Renaissance meets Bear
Tumblr media
Alicent Brown: Alicent’s favorite place (other than the kitchen where she can usually be found baking up all kinds of new creations) is the oddball shop she works at just around the corner from their home, where she works alongside the shops aged and equally eccentric owner, Mr. Gruber.
Life recently took an exciting turn when, on the way home, Alicent and her family spotted a little brown bear at the train station. It didn’t take much convincing to take him back home. Paddington was his name. He loves to eat her various kitchen creations, and has made a wonderful addition to the family.
Tumblr media
Criston Brown: Criston never expected to have his life spun around when a little bear entered his family’s home. Though, with his wife Alicent, he should have learned that anything was possible. Life as a banker should have been a simple one, but with four children, a bear, and his colorful wife, life was never simple.
He has always tried to be the parent that kept the havoc of the house in order, but his family was far too exciting for such a thing. And that’s something he’s just fine with.
Tumblr media
Aegon Brown: Aegon loved nothing more than building rockets. Well, that and his family. He wants to go to space and see what the world looks like from way up above. Ignoring his father’s loving advice of “thinking safe”, Aegon likes to set his handmade rockets off outside, which then usually means that he will loose rocket making privileges for a little.
It’s an often sight to find Aegon and Paddington tinkering away at a rocket in the middle of the kitchen while Alicent bakes and the rest of the kids take part in their own hobbies.
Tumblr media
Helaena Brown: Helaena likes to call herself an explorer. Well, if going out to explore the city makes someone an explorer, than she is one. She likes to bring home pastries from the cafe she works at. She always makes sure to bring marmalade muffins for Paddington to eat. He adores them.
Paddington likes to join her on adventures and the two like to take breaks by eating at little hole-in-the-wall restaurants where they serve the best English food.
Tumblr media
Aemond Brown: Aemond loves to take pictures of just about anything. At the moment, he’s been making his family dress in odd costumes for a theme he likes to call “Renaissance meets Bear”. Alicent loves it, and Paddington does too because he gets to eat the little marmalade sandwiches she makes while they work.
The movie theater that he works at allows him to watch all of the films he loves. On special days, when Aegon and Paddington beg, he’ll play a movie of his family’s choice.
Tumblr media
Daeron Brown: Daeron, the youngest of the rowdy bunch, loves history and everything to do with it. He can usually be spotted hand in hand with Paddington as they walk around the large museums of London. His room is full of books that are stacked on top of one another. Don’t tell his dad that another stack fell down and broke his lamp.
He enjoys spending his time in the kitchen where most of his family is, and telling his family a new history fact that he and Paddington recently learned.

Having recently read a fanfic in which Sherlock and John catch trains to various parts of southern England exclusively from London’s Waterloo station, even when this is not the usual/logical route, I’d like to share this for writers who might not be familiar with the whole business of trains in/to/from London.
Tumblr media
Let’s start with the history of how and when rail services came to London. This article explains how and why we have so many terminal stations (short version: because when they were built, the railway companies were privately owned and all needed their own terminus in London).
The main terminal stations are Waterloo (south), Paddington (west), Euston (north-west), King’s Cross (north-east), St Pancras (East Midlands and Eurostar), Liverpool Street (east), Fenchurch Street (south-east) and Victoria (south). There are others (see the article linked above and my husband’s comment below).
As we know, within London and the suburbs, these termini are linked by the London Underground (aka The Tube) network. There is also the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) - a driverless system - and other overground rail services. Here is a map of it all from Transport of London (TfL). Baker Street is served by five tube lines: Bakerloo (brown), Metropolitan (maroon), Jubilee (silver), Circle (yellow), and Hammersmith & City (pink). It’s also only a five-minute walk from Marylebone (the nearest terminal) which itself is just behind the Landmark hotel, which we know as the exterior for The Restaurant Scene.
Tumblr media
Aside: I think Sherlock is unlikely to catch a bus unless directly related to a case - they’re just too slow for him. But you can find bus maps and all kinds of other TfL mappy delights here.
If you have characters using public transport in the UK, your best bets for accurate research are:
Google Maps (in public transport mode)
National Rail (see the page footer for all the useful stuff)
Transport for London
All these also have apps available.
