing on the surface world that he didn’t know anything about was magic. And the first mage he met to really talk to was Morrigan. So he generally assumed that Morrigan was correct and took her advice in basically all magical situations. (This wasn’t good for the denizens of the Circle Tower, although he ultimately tried to dissuade Uldred.) I am also not entirely sure he recruited Sten.
He got along great with Oghren, who happily took his orders, and he viewed himself as a mentor to Alistair and was happy to take charge of their Warden party. He had some friction with Leliana – I think he initially flirted with her a bit and was then put off by her religious devotion. I think he sided with the werewolves in the Brecilian Forest. My memory is that I really struggled with the Deep Roads quest; I’d meant for him to side with Branka, I think, and then he was really personally offended by Branka’s disregard for her loyal followers.
I do remember that he maneuvered hard to get Alistair on the throne without Anora (because duh, she doesn’t have the right bloodlines to rule!). And that he challenged and killed Bhelan in order to put Harrowmont on the throne of Orzammar.
He was fascinated by Morrigan from the first, and they became lovers. He was a little surprised by the Dark Ritual, but not unwilling; he was surprised by her departure. I played him through Awakening as well; he got along pretty well with all the Awakening crowd. He eagerly pursued Morrigan through the Witch Hunt DLC and then went through the Eluvian with her. I headcanon that he and Morrigan actually lived together and raised Kieran together for a time before both returned to Thedas for their own missions.
I haven’t actually written that much about Coran. He has a cameo partway through Anchored to the Past, there’s a tiny ficlet where he and Morrigan flirt here, and this has Morrigan reflecting a little on their relationship.

Dragon Age Femslash Recs!
Happy Femslash February! I got thrown off the rec wagon the past couple months for Life Reasons but I'm back and I've got a whole pile for you.
Ordered from shortest to longest. If there are other ships, I have noted those as well. Ratings and major warnings are listed; as always, please check AO3 for the full tag list.
These Moments Given by Mytha. Cassandra/Leliana, 1200 words, rated T. The Left and Right Hand take comfort in one another after the explosion at the Conclave. This fic really brings to life the terrible events we don't see in the game.
Vulnerability by @ziskandra. Isabela/Female Hawke, 1200 words, rated E. Hawke and Isabela deal with the aftermath of the Qunari invasion in their own way. I love how this explores Hawke's insecurities and fear of losing those she loves, lots of complicated emotions and uncertainties.
Right Hand by @ziskandra. Female Trevelyan/Cassandra, 1400 words, rated T. The Inquisitor works to adjust to her disability and a new role at the side of the Divine. I like the way it explores some complicated feelings on the part of Trevelyan about ability and agency.
Coin Tricks by @chocochipbiscuit. Isabela/Merrill, 2200 words, rated G. Merrill and Isabela talk about luck, carrying it with you and making your own. Choco writes both characters and their dynamic so, so well and it's a delight to read.
Arcane Deflection by @settiai. Harding/Dagna, 2600 words, rated T. This charming fic explores a growing relationship between Harding and Dagna while also digging into Harding's inner life and experiences in the Inquisition in ways I love.
Aeducan Pride by Cartadwarfwithaheartofgold. Rica/Female Aeducan, Rica/Bhelan, 2900 words, rated M. Warnings: Unhealthy relationships, power differences, dubious consent. Sereda Aeducan takes everything from her brother: the crown, his son, his plans, and finally, his wife. My favorite thing about this fic is Rica, her cunning and shrewdness and her focus on keeping herself and her son alive, and I also really enjoyed how a conniving and manipulative Sereda not only keeps Rica close but gains her affections as well.
Close at Hand, Friend and Foe by Cryptographic_Delurk. Anora/Cauthrien, 3000 words, rated T. A sharp and incisive character study Anora as well a story as two very different women fleeing the kingdom that has cast them aside. I really enjoyed the tension between Anora and Cauthrien as they struggle to find common ground.
bound up by your thread by @chocochipbiscuit. Isabela/Female Hawke, 3400 words, rated E. Some good old bondage, an old favorite of mine! and Hawke not having to make decisions just for a little while.
Birdsong by @montpahrnah. Isabela/Female Hawke, 6000 words, rated M. Warnings: Major Character Death. Isabela struggles to come to terms with Hawke's death in the Fade. An incredible, moving exploration of grief I'm not ashamed to say I ugly-cried my way through.
Her Beacon and Her Shield by Sheeana. Female Cousland/Anora, 8500 words, rated T. Political marriage to lovers, a trope I adore! I loved watching Anora and Elissa's foundational respect for one another as allies progress to fondness and affection. A bittersweet conclusion, yet with a sense of hope.
Dinner Time series by @fireferns. Dalish/Skinner, six short fics totalling 18000 words, ratings G through E. I love the author's prose style, and the loving attention to both these minor characters, developing their personalities and backstories; a truly wonderful read.
Happy Femslash February, friends, and happy reading! 💜

Thedas Tuesday
Since I am a coward who doesn't want to create any more character information that could be contradicted by the game (at least, not until I've played the game), I've decided that for the foreseeable future I'm gonna use Thedas Tuesday to develop the worldstate for my first playthrough with Hissera. Most of it will probably end up headcanon, as I doubt the character creator will be as thorough as the Keep, which itself only factored in decisions potentially relevant to Inquisition (?). Even so, it's "established" headcanon, as all of it will be based on what was possible in the games.
Today we'll be going very broad, looking at some of the biggest choices in each of the three games. Since all of my PCs will be women, I'm gonna tag it as the "Girls Get It Done" worldstate. IYKYK.
