Caradoc bowing back to Gale's "You are now in front of Gale Dekarios" bow. Dorks. I love it so much.
THEY WEREN'T KIDDING WHEN THEY DECIDED THAT ONE OF THE MOTIFS OF GALE'S ROMANCE WAS "HANDS"
The really cute kiss in front of a painting as a call back to Gale's other romance scenes (especially the one in Act 2) is very cute and scenographic
also for one second I thought he was gonna propose on his knee and I was full of despair but no, the man is just that happy you accepted to marry him that he does that. completely unprompted. i love him.
#antiqua plays bg3#don't ask me why but I find the old style 'proposal while talking to someone eye to eye' way better than the one on one knee but I truly do#no one mention wyll he's an exception to all my rules#bg3 spoilers#bg3 patch 6#also if anyone is wondering no I never put neither caradoc or gale in fancy clothes. they can stay in their comfy pijamas forever#bg3: caradoc#bg3 caradoc#btw i love that all of gale's kisses end up inevitably covered by caradoc's horns. it's very them.#it's like when they camera pans to them and you can see his ridicously long tail

sobbing screaming biting thrashing at the post game for Caradoc (my durge) 😩🥺🫠
End game Spoilerssssss
he fought so hard against the dark urges, found love in karlach and close friendship in astarion and halsin and gale…constantly dreamed about and worked toward getting a happily ever after with karlach. having a family with her. (adopting of course, no more bhaalspawn from him!!). He died and came back new and empty and whole and dreaming. Dreaming dreams that weren’t so far away and fantastical anymore. A fresh start! And not a week later, every dream is shattered. He is Alone. He knew Karlach didn’t want to return to Avernus, so he was sobbing and scared but he was with her until she was gone and then he’s….alone and empty and broken and all he wants to do is let himself waste away but he can’t because he was brought back and what a waste of a life that would be but what is living without his love and he’s just wrecked….completely and utterly wrecked…..
#bg3 spoilers#durge spoilers#i'm so 😭😭😭😭#I played thru a couple endings and….Caradoc was so soft he wouldn’t make karlach go back to avernus that’s not a life he wants them to live#always on edge and on the run and fighting for their lives#that’s not what they deserve#it would be fun at first ofc fuck zariel! but…..#it wouldn’t last#it couldn’t

Here is Gale with Caradoc Howell, who went from working for a shopkeeper (grocery shop in Baldur's Gate) to working for another shopkeeper (Rolan in Sorcerous Sundries) and saved in the world in the middle despite his wild magic doing everything to stop him.
featuring Caradoc's horns covering all their kisses and the beautiful contrast between their hands.
And finally one of them where they are not in their casual clothes that they are indeed very casual because Caradoc's subscribes to Gale's "you guys can wear all the leather and crop tops you want but I am going to BED" lifestyle.
to be fair if all their every day clothes were elaborated robes and jewelries I would also not bother in my casual chill time.
one last pic of caradoc, the married man (althought in my head did this not happen before the party, have you SEEN gale. that man is not planning a small cerimony in a chapel. that man is making some poor wedding planner in waterdeep wanting to quit)
MLM Galemancer roll call!
I wanna see your Gale husbands and increase visibility for Gale's beautiful romances with other men. Reblog and share a pic of your MLM Galemancer character or reblog to spread more visibility of Gale being with men~ Here's one of mine: this is Shams my Dark Urge sorcerer
#antiqua plays bg3#bg3#bg3: caradoc#i made caradoc and then played the game completely blind except for knowing about astarion being a vampire#it cracks me up how similiar he and gale ended up looking.#married for five years vibes and instead it's being like a month.#bet they ended up matching their clothes without even trying#bet tara starts comparing beard the SECOND she meets caradoc like oh god there is two of them. for the bit mostly.#but she DOES say it.

10, 11 for Caradoc?
Thanks!
10. Was your Tav in a relationship? How did it end?
Caradoc hasn’t been in a relationship for like…five years before the events of the game? And it wasn’t even a serious relationship, he just went out with this one girl for around three months. She really liked him and he was very willing to give it a try since he hadn’t had a crush (or more) on someone since he was twenty. It fizzed out very naturally and I think she actually moved to Waterdeep because her little brother is a cleric of Eilistraee and she wanted to study under some famous bard. I don’t think he would even recognise her, but he does remember some of the songs she used to like.