I’m happy to do Sherlockian Britpicking (my day job is copy-editing) if that’s helpful for you.
If you want to go the full Howard Shilcott, I still very much enjoy reading the rail enthusiasts’ forums posts about the myriad tube-related continuity errors in TEH. I’ll let you Google those for yourself. 😉
———
Ran this past my husband (who is totally the full Howard Shilcott) and he made a few corrections (and a lot of faces!) before I posted: he wishes it to be known that he ‘remains unhappy about [my summary of] Fenchurch Street’ and thinks I should add Charing Cross to the list so people know how to get to Kent. So that’s all clear then. 😂

︵‿୨♡୧‿︵Self Insert Info. - Addie Gadhavi︵‿୨♡୧‿︵
Tumblr media
The 18-year-old daughter of Lao and Indian immigrants, Adelaide (Addie) has a strong interest in law, detective work as well as psychology. She's also at the top of her class, being at A-Level with perfect GSCEs. It's because of her academic achievements and the fact she's just become a legal adult that she sees herself as more mature than she truly is. Her family owns a small Lao-Indian restaurant in the Paddington area of London, though most of their money is only spent on rent and upkeep for the restaurant. Since Adelaide doesn't have much money herself, she's a bit of a pickpocket and has been since she was little. She also fears driving, not trusting herself behind the wheel.
She met the Doctor during one of her university tours while he was a professor and he was immediately charmed by her and her logical thinking at her age. Like Bill, he gains interest in her and offers to personally ease her into university himself. Throughout their time together, Adelaide takes note of some of the Doctor’s odd behaviors (especially him calling people “humans”) and uses her deduction and detective skills on him, eventually sneaking into the TARDIS and making him reveal his true identity as a Time Lord.
Tumblr media
︵‿୨♡୧‿︵ Relationship Information ︵‿୨♡୧‿︵
୨୧ | Love Languages
Doctor ~ Quality Time, Acts of Service, Words of Affirmation
Addie ~ Physical Touch, Words of Affirmation, Gift Giving
(may edit this later) ₊˚⊹♡
The Twelfth Doctor's affection towards Adelaide starts off as solely platonic since he's already married to River Song. Still, even before they began their romantic relationship, the Doctor was noticeably more affectionate towards Addie. He constantly praised her from the get-go, especially when she could figure out things Clara couldn't at first. His favorite things to call her are "remarkable", "marvelous", and "not an idiot".
They both know each other's boundaries very well and typically avoid PDA.
Adelaide can get jealous very easily, it's purely in her nature since she's always used to being "the only one" or "the best" (when it comes to academics, at least). Twelve may not realize when she is at first, but when he does, he always corrects himself and reassures Addie that nothing will come between them.

[ad_1] This lovely walk along Regent’s Canal is 4.5 miles and explores the most beautiful section of the waterway. The route passes Little Venice, Camden Market, and the regenerated King’s Cross area. Map and instructions included. LAST UPDATE: 6 Jan 2024 Anywhere We Roam is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support - Paul & Mark. Regent’s Canal cuts its way through the parks and varied urban architecture of northern London. A towpath runs along most of its route, allowing for a traffic-free walk to explore some of London’s finest neighbourhoods. We have designed a walk that covers the best sections of the canal. The regenerated areas of Paddington and Kings Cross bookend this walk. Along the way, it passes the mansions and narrowboats of Little Venice, the leafy banks and grand houses of Regent’s Park, and the stalls of Camden Market. Our Regent’s Canal walk can be completed in just over 2 hours. But if you spend a bit of time at the market and have lunch at one of the stalls, you’ll want to allow at least half a day. REGENT’S CANAL MERCHANT SQUARE ABOUT THE REGENT’S CANAL WALK Regent’s Canal connects the Grand Union Canal in the west with Limehouse Basin in the east. Sometimes a towpath runs along side it, at other times it dives into tunnels beneath the city. We have picked the prettiest section of the Regent’s Canal towpath and constructed a walk around it. It begins in Paddington and passes through Little Venice, Regent’s Park, Camden and ends at King’s Cross. The walk can be done any time of year but is prettiest in late spring when the parks are lush and green, and flowers dot the banks of the canal. MAP | REGENT’S CANAL WALK Use our map to navigate this Regent’s Canal Walk and make sure you don’t miss any of the sights. >> How to use this map / Click on the top left of the map to display the list of locations, then click on the locations to display further information. Click on the top right corner of the map to open a larger version in a new tab or the star to save to your Google Maps.   