Being aligned in a physical sense is a feeling of ease and flow. It doesn’t always coordinate with going deeper into the poses. Sometimes it’s just a good feeling in the body, or the breath, or a sense of peace in the heart and soul. That same feeling of being in alignment happens in life. When things are aligned it feels easier, lighter and more free. Being aligned doesn’t mean you won’t have to work, but it does mean that your work will show results and that you’ll feel happy along the way. Look inside at the feeling in your heart as you’re practicing and living your life. Let the emotional intelligence of the body and mind guide you towards alignment. _ Day 6 #bestrongyogachallenge is Side Plank. You can scale the work of those pose up or down to make it truly accessible. Ha version are you doing today? Join us for the challenge and practice with me on @omstarsofficial in my #bestrong series. Let me know how it goes. Help us spread the word as we get close to 3,000 yogis!! _ Link in bio and stories to sign up. And also right here— https://omstars.com/challenges/be-strong-challenge-with-kino _ Outfit is one of my favorite bikini designs by @liquidoactive #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime 🙏 _ Next workshops— Utah Alabama Toronto Shanghai Beijing 💗 _ End of year sale for just $5 for new students to join @omstarsofficial Only 24 hours left!! 🌟 (at Miami Beach, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4iimQkn5ZM/?igshid=wwt8slk7s0bu

I still remember the first time I tried to lift up. I felt so stuck and I never thought I’d ever manage to get even a little bit off the ground. Lolasana is still not the easiest thing for me. I was convinced my arms were too short or that my thighs were too big. But, with years of practice, it happened. So I know if you put in the work you’ll find the strength too. Use blocks or chairs in the meanwhile to the feeling of your body lifting itself fully in the air. Day by day focus on the small steps forward. Believe in yourself and never give up. _ Day 10 #bestrongyogachallenge is Lolasana. Modify on blocks. _ Practice with me on @omstarsofficial Link in bio and stories to sign up. L-sit forever. Are you with me? This is one of my all-time favorite poses. It was the first place where I felt I could lift even a little off the ground. With good technique and lots of practice you will be able to lift up too! _ Tips— 1. The process is the goal—don’t worry about whether your feet are off the ground. Instead, just focus on the technique. So many people kick their feet only to feel even more stuck than before they tried. 2. Trust the technique—think shoulders forward and down, hips back and up. Feel the dynamic working in your body and trust that it works, but that it may take a very long time for you to see the results. 3. It takes time—strength is not something that happens with the snap of your fingers. Instead it takes time to build it up. Put in the work with full faith. 4. Push from the shoulders, pick it up from the lower abs—use a strong front body squeeze to direct the body, feel the power coming from your shoulders as they thrust into the ground, activate the muscles of the pelvic floor and squeeze. 5. Yes, remember the anus—your pelvic floor directs your pelvis. Squeeze the muscles of the pelvic floor and the anus to get a higher lift. 6. Use your flexibility—put in the work of forward bending before you try and lift up. You will feel so much lighter and the pose will be so much easier. _ Day 7 #bestrongyogachallenge is L-sit. Try with blocks if it feels impossible. Practice with me on @omstarsofficial in my #bestrong series. Let me know how it goes. Help us spread the word as we get close to 3,000 yogis!! _ Link in bio and stories to sign up. What I learned on my journey to #bestrong changed my life. Yeah, it was fun to learn to balance upside down, but the real transformation happened internally. When I took the lessons off the mat into everyday life, I started to reap the rewards of all the effort I put in on the mat. That’s what it’s really about—using the experience of life in the poses to make you a better person when you’re living your life off the mat. _ Lessons to learn in Dolphin and Pinchamayurasana— 1. The long view—Be willing to put in whatever it takes, for however long it takes, no matter how long it takes. Commit yourself to a 100 year journey and stay the course 2. It’s not over when you think it’s over. It’s not over when you’re tired or sore or bored or frustrated. It’s not over when you want it to be over. It’s over when it’s over, and in the meanwhile all you can do is keep trying and never give up. 2. Fall 1,000 times, get up 1,001 times. No matter how many times you tumble out of yo Pincha attempts, get back up, dust yourself off and try again. You’ll learn how to build unshakable faith and determination. 3. Just try—don’t judge your worthiness as a human being by what shapes you make. Learn to value the effort and have fun trying. 