what are fun beatles facts you’ve put in your fics
Hi anon!! Sorry for forgetting you!!! TBH maybe they're not as fun or not as much facts as I may have made them seem but here are a few from ILTY:
I point out in chapter 2 that George and John bought matching Gibson guitars (in 1962, following them earning the contract with EMI iirc; I didn't specify the date in the fic though)
Paul talks about when he uses the Höfner vs when he uses the Rickenbacker bass, saying the Höfner is good for live sounds because it's lighter. He says something like that in Get Back, I believe!
In chapter 3 when Cyn and John are looking through a scrapbook there aren't any wedding photos because there really weren't any! No photographer was present :(
I also reference this real letter John wrote to Cyn in chapter 3
also point out in that chapter that while John basically immediately married Cyn upon learning he had gotten her pregnant, Paul stalled with Dot up until her miscarriage and then broke off their engagement.
in chapter 4 I describe this weird trailer thing, which John really had in his garden though I've now learned he actually only acquired it a year later in 1967 so
This isn't historical but the bit in chapter 4 where I describe how John plays I Feel Fine is how you actually play the song lol. I didn't detail it much cause it's not very interesting, but I watched a tutorial for it and everything. I also did some rudimentary sitar + Indian classical music research for the relevant part in chapter 10. It's not directly mentioned in the text but I did my best to make sure I wasn't saying something outright wrong about the instruments basic function.
In chapter 5 I point out that John has a Stu painting in his house, which he really did IIRC
The idea that John may have recorded himself reading from Timothy Leary's book Book of the Dead and played it back while dropping acid it isn't one I made up but I believe it's from Goldman so. Grain of salt fun fact. (mentioned in chapters 4, 6 and 8)
From chapter 7: "They bloody invented automatic double-trackin’ just so Johnny could be here less." ATD was indeed developed by engineers at EMI studios because John found double tracking his vocals extremely annoying lmao.
there's some description in chapter 7 of stuff the Beach Boys and Beatles stole from each other that's to my knowledge accurate. also the song playing on the radio was in the charts the week the chapter takes place during, which I pointed out in the author's notes (I generally have kept track of the dates in my story)
Paul beginning to write Here, There and Everywhere, specifically the intro, right after listening to Pet Sounds is based on him saying the intro is inspired by God Only Knows (he starts writing the intro just after playing GOK in the story). He recalls writing the song at John's house, an he completes it in chapter 8, also at Kenwood, while waiting for John (this time simply to come down stairs rather than wake up) — this is less a fun fact but more my fun adaptation of true events.
I double checked this like three times when I wrote the chapter, but IIRC it's totally accurate that the band recorded brass for the first time one day after the Pet Sounds listening party (chapter 8)
I reference the horrible experience the band really had in February 64 at the English embassy in Washington DC in chapter 8, though the specific anecdote Paul recalls from that evening is entirely made up by me.
this is pretty well-known, but Isn't It A Pity was likely a Revolver-reject, which is why it's briefly considered for the album in chapter 8, given the circumstances
This is my own conjecture but I 100% believe that Day Tripper is about Paul and I made that canon at the end of chapter 8 lol.
This isn't exactly a fact but the questions asked in the Munich press conference in chapter 9 are for the most part similar to real questions they were asked. Including the weird one about participating in the Munich Olympics lmaooooo
Again more of an adaptation than a straight-up fact but John and Paul did visit the Grosse Freiheit when they were in Hamburg for that tour!
Also the geography described in Hamburg should be right, I used a map lol.
Paul DID change the I'll Follow The Sun lyrics!!!! Go listen to the quarrymen bootleg it's one of my favourite things I've used, that it used to be "Don't leave me alone"
Also they did get to play around with some Japanese instruments while in Tokyo and they're some of the softest pics of the band :) I did simplify the events a bit though
George was very worried about being arrested for drug possession when the band got separated from their luggage in Manila.
George did ask Ravi Shankar to take him on as his student in summer 66 but I don't know when exactly.