Since then he had a bunch of casual sex but nothing more, I think he was starting to think that he was just one of Nature’s natural bachelors before Gale started wagging his finger at him (yes, it was love at first sight, although it took him like a week to notice his own feelings).
11. Did your Tav know or know of any of the other characters?
He and Karlach are pretty sure they met before, they used to live in different parts of the city but they are close in age and used to go to some tiefling events at the Ilmater temple, so it must have happened. He wouldn’t have known of her as Gortash’ bodyguard because he was either still in school or only really knew some smugglers, not weapon dealers.
He normally would not have run into Astarion as he hunted in different parts of the city, but they probably were at the same Baldurian festival and never ran into each other. At least, he absolutely does not remember and if Astarion does he isn’t telling.
He knew of Jaheira and Minsc of course but he never ran into them, although Jaheira’s Jord did come to the shop he worked a couple of times on Jaheira’s behalf for “special orders”. He recognised him because there are not that many teenager half orc druids in Baldur’s Gate who can afford special orders (or who look reasonably happy and loved, sadly).

Ooh, I'd love to hear about #19 and #23, for any and all characters you'd like to talk about! :)
!! In a desperate attempt to keep this short, I will do #19 only for the three Tavs that have actually appeared on my blog and #23 only for Caradoc because he is the one I have most material on.
19. Any memories that stick out to you/your Tav about their life pre-tadpole?
Caradoc:
Around a year before the tadpole, it’s technically night but the birds are already singing outside, he’s drunk at the bakery his best friend works at. Their other close friend Kava has just left Baldur’s Gate like every summer to collect new material, new tales and new songs. Like every summer they are deeply aware that this might be the year she doesn’t come back. He’s looking at Felix, a Deep Gnome who almost was a Paladin but instead ran from the Underdark all the way to Baldur’s Gate, where he is now putting a fourth tray of bread in the oven, like every other night.
Caradoc wonders aloud how it must feel to love something so much you keep almost dying for it. Felix just snorts and says almost dying for things is vastly overrated. In his personal experience, their life would not be better if they almost died on a daily basis. His boss might suck but it is way better than a Duergar slaver. Or a Drow.
Caradoc doesn’t say anything because it’s four in the morning and he is drunk as hell and he doesn’t know how to explain that he is a Tiefling and a Wild Sorcerer and he loves his family and he loves his friends and his community and he even loves his job and he knows he is lucky but sometimes. Sometimes. He would like for his life to not be just about keeping his head down and getting from one day to the next.
Elendris:
Forty years after his marriage, ten years after his divorce, ten years before the tadpole, he is working alone at his workshop on a special sword he has been obsessing about for months, he is tired and sleep deprived and accidentally hits his hand. He drops everything immediately and as he is healing himself and feeling relieved that it’s nothing serious he remembers that before his wife used to heal him herself and take him to bed. He is one hundred and forty years old and she left because him because he is incapable of love. He will die alone.
Cedric:
It’s not a specific memory, but a promise. His parents died when he was around six, he ran away from the orphanage he was in when he was around nine and after a year of living on the streets he was taken in by a dragonborn druid who took pity on him and started training him. And he loved it - he liked that it made him feel close to his wood elf father, he liked that when he was a crow no one thought he was a girl, he liked that someone cared and he especially liked that his master was going to go back to his grove with him. It was a promise of a place where everything could be well and he could finally belong.
Then his master was robbed and murdered in the streets when he was thirteen and his choices were being a criminal with money or an honest man without it, which is not really a choice. The grove is not a promise anymore - just a dream. They would not approve of how he is using Silvanus’ gifts anyway.
23. Share any hcs/anything you want to say about your Tav’s backstory
Caradoc is a Mephistopheles Tiefling from his father’s side and while the details got lost during the way, they are pretty sure The Ancestor Who Fucked Up was a wizard in Thay (who then, presumably, was using his Tiefling children as slaves). Because when I read Mephistophele I think Faust.
While Caradoc was happy being Just Some Guy he did sometimes feel bitter about the fact that having to not “stand out” wasn’t exactly a choice. First, he is a Tiefling. Second, he is a Wild Sorcerer. Third, he is poor. There is a reason he learnt to bullshit like a pro.
