It's so weird to me that seemingly a lot of people have blocked me - recently, I was blocked while writing a reply to my earlier comment, I had it all typed out and couldn't send it anymore. That was a bit frustrating to be honest.
To my knowledge, I have never posted anything hateful or negative about any character on OFMD (for the reason that I genuinely love them all). Even my post-finale posts were more confused and hurt than angry.
My blog is very obviously Izzy centric and Izzy positive though (but still based on canon I hope), and that is apparently enough for a lot of people to block me? I mean ok, maybe it's for the better, but I'd never block anyone for liking a character I don't like, or interpreting them differently.
Blocking an account who incessantly and actively hates my fave? Absolutely. But I don't think I've ever hated a character so much that I'd want to block out any positive discussion about them. I just don't get it.
(It's probably about Ed, isn't it.)

On Testing and Qualifying Magnus Lightwood-Bane's Sugar Daddy Behaviors - An Analysis
Multiple arguments have been made against the current High Warlock of Brooklyn, superficially regarding whether this gentleman's reputation as the current Consul of the Clave's sugar daddy is underappreciated or exaggerated. This study aims to dissect the argument with the support of textual evidence throughout the couple's appearances in the series
Paying for their first date
Tumblr media
Taking care of the bill like a gentleman. From this instance, one can assume he takes his gentlemanly courting ritual very seriously, as he also reached for the meal cheques in other occassions
Conjuring and pelping to pick fine clothes for Alec
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On their famous Europe vacation, it is shown Magnus has a habit of magicking tuxedoes, suits, and well-made sweaters for Alec. Now, if he could upgrade that GAP scarf to a Burberry one, it would be much appreciated
Gentleman behavior
Tumblr media
Even though his boyfriend is supernaturally strong with biceps to bite for days and hunts bloodthirsty demons for a living, Magnus would still rather pay someone to carry the heavy luggage than his darling
Luxurious accommodation only
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There has been a previously published study on the expenses for all these places here, so this article will be repeating the same key points:
one night at Istanbul Grand Suite on the Orient Express: $26,000
suite in Belmond Hotel Cipriani: $1,056
suite in Palazzo Manfredi, Rome: $729
It is understandably relatable when one pulls Alec Lightwood and wants to do everything in their power to woo him. For Magnus, it apparently includes never letting Alec stay in any place less than five stars
Letting Alec drive the Maserati
Tumblr media
It costs around $10,860 to rent a red Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spider for one day. Therefore, it speaks volumes to Magnus's affection for his boyfriend that Alec almost crashes them and the expensive car off a cliff is just a "tiny accident". It is also very likely he buys this type of car later, seeing his husband's fascination with them
Living together in Brooklyn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Months into the relationship Alec has already possessed a literal key to Magnus's home and proceeds to move in after weeks of getting back together. For other poor souls who are looking for a 3-bedroom brownstone in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the rent would be estimated at around $5000 per month. For the Consul, it certainly would involve a different type of payment method
Alec's magically money-full pocket
Tumblr media
The consul carrying energy bars in his duffle bag instead of using the 15000$ in his pocket guarantees the funniest mental images one could possibly imagine
Enchanting Izzy's whip for Alec's birthday
Tumblr media
Knowing Alec's top wish is to keep his family safe, Magnus chooses to tip his boyfriend's sister's whip in a prized potion to help her on the battlefield. Loving someone to the point you want to protect what else they love
Assisting shadowhunter without payment
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This element may prove to be the strongest supporter of Magnus's claim as THE sugar daddy of the shadowhunter chronicles universe title, seeing how he used to overcharge shadowhunter on their business (deservingly so), and now he is willing to do all kinds of crazy shenanigans without an ounce of money. Whoever's in charge of the Clave's budget better send Alec the biggest, freshest, most expensive fruit basket
Final note
Tumblr media
In conclusion, this research paper does not provide a definitive answer to the argument but encourages readers to draw their own perspectives. Nevertheless, it is a great possibility that in his report, the consul stated he used 10-20 dollars each week while he was traveling across the world, going to Japan when he craved sushi and staying in the finest places, all thanks to his generous husband

TW: no smut :3 some autumn vibes. Also, saw this on tik tok so I inspired myself from it.
"I've met someone" he said.
Four words
One breath
He gazed at you
Waited
But only the silence enveloped both of you, thick and heavy like the air before a storm.
"She's nice... and..." His voice faltered, eyes dropping to his feet, the tip of his shoe tracing the grass beneath him. "...beautiful... even." The words stumbled out, like they were unfamiliar, foreign on his tongue.
A snake wrapped tighter around his neck, squeezing, pulling the breath from him until his chest ached, yet when he glanced down, it wasn’t the serpent that stole his air. No. It was the wind, soft and teasing, stirring the edges of his scarf, flickering like dying embers. His gaze lifted slowly, meeting yours once more.
"I... I came to say goodbye..." His voice cracked, and tears welled, threatening to fall. But despite the fragile sorrow, a smile curved at your lips.
You reached out, your fingers brushing a tear away, so gently it felt like you were touching something sacred. At first, he nuzzled into your palm, vulnerable and shattered, the pieces of him so exposed it nearly shattered you.
‘It’s okay,’ you whispered, your words dancing on the wind like a prayer.
His eyes softened for a moment, as if he had heard you through the haze of his own heartache. His hand wiped the remaining tears, but he refused to face them again, as though looking back would shatter him entirely.
He couldn't look back.
But oh, how his heart still beat at the mention of your name, how it fluttered when your voice echoed in his mind. How his smile—though faint—spread at the thought of you, and his eyes still searched for you in every shadow, in every corner
"It—it's gonna be better for both of us... at least for a while..." He choked on his own words, hardly believing they escaped him.
A shaky breath left him as he placed your favorite flowers on the stone that stood between him and your eternal rest. His lips pressed to the cool stone, a kiss full of promises he could never keep.
"I’ll see you around, love."
And with that, each step he took carried him further from you, from everything that had been.
And you?
You simply watched him go, holding onto the pain like it was a tether, knowing that sometimes, the most loving thing you can do is let go.

It feels almost impossible not to give him everything he wants when he gives you those eyes.
“What was it, baby?” You coo, your palm slowly sliding up and down his red cock. “Need to–” his voice breaks in the middle as you give him a tight squeeze, causing a whine out of him. “Love,” he moans out, his head thrown back. You smirk at his reactions, stopping your movements, again.
Beomgyu isn’t sure how long it has been. All he could remember was the innocent look on your face when you came to him after dinner, batting your eyes at him before he gave you approval, not really thinking much about what you had in mind. And when you pulled down his pants, he thought it couldn’t get better. Getting a blow job from his beautiful girlfriend? Perfect. But his expectations turned in vain as you started teasing him, doing everything but what he needed.
It was a simple hand job at first, which already got him whining enough, but then you stopped, and Beomgyu already knew you were up to no good.
“Please.” You chuckle as you hear him beg, leaning closer to him to place your lips on his. “Hm?” You hum, tracing your hand down his chest until you reach his cock again. “Say it out loud and I might listen.” He lets out another whine as you palm his hard-on, squeezing the bed sheets under him. “You’re terrible,” he hisses, and you notice how he bites his bottom lip to prevent any other sounds from escaping. “Oh, really?” You smile.
“So– fuck– terrible,” he repeats, bucking his hips up. “Yeah, I’m the worst,” you nod, quietly laughing at him as his cock trembles in your hands. “I can’t anymo–” he swallows the rest of his sentence as you take his tip in your mouth, his mind getting cloudy as he loses control and cums in your mouth.
“We are not done yet,” you shake your head, wiping the corner of your lips as you watch him fall on the bed, as if taking care of his girlfriend too didn’t matter to him at all. Beomgyu narrows his eyes, trying to read through you as you come closer to him, your pants falling on the floor. “We’re not?” He asks, taking your whole body in with his eyes as you sit on top of him, feeling his cock poking against your ass. “No,” you shake your head, your fingers sliding down to your clit.
“God,” he breathes out, his fingers replacing yours. It doesn’t last too long, though, before he moves his fingers to your hole, watching as your mouth opens and you gasp when he pushes them inside.
You move up, aligning his cock with your cunt before you slowly sit down, causing a moan to leave both of your mouths. It doesn’t take much longer for you to fill the room with your moans and Beomgyu’s groans as he lets you ride him, his hands tightly gripping on your ass. There’s sweat running down your forehead, but you don’t care. You keep your eyes on his, continuing in your movements as you lean down to kiss him. “Am I still such a terrible person?” You hum against his lips, smiling into the kiss. He doesn’t answer you, but the whine that leaves his lips as he tries to push you down on his cock says everything you need to know.