4. Fail—be willing to fail properly rather than fake succeed. That means if you’re compromising your form to get up for a quick second, it’s better to stay down and focus on good alignment and technique. _ Day 5 #bestrongyogachallenge is Dolphin Pose/Pinchamayurasana. Join us for the challenge and practice with me on @omstarsofficial in my #bestrong series. Let me know how it goes. Day 1 #bestrongyogachallenge is Arms to a T-shape. Something so simple is deceptive in its effectiveness to build strength and alignment. Whether you want to get more stability in your shoulder joints of if you need to do therapeutic work on the shoulders this basic movement is the place to start your journey to strength. _ Join over 2,000 yogis for the challenge and practice with me on @omstarsofficial for the first class in my #bestrong series. Let me know how it goes. Modify the pose for sore wrists by keeping the wrists straight and not extended. _ Link in bio and stories to sign up. Planks for life. Planks forever. This is by far my favorite pose for building strength. I love how it can be truly accessible for all levels, by toning it up or down based on your level. There are always new places to take your plank to! When I first started practicing I wish I would have been taught how to use this pose to build arm strength, shoulder and body alignment and general integration. I’ve seen so many students build solid structure in their bodies with just a few planks a day! What do you think? _ Day 2 #bestrongyogachallenge is Plank. Join over 2,500 yogis for the challenge and practice with me on @omstarsofficial for the second class in my #bestrong series. Let me know how it goes. Modify by bending the knees and letting the knees settle on the ground. Or for sore wrists try it on your elbows or on blocks. _ Link in bio and stories to sign up. Another handstand. Does it matter anymore? What does it all mean? _ I’m interested in depth and meaning, in exploring the places and spaces where what I have to contribute makes a difference. It’s not enough for it to be just a handstand anymore. It has to be about the quality and feeling of journey to the handstand and what the impact of it all will be. If you’re practicing yoga with blinders on about the social, moral and ethical implications of the practice then your yoga has so much more room to grow. I’m not here to show you the flash and fabulousness. I’m here to invite you to dig deeper, to search for meaning, to ask (and maybe not always answer) difficult and provoking questions. _ Handstands are fun and exciting. But they can also be empowering and liberating if you allow yourself to deconstruct the model of behavior and embodiment that relies on you being weak, powerless and voiceless. So ask yourself what it means to #bestrong ? Is it just about the lift ups or does it mean something broader, deeper and more revolutionary? _ There’s a good deal of work to be done deconstructing the current paradigm of yoga and culture. I’m in a period of personal reflection where I’m reevaluating how I can best contribute to the work that needs to be done. I have a voice in this space, one earned through years of dedicated practice. I’m grateful to you for listening and I am listening to you too. There are so many conversations that need to be had, many of which are uncomfortable. What do you see that needs unpacking, debunking or deconstructing in the world of yoga? _ I am aware of what seems like an ironic juxtaposition between a critical attitude and my yoga challenge post where I talk about my online channel, my workshops and my clothing designs. And yet that’s me, I’m both 💗 _ Over 3,000 people are in for the #bestrongyogachallenge this month. Today’s pose is Handstand Pike. Modify on blocks. _ Practice with me on @omstarsofficial Link to sign up— https://omstars.com/challenges/be-strong-challenge-with-kino _ Wearing Miami colors from my @liquidoactive collection Photo @ifilmyoga _ Next workshops— Alabama Toronto Shanghai Beijing 🙏 (at Miami Beach, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4u1tNwnraA/?igshid=17lex10e8y4d1

You may find it hard to believe this, but sometimes I get mad, angry, and even hate the world. When I feel like that all this talk of positivity is extremely irritating. If you’re feeling miserable it can seem insulting to hear someone say that you can just choose to be happy instead. It’s not like flipping a switch. You can’t just go from hate to love, from misery to bliss. But you can take responsibility for your own emotional state. So, this is what I do— 1. I don’t try and love the world, I just try not to hate it. That’s a first step. 2. Observe and own—I watch my feelings, owning them, not blaming anyone else, and give them space to breathe and be. 3. Small things—I focus on three things I’m grateful for or three things I absolutely love, even if they’re unrelated. 4. Forgiveness—While I don’t want to falsely pretend things are on when they’re not, I also don’t want to hold on to hate. I can forgive someone without normalizing their hurtful actions. 5. Do something else—change the scenery, go for a walk, do something that genuinely brings me pleasure and gives me mental space. 