Heroes
Petronella Aeducan (Reaver)
Ariel Hawke (Duelist)
Rhona Lavellan (Knight-Enchanter)
Worldstate information below the cut.
Dragon Age: Origins
Petronella Aeducan
My very first Warden, long lost to the annals of time and cyberspace, was a dwarf noble who used the default name Sereda, so it feels fitting that this worldstate be inspired by the default dwarf noble-focused worldstate that players can choose at the beginning of Dragon Age II: "No Compromise". In this worldstate, her name is Petronella, and she was very much forced into the role of leadership against her will. She didn't want the throne, even as Bhelan tried to unsubtly nudge her toward making a powerplay against Trian, and she certainly didn't want to be in charge of the Wardens' entire campaign against the Blight in Ferelden, but Alistair deferred to her pretty much from the start.
First, the most important decision: Petronella cured the Mabari, of course. She named him Wolf, inspired by the blighted surface wolves she had encountered during the expedition to Aeducan Thaig; they had been the first surface creatures she had ever seen up close.
Petronella did not romance anybody.
In The Arl of Redcliffe, she stayed and fought alongside the villagers, then in the castle she was persuaded to spare Connor and go to the Circle of Magi for help. Connor's life was ultimately saved by Wynne being sent into the Fade to fight the desire demon.
In Broken Circle, she saved the mages, including First Enchanter Irving.
In the Urn of Sacred Ashes, she desecrated the ashes in exchange for the knowledge of how to become a reaver. Leliana died trying to kill her, and Wynne abandoned the party when she learned what had happened.
In Nature of the Beast, she brokered peace between the elves and the werewolves.
In A Paragon of Her Kind, she destroyed the Anvil of the Void and crowned Bhelan (after supporting Harrowmont early on).
In The Landsmeet, she allied with Anora and recruited Loghain, which cost her Alistair as an ally. She convinced Anora to not execute him.
When she was told about the Dark Ritual, she rejected Morrigan's offer, and Morrigan left as well.
In The Battle of Denerim, Loghain sacrificed himself and killed Archdemon.
Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening
In the Depths of Depravity, the Architect was killed.
In The Assault on Amaranthine, the city of Amaranthine burned while Petronella returned to Vigil's Keep to repel the darkspawn attack.
Dragon Age: Origins – Witch Hunt
In the Search of Morrigan, an incredibly embittered Petronella stabbed Morrigan.
Dragon Age II
Ariel Hawke
My first Hawke was a man. I don't remember his name, but I'm pretty sure he was a Diplomatic/Blue Hawke, and I do remember that he romanced Isabela. Since this is the Girls Get It Done worldstate, some changes will obviously need to be made. Ariel Hawke is a devout Andrastian, though like her friend Varric, she doesn't have a very high opinion of the Chantry as an institution. She believes strongly in the need for Circle reforms, in greater freedoms for mages, though not the outright eradication of the Circles.
Ariel ended up in a rivalry romance with Sebastian Vael.
At the end of the Prologue, Ariel joined the smugglers because she thought they could get more work for Bethany.
When the time came for The Deep Roads Expedition, Ariel was convinced by their mother to leave Bethany behind, leading to Bethany being taken to the Circle of Magi.
In Following the Qun, Ariel did not side with Mother Petrice.
In Legacy, Ariel ultimately sided with Janeka after learning that Larius threatened her father.
In Demands of the Qun, Isabela returned with the Tome of Koslun, and Ariel fought and killed the Arishok to protect her.
In Best Served Cold, Ariel handed the conspirators over to Orsino.
In The Last Straw, Ariel executed Anders, and sided with the mages.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Rhona Lavellan
My first Inquisitor was Lavellan, pretty sure with the default name Ellana. Of my three heroes, Inquisitor Rhona Lavellan is closest to her actually played equivalent. She is the Second of Keeper Deshanna Istimaethoriel, and in the course of her time serving as Inquisitor, she learned the way of the Knight-Enchanter due to the similarities to the arcane warriors of her clan's histories.
With the help of all three of her advisors, Clan Lavellan survived the machinations of the Elder One, and Keeper Deshanna was installed as an elven representative on the new Wycome City Council.
Rhona romanced Sera, though their relationship ultimately fell apart due to differences in opinion over the existence of the elven gods.
In The Wrath of Heaven, and in fact throughout her time as the Inquisitor, Rhona resolutely denied being the Herald of Andraste.
During the events of In Hushed Whispers, Rhona allied with the mages.
In Here Lies the Abyss, Warden Stroud made a noble sacrifice in the Fade to distract Nightmare, and Rhona encouraged the Grey Wardens to rebuild.
In Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, Empress Celene was assassinated, Grand Duchess Florianne was killed, and Gaspard was installed as a puppet for Briala to rule through
In What Pride Had Wrought, Rhona respected the templar traditions, allied with the sentinels, and was ultimately the one who drank from the Well of Sorrows.
After averting Doom Upon All the World, Rhona's influence led to Leliana being elected as Divine Victoria.
Dragon Age: Inquisition – The Descent
In The Descent, Rhona travelled into the Deep Roads to uncover the source of earthquakes, and discovered the Titan.
Dragon Age: Inquisition – Jaws of Haakon
In Ameridan's End, Rhona met the last Inquisitor, and revealed the truth about his elven heritage to the world.
Dragon Age: Inquisition – Trespasser
In Trespasser, Rhona told Solas she would find a way to change his mind, and disbanded the Inquisition.

In having thought back to Dragon Age, over the years I have been crafting an au where all seven origin Wardens were recruited by Duncan and survived the Joining and would become the Heroes of Fereldan they were meant to be. Plus, the optional Orlesian Grey Warden from Awakening who would assist them in that continuation. Its changed a lot over the years and I think I’m finally satisfied with it.
