THINNING ABOUT LLEU AND DYLAN AGAIN. Thinking about them as twins, as doubles, as siblings who grew up apart from one another but always knew where the other one was. Cleft in twain but completely whole.

Also, when Dylan dies, the waves grieve. And the sun also darkens. Clouds devour it whole for three nights so Lleu can grieve. The waves clamour. Lleu says, "Take me to my brother. Take me to my blood."

So they do.

Dylan's blood mars the beach, the shore, the shoals, dull, spatters of coral, and Lleu says "I'll bury him." He sets about performing the rites, ones of bladderwrack and dulse, of swellies and sea air.

Once it's done - when his brother is nothing other than sea foam, brought home again by tides and tears, and their mother's moon pierces through the clouds, spear-sharp and sure, fracturing across the waves in a thousand shards of iron ore - Lleu swears, "I will avenge him."