Hiii I hope this isn't too forward, but your tags re: Ed's evolving reactions to abuse and Izzy as abuse-survivor-wish-fulfillment are incredible and it would lovely as its own post, if you felt comfortable doing so!
Aww thank you! The post in question
Also, tbf, I'm just obsessed with the rule of 3, whenever there's the slightest chance of seeing a pattern like this I'll pound on it with a sledgehammer until it fits.
Anyway. Ed has 3 abusive white men in his life; his father, Hornigold, and Izzy. And all 3 he deals with, to escalating effect.
His father is the one who exerts the most power over him. Ed clearly comes from a violent household, and as a child, he is obviously completely at his fathers non-existent mercy. He beats Ed's mother, throws dishware against the wall, and there was a deleted scene where he yelled at Ed's mother for "turning my son soft" (oh how I wish they'd kept that in. I can understand why they thought this was expendable, but it would have made the connection between Ed's father and Izzy so much more obvious).
Ed cannot protect himself, or his mother, against this violence - up until the moment that he can. The moment he realizes he is no longer weak and helpless, he retaliates in the only way that he has ever seen conflicts be resolved. He knows that he can't intimidate his father into better behaviour, if he wants to end the abuse it has to be permanent. So he just fucking kills the bastard.
This is, of course, Not Ideal. Even 30odd years later, he feels monstrous and unlovable because of this moment. The violence scars him. Not because he was wrong in killing his father, necessarily; the show doesn't judge him for it. But Ed destroyed the life he could have had when he did it, and he wounded himself.
Violent solution? Possible, but he deserved better.
Next up, Hornigold, who is also a mean, abusive bastard. He represents the avoidance solution: Leave and never look back. We do not know what became of Hornigold after Ed left his ship, but 02x03 implies that Ed expects him to still be alive somewhere. Ed clearly suffered horrific abuse at his hands, both physical and emotional, and even though that is years in the past, he clearly never dealt with any of it. Gravybasket!Hornigold tells him "Sorry doesn't rebuild an abdominal wall. You gotta move on.": Don't expect an apology, don't try to make amends, just ignore what happened. Apologies are pointless, you can never expect your abuser to change his behaviour. So just try to get away from him and ignore him.
This also doesn't really work. In the gravy basket, Ed is clearly still desperate for Hornigold's approval - and is refused, as he probably was often when he sailed with him. "You're never good enough" is one of the core mantras of abusers. Hornigold is still living in Ed's head, and heart, and soul; the poison he fed him is still alive and well within him. Ed even tries a violent solution this time, but obviously that can't work.
Still, avoidance is better than violence. Hornigold is left behind, standing on that cliff, while Ed goes back into the light. Ed doesn't have to take him with him. He cannot make Hornigold regret what he did, but he can remove himself from his clutches.
And then there's Izzy. With Izzy, Ed obviously has the most ambivalent relationship. He seems to truly like Izzy, to some extend (why is that would be another post, but as briefly as possible: I think Izzy provides an interpersonal dynamic that is familiar, and therefore, a twisted kind of safe for Ed. Chronic mistreatment will embed in you the idea that there's something wrong with you, and that's something Izzy is all too willing to point out to Ed. Crucially though, Izzy is someone who's approval is actually attainable. Ed keeps around someone who will tear him down, yes, but who it is also possible to impress, and over who he has authority. He's going back to the previous relationships, only now he is in a position of power, and that may feel like he can fix them. Obviously this isn't exactly a healthy dynamic. Izzy, for his part, clearly gets a kick out of the power and status being Blackbeard's first mate gives him, and manipulating Ed into doing what he wants. Just watch how pissed he gets when his control over Ed starts to slip.).
And there's another, crucial difference: Izzy wants to come around. Izzy is the fantasy of the toxic person who realizes how shitty his behaviour is, and who deep down, cares enough to want to fix it. Who recognizes the pain he caused, and who tells Ed the things he most needs to hear: I hurt you, and I'm sorry. You didn't deserve this. I was wrong; you're fine.
And then - and this is also an important part of the wish fullfilment fantasy! - he dies. Ed doesn't have to deal with him anymore. We remove the possibility that he goes back on his apology, or tries to use that as a wedge to carve out a space for himself in Ed's life, or goes back to manipulating Ed. No. The apology has to be the final note this relationship ends on.
And this fixes it. Ed can look back on Izzy fondly.
He was a fucking nightmare. What a guy.

I wrote this for me and my beatie because THEMES and PARALLELS but hey yk tumblr also gets my deranged thoughts too
under cut besties @fruity-legos @murkystarlight
Summary:
Cooper accidentally catches Mrs Garcia on her way out
Additional Tags:
Author is running on 3am crack juice. gummie trio flows through my veins. turning Cooper over in my brain like a hot pocket. what if, fight me. the parallels. Mrs Garcia’s name is Maria in this. no beta we die like me. Aged-Down Character(s), Cooper and Garcia sibs are tinyyy
Did she regret it? That was the question, it was aquestion that she knew she’d never know or be able to answer with the right answer.  Did it pain her heart to be the one responsible for the small cries and screams that echoed from the apartment behind her as she closed the door harshly behind her and entered into the crisp wintery world outside?
Yes.
Did it also make her bite her lip to keep her face neutral as her husband stared at her with those big sad, doe eyes as he silently begged her not to?
Also yes.
But this was for the better.
For the better, it’s what she kept telling herself and maybe one day she’d believe that.
Maria let out a slow exhale that turned into a puff of white cloud as it hit frosty air as she tightened her scarf around her neck.
Just one foot in front of the other and she’d be on her way.
Maria placed a hand on the railing and began to walk down the stairs of her home, well what had been her home. It took a cautious second so as not to slip on the ice but before she new it she had planted both feet on the sidewalk.
She didn’t dare to risk a look back, no that wasn’t something she wanted to do, this was a new beginning for her and looking back would simply ruin that. Instead she tighten her grip on her briefcase and started to continue on down the sidewalk towards where her car was parked and packed with all her things.
“BLACK SUDAN!” A high pitched voice yelled.
Maria jumped and glanced around only to find a small, red clad child crouched down and staring intensely at the wheels of the car in front of her own. She blinked and stopped to peer closer at the child, oh she knew this one. It was Cooper, the weird little kid from across the street, but what was he doing outside looking at car wheels at seven in the morning?
Maria shook her head but before she could force herself to simply walk away from the boy, he jumped up, a twig clutched in his hand.
Cooper turned towards her happily and it seemed he was going to move onto the next car in the row, parked along the curb side, before he noticed Maria standing there and tilted his head up to look at her.
The boy’s big brown eyes blinked owlishly.
Maria blinked back, “Hello,”
“Ollo,” Cooper responded as a grin split his face, “Is Mateo already up!?”
Maria bit her lip, “Um, yes-“ yet before she could continue a thousand more questions and thoughts started steamrolling from Cooper.
“Waoh, but it’s so early! He likes sleeping in, he told me that on Thursday. Oh hey, you have a beefcase, is it really full of paper and not beef? Because that very misweading, they should call it a papercase instead,”
A small sigh slipped from Maria as Cooper kept going. She was sure he could keep talking and talking until he talked himself hoarse, just like her Izzie.
“Where are you going?”
Maria gave Cooper a blank stare as one of the things he said suddenly registered with her in her brain.
Slowly she responded, “I’m … I’m going away,”
“Ohhh,” Cooper said, sounding very thoughtful even though it had been the bare minimum of a word, “For how long?”
“For a long time,” Maria mused, she hadn’t thought about returning at all.
“Awww,” Cooper whined, looking down as he started to poke the snow on the ground with his stick, “Mateo’s gonna be sad, he loves you a lot. And Izzie,”
Cooper then took a few steps closer and muttered, “She’s making something special for you for Christmas!”
Cooper started to smile again and he vibrated a little like he was thinking about how cool whatever Izzie was making was.
Maria bit the inside of her mouth, shame.
“Is that so?” Maria breathed, she still couldn’t believe she was entertaining this conversation.
Cooper nodded vigorously, “I can’t tell you what it is though because it’s a surprise! But I guess if you’re leaving you won’t know it is for a long time, like ten years!”
Maria nodded, forcing a smile to stay on her face, and began to shuffle away a little bit, “Yes indeed I won’t.”
Cooper’s face scrunched up as he thought of something and he asked, “But why?”
Ugh, children and their why questions.
“Why what?”   “Why are you leaving?” Cooper asked. The question so small and simple yet it truly was quite heavy.  Maria could admit it took her a second to think of a response. She crouched down carefully so she could look Cooper in the eyes.
“Well you see,” Maria started with a shaky breath, “Sometimes people just don’t belong somewhere. Everything they do feels unimportant, and it’s as if what they currently have isn’t what they actually want. Sometimes a person just wants to escape that and find out where they truly do belong even if it does mean they have to leave everything they currently have to find whatever it is they’re looking for. And also sometimes life is just too much, so they leave, they runaway and try to figure things out again.”
Cooper blinked at her again and Maria was left to wonder if anything she had just said made sense to him, he still was quite young so she wouldn’t be surprised if nothing actually stuck.
Slowly, Cooper tilted his head to the side, “Oh, bu-but what about Mateo and Izzie? You … love them right?”
Maria hummed and she placed a gentle hand on Cooper’s shoulder, “I’ll tell you what, since I’m going to be going away I’m going to need you to do something for me ok?”
It took a second but Cooper nodded.
“I’m going to need you to take care of Iz and ‘Teo for me. They’ll need some extra comfort and someone to be there, so I’m going to need you to be that person.” Maria told him, grabbing the hand of his that held the twig and holding it up, “And you’ll need to protect them too, from all the scary storms and monsters under the bed. So do you think you can do that?”
Cooper’s eyes seemed to glaze over just a small bit before he fixed them on the twig and he nodded, “Yeah! I can do that! I’ll fight off all the big bullies for them!”
Maria forced a grin. She then pat the boy on the shoulder and stood, “Good, good, now quick! Get inside before your nose freezes off!”
Cooper giggled and tapped his twig on the ground before running off in the direction Maria had just come from.
With a sigh Maria pulled her scarf tighter around herself again and headed off to her car.
Damn kid.