And for Dragon Age 2, all three classes Hawke can be existing, but with a twist! One of them is human and the other two are an elf and dwarf who were adopted into the family who become the Champions of Kirkwall they’ll be known as.
Finally, Dragon Age Inquisition. All six potential Inquisitors survived the catastrophe, but only four of them bear the shared mark within their respective hands, and the other two becoming companions to them. All this existing within the same au saga! Here is what I have so far and I may add more to it. May or may not be a fic using all this, but I wanted to share my own ideas.
Dragon Age Origins (headcanons):
All seven Wardens from the six origins (including the elven mage/human mage) were recruited/saved by Duncan, survived the Joining, and kicked the Archdemon's ass together; with the addition of all the possible companions. Except Loghain, he got axed because fuck him. The Wardens are Joan Cousland (warrior/templar), Dante Amell (mage/shapeshifter), Sindra Aeducan (rogue/duelist), Verroth Brosca (warrior/berserker), Limerick Surana (mage/arcane warrior), Faelan Mahariel (rogue/ranger), Misha Tabris (warrior/champion). And the mabari hound of Joan’s is named Griffon. The mabari that they find and bonds with Verroth is named Barkspawn, a name they all can agree on thanks to Alistair’s suggestion.
Joan and Alistair knew each other as children from when Joan and her father and brother would travel to Redcliffe for important matters. A young Joan would join in on Alistair's antics around the castle, having become fast friends. During the summer months of those more innocent years, Joan and Alistair would play even more when he could stay with her and her family. When the time came that Alistair was forced to live in the Chantry, him and Joan would keep in touch to write letters over the years, even if it saddened the two that they could not play together anymore.
The voices/personality of each of the Wardens would be Joan - wise; Dante - suave; Misha - cocky; Limerick - mystical; Faelan - experienced; Verroth - violent; Sindra - smart.
Oren and Oriana are alive and well, not having been killed when Rendon Howe's men captured Cousland castle. Escaping to Antiva thanks to Joan and gang when arriving in Denerim to recruit Misha.
Faelan also has some facial scars from the Eluvian shards, and he feared seeing those, too. His animal companion is a Dalish Courser Dog named Sylvie. Faelan Mahariel gets miffed that Sylvie mated with Joan and Verroth's respective mabaris and expecting puppies, but he accepts this and looks forward to the puppies being born. He keeps one pup of five he names Plovie.
Sindra and Verroth at each other's throats when it came to choosing who to make the new king, they had their own reasons why. Sindra viewed Harrowmont as a friend to her father's and have been supporters of theirs for many years despite their traditionalist views and couldn't trust Bhelan after framing and getting her banished. But Verroth doesn't see it that way and wants better to change for Orzammar and for his sister and nephew, and the fact that Harrowmont will soon die to illness so he doesn't have a lot of faith in the man despite what Sindra claimed to say about him.
Verroth got into berserker training from Oghren to better channel his anger and smooth out his issues. And channel that anger against enemies.
Verroth wasn't in the mood to hear Sindra after she killed Leske, even if he betrayed them and attempted to get him to stop. Verroth thought he was getting through to him until he was killed. But that was his wishful thinking.
The other Wardens were concerned but must let time pass to see what happens before saying something. It was in the Deep Roads where someone gets hurt and Sindra and Verroth put their feud aside to help. Sindra did a lot of thinking and sees Verroth's point of view; that she should let the past go and put her pride aside.
Dante is a transman and Misha is a genderfluid and goes by she/her and he/him pronouns.
Joan romances Alistair and Ser Gilmore. Misha and Faelan romances Zevran. Dante and Limerick romances Morrigan and performed the Dark Ritual. Verroth and Sindra romances Leliana. Sindra and Verroth become a couple, and him being okay with Sindra also being with Leliana as he loved her, too.
Limerick loved being in the Circle, being grateful for not only learning to master his magic, but for the higher education he lacked living in Starkhaven with his financially troubled family. But later he does see from an outsider’s point of view that the Circle isn’t so kind. Limerick felt wronged for doing what he was told to do by Irving in exposing Jowan as a blood mage. It was hell for him when venturing out of Kinloch Hold for the first time as he felt like his legs were going to fall off from all the walking.
Verroth was the one who brought the flower back to the Kennel Master in Ostagar to treat the Mabari who would be named Barkspawn. Verroth can come across as rough, due to his former life as a Duster, but he does care those he's closest to. Leliana and his warden friends got him to open up more and find a connection with them. He was genuinely hurt when his best friend Leske betrayed him.
Misha looked up to her mother much of her life until she died. She loves her cousins and father just as much as well as the Alienage she was born and raised in. She learned how to fight with an axe since she was young. When the aspect of an arranged marriage came about, Misha wasn’t all for it, but the day came, and she met her would-be husband. It would not come to pass because of the Arl’s son. Misha killed several of the guards alongside her cousin. Misha didn’t hesitate to deny Vaughn’s deal and kill him and his friends to save her other cousin. Before she was to leave the Alienage to Ostagar, her father gave her mother’s weapon as a parting gift to her. She did express grief and remorse for the loss of her fiancée and kept the wedding ring he crafted to use in wedding with Faelan and Zevran.
Dante Amell had his own angst where it took him awhile to open up after he was separated from his family in Kirkwall. He thought him and his siblings were going to go to the same Circle, but that was not the case as they were scattered across Thedas. And as the years pass, those memories of them faded and couldn't remember what they sounded or look like. Dante having to accept that part of his family is gone, but at least he found out he has cousins in the Hawke family and that those he traveled with became his family. As happy as Limerick was in the Circle, even his eyes were opened to the cons of it. He feared of becoming Tranquil should he do something wrong and does his best to remind Dante of it.
