I tried my hand at some abstract stuff then remembered I haven't drawn any Beywheelz characters since it aired and gave up. I’m also really busy today.

I'm calling it right now, Pax (Pri's brother) is gonna be the final villain of the series. His backstory is almost exactly the same as Ryan Gladstone from Beywheelz: a genius blader (or wheeler) who retired due to an accident and now coaches other bladers while researching the supernatural power of beys.

Mystel

How I feel about them: He's alright. There's nothing about him I dislike, but the things I like are all very superficial (cool design and bey). He feels like a filler character added in just because BEGA needed an extra blader

Something I find interesting: his 4-eyed mask design. Someone had to make the deliberate decision to give it extra eyes and I love purposeful impracticality in character designs

Something I think could've been done better: He's just there and doesn't really have a dynamic with the rest of his team nor with his opponents. Giving him a meaningful rivalry with Ray or friendship with Garland would've gone a long way

Headcanon: He likes to hang out on rooftops. No one knows or questions how he gets to them

Thoughts on his bit-beast: I like it. Personally I think later beys would pull off the Poseidon/Neptune theme better but Mystel's was pretty solid

Miscellaneous thoughts: I don't really have any. He's almost a recurring extra with how little we get to see of him. At least his battle with Max was fun

Reiji

How I feel about them: Short-lived secondary antagonists can be hard to pull off, but Reiji does it really well. He had 4 battles in total but every single one of them is memorable. If he was around for longer, I'm sure he'd be universally considered one of mfb's greatest villains

Something I find interesting: Reiji apparently feels physical pain when his opponent resists his fear tactics. This raises some really interesting questions that, like a lot of things in Beyblade, can only be explained via headcanon

Something I think could've been done better: His breakdown was really cathartic but it also didn't answer any of the questions I had. I wish we could've seen his breakdown more in-depth to better understand what's going on in his mind

Headcanon: Since he has a dark move, Reiji has some of the dark power (albeit less than Ryuga and Tsubasa), which causes him pain when he has to use more of it

Thoughts on his bit-beast: A snake that is revealed to be a single strand of Medusa's hair. I love it. Hell, the first time he uses his dark move and we see that his bey has multiple snakes was a massive "oh shit" moment

Miscellaneous thoughts: His VA was clearly having a lot of fun recording but I can only imagine the sore throat that resulted from it. Poison Serpent being one of the worst beys irl is kinda funny considering he's easily one of the top bladers in Fusion

Jake

How I feel about them: I'm not a huge fan of Beywheelz but I love Jake. I wish more villains were like him in that he's simultaneously comedic and threatening

Something I find interesting: The shots that imply he sends his bey at the opponent's eyes, combined with the fact that one of his eyes is always covered, seems to imply something that wasn't explicitly shown, but was purposely implied

Something I think could've been done better: He was underused. Beywheelz in general suffered from cramming too much story in too little time. If Beywheelz was longer we could've gotten more of Jake

Headcanon: About the eye thing, my headcanon is that it was injured in some form (probably from a bey). I'm undecided if he wears an eyepatch or if it's "merely" a Shu-style scar

Thoughts on his bit-beast: A less cool version of Reiji's Serpent. Still not bad, just overshadowed

Miscellaneous thoughts: His personality is the opposite of Reiji's while still being very similar. I prefer Reiji as a serious villain, but Jake is so fun to watch

Ben

How I feel about them: He doesn't do much in the story besides being a tournament opponent, but damn is he good at it. In season 1, I found that I looked forward to Ben's battles more than anyone else's (including Lui) just for the energy he brings

Something I find interesting: He seems like a feral child but his hair says otherwise. There's a level of metafiction that goes on, where nothing about Ben's character indicates he wouldn't take care of his hair other than audience assumptions, and I love it

Something I think could've been done better: Like many characters, he was underused. He fought Lui, clearly that affected him, but we never delve into the details

Headcanon: He and Ranzo buy sorts from the same brand. Just look at them

Thoughts on his bit-beast: It's cool, but most pre-Turbo avatars are overshadowed by the later ones. It's one of my favorite s1 avatars, but not really remarkable in the grand scheme of Burst

Miscellaneous thoughts: Before Blindt, Ben's Beast Hold was probably the weirdest looking special move in Burst. I wish Ben vs Lui was shown in full in the flashback

MFB OC Week Rules and FAQ

This post will describe what exactly MFB OC Week is, as well as establish a few rules so that everyone can enjoy this event better :)

What is MFB OC Week?

MFB OC Week is a online event that takes place on a currently undecided week sometime in 2024, dedicated to celebrating all the wonderful Metal Fight Beyblade OCs out there. All forms of media are accepted for this event as long as Tumblr supports it, so art, stories, edits, memes, music, and videos are all allowed. 

