CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS 101: A FULL LESSON ON THE SERIES AS A WHOLE AND THE IDENTITY IMPLICATIONS IT PRESENTS
for @basilthesnakingthing's own enjoyment
quick disclaimer that I have not read the books in a few years, but I did rewatch the film this morning and as I write this, the Netflix TV series is playing in the background. my knowledge is not perfect and I may have a few details off, but this has been written to the best of my ability.
basic knowledge about the series:
cu was originally a series of twelve epic novels written by Dav Pilkey. it centres around two American fourth grade boys, George Beard (the kid on the left with the tie and the flat top) and Harold Hutchins (the kid on the right with the t-shirt and the bad haircut. remember that now).
the two of them have been best friends forever and create many comics in George's tree house in their spare time, the most relevant of these comics being of Captain Underpants, a superhero whom they invented because so many superheroes look like they're flying around in their underwear. he's faster than a speeding waistband, more powerful than boxer shorts, and able to leap tall buildings without getting a wedgie, (yes this is a quote from the actual series) and has the catchphrase "Tra-La-La". like his name suggests, he wears underwear, and in addition to that, a red cape with polka dots. he is also bald.
the boys' main concern in life is their school principal, Mr Benjamin Krupp (egg /aff). Mr Krupp is a grouchy toupee-wearing child-hating curmudgeon (who, at least in the film, literally lives on Curmudgeon Boulevard). Mr Krupp's mission in life is to make his students, especially George and Harold, as miserable as possible.
the series of events that leads to the main plot differs between the books and the film (with the origin skipped altogether in the tv series), but the basic gist is that the boys end up in a situation where they are at the complete mercy of Mr Krupp, and they are not happy. this is where the 3D Hypno Ring comes in. the 3D Hypno Ring, in the book, was manufactured by Li'l Wiseguy Novelty Company and acquired by George through online order; in the film, it was acquired by George as a toy from a cereal box. either way, it is in George's possession, and as a last-ditch attempt at stopping Mr Krupp, the boys hypnotise him into thinking he is, in fact, Captain Underpants.
the swap between Mr Krupp and Captain Underpants is triggered by two separate events: in order to turn Krupp into Cap, one must snap their fingers. so, literally any time Krupp hears finger-snapping, he turns into Cap. in order to turn Cap into Krupp, he needs his head to get wet. it's not fully clear how wet his head needs to be in order to swap back, but if Krupp's head is wet without a way to dry it, he cannot be turned into Cap, as the water counteracts the snapping. in the same vein, if Krupp cannot hear the snap, he cannot be turned into Cap.
Cap, although he means well, is not exactly the most intelligent of people, and usually ends up causing more trouble than he causes. we love him for this. although he starts out a normal man with normal man abilities, he does eventually gain superpowers. in the third book, he drinks alien extra-strength super power juice, which gives him superhuman strength, durability and flight abilities. in the film, he falls into a giant radioactive toilet and acquires powers from the horrible toxic waste within - these powers are the same as in the books, but with the addition of unlimited underwear. the show, once again, does not show this origin, however, it's implied that the Cap of this timeline also drank alien superpower juice.
the books and show usually go on with a base plotline of George and Harold make a comic, and somehow (usually due to some sort of prank they pull, often with the aid of one of Melvin's inventions), the monstrous, potty-humour themed villain of the comic comes to life. Jerome Horowitz Elementary will never know a day of peace again.
and yeah, there you have the basic gist of Captain Underpants lore! I've skipped out on many other characters and plot points that aren't too relevant to what I want to talk about, so I'll just move on now.
KRUPP, CAP, AND MY THOUGHTS:
so, Krupp and Cap are the same person. neither of them know this, of course; Krupp, whenever he hears the snapping of fingers, essentially blacks out until he comes to, all wet and in his underwear. he is not having a fun time of it, as his memory is basically Swiss Cheese and odd things keep happening at his school, which he continuously misses. his swap back from Cap to Krupp is usually accompanied by dialogue such as "where am I?! what's going on?! where are my pants?!" etc., etc. he doesn't even know that 'Captain Underpants' exists in real life. meanwhile Cap doesn't really know Krupp exists either. in the film, he believes that 'Principal Krupp' is his alter ego, a secret identity of sorts who isn't actually real. in all of the media, though, he doesn't really question what happens between fights or even acknowledge his gaps in memory - he sort of just jumps into whatever situation he finds awakens to without really needing to orientate himself.
of course, all three sets of media are geared towards a rather young audience, so we don't really see any exploration of the consequences of Krupp and Cap technically being the same person within canon. well, that's what fanon is for!
I like to think that Krupp notices the missing time and starts worrying. I love the angst potential of not knowing what he's lost, not understanding why so many things happen at the school he runs that he just... never sees. do you know how much property damage is done to that place, and he has no idea what caused it? it's such a good way to both look at how Krupp sees himself, how he acts outside of tormenting children, what he cares about, and y'know. putting the egg through the ol' ringer (if you can't tell, Krupp is my favourite character). in canon, he already expresses distress about the lost time, even if it's just for a few moments per book/episode.