After slaying the Archdemon, each of the seven wardens went on their own paths: Joan reigned as queen alongside Alistair, eventually blessing him with twin heirs, Duncan and Rose, then having Roderick Gilmore’s son Theodore, to raise and love; having found a way conceive with more success.
Verroth remained with Leliana and Sindra, bringing a baby girls, Andrea and Amaia.
Misha and Faelan traveled across the lands with Zevran on their own quest across Thedas, with Misha birthing two boys, River and Juno a year later, from all the lovemaking.
Sindra was rightfully titled the new Warden-Commander of Fereldan, with Verroth being her Warden-Constable.
As for Dante and Limerick, they traveled across Thedas in search for Morrigan to be with her and their son Keiran. Luckily, with the help of old friends and new, he accomplished this and traveled through the eluvian with Morrigan.
Her name being Lucia. They have a daughter named Rowan together and is the same age as her cousin Connor. Lucia, having been quite the warrior in the tourneys Teagan loved attending and she impressed him. Rowan does resemble a lot like Teagan's late older sister as well as her mannerisms. Lucia loves rowan trees and has a twig as a good luck charm she preserved. Lucia and young Rowan were right by Teagan's side to defend Redcliffe from the undead back then, but also used as puppets by a possessed Cole. Despite not always liking Lady Isolde, Lucia wouldn't want her dead and was relieved it wouldn't come to it.
Rowan had been most worried about Connor and wanted him saved. She believed in Joan and the group to accomplish it. Rowan would be named heir by her uncle Earl Eamon to succeed him when he retires. In place of Teagan, Rowan was content to become in charge of Redcliffe when she came of age when she turned 20. Rowan fancied Bevin in adulthood upon hearing of his adventuring and found him charming, having first met him at a party as a child as Bevin's sister Kaitlyn owns a foundry and became successful in Denerim. Rowan was born in 9:20 Dragon.
Cador is the older brother of Rowan and only son of Teagan and Lucia Guerrin. He was born in 9:16 Dragon.
Major choices: Connor was saved without having to sacrifice his mother, Isolde. The Sacred Ashes were preserved with the dragon not being slain. Bhelen was made King of Orzammar and the Anvil of the Void destroyed, killing Branka. Brokered peace between the werewolves and elves, Zatherian sacrificing his life to break the curse. Saved Redcliffe from the undead. Recruited Jowan into the group. Liberated the Circle of Magi from demons and saved the remaining mages, including Irving. In Soldier's Peak, they allowed Avernus to continue his research, but more ethical means than before and killed the demon that possessed Sophia's body. Fulfilled all the companion’s quests with positive results, including the one where the Wardens "killed" Flemeth, and every other possible quest with mostly positive results.
When the seven Wardens entered the Fade by the Sloth demon in the Circle, they each saw their own unique dreams. Joan saw that her whole family was happy and alive again. Verroth seeing that his mother began to treat him right, meeting his father for the first time, seeing his sister happy with her husband and child. Sindra dreamed that her brother was alive and that Bhelen getting respect equally, with the addition of getting together with Gorim. Limerick dreamt of becoming First Enchanter of the College of Magi, though was the first to saw it as nothing more than a dream and worked to free his fellow wardens from Sloth. Misha in her dream too saw what could have been if Nelaros was not killed and her mother being alive. Faelan in his dream saw an image he himself imagined of what his parents looked like, and that his friend Tamlen was never tainted. Dante Amell dreamed of being a free man, using the opportunity to see his mother and family in Kirkwall until he began to see the faults within the dream.
Of course, there were many things each of the wardens did not agree on when it came to certain choices. To name one big example was deciding who to crown King of Orzammar. Coming back to the dwarvan city caused great turmoil between Sindra and Verroth, the two arguing in anger, causing a temporary rift within the group that lasted until they killed the Broodmother. It was there that they settled on the decision on Bhelen becoming Orzammar's king, believing he would last much longer than Harromont would've, yet Sindra still hated the decision after Harrowmont’s execution.
Sindra loved both of her brothers, despite them getting on her nerves at times. She felt that her older brother Trian did not deserve to be killed and was genuinely caught off when Bhelen betrayed her.
Sindra knew King Cailan, as children, when the late King Maric and his son would be invited by her king-father to watch Proving's sometimes. Her and Cailan would play together, but lost touch over the years.
Dante Amell had an older brother and younger sister, Virgil, and Hannah. However, he was separated from them when he and his sibs were discovered to have magic. Dante aimed to know what happened to them. They're both alive and doing their best to survive, he would find out thanks to Limerick helping him find them across the Free Marches during their travels.
It would be few months after the Archdemon was slain where Dante gave birth to his and Limerick' first son, Anders 2, who will become an older brother to Kieran when they officially meet after finding Morrigan.
During the events of Awakening, Sindra was promoted to Warden-Commander and Verroth as Warden-Constable and the rest of the Wardens would come to assist with whatever they needed for old times’ sake. A Grey Warden from Orlais was sent to them in good faith named Arianne Caron (mage/battlemage). The three would work together in recruiting new Grey Wardens into their fold in order to defend the Keep and Amaranthine from the darkspawn threat. And would help their companions through their own troubles.
Arianne Caron is a straightforward woman who is new to Fereldan and its customs and is fascinated with how the Heroes of Fereldan manage warden duties so… unlike how she was taught in the order. She watches and learns under the seven and can’t help to admire them and learning of their adventures. Arianne has a child back home she hopes will be alright while she is in Fereldan for a while, but would have her adopted son Orland come stay with her in Fereldan full time. She gets together with Nathaniel Howe.