Pairing: edizzy, edstede
Tags: Canon divergence, set at the end of ep 3, just before Edward wakes up, Izzy's POV, angst
Tumblr media
Stede disappeared below the deck some time ago now, God knows why. (Izzy knows why, he understands it all too well now, even though he would never admit it. He admitted to it once, to Ed, and he lost his leg in the process. No, he’s not going to risk anything like that ever again.)
But curiosity gets the better of him and, keeping the safe distance, he trails after Stede below deck. The view makes him stop in the doorframe and his heart in his chest.
There’s Stede, holding Ed’s hand whispering to him, begging him to hold on. He sees Edward, alive and shaking, as if he were trying to escape from the clutches of something dark and monstrous.
"I love you," Stede finally says like a plea.
I have love for you, Edward.
Izzy holds his breath, he feels cold all over his body. Like there is not enough air in the room, like his lungs are filled with water and he’s drowning. Like he’s taking Ed’s place in the world of the dead.
Something about the way this hurts reminds him of that dark room, the bed he was bleeding into and a gun being pushed into his hand. Everything that Stede doesn’t know about. But even if he did know, would he care at all?
There is no more time for musings because Ed finally wins the struggle for his life. His eyes open wide and he groans, rubbing his face with his free hand, the other holding firmy onto Stede.
"What's with everyone confessing their love suddenly?" - are Ed’s first words.
Stede looks stunned. He raises his gaze and only then seems to notice Izzy here, standing motionless by the door frame. A ghost from the past.
He’s revealed too much already simply by being here so he turns around, limping back on his hurting leg, to where no one will be bothered by his presence. Edward is not his problem anymore.

I was tagged by @edsbacktattoo and @chaotic-neutral-knitter to share my favorite fics that I’ve written!
One of my favorite genderbends is Pretty and Witty and Gay, my second Sweet Damsels fic, which covers the clothes swap in 1x04. It still makes me so happy. It's so gratuitous and literally all of the action relates to clothes, and that all comes together to set up sooooo many thoughts and realizations on Ed's part ... Even rereading it now after a couple of years, I'm just like, "Nice one."
I've written a number of canon divergence AUs where Ed and Stede meet differently, but I really love What Else Could I Do (Again), where Stede does cancel the Revenge after Mary tells him to. They meet as a surprise when Ed's taking a ship and still immediately hit it off. I eventually went back to the same concept with it's a good day for curin' your ills, a genderbent version of the idea that is even longer and tbh even better.
And of course, Yes, Captain. Frankly, I love all of my E-rated gentlebend, but this deep dive into how much Ed likes being dominated and treated as Stede's special prize takes the cake. (And it's basically canon. It makes me sooooo smug.)
I didn't intend this to be dominated by my f/f AUs but in retrospect, I guess it's not a surprise. Anyway, I'd also add It Never Was Anywhere You to my list of favorites. This is the one where Stede seduces Izzy to keep her crew safe until Ed gets back, and it's iddy as fuck. I love darkfic and creepy situations, and also people falling for the characters I relate to, and I really delivered for myself here.
AUgust/AUpril/JanuAUry are some of the best months of the year, and a few of my favorites come from those events. I especially love Fantabulosa, the fic where Ed's an Edwardian female impersonator, and Only Chance, the Ladyhawke AU.
I've mostly talked about OFMD fic because a) the vast majority of my fics are for that fandom and b) my more recent fic is better than my older fic by a lot, and my recent fic is even more heavily biased toward OFMD. But I think about my Good Omens sideswap/genderbend fic, Important Things, on a pretty regular basis just because it's so fun, it's playing with concepts and images I like (like angel!Crowley inventing pay-it-forward chains and demon!Aziraphale climbing awkwardly out of a priest's window in her shift). From a craft perspective, though, my favorite of my GO fics is The Crow Road, a post-finale fic from Muriel's perspective and frankly I think it's really good.
It's taken me so long to get to this meme that I'm not really sure who's done it at this point D: so I'm just going to leave this open to anyone who wants to do it and hasn't yet!

How They React When You Flirt With Them (Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Preference)
Tumblr media
Adrienne Maloof: Adrienne plays it cool. She probably won’t flirt back immediately, wanting to get to know you a bit better before anything else, but she’ll definitely be flattered.
Camille Grammer: Camille basks in the compliments and flirts right back without missing a beat. She knows how to make you feel like you’re the only person in the room. Expect lingering eye contact and a few coy smiles.
Dorit Kemsley: Dorit loves the attention and immediately turns up the charm. She’s playful and engaging, likely tossing her hair or adjusting her outfit to keep your focus. She might tease you a little, enjoying the back and forth banter.
Eileen Davidson: Eileen is flattered but a little surprised at first. Though she enjoys the flirtation, she keeps it subtle and refined, and doesn’t let it get too far, just enough to keep your interest.
Erika Jayne: Erika is eating it up. She’ll flirt right back, maybe even hitting you with a bold compliment or playful line that leaves you blushing. Keep it up and she may be taking you home with her.
Kim Richards: Kim is initially flustered and a little shy about being flirted with, especially if you’re bold about it. Once she warms up, she giggles and starts to reciprocate in a sweet, slightly awkward way.
Kyle Richards: Kyle reacts with a quick with a witty retort and might jokingly push you away, only to pull you back in with her infectious laughter. She enjoys the attention but keeps it fun and lighthearted.
Lisa Rinna: Rinna does not hold back. She’s bold and direct, likely matching your energy or even turning it up a notch. Her signature pout might make an appearance as she flirts shamelessly, fully embracing the fun of the moment.
Lisa Vanderpump: Lisa loves to flirt, so she’ll definitely be indulging you. She’d lean into the flirtation with a twinkle in her eye, leaving you wondering whether she’s serious or just playing the game.
Sutton Stracke: Sutton is initially flustered and might nervously laugh or brush off your flirtation at first. Once she’s comfortable and knows you’re serious about flirting with her, she responds with her usual Southern charm. She’s still 100% flustered, but it’s so adorable you never want to stop.

New YA Releases This Week!
Three exciting new YA books are hitting shelves this week! What's on your TBR?
Suddenly a Murder by Lauren Muñoz
Seven friends throw a 1920s-themed party, where it’s all pretend–until one of them is murdered. One of Us Is Lying meets Knives Out in this killer locked-room mystery.
Someone brought a knife to the party.
To celebrate the end of high school, Izzy Morales joins her ride-or-die Kassidy and five friends on a 1920s-themed getaway at the glamorous Ashwood Manor. There, Izzy and her friends party in vintage dresses and expensive diamonds–until Kassidy’s boyfriend turns up dead.
Murdered, investigators declare when they arrive at the scene, and now every party guest is a suspect. There’s the girlfriend, in love. The other girl, in despair. The old friend, forlorn. The new friend, distressed. The brooding enigma. And then, there’s Izzy–the girl who brought the knife.
To find the killer, everyone must undergo a grueling interrogation, all while locked in an estate where, suddenly, the greatest luxury is innocence.
There’s No Way I’d Die First by Lisa Springer
Debut author Lisa Springer delivers a spine-tingling, contemporary horror that follows a scary movie buff as she hosts an elaborate Halloween bash on her family’s estate but soon finds the festivities upended when she and her guests are forced to test their survival skills in a deadly party game.
Noelle Layne knows horror. Every trope, every warning sign, every survival tactic. She even leads a successful movie club dedicated to the genre. Thus, who better to throw the ultimate, most exclusive Halloween party on all of Long Island?
And with the guest list including the coolest kids in her senior class, her popularity is bound to spike. Hopefully, enough to warrant an expansion into podcasting. Plus, the fact that attractive, singer-songwriter Archer Mitchell is coming is honestly the candy corn on top. Nothing is going to kill her party vibes.
Except…maybe the low-budget It clown she hires to lead a classic round of tag. He’s supposed to be terrifying, though in a comforting, nostalgic way. Instead, the guy is giving major creeps. But maybe Noelle’s just that good at hosting?
Her confidence is immediately rocked when the night’s entertainment axes one of her guests. And he’s not done yet. If an evil, murderous clown thinks life is a game, then Noelle is ready to play. She’s been waiting a long time to prove that she’s a Final Girl.
Everyone’s Thinking It by Aleema Omotoni
Mean Girls meets Dear White People in this big-hearted, sharp-witted UK boarding school story about family, friendship, and belonging—with a propulsive mystery at its heart. Within the walls of Wodebury Hall, an elite boarding school in the English countryside, reputation is everything. But aspiring photographer Iyanu is more comfortable observing things safely from behind her camera. For Iyanu’s estranged cousin, Kitan, life seems perfect. She has money, beauty, and friends like queen bee Heather. But as a Nigerian girl in a school as white and insular as Wodebury, Kitan struggles with the personal sacrifices needed to keep her place—and the protection she gets—within the exclusive popular crowd. Then photos from Iyanu’s camera are stolen and splashed across the school the week before the Valentine’s Day Ball—each with a juicy secret written on it. With everyone’s dirty laundry suddenly out in the open, the school explodes in chaos, and the whispers accusing Iyanu of being the one behind it all start to feel like déjà vu. Each girl is desperate to unravel the mystery of who stole the photos and why. But exposing the truth will change them all forever.

Dialogue Tag
Prompt: share a section of dialogue that we like from our own work! It can be funny, sad, ridiculous, mysterious, plot-centric or just characters shooting the breeze…anything! And it can be from a WIP or a posted fic! It can be short or long! Let’s celebrate our beloveds having a chat.
Thanks for the tag, @cha-melodius. Doing this made me realise I don’t always have that much back and forth dialogue in a lot of my fics, which was interesting. I think I am getting better with dialogue, so these two are recent works.
From Keeping Hope Alive, Mobius and Ravonna talking like besties.
“Stop it,” she hissed.
He raised his eyebrows, pretending to be surprised. “So, there is something?”
“It’s part of the job.”
“Uh huh.”
“You are ridiculous.”
Mobius smiled. He knew exactly what she’d done. Despite all her carefulness, Mobius knew Ravonna too well to not pick up on all the missing details.
“When did it happen?”
Ravonna scowled. “I’m not having this conversation.”
“Fine,” Mobius chuckled. “I’ll tell you about Loki instead.”
A growl escaped Ravonna. “If it’s anything like before, I don’t want to hear about it.”
“You sure?” Mobius teased. “Not even to stop me asking about Kang?”
From a WIP Stizzy/Steddyhands fic for the OFMD Reverse Big Bang, created with @unlovedhands. I love Buttons and I couldn't help but have Izzy and him talking, first mate to first mate.
“Hmmm.”
“What?” Izzy asks.
“Karl just said there’s another ship chasing us. It’s quite far behind, though. We should be able to board this ship, rob it and then store everything away before we have to face whoever it is.”
Izzy frowns. He looks at the bird, who seems to eye him back.
“He said all that in just a few squawks?”
“The language of birds is much more refined than ours. It’s a wonder we can say anything at all with how many words we need to use.”