Cap, meanwhile, lives his life like it's a comic book, because in his mind, life is kind of a comic book to him. he's a superhero! he fights crime! he saves the day! anything between that is just filler, and who pays attention to filler anyway?
of course, the identity issues would probably truly come to a head whenever the two find out about each other. once again, this sort of thing never happens in canon, but it's been explored plenty in the fandom! my personal favourite example of this is the @cu-stickynotes-au, which I highly recommend checking out.
also, bringing George and Harold back into this (as I ought to, they are the protagonists), the fact that two ten-year-old boys LITERALLY MIND-CONTROLLED THEIR PRINCIPAL IN ORDER TO HAVE NO CONSEQUENCES TO THEIR ACTIONS IS INSANE. yes, they are both children and they don't fully understand the scope of their actions, but also. holy what. I just think it's so interesting to have this man whose life has been permanently altered and who is also two men in one body with serious identity issues oncoming, and it's all because of these two random children. that is insane.
when considering Krupp and Cap as a unit, the main question I often ponder is this: are Krupp and Cap the same person? bodily, yes. but mentally? eh, who knows? in my mind, 'Captain Underpants' is still technically a two-dimensional character made by ten-year-old boys. however, Cap is now a three-dimensional person. I think at least subconsciously, he's definitely influenced by Krupp, and vice versa. Krupp and Cap are very much opposites: Mean Ol' Principal Krupp, who hates children and anything fun, who is grounded in pessimism and reality, and Captain Underpants, who loves children, adores potty humour and laughter, and who is not only an optimist, but is fully the opposite of grounded. he can literally fly! whether they're the same person is ambiguous to me, but I like to think that there's some mental connection. plus, if you want to pull in some real world facts about hypnosis - it doesn't really work unless your at least partially open to suggestion (at least I think, I'm admittedly not at all knowledgeable in hypnosis). so there's my thoughts on that question.
this post took me five episodes of the CU Netflix series to write. that is insane. I could probably expand more upon these thoughts, but frankly, I'm really tired and I don't feel like it right now. I would rather continue watching fun little show. also, sorry if some of this doesn't make sense, I read the books in English, watched the show in French, and have seen the film in both, so I had to do some mental translation for a few of these sentences. hope this helped explain the pattern between my interests through my life, Basil!
#captain underpants#dav pilkey#george and harold#george beard#harold hutchins#benjamin krupp#mr krupp#principal krupp#this took so long to write#and also wow this is insanely long i'm sorry#there are probably things i've missed#but it's fiiiiiine

Teddy Ruxpin (1984) by Ken Forsse, Alchemy, distributed by Worlds of Wonder (WoW). Teddy Ruxpin was launched in 1985 by toy manufacturer Worlds of Wonder, becoming one of the best-selling toys of 1985/86. Ken Forsse was an Imagineer who helped design many of Disneyland's animatronic attractions. Forsse and his team at Alchemy managed to adapt theme-park technology to create the world's first animated talking toy. Alchemy was founded in 1980 by Ken Forsse, and Teddy Ruxpin became the launch product for Worlds of Wonder (WoW), founded in 1985 by former Atari sales president Don Kingsborough, and former Atari employee Mark Robert Goldberg.
Teddy's mouth and eyes move while it tells stories from a built-in audio tape cassette deck. Conventional cassette tapes carry two audio tracks for stereo sound reproduction. Teddy Ruxpin's cassettes use the left track for audio, while the right data-track controls the three servo motors: 1 for the eyes, 1 for the upper mouth and one for the lower jaw. The original Teddy Ruxpin uses Pulse Position Modulation (PPM), where the pulse position in time is proportional to the amplitude of the control signal.
"Seeing something that I had created become as successful as Teddy Ruxpin was incredible. There is a long list of wonderful memories: watching so many talented people at Alchemy working on and adding to my creation; realizing that companies in Silicon Valley, Canada and many Asian countries were building a toy I had designed; witnessing the birth of a new toy category, (Electronic Plush); watching television commercials and segments on news broadcasts describing Teddy Ruxpin. The most humbling experience was reading the many letters describing the reaction of children in all parts of the country to Teddy Ruxpin. There was a letter about a child who lapsed in and out of a coma and could only be awakened when Teddy Ruxpin sang to her." – Interview with Teddy Ruxpin Creator Ken Forsse, Teddy Ruxpin Online.

The “True Sensation” dildo is a fleshy, silicone tool that measures exactly 7 inches and has the ability to vibrate (three different frequencies), thrust (seven different speeds), and self-heat (up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit). It’s just like the real thing, James Guo, the founder of Our Erotic Journey, assures me from his office in Irvine, California. Best of all—everything is controlled through the app AMZ.
“It connects to someone that’s oceans away,” he says of its potential for creating all kinds of sexual fantasies. Teasingly, he adds: “There’s also music that can match the intensity of the vibration.”
True Sensation is just one offering featured among the wide inventory of Our Erotic Journey, the sex toy brand Guo launched in 2019. Its online store, which boasts more than 200 products, is a pleasure chest of sexual self-amusement. Take your pick: There’s the lipstick-shaped vibrator, a remote-controlled rotating butt plug, various cock rings, something called the “Gravity Rocket” (a clitoral suction vibrator with seven massage modes), and a smattering of glow-in-the-dark accessories. “Those are for the ravers,” Guo jokes.
