Funny getting a new pair of the headphones I've had for... 4-5 years and realizing just how bad mine ended up. Like they DID fit snugly onto my head at one point.
#when i said i treat my electronics kindly... that doesn't apply to headphones. i try my best but i do sleep in them almost every night lmao#yes they snapped somewhere like seven times but I've just superglued (and on one stubborn occasion. also taped) them back together#and they were functionally fine!#but not too long ago i took a good look at them and told myself next time they broke I'd order a new pair#and lo and behold they broke again. luckily under the tape so i was able to keep using them until my new pair arrived#most nights i sleep like a rotisserie chicken so im shocked they were durable enough to last as long as they did#jbl tune 500/510 headphones i love you

Best Bluetooth Collar Earphones Under 500
Most Bluetooth collar earphones have the same basic design. Two earbuds are connected by a thin wire at each end of the neckband. The best ones have a little more flair. They have a snazzy app, a convenient charging station, and a handy volume rocker. If you don't mind spending the big bucks, you can get a nice pair of around-the-neck headphones for under 500. But is it worth the cash? You need to weigh the benefits of the various features.
The most important function of a Bluetooth earphone is the connection. A good pair will allow you to make a connection within 30 ft of the device. In addition to the standard earbuds, the cheapest models will have two additional, smaller earbuds that can be attached via a thin cord. Although they are relatively inexpensive, the quality of the earbuds can vary. For instance, some are made from plastic and have rubberized ends. Other models are made from high-quality, branded materials.
One of the most impressive features of the newest crop of Bluetooth earphones is their ANC (Automatic Noise Cancellation) system. Though they are not as robust as their predecessors, these headphones produce an acceptable level of noise cancellation. However, they can be uncomfortable after an hour or so. Likewise, the battery life is modest. With a standard charge, you can expect to get five hours of music playback. There's no auto-off feature, so you'll have to remember to turn the unit off if you want to save power.
Lastly, the earbuds o f the most expensive models have a fancy LED light that flashes in sync with the sound. This is great for music playback, but not so much for phone calls. Moreover, the LED light isn't nearly as bright as it would be if it were wired to the earbuds. It's not the most practical use of your battery life.
To sum it all up, the best Bluetooth collar earphones aren't a magic pill, FPX Labs offer plenty of features to keep you engaged with your favorite tunes. The best are also reasonably priced. From the V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition to the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds 2, there are options to suit every budget.

ice ice baby - park sunghoon
the first time you went ice skating you almost fell. thankfully a taller guy was there to catch you. surprise surprise, of course it had to be sunghoon, king of the school, ice prince, whatever.
pairing >>> sunghoon x male reader
tags >>> college au, fluff, strangers to friends to more than friends (lovers?), ice skating, falling, idfk, sunghoon being a little forward
author's note >>> LOL hello i apologize for dying. i realize how much i miss this account and ive just been itching to come back so here i am
you knew coming to the ice rink was a mistake to begin with. i mean, come on, your ass was a fucking ice skating virgin: you'd never been before, so why would you even bother starting now?
alas, your best friend had stayed up all night watching yuzuru hanyu videos and all of a sudden, he felt the urge to begin ice skating, compelling you that it's "a calling" and if you guys didn't "drive to partake in the artistic media form that is ice skating" then you'd "lose the individuality that the human spirit guides us with."
...whatever that means.
at least he paid for you! a win's a win sometimes.
"c'mon y/n, you have to get off the railing at some point!" sunoo calls to you, skating in reverse to watch you. the edge had become your safety net, allowing you to actually move somewhat on the ice. sunoo on the other hand had somehow become a pro within the 15 minutes since you guys arrived, being able to skate forwards, backwards, eyes closed, anything possible. he even started gaining an understanding of how to spin, and was attempting to learn how to execute an axel.
you were still just trying to walk normally, not knowing how to know the difference between skating and walking. "sunoo, unfortunately i cannot let go of this fucking railing or i will die."
the boy just laughs at you, eyes rolling back. "you're exaggerating, just let go for one second!" you watch as he leaves you, gliding along the ice as if it was simply made for him.
building up the confidence, you finally stray away from the railing, letting go of your one protection spell from you upright and you on the floor. as you float along the ice, you feel that sense of freedom that sunoo was pestering you about, and you speed up, the skates on your feet becoming an outlet for your vitality.
but unfortunately, you were not yuzuru hanyu, nor were you kim sunoo. you misplace one foot, causing an imbalance in your body. you knew this was it. in front of all of these people, atleast 4 500 for sure, you were going to literally eat shit and die.
as you begin to fall, you brace for impact and close your eyes, but the collapse never happens, and instead, you feel someone's body holding yours, catching the impending descent to the ice.