I think that's a fair amount lol hope these lived up to your expectations :(
#god this took wayyyyyyy too long#but its a good thing to look over my own story from back to front#(didnt READ the whole thing ofc just scrolled through everything)#ask#anon#fic

"This is nice," Myka says, sipping her beer while surveying the bar.
"Consuming alcohol in a public house?" Helena asks.
"Yeah," Myka says, eyes angling down as she picks at her label. "Working with Pete...this wasn't a thing I could do much. Then Steve and I had a drink here, and I remembered what it was like. I used to go on my own in DC just to unwind. Feels like a lifetime ago."
“In many ways it was," Helena says, idly stiring the ice left in her drink. "Could you ever have imagined the company you now keep?"
"I don't think so," Myka says, shifting closer to Helena. "But I like it, a lot. Doing this with you feels...normal. Two people, spending time together, not a care in the world."
"You care for nought?" Helena says, fingers tracing a line from Myka's thumb to her wrist where her hand rests on her thigh.
"Ok, one care," Myka says, eyes flicking up to meet Helena's. "Hey, I know that look. We said we'd stay for the band tonight, not just hole up in our room."
"Is there not another band tomorrow?"
"Yeah, but we said we'd stay for this one." Myka slips her hand from Helena's.
"As you wish," Helena says, settling back on her stool, frustration evident in her tone.
"More drinks, ladies?" the bartender says. "The band's about to start."
"I shall need one," Helena grouses.
"Stop being dramatic," Myka snips.
"Fine," Helena snaps. "Bourbon. Neat. Top shelf, please," she instructs the bartender.
"Comin' right up." The bartender steps away to complete the order.
"Oh, we're getting drunk now, are we?" Myka quips.
"When in Rome..."
"I'd actually like to see that, a drunk H.G. Wells," Myka says, poking Helena in the arm.
Helena flinches. "You may very well if you keep behaving as such."
"Seriously though, when's the last time you drank enough to let your guard down, even a little."
"In the company of others? Not in recent memory. And you?"
"Same."
"Here you go," the bartender interrupts, setting the tumbler on a napkin in front of Helena. "Another beer?" she asks Myka.
"You know what? I'll have the same." Myka waves her bottle at Helena's drink.
"Cavalier, Ms. Bering."
"We'll keep each other in check. We deserve to get super tipsy, at least."
"Color me intrigued."
The band strikes its first cord just as Myka's drink arrives. She tugs Helena's arm, and they relocate to a table near the stage.

The Adventures of Bering and Wells ("Warehouse 13" Season 5 replacement) Season 1: Episode 4 Title: New Orleans: Laissez les bon temps rouler!
Summary: Myka and Helena follow whim rather than duty, driving south, detouring around Washington DC, avoiding a second emotional rabbit hole so early on. After a wi-fi-free week in a cabin, deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains, they feel ready to tackle urban density again. ("The Rockies are better," Myka declares. "We'll go there, too.) Vowing to stay as touristy as possible, the pair head towards history-filled New Orleans. But far too soon their carefree trip hits a snag and they're in need of Warehouse help.
Previously: Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3
-----------------
***BONUS SCENE***
"Exactly how touristy have you been?" Abigail asks.
"Pretty touristy," Myka answers.
"Practically flâneurs," Helena says, grinning as Myka looks up at her with sparkly eyes.
"Well, that narrows it down," Steve mutters, typing into the keyboard. "Let's start with your hotel. Why'd you pick the carriage house?"
"The lack of adjoining suite and the king-sized bed."
"Helena!" Myka smacks Helena on the arm. "Because it's cute and charming."
"So this ghost isn't listed on their website? Wedding dress woman, Civil War soldier, dancing patio woman?" Steve asks.
"No. And the manager hadn't recognized the description I gave," Helena explains.
"So not all ghosts," Abigail says.
"If seeing them is normal," Myka says.
"Let's say the ones on their website are but H.G.'s isn't," Steve says.
"Are we to assume I've been 'whammied' then?" Helena says.
"You freeze in place. I have to shake you out of it," Myka explains.
"Perhaps I'm studying the phenomenon."