Caradoc has three parents! His biological parents are both Tieflings and moved to Baldur’s Gate specifically so their children would face less discrimination and they could find a community with other Tieflings and similar Others. His human father is a ranger and gave him his surname and his name. The official story when they attract unwanted attention is that his human father is living with them because he is a dear family friend who lost a leg during a job.
Caradoc’s best friends before the tadpole are a Deep Gnome called Felix who left the Underdark “Because it sucks” and a dragonborn bard called Kava who moved to Baldur’s Gate to pursue her calling. He and Felix are also roommates. He can’t wait for them to meet his new best friends from tadpole times.
Caradoc’s contacts in the city aren't useful when it comes to defeating the Netherbrain but they are amazing after the battle is done. He can get the rest of the Tiefling refugees out of Wyrm’s Crossing and his friends don’t have to be homeless (although Felix had a heart attack when his best friend reappeared after going missing for weeks with a wizard and a vampire in tow).
He really likes dancing and he and his friends regularly went to a specific tavern in his neighborhood for it. He sometimes day dreamed of doing it with a partner but he never really fell in love before the tadpole. Gale is in for a treat.
He never told Wyll until Act 3, but like. Fuck the Fists. Little Caradoc did not have a good time with the Fists.

I am definitely not replaying Caradoc any time soon (definitely) but also today I gave up and made his parents in the character creator.
#antiqua plays bg3#I think they look a bit too young but also they should be in their fifties if caradoc is barely in his early thirties#let's assume it's the make up plus hair dye plus caradoc's mom mindful training everyone in this house keeps up with#also yes the classes are accurate#a random marcenary married a novice monk and they moved to baldur's gate where they fell in love with a beastmaster ranger#and their only child is a wild sorcerer. caradoc is just some guy but honestly that took commitment#he looked at his parents' lives and went NO and applied to d&d ALDI#yes caradoc ranger dad is blatantly based on morrigan dragon age#bg3: caradoc#bg3 caradoc#also his bio parents should be the tiefling ones but honestly they don't know and don't care#because after spending too much time reading tiefling lore I also decided I don't know and I don't care#I am partial to his dads being his bio parents and that being the reason why caradoc has wild magic but he also looks so much like his mom#these are the people morena dekarios now has to hang out with. I think she is delighted

Tav asks, 1, 3, 9, 19?
Thank you! Since no Tav was specified I picked my man Caradoc <3
what do they smell like at their freshest? (and/or after a tenday. your choice)
Usually, mostly of soap.
Caradoc comes from a poor working class family, so they can't afford fancy soap but I assume that tieflings often make a point of smelling nice AND DEFINITELY NOT LIKE SULFUR so they would probably make and effort to buy nicer smelling soap, which Caradoc just keeps buying once he moves out. What kind of soap the gang scavages during their trip is left to the imagination of the reader, but he sometimes smells like a rich old dowager (thanks, Shadowheart) because Gale would share his soap.
Once the gang arrives to Baldur’s Gate and they can all enjoy SUPPLIES THAT WERE NOT SCAVENGED OUT OF DEAD CORPSES AND ABANDONED RUINS, Astarion and Gale get the privilege of introducing Caradoc and Lae'zel to the world of like, fancy soap and perfumes (on a budget) and that’s where I think Caradoc gets hooked on the Faerun equivalent of Madagascarian vanilla and ginger and that's what he keeps smelling like.
After he and Gale get married he sometimes smells of something completely different just because his husband picked it up for him, or because he used Gale's soap or perfume.
3. how would they kiss their LI?
Can't think of anything specific right now except that Caradoc often kisses Gale's cheek or forehead without thinking and he did it at least once in front of Gale's students. That class then immediately stopped falling for Gale's “I might explode at any point” act because there is no way professor Dekarios is gonna make his husband sad just to teach us a lesson.
9. if they had to be put in a “get along shirt” with a companion, who would it be?
Halsin, although it's less of a "get along shirt” situation and more of a "getting locked in a closet until they talk about their feelings” situation.