Chapter 7 - I'm here to stay
There was an old saying that said that no news are good news. But when almost half a day has gone by and there was no news from Alec - no calls, no messages, no surprise portalling -, Magnus felt like slowly losing his mind. Not to be an overbearing boyfriend, especially when your partner is a Shadowhunter, but this was no ordinary mission either. Hell, Magnus would feel more reassured if Alec was dealing with a Greater Demon, not Camille.
He dread to think what that woman could do to Alec. She killed Magnus without an ounce of regret, and they knew each other for centuries. But Alec was new, Alec was… was…
Magnus groaned out loud. He needed a drink.
Or ten.
But before he could even dare to touch one of Ragnor’s very expensive decanters, his phone vibrated inside Alec’s his sweater. He hurriedly fished it out to accept the call, expecting to be Alec with good news, but his stomach totally dropped when it wasn’t his boyfriend’s name on the screen.
It was Isabelle’s.
It didn’t sound good.
“How bad is it?” Magnus quickly said in lieu of a greeting.
Perhaps Izzy had already anticipated this kind of reaction because she went straight to the point without trying any amenities or giving excuses.
“Bad, but he is stable now. Cat tried her best, and alongside some iratzes, he might be as new in a couple of weeks.”
Weeks. Magnus let out a shaky breath.
Would the result be different if he was there to fight together with Alec? Maybe he could’ve persuaded Camille or…
Or he have her mess with your head again.
Magnus shook his head. No, he couldn’t go there. Not now.
“I feel so useless,” he said anyway. “Of course, I trust Cat’s healing skills, but if I still had my magic…”
If I still were a warlock...
Isabelle stayed quiet for a moment, and Magnus dreaded the pity that was about to come.
Though, surprisingly, it didn’t. Her voice was kind, almost amused.
“When it’s about Alec, you don’t really need magic, Magnus. Believe me, your charms are enough. You make him feel better than any healing spell or angelic rune. Would you like to come and keep him company? I’m pretty sure he’ll be very happy waking up to you next to him.”
And because she was Isabelle Lightwood, she couldn’t help but also tease.
“He’ll probably be less fussy, too. Raziel knows that my big brother can’t stay still for long, even worse if you’re on the other side of the ocean and he can’t portal without a healer’s approval.”
That was what sealed the deal for Magnus. He was still very uncertain of stepping into New York, especially the Institute, but since all this undead ordeal had started, Alec was the one bending over backward for Magnus, coming and going all the time without complaining once. It was about time that Magnus would do the same for his boyfriend.
Yes, for Alec - and mayhaps even for himself - Magnus could be brave again.
No more hiding.
“Yes. Please, ask Biscuit to open a portal for me.”
Isabelle’s glee was all he needed as a response.
~*~
Magnus barely left the portal and already found himself with his arms full of Clary and Izzy.
“We missed you so much, Magnus.” Clary tightened the hold on him, almost as if afraid he would disappear again in the blink of an eye.
“I’m sorry for taking so long to see you again.” He smiled, patting their backs gently.
“If you pull that shit again, I’ll force you to eat my special lasagna, even if you can’t eat anymore.” Isabelle sniffed.
“I wonder how that would taste now…” He mumbled before hearing someone snickering behind him. When he turned his head, Magnus found Jace looking at him somewhat fondly.
“Welcome back, Bane. You look good.”
“And you look like shit, Jonathan.”
Magnus wasn’t even teasing. Jace looked really bad - his skin looked grayish, clearly clammy, and the bags under his eyes were a sickly purple. Magnus could only imagine what kind of pain was bleeding from the parabatai bond.
And if Jace was bad, Alec was twice worse. Not only in appearance but the readings on the EKG device didn’t look good. Alec’s heart was too frantic for someone who was lying down. There was also a sling immobilizing his left arm, bandages covering the entirety of it until his shoulder.
If they had to do that the mundane way, something was very, very wrong.
“What happened?”
“Camille was expecting us. I think she wanted us to come. So, of course, she wasn’t alone. She had a lot of followers, most of all still fledglings, demons, and a couple of warlocks. We took care of them while Alec and Cat ran after Camille, but–”
“Cat?” Magnus gasped in horror, his eyes wide in panic. “Catarina never gets involved. How did she…”
“Cat was furious,” Jace grumbled. “She demanded to go with us and Alec didn’t even blink twice to allow her.”
God, he was going to have words with Cat. She was supposed to be the level-headed between them, not indulging his boyfriend in murdering tendencies against his ex.
Well, somehow Magnus wouldn’t be surprised if it actually was the opposite and Alec was the one indulging Cat.
He sighed tiredly, but couldn’t hide the fondness regarding this blooming friendship between them. What was he going to do with those two?
“So, what else?”
“There was a rift open in the basement where all the demons were crawling from. We aren’t sure what hell realm it was, though. Not only the demons were a different kind, but a strange smoke was spiraling in there. It was contained somehow, and we can only guess it was per Camille’s request because it seemed poisonous to Downworloders too.”
Magnus hummed. He could guess what hell realm it was, and if he was right, they had dumb luck. The venom from its demons’ teeth was quick, effective, and fatal.
“Was there any casualty on your side?”
“Only scratches, but no bites. The only one who got truly hurt was Alec.” Izzy sighed, gently squeezing her brother’s ankle. “Between Alec and Cat, when Camille realized it was over, she tried to at least take one of them with her.”
“Cat.” Magnus guessed in a beat.
Izzy blinked in surprise. “Yes. How do you know? Even I thought she was going for Alec.”
Magnus shook his head.
“Camille is very clever. Yes, she could’ve tried to harm Alexander to hurt me, but she always saw the bigger picture first. Without Ragnor and Raphael, Cat is the only immortal closest to me as my family. If she died, and decades later I also lost Alec due to his mortality, I’d be all alone.”
Izzy nodded slowly, clearly disturbed by that woman’s cunningness.
“At least she failed…” Magnus shuddered, holding tight on Alec’s good hand to remind himself that his boyfriend was safe.
“Yes, because my self-sacrificing brother was able to throw himself in front of Cat in time and serve as a living shield. Camille ended up grabbing him instead and both fell inside the rift. Alec grabbed a rock in time, but that harpy craved her nails on his shoulder. It tore his muscles to the bone. He almost got his entire arm ripped out.”
Magnus flinched.
“But she still didn't give up.” Jace continued, clearly annoyed. By his frown, he would bring Camille back just to kill her again if he could. “She only failed to drag Alec with her because his ring shoved her or something. It was pretty strong and-”
“This is why it will take some time to totally heal.” Isabelle intervened, sending a ‘shut up’ glare to Jace. “We were able to prevent the loss of movements on his arm, but it will take a lot more iratzes and physical therapy to get to what it was before. No bow for him for a while.”
“At least it wasn’t his right arm. Alec would get crazy without being able to write reports.” Jace snickered.
Magnus snorted though. “Bold of you to assume he wouldn’t learn how to write left-handed just for that.” Then shook his head in fond disbelief while regarding his unconscious boyfriend. “Silly Shadowhunter…”
However, something started bothering him and he turned to Isabelle and Jace again.
“There is only one thing I don’t understand. You said that Camille almost ripped his arm off when she held onto him, but some magic from a ring pushed her. What ring?” Magnus frowned. Alec didn’t wear rings as far as Magnus knew. His Shadowhunter didn’t seem one to like jewelry, after all. Did he pick up one of Magnus’ as a good luck token? Magnus did have some that were imbued with a couple of enchantments. Nothing strong enough to counterattack dark magic, however.
“God, you can’t keep a secret if your life depended on it, Jace…” Alec groaned and three pairs of eyes snapped towards him.
“Alexander!” Magnus immediately lifted Alec’s hand and peppered his knuckles with kisses.
Alec’s pale cheeks immediately gained some color, causing his siblings to snicker.
“Sorry, buddy.”
“No, you’re not.”
“No, I’m not.” Jace full-on grinned and Izzy giggled after seeing the attempt at a glare by Alec.
“Hush, children. Off you go, you two. I need to take care of my boyfriend now. Shoo!” Magnus waved his hand towards the door, not even trying to feign a look at those two heathens.
The infirmary door closed after stifled snorts and hushed snarks, but neither man paid any attention to them, only having eyes for each other.
“Hi.”
“Hello, my love.” Magnus smiled. “It looks like you had a difficult mission.”
Alec groaned again. “Difficult doesn’t even cover it. I’m so glad it’s over though. Camille won’t be a problem anymore, and you’re finally free from her.”
Magnus’ smile turned a bit sad on the corners. “At a high cost, I’m afraid. I’m just happy the price didn’t skyrocket with your life. I’m really glad you tried to protect Catarina, but you could’ve died, Alec.”
“I know, I’m sorry. I didn’t really think. When I saw her going to Cat, I just… acted.”
The vampire nodded but didn’t try to reprimand him or anything. He was too relieved for that. Too relieved knowing it was finally over and there would be one less nightmare of a never-ending pile of them. Or so he wanted to believe. The shadows always lurked for a little while after.
“Marry me.”
Alec blurted suddenly and Magnus startled.
“W-What?”
“I was going to wait more until I was sure you were more settled and ready, but God, Magnus. I can’t. I love you so much. Calling you my husband consumes my thoughts all the time.” With some difficulty, Alec reached for the ring he had been carrying for the last days. “This isn’t the right one yet. The warlock jeweler I’m in contact with has been running some experimental tests with different types of strong protective and tracking spells. For us both. So you’ll also never have to worry about me.” Alec smiled a little. “I think I can let Soohyun know that her spells are a success.”
The older man gaped at him.
“Please say something, Magnus.”
It was then that the whole dam broke as if only now the reality had hit Magnus with full force.
Magnus started to giggle.
Then, the giggles morphed into a hysterical laugh.
And then, into sobs.
Alec was alarmed, certain that he had done something wrong. He was about to backpedal and ask Magnus to forget about it when the man grabbed his cheeks and practically slammed their mouths together. The kiss was a bit painful - definitely wet and salty - but Alec ignored even his injuries to reciprocate all the love bleeding from Magnus.
“Only you…” Magnus was still sobbing, but there was a hint of a smile in his words. “Only you would propose to me at a Shadowhunter infirmary, darling.”
Alec blushed hard, then shrugged, going for nonchalant and missing by a mile.
“The only other option seemed to be during some Apocalypse. Maybe a city burning, demons everywhere.”
Magnus half-sobbed, half-giggled, and Alec smiled softly.
Completely smitten.
“Is this a yes? No? Or do you need time to think about it?”
“Alexander.” Magnus tried to wipe his face the best he could with his hands, and only then he looked at the Shadowhunter with a big, genuine smile.
His eyes were a little swollen around the edges, his make-up was all smudged, his nose would probably be very red if he wasn’t a vampire, and there was what seemed to be a bit of snot on it.
And yet.
Even a mess, Magnus Bane was beautiful.
Alec loved him so much.
“It has been a yes since you scrunched your nose in the most adorable way when I served you a drink that you hated. And then, when you had to go back to the Institute because your mother demanded, you still chose to spend the whole night talking to me about the most ridiculous topics. It has been a yes since that night, cintaku.”
At that moment, Alec’s eyes lit up in a way that Magnus would never forget.
He was certain not even the gold of his former eyes could outshine them.
They were full of love, hope, and adoration.
Magnus kissed Alec again, happily drowning in his boyfriend.
No. Fiancé.
He already loved that word.