"You're never that still. It's creepy."
"Then I think we should consider it," Abigail says.
"Where else have you been?" Steve asks.
"Um, everywhere?" Myka answers. "That blacksmith's bar you and I went to. And The Gas and Lights Museum--"
"Such memories. So many details wrong," Helena gibes.
"On a carriage ride--"
"Highway robbery! Sixty-five dollars for a turn around the park. And not in the least authentic."
"You said it was nice!"
"I said it was familiar. The sound of it took me back," Helena says.
"I thought you'd like it." Myka leans back and looks up at Helena questioningly.
"I enjoyed the company quite thoroughly," Helena says, laying her hands on Myka's shoulders and grinning down at her fondly.
"Aww," Steve coos.
"Did anything about the carriage ride scream 'lady ghost will now appear at will?" Abigail asks.
"Not to my knowledge," Helena says.
"We also went to the Pharmacy Museum. And on a steamboat ride," Myka adds.
"Not that I'd have stepped foot on that death trap without proof of modern safety precautions. In my day, they exploded frequently," Helena explains.
"Ok...let's start with the Pharmacy Museum," Abigail says as Steve types. "Could this woman have afforded a doctor?"
"She often appears in her Sunday best, but also in, shall we say...less. She didn't strike me as particularly monied."
"Did she look sort of vampire-ish?" Steve asks. "I'm reading that people with consumption were rumored to be vampires due to how the disease aged them."
"I'm familiar with that premise, and no, this woman was not withering away."
"Could she have died on a steamboat?" Abigail asks.
"She doesn't give off that sense. There's a calm about her. She's not in danger."
"Let's try another angle. The neighborhood you're staying in, Storyville, claims to be the birthplace of jazz," Abigail says, reading over Steve's shoulder. "Maybe she's related to that?"
"Myka took me to hear this 'jazz,' and I can't say I was at all impressed."
"I like it. Steve does, too. You really hated it?" Myka asks.
"The bleat of the saxophone evokes vaudeville for me."
"Play her some Charlie Parker. Or John Coltrane. That might change her mind," Steve suggests.
"Does this relate to our ghost?" Abigail presses.
"I don't see a connection," Helena answers. "Her dress is previous to that of jazz, of an age closer to my own."
"Storyville was once a legal bordello district," Steve explains. "The whole neighborhood was shut down in 1917. So maybe she's from then?"
"That makes sense," Myka says.
"Do you see her inside or outside?" Abigail asks.
"Thus far, outside."
"But," Myka protests, "last night, when we were...t-the blindfold, you said 'just in case.'"
"Did that not heighten our activities?"
"That's not the point. I can't believe you--"
"Punish me later, darling--"
"Why don't you two hash this out, and we'll get back to you," Abigail suggests.
"Wait, is this her?" Steve asks.
Steve shares a black and white photo of a woman, seated outdoors, in front of a makeshift white backdrop, her hair styled into a modest, shoulder-length coif. Her linen top, trimmed with lace, hangs off one shoulder, and a string of pearls adorns her neck. Her lipstick, rendered as a middle grey, matches the kohl lining her eyes, giving her a soft, silent movie-era look.
"Hm, possibly."
"Here's another."
Helena leans further over Myka's shoulder, looking closely at the image. "Yes, I believe that is her."
"That's, um, really off the shoulder. Shoulders..." Myka says. "Isn't that kind of racy for the time?"
"Quite tame compared to some. Her expression is unusual, contemplative almost, recalling solemn greek statues rather than the usual fodder meant to titillate men's desires."
"How would you know?"
"One encounters all sorts of materials as a Warehouse agent," Helena says with a smirk.
"As an agent. Uh-huh."
"Listen to this," Steve interrupts, "these prints were made from a stash of glass negatives found locked in a desk drawer years after the photographer died. Many are of Adele, the woman you're seeing, but there are other women, too. They were shot in the 1910s, but these prints were made in the '60s. If there were any original prints, they were never found."
"May I see the images again?"
Steve cycles through and adds a few more, one depicting a roll-down desk with a shrine of photos arranged above, all of women, vignetted portraits and romantic depictions of the female form more typical for the time.
