Hahahahahaha so true, the fannish history is weak among some of the young’uns. 

Though I think, to be fair, Munch/Cassidy was the first (slash) ship of SVU, thanks to the Homicide and Oz fans who were jumping on that ship bandwagon as soon as the show started (maybe even before then?) That and maybe Stabler/Beecher crossovers. But alas that died off quickly when Dean Winters left. But Munch/Fin definitely took off quickly (certainly after “Manhunt” in season 2) and didn’t really die off until Season 9 when a lot of folks got disgusted by the addition of Lake/pushing Munch into the background. 

Granted Munch/Fin always got a lot of hate (just look at some commentary on ff.n and the archives of some Belzer fan communities I’ve searched thru) but to act puzzled about it’s existence? Tells me, if I’m gonna be generous, that most of these folks haven’t even watched the 1.0 years.

Anon I think this question is referring to fan content creation but I love the idea that Simon is out there writing fic

My favourite fan creators are @lepainlapine for art and @dehbeh-mcgee @toomanyfandomsneverenoughtime plus inkyfishes Verecunda beswathe and dewinter (on ao3) for fic off the top of my head, everyone in the 18+ discord makes lots of great content too

As for why Simon is my favourite member... He's sexy and he's the funniest of all of them and he's SO peculiar but also such a dad and 6'2". And his hair is very cool and his eyes are such a lovely green. And his shoulder freckles are so nice. And he always gets his kit off he's just SO WEIRD. He's good.

You know, @beswathe’s post on Jimmy and Galloway and how “Galloway and Philips should adopt Jimmy” got me thinking....

If Deirdre and Lionel ever got married, I wonder how many students and former students would attend. After all, I mean just recently one of my teachers got married, and several students went to the wedding. Would there be drama in getting someone to go with? Would troublemakers ruin it? (Especially if they’re jealous.)

Most underrated ship and most overrated ship?

Oh boy, well I’m going to probably be totally obvious with this one (though I debated a bit on which to pick for the second part). Sticking with SVU…

Most Underrated Ship: Munch/Fin, of course. :) Because there’s just so much to work with within canon for these two, between the funny and serious subtext (yes, I AM working on that masterpost/manifesto about that) and just their interesting backstories. So much room to write fic and look at things in different ways—and things/tropes that haven’t been written to death for them, since there’s so little fic to begin with. It’s definitely a ship that needs more love. Hell, I’d be happy to see it get more brOTP recognition and gen fic, not just OTP/romance stuff.

I could go on with my very cynical cranky fandom dinosaur feelings about why it’s not more popular, but I’ll save that ramble and rant for if someone asks me “why do you think [pairing] isn’t popular?” ;)

Most Overrated Ship: I was torn between Barisi and Bensler for this, but I’m gonna go for Bensler. Mostly because my (biggest) issue with Barisi is I just can’t see it, no matter how hard I’ve squinted and tried to give it a chance. But with Bensler? I feel it was and would only continue to be a harmful, toxic relationship for both of them. From my point of view Liv used Elliot as a shield from allowing herself to become romantically involved with anyone else, because Elliot was always there as a “possibility”…until he wasn’t. And Elliot was content to have Liv there as his work-wife; he clearly knew (and enjoyed) what was there beneath the surface between them but wasn’t going to act on it (clear that he wasn’t going to, when he did have the chance during his separation from Kathy.) 

So, with Bensler it isn’t a thing of not-seeing-it or just-not-digging-it, I find it actually a bad relationship them. (I’m not gonna go all “anti” on people who dig it, but these are the problems I personally have with it.)

HAHAHAHAHAHA well I don’t know how established it is or not, except for me and a couple other people (I forget exactly who? @clowchan I think?) decided it needed to be so. (And a few other people decrying it as a horrible ship name. Which kind of makes it all the more perfect IMHO).

@beswathe reminded me I was thinking just this morning how much Fin as leader reminded me of Cragen. Calm and level-headed, not taking things personally, with just a touch of well-earned cynicism. Or maybe even more like Van Buren because he’d understand full well aspects of racism and injustice within the system that others would be oblivious to.

And it’s only sad to me that I highly doubt we’ll ever get to see him in charge again :(

That’s so weird… is it possible someone gave your address at random as a prank? I hope you get some rest soon tho!

Thanks and I have no idea. We couldn’t even get specific information out of them as far as where the call came from. The only possibility I could come up with was reading that sometimes a short in a landline can cause, by pure random accident, a call to go out to 9-1-1. And our landline has been problematic for so long I haven’t even had anything connected to it in a while (and trying to get AT&T or Verizon to take responsibility for repairing it has been an unending dance of “not-our-problem-it’s-their-problem” so, you know, just about to call now to cancel that account anyway.  I was only keeping it active for when I needed to send legal faxes but I can do that from work if necessary.)

There are some neighborhood teens who every once in a while start up with “ding dong ditch” games in the middle of the night, but I don’t know that they’d take it to prank calls? I may post in our private neighborhood FB group to see if anyone else has had any issues lately.