WIP Wednesday Game
All right, it's that time of week! I've gotten a lot accomplished on Wednesdays in the last month or so, and I'm hoping to keep that train rolling! Thanks in part to this time, I've managed to post three things in the last week. Send me some asks to keep me moving along!
As always, credit to @kedreeva
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. If you tag me in your post, I will send you an ask request! Also, if you send me an ask, I'll look on your page to see if you'd like one back. This works best when we help each other!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write.

Eddie knew it was cruel to consider himself the worst parent because he worked nights. That wasn’t fair to himself, but missing his daughter’s first day of school felt like something a bad parent did. Chrissy kept insisting he was wrong. Eddie wasn’t sure he believed her.
Still, he put on a smile for her benefit as he scrolled through the photos of their baby girl grinning that toothy grin of hers outside the school building. One of Izzy’s friends would be bringing her home in the next half hour, a remarkable carpooling situation Chrissy could also take credit for figuring out. Parents didn’t like talking to Eddie. He looked too much like the kind of guy they’d someday tell their girls not to date and their sons not to be friends with—or if they were more accepting, tell all their kids not to associate with.
“All grown up,” he cooed before finding himself blinking back tears. “Fuck, Chris, where’s the time going?”
She groaned and scrubbed her hand over her face. “I have no idea, but I would like it to slow down.”
They shared a moment at the kitchen table before Chrissy stretched and stood to take her mug over to the sink. Eddie would wash it and the other dishes later before he headed out for the night. They had a pretty good system going—better than most actual couples he knew.
He took a sip from his own before asking, “You still a date tomorrow night?”
“No,” she said reluctantly. “Izzy’s got a playdate at the park now after school, so I didn’t feel like I’d have enough time to feed her and get ready before taking her to Gareth’s.”
“Gareth can cook.”
Chrissy raised an eyebrow.
Eddie pursed his lips for a moment, then nodded. “Yeah, okay, she can’t eat anything Gareth makes without us worrying about the fire department involved. I could take her, though.”
She shook her head. “Eddie it’s a Friday night. I can’t let you skip work. Plus, they’ll pitch a fit if you cancel on a client this close to the event.”
Eddie sighed. She was right, but he didn’t have to like it.
Chrissy’s face softened, and she came over to press a kiss to his forehead. “I appreciate you trying to make this work for me, but this is the reality of having a kid. If me rescheduling the second date is a dealbreaker, then she’s not actually interested in me — not in a way I can make work anyway.”
“If you’re sure,” Eddie said. “The next time, though? I’ve got it. Just let me know, okay?”
Chrissy reached out to squeeze his hand. “I will. I promise.”

Something I Read - The Eighth Doctor Strips
So, while I haven't (yet) heard all of Eight's audios, there are only a handful left. And I have started reading the books (going through Kursaal right now. You can find my commentary of the books on the 'bookshelf' tag). So, while I have a lot to go through, I wanted to start something new, different, exciting.
And so I decided to read the Doctor Who Magazine comics. And what a ride it was.
Tumblr media
To make it easier for me and to write a cohesive text, I'm going to talk about individual stories and then at the end of each volume comment upon the overall arch.
Endgame, by Alan Barnes - ★★★☆☆
It's not a bad start, but not my favorite. The Toymaker is a fun concept but his stories are very inconsistent to my tastes. Here, he is fine. The comic is smart in the sense that the use the format to its fulliest, allowing the Toymaker to be as cartoonish as ever - and it fits.
And even tho there is a comedic tone, he still comes off as a threat. There is a gruesome scene where he crushes a character bones and flesh. You can feel the pain. I usually do not like when a new companion is introduced in a continuity heavy story as I think it takes atention away from them.
Izzy is great. She is a geek, she is witty, she wants adventure. She is flawed, I couldn't help but wince at how selfish she sounds when she talks of her parents - which she has been fighting with over insecurities about being adopted. She doesn't even call them mom and dad anymore. And that makes her come alive. She is a breathing, living person. And we have a wonderful journey ahead in a yellow brick road.
The Keep, by Alan Barnes - ★★★★☆
The comics got me here. Endgame is nice and all, but it's The Keep who starts playing with bold new ideas for the stories. I got a glimpse of what I could get out of these and I loved it. I was all in for the ride.
Eight and Izzy arrive at the far, far future, near the time the sun is failing and soon enough it will be no more. It's Earth dying days. It's a wasteland. The whole planet turned into a warzone as the Transmat Wars begun - a concept never fleshed out but engaging nonethless.
What's more interesting, though, is that a local scientist have dedicated his whole life to building a superficial star. It had unexpected consequences, as it turned out that it's actually alive. Eight is nedeed so someone bonds with the star, guide it towards the right path. Crivello, the scientist, tried - but even short exposure to the star was enough to make him age years in a blink. A time traveller - even better, a time lord - is needed.
I find the scene Eight merges with the plasma beautiful. This incarnation more than any other feels to me like a force of nature, a constant to the universe, and so I'm always on board when he is influenced by forces outside his control - and vice-versa. Izzy gets anxious and cries, because the Doctor may have died, and it finally hits her that if he does, there is no way back home - for now the narrative don't dive into this topic, but it's a nice touch still.
And then the story takes your breath away, as when everything seems nice and done, Crivello is brutally murdered by his assistant.
Fire and Brimstone, by Alan Barnes - ★★★★★
I did not want a Dalek story, but I am glad I got one because this one is great. It continues the plot points left open at the end of The Keep, as Izzy and Eight visits the same place decades later. The new artificial sun is now stable, but there is a threat in the horizon.
I love that plasma from the Cauldron can be used to see the future, and I love that Eight still have a link to it because they'll always have a bit of each other. I really like the wasps weapons (biological?) the Daleks use to control the humans. It's horrifying, it's disgusting, it looks great. It's truly unsettling, the panels of characters vomiting hordes of insects after infection.
The Daleks are a real threat this time around and it makes perfect sense that they would try to irredicate genetic variants from other dimensions. It's a pity that we see little of that conflict, because the mutant Daleks looked GREAT.
I was devastated that the Cauldron imploded at the end. It all ends considerably well, but there is a wild sorrow of knowing that a whole new lifeform died. I love a rich diverse universe, and I want it to last. What is even more bitter, though, is Eight's silent rage that he can't right now strike back at the Threshold - you can tell by looking at his face in the last page how furious he is over Ace.
Tooth and Claw, by Alan Barnes - ★★★★★
The superior Doctor Who's Tooth and Claw, mind you. I loved this. It's a horror story at heart. The Eighth Doctor and Izzy are pulled into a murder mystery plot in an isolated, atmospheric isle as one old acquaintance of his, Fey, call for his help. And then the guests start dying, one by one.
It's fun, it's believable and it's the kind of horror story I am always open to. Conflict comes not only from the apparent supernatural menace, but also from humans interactions - Marwood hunting Izzy is terrifying, the human ability to be more frighting and cruel than any fictional villain ever could.
Which is not to say the fictional villain is bad, because it only gets better. From the start we are told of a local ghost; then we have bodies on the house and killer monkeys; and yet we also get bottle diseases and vampires. And it all ties well together. This is an island of terrors, ever entertaining.
It ends on a huge cliffhanger, with Izzy and Fey taking Eight to Gallifrey to help him recover from what may well be a mortal wound.
The Final Chapter, by Alan Barnes - ★★★☆☆
Reading the extras I was surprised by how harsh Barnes was with this story - it's not bad at all. Yes, a lot of its themes and plot points were better fleshed out in Neverland, but it's good for what it is.
I love the scene where Eight meets Rassilon and a whole council in his dreams. Demoiselle Drin says she has taken the seat of Merlin the Wise, and given that the Doctor himself is Merlin I wonder about these implications. I love villain Rassilon - but it's refreshing to a seemingly well meaning version of him, too. I wonder, also, as Eight is in the Matrix, if this is the same Rassilon of Zagreus. It's fun to try and fit all these piece of a jigsaw never meant to be completed.
The clone plot is not that enganging, but as Eight and Fey explores "madworld" to try to understand what the hell is happening, I was wondering if a bit of this went into Seven's part in Zagreus, with little rat Charley. And that's the main problem of this story. Ideas better realised elsewhere. A group of time lords trying to gain control of Gallifrey and rewrite its history? Neverland. A kind-of time cult? Faction Paradox. Weird surrealists scenes in the Matrix and timelords' minds? Zagreus.
The regulars are great, and the story is engaging enough. Also, the cliffhanger of a lifetime.
Wormwood, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
This was fun and a great conclusion overall to the Threshold. It's not what I was expecting and while that sometimes oes play a role in how much I like a story, this one has ideas strong enough so that it didn't really matter.
I wouldn't say this story is mocking the Briggs-Doctor, but it does play with the readers expectations in that way in a time we only had the expanded universe. Of course I already knew Eight wouldn't be regenerating while reading these comics so it didn't hit me in that way, but it was fun nonetheless. What I thought, however, is that this would be a retroregeneration or something alike, so I was very much pleased to known that it was actually Shayde playing as the Doctor.
I'd have preferred if the Threshold were actually a natural ocurrance of the universe and not a fabricated species made mainly of humans buuuut as I said previously this is fine. I also wished to a darker motivation for them other than greed, but that's also fine. What I do like a lot is the terror that went through my body when they killed everything in space - and I wish it was not reversed at the end. Not only it would weight upon the characters, but also would be so interesting to see how the whole universe would handle something like this.
We have a glimpse of that kind of horror, of whole civilazations colapsing, but I wish we got some time to explore this idea fully.
Shayde is ine of my favorites things about the comics. It's an amazing concept brought to life wonderfully and that gets even better when coupled to Fey, who is also amazing. How they handle their new status quo is not explored here but rather in future stories, but I do have to say that I love it.
Happy Deathday, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
It's a fun anniversary story. All these Doctors interacting is great.