The sex tech market is estimated to triple by 2030, exceeding $100 billion globally in sales. The demand for products, from AI-assisted companions and personal wand massagers to sexual wellness apps, sits at an all-time high. At a moment when industry trends favor artificial intelligence and remote sex exploration, Guo just wants to make eccentric, high-quality vibrators. He’s betting big on toys.
In the years since launch, Guo has built Our Erotic Journey into a quietly influential brand through intentionally whimsical designs and an insistence on quality products. “I know production,” Guo says. His family, he tells me, owns an auto-parts factory in China, and what he learned from the business—how the factory system runs, the science of machines, what style of packaging attracts customers—he leveraged for OEJ.
Guo admits that the initial product line—about 20 toys, of which the Sec Duo vibrator for couples remains a company best-seller—was devised to “fit the market.” “We self developed the first batch through modding, R&D, scaling, all that stuff,” he says. “Everything since that represents more of who we are.”
That’s how OEJ’s six themed collections came to be. The Cristal collection is for glass toys while the Space, Thrillz, and Lit collections are for truly uninhibited pleasure seekers (one features a dildo called “The Girthquake,” that exploits a specific, if sometimes worn out, racial fantasy).
But where Guo, who is 35, sometimes falls short in imagination, he more than makes up for in vigilance. “Users expect and deserve products that meet stringent safety standards, and any deviation can damage a brand’s reputation irrevocably,” he posted in an XBIZ editorial in September. “Partner with trusted white-label manufacturers rather than gamble on the unknowns.”
When I ask Guo about the editorial, he stresses that the success of sex tech is determined as much by the innovation involved in the products as the quality. “We want to be more of a bridge from human to human,” Guo says, “not just from toy to human.”
Even with promising market projections—another estimate goes so far as to predict sales could surpass $121 billion by 2030—industry analysts are not convinced that the future of sex tech is in toys.
It’s a “very oversaturated market that is now avoided by many,” says Olena Petrosyuk, a partner at the consulting firm Waveup. This year, she adds, investors “are looking away from ‘commoditized’ trends”—sex toys, but also sex content and social platforms. “Many failed to prove the economics and scale. The category is still fairly stigmatized,” she says. “OnlyFans being a massive exception.”
So what do consumers want? Petrosyuk says wellness, AI, and immersive realities are hot right now. “Practically every new sex tech startup is thinking in terms of AI use cases,” she says. “If it’s AI toys—companies are looking into how they can anticipate and respond to the user’s needs. If it’s robotics—we see companies looking into sex bots. If it’s content—it’s hyperpersonalized sex personas.”
Guo tells me he is not phased by talk of AI sex robots—“a low-volume business,” in his estimation—because many people cannot afford the high price tag. Continued success, he believes, is will come by expanding on the company’s themed collections. OEJ works directly with US and Canadian distributors; it is not a direct-to-consumer business, though he says customers do occasionally order via the online store.
Although ecommerce is the industry standard in retail and electronics, taking more of an old-school approach works for Guo. Next year, OEJ plans to launch a Zodiac collection, crafting 12 unique toys for each astrological sign. It’s an appeal to the Co–Star fanatics of Gen Z. “Every generation is different,” he says.
The company’s mostly nonexistent social media presence only seems to add to their Wonka-like mystery. “We’re just bad at it,” Jerry Chen, an operations assistant, says. “We’re really focused on production.”
For now, that business model seems to be a hit. Our Erotic Journey recently won the “Best Pleasure Product Manufacturer—Small” prize at the 2023–2024 AVN Awards in Las Vegas, a litmus test for newbie brands in the adult content world. OEJ also received the O Award for Outstanding New Product for “Sexy Pot,” Guo’s marijuana-leaf-shaped vibrator, a customer favorite.
Clearly wanting to capitalize on its unexpected success, Guo says, “It’s time we gave it a sister or brother.”

a guide for where to buy OFFICIAL anime merch and not over pay
Fun fact! Most US retailers actually up charge a ton, mainly figures; especially stores like Target or major retailers. So overall, the main rule of thumb is to not buy in person; even places like BookOff overcharge on lots of stuff. For example I saw a pop-up parade figure for 70 USD. Which is actually insane, as the pop-up parade is advertised as low-budget by GSC (good smile company) the manufacturer. So, now you are stuck looking online; but how can you tell which sites are legit? (Unless if it’s a store like GameStop, or even Michael’s…? I actually found some prize figures at a reasonable prices; but it was a small amount)
If you are looking for figures from GCS you can visit their global website, you could also use their US site; as it will have seasonal sales (4th of July and Hoilday events) but shipping will be more expensive; I’m not sure why, but the global sites shipping is cheaper for scale figures.
US site> https://www.goodsmileus.com/index.php?route=common/home
Global site > https://www.goodsmile.com/en
For more website; good smile also lists there official retailers, so you know they are legit.
link to official retailers> https://partner.goodsmile.info/support/eng/partnershops/
And here are some other good stores:
Amiami had figures and posters and even pins bags etc; they even have a section to buy pre-owned figures. But pricey shipping; as they are established in Japan.
if you are looking for rare figures or, retro merch Mandrake is the best option!
If you are just in the US or looking for lamps; crunchy roll has some good options too! And they merged with a manga store, so they have some of that too.