WHERE TO START We recommend starting at Edgware tube station (or Paddington Station) and finishing at King’s Cross/St. Pancras tube station. However, you could also do the walk in reverse. HOW LONG? The walk is 4.5 miles (7.3 kilometres) which would take just over 2 hours without stops. However, you’ll want to spend time exploring Camden Market and perhaps taking a detour onto Primrose Hill, so allow 3 – 4 hours. REGENT’S CANAL TOWPATH START | EDGEWARE RD TUBE STATION Edgware Road tube station has two exits – one for the Bakerloo Line and one for the Hammersmith, District, and Circle Lines. Whichever exit you use, make your way onto Praed Street (following the map above) and then turn right through a gap in the buildings to reach the canal. You could also start at Paddington Station, but you would miss the Merchant Square section unless you backtracked a little. MERCHANT SQUARE This end of the canal is called Merchant Square. This recently regenerated area is home to shiny office buildings and canal-side dining. Keep right and follow the north edge of the canal as it passes bars and restaurants, food vans and coffee shops, all set below the glass and steel architecture. Pass under a bridge, bend right around the corner, and then cross the canal on the second bridge – signposted to Paddington Station. // Regent’s Canal by boat As an alternative to walking our Regent’s Canal route, you can rent speed boats from GoBoat UK who are located near Rolling Bridge in Merchant Square. It’s a 2-hour round trip to Camden Lock and back. MERCHANT SQUARE PADDINGTON BASIN Once over the bridge turn right and follow the left bank of the canal. You are now in Paddington Basin where colourful narrowboats have set up restaurants on deck. Darcie Green serves a good brunch or lunch, and May Green supplies the artisan coffee. Both are lovely on a sunny day.
Passing under a couple of bridges, keep an eye out for the sculpture ‘Two Figures’ also called ‘Walking Man and Standing Man’ portraying two people about to meet. PADDINGTON BASIN LITTLE VENICE The walk bends left and widens into a triangular pool known as Little Venice. Thought to be named by Robert Browning (but no-one is quite sure), it is where the Grand Union Canal and Regent’s Canal meet. Narrowboats and day trippers drift past the facades of grand mansions. Swans and ducks plough the waters to Browning Island in the centre of the pool. Stop and peruse the second-hand books at the Waterside Café. After the café turn right over the bridge and right again to follow the Regent’s Canal towpath, now heading northeast (see map above). After passing under another bridge keep left, leaving the towpath and join Blomfield Road. At the end of the road, the canal disappears into a tunnel and goes underground. Cross over Edgware Road and continue along Aberdeen Place. As the road bends left, keep straight ahead, and go through a gap in the buildings, then descend a staircase back onto the towpath. In just a few hundred meters climb the stairs back up to the road, turn right over the bridge and then left again to join the Regent’s Canal towpath on the right-hand side of the canal. Shortly the towpath crosses a pedestrian bridge over the canal, passes colourful street art, and enters Regent’s Park. LITTLE VENICE REGENT’S PARK This is the most beautiful section of the walk. The canal sweeps gracefully between two leafy banks. Grand houses with landscaped gardens peer over the waters as willow trees drift in the breeze. To get a view over London, take the detour to Primrose Hill (marked in orange on the map above). A short climb to the summit brings views over the City and London Eye. Back on the towpath, the walk passes London Zoo. Look carefully and you can see monkeys in the Monkey Valley tent to your left, and perhaps African Wild Dogs on the far bank. REGENT’S CANAL REGENT’S CANAL PRIMROSE HILL CAMDEN MARKET At the striking red Feng Shang Princess restaurant, the path bends left under a bridge and leaves the grassy banks of Regent’s Park for the urban interior of Camden. Brick walls and the underside of bridges are packed with a mix of graffiti and street art. Local houses (with their own narrowboats) back onto the canal. The Regent’s Canal towpath soon reaches