6. Communicate—once I’ve gotten clear about the core of the issue, what bothered me, what lines were crossed and, when I’m emotionally calm and mentally clear, I talk about it. But, ideally, not before then unless it’s with my therapist. _ Yoga isn’t always easy. In fact, sometimes it’s really hard and frustrating. When you find a pose that brings up your stuff, it’s a chance to sit with it and really do the deep work of learning that is yoga. _ Day 8 #bestrongyogachallenge is Tittibhasana and it is a really challenging pose that combines strength and flexibility. You will need a feel forward fold and a powerful core. Modify the pose by bending the knees or go for Bakasana as an alternative. To straighten the legs think about hugging the thighs in towards the torso and dropping the heads of the femurs into their sockets. _ Practice with me on @omstarsofficial Link in bio and stories to sign up. Learning to be happy where you are is a big part of the journey to strength. So many people want to breeze by the foundational elements of the practice and jump straight into the advanced looking stuff. But the building blocks of every powerful lift up are contained with the methodology applied to basic movements. Take Navasana, Boat Pose, Day 2 #bestrongyogachallenge —how toh pattern that core and the legs here impacts whether you’ll be able to make that connection when you’re trying to lift up into poses like headstand, l-sit or handstand. Rather than thinking it’s about suffering through and making the shape, instead, I encourage you to find the place where you can best work your bodh with intelligence and subtlety. Remember it’s practice. If it was already perfect there would be no reason to practice. _ Join over 2,500 yogis for the challenge and practice with me on @omstarsofficial for the second class in my #bestrong series. Let me know how it goes. Modify Navasana by bending the knees and possibly even keeping the feet on the ground. _ Link in bio and stories to sign up. There is so much goodness in you, all around you, just for you. Even and especially when you think life is hard, there are angel wings under your feet, carrying you. There is so much strength in your heart. You’re stronger in all the places that were once broken, rebuilt in a true labor of love. You’re blessed beyond belief. _ Day 9 #bestrongyogachallenge is Handstand Tuck. Modify on blocks. _ Practice with me on @omstarsofficial Link in bio and stories to sign up. I used to focus on what would make me feel good, to the point of what some have called selfish narcissism. I’m not saying they’re wrong. As an only child, I was definitely raised to put my own needs first. When I did things I it was natural to focus on what would make be happy. But focusing on my own needs was like feeding a monster. There was always another goal post to pass, always another milestone left undone, and I felt like a failure or an imposter nearly all the time. And, what’s more, I wasn’t truly happy in a real and lasting sense. _ Then, something shifted. It started with a kind of disillusionment with the whole ceaseless cycle of achievement oriented worthiness. But it ended with me untying a knot that I held within my own heart. Once I set myself free, then a new kind of happiness appeared—lasting happiness rooted in the simple experience of life, myself, all things, just as they are. I felt free to be myself. But I also felt like I didn’t know who I was anymore. _ In that unknown space of freedom I asked a new question—if I’m here, and I’m already happy, then what am I here to do? The answer that came for me is to serve. Instead of thinking of what I think is cool or doing what I think will give me a quick ego boost, I now think about what is useful to others. For example, if I’m filming a new video series, I don’t want to just do it bc I think it’s cool, I want it to be truly of use and value. Maybe the shift happened because I finally feel happy within myself as I am. I’m not searching for the next goal post achievement to give me a momentary self-esteem boost. It’s a kind of self-confidence that has set me free to be more present, more of service. I used to be ambitious for myself. I’m still ambitious, but now I’m focused more on what would be awesome to share for the benefit of others. _ I want you to find lasting happiness, real peace and true love. Because I know how radical the shift has been for me, I know it will radical for you too. Let’s do this. _ #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime Photo @yoandyvidal Outfit @liquidoactive _ New #bestrongyogachallenge starts November 1st on @omstarsofficial Link in bio to sign up! 🙏 (at Santorini) https://www.instagram.com/p/B347rNzn5zh/?igshid=os6focnjctu8

And it’s all about practice, practice is practice. Any time spent on the mat counts. Your mind may be telling you what that if you don’t do every lift up and power move or push to go deeper that it isn’t good enough, but that’s a lie. It’s the same lie the majority of the world tells itself, that unless we are the best than we aren’t good enough. But let me tell you this, you’re good enough just as you are, and you should keep practicing, not because it’s a completion for the best pose, but because yoga really works. Even just five minutes on the mat has the potential to make a qualitative impact on your life. I could only practice lightly and gently today because I wasn’t feeling so well. Maybe the travel and jet lag caught up to me, maybe I just needed rest. There would have been a time when I would have judged myself so harshly for actually taking rest. But now, I’m in a different space, one that honors me for the whole being I am, one who knows my worthiness is not bought by some yoga poses I can or cannot do. I’m me, I’m here, I’ve got a heart full of love, and that is absolutely good enough. _ Day 5 #yogasoulrockandroll yoga challenge is Marichasana C. This is @timfeldmannyoga first yoga challenge. I had to jump in for my hubby 😘 Join his challenge if you’re not already! And then join me for #bestrongyogachallenge starting November 1st. _ Sunflowers are my design made by @liquidoactive and one my all-time favorites!