With Nathaniel Howe, the pregnant Queen of Fereldan Joan would chat with him and convince him he should join the Grey Wardens and is remorseful for what happened to the remainder of his family and doesn’t blame him for what his father did. And imprisoned those who conspired with Rendon Howe.
With Velanna, Faelan would be able to put her at ease with their presence in meeting fellow elves and help her get her sister back, however they can.
With Oghren, Verroth and Misha would have a time convincing him to get back with his wife and mend their relationship.
With Justice, they convince him he can leave the deceased body of the former warden for his wife to have buried. Justice ending up possessing Anders’ cat Ser Pounce-A-Lot.
With Anders, he is happy to see Dante and Limerick again after so long since their Circle days. And they help him be on his way without issue when the mission is complete.
With Sigrun, she is excited to meet Verroth and Sindra and gets their autographs as they were inspiring to her as a dwarf.
They chose to spare the Architect and managed to keep both the Keep and Amaranthine from falling to destruction.
Sindra, Verroth and Arianne take up the mission in Amgarrak and succeeded.
During the Witch Hunt, Dante and Limerick are aided by Faelan and Joan, her mabari Griffon to find Morrigan and learn of her fate. Dante and Limerick would walk into the Eluvian with Morrigan to be with her and their son, and the others retrieved the book in turn.
_________________________________________________________________
Dragon Age 2 (headcanons and au):
There was not one, but three Hawke's: Estelle (reaver warrior, diplomatic/helpful), Damian (blood mage, humorous/charming), and Abigail (assassin rogue, aggressive/direct).
Both Carver and Bethany live, as they were saved by their siblings from the ogre in time.
Anders never merged with Justice and got to keep Ser-Pounce-Alot, with said cat becoming possessed by Justice and stays that way. The cat having become Anders’ familiar in a sense.
Merrill never attempted to rebuild the mirror, instead the real reason she had to leave the clan was because she turned to blood magic to gain more knowledge from a demon. Velana would tell Keeper Marethari to get her shit together and help convince her and the Clan to move on and back to Fereldan now that the Blight ended.
Their shared mabari is named Falcon.
Bethany and Carver were left at home while their siblings went on the Deep Roads expedition. When Bethany was taken to the Circle, this further encouraged Carver to join the Templar Order to keep Bethany safe.
Abigail and Anders got married a year after the expedition, having two sons Malcolm and Dante. Damian romances Isabella and Fenris, having a son and daughter Adrian and Adelle. Estelle romances Varric and Merrill, living with him at the Hanged Man, then eventually having daughters named Tonya and Toriel.
Orsino NEVER became a Harvester; instead, sacrificing his life to stop Meredith in the final battle.
Abigail has issues managing her anger and doesn’t want her friends and family to be pushed around. Damian uses his humor to mask his negative emotions in front of most people, pretending to be fine when he’s not fine. Estelle wants to be helpful and find solutions to not feel like a burden to those around her, even if it’s not true, having stemmed from being abandoned and being different than the rest of the family. Abigail, Bethany, and Carver would fight anyone who says Damian and Estelle aren’t family because of what race they each are.
________________________________________________________________
Dragon Age Inquisition (headcanons):
All four "potential" Inquisitors survived the Conclave; four out of the six sharing the power of the Anchor. Their names being: Nico Cadash (warrior/reaver), Lorna Lavellan (mage/rift mage), Ivan Trevelyan (mage/knight-enchanter) and Rasha Adaar (rogue/artificer). Lorna being the main Inquisitor.
Managing to recruit both the Templars and Mages, making them cooperate to close the Breach. Lorna, Nico and Liam helped the mages in Redcliffe, while Iris, Ivan and Rasha went to help the templars, putting an end to the war. Merrill drinks from the fountain as Morrigan isn’t there to do it.
Lorna romances Solas, conceived a lovechild before he left for those years before Trespasser, birthing a son named, Lunas, and giving him all the love and care he needs. Ivan romances Cassandra and Galyan and have twins name Mason and Madeline. Rasha romances Blackwall and Josephine both and has a few kids with them. Liam romances Iron Bull and Dorian both and has one child. Nico romances Josephine and has children. Iris and Cullen married and have three kids name Ryder, Samuel, and Felicia.
Cassandra's mage lover lives and has children with him. Sera and Dagna are in a relationship. And so are Dorian and Iron Bull.

To Start Anew
Fandom: Dragon Age: Origins
Ship: F!Aeducan x Gorim
Warnings: None
Genre: Angst
WC: 1933
Blurb: After the ultimate betrayal, Terra Aeducan has been exiled to the deep roads. Through extraordinary circumstances, she fights her way to the surface and becomes Thedas’s last hope against the coming blight. However, during her journey she must deal with painful truths about her family, her life back in Orzammar, and what her future may be.
They had only just arrived in Denerim. Terra Aeducan, with Alistair, Morrigan, and an affectionate Mabari in tow, had come in search of Andraste’s ashes. The hunt for allies against the oncoming blight had hardly begun, yet they were all bone tired. It was the exhaustion that led her to believe that she was imagining things. That Gorim’s sweet, warm voice was only in her mind. Even so, the sound pulled her towards the center of town, like a chain wrapped around her middle was dragging her forwards.
“Are you alright?” Alistair asked, seeing the color had drained from her face.
“I just… I’m going to step away for a bit. I’ll meet you at the inn, yeah?”