"Not sure if that last one is related. But it says it's by the same photographer."
"Could you send that one over? I'd like to look more closely."
"Sure."
Myka trades places with Helena, and Helena clicks the link. She enlarges the photo and inspects the array of images.
"I vaguely recall flicking through a basket in a shop with ephemera such as this. Perhaps this ghost woman was amongst it, but printed in a manner such as the images depicted here."
"So you're saying the photo in the shop might be a photo from this photo?"
"That is what I'm hypothesizing."
"So when you see her, you freeze like you're her photograph trapped in this photograph."
"Or perhaps I am her, caught in the decisive moment of the image being captured."
"That's really meta," Steve says.
"No matter what, neutralizing that photo should do the trick," Abigail suggests. "Heck, neutralize everything in the basket, just in case."
"Do you remember which shop you were in?" Steve asks.
"My recollection is hazy at best due to the copious amount of drink someone encouraged me to consume the evening previously."
Helena looks at Myka and scowls. Myka looks back, endearingly.
"I don't get hangovers."
"Lucky you," Helena quips.
"I hope you find it soon," Steve says, "because being happy looks good on both of you. You should get back to that."
"Thank you, Steve. And thank you, Abigail, for all your help," Helena says.
"Anytime," Abigail says.
"Have a great trip. Send some postcards!" Steve says.
"What a marvelous idea," Helena replies.
"Isn't flicking through postcards how we got here?" Myka warns.
"Shall you pre-screen everything I touch from now on?"
"Maybe I should--"
"We're hanging up now," Abigail says.
The screen goes blank as Myka and Helena devlove further into playful bickering.
*End Scene*
-TBC-
NOTES: "Laissez les bon temps rouler!" is Cajun French for "Let the good times roll." In season four, Steve and Myka go New Orleans and both say they like jazz, so I'm not making that up. I see Myka as more of fan of popular tunes - Billy Holiday, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, etc., whereas Steve would know the genre through and through (and try as he might, never gets Claudia quite on board with it all). The photographer is E. J. Bellocq - I was going to incorporate that more, but the politics behind photos I mentioned is...complicated. I want this B&W show to focus on our ladies journey, artifacts are side-plot motivations. But if you're interested, look him up, and I suggest reading both Susan Sontag and Nan Goldin's essays for some clarity on why the images hold the status they do. From the research I've done, his images are plastered all over Storyville businesses, so if you've been there, you've seen at least one. Oh and I had a roommate once who could drink anything and never got a hangover. Some people are lucky like that.

AURORA HART is a 35 year old FAE/WITCH HYBRID who looks a lot like TROIAN BELLISARIO. AURORA spends time at Traceless because SHE NEEDS A BREAK. SHE is known for DARKNESS MANIPULATION, SHIFTING INTO A BIRD, AN OBSESSION WITH SHINY THINGS.
Hometown: Seattle, Washington Current Residence: Spurlos/Traceless Abilities: Shifting - She can shift her form into a raven when needed. Though her natural, unglamoured form also has lots of feathers naturally. Darkness Manipulation - she can melt into the shadows and move silently in them.
Character Background:
Trigger warnings for: CHILD ABUSE, SELF HARM, HOMOPHOBIA, ABUSE, DEATH, DEATH THREATS, SUICIDE MENTION, MURDER
Aurora was born to a family of scientists and witches; If one wanted to know when the last time a direct relation to her WASN’T one of those two, you’d have to go back four generations. Richard Hart, NASA employee, was 25 years old when he met and married a congresswoman, Kenna Cooper a witch, who at first appeared to be a perfect and lovely woman. But perfection was an illusion and the perfect wife and mayor image shattered ten years after little Aurora was born when a man with unnatural eyes and feathers in his hair took a sledgehammer to the family’s reputation.