Participating in this event is very simple. All you need to do is make content of your MFB OC, and tag it with either/both #mfbocweek and #mfbocweek2024 . You may also tag the MFB OC Week account in case we miss the post. While this event will mainly take place on Tumblr, any creator who would like to share their creations to other social media platforms is welcome to.

Although both moderators (@masterofdemise and @lady-lazagna) are mainly into Metal Fight Beyblade, fans of all the other Beyblade generations are welcome to participate as well. Whether you are a Bakuten Shoot, Burst, X, or Beywheelz/Beyraiderz fan, you are allowed to take part and we will still reblog your work!

Let’s get into some rules.

Do I have to follow the provided prompts?

Technically no. They are there to give general ideas and inspirations, but they are not set rules that you have to follow. The main idea is to celebrate Metal Fight Beyblade OCs, so if you have an idea that you want to pursue that doesn’t go along with the prompt of that day, you can still tag your work under MFB OC Week.

I might be busy and not have enough time to participate during the two weeks, can I still participate outside of the official time period?

Absolutely! We know this event is taking place in the summer so while many will be free to do the prompts, there will also be many who will be too busy. While the official event takes place from the specific week of the year, you are welcome to treat the prompt list like any other art challenge list. We will continue to reblog Beyblade OC Week creations up until the last day of year, so feel free to participate later in the year if that fits your schedule better.

Can I still make content of the canon characters?

Canon characters are allowed as long as there is the presence of at least one original character present. After all, this is an event to appreciate the original characters of all the different Bey generations.

Are crossovers with non-Bey media allowed?

Of course, much like the canon characters,  just as long as your Bey OC is featured.

Can I draw other people’s OCs?

You are 100% allowed to, especially since there is overlap with this event and Artfight. The only rule is that if you do draw another person’s character, you must abide by whatever character permissions/rules the creator established for their OC. Any OC content that is made to harass/slander/bully the creator will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban/block. This event is supposed to be fun, so any form of harassment against another person or their creations is not permitted.

Is NSFW, sexual or gore content allowed for this event?

Beyblade is toy kids media, meaning there are most likely plenty of minors within the fandom. To keep this event safe for work and a safe space for more people to participate, we will not be allowing NSFW or any overly suggestive/sexual works. Mild gore is permitted, but it must be hidden with either the read more feature or the community label. While neither of us can really stop people from making NSFW content for their OCs, we would suggest either not posting it, or hiding it with the earlier mentioned Tumblr functions as to respect other peoples boundaries since not everyone will want to see this sort of content in the tags. Let’s be mindful of all the different members of the fandom. 

Failure to properly hide/tag NSFW or gore content will result in the moderators not reblogging your works for the rest of the event if you refuse to comply with this rule and do not fix the post after being asked to by moderators. If this rule is broken several times, you will be banned and blocked by the account. The moderators have the right to block your account if you engage in inappropriate behavior outside of the event.

How come my post hasn’t been reblogged?

Although both moderators will be checking the tag, we will inevitably miss a few due to Tumblr not always showing posts. If we haven’t reblogged your post in around 24-48 hours, please feel free to DM or tag the blog so we can see your post easier. We would like to be able to help share your wonderful OCs with everyone. The only other reason we might not reblog a work is if it breaks any of the rules established (see above for rules on NSFW/Gore and any derogatory works of other people’s OCs).

What other rules should we keep in mind for this event?

Any form of stealing/reposting/re-editing of art/writing/music/use of AI without the permission of the original creator or claiming their work as your own is forbidden. If you are caught doing any of the following and refuse to delete the offending work, you will be banned from participating from this event.  Since Bey OC Week is an arts centric event open to many different art forms, we want to make sure everyone is being respectful of people’s original works since original characters can mean a lot to their owners. Just in general, this sort of behavior is not tolerated even in regular art communities so do not think about taking someone’s handwork and claiming it as your own.

As mentioned before, the moderators have the right to block your account if you engage in inappropriate behavior outside of the event.

It’s okay to post after the event is over, but since the prompt list is out early, can we post before the official start date?

Preferably not, just so the post doesn’t end up getting buried and so we can have more fun during the official event time. Feel free to start making your content as soon as the prompt list is out, but wait until the actual start date to begin posting.