"you okay?" the guy asks, and only after he said it was when you opened your eyes and looked up at him. though it takes you a moment, a flash of recognition eventually appeared in your brain. park sunghoon. king of the ice, king of the school. the renowned ice prince, the ice skater that competed in the olympics. "oh, y/n. are you okay?"
"y-yeah, sorry," you cover your face with your hands, muttering under your breath, "oh my god i almost died."
apparently it was in fact, not under your breath, because this gets a snicker out of the man, responding to you, "you did not almost die. maybe fall, but death is too much." he grabs you by the arm and skates you both toward the edge again, allowing you to grasp onto your lifeline once more.
"thank you, sunghoon. i'm sorry again for... i don't know. maybe it was a good thing, now you know that i'm shit at ice skating, i don't know how you do this." you observe him with your full attention now, noticing how he's dressed in a basic outfit with a beanie and headphones as if he knew that this would be a simple activity for him. not only this, but he has sunglasses on, presumably to hide his demeanor: he's kind of a celebrity around here.
"it's alright y/n, i told you already. plus, you're not that bad. you're just... learning." he seems like the last part was an afterthought, and you assume that he was going to say something more negative before changing his wording. "are you here alone?"
"nah, i'm here with sunoo. what about you?"
he flashes a quick smile, lifting his sunglasses to make eye contact with you. when he does, you look at his face closely, and realize he really is as cute as people say. you never really cared to notice him, as to you, he was just some guy that happened to have an expertise in ice skating. seeing him up close, you understand why people could develop crushes: his face was perfectly symmetrical with the only thing varied was the mole on his nose, but he has an extremely aesthetic face. his body was also perfect, broad shoulders with a smaller waist.
huh.
"just here alone. now i'm with you. so not alone." when he smiles, you could see how cute he really is, his fangs on both sides of his teeth accentuate his cuteness, offering a tinge of fierceness if he was focused. you both stare at each other for seconds too long, neither of you wanting to break the gaze. eventually, he looks away, saying to you, "wanna see something cool?" obviously you nod, and you watch as he skates away, accelerating before jumping right into a double axel, landing gracefully before coming right back to you.
you clap quickly, not wanting to let go of the edge for too long, "wow, impressive! i could do that too probably."
"oh yeah, cause you're like the best skater right? i think i've watched your videos before online." he motions a rectangle in front of him like a screen, "y/n l/n, triple axel, into a hydroblade, ending with two flying spins."
you scoff, flicking your wrist in front of him. "you know it bro, real recognizes real."
"for real." he looks at you with a straight face before bursting into laughter. "you're pretty funny you know, i'm surprised we haven't talked much before."
you scratch your head, "well, it's pretty hard when you're just the coolest, bestest, sexiest, beast of a skater." you joke with him.
"you think that of me?" he asks, one fang turning visible as he smirks.
"i was actually talking about me, thank you very much."
he hits his head in faux stupidity, smile not faltering from his face however. "oh, silly me. i should've known, like you said."
"what did i say?"
"real recognizes real." he removes his gaze from you to check his watch quickly before looking back at you. "you know, it's getting pretty late for a guy like you."
you whip your phone our from your back pocket. "sunghoon, it's literally 5:32 in the p.m. i can literally see the sun still."
he laughs awkwardly, "well, still late for a pretty boy like you."
"p-pretty?" you stare at him, wondering whether or not he meant to tell you that or not. "what are you talking about dude?"
"i said what i said. i meant that it's late, the ring closes at 6 today because of some hockey players wanting to run scrims before their tournament," sunghoon explains, leaning on the railing next to you. "i'm probably gonna leave soon anyway, so maybe you and sunoo can join me in getting dinner? if you want of course, i don't know if you have plans already."
"honestly, me and sunoo are supposed to get dinner with just each other, so maybe-" you begin to tell him, but then you notice sunoo talking to his crush on the other side of the ring, and a second later a text from said boy shows up.
[5:34 PM]
ALERT. CODE BLUE.