Caradoc and Halsin had a good relationship (despite Halsin's very lassez-fair attitude to the racism in the grove) until halfway through Act 3 when Halsin confessed to him. Caradoc absolutely did not mind, he let him down very gently and even apologised for accidentally leading him on, it has been known to happen before.
Then he went to tell Gale how awkward that was and found out Halsin propositioned him without consulting Gale. Halsin hadn't checked if either of them was poly, he hadn't told Gale anything and then he had confessed to Caradoc without even acknowledging his relationship with him. It's like Gale didn't matter.
Which is like, absolutely the worst possible way Halsin could have gone about it considering how much of Act 3 until that point had been Caradoc worrying about how much Gale thinks he doesn't matter. First he almost killed himself for Mystra’s forgiveness, then he attempted to claim godhood thinking it was something he needed to be worthy of Caradoc’s love, then he thanked Caradoc for not thinking less of him for having complicated feelings about things. And after all of this Caradoc had to bite down his tongue in front of Elminster and send Gale to beg for Mystra's forgiveness in exchange of his freedom. That is a lot of anger Caradoc has to repress because it's not gonna help anyone, even by Caradoc's standards - which is why eventually he snaps and they end up with a statue of Gale in camp.
And now Halsin, who is supposed to also be Gale's companion, maybe even his friend, is hitting on Gale’s boyfriend behind his back. And Caradoc isn’t new to the concept of polyamory because he has three parents in a throuple and he knows how they got together so he is aware of the importance of getting everyone on the same page for this kind of stuff.
They probably could have talked about it and cleared out the air out of peer pressure if nothing else, but Orin kidnaps Halsin the day after so all of this gets put aside because like, Halsin just got kidnapped by Bhaalist cultists. Let's have some priorities here. Caradoc decides to suck it up because to be fair he is very protective of Gale so… maybe he is overreacting a bit. Maybe Halsin just sucks at confessions.
But this banter exists and somehow happened to me:
Gale: Halsin. You must have accumulated considerable wisdom on the matters of the heart, in your long life. Anything you would like to pass on to a young, strapping, love-struck wizard such as myself? Halsin: [laughs] Dispensing advice on the matter of the heart would be like swapping boots. What suits me might be a poor fit for you. Gale: Ah…Well, there is no fault in that logic. At least you didn’t tell me to “be myself” Halsin: Oh no, perish the thought. That could be outright cruel advice to offer in certain cases [19:17 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF0hkB1A1NU&t=1369s]
And that’s how Caradoc was done. One of Halsin’s flaws is that he very easily dismisses things that get in the way of his wants, so while Halsin was probably just joking because the game loves making fun of Gale, to Caradoc this was “Since Halsin was/is interested in Caradoc, then he dismissed Gale as unimportant and unlovable as a person” and he was done. He is not even interested in talking about it. The wiki wasn’t fucking around when it said tieflings tend to be loyal as hell.
So we end up with Halsin being very confused about Caradoc’s new polite but cold and distant attitude while Caradoc doesn’t care enough at this point to savage their relationship and the only way for him to say anything would be to lock him in a closet with Halsin so he eventually snaps.
That… still wouldn’t fix it, because Caradoc is angry on Gale’s behalf. Gale is the one who is owed an apology and explanation and he shouldn’t get one only because Halsin wants to make up with Caradoc. But also Halsin isn’t psychic (he doesn’t even have a tadpole!), so how is he supposed to know? Gale is also acting like everything is fine, so he has zero clues on where he even went wrong.
19. do you have a playlist for your tav? if so, what’s the title + description? I'm working on them but it's very hard, especially for Caradoc! I can send the Spotify/YouTube link to anyone interested. Putting a couple of songs here, however the vibes are all over the place: Stromae - Santé [OFFICIAL VIDEO - ENG SUBS] Celtic Woman - Téir abhaile 'riú [IRISH LYRICS WITH ENG SUBS] Caparezza - Non me lo posso permettere (a translation of the lyrics here) FAUN - Walpurgisnacht [GERMAN LYRICS WITH ENGLISH TRANSLATION] KEiiNO - Spirit In The Sky Juanes - A Dios Le Pido [SPANISH LYRICS WITH ENGLISH TRANSLATION] Angelo Branduardi - L'Apprendista Stregone (a translation of the lyrics here YES IT'S CALLED THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE)
Also I can't tell if it's my music taste or it's just hard to find any song fitting the vibe of Gale's romance (as I played it) (I FOUND THREE FOR ASTARION AND ONE FOR WYLL/DURGE AND MAYBE ONE EVEN FOR KARLACH THO, GO FIGURE) so I accept more suggestions otherwise I might end up playing All I Ask of You from The Phantom of the Opera on repeat.