Okay okay okay I know I’m coming out of nowhere with this buT KyoTsuHyo family??? KIds??? DesIgNs or HeadCanONs????? Would they have BABIESSS????? Thank you for encouraging my insanity

oooo honestly I dunno, I haven’t really thought about this much. Although recently, I have been having thoughts about making a kyoya fankid with an unspecified second gene provider just bc I really do love kyoya and his billion husbands and singular wife all raising this one child together bc I think it’s a fun dynamic. They say it takes a village to raise a kid, I think a massive polycule works just as well. The idea for this kid though would be that she would be basically exactly like Kyoya but a little girl, with her being a very ambitious blader and Kyoya serving as her primary mentor. That is probably why she is exactly like him lmao. She is a very stubborn kid and they butt heads about as much as you’d expect, but it’s all out of love. I love girldad Kyoya i think he would be very silly as a parent. He’s raising her to be a very tough kid, and I think as a father, he’s very caring in his own way, though he is a bit hard on her as a trainer, though he insists it is for her own good, and I do think he’d be careful not to push her too far. He’s the type to be hard on her because he can see her potential, and he knows she’ll eventually grow to surpass him as a blader one day. This is not without its faults, but I don’t think anyone expected Kyoya to be a perfect parent, and as with any parent, he’d grow and learn how to be better with time yk.

As for them and the kyohyotsu family dynamic, I do have some thoughts. I like the idea of koma village being a little more populated by the time these guys are adults, so I do think that Hyoma, now not being the sole guardian of koma (maybe he can even have his own kid or successor that he’s teaching specifically to eventually be the next official guardian) would have more time to travel outside of the village, so I could see a lot more domestic kyohyotsu interactions. I do still think he’d travel a lot anyways though. With that, plus kyoya and Tsubasa both being very busy people as the head of TC and the director of the WBBA respectively, I kinda imagine that they kinda take turns being the main character for the kid. Joint custody schedule except the parents are still married, just very all over the place lol. I can imagine her learning a lot about the wilderness and traveling from Hyoma, and he probably teaches her a whole lot about koma village and all their legends too. I also just did a google search and apparently bald eagles can live to be around 20-30 years old, so hypothetically Tsubasa may be able to introduce this kid to his now senior eagle. I think he’d probably teach her a lot about animals anyways. I think they’re all probably at their most domestic once the family’s all together and they take the time to just hang out and really appreciate each other’s presence. Hyoma I can see generally being the fun dad, Tsubasa being the most responsible, and Kyoya being the one that the other three (lovingly) gang up on frequently <3 I think also just like, even outside of just the Kyoya polycule, all of their friends absolutely would be the best people for this kid to grow up around and would step in to help out with her whenever needed. She is a mini-Kyoya with the biggest support system imaginable and it would definitely help her grow up to be a very functional person. And like, realistically with how beyblade usually tends to go anyways, being a blader, she’s probably gonna be out on her own adventuring a lot and will be pretty self sufficient, but her parents being many and spread out just means she’s got all the more places to come back to to call home.

finding and hearing the voice demo tapes from zyro's english va (brian west) was an experience and a half for the fact that one, i didn't think i'd ever be able to find it and two, the only reason i found them was because I wanted to confirm if he voices another character but in the beywheelz series (the blue haired dj dude, and yes he does)

SO THE NEW BURST TRAILER DROPPED WHILE I WAS WATCHING DEMON SLAYER

SO EXCUSE ME FOR MISSING IT. I WILL NOW GO OVER MY THOUGHTS BECAUSE I ALREADY FREAKED OUT OVER THE TRAILER ON DISCORD, ON MY INSTA STORY, IN AN INSTA GROUP CHAT, AND TO MY BROTHER IRL

First off, this new character, Quadra, looks really cool. I'm happy we're getting more female bladers! Her bey is Lightning Pandora, ans that put together with her name being in quotes in the season description is leading me to believe that Quadra is a fake name.

Second off, Quadra's brother Pax

We don’t see much of him, but he looks intereating. Especially the sci fi thing he has on his hand (I'll get back to that later). Ngl his look kinda reminds me of the blader dj from beywheelz, but I like beywheelz so I'm okay with that.

Third off, the ruins

This is very interesting. The description said that there is an elemental power radiating from them, which makes me very curious obviously. This gives me beyraiderz vibes and metal fury vibes. Also it's interesting to see that burst might be leaning more into the supernatural now.

Fourthly, the sci fi stuff

This seems a bit too high tech for what we've seen so far, so I'm assuming that Quadra and Pax are either from the future or from another dimension or something like that. That coupled with the mention elemental powers leads me to be even more interested in them. I did have a minor theory that they're related to Ilya, but I'll save that for if we get actual evidence.

Fifth, Bell

Seems like he's going for round two of being protag. Good for him. Only Valt had done that so far. Also he looked very serious at the end of the trailer, which seemee sorta strange to me. But it looks like Quadra might've ticked him off

Sixth, returning characters

It's great to see Valt and Ransou back! I also believe Shu, Lui and Free will return as usual. Wakiya might too. I also wouldn't be surprised if we see Basara or Rashad. Anyone else? Hard to say if anyone will return. The moon at the start of the intro makes me hopeful that Aiger may return, but I don't want to get my hopes up for anyone.