Alistair nodded, though reluctantly. Alistair was tooth-rottingly sweet and Terra tried to summon the best smile she could to set him at ease and send him away. He was becoming a quick and dear friend to her, and she didn’t want him to see her in what seemed to be a lapse in sanity.
“Dwarven crafts!”
There it was again. Terra, her spine now stiff as stone, hurried away and through the bustling streets, following the voice. Dwarven crafts? It could be anyone though. Any number of low-born Orzammar men who left for the surface could be in town. It wasn’t uncommon, and neither was the accent. It probably wasn’t him, wouldn’t be him, couldn’t be him. She rounded the corner and in the square she saw him
Terra’s hands tremored. Words like “I missed you,” “I found you,” and “thank the fucking stone,” all caught in her throat. Her hands grasped at it desperately, trying to free them. Because there he was. Just a few yards away stood her best friend and the man she loved: Gorim.
She tried to call out his name, but only pitiful, strangled noises escaped her lips. But he saw her. His face – it was tanner now; it had finally seen the sun – lit up in shock, disbelief, joy. All the things she felt were reflected back to her. Her throat was still sealed shut, but her feet started moving. Suddenly she was running, running faster than she had ever run, straight into arms that opened wide at the sight of her. Solid, strong arms that knew the curve and the shape of her body so well. Arms that slid into their place so easily, it was like slipping on a pair of gloves. For the first time since she left Orzammar, her feet felt firmly planted on the ground. She was finally rooted to the earth the way she used to be, and the sky wasn’t threatening to swallow her whole anymore.
For a few blissful seconds, the Blight was far away, and Bhelen never betrayed her. With tearful eyes, Gorim studied her face with an intensity that felt like he was boring into her soul. He looked as if he were taking inventory of her features, ensuring that each one was accounted for and just as he remembered them. “I knew you would make it out. I never stopped believing,” he said softly. Suddenly his face changed, lighting up as if he were remembering something.
“I have something for you.” He bent down to a chest that lay under the table. After a few moments of rummaging, he produced a letter. “Before I left for the surface, King Endrin sent me with this. We both hoped against hope that I would find you up here.”
Terra’s heart, which was already pounding, somehow beat even harder at these words. “Father? How is he?” The thought of seeing her father again filled her with so much joy and longing she could hardly stand it. She felt like her heart was swelling so large it was pressing against her ribs.
“Oh, my lady…I’m so sorry,” Gorim said, in a voice so sad and soft it sent bolts of fear down Terra’s spine. But she knew what those words meant. The pressure in her chest deepened and sunk to reach down into her stomach too. She felt faint.
“If a man can die of a broken heart… King Endrin did.”
“But what happened to him?” She asked, trying to hold back the tears. Gorim hesitated, but Terra’s hard look of pain and determination gave him the permission he needed to part with the grisly details. “After Trian’s death-…no, murder, Endrin was stricken with too much grief and confusion to see that Bhelan had constructed it all. It didn’t take long for him to find his mind again, but by then it was already too late. You were already locked in the deep roads. That’s why it all happened so quickly. That bastard Bhelen knew he had to dispose of you before the shock of it all wore off.” Gorim looked at his feet and took a long, shaky breath before continuing. “It was like he just… wasted away. He couldn’t go on living, like he was a ghost.”
Terra squeezed his hand. She focused on that feeling; homed in on the way he callouses rubbed against the palm of her hand. It was the only tangible thing keeping her anchored to reality. Gorim looked at her for a reassurance that she wanted him to continue. She nodded grimly. She was sick to her stomach, but she had to know the whole story. It was her duty as a daughter and as an Aeducan.
“When he called me to him, just before I left… the room stank of decay. It was as if he had already been long dead. He was already a corpse, just waiting for his time to return to the stone. All he could talk about was you.” His other hand took hold of her shoulder, steadying her. She hadn’t even realized she was swaying. “Terra, he sent me with more than just a letter.”
Gorim fished in his pocket and took out a worn velvet purse. Among the coins glinted a chunk of golden metal. Terra blinked her tears away and saw that no, it wasn’t a nugget. It was the Aeducan signet ring. Trian’s ring.
He gently placed it in her hand and folded it into a fist.
“He loved you, Terra. That nug-fucker Bhelen, he’s not a real Aeducan. You’re the true last heir, and your father knew it. You deserve this, and no one else. He made that much clear.”
The ring felt heavy in her hand, like she held all of Orzammar in her palm. In a way, she supposed, she did. But she felt that she could bear it as long as Gorim held her other hand.
“I’m just so glad I found you. Thank the stone, thank the stone…” Terra drew herself closer to him, ready to step back into his embrace and find his lips. But a look she couldn’t quite decipher crossed his face, and he took a step back.
“My lady, there’s something else I should tell you. I’ve, well… I’ve found a life on the surface. A blacksmith’s daughter; we’re expecting our first. She’s… she’s lovely and…” Gorim trailed off, not knowing how to continue.
The world seemed to go still around her. Her heart, which had been thumping loudly in her ears just moments before, fell quiet. A few seconds passed, but they felt like centuries.
“I don’t understand…” Terra’s voice quivered, and she hated herself for it. “You said you’ve been waiting for me.”
Gorim’s face flushed red and he looked down at his feet. “I have been, of course. But… well…” Gorim stammered, his shoulders slumped. Terra thought that he looked almost like a scolded child caught stealing sweets before supper. She almost laughed at the absurdity of it. He had been in Denerim for how long? Two months now, maybe? And he still hasn’t come up with a good explanation as to how he tripped and fell into a smith’s girl, all while claiming to ‘know she had made it out’.