OK LOWKEY I REALIZE U DONT KNO WHAT THAT MEANS WEVE NEVER DONE CODES ANYWAY ICU TALKING TO SUNGHOON SO GO HANG OUT WITH HIM I WILL HANG OUT WITH MY MANSSSSSS XOXOXOOXO
"-you know what? let's get dinner. sunoo is actually busy all of a sudden." you roll your eyes when you make eye contact with sunoo, him giving you two thumbs up and a cheeky smile as his crush types something down on his phone.
"perfect. i wanted it to just be us. maybe i'll kidnap you and put you in my basement." the confusion on your face must've been evident, because he immediately follows up with "i was kidding. let's just get dinner." with that, he leaves you once again, skating around the rink with a few more tricks before coming back to you, signaling for you to follow him.
you do, getting out of the rink walking along the edge before sitting down next to him. you reach over to untie your laces, before sunghoon ushers you back, simultaneously getting on his knees in front of you, holding your right skate in front of him. "what are you doing?"
"untying your skate, why?"
"i can do it myself, you know?" you look straight into his eyes, tilting your head slightly.
"pretty boys shouldn't have to do anything," he suggests before giving you a little wink, causing you to turn away, not able to meet his eyes after his stupid flirtatious comment.
"w-well, what about you then!"
he removes your skate before moving on to the next one. "oh, so you think i'm a pretty boy huh? good to know." he unlaces your other skate before sitting down next to you, untying his own with haste. it clearly comes from experience, because it's no less than 15 seconds before he's up again, grabbing his sneakers, along with your own to your surprise. "here. so you don't have to get up."
"how do you know what my sneakers look like?"
"i saw you come in."
you lightly hit his shoulder. "so you were watching me the whole time?"
"cute boys deserve attention, wouldn't you say so?"
he goes back down to your feet and signals to put on your sneakers again. "i mean yeah but... you? finding me cute? hard to believe i guess."
"can't be that hard," you allow him to finish tying both shoes before helping him off the ground. you didn't even notice but he also had switched shoes with dexterity, leading you to wonder how much experience he has with these kind of things. "i've been watching you for a while honestly." he waves with his hands in front of you. "not like that, but more of like you're kinda like my school crush in a way."
you can't believe your ears. park sunghoon, king of the school, ice fucking prince, had a hallway school crush on you? y/n l/n. you didn't even feel like you stood out that much, just wanted to get your degree and leave. "school crush? there's just no way." you begin to walk away, not being able to face him without embarrassment flushing your face.
however, he clearly had other plans. "y/n." he grabs your arm, forcing you to look up at him. his eyes bore into yours, keeping you in a trance as you look at his face. "you're one of the cutest guys i've ever seen in my entire life. and i've seen a lot of people in my life already. please, just trust me when i say this."
and that was all the validation you needed. "oh. okay sunghoon. i trust you."
"good boy. now let's go get dinner, alright?"
and with that, he led you to his car to drive to dinner.
maybe the ice prince wasn't so cold after all.

Yoongi and Cyclamen 🥹✨
Cyclamen - Sincere Tenderness
Yoongi x Reader
Word Count: 500+
Genre: Roommate AU, Frenemies to Lovers AU, Fluffy fluff.
Summary: You love playing games with Yoongi, but it’s time to start something new.
Notes: Yoongi is so fun to write heh. I hope you enjoy love, happy new years 🌸
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You got me flowers?” Yoongi pauses in the doorway, keys dangling between his fingers as he blinks at you. His cheeks are red, no doubt from the biting cold outside and certainly not from the embarrassment of getting you such a nice gift. Certainly not.
You had got home from work and almost everything was the same in the apartment. The same headphones on the couch, the same notebook in the kitchen table, the same uneaten apple in the sad little fruit bowl. What had been different though was the giant vase filled to the brim with beautiful red flowers. You just can’t imagine how they got there.
“That wasn’t me. Nope.” His lips twitch, eyes unable to meet yours as he slowly walks into your shared apartment. But you’ll play his game, because playing with Yoongi is one of your favorite things. He may be a sarcastic asshat, but he’s your favorite asshat. Maybe that’s why you’ve put up with his banter for so many years.
“No…? I suppose it was the ghost that lives with us then?” He nods his head instantly, slowly shirking off his leather jacket and tossing it onto the couch. Crossing his arms, he raises his eyebrows and juts his chin out toward you.