I always imagined Caradoc as feeling extremely guilty in the ending for picking himself (and Gale) over Orpheus and the liberation of the Gythianki people (nevermind how he really did not want to follow Karlach to Avernus, thank the gods for Wyll), but now that I made him a low-key follower of Ilmater it's kind of turning into a small religious crisis.
Like he isn't the biggest believer but he has always tried to do The Right Thing and that probably was not The Right Thing and he did it entirely for selfish motivations and yeah he is feeling guilty but he is not feeling even a little bit sorry. He would 100% do it again.
But also he figures it's gonna be hard to sell to Ilmater when he kicks the bucket.
Or is it?
Does he have enough faith in Ilmater about this? (Considering the Illmater novices we see in the game I think Caradoc has zero to worry about. "Your honour, I did the best I could but I crossed the line at turning into a squid because I really love my husband, friends and family and I wanted to be with them" still beats "One refugee killed Father Logan so now they should all die in the streets")
#antiqua plays bg3#the irony that gale would have 100% not cared if he turned into a squid but caradoc would have cared enough to kill himself on the docks#bg3: caradoc#bg3 caradoc#this is a bit of a moot point as he is probably gonna convert to whatever gale wants to convert to so they can be together in the afterlife#right now it could be kelemvor but who knows#i wanna believe in peepaw withers calling dibs in the afterlife#if nothing else because I think that it would be more fun for them to have some actual work rather than#...than just chilling? I have no clue what people do in the d&d afterlife I am picturing a Good Place situation without the arc#I also have no clue what people do in most IRL religious afterlives aside from just chilling#also the wiki is telling me that ilmater is actually pretty forgiving so I guess caradoc gets forgiven considering EVERYTHING ELSE HE DID

I love the Weave scene but the Bed scene is very intriguing to me personally because with the Tiefling excellent design in this game (just the right balance of Just A Person and demonic features) it does look a bit like Gale is gonna have a dalliance with the demon who will turn him away from God.
(I do think there is something to this interpretation because the framing and your character tending their hand to invite Gale in feels very intentional).
#the goddess is mystra so in this case it's fine#also once again mephistopheles tiefling. wizard. the VIBES.#this would work even better with an asmodeus tiefling visually#and it would work even better IF HE TOOK HIS SHOES OFF#also I love the tiefling hands visually#antiqua plays bg3#bg3: caradoc#bg3 caradoc#I am gonna end up replaying as him again I can tell#also for real TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF

Do you have any tavs and if so tell me about them!
Hi! Thank you so much for your ask and sorry if it took me a bit, I had to grab screenshots and make sure I did not write way too much.
Without further ado, these are the main three featured on my blog as they are the ones I got at least to Act 2 with:
Caradoc Howell
My main and favourite Just Some Guy. He’s a Wild Sorcerer Mephistopheles Tiefling who works in a grocery shop near the Upper City where he does a bit of everything but mostly errands and “special orders”, aka anything rare or difficult to find in the Lower City that is not really illegal - think less “rare poison” and more “my master wants pheasant for dinner what the fuck am I supposed to do now”.
Basically, what if your Tav was Just Some Guy working at Aldi.
As you can imagine everything after being tadpoled was absolutely wild to him but he got through it by the power of Having Worked In Customer Service his Charlatan background. He even got a delightful husband out of it! Whose ex is the Goddess of Magic. It’s fine. They are both Just Some Guys (Who Saved The World) now.
And who regularly go on adventures for anything Gale really needs for his research with their friends. And Arabella, who might or might not be a Chosen of Silvanus, keeps crashing at the tower. And Lae’zel definitely got them to the Astral Plane for a visit. And Gale is doing an impressive job of teaching Caradoc how to use his magic and now he is way better than he was when they fought the Netherbrain.
But still! Just Some Guys!