The Fallen, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
I'm not the biggest fan of Grace, mostly because I don't see many ways to use the character interestingly. Well, The Fallen does it wonderfully. There is something wrong in London and Grace is somehow at fault.
I love her relationship with Eight. It's still a bit sexual - they do kiss once more - but honestly it doesn't bother me. I do not share the opinion the Doctor should never engage in romantic or sexual relationships, I just want it to have meaning.
Grace is repenting for her faults. She thought she had a special future ahead of her beacuse of what she was told in the movie, but now she helped creating a huge danger that is getting people killed. She resents the Doctor in some ways, that he wasn't there and feels like he mislead her. She calls him out when he gets angry with her - he out the world in her hands and left her and she didn't known better.
Izzy and Eight at this point are already the dream team. Their domestic scenes are great and this time around Izzy is alone for a bit - the Doctor believes her dead. She is growing up and have already come a long way around, which is one of the main themes of her stay in the TARDIS. She is in a way a mirror to Ace - completely differente character, yes, but I mean in how she fits as a companion.
She is a sapphic character with parents issues, her stories can be read as a coming of age and her relationship with the Doctor is a bit paternal. Just like Ace. The first big arc of stories with Izzy as a companion handles the Threshold, who are responsible for Ace's death, so I don't think I am completely out of my depth when I say that this era of Eight mirrors Seven's life.
Unnatural Born Killers. by Adrian Salmon - ★★★★★
I love Kroton. If you don't love Kroton, there is something wrong with you. Seek help. This is not his introduction, he appeared on the magazine twice before - both good stories, but Ship of Fools is a must read. He is tragic to the core and deals with a concept that I love and wished to see more in Doctor Who: a faulty Cybermen, who kept this emotions.
I am happy to dicovered the expanded universe because now I have three plots like this to feed my fictional needs: Kroton, Marc and Bill. So that's no longer a problem. But I would love to see more of Kroton - it's such a pity that these stories don't leave much room to have him along Eight and Izzy because they are absolutely one of my favorites TARDIS teams ever.
Unnatural Born Killers get Kroton - already well established - and makes him even better by making him an action hero. The art is beautiful and I love every single fight scene of his. Also, he punches some Sontarans in the face. I love the guy.
The Road to Hell, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
Izzy and Eight get to 17th century Japan, where creatures from the myths are terrorizing local population. Sato Kitsura is a samurai who just lost his lord to a demon and now seeks revenge upon these creatures.
I am a sucker for stories of fictional characters or monsters being real, so we already started strong. I also love historicals, so that's two points for The Road to Hell. And while I do prefer them to be pure historicals, I actually love how this story handles its sci-fi elements.
An alien species gave a local lady a machine that allows her to make anything alive out of her thoughts. They only wish to observe what she makes of it as they want to understand the concept of honor. It's a great idea even if not the highlight of the story, as their conflict with the Doctor is not all that much relevant, but I like it still.
What makes wonders out of this concept - besides amazing drawings of creatures and japanese pop culture - is when lady Asami uses the machine to try and see what comes of Japan in the future, when she discovers that Izzy is from the 20st century. What she sees is, of course, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And then she goes bonkers.
What I think could've been handled better is how much seeing so impacted her psyche because she has little character layers after this points as she is going balistic. Because while she was not a good person up to this point, it's not hard to understand why she would get mad at what she saw. She has every reason to get furious. And I don't think that entitlement to anger is given proper focus. But I like it still.
This story also ends with the Doctor making Sato immortal, which he hates as he was trying to kill himself in ritual now that his revenge was done. He feels the Doctor robbed him of his honor, of his humanity even, but is dismissed. In one perspective, I like a lot what this says of the Doctor - about how him being a time lord make him insensible to others sometimes and how badly he can mishandle a situation. Because he thinks he knows better. And so he dismisses what other people have to say.
But I was also rewatching seasons eight and nine of the new series while reading these comics, so I was surprised about how similar Ashildr's character is to Sato. They are handled completely different in some aspects, and while I actually like Alshidr a lot, I would say Sato makes the most of it. I don't known if Moffat had ever read these comics, but oh my gosh it's almost the same plot.
TV Action, by Alan Barnes - ★★★☆☆
Beep the Meeo is back. Haven't read The Star Beast yet so I wasn't pumped, but he is fine. The best part is Beep being defeated by Tom Baker talking too much, however.
The Company of Thieves, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
Or that story where the Kroton plot comes into the ongoing Izzy storyline and we get the best TARDIS team ever.
I got worried for a second beacuse of Eight's initial reaction to Kroton - he tries to kill him and it appears to be sucessful - that I was going to be denied grandeur, but it all works out well. The crew characters are not that interesting and they look a bit too 90's comics for my tastes.
The Glorious Dead, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
One of my favorites Doctor Who stories ever. It does everything it wants to do magnificently.
The setting is gorgeous. I love how this diplomatic meeting goes wrong in the worst way possible and we are left in this deadland. I love also how it ties to the religious themes and what makes humanity - in a loose sense of a human. The Doctor is out of the story when things gets bads; Izzy and Kroton are left to handle things themselves.
And how far has Izzy come. In one if its parts, this story makes the best of the doctorless time to show us how Izzy is now capable of doing a lot - I got my eyes wet reading her letter to Max; her relationship with Kroton is beautiful and I love how they relate by feeling like outsiders and less than human sometimes. I love that Izzy has a plan and that it works. The whole universe was doomed, but then Izzy Sinclair gave them a chance. And then she is dead.
Or so Russell T Davies thought, alongside us readers. Kroton rage after her death is heartbreaking. And then we see that Sato is somehow tied to this situation. Time made him insensible in his immortal life and now the only thing he believes in is death. Being denied death made it the thing he wants the most and the Doctor, even if unintetional, made a monster out of him. Of course Sato has personal responsabilities and this theme is dealt within the story itself, but it was his immortality that made it possible this horror movie ti happened.
And while I am in this topic, I love the body horror of this story. The way these people burn themselves to death for their beliefs is disturbing. The "monsters" desings are dope. There are a lot of alien species here, and they all look cool. Ooooh, and towards the end when it's revealed that this is what came of Earth...
And so I need ti talk about the other half of this story: the Doctor meets the Master once again. And of course he has been manipulating recents events. And it's interestingly in many layers.
First, the Master seems to have changed into someone different. Or so he says. And I do believed he did, I just don't think it was for the better. What he has now is a belief and that makes him more dangerous than ever. He may not have become a better or worthier person, but he does terrible things while trying to prove so. He wants to show how monstruous the Doctor's actions are but don't take any responsability to himself as he believe it was done for a cause. And it all comes into his need to prove himself better than the Doctor.
Secondly, it's a meta commentary on their relationship and how they destroy everything around them. And I mean that in a textual sense - they are the main characters of the story, but what about the lives of the people they leave in pieces? The Glorious Dead turns this around by making the Master - and even the Doctor, a little bit - think he has a destiny, that this story is about him and his friend. But it's not. It's about the little people. It's about Izzy and Kroton and Sato and how they try and get up again. Trying to reclaim themselves of a world that is usually center around other people stories.
Kroton and Sato are mirrors of each other in that sense; in how they are dealing with death and immortality. With loss. Of other people, of their souls. It hurts, but it's beautiful.
The Glorious Dead is one of favorites Doctor Who stories. You should read it.
The Autonomy Bug, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
This is going to sound pedantic but I am not a comedy guy. It's not that I hate it, just that I prefer drama overall. It's why it's rare to see me having much to say about a comedy story. This was great. It's a basic concept - robots appears to have gone crazy - but handled beautifully to tell a story about what makes us, us. The characters are weirdly complex for the little time they have to show it off. The funeral scene is as sad as they come.
The ending made me emotional. It's completely different from the stories Scott Gray told in his Eighth ternure overall, and it's great by being so. It may not be my favorite of the bunch, but it stands ou as unique.
Izzy's Story, by Alan Barnes - ★★★☆☆
Second time listening to this story. The first one I hadn't read any Izzy stories yet so I wanted to see if my opinion changed. It didn't. It's not bad, I have fun with it and all, but it takes what I like the least from Barnes' stories to make an audio. It's one of Eight's most cuttest and comedy based like Deathday and TV Action and so it feels inconsequential to me.
I don't know if I agree this should be placed here. Izzy sounds a bit too immature and so I think it would work best earlier in her timeline. The plot itself of Izzy going after a comic book that desappeared is nice, but I don't care much for the conclusion.
Tumblr media
Ophidius, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
This is interesting in many ways. It introduces Destrii, so that's already a must read. It also starts the body swap plot, which I love. Izzy has never been so betrayed and it's really interesting to read, as next stories will explore. And I love the setting. Ophidius is a living ship who has its own ecosystem. The people who control the ship are horrendous and the idea that so many people have been turned into beats is horrifying.
The visuals are beautiful. I love the design of the mobox when they are in fours, but I thought they didn't look that good on two legs. There are many other cool aliens designs in Ophidius, including Destrii. That chair that let Eight become invisible by placiing him just a milisecond in the future is a dope technology that, under the show rules, make sense.
I wondered for a second if Eight wasn't going to notice that Destrii was in Izzy's body but thank gosh he did. I don't like when this happens in this trope because it undermines the characters relationships and at this point Eight should be able to recognize if there is something wrong with Izzy - and he did.
Beautiful Freak, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
A wonderful character piece. Izzy is depressed. She is in a body that isn't hers; her own destroyed in Ophidius. She feels ugly, disgusted and angry and don't know what to make from here on. Her life has changed forever. While I think Izzy's thoughts about Destrii's body are a bit cruel, it's understable. She was betrayed, she had her own body and now she won't ever be able to go home. She has every right to be outraged.
The pages where Izzy is submerged in pool as she can't breath is painful and so, so beautiful. Her dialogue with Eight gets to my heart. A sample of the best Doctor Who have to offer.
The Way of All Flesh, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
An interesting story. I don't think we reach the full potential of the concepts introduced here, but it's fun and emotional and have nice things ti say. We get a glimpse at Frida Kahlo's life in the Día de los Muertos as there is something terribly wrong happening.
This is a horror story. It uses body horror concepts to the fullest. It's as disgusting as Doctor Who gets. The Way of All Flesh introduces the necrotists, alien artists that make art of the dead, out of pain. A bit influenced by Hellraiser, I would say. I like that Gray chose the day of the dead as a setting for this story because it me disguted that the girl would dare to make something horrible out of such a beautiful date.
Frida also fits well into the story. She can relate to what Izzy is going through and I like that she calls her our on her bullshit. The ending is so beautiful, with Frida painting Izzy as she "was". Because it's the same person beneath. There is still the same beauty in her, no matter the state of her flesh.