the black and white bridge at Camden Lock. From here Camden Market stretches either side of the canal. The largest (and in our opinion) most interesting market in London is well worth exploring. A melting pot of music, fashion, experiences and food, the market is split into 4 quarters: Camden Stables Market Camden Lock Market Camden Hawley Wharf Market Camden Buck Street Market Wind through the stalls and passages of Camden’s Stables Market (see map) and grab lunch in Camden Lock Market. When you’ve finished exploring, cross over Camden High Street and head through Camden Hawley Wharf market to re-join the Regent’s Canal towpath signed towards King’s Cross. CAMDEN MARKET COAL DROPS YARD After leaving Camden the crowds disappear as the walk winds between a mix of old and new architecture. Graffiti lines many of walls and hoardings until you reach the regenerated area of King’s Cross. Over the last 20 years an underused industrial site famed for prostitutes and drugs has been rejuvenated with new streets, squares, and parks. First up Gasholder’s Park has transformed two enormous gas cylinders into stylish accommodation. Next, Coal Drops Yard is packed with cool shops, good restaurants, and a mix of coffee shops and bars. Out the back of the yard is Lewis Cubitt Square. It has an outdoor photo collection and Lightroom Gallery which houses an intriguing mix of artist-led exhibitions. Finally, Granary Square is home to the popular Caravan restaurant and an array of dancing fountains. The steps down to the canal is a popular spot to sit on a sunny day.
COAL DROPS YARD KING’S CROSS Cross over the bridge (opposite Granary Square) and follow the pedestrianised footpath signed to King’s Cross Station. Harry Potter fans should make a detour into the station for the Harry Potter shop and platform 9 ¾. Architecture fans should head into St Pancras station to see the magnificent arches, architecture, and concourse of the Eurostar. Our Regent’s Canal walk ends at Kings Cross / St Pancras station. We hope you enjoyed it. PLATFORM 9 3/4 ST PANCRAS RENAISSANCE HOTEL ST PANCRAS STATION MORE LONDON SELF-GUIDED WALKING GUIDES Walking is a great way to see London. Here’s a list of some of our favourite walks in London. Also, check out all the fantastic day hikes near London and soak up some beautiful country landscapes. Christmas in London is the perfect time to get into the spirit of the season. Whether you are looking for a romantic escape or want to celebrate in style with friends and family, there is something for everyone in London this holiday season. Here are just some of our favourite things to do over Christmas:
Soak in London’s Christmas lights
London’s famous Christmas lights can be seen all over town, but some of our favourite spots include Regent Street and Oxford Street. For those who don’t want crowds or long lines, Westminster Abbey is another great option as it has been decorated with festive greenery since 1897. You can also enjoy the festive sparkle on Christmas Lights London by Night Bus Tour. Tickets are available for £24 for adults and £13 for children. The bus ride is free for children aged up to four years.
Christmas at Kew Gardens
Kew Gardens is one of the most beautiful places to visit in London during Christmas. The gardens are decorated with thousands of lights and decorations, which makes it look like you are in a fairy tale world. There is also a Christmas market and food stalls where you can buy gifts from local vendors. You can also see the gardens lit up at night, which makes them even more magical. There are special events and activities throughout the festive period, so check out what’s on at Key Gardens website.
Ice skating at Somerset House
If you want to catch some winter air, Somerset House is the perfect spot. Skating at Somerset House with Moët & Chandon returns, promising a spectacular season of celebration in the heart of London. There are cafes inside Somerset House as well as outside on its grounds. You could even get out of the cold by going for a drink at one of the bars or restaurants. Needless to say, there is no better way to spend Christmas Eve than with friends who love ice skating.
The Nutcracker at London Coliseum
The Nutcracker on Ice is a spectacular show that will delight you and your family. It is a true Christmas classic, a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Over 100 dancers and musicians bring Nutcracker to life with exquisite dancing and beautiful sets. The audience loves it because they get what they came for – spectacular entertainment. Check out their 2022 programme on their official website.
Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park

Discovering London's Hidden Oasis: The Charm of Little Venice
Tumblr media
Hello, my fellow adventurers!
Today, we're escaping the hustle and bustle of London's busy streets and diving into a serene, picturesque corner of the city: Little Venice. A tranquil canal area, nestled in the heart of the city, Little Venice is a delightful escape that offers a unique perspective on the capital. If you're looking for a peaceful yet exciting side trip in London, or a delightful afternoon stroll, this little gem is waiting for you.
Little Venice: A Slice of Serenity in London
Located just north of Paddington, Little Venice is a charming network of waterways where the Grand Union and Regent’s Canals meet. The area got its name due to its striking resemblance to the famous Italian city, complete with pretty waterways, colourful narrowboats, and beautiful Victorian homes.
Cafes, Pubs, and Restaurants
One of the joys of Little Venice is the array of waterside cafes, quaint pubs, and restaurants lining the canals. There's nothing quite like enjoying a hearty meal or sipping a cup of tea while watching the narrowboats drift by. The Summerhouse and The Waterway are popular spots that offer fantastic canal-side dining experiences.
Canal Boat Trips
For a truly immersive experience, hop aboard a canal boat. Companies like the London Waterbus offer leisurely cruises from Little Venice to Camden Lock. It's a perfect way to soak in the picturesque scenery, and who knows, you might even spot some local wildlife!
The Puppet Theatre Barge
Adding to the charm of Little Venice is the Puppet Theatre Barge. It’s a unique floating theatre that showcases marionette puppet shows, bringing a touch of magic to the canal. The performances here are enchanting for both children and adults, making it an excellent option for families.
A Stroll along the Towpath
For those who prefer a tranquil walk, the canal towpath offers a peaceful route through London's greener side, leading to spots like Regent’s Park and ZSL London Zoo. It’s also a popular spot for joggers and cyclists.
Final Thoughts
Tucked away from the city's skyscrapers and crowded streets, Little Venice is one of London's best-kept secrets. It's a pocket of tranquillity where you can unwind, indulge in delightful dining, take a scenic boat trip, or simply enjoy a leisurely walk.
So, whether you're planning your first London visit or you’re a local in search of new experiences, make sure to carve out a day for Little Venice. The peaceful ambience, scenic views, and charming attractions make it a must-visit London spot.
Until our next adventure, enjoy every moment and keep exploring the world’s hidden gems!
Cheers, and happy wandering!

Spending The Day In South Kensington, London
Tumblr media
London has many fantastic areas, all of which seem to offer something different. You can enter different parts of the city and discover completely different things- Camden offers amazing youth and counterculture, Soho has high end shops and bars and Brixton has incredible live music.
South Kensington offers an excellent mix of experiences for tourists and locals alike. You can take a stroll in nature, visit a world class exhibition, dine in a Michelin starred restaurant and shop till you drop- all in one area!
Make the most of your stay at The Chilworth London, Paddington by taking advantage of the amazing location and exploring the local area- but don’t forget to head back to enjoy the best afternoon tea near Paddington Station at your hotel!
Here is a quick guide to South Kensington and everything it offers!
Kensington High Street
Apart from just being a pleasure to stroll down, Kensington High Street has a lot to offer. Amazing shopping with international fashion brands, great food and a tonne of interesting and unique boutique shops.
You could spend the afternoon sampling fine organic foods, hitting the shops and maybe grabbing a coffee in one of the fantastic coffee houses.
The Museums
London is world renowned for its fantastic museums, and three of the city’s heavy hitters can be found in South Kensington.
The V&A
Otherwise known as the Victoria & Albert museum, this collection is incredibly eclectic and has something for pretty much everyone.
Displaying arts, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, clothing, sculpture and a lot more; all covering 3,000 years of human culture, design and artistry.
There is no other collection as eclectic or complete anywhere on earth.
The Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum is a family favourite, and well, pretty much one of the best museums in the city.
Come face to face with a terrifying T-Rex, experience the power of an earthquake and discover nature’s lost creatures in this stunning collection celebrating the history of the natural world.
The science Museum
The science Museum is a great place to take young kids, although it would be crazy to say that this is not a great place for people of all ages.