“That’s exactly it. Look at you, so smart and analytical. I’m impressed.” A cheeky smirk, one that only grows as he saunters closer to look at the pretty bouquet. It’s huge, more flowers than you can count, enough that you looked past the card that’s nestled snuggly within the red petals. Plucking it out, you miss the flash of uncertainty in Yoon’s eyes as you open it.
“____, I know you like flowers or whatever so here you go. Happy New Years.” Not just any flower ‘or whatever’, but your favorite. It’s silent in the apartment as you meet his gaze. You stare at each other, both of your faces equally as blank. Glancing back down at the card, you try your best not to giggle giddily. What an adorable sap.
“…Did the ghost also sign the card off with your name?” Yoongi kisses his teeth, quickly plucking a flower from the vase. He glares at it like it’s offended him, like it’s going to end the world, slowly fingering the petals as he obviously tries to avoid the question.
“… There are plenty of people named Yoonie.” The giggles finally escape then as his eyes cut back to you, stroking the soft petals from the flower. Stepping close, so close these you’re in his personal bubble, you boop his button nose. It scrunches cutely, his eyes narrowing as he glares fakely.
“I didn’t specify that it was signed as Yoonie.” His face softens as he observes you, looking down at the flower and hiding behind his long bangs. Carefully, he holds it out, his hand trembling enough to be noticeable as he continues to look everywhere but at you.
“… Go to dinner with me. A date… Or whatever.” Raising a hand, you go past the flower easily and wrap your hand around his. It’s slightly clammy, surely not from nerves, but still warm and strong under your touch. Stroking his fingers gently with your own, you give him a blinding smile. It’s time to end this game so you can start a new one.
“I would love to.”
Secure Website: Use HTTPS to protect customer data and boost rankings.
Structured Data Markup: Implement schema to enhance visibility in search engine results with rich snippets.
HP Omen 27qs 240 Hz Gaming Monitor: Great Value & Results
Two gaming monitor value options exist. Some low-cost displays sacrifice features. The second kind sacrifices nothing and delivers 98% of premium screen performance for 30% of the cost. That category has many 27-inch QHD panels.
HP’s Omen display series offers good gaming performance, accurate and saturated color, and sturdy build quality for the price. My test product is the 27qs, a sweet spot product. The 27-inch IPS QHD monitor has 240 Hz, Adaptive-Sync, HDR, and wide gamut. Let’s look.
The Omen 27qs has a QHD (2560×1440) IPS panel. Ideal pixel density is 109ppi. It’s ideal because it produces sharp images with less processing than 4K’s 8.3 million pixels.
HP’s Adaptive-Sync and front-mounted G-Sync badge indicate Nvidia certification for premium video processing. You also get an effective backlight strobe (MPRT), that almost eliminates the phasing artifact on many other monitors. It’s a good alternative to Adaptive-Sync and works up to 240 Hz on the Omen 27qs. Multiple artifact-free options and smooth motion resolution make the overdrive well-implemented.
Very accurate color and a wide gamut mode that covers 90% of DCI-P3 ensure picture quality. VESA DisplayHDR 400 supports HDR10. My tests showed over 500 nits peak with a nice bump from 9,000:1 thanks to eight-zone edge dimming.
Standard gaming features include aiming points, timers, frame rate counters, and alignment marks. An LED ring in the back plays different colors and effects for light shows. HP’s sturdy chassis is built for long-term use.
Accessories and Assembly
HP Omen 27qs packaging is mostly plastic-free and foam-free. A few Teflon bits prevent scratching on molded cardboard pulp. A captive bolt connects the base and upright, and the panel snaps on. Fasteners and a 100mm VESA pattern are protected by a plastic shroud. The bundle includes high-quality USB and DisplayPort cables and IEC power for the internal supply. A metal VESA mount adapter is included.
No sharp corners or molded trim lines define the Omen 27qs’s sleek design. The white Omen logo is the only decoration on the front. An oversized version with a smooth taper is on the back. HP’s diamond motif appears on the LED ring, square base, and tiny white power LED.
The minimalist stand is sturdy enough to prevent wobbling. Ergonomics include 3.9-inch height adjustment and 5/20-degree tilt. Despite not swiveling, the base pivots as a unit on the desktop, allowing for unlimited swivel adjustment. Also included is a 90-degree portrait mode. Using a snap-on clip keeps cables tidy.