Elendris Galaadon
A Sun Elf who discovered his love for blacksmithing when he was fifteen and never turned back. He disappointed everyone in his House by moving to Baldur’s Gate to learn from dwarves and gnomes and also getting married at barely one hundred year old to another one hundred year old elf. Look, it was True Love!
They got divorced by the time they were one hundred and fifty and he came out of that thinking that he was fundamentally broken and truly incapable of loving anything except his craft and his workshop - and his people who work there. Everything else can go fuck itself. He spent twenty years barely getting out of his workshop until he got tadpoled.
He is now learning that caring about others is Good, Actually, if nothing else because if he doesn’t it might have repercussions about people and things he does actually care about. His morality is still a work in progress as we reach Act 3 and his decision to not ascend Astarion is still mostly motivated by the fact that he really likes children (including children that are vampire spawn) and he really loves Astarion and doesn’t think that would have made him actually happy. Oh and killing seven thousand people is bad, they say.
Cedric (no surname because he forgot)
Cedric’s parents died when he was around six, he run away from the orphanage when he was seven and got extremely lucky to be noticed by a Dragonborn Druid who immediately took him in when he saw him talking with the local cats. They were supposed to move together to a groove outside Baldur's Gate once his teacher's work in the city was done, but he got murdered when Cedric was sixteen.
Since his only skills were healing, talking to animals and turning into a huge wolf, he fell into criminal work. The fact that he is now one of the kind of people who probably murdered his parents and definitely killed his teacher does not escape him and he is now a pretty closed off and apathetic twenty five year old.
Being tadpoled has been a blast and not only because he gets to turn into a cat and jump on everyone’s lap (especially on Lae’zels).
And the rest
Those are the main six Tavs I developed playing around the character’s creator or with my other Tavs’ backstories. Very quickly:
Ves’i’ran is a Gythianki ranger that after a rite of passage gone Very Wrong got to spend all of five minutes in the Astral Plane before being sent back to Faerun to scout for mindflayers activities and ships. He wants to be loyal but he also has very much been going native. Also the only woman he ever loved was probably murdered when she tried to flee to the githerai.
Illiambaste is an ex-Eilistraee acolyte turned Assassin Folk Hero after she found out the full story behind her father’s escape from Menzoberranzan. He risked everything to bring her with him when he escaped and she wants to live up to his example.
Kava and Felix are Caradoc’s best friends back in Baldur’s Gate and now it’s their turn to get tadpoled! Kava is a Bard who takes her profession and her duty as storyteller and collector of tales Very Seriously and who takes pride in her found family of various contacts and networks all over the Storm Coast (and beyond!) (she's definitely not doing any spy work on the side!). Felix is a Vengeance Paladin who grew up in the Underdark and decided that enough was enough when he and some of his people got kidnapped by the Duergars to be slaves. Once rescued he booked it to Baldur’s Gate where he became a baker because he has terrible insomnia so what does he care about working nights.
Havelock is a noble Half Drow Cleric of Selune born of an illicit affair between a patriar and the eldest daughter of a Matriarch who did not need more males so they immediately shipped him back to Baldur’s Gate thinking maybe they could get some future political leverage out of it. His father did look after him but there is no love lost between them and high society was not kind to him. His father’s wife however always loved him and she is the one supporting his political career. He had quite a temper when he was young and did punch one nobleman in the face when he was fourteen (now he would simply blackmail them into submission).
Finally, my Cleric of Kelemvor. She loves fighting. She is very fucking tall. I don’t know yet why it’s so important to her that everyone is granted the peace of eternal sleep.

Caradoc sort of likes Raphael as a person but hates him and wants nothing to do with him because DEVIL (it's complicated) so he just wants to stay away and pretend he doesn't exist which becomes extremely funny in Act 3 because:
1) Make the deal? Well Gale (love of your life) has already decided that we are keeping the Crown, so off we should go to the House of Hope to destroy your contract?
2) Don't make the deal? Well Lae'zel (your best friend) has already decided that we are getting that hammer no matter what, so off we should go to the House of Hope to steal it?
And all Caradoc wants to do is to NOT go to the House of Hope to piss off a devil but also NOT make a deal with a demon because *GESTICULATES TO HIS WHOLE BEING A TIEFLING DEAL* so what if we just tell Raphael that we will think about it while Gale goes off do some more research, maybe it's fine if Raphael has it? Maybe maybe?