And, Amazon Japan is the GOAT when it come to merch! (Amazon US can be used; but don’t expect to find any deals; and always check the seller as well, and expect to find bootlegs.)

A ruse
When it comes to the figure of Taylor Swift and the popularity she enjoys among many, if not all or even most, women and many people in general, she tends to put on a front whether in public or online in some way. Her public image is that of the girl next door, someone who's supposed to be the everywoman.
I guess this was particularly true when she was starting out as a young woman, especially when popstars of the day were overtly sexualised. She was kind of refreshing in those days, since she never seemed so manufactured and sexualised like them. This endeared her to many people when you think about it.
Yet when it comes to certain people, especially Christians who believe that she practises witchcraft it does make one wonder if her girl next door image is a ruse. A pretense she uses to make herself endear to so many people, to the point where they end up buying into her public image. She might be rather different in person.
Then again her older rival Katy Perry is a more relatable figure to me, not just because we both came from Christian families but that I backslid before and Perry's a backslider herself. Some of the things I struggle with are likely some of the things she goes through, the more she returns to God this year, the more she's going to struggle to get it right.
I struggle a lot with my sins like anger and lying, sometimes I try my hardest not to say something but I still can't get it right. My sister told me that her own relatives likely pray for her salvation, I've done the same thing too and it's going to take some time for her to return to God in earnest and get it right, the best she can do about it.
I even think Perry might end up better off than Swift, if she returns to God and tries to do the right thing she might reap a big benefit or blessing. She could help stray cats and dogs, poor people and even sing Christian hymns again. Even if Perry's not always the best of people, I feel she could still end up in a better position than her if she ever returns to God.
As for Swift herself, she doesn't seem to be a good role model for girls. Pardon if it sounds misogynistic but she never sticks to any man in her love life, she constantly dumps one man after another. She'll move onto the next boy toy if she tires of Travis Kelcie (or something), I don't think she ever puts effort into committing to one man at any point.
Not even Katy Perry has dumped this many men in her life, she's only had two boyfriends from what I know but I could be wrong in here. I still get the impression that Taylor Swift may not be a big girl next door in person, but to the extent that she might not know about if she did at all. Perry at least came from a humbler background, whereas Swift already had rich parents.
But it's really a matter of public image that says it all, Katy Perry might be a very ordinary woman in some regards. Taylor Swift might not be much of an everywoman, conversely speaking but it doesn't seem that way due to their respective public images. In the end perhaps if Swift herself isn't much of a good role model for girls, then things with catch up with her.
Not in ways she even likes. Despite the tags, I'm not really a big TS hater but did it to gain more publicity to be honest.

'Barbie and Oppenheimer's July 21 release date fueled heated debates online about which would win the box office, and while one movie out-grossed the other, they're both champions given all the records they collectively achieved. The two movies couldn't be any more different, as one is a comedy about a toy doll and has a color pallet that's 50 shades of pink, and the other is a bleak biopic about the inventor of the atomic bomb. Both come from visionary directors, too. Oppenheimer is by Christopher Nolan, who makes movies on an epic scale and pushes the boundaries of cinema, and Barbie is directed by profound filmmaker Greta Gerwig.
Despite the debates about which would do better during their opening weekend, viewers embraced the phenomena of "Barbenheimer," and many went to see both movies on the same day. In a plot twist as great as any of Nolan's, the two movies seemingly helped each other become more successful instead of stealing the other's audiences. Not only was it perfect counterprogramming, but viewers who wouldn't ordinarily watch Barbie embraced the film, and vice versa. As a result, "Barbenheimer" is being hailed as the weekend that saved cinema, with Barbie and Oppenheimer both opening big at the box office, and it's led to a number of records being set and/or broken.
17. Oppenheimer Is Christopher Nolan's Best Opening For A Non-Batman Movie
Einstein and Oppenheimer talking by a lake in Oppenheimer Oppenheimer had one of Christopher Nolan's biggest box office openings. The biopic had an opening domestic gross of $80.5 million and a debut worldwide gross of $174.2 million, and both numbers are higher than the respective grosses of Nolan's other films outside his Batman movies. Even then, Oppenheimer made more than Batman Begins did in its opening weekend, which is even more impressive given that Oppenheimer is three hours long.
16. Barbie Has The Best Opening Weekend Of 2023
Barbie is rated PG-13, which is surprising for a movie based on children's toys. However, despite this, the movie still managed to make much more than The Super Mario Bros. Movie did in its opening weekend. Barbie grossed $155 million domestically and $182 internationally, and both of these figures beat the animated video game movie and knocked it off the top spot of 2023.
15. Barbie Is Already Mattel's Highest-Grossing Movie Ever
Even though it is just the movie's first weekend, Barbie has already become Mattel's highest-grossing movie of all time. Granted, there might not have been much competition when it comes to movies based on the brand's toys, yet it's still a huge feat considering how quickly the record was achieved. The toy manufacturer will undoubtedly now greenlight a lot more movies based on its products.
14. Barbie Is Warner Bros.' Biggest Opening Weekend In 7 Years
Warner Bros. hasn't seen this much success in an opening weekend with any of their movies in seven years. The last Warner Bros. movie to gross more than Barbie in its opening weekend was Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Even then, the 2016 release was a huge event movie, and when it quickly earned a mixed reception, the film suffered a huge dip in its second weekend. Given the positive reception of Barbie, the 2023 film will undoubtedly outperform the superhero movie.