The usual up-and-under input panel has two HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort 1.4. The latter supports 55-240 Hz FreeSync and G-Sync. USB 3.2 has one upstream and two downstream ports. Plug headphones into the 3.5mm jack or use the three-watt internal speakers, which sound better than most. Their frequency range is wide and they play loudly without distortion.
OSD Features
The HP Omen 27qs uses nav pad keys with four directionals and a central selector instead of a joystick. Separate button toggles power. A quick menu opens with any key press, and the full OSD appears with a second select button press.
The Omen 27qs OSD has another diamond in the top left corner. Gaming has all video processing options. You get a five-level overdrive without trail artifacts until level four. MPRT, the backlight strobe, has five pulse widths. High settings reduce blur but reduce light output. Four was my test level. Level five is dark and best used in a dark room. Aiming point, frame rate indicator, and timer are available.
The rear LED ring can play three moving effects or be static. Variable breathing speed, and Random Color changes hue every five seconds to an hour. You can also turn off or adjust all effects’ brightness over 10 steps.
In the Image menu, you can enable dynamic contrast for SDR content that uses field dimming to reach 5,000:1. In HDR mode, the screen’s bottom backlight array dims eight vertical zones.
HP’s picture modes are unique and thoughtful. All eight Omen 27qs presets can be calibrated with RGB sliders. A gamma control is the only thing missing. Standard is the default and nearly matches the sRGB gamut, 2.2 gamma, and 6500K color temp. Native provides wide gamut SDR color. It needs calibration but looks great afterward.
The Audio menu has Voice, Music, and Video modes. Each is unique and favors different frequencies. You can assign the four directional buttons to quickly access color mode, brightness, and more in the Menu section.
HP Omen 27qs Calibration
To use sRGB color for SDR content, leave the Omen 27qs in Standard mode. No calibration or adjustments are needed. It matches grayscale, gamma, and color. Choose Native for SDR wide gamut color. It needs tweaking due to its slight blue tint. Auto-switching HDR signals gray out all picture controls. Its edge zone dimming and color accuracy give it over 9,000:1 contrast.
Game and Hands-on
The best thing about 27-inch QHD gaming monitors is that they do everything well yet are affordable. You can increase resolution by buying a more expensive display and video card and sacrificing frame rates. Higher speed requires sacrificing pixel density and paying more for 360 or 500 Hz.
It was ideal for a single daily monitor. Though measured average color gamut volume, high accuracy made using the wide gamut for SDR enjoyable. The pixel-free image is sharp. A density of 109ppi delivers most of Ultra HD’s clarity and allows higher gaming frame rates.
Doom Eternal was hard to leave due to the Omen 27qs’ premium feel and response. Virtually no input lag and super-fast panel response. Overdrive was perfectly tuned to eliminate motion blur. We could use the backlight strobe instead of Adaptive-Sync without penalty. A GeForce RTX 4090 video card locked frame rates at 240fps, preventing tearing. MPRT works without obvious phasing. Level 3 balanced light output and motion resolution. To offset narrow pulse widths, overhead brightness is ample.
Audio quality from the Omen 27qs impressed me. This is exceptionally clear and full. Quality op-amps allowed me to crank the volume past a comfortable level without distortion
Takeaway: The Omen 27qs offers great value with premium gaming and everyday usability. Its vibrant image is perfect for work or play. It can satisfy casual and professional gamers with its excellent video processing and low input lag.
Best Digital Piano Under $1000 | Yamaha, Roland, Kawai & Casio
youtube
Welcome to a fresh rundown of our favorite pianos and keyboards between the $500 and $1000 (USD) price range available on the market. In this article, we'll be looking at various models for the best digital piano under $1000, from Kawai’s ES110 to Yamaha’s P125, Casio’s fairly new PX-S1000, or Roland’s FP30. Every piano on the list is an 88-note instrument with a graded hammer action keyboard and touch-sensitive weighted keys.
This current year is certainly giving us plenty of reasons to find interesting and fun things to do indoors, and the piano is one of those things that checks all kinds of boxes. It's mentally stimulating, it can be social, and you can learn some of your favorite songs pretty quickly from YouTube.
There are a ton of families and parents out there who are thinking about introducing piano either back into their home or possibly for the first time, but they don't necessarily want to invest substantially more in an acoustic piano and find some of the extra perks of a digital piano, such as the ability to play quietly via the headphone jacks.
Best-Selling Piano Category
The $500-$1000 class is an incredibly popular category, in fact, it’s actually the category that boasts the highest volume of units sold for each manufacturer. As such, every major manufacturer offers at least one model in this class, so it's great to see how they all stack up against one another.