Character Assassin, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
Oh this is great. Scott Gray was already my favorite Doctor Who writer by this point but he got extra points by writing a hate piece for Moriarty, one of the most infuriating characters to ever be. Oh it was so fucking great to see him humiliated.
Children of the Revolution, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
I thinks about Children of the Revolution a lot, even more than a month after have read it. It's my favorite Dalek story and I doubt that'll ever changed. I love the setting, I love what is done with established history and I love the art and the colors.
Izzy and the Doctor visits a friend of his who can help her acclimate to her new body, Alison. She is a marine biologist who is working in an underwater station. One day, however, they are attacked by (underwater) Daleks. What will happen next will shock you.
Nobody is exterminated. The Daleks choose to get the humans into the city they built underwater. Nobody can know they live there. Because they are peaceful. They are the Daleks with the human factor the Second Doctor helped engineer in Evil of the Daleks. In that sense this is a heavy continuity story and I could have hated it, but I don't. Because it makes something incredible out of the continuity it's using.
This Dalek city is engaging. You doubt every second when something will go wrong, because you know it will. But this time it's not these Daleks fault. It's the humans. I do think it's a complex situation because knowing every single thing the Daleks ever did I would never, ever trust any of them either and so the human characters are not hard to sympathise. But it's so heartbreaking to see something to beautiful crumble into pieces. There was potential here, for a better future, and it's shattered because of hate and mistrust.
It's interesting to have the TARDIS team as outcasts not because they put themselves in an awkward situation - they were friends with the crew - but rather because they are fundamentally different. Neither the Doctor or Izzy are humans at this point. The Doctor have story with the Daleks, and these ones trust him. They are outsiders and for once the Doctor have his hands tieds. He don't know if he can trust the Daleks, but if he don't and he is wrong - this is a chance of a lifetime. But he has no pull over the humans anymore. There is no winning.
And of course, there is Kata-Phobus. This huge, gorgeous, lovecraftian monster who has lived in this planet for ages and influenced this Dalek colony since its inception. It also influenced the conflict with the humans as it wants to feed upon them all. Kata-Phobus in a sense is there to externalize all that is wrong with the Dalek-human conflict, that ideia of racial superiority, that ideia that there are outsiders. That some people are essentialy different than others. Phobus is that fear made flesh. He plants fear and distrust in the head of these into his reach and he feeds on it.
So yes, I was moved when, in the climax, Alpha commands his fellow Daleks to autodestruction so that Kata-Phobus is defeated and they die as they wished to live - a peaceful people who didn't want any more death or cruelty in their lives. And so the Doctor and Izzy are left speechless because for once there were goods Daleks - while they saw the worst humanity had to offer. It's a must read. I love it. Just, trust me.
Me and My Shadow, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
Children of the Revolution ends in a cliffhanger with Izzy being abducted by these weird aliens - and now the Doctor is out for blood. But that's not the focus of Me and My Shadow - this is a Doctor lite story as we are reunited with Fey and Shayde during World War II and see how they are doing - not that great, as they have difficulties sharing a body and for the modt part have agreed to be active at different times.
Fey is frustrated that she can't use her abilities to the fullest because Shayde knows what that can do with the timeline. They are now one living being, but they are not in sincrony, and that is holding them back. And we also get hem being badasses and killing some nazis. So ten out of ten.
Uroboros, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
The Doctor recruits Feyde to help him rescue Izzy. Somebody pointed out how this is a bit similar, but in a much smaller scale, to what he does in A Good Man Goes to War, and that's fair. He is also reunited with Destrii who, as we discover, did not actually die neither had Izzy's body been destroyed.
I know it's Destrii kissing him but that panel of Eight being kissed by Izzy's body it cursed. Burn it with fire.
I don't care much for the Mobox plot to be honest. And that's way it loses a star. It's a fair enough sequel to Ophidius and there sre some cool concepts, but the plot falls into who tropes that I don't like that much neither feel like this story had enough pages to try and do something new with then.
Still solid.
Oblivion - ★★★★★
So finally we go after Izzy, who has been taken to Destrii's homeworld. Which is very ugly. I know it's intentional because it's a wasteland, but nonetheless what a ugly, disguting place.
The local riches have turned into humanoid animals some decades before and are now there to entertain local "monsters" - who are actually people of this dimension who have been badly fucked up by actions of the royals themselves and...
This place is a mess and everybody is horrible and no wonder that Destrii became such a horrendous person. She is the most sympathetic of the bunch, actually. Her mother is indeed a monster and was horrible to her. And is horrible to Izzy, when she arrives there mistaken as Destrii. And, of course, she made her daughter fight in arenas to the death.
Destrii once had a pet, that she took care of for months, until the day her mother made her kill it. And Destrii's death since then have been pure death. I wonder why the hell the girl run away.
Oh and her uncle is not much better. He talks like a nicer man but he is as bad. He helps Destrii escape, but it's more so he could test a way to run away himself - he had no way of knowing she would survive doing so. He is only gentler as long as he get something out of it.
So yeah, Destrii is fucked up. The parallels between Izzy and Destrii are great and I love how it's written. I love that Destrii had the option to make hell on earth, but she steps away. I love that she tells Izzy how unfair she has been treating her parents. I love that she kills her mother, even.
And then Izzy. As I said before, this is a coming of age story for her. And now is fully intk adulthood, and is ready to leave home. The TARDIS. So she kisses Fey because you only live once and she is tired of being a closeted lesbian, asks the Doctor to take her to her parents and say it's time she fix things. Izzy has had many adventures and she has grown up so much, and now is time to move on.
And oh, how I will miss her.
Tumblr media
Where Nobody Knows Your Name, by Scott Gray - ★★★☆☆
It's fine. The Doctor is dealing with missing easy while drinking in a bar. It has some fun alien concepts and the Doctor bits are fine. And unkown to him the barman is Frobisher, who doesn't know he is talking to the Doctor because he haven't met Eight yet.
The bits of Eight thinking about retiring do plant some nice ideas tho.
The Nightmare Game - ★☆☆☆☆
I tried. I promised I tried. But I have been reading hundreds of pages of wonderful imsginative stories and then I get to this and... it's inferior. It's leagues below the stories being told before.
The Doctor almost asks the worst kid to ever exist in London if he wants to travel with he him. I get that he is lonely but can we not.
Also it's that guy writing. Yeah. That guy.
The Power of Thoueris!, by Scott Gray - ★★★☆☆
Something I haven't yet is how more violent Eight is in these comics (and the books) when compared to the audios. You might think that's why three stars, but I like it. I think it's fine for some lives of the Doctor be more violent and even cruel than others.
And oh my gosh. He is savage here. That poor hippopotamo girl was irrititating, yes, but oh dear she was eating alive by crocodiles.
Overall a fun story with an art that I like but that is not that consequential.
The Curious Tale of Spring-Heeled Jack, by Scott Gray - ★★★★☆
And then we are back to form. The Doctor is still directionless and in search of his next companion to be, because he collects them as Bruce Wayne collects orphans, this time in victorian London as the city is being "haunted" by a badass looking prankster "ghost".
It has a kinda obvious twist but who cares, it's well written. And one of the best non-introductory companion stories I have seen so far as it actually does something interesting with the non-companion.
Once again the Doctor overstepped but this time he isn't called out neither by characters or by the story. I understand that the girl he met and the monster that revealed herself were two different people and you could make an argument that debating so would make a great plot, but that's not the focus of this story so instead what we see is the Doctor wiping a criminal's woman memory so she lives unaware of her crimes (and honestly without being taken to justice).
I understand why it happens, but I wish the story would delve more into the implications.
Bad Blood, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
I like this story a lot. The Doctor arrives in the USA in 1875 in the middle of a conflict by an indigenous tribe and white people. The leader of the the tribe believes that the Doctor was sent to help them survive. The scenes where the both of them go into the "spiritual world" are beautiful.
And then there is Destrii and her uncle trying to get something out of this situation. There are "werewolfs" attacking nearby villages, which has been rising the racial tension. Jodafra and Destrii offer weapons, much more advanced than they should ever get, to the white soldiers. And, of course, there is also second intentions behind their actions.
I *must* say: Destrii is far from being a perfect person but these traits are written intentionally. She is kind of an asshole in this story because she thinks of this situation as being part of a western movie, one of the few references she has of Earth. She doesn't understand that is helping genocide, the impact of her actions. But she is not a monsters, so when her uncle put children into risk she draws a line in the sand and betrays him.
I like to think she had flashbacks to her own childhood. She is distress by children in danger while she usually have no problem with people dying. And the way Jodastra hits and almost kill her is disgusting and horrifying. Destrii is not a good person, but she is trying to be. And that's a little bit heartbreaking.
Sins of the Father, by Scott Gray - ★★★☆☆
The Doctor takes Destrii to a space station where she can be healed but the station is attacked by vengeanful monkeys who live in zero grav and centuries before were slaves of the same alien race that now owns the medical station. They are not slavers or even violent anymore but that's the only revenge the monkeys are going to get so they will destroy it anyway.
Destrii is a decent person and kinda saves the day and the Doctor offers her stay at the TARDIS. Not the strongest the DWM have to offer but not the best either.
The Flood, by Scott Gray - ★★★★★
Ok so let's start by talking about the elephant in the room. Destrii character makes sense but I still wish she was written a lil bit different here. She is not human and the only thing she knows of humanity are movies and cartoons that are filled with racial stereotypes so she reproduces them when meeting humans and it makes sense but oh my god it's so umconfortable. And I know it's intentional but still.
That out of the way, this is good. Destrii entusiasm of properly visiting Earth is contagious. Too bad they arrive just before a Cybermen invasion. And what a invasion. They have been manipulation local population through water that mess with their emotions. The guy Destrii is racist to tries to kill her because of it as his emotions are totally out of control and it seems as if he is having a breakdown.
Cybermen from the future have arrived in London and are about to try and convert everybody. For starts I love their design, they are my favorite Cybermen just for how gorgeous they look. We meet the M16 characters again and it's disturbing when their emotions are manipulated to they actually have a breakdown. It's cruel and effective when we see these characters that we have met before are hurting themselves, asking for mercy and, later, even converted.
We see them partially converted and it's disturbing.
At its heart this is the best the cybermen have to offer: a story about how our feelings is what make us humans, no matter how heartbreaking it can be, or how painful it might get.
It's also about change, as Eight's time was near its end and the Ninth Doctor was ready to make his debut.
At the climax of the story the Eighth Doctor falls into the time vortex and almost merges with it and the description of him almost becoming one with time itself is beautiful. He chooses to step away from eternity, though, for Destrii. She needs him.
It was the right choice from DWM to not have Eight regenerate here, because they got the perfect ending. Eight and Destrii walking towards the sun, ready to have many other adventures. Because their story together just begun.
This was a wonderful read and there is barely a story I could call bad. Most of them are great or classics, to be honest, and this is perhaps the best Doctor Who has ever been.
So farewell, "but change is what makes us real".

