If you could rank all the villain groups from least favorite to most favorite what would be the order? By groups I mean the: top ranked brawlers, HEX, twelve orders, the uuhh mag Mel and his two goth kids, and the Nonet Bakugan or Mechtogan power ranger group Mechtavius Destroyer.

least favorite villain group is definitely the nonets. they get their asses kicked pretty much every time they face the brawlers and i only like 3/8th of them (betadron bc of the homoerotic rivalry with drago and spatterix and stronk bc they're a silly gay duo.) the rest of them are pretty forgettable lol.

as much as i like sellon and anubias, i'll have to bump them down to fourth place because mag mel as a villain is kinda. underwhelming. you'd think i'd like him more considering he's a giant hater and exists solely to make dan's life miserable but no ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ his goals are just random af imo. "i hate dan specifically but i'm also pissed at everyone so i'll destroy all the planets." barodius just went on to become zenoheld 2.0 and nobody likes that guy so yeah mag mel dragged down anubias and sellon's collective score rip.

third place goes to twelve orders for being just ok. i prefer the minor order but ofc the major order needs to be the real villains and they're alright as far as villains go.

second place goes to. . .the top ranked brawlers! they were pretty likeable and i appreciate how all the members were from different countries. the reason why they're in second place is because they're only masquerade's minions for 8 episodes and they all lost for the most part despite being top ranked brawlers (although i understand that the doom card made it hard for our protagonists to lose.)

and first place goes to the vexos! they're memorable, enjoyable to watch and too iconic for their own good. however, they lost wayyy too many times in the beginning of s2 for people who're supposedly the best brawlers in their respective attribute. still, i understand why people write so many vexos fics.

also shoutout to naga's hybrid minions! i'd personally place them in second place or maybe even above the vexos because of how formidable they all were but idk.

I still find it funny how all the "final boss" brawlers were all either aligned with the pyrus or darkus attributes.

Battle Brawlers:

Masquerade & Hydranoid - Darkus

I guess Naga is an exception to that since he wasn't technically aligned with any of the core attributes but his Silent Naga variant seems to lean more towards darkus than any of the other attributes.

New Vestroia:

Spectra & Helios - Pyrus

King Zenoheld & Farbros - Pyrus

Honorable mention to Prince Hydron who was a subterra brawler. However while he was technically one of the main antagonists of the first half of the season, he wasn't actually a brawler until the second half, at which point Zenoheld had already been established as the "final boss".

Additionally, Spectra & Helios switch attribute alignment during a later season but since the switch is to the darkus attribute (and at that point in the series they're no longer enemies) so they're still eligible for this list.

I didn't list Wiseman because he uses all of the Nonet Bakugan which means he wasn't just restricted to one attribute.

There wasn't really any point to this, just a funny little detail. It would've been interesting to see some other attribute as the "final boss" brawler & bakugan duo but I'm fairly happy with the ones we did get.

Bakugan is back on my radar and i just got a dumb idea.

What if Leonidas was born from the nonets' hatred of Drago.

Stupid i know but I love the nonets i thought it was an interesting idea.

For what i was thinking of Leonidas starts as an egg, and one of the nonets finds it, and they take it back to the others. At first Betadron whats to destroy it but he is stopped by Worton, theorizing that this bakugan was born from their hatred.

The nonets reluctantly look after it until one day it hatches and they are left mortified that the hatchling has a resemblance to Drago. Now Betadron really wants to destroy it but he's hesitant about it, they all are. They're ashamed that they've grown attached to egg, therfore attached to the hatchling. One of them makes a suggestion, "let us rise him to be like us." They agree.

So they raise Leonidas to be like them, to feed off anger and hate to grow stronger.

I'm sorry for this

I was reviewing the moments of the battles of Drago's main rivals with him (jp version only) and noticed that only Helios goes into REEEEE mode every time fighting with Drago. Everyone else restrained their emotions to one degree or another (we don't take Reisenoid, because he's already gone crazy).

It made me think about the character of Helios and I remembered a moment from Steven Universe when there was a Ruby and Sapphire wedding. And, despite the fact that Rubin looked more like a boy, she was wearing a dress because of her impulsive nature, inherent more in girls (no shame for girls its just a movie moment that explained like that).

And then I looked at Helios and my brain started building theories.

Maybe in the original script Helios was a female, and there should have been a twist with a love line, but at the last moment it was abandoned.

I don't see any real other reason why Drago, with the development of the season, began to treat Helios kinder and not want to kill/destroy him as it was in ep26, when Helios himself was a cyborg (that Drago even at the end of the season hated/ was afraid to become the same), tried to kill Drago and constantly said what an a****le Drago was.

This did not happen to Drago's other opponents. He started treating them normally/neutrally/with restraint only after they joined the Battle Brawlers or was on the way to join it.

Even more. Drago was worried about Helios' health in ep 16 and 44.

WHY IS THERE SUCH CONCERN ABOUT ONE BAKUGAN? W H Y???

Back to the existing anime. Everyone joking that Drago was Helios gay awakening, but NO

Helios was Drago gay awakening.

I apologize if I was wrong in some moments. BUT THIS THOUGHT HAUNTS ME.

you've definitely brought up some interesting points. when you look at drago's rivals (hydranoid, naga, dharak, betadron) there's no one who's consistently pushed drago to his limits and competed with him quite like helios. helios' drive and dedication towards becoming the strongest bakugan (and beating drago) is downright frightening at times when you consider the extents he's willing to go and the things he's willing to sacrifice.

helios' description in the japanese wikipedia also touches on this:

a few characters have voiced their opinion throughout season 2 on how it's not right to create bakugan and drago and fafnir likewise didn't like the idea of helios modifying his body in order to grow stronger, whether it be through forbidden ability cards or mechanical enhancements. to my understanding, none of drago's other opponents have ever gone through similar hardship for the sake of achieving power and i believe it's because helios continued to push himself to the extreme that drago worried about him, despite being the enemy.

i mean, wouldn't you be worried if you saw this???

also helios being female is an interesting concept 👀 but part of me doubts that would've been the case early in production because from season 2 and onward is when they started to reduce the amount of female bakugan in the show.

the thing with ruby and sapphire in steven universe was also more related to the fact that rebecca sugar wanted to feature a gay wedding in her show and had ruby wear a wedding dress so ruby wouldn't be passed off as a guy in other dubs of the show (but i guess it could also relate to wanting a butch girl wear a dress as opposed to a suit as one might expect.)

and besides helios and drago already have plenty of sexual tension in the show 😏

as for drago's gay awakening, i have a feeling it was percival 😌 but that's just a theory. a GAME THEORY.

drago has a type and it's darkus lolol