Get hands on with science, learn about the universe and discover the building blocks of life. This place will blow your mind and get you involved in the action!
The Royal Albert Hall
The Royal Albert Hall is one of the city’s most iconic buildings- and one of the key locations for live music, sport and entertainment in the UK.
Architecturally speaking this building is a marvel. It holds one of the largest glass domes in the world, clocking in at an incredible 620 tonnes. Not only that, it also offers perfect acoustics inside the building.
Catch some live comedy, the BBC proms or even a game of tennis at this incredible venue.
A Day in South Kensington
South Kensington has plenty to offer, and is absolutely one of London’s most beautiful destinations. If you don’t believe me, just visit one of the two Royal parks that border the area; Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.
Once you’ve explored this magnificent area you’ll be ready for a visit to the best spa near Paddington, at your hotel; The Chilworth. Then you’ll have the pick of the most fantastic restaurants Paddington, London has to offer for a spot of dinner.

London Calling
an:Hey y'all! I'm back from hiatus and I have a new Spencer fic for y'all. This is the sixth installment of the Happily Ever After series for Spencer. As always, hope y'all enjoy!

summary:"In London, everyone is different, and that means anyone can fit in." - Paddington Bear
masterpost|taglist|have an idea
You and Spencer had been celebrating all the milestones in your relationship, big or small.
For the pair of you, this was a big step in the relationship. You were going on your first vacation together. It was going to be a short trip, just a two-day trip to London. Which, according to Spencer, was enough time to see all the 'important sights.' He had taken the reins on planning this trip, so at this point, you were just along for the ride.
You got to the airport at noon, three hours before your flight, which you preferred. The plane took off at 3pm from Norfolk airport, which got you to the UK at 8:30 am. You had only one layover at O'Hare, which was just complete craziness. Because of his eidetic memory, Spencer had been in charge of the itinerary, the obvious—being that he was the one who planned the trip. So the first stop was the hotel to check-in, drop off your bags and freshen up before exploring the city.
Your first tourist spot was Hyde park for an hour. And then, an hour later, you watched the chaining of the guard at Buckingham Palace followed by a visit to St. James park. Afterwards, you and Spencer visited Westminster Abbey. You spent a lot of time there since Spencer had booked the hidden highlights tour. As you walked around, you were admiring the beautiful stained glass. Next, you crossed the street and saw the house of Parliament as well as Big Ben, which was not the photo opportunity you were hoping for but still amazing enough to cross off your list.
Lunch was at a swanky Indian restaurant, the Cinnamon Club. Then you were back to doing touristy things. First on the agenda was Trafalgar Square which was bustling with people, and then you moved on to the National Gallery. Which took a few hours but was completely worth it as you walked past masterpiece after masterpiece. Next was a romantic ride on the London Eye, the sun was setting, but it hadn't got cold yet. Before dinner, you visited the Piccadilly Circus, similar but not as grand as Times Square and Leicester Square. You stopped back at the hotel to change into something a little fancier before heading off to dinner. You went to Bob Bob Ricard and had a fantastic dinner with cocktails. And then you and Spencer had some cocktails at Mark's bar to end off the night.
The following day you had a bit of a sleep-in before getting a start on the day. Over a light breakfast, Spencer briefly told you the plan for the day. It was busy. Starting at 9am, together you visited the Tower of London, coffee in hand. Spencer told you all sorts of historical trivia before you moved on to the London Bridge. Of course, the bridge came with trivia of its own. You paid a quick visit to the Shard, which Spencer told you was the tallest building in London, before heading to the Borough Market for brunch.
Spencer's itinerary for your second day brought you to two museums. The first stop was the Tate Modern, London's modern art museum. It was amazing. The museum was full of contemporary artists such as; Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and, Mark Rothko. For each piece of art, Spencer was prepared with facts about the painting and the artist. After a few hours at the museum, it was time for the next stop. St. Pauls Cathedral.
You walked across Millennium bridge to get there. The architecture was beautiful, and the entry fee you had paid was completely worth it to see the inside. The second museum was the V&A museum, with a vast collection of the best art and design in the world. It was definitely not made for kids but so enjoyable for the two of you.