Rewinding a bit, Aurora was conceived when her father and mother had gotten into a bit of a tiff and he left her. They were “broken up” or “separated” as her mother likes to say, for about a week when she met Nicholas, or at least that was the name she was given. A one-night stand should have been just that but nine months later she was pushing out a child that she knew was not her husband’s but that man from the week they were broken up. Richard knew, deep down, that Aurora was not his child but he would never let that play a role in how he loved and cared for the little girl. It wasn’t her fault she existed….
The first ten years of Aurora’s life were picturesque, she had a loving doting father who worked in aerospace, a mother on the rise within politics, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who were in all realms of science and witchcraft who happily would teach her anything and everything… She was brought up to be a perfectionist. At 4 she was already starting to write full sentences, not in great handwriting but still! By 8 she was reading at a 7th-grade level. And by the age of 11, she was a certified genius. She was deemed a child prodigy when it came to academics, specifically those within the realm of politics and aerospace science having picked up those two the most from her parents despite their infrequent times at home.
Her father traveled to and from Florida for NASA for months at a time. While her mother had stepped up to the role of congresswoman and traveled to and from DC on a basically bi-weekly basis. She used her magic to help lift herself up and hide the truth around their house. But she hired a live-in-nanny was to be home with Aurora whenever the parents couldn’t be. Why hadn’t they just moved her? Aurora had no idea. She assumed it had to do with her mother’s role as a congresswoman, she still had to have a house in Portland, so why not keep your child there and away from you when you’re that busy? At least – that’s the reasoning Aurora came up with. Aurora had LOVED it when her father came home. He was so caring, so playful, and fun; his presence kept her mother at bay. Kept the house calm…. But those times only lasted for so long before he had to go back to Kennedy Space Center.
Her mother though? That was the opposite. Kenna being home meant life would be a bit of a hellscape; it meant screaming, yelling, and insults. It meant crying until no more tears could be produced, it meant pressure and guilt and hatred tossed in her direction if she so much as dared to disagree with the congresswoman. It meant being gaslit and lied to and disassociating… It meant self harm which led to her mother screaming at her for hurting herself and the image it put out in the world if anyone were to see the cuts. Which led to even more anger from her mother and the cycle continued. If her father wasn’t there to distract her mom then the only other reprieve was sleepovers with friends. Her mother always put on the face of the perfect loving mom if people were over. It was Aurora’s sanctuary because not even the nanny could stop Kenna’s rage.
Sleepovers kept her sane, kept her safe and things had been going surprisingly well in young Aurora’s life if you could ignore the abuse that Kenna lobbed at her on a bi-weekly basis. She was starting to think she could make it out of the house alive and without hating everything … when the worst happened. Her best friend came out and was promptly kicked out of her home. Aurora wanted to help her but she knew it wouldn’t end well and when her best friend showed up at her house her mother --- all hell broke loose in the house. She screamed and screamed about how Aurora could NOT have a gay best friend, that she could NOT hang out with that “degenerate” anymore. That she, well really, both of them, were pieces of shit, that she was going to hell. Aurora tried to stand up to her, to tell her that her best friend was a wonderful person, that she LOVED her best friend, and that her mother had no right to say any of that, especially not in front of her. This was when for the first time, Kenna slapped Aurora telling her that if she was anything like that f-word that she would not see the next day because no daughter of hers could be gay and that it would ruin her reputation as a congresswoman. Her best friend ran and Aurora tried to but there was no escaping Kenna at that moment.
It was the blood she touched on her cheek, the sound of the front door slamming behind her best friend, that finally shut down Aurora’s brain and let her just zone out as her mother continued to yell and scream. Kenna’s wedding ring had created a long cut along her cheek and despite seeing her daughter bleeding by her own hand Kenna didn’t stop yelling. It was three hours later before Kenna finally stopped and Aurora could take care of her cheek, by the blood had run down her face and scabbed over and a bruise had started to form. She took the next couple of days off school and avoided everyone. Or tired too, but she ended up getting yelled at each day by her mother, each time there was the threat that lingered over her head that something horrible would happen.
