Aeducan fam gather- so taking into account what Gorim says about thr Proving's in f!Aeducan's honor being made with hope some noble will sweep her of her feet... how high were the chances that it was actually Harrowmont and Endrin trying to set her up with one of Harrowmont nephews?

Argument in favor- think how funny it would be if king Endrin was doing all this to make sure his favourite child marries into his best bro's family and it all goes unnoticed while his heir Trian is doing his best to impress one girl and failing miserably.

It's interesting to note how the Tabris Origin, which involves a wedding, kidnapping and attempted sexual harassment, and fighting your way through an estate full of guards, is the Origin where gender plays a huge role in what story you experience. M!Tabris will always storm the castle coming to the rescue of his cousin and his betrothed, while F!Tabris will always have to fight her way out because the men in her life can't fully protect her (Nelaros dies, Soris literally hands her the sword, Cyrion is powerless to stop the abduction. Okay, this may be a little unfair to Soris who does fight side by side with Tabris and counsels caution the same way regardless of Tabris's gender). I'd go so far as to say that Tabris is the only Origin where the gender of your PC has a definite impact on the story.

TLDR to the rant in the tags: Tabris is constrained on all sides by being an elf, by their gender, in part by their family, and by society at large (both the Alienage and the wider city).

honestly the worst thing abt this tho is that as much as i am attached to that worldstate i KNOW i cannot use it in da4 because ive just. wriggled my claws in so deep and for inqusition especially there is sooo much i've changed bc the writing in inquisition drives me BONKERS. so like. i just know whatever they say in da4 i am probably just inherently going to hate, so i NEED to work on a new worldstate (and i am actively attempting to) but ..... guh. effort.

Obsessed w the thought of Ri being so floored by the slowness of Zevran vs Gorim. From quickies in shady alleys of orzammar and getting exactly what she wants when she wants it without question to slow massages at camp, having to beg and beg for more, and finding a deep love from introspection mutual understanding.

I've stumbled upon a similar argument before and while I think that the writers just genuinely didn't think about it, you could patch it up with other lore.

For instance, the whole shebang with Wardens is that they can fight Darkspawn, because they're immune to Blight. They're technically immune because they are sort-of like darkspawn, already. They have a weak connection with their hivemind etc.

What I'm getting at, is that I don't think the Grey Wardens can be made into Darkspawn at all. (Corypheus excluded, he's special). They're already infected, another infection wouldn't work on them. Broodmothers are described as a type of ghouls, and altough I don't think that we've seen any Warden who's eaten darkspawn meat, I also don't think that Wardens can become ghouls. The main advantage of Wardens' Joining is that they cannot be harmed by the continous exposure to the Taint.

However, it has a lot worse implications for female Aeducan's origin. Because you don't have the Grey Wardens' resistance to the Taint back then. And you're sentenced to death by being sent into the Deep Roads.

Do they know they likely sentence you to the fate worse than death? Does your father, the king KNOWS that Duncan will be there or did he count on your luck in finding him in a labirynth of tunnels? He seemed to hope you'll get out alive - hence the letter he gave to Gorim. But what if he miscalculated? Did he know the consequences? Did he really think that the honor of the house was worth it?

not to advocate for MORE sexism in bioware games or anything like that but like...the "gender equality" in DAO is so poorly thought out and by that I am SPECIFICALLY referring to women in the Grey Wardens.

Sure yeah Alistair makes that off-hand comment about how "there aren't many women in the wardens" that's more indicative of the writing team's sexism than anything else, but genuinely speaking I think there's actually a valid reason for women to not be allowed in the Grey Wardens.

You cannot tell me that Alistair and the HoF were the first to discover what Broodmothers were and how they were made. You cannot tell me that Grey Wardens have been fighting back Darkspawn for centuries and they do not know about Broodmothers. And if the Grey Wardens know about Broodmothers, then they must know that sending female Grey Wardens down into the Deep Roads is a bad fucking plan.

I can understand concessions being made during a Blight; hell, being a Grey Warden is such a Shit Job that I can understand the Grey Wardens being willing to take in anyone. But like...the women who join cannot go down into the Deep Roads for their Calling. And I would argue that them going down into the Deep Roads at all is a bad plan unless they've got some equivalent of a suicide pill with them in case of capture by Darkspawn.

It honestly is baffling to me that there's NO mention of protocols for female grey wardens during their Calling or expeditions to the Deep Roads being different AT ALL. All it would take is Alistair saying something along the lines of "So that's why there's so few women in the Wardens" after they discover the Broodmother.

Because a woman joining the Wardens isn't just risking death.

She's risking a horrific, violating transformation that turns her into a creature that endangers everyone.

Ever wondered how the events in DA:Origins would have gone if all the possible origins characters had survived?

Here you go: Aenor Mahariel's the newest, unwilling Warden recruit. But Natia Brosca, Geralt Amell, Kallian Tabris, Elissa Cousland and Duran Aeducan are all alive and kicking and definetly won't stand aside as the Blight and their enemies destroy Ferelden. This is just the first part of a way longer project up to Inquisition where I use multiple origins for Warden, Hawke and Inquisitor, DA2 has already been written in full but not translated yet. I feel like it's important to say that all of this came to life because I couldn't romance Jowan as a Male Amell and I found that so unacceptable I had to start writing my own canon out of spite. Shipping and spite are the backbone of everything I do.

- F!Aeducan, who despises her military role and just wants to be a proper lady, but constantly gets dragged into fighting. And then she meets Leliana who completely reshape her perseption of the warrior/lady conflict;

- F!Aeducan, who is too afraid to become a mother and get to attached to the baby, knowing she was raised as a warrior and most likely gonna die in battle and leave her child in a dwarven political meat grinder

- Aeducan, who is too careless and irresponsible (rightfully noted by Trian), and treats war and intrigue as a game, up until the moment he's thrown face first into real fights and real danger and real responsibility after the exile, and slowly toughens up and takes more serious approach to life

- M!Aeducan, who had child with Morrigan and Mardy, and is torn between different responsibilities he has to take, and have to choose one life over the other

- And all the different feelings about brothers, and their father, and their house, and their country middle Aeducan can have

Just... If you didn't get it - I LOVE the potential of noble origin