While most folks revert to Amazon to do a lot of their shopping research these days, many of these models are not actually sold on Amazon so some of the models might be totally new to you. We'll split it up between portable digitals (lightweight, easily transportable options), as well as stationary, home digital pianos.
Portable Digitals | Best Digital Piano Under $1000
Kawai ES110
The first instrument on our list is the Kawai ES110. As a portable piano, in its most basic format out of the box the ES110 is designed to be picked up and taken around, and it's one of the most lightweight instruments currently on the market. Kawai pianos, generally speaking, are known for a very realistic feel, overall sound quality, and a focus on the piano experience. When it comes to other features, sometimes we call that edutainment (lots of instrument sounds and rhythms), Kawai's tends to not be as loaded up in that department. A lot of the focus is instead geared toward creating as good a piano experience as possible.
Harmonic Imaging Sound Engine
The ES110 uses the Harmonic Imaging engine, which is an additive synthesis on top of an existing sample of a Kawai EX Concert Grand Piano. Please note this is different than the SK-EX grand piano sample set that the new CN / CA pianos have. The ES110 can be connected via wireless Bluetooth to a tablet with Kawai’s Virtual Technician, which gives you microscopic control of all of the parameters. It also gives the player 192-note polyphony, which is PLENTY for great textured playing at any level of complexity.
Responsive Hammer Compact Action
It uses Kawai's Responsive Hammer Compact action. This is a very well-weighted action. that has shown itself over the years to be a very durable action as well with good touch sensitivity.
Summary
For people who are looking at feel and piano tone as their main priorities with maybe a secondary priority being either the Bluetooth or just lightweight portability, the ES110 is an excellent choice. The ES110 is also compatible with a matching designer stand and triple pedal board from Kawai if you'd like more than the standard damper/sustain pedal that's included in the box.
Roland FP30
The next piano on our list is the Roland FP-30. Roland is the first company to have built a fully electric piano and has consistently been one of the key innovators of digital pianos for decades now. The FP-30 has been around for a little while and it's been a proven performer in the marketplace.
SuperNATURAL Piano Sound Engine
The FP30’s SuperNATURAL piano sound engine combines sampling with modern modeling technology for a convincing and expressive piano tone. The electric pianos are definite standouts as well.
Its onboard speakers aren’t quite as full-bodied as the ES110 for piano sound, but of course, can always be sent through an amp to beef it up.
PHA4 Action
The biggest thing that stands out about the FP-30 is the action - Roland's PHA-4 action. You'll find this action across much of the Roland line (including some models almost triple the price), and most notably, it features a triple sensor which is actually a really big deal for people who are using this to trigger virtual instruments or potentially, or for accurate MIDI output in a studio setting. The action also comes with a very nicely textured white key, and could certainly double as a bare-bones stage piano.
Summary
The addition of the Piano Partner 2 app is almost a must with this one since it gives it the rhythm auto-accompaniment feature. Also, like the ES110, the FP30 is also very lightweight and easy to carry around, but it is available as well with the full permanent stand and a triple pedal.
Yamaha P125
Piano number three is another one that I'm sure lots of people have run into - the Yamaha P125, which is easily one of the best-selling digital pianos in this category. Yamaha is famous for its manufacturing quality control, and they have always done a great job of matching their product with the customer demands.
Pure CF Sound Engine
The P125’s Pure CF sound engine is probably the biggest highlight of this instrument. This is a quality sound engine producing excellent tone for the price point.
There’s also a really nice clear set of speakers on board with two speakers that are actually facing you, so in terms of the sonic playing experience that the player themselves gets with the P125, it's just excellent.
GHS Action
The GHS action may be a little more basic than what you’re getting on the ES110 and FP30 in that less focus has been given to creating as authentic a physical touch.
This is probably simply due to the fact that the GHS action has been out for quite a few years now, so compared to some of the newer actions coming out from other manufacturers, it is feeling a little bit dated.
That said, it’s by no means a bad action, and still more than up for the task of helping a student through piano lessons.
Summary
The other thing that we really appreciate about the P125 is the ease with which you can navigate the various sounds that it's equipped with. There's also onboard accompaniment that's really well executed and easy to navigate.
The P125 offers a really nice balance of performance and features. Just like the ES110 and FP30, you can get the P125 with a matching stand and triple pedal, though out of the box it's nice and lightweight as well.