... Sweetling?! Huh, I didn't realize that was an endearment that showed up in *any* Jukebox story. It feels almost wrong in this context, given my associations with it, but ... alas, it's just so interesting to actually see it as a word/endearment being used by *anyone* outside of the one book I stole it from. Tangent aside, this is a fun little slice of a mind controller's life, and it's entertaining to watch her struggle with temptation and fail just as much as the two gals she's speaking with fail to resist her power. Hopefully she learns to control her power before it overwhelms her any more than it already has. 8/10 spirals

Another induction script, and another clever metaphor. I might have to steal this idea sometime, for my own personal use. It's just such a clever mental image, for folk who are more visual. The use of a needle tracing brain activity, where someone can imagine it getting more and more still ... it's a good one! Standard disclaimer for arousal and orgasm suggestions, but it's a good script! 8/10 spirals

Ok, this is adorable! Also has some good heat, but mostly it's just *cute.* Seeing how playfully, how easily, Izzy settles into being a kitty for her partner, how completely she leans into that space? Oh, it's adorable. And I hope that these two stay in love and happy together for a very long time. 9/10 spirals

Heh, how different people can be! I do enjoy this, the build up and the payoff, though. It's unclear from context if the scene interspersed between the sections of conversation is between George and Allie or George and Sue, and I think that's by design. But it does throw me off a little. The descriptions are amazing though You can just see how she's - whichever she she is! - reacting and responding, and it's so good. I'm going to assume Allie for reasons, but I won't say that read is inherently correct. (Heck, given one line, it may be meant to be both at different times!) 9/10 spirals

Oh, this is another lovely superhero story. The Liberty Squad is fun, even if I keep wanting to call them the Liberty Legion/The Legion. (Look, the size of the group and the particular flavor of personalities reminds me of the Legion of Superheros. ANYWAY.) The reluctant hero is an interesting inclusion to the Squad, and it's always fun to see how Sangria gets countered this time. I do wish that Azure could have a better ending here, though; I feel a little bad for her and the reality she has to accept still. 9/10 spirals

THIS IS WHY YOU LOCK YOUR TRIGGERS, DARN IT ALL. Though any competent justice of the peace ought to see  she's not entirely conscious and not sign the paperwork. Look, I just can't stand anyone who won't accept people being bi, it's a pet peeve of mine, so I really dislike Gillian and want her to get her comeuppance, somehow. I was hoping for Chloe to wake up and slap her, or for Auberon to walk in, or SOMETHING. My utter distaste for Gillian makes this story a 5/10 spirals, though the descriptions are on point, as always.

Nope, nope nope nope. This story implies stuff happening after the end of the story that I really, REALLY don't want to think about. NOPE. I'm ... this one just feels mean spirited in ways that I find actively unpleasant. And the mind control isn't even the thing, really; it's all about the personalities involved, and they just aren't compelling for me. The lack of so many things I want, especially any actual *experiencing* of mind control, makes this one just not up my alley. 2/10 spirals

Other than the serial recruitment element in here, this is a story I like a lot of! It focuses so much on her experience of things, and while there's sex she's mostly unaware of it and focused on how she feels. It's a nicely charged story, even if it isn't *really* how hypnosis works. 8/10 spirals

This story is a weird level of detached, that even as the process is laid out lacks - for me - any real charge to make it hot. But if you like the disconnect between conscious mind analyzing, considering, evaluating, and a body that's responding to control, to someone else's desires? Thsi is likely up your alley. 4/10 spirals

IZZY'S 300 BASH
Tumblr media
I am still gagged that…well, there are so many of you guys here. When I first published my stories here I honestly didn’t expect much. I had a built fanbase on wattpad and thought I would publish max two stories on here for a bit of a change, but it turned into so much more. And eventually, it got to the point where I am now practically only active here because tumblr is just so much more comfortable. You guys are who make me comfortable, and I am so glad I can share my writings with you <33
So without further ado, let me show you the 300 bash I prepared for you as my thank you to all of you!!
Everything connected to my bash will be tagged #izzy’s 300 bash so keep an eye on it!!
THE BASH WILL BE OPEN UNTIL DECEMBER 24TH

_ Reactions to _
Send an ask with a specific member or all five on what I think their reaction to a certain thing would be!
Your request doesn’t have to be long, just one sentence is enough for this!
They can be NSFW!
E.g. what do you think Yeonjun’s reaction would be to you paying for your meal instead of him
Tumblr media
Short stories/drabbles
This is where you can let your imagination run however much you want! Just like with normal requests, you can share your idea for a story with me and I will write it!
Please, be as specific as you can with your requests! The more information you give me, the better it will be!
I will try to keep these works between 1k and 2k words, but the actual range I think you can expect for this is between 500 and 3k!
These works can also be NSFW!
Please, keep it one request per person. If you have more than just one idea, you can request it as a normal request and I will write it in the future, just not for this bash! :)
Your request could look like this:
Could you write about Soobin and the reader being academic rivals? Except Soobin has a crush and only competes with the reader so he can see her come running to him and show him her score when she gets a hundred.
Tumblr media
Please, keep all your requests in the inbox! I will not write it if I receive your request in a different way! I do not write for male readers, so all fic will be either gn!reader or fem!reader ! Also, please make sure to mention that your request is meant for the 300 bash, otherwise I would think of it as a normal request and won't write it as fast.
my regular taglist will still apply to this event, but if you wish to be tagged only under this bash you can ask to be tagged through my inbox!
If there are any questions regarding my bash, feel free to send them though my inbox!