He mustered the courage to meet her gaze again and flushed an even deeper red. He had always been able to tell what she was thinking, as if her very mind was binded to his own. She could feel his shame radiating off of him like a sickness. He knew he had done wrong. He knew that as a knight, he had acted shamefully. And she knew it too. Some dark corner of her soul felt gratified in this, gleeful in his self-loathing. She felt the anger rising.
“So let me make sure I understand,” she began, her words already dripping in venom. “You know, or hoped, or believed or what have you, that I was alive on the surface. And you, as my second, sworn to serve and protect me until death, fucked me and whispered sweet nothings to me in Orzammar. But when you’re separated from me for two months – oh, less than that actually, since she’s already knocked up – you decided to live it up with the first surfacer you see?”
Gorim’s eyes filled with tears. “It wasn’t like that,” he said firmly, but she could hear the tremble in his voice.
“Then what was it like?”
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too, but I didn’t jump in bed with a surfacer. I searched for you Gorim.”
“My lady… We never could have been together. You know that.”
All of a sudden she understood, and the tears she had been holding back came slipping across her face. It didn’t matter what happened, or what he believed. Gorim was an outcast, a surfacer. Je was stripped of his caste his family name. But Terra? To him, she was still Lady Aeducan, and she always would be. Even if they had stayed in Orzammar, if Bhelen had never betrayed them, he would still think himself beneath her. He might have loved her perhaps, but he would have walked away eventually. He could never see himself as more than her second.
She realized she had been squeezing the signet ring in her hand. She relaxed her fist and saw her house crest bored into her palm like a brand. Gorim watched her as she first tried it on her ring finger and then settled with slipping it on her thumb. Trian’s hands had been bigger than hers.
Gorim reached out to comfort her, but drew back, unsure of himself. “My lady, if I had known you were alive…”
Terra glanced back up at him scornfully. “Either you did, or you didn’t.”
He reared back as if he had been struck, but he knew he deserved it. She saw no trace of resentment in his eyes. She looked at him for a hard moment and her anger fizzled out, leaving her with nothing but a cold hollow in her stomach and the crushing weight of her loneliness. Gorim’s cheeks were wet from silent tears.
“I hope I’ll have time to meet her soon,” Terra said.
“I’d like that. My door is always open to you.”
“I love you, Gorim. I hope you’re happy,” she confessed. Her heart gave one last weak tug at what had been between them.
“The same for you.”
She immediately recognized that he had not confirmed his happiness, and Gorim saw it in her face. Before he could say anything else, she turned away to rejoin her group.
Terra glanced up at the sky, vast and unending above her. Her family crest rested upon her finger and its weight, though heavy, was a comfort to her. She had a blight to end, and she didn’t need Gorim to do it.

Aeducan didn’t exactly have much choice - considering they were exiled on a political basis, an exile fastracked by Bhelan, with a show trial that didn’t even let them make a case, it wasn’t about what made more sense for them to join but who they came upon first. It was the Wardens, not the Legion. Sure, Harrowmont sent them looking for the Wardens as well, but that was because he was looking at how they might survive - the Wardens has left only a short time before, were still fairly close. The Legion meant going through the heart of darkspawn held Deep Roads.
CONFESSION:
After learning the lore of the legion of the dead, it makes much more sense to me that warden Aeducan would have joined the legion instead of the grey wardens and that kinda bugs me

World State #4 - Cut These Knotted Ties
We will cut these knotted ties, And some may live and some may die
from "Enchanter" in Inquisition
--
Morag Aeducan | Astor Hawke | Eldrien Trevelyan
This is my specific mlm world state. We've got Morag, who romanced Zevran. Astor, who romanced Fenris, and Eldrien, who romanced Dorian
Morag decided to push his personal feelings aside and do what was best for the Dwarven people by supporting Bhelan for the throne in Orzammar. He managed to keep the peace in the Circle. But diplomacy failed him at the Landsmeet and Alistair was banished from the Wardens. Morag did perform the Dark Ritual with Morrigan, much to his distaste (he does like being alive though!)
Astor believed in freedom and did everything he could to support the mages, especially after Bethany was killed during the Expedition.
Eldrien supported the mages over the Templars for support in closing the Breach. Loghain stayed behind in the Fade, and Eldrien supported Gaspard for Emperor. He refused to drink from the Well of Sorrows
He did keep the Inquisition as a peacekeeping force, convinced he needs something to occupy his time when Dorian is in Tevinter. But he does want to save his friend from himself

! in light of that oc post you rb'd. consider this an opportunity to talk about ur ocs. basics, dnd alignment, ur fav things you've come up for them, what makes you/their LI deranged abt them, top moment living rent free in ur head for them, (free space here) hehehe
You are too kind. 💙
Truly, when it comes to player characters I have too many. Rather than one "canon" world state I have an ever-growing pile of them, which I sit atop like a dragon on its treasure hoard.
So today I think I'll take this as an excuse opportunity to talk about Noble Hearts, even though I don't currently have any fic written for any of them. Generally for each world state I pick a theme, and each character is a variation on it, so the theme of this one is nobility.
Brenna Aeducan
How it started:
How it's going:
Brenna Aeducan starts out in full Noble Asshole mode, does not speak to commoners, etc. Over the course of her journey, she falls in love with Alistair, puts him on the throne, and sacrifices herself to kill the archdemon.
Her arc is about learning the true meaning of nobility. It's a journey from Lawful Evil to Lawful Good.
Favorite Brenna moments:
She puts Bhelan on the throne.
Bhelan, you outplayed me. You won. I will not allow House Aeducan to fall simply to spite you. I will see you on the throne. But never forget who put you there.