13. Barbenheimer Is The Fourth-Best Opening Weekend In History
Together, Barbie and Oppenheimer had a total domestic opening weekend gross of $235 million at the box office. That's the fourth-highest domestic opening weekend ever. "Barbenheimer" weekend sits behind the opening weekends of Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It might have required two films, but the fact that two films grossed a combined $235 million domestically on the same weekend is arguably even more impressive.
12. Barbie Is The Biggest Opening Weekend Ever For A Woman Director
Greta Gerwig has made history with Barbie, as the movie has become the biggest opening weekend for a woman director, and that likely won't be beaten any time soon. The previous record holder was Anna Boden, who co-directed Captain Marvel with Ryan Fleck. The superhero movie grossed $153.4 million domestically in its opening weekend, and Barbie only just barely beat it.
11. Oppenheimer Is The Second-Biggest Opening Of All Time For A Biopic
Oppenheimer had the second-biggest opening for a biopic, sitting behind American Sniper, which grossed $89.2 million worldwide in its debut. However, Oppenheimer could still potentially have a much better box office performance overall, as there's a lot more interest in Oppenheimer internationally than there was with American Sniper.
10. Barbie Is Greta Gerwig's Biggest Movie Ever
It wasn't remotely hard for Barbie to surpass the previous Great Gerwig movies at the box office, but it's still an impressive feat. Gerwig directed Lady Bird, which took in a total of $79 million worldwide, and Little Women, which grossed $218 million worldwide during its entire run. Barbie has grossed more than both of those two movies combined, and the movie did so within its opening weekend alone.
9. Barbie Is Margot Robbie's Biggest Opening Weekend Ever
Margot Robbie is a huge movie star who has led a ton of blockbuster movies, including Suicide Squad and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. However, Barbie easily delivered the biggest opening weekend the actor has ever had, beating Suicide Squad's $133.7 million. The actor needed this, as Barbie follows Margot Robbie's two 2023 box office bombs, Babylon and Amsterdam.
8. Barbie Is Ryan Gosling's Biggest Opening Weekend Ever
Not only did Barbie give Margot Robbie her biggest opening weekend ever, but it's Ryan Gosling's, too. Gosling's Ken is a scene-stealer in Barbie, and the box office performance is just as much of a win for him as it is for Robbie. While Gosling is an A-list star, he has surprisingly never had a huge box office hit, as his previous biggest opening weekend was $32.8 million for Blade Runner 2049.
7. Barbie Is The Biggest Opening Weekend For A Movie Based On A Toy
Barbie beat Transformers: Dark of the Moon by a landslide to have the biggest worldwide opening weekend for a movie based on a toy. The Transformers sequel took in $115.9 million worldwide in its debut, losing to Barbie by $50 million. If this is a sign of things to come, based on the Transformers movies' box office grosses, Barbie will easily pass the billion-dollar mark before it's done.
6. Barbie Is The Largest Non‐Sequel, Non‐Remake Movie Released In July
Though Barbie is an IP-driven film, its success isn't based on any previous movie, and that has led to another huge record. July is always a huge month for blockbuster movies given that it's part of the summer movie season, but Barbie had the biggest worldwide opening of any non-sequel and non-remake released in the month. The animated feature The Secret Life of Pets previously held the record, as opened with $104.4 million in 2016, but Barbie beat that by over $50 million.
5. Oppenheimer Is The Biggest IMAX Opening For Christopher Nolan
Though Christopher Nolan has broken three IMAX cameras, the filmmaker has always championed the format and believes that IMAX screens are the only way to watch his films. The director even worked with IMAX to develop a black-and-white IMAX camera for Oppenheimer, so it must be gratifying for the director to know that the 2023 movie gave him his biggest IMAX opening ever. The total sales of IMAX tickets for Oppenheimer over the weekend was $21.1 million, accounting for more than a quarter of its worldwide gross.
4. Barbie Is Warner Bros.' Biggest Opening Weekend For A Non-Sequel/Non-DC Movie
Barbie gave Warner Bros. its biggest opening weekend in seven years — since the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — but without taking into account sequels or DC movies, the 2023 film had the studio's highest opening ever. Warner Bros. has never seen this much cash flow before, not even with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The previous record holder was 2017's It, which debut with $123.4 million worldwide, but that was dethroned by Barbie.
3. Oppenheimer Is The Biggest Opening For An R-Rated Movie Since Joker
Joker had the biggest opening weekend ever for an R-rated movie, grossing $96.2 million worldwide. Nevertheless, there have been some noteworthy R-rated movies since then that had lower opening weekends than Oppenheimer, such as Bad Boys for Life and John Wick: Chapter 4. This is even more impressive given that not only does Oppenheimer have a limited audience due to its R rating, but it's also three hours long, partly presented in black and white, and tackles sensitive subject matter.
