Random fanart of "The Man From The Window" (and "Beware The Shadowcatcher") I did for mainly body type challenge. Shoutout to the dev for not knowing fear of public judgement, and to the games in themselves for being quite good.

They're just kinda vibing I guess

So say I want to make fanart of Zed_Technician's games and make the characters more... flattering in a human form. Do I do that, or do I dare try to draw a bunch of anthropomorphic animals?

I feel I should clarify on what I mean by flattering. Personally, I don't like drawing huge breasts like this but I'm not hating on the characters. I love them all and the games, don't get me wrong

Yk I really love Zed_Technician's games and how they manage to make characters that feel like they're real people, going through real things, especially when they tie themes of poverty and trying to get by with what you have and having these characters trying to support each other through hard times not only in their daily lives, but also in the dire situations they're put in

I also love how they make older people the protagonists of these games, especially plus sized older women, considering A.) older women are hardly ever given the respect they deserve, B.) plus sized people are hardly ever given any representation or respect, and C.) in this age and especially in this economy, it's common for people in poverty to be plus sized due to lack of access to produce and healthier foods due to increasing prices and having to work all the time.

That's why I honestly find it tiring seeing people act so strange whenever they see the character designs from these games, either with disgust and repulsion or acting like they're "dirty" or "sexual" just on the basis that they're plus sized. It's like these people have never seen a plus sized person in their life except for in porn or other things like that, or maybe they have and they just don't treat them with respect.

It sucks because there are so many plus sized people that look like that (obviously not exactly the same, bc, you know, cartoon proportions, but at least similar). It sucks cuz I have family members that are plus sized as well as loved ones, and it sucks just seeing people act the way they do whenever they see someone that isn't skinny, yk?

Sorry if it got ranty towards the end but- I really do like these games, I really do like these characters and the way they are written, and I hope we get to a point where people stop acting so odd about plus sized characters in games. This dev is doing a lot of interesting things and I really do look forward to seeing anything new they create!

Sorry for the spam. Zed_Technician’s character designs are literally so good, and the games are cute and fun, and I love that they’re all about Southern/Appalachian working class folks. It only just occurred to me that there might be fanart. There’s still entirely not enough of it.

“The man from the window” and “beware the shadow catcher” are great games- they’re nice short indie horrors with riddles and time management and hiding strategies and wholesome endings and no jump scares and it’s hilarious seeing the reaction of let’s players when they first see the character designs.

So me, being the perfectionist I am, I rewatched ManlyBadassHero's playthrough of The Man From the Window and Beware the Shadowcatcher and took notes to keep in mind when I get to humanizing the characters. I'll do the same again for The Vermander Curse tomorrow cuz I'm tired heh