Connor dies. Brenna knows nothing about magic. She takes the Knight-Commander at his word when he says the Circle is lost. She accidentally reveals Morrigan as an apostate and Wynne attacks them, forcing Brenna to kill her and leaving her no further reason to consider sparing the mages. So when they subsequently go to Redcliffe, there is no third option, and she's not about to do a blood magic ritual, so the child has to die. (This ends up being a very rough patch in her relationship with Alistair.)
Favorite romance moment: When she realizes that Alistair's destiny is to rule his people, and she will never be his queen... and puts him on the throne anyway. And Alistair's goodbye in Denerim, where he knows damn well what she's about to do: "I won't forget you. I'll make sure they don't forget you."
The Warden for Awakening is also a dwarf, Devari Kader, who was born casteless before leaving and becoming a Grey Warden. She finds it absolutely bonkers to be not only a noble but a noble ruling humans. Also baffled by the fact that everyone keeps calling her "Orlesian."
Emilia Hawke
The one I call Terrible Hawke (affectionate and derogatory).
How it started:
How it's going:
Emilia Hawke starts out protective of her little sister, though maybe with a bit of resentment brewing under the surface. She loses Bethany in the Deep Roads. Over the course of her arc she slides toward more and more extreme pro-templar behavior until Leandra's murder just sends her completely off the rails. By Act III she is a full-on anti-mage fanatic who believes that magic is a curse and it was a blessing from the Maker that he called Bethany back to his side before she could fall to corruption.
Emilia was an exercise in "Let's make a Hawke who sides with the templars at the end and fully believes they're doing the right thing."
If you ask her, she's Lawful Good. (I'd call her Lawful Evil, lol.)
Favorite Emilia moments:
Bethany's death truly is the beginning of her long downward spiral, because she really did love her sister. With Bethany gone, over time her memory in Emilia's mind is twisted into an idealized portrait of the "Good Mage." One who was meek and righteous (neither of which accurately describe who Bethany really was), never gave into temptation, and most importantly, died young and pure. That distorted image of Bethany helps her rationalize things later that Bethany would never have approved of, without ever admitting to herself how deeply she has dishonored her sister's memory.
Romance: She romances Sebastian and ends up taking those Chantry vows with him. They're a chaste and devout religious power couple who enable some of each other's worst traits and mutually cockblock each other so hard (Emilia constantly encourages him to keep his Chantry vows despite clearly wanting to bang him) I have to say that both of them on some level get off on denying each other and themselves. They deserve each other. 💙
Incidentally in addition to taking Chantry vows, Emilia has the Templar specialization. Which means that for a brief time, Kirkwall has a Viscount who is an actual Chantry Sister and "unofficial" templar. Love that for them.
Theodore Trevelyan
How it started:
How it's going:
Theo is "the spare" of his family, and he knows it. So when this "Herald of Andraste" thing drops in his lap, he seizes it with both hands. Why yes, I am the Chosen One! Thank you for asking!
And he wants so badly to believe it.
Alignment: Lawful Stupid. Would in theory like to be Good but is completely unpracticed at any kind of complex moral reasoning.
Favorite Theo moments:
His confidence takes its first big hit at Halamshiral, where he makes a fantastic cock-up of it and ends up with Gaspard as Emperor not by choice but because he can't make a decision and just stands there gawping while his people are waiting for orders, and Celene gets stabbinated in front of him. And then everyone praises him and acted like he made this happen on purpose. He does not walk away feeling good about this.
And then the Fade is like "Yeah you weren't saved by Andraste lol."
Incidentally, Emilia's anti-mage fanaticism unnerves even bland milquetoast pro-templar Theo to the point that it contributes to him leaving her in the Fade, even though he feels really guilty about it because of Varric.
Also a big fan of the scene where he gets yelled at by Solas, who is deeply unimpressed with him.
Romance: He falls hard for Cassandra, which really makes things awkward when he starts to doubt his Chosen-ness because deep down he knows there's nothing else remarkable about him and he's not handsome or charming enough to get by on that alone, and what if she only ever liked him because she thought he was chosen by the Maker?
Probably his greatest moment of character growth is when he learns that Cassandra is a candidate for Divine, and realizes that if he supports her, he's probably going to lose her. And he decides to support her anyway because he loves her and can't stand in the way of her calling if it's the Maker's will.
Thanks for letting me introduce you to my awful children!

So until this week, I thought there was no way to find any hard evidence about what happened in Orzammar before you got there during the main quest "A Paragon of Her Kind" in Dragon Age: Origins. There are some vague letters and rumors and some poison mysteriously showing up in the Royal Palace, but nothing conclusive about what happened if you didn't play the Dwarven Noble origin.
It turns out that you can betray either Bhelan or Harrowmont after the first task they give you and go convince the other that you're actually on their side. And if you betray Bhelan to work for Harrowmont, you demonstrate your loyalty to the latter by finding documents in Jarvia's hideout proving that Bhelan was behind Trian's murder. (If you flip the other way, Vartag Gavorn has you plant documents near Jarvia's body that supposedly implicate Harrowmont's cousin in lyrium smuggling.)
The best way to get as much information as possible, it turns out, is to work for Bhelan and then double-cross him. (And you can still give him the crown later, if you want, since you can choose either of them after the Deep Roads regardless of who you helped before.)

Willing to sacrifice people close to them to secure their power
Overall more progressive policies than their predecessors or rivals
Also willing to kill a whole bunch of those people their policies benefit if necessary to secure their power
Still ultimately more progressive than their rival, distasteful as that may be
Current fic project is really hitting me in the face with some parallels between Bhelan and Celene that I never thought about before.