2. Barbie Has Already Surpassed The Lifetime Grosses Of Several Female-Led Movies
Barbie's opening-weekend box office gross is already much bigger than the lifetime grosses of many recent female-led movies. The 2018 spinoff Ocean's 8, which is part of a bankable franchise, had a total worldwide gross of $297.7 million, and Greta Gerwig's own Little Women grossed $218.8 million. Even Birds of Prey, which is both led by Margot Robbie and part of Warner Bros.'s DCEU franchise, grossed $205.3 million. These are figures that Barbie didn't even need a full weekend to break.
1. Barbenheimer Is The First Time 2 Movies Have Opened To Over $80 Million Each
When it comes to two movies being released on the same weekend, one movie usually dominates over the other one, whether it's because one had more exposure or marketing or because one of them was negatively received. However, the joint release of Barbie and Oppenheimer is the first time ever that two movies have had domestic grosses of over $80 million in their opening weekends.'

trying to think of like... how would I describe each laptop manufacturer on pure vibes. off the top of my head...
asus: we have more marketing and r&d budget then we can possibly spend on normal things. look, this one is coated in LEDs! this one has the keyboard in the wrong place! this one splits open! half of their premium product launches generate more youtube views than actual sales because by the time you consider buying one they're discontinued. high-end products can be quite good; midrange products are often a couple bucks too expensive because the brand name buys you some clout. spends a lot of cash to get floorspace at best buy. taiwan.
lenovo: a relative newcomer to the western market (they bought IBM's thinkpad division back in the day), used to be the kings of cost cutting on basically every part they could think of. if they've learned what parts are actually worth cutting costs on (and benefitted from the fact that these days 85% of the parts that exist are Actually Decent) there might be something there. primarily does direct online sales. mainland china.
msi: kind of hit on an identity when they made the first thin and light gaming laptop/"jack of all trades, master of none" device that was actually good, and continue to have a strong presence in that market. devices tend to be a bit on the hollow/flexible-feeling side, not necessarily in a bad way, but just in contrast to "ough that's solid but heavy." under-reviewed, imho. taiwan.
gigabyte: hey, we exist too! some cool stuff at the high end; primary drawback in the west is a reputation for spotty support if you don't speak mandarin since they just do less sales volume than the other Asian companies. mainland china
acer: budget, budget, budget. takes up a truly impressive amount of the low to midrange market with usable but unspectacular devices. once in a while they'll put out a premium-priced device and get confused reviews, like, "guys, this is just a budget laptop with a higher price tag???" known for pure gaming laptops with poor battery life, displays, keyboards, and trackpads but very competitive performance, and general use laptops that are very competent for the price tag if you can find the model that hit the right balance on all of the parts. taiwan.
lg: primarily known for the lg gram line of premium, very lightweight general-use laptops, which are pretty good. do they make anything else? korea.
samsung: yeah we make everything; sure, let's make laptops. very low volume kind of like lg, but a marketing behemoth like asus. korea.
framework: finally, a repairability-focused laptop that's actually good. only has one device (13" general-use) and it's a bit overpriced iirc, and you have some "we're a startup" stuff to deal with, but it's rare that you can take a moral stance and actually get a good product out of it. united states.
dell: kind of the flagship american laptop brand. does a bit of everything. competes with asus on the "solidly built, premium-priced, unnecessarily flashy gaming" front via alienware, with acer on the "budget-priced, competent enough gaming" front via inspiron, and with apple on the "best possible jack of all trades" front via xps. notably, has a huge refurbished store (dell outlet) with a ton of selection that's unmatched by any of the others. united states.
hp: guys we're just like dell! please believe us. used to be the other flagship american laptop brand for years and then idk they ran out of money or something and dropped most of their product lines. kind of like american acer now, I guess? united states.
apple: operating system differences aside, has a consistent standard of build quality, minimum part quality, relative reliability, and "having a working trackpad" that makes every windows laptop look like some sort of children's toy. (I am not joking: the 2008 macbook pro has a trackpad that has not been matched by a windows pc in 15 years. it is legitimately puzzling.) 2016-2019 missteps aside, 80% of the things one could list about a laptop have been multiple years ahead of the competition on the mac essentially forever. on the other hand, they're a gazillion dollars, you can't game on them basically at all, you're stuck with macos, etc etc. (the m1 macbook air in particular is so good that none of that even really matters, though. fingers crossed for the 15" m2 air to continue the trend and not be $1800.) united states.
microsoft: "look, we can match apple's build and display quality!" an extreme newcomer, specifically designed to push the windows platform in the fronts where apple traditionally ate their lunch. they absolutely have done that, and are years ahead of almost anyone else on those fronts. too bad they're constantly a year behind schedule with their hardware and only do premium pricing, had some reliability issues, and suffer from a "we glued the whole thing together and if it breaks it's unfixable" problem that they're only very recently engineering their way out of. still, managed to put a seriously compelling product (surface laptop) in the premium general-use device category until the m1 air came out. united states.
razer: "look, we can match apple's build quality in a gaming laptop!" a relative newcomer that made an incredible, unprecedented jump from a gaming mouse company to a moderate-volume premium pc manufacturer somehow. only sells to the ultra-premium gaming market (weird ultrabooks aside), but does a good job of it. united states.
clevo: the white-label manufacturer behind many smaller brands like ibuypower, maingear; often does comically huge desktop replacement style devices. taiwan.
origin/corsair: who knows, but knowing corsair (asus on bad steroids), it will be about 85% too expensive to be more than a curiosity. united states.
huawei, xiaomei: up-and-coming chinese phone manufacturers joining the laptop market a la samsung. hard to find or get service for in the west. notable because they had access to the high-end display panels that before recently only apple and microsoft used, and sold devices with them at much lower prices. mainland china.