And then something did. Her best friend showed up dead in the news the day after she came out and left Aurora’s house. To this day Aurora doesn’t believe that it was suicide. She fully believes that someone killed her for seeing the abuse Aurora’s mother doled out. She believes her mother used her powers and killed her best friend. Aurora cried for three days straight afterwards which only caused her mother to rage more. Luckily for Aurora, her mother was called back to DC and she got a reprieve she got to grieve properly.
Her father finally learned the truth about what Kenna had been doing when he ran into a man, tall, brooding and looked exactly like a male version of his daughter…. The man pulled Richard to the side and told him a wild story that caused Richard to laugh in his face. There was no way his wife was abusive to their daughter, that his daughter was in pain or scared -- but when Nicholas pulled out photographic evidence… Well, Richard had no choice but to believe this stranger. He introduced himself as Nicholas, Aurora’s biological father and a fae. The two concocted a plan to pull their daughter out of the abusive home and get Kenna arrested. Richard came home the day after his wife left to see Aurora covering up a bruise on her shoulder. She was 16 years old but the aura she gave off in that moment when she thought she wasn’t being watched was that of a grown woman. A woman who had been through too much at such a young age. He demanded to know what happened – and she broke down. She told him everything, told him that if he didn’t believe her to call her old nanny that she would corroborate the story. That Kenna threatened her too and to not get mad at the nanny. She had done what she could to protect Aurora.
He of course knew that, but hearing his daughter break down and say it broke his heart in two. Kenna would be gone for two weeks and in those two weeks… Aurora’s life would be flipped on its head. She was woken up by her father with suitcases packed and another man… who looked just like her but with long pointed ears standing next to him. The three of them vanished into the night sending off video evidence of the abuse and chaos that had been Aurora’s life. When the world calmed down again and the traveling was over the three of them were in the north surrounded by mountains and woods.
Now in the north, and somewhere safe Nicholas explained to Aurora who he was. She had, had no idea that Richard wasn’t her father. She had known Kenna was a witch… she had always just thought she was a shit witch and that was one of the reasons her mother hated her…. She couldn’t do magic like she did… but in reality she just had a totally different form of magic. A totally different way of living. She was like her biological father. A Sylph. A fae of the wind and sky. Before she knew it she was learning how to properly use her powers, discovering how to go to the ethereal realm, she was finding out about a whole other side of herself that had been kept a dark secret for whole life. From the ages of 16 - 20 Aurora spent most of her time back and forth to the realm. She learned how to fight, how to defend, how to… kill. She learned all sorts of poisons and plants both human and ethereal. And at 17 she shifted for the first time into a large raven… her sylph form. Every sylph had a form that could fly, some were just small humans with little butterfly wings, others were like her, shifting into full animals. Hers was a beautiful large raven.
When she wasn’t learning how to be a fae she was learning how to play piano, how to sing and speak french. As she got older she made new friends, she learned to love the ethereal realm and the north. Slowly Aurora grew close to her biological father, and as she did so did her father… and soon… They were a proper family. Her fathers married and she started calling Nicholas papa. Richard was dad. The three of them were happy and far far away from Kenna’s control.
Aurora discovered her passion and her purpose when she found out what the fae side of her family did. They were private investigators and assassins. Aurora was going to use the skills her family had been teaching her to protect and defend others. She was clever, smart and rather good at her job. She would do hours of research into people and if she discovered abuse she would report it… though sometimes the abuse was just to much and … well then her skills as an assassin came in rather handy. Her kills left no trace, they seemed totally natural and normal. To any human doctor they would never know that the person was killed…. To some fae they could spot the signs, but even that had become harder as Aurora had gotten older and better at her job. She got the nickname wraith and reaper for how she killed, always in the dark, manipulating it around her to keep her hidden… and always in some way that seemed totally natural. If she was a bit more of a jokester she would wear a black hooded cloak and carry a scythe just to add to the illusion.
Now at 35 Aurora is taking a small break from her work to regather herself and take some down time away from all the death and destruction she seems to bring in her wake. She has bought a condo in Traceless and just moved in. She’s hoping that some of this down time will revitalize her… and maybe she’ll actually develop some friendships and who knows what else. Honestly right now… she just wants to take a breather.