EXCEPT NOW GALE (LOVE OF YOUR LIFE) NEEDS THE CROWN TO BE FREES BY MYSTRA AND LAE'ZEL (BESTIE) NEEDS THE HAMMER SO OFF WE GO TO THE STUPID HOUSE OF HOPE BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DISAPPOINT EITHER OF THEM

tagged by @invinciblerodent and thank you so much for the tag, it was super fun and a great break for today!
tagging @margridarnauds, as I think pairing songs with kissy-picrew (using this one) sounds right up your alley!
also all under the cut, because. well.
I still haven't found the perfect song for them as a couple but I have found the perfect song for when gale tried to blow himself up, and then to achieve goodhood and then TRIED TO BLOW HIMSELF UP THREE MORE TIMES, LOVE OF MY LIFE YOU GOTTA STOP DOING THAT
The perfect song for two men riddled by insecurity issues who just need to fully believe each others' Anywhere you go, let me go too / Love me, that's all I ask of you
(And the lines Let me lead you from your solitude and Say the word and I will follow you are a nice bonus. If Caradoc being Raoul and Gale being Christine means that the Phantom is Mystra, then so be it).
I have actually a whole folk song playlist for the two of them, especially because there are so many folk songs about someone called William, like SO MANY and some of them are SO appropriate but I have a soft spot for this one which is a version of the beauty and the beast (or the loathly lady) trope. tl;dr monstrous lady comes in his house and because King Henry is *that *noble and good he lets her eat all his favourite animals *and *sleeps with her, she becomes a beautiful maiden and in some versions also brings all the animals back to life
Also I like the ambiguity of the ending where imho it's not exactly clear how the curse broke BUT IT DID and now King Henry has the world most beautiful woman as a reward for being so good and noble.
Wyll gets a redeemed Bhaalspawn instead but that's probably how Mister Wylliam "I wanna get married and have children. Let's get engaged and then go to the Hells to slay demons together for the foreseeable future" Ravengard likes it.
Aaaand it's this one:
Now that Patch 6 lets them be together even if she wants to fly away on a dragon it's less tragic for me to figure out their ending but the way the male singer is hoping she'll live another day and he will be by her side (And if she doesn't have the will/But it seems the whole world does I'll stay because/ *I will be the man my father never was) while she tells the gods that if they touch him they WILL pay (But to a woman by the end you'll kneel and plead/'Cause I'm more than what my mum told me to be*)...
So the main problem with these two is that Elendris' doesn't really care about anything except the ones he loves and Astarion really should NOT be trusted with that influence on him until his character development kicks in *and they are both painfully self aware of it but *also don't really know how to stop it before it goes too far. And that's why they sent themselves to the Underdark so they can figure it out while helping people. And maybe develop some morals.
I assume some level of this will always exist in their relationship and for some reason this is the song to express it:
I like the self awareness of the couple in the song, the joy in love and being loved in this way and also we're like an odd pair of shoes / One slightly stylish and one slightly plain / One for the nightlife and one for the rain does sound like something Mister Astarion "UGH" Ancunín would say.
Last but not least, for my old veterans with trauma:
There is a version with English lyrics here, it's a love song about how the other person is the only one who truly understood them and I love that the chorus says "By looking for you in this world, I got to know it and I gave it to you". It truly fits Ves'i'ran background of having being promoted/kicked out of gythianki society due to how obviously "sentimental" he is and having spent decades as a ranger in Faerun, learning to love it while being unable to just stop being loyal to an absent queen because otherwise what's the point of everything.
Halsin instead gets "In recent years I have lost more than one friend / I lost myself plus a few lighters / Life gives and then it takes/ That's why I'm afraid to be near you"
There was probably something more thematically appropriate but I like italian rap. Sue me.

Gale was so genuinely happy to see Arabella again, which is great for my not so secret plans of trying to adopt her once this mess is over.
#i know you don't see yourself as father material gale but how about being a mentor father figure#honestly my tav would end up adopting tiefling refugee children if given the opportunity#the whole reason we are murdering orin today is that the cult of bhaal left a tiefling child brutally orphan and NO#antiqua plays bg3#bg3: caradoc