Choosing and Using Automatic Male Masturbators
An automatic male masturbator is a sex toy for men, designed to stimulate the penis while offering a hands-free experience. They can suck, heat, vibrate, rotate and more. These sex toys are designed to give you an exciting and pleasurable time, whether you’re alone or with a partner.
Choosing an Automatic Male Masturbator
The first thing you need to do is find the right automatic masturbator for your specific needs and desires. You need to choose a device that is soft, supple and feels good on your penis. You also need to find a device that is easy to use. Some of these sex toys have remote controls and apps that can be used to customize the stroking and vibrations for optimal pleasure.
Keeping an Automatic Male Masturbator Clean
If you don’t clean an automatic masturbator regularly, it can become dirty and clogged with small particles and bacteria that could lead to infection. That’s why it’s important to keep them clean and sanitized with a good lube and a good cleaning solution.
A lot of these devices are made from porous materials, so it’s vital to keep them clean. You can do this by applying a water-based lube to the opening and letting it soak into the masturbator. This lube is especially helpful if you’re using a device that has a silicone sleeve, as it will prevent any friction from forming between the sleeve and your penis.
Depending on the materials your automatic masturbator is made from, you should use a different type of lube than the one you’d normally apply to a regular masturbator. If you’re using a silicone product, you shouldn’t use silicone-based lubes because they will damage the silicone. You can use water-based lubes instead, but make sure you’re not applying too much!
You should also change your position while masturbating. This is especially important if you’re using a device with a fast-stroking motor. This will help you avoid jerking off and getting injured.
When you’re using an automatic male masturbator, it’s important to lubricate the opening and the sleeve. This will prevent the friction between the sleeve and your cock from hurting your penis. It will also protect your bare skin from the stroking motor.
Some manufacturers even come with a special lubrication that can be applied to the sleeve and cock of your machine. If you’re not sure what kind of lube to use, you can always check out your local pharmacy or drug store for a product that is suitable for your sex toy.
Another important thing to consider when buying an automatic masturbator is its size. They tend to be larger than regular sex toys, so you’ll need to be sure that it fits your penis comfortably. Some models will even come with a travel pouch, but you’ll want to be sure that the one you’re getting is comfortable to hold and feel great on your hand.
Some of the best automatic masturbators are available online and in stores. They aren’t the cheapest types of sex toys, but they’re a great option for those who want a high-quality device that won’t break their budget. They can cost anywhere from $100 to $250, so they’re worth the investment if you’re looking for a high-quality and convenient sex toy.

Unboxing: What to Look for When Buying Pet Accessories Online
For cheap and best Dog Products - https://dogiclub.com/
Buying pet accessories online has become an easy and convenient way to shop for your furry friends. However, with the vast variety of products available, it can be overwhelming to choose the best items. When shopping for pet accessories online, it's essential to consider several factors to ensure you're getting the right products for your pet’s needs. Here’s a guide on what to look for when purchasing pet accessories online.
1. Quality and Durability The most important thing to look for is the quality of the product. Pets, especially dogs, can be rough on their accessories, so you need items that are durable and can withstand their energy. Look for materials like high-quality nylon, sturdy leather, and durable rubber that can resist wear and tear. A well-constructed pet accessory ensures your pet’s safety and lasts longer, saving you money in the long run.
2. Size and Fit Always check for size guides before purchasing pet accessories like collars, harnesses, or clothing. A product that doesn’t fit correctly could be uncomfortable for your pet or even unsafe. Measure your pet's neck, chest, or waist according to the manufacturer’s sizing chart to ensure a perfect fit. Some online stores offer adjustable options, which can be more flexible for pets that may grow or change in size.
3. Safety Features Pet accessories should prioritize your pet’s safety. Look for products that are non-toxic, free from harmful chemicals, and made with pet-friendly materials. For instance, when buying dog toys or chews, ensure they are free from small parts that could be swallowed. Reflective collars, harnesses, and leashes are also great options for enhancing your pet’s visibility during walks, especially at night.
4. Customer Reviews and Ratings One of the most valuable aspects of online shopping is the ability to check customer reviews. Before making a purchase, read through reviews and ratings from other pet owners to get an idea of the product’s quality and performance. Pay attention to both positive and negative feedback to make an informed decision.
5. Brand Reputation Choose well-known brands that specialize in pet accessories. Established brands tend to offer reliable products backed by warranties or guarantees. This ensures you’re purchasing from a trusted source, reducing the risk of buying subpar or unsafe products for your pet.
6. Price and Value for Money While looking for the best deals, ensure you’re also getting value for your money. Cheaper options may seem appealing, but they might not offer the durability or safety your pet needs. Compare prices across different websites to ensure you're getting the best possible price without compromising on quality.