The last tourist attraction was Kensington Palace & Kensington Gardens; this was only a quick visit since it closed at 6pm. To mark the end of your trip, you had dinner at a well-known pub. Churchill Arms, known for its wide selection of ale and its surprisingly good Thai food. You and Spencer took your time enjoying your last meal in London before getting ready to head home.
You hailed a cab fairly quickly and piled into the backseat. Unfortunately, traffic was insane, and even though your cabbie navigated it fairly easily, you still got stuck. It took longer than you anticipated to get to the airport, but that only added to the adventure, so you weren't worried. Spencer, on the other hand, was slightly freaking out. You knew how much he hated being late, so slowly, you reached out your hand and placed it over his. When he didn't flinch away, you knew it was okay to leave it there. Over the next few minutes, his breathing slowed down, and he was back to normal.
Upon arrival at the airport, you discovered that your plane was delayed. At the news, Spencer's shoulders became less tense and his posture less rigid. Security was too bad, for the most part. The line was really long, but the process went quick. You and Spencer headed to the airport bar for a drink before the flight. You sat together at the bar, just chatting softly, which was a stark contrast to the boisterous people in the airport. A surprising number for being so late at night.
You and Spencer boarded the plane. He had the aisle, and you were in the middle. Nobody was sitting beside you, and you loved it. Your flight took off, and Spencer lifted the armrest separating you and then leaned on your shoulder. You placed a soft kiss on his head, followed by a whispered 'I love you' before settling into your seat. As his breathing evened out and he fell asleep, you started to do the same. All you could think about was how much you loved him. He put so much effort into the which was two days, primarily because of your schedule, and he made it the best trip you'd ever been on.

Planning a Memorable Stay with Kids in Central London
Planning a family holiday to London this summer? Brimming with intriguing historical landmarks and immersive experiences for all ages, the city is a wonderful choice for those travelling with toddlers, tweens, and teens alike. This guide will help you decide how to spend your time while staying at one of the best family hotels near Central London.
Best hotels near Central London for kids
The family-friendly hotels near Central London are located in the West End. Check out hotels close to Hyde Park and Paddington Station. This is a quiet and walkable neighbourhood with excellent dining and transport amenities to suit families.
Things to do with kids in Central London
Board the train at the Postal Museum
The star of this exciting museum is the Mail Rail. You’ll board a train carriage and journey through unknown tunnels beneath the city. This railway was originally used to transfer letters to and from the sorting office in Clerkenwell. The rest of the exhibition is cleverly curated but kids love the train ride element.
Be a Junior Keeper for a Day at London Zoo
Visiting ZSL London Zoo is one of the coolest things to do as a family in the city. However, you can give children an even more memorable experience by signing them up for this special experience. Children aged 11-15 years old can spend a whole morning learning about conservation and going behind the scenes. It’s educational, immersive, and excellent fun.
Pose for photos at the Platform 9 ¾
All children (and adults) have been enchanted by the Harry Potter series over the years. Swing by King’s Cross Station and you can pose for photos at the mystical portal that leads to the Hogwarts Express. It’s free to take photos with your own devices but you can also pay for a professional souvenir.
Climb the Monument to the Great Fire of London
Not everyone is aware but the Monument to the Great Fire in the City of London is open to the public. You can walk up the spiral staircase to the viewing platform for fantastic views. Children will love the adventure and will be worn out by the time you return to your hotel near Central London.
Ride the Slide in the Olympic Park
The ArcelorMittal Orbit at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London is the world’s tallest and longest slide. Children aged eight and over may ride the slide subject to meeting the minimum height of 1.3 metres. It’s an adrenaline activity that will leave them breathless in more ways than one!
Explore Bankside
Part of the London Borough of Southwark, Bankside is a historic and atmospheric neighbourhood overlooking the River Thames. Children can choose between visiting the eerie Clink Prison Museum for gruesome mediaeval tales or hopping aboard the Golden Hinde –  a replica of Sir Francis Drake’s ship. If they’re studying Shakespeare at school, they may be impressed to tour the Globe Theatre. This part of London has lots of tempting pubs and restaurants with a family-friendly vibe.