By keeping these factors in mind, you can confidently choose the best pet accessories online, ensuring that your furry friend stays happy, comfortable, and safe.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Get Your Product ESMA Certified in the UAE | +971 554747210
In the competitive landscape of the UAE’s marketplace, the ESMA Certificate is a crucial certification for businesses aiming to sell their products. Issued by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), this certification ensures that products meet the UAE’s stringent safety, quality, and environmental standards. Whether you’re a manufacturer, importer, or retailer, obtaining the ESMA Certificate is a vital step toward regulatory compliance and market access.
This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process of getting your product ESMA certified in the UAE, helping you navigate the requirements and procedures efficiently.
Step 1: Understand the Regulatory Requirements
Before starting the certification process, it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the UAE’s regulatory requirements. ESMA provides guidelines for various product categories, including:
Electrical and electronic equipment
Toys and children’s products
Food and beverages
Cosmetics and personal care products
Automotive components
Each category has specific technical regulations, standards, and compliance criteria. Visit the ESMA website or consult with regulatory experts to understand the requirements relevant to your product.
Step 2: Identify the Applicable Certification Type
ESMA offers several types of certifications depending on the product and its intended use. These include:
1. Emirates Quality Mark (EQM)
The EQM is awarded to products that comply with UAE and international standards and are produced in certified facilities.
2. Certificate of Conformity (CoC)
The CoC is issued for regulated products imported into the UAE, ensuring they meet the required standards.
3. G-Mark Certification
Mandatory for low-voltage electrical equipment and children’s toys, the G-Mark ensures product safety and compliance with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) standards.
Choose the appropriate certification based on your product category and market requirements.
Step 3: Prepare Technical Documentation
To initiate the certification process, you must compile comprehensive technical documentation. This typically includes:
Product specifications
Technical drawings and user manuals
Test reports from accredited laboratories
Risk assessments and safety analysis
Factory audit reports (if applicable)
Ensure that all documents are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with ESMA’s requirements.
Step 4: Conduct Product Testing
Testing is a critical step in the ESMA certification process. Products must be tested in ESMA-approved laboratories to verify compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Testing parameters may include:
Electrical safety
Chemical composition
Mechanical performance
Environmental impact
Choose a reputable testing lab accredited by ESMA to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Step 5: Submit Your Application
Once the documentation and testing are complete, submit your application to ESMA through their online portal. The submission process involves:
Creating an account on the ESMA system
Uploading the required documents and test reports
Paying the applicable fees
Ensure that all submitted documents are clear and error-free to avoid delays in processing.
Step 6: Undergo Factory Audits (if required)
For products applying for the Emirates Quality Mark or other certifications requiring production facility assessments, ESMA conducts factory audits. These audits evaluate:
Manufacturing processes
Quality control systems
Compliance with safety and environmental standards
Prepare your facility for the audit by addressing potential gaps and ensuring adherence to best practices.
Step 7: Receive the Certification
Once your application is approved and all requirements are met, ESMA will issue the certification. The certificate allows your product to bear the Emirates Quality Mark or the Conformity Mark, signifying compliance and granting access to the UAE market.
Step 8: Ensure Ongoing Compliance
Obtaining the ESMA Certificate is not a one-time task. Businesses must ensure continuous compliance by:
Renewing the certificate periodically
Addressing updates to regulatory standards
Maintaining quality and safety in production processes
Regular audits and monitoring help sustain compliance and uphold consumer trust.
Common Challenges in ESMA Certification and How to Overcome Them
While the ESMA certification process is systematic, businesses may encounter challenges such as:
1. Complex Regulatory Landscape
Understanding the technical regulations for various product categories can be daunting. Engaging with regulatory consultants or testing labs can simplify this process.
2. Documentation Errors
Incomplete or incorrect documentation can delay certification. Double-check all submissions and seek expert assistance to ensure accuracy.
3. Testing and Audit Delays
Delays in product testing or factory audits can impact your certification timeline. Plan ahead and choose accredited labs to streamline the process.
Benefits of ESMA Certification
Obtaining the ESMA Certificate offers numerous advantages, including:
1. Legal Market Access
The certification is mandatory for selling regulated products in the UAE, ensuring compliance with local laws.
2. Consumer Confidence
Products bearing the ESMA mark signify quality and safety, fostering trust and enhancing brand reputation.
3. Competitive Advantage
Certified products stand out in a competitive market, giving businesses an edge over non-compliant competitors.
4. Streamlined Customs Clearance
ESMA-certified products enjoy smoother customs procedures, reducing delays and costs associated with importation.
The Role of Testing Labs in ESMA Certification
Testing laboratories play an integral role in the ESMA certification process. These facilities provide:
Expert testing and analysis to ensure compliance
Technical support in understanding regulatory requirements
Pre-certification assessments to identify potential gaps
Partnering with an ESMA-approved lab can significantly enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the certification process.
Conclusion
The ESMA Certificate is a vital requirement for businesses aiming to sell products in the UAE. By following this step-by-step guide, you can navigate the certification process with confidence and efficiency. From understanding regulatory requirements to ensuring ongoing compliance, each step plays a crucial role in achieving certification and reaping its benefits.
Engaging with accredited testing labs and regulatory experts can streamline the journey, helping you secure the ESMA mark and establish a strong presence in the UAE market. As a hallmark of quality and safety, the ESMA Certificate not only ensures legal compliance but also builds consumer trust, enhances market competitiveness, and supports long-term business success.