Casio PXS1000
Fourth on the list is Casio's relatively new Privia PX-S1000 which serves as the spiritual successor to the immensely popular and groundbreaking Casio Privia PX-160. With the release of this as well as the upgraded PX-S3000, there's clearly been a much bigger emphasis by Casio on the overall look and feel of the instrument. The 1000 and 3000 models are very distinct because of the high gloss, shiny black finish.
Multi-Dimensional AiR Sound Source
Casio has paid particularly close attention to creating as much control and variety of different reverb effects and surround effects as you really could possibly expect in an instrument of this price point with their AiR Sound Source.
Casio Multi-Dimensional-AiR-Sound-Source
The AiR Sound Source is well regarded in the industry for its richness and sense of space around the notes themselves. Interestingly, all of the controls are touch-sensitive and there are no actual physical buttons, which also looks very slick.
Smart Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard
The Smart Scaled Hammer Action features key-tops that have exaggerated textures that may be something that is a very good thing for people, or it could be something that's a little overdone. Either way, it's something you really just have to try because you never know until your fingers touch the keys.
In general, this is a solid action that most would agree outperforms Yamaha’s GHS action and is probably on par with Kawai’s GHS action.
Summary
S1000 is available with a matching stand, however, it does not have a matching pedalboard, though it is available with a floating triple pedal system, something similar to the Roland FP-60. The PX-S1000 is the most affordable digital piano on our list.
Home Digitals | Best Digital Piano Under $1000
Let's move into the home digital category. These are instruments that are not designed to be portable but are still very affordable, very easy to move around the house if need be, and come with integrated stands (sometimes a bench too). Be sure to check every individual product page, so that you know exactly whether you need to get an extra bench or whether one is included.
Kawai KDP110
The first home digital on the list is the Kawai KDP110. This is an interesting choice and comes right in at around the $1,000 mark in the United States. Some dealers may have this for slightly more, but it's close enough that we wanted to include it in this list. All kinds of things stand out about the KDP110.
Harmonic Imaging Sound Engine With SKEX Grand Piano Sample
The main grand piano sound is the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX individually sampled engine, which is a huge plus as this is a super thick and realistic piano tone. The added SKEX sample means this version of the HI engine is an upgrade over the version featured in the ES110.
Speaker System
The speaker system is very well-equipped, with the 40 watts of power significantly outpacing the less expensive Kawai KDP70 or similarly priced Roland RP102.
The KDP110 is also Bluetooth-compatible, which means that this will connect easily with any DAW program that has Bluetooth over MIDI compatibility. It also lets you use the KDP110 with Kawai zone, Sound Museum, and any other Kawai app that is built to be compatible with the KDP110 making navigation a breeze.
Responsive Hammer Compact II Action With Triple Sensor
The KDP110 uses an upgraded action from the action on the ES110, and this one has a tri-sensor. It’s a very sensitive action that is well-liked for its responsiveness and dynamic control.
In fact, in our opinion, it’s second only to Roland’s PHA4 action overall in terms of all of the piano actions featured on this list.
Summary
It's not particularly surprising that the 110 actually happens to be one of the most popular instruments that we sell here at Merriam even with advanced players needing a practice instrument, to the point that it's been extremely difficult to get in 2020 during COVID-19. Even if you have to get on a long waiting list, the KDP110 is more than worth the wait as it's easily one of the best pianos in its class.
Yamaha YDP144
Next on our list is the Yamaha Arius YDP-144. The YDP series is their entry point into home digital pianos with full actions. They share many components with their portable counterparts the P series, as well as the DGX series, including action and sample sets.
Yamaha CFX Sound Engine
The highlight of the YDP-144’s sound engine is the default grand piano tone which is a sample of Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand piano. Like the Shigeru Kawai SKEX, the CFX is one of the world’s finest concert grand pianos.
It comes across very nicely here and is without question one of the best default grand piano tones on our list.
The total number of tones is light at 10, but all are high quality. The speaker power is also on the lower end for the class with 16 watts of power. Still, the YDP-144 is producing a great tone.
GHS Action
Yamaha’s go-to action in this range is the same one featured in the P125 above - the Graded Hammer Standard (GHS), a satisfying albeit more basic design than some of the others in this category (Roland and Kawai both offer triple sensors, and the Roland additionally has escapement & textured key tops)
Summary
For the price, it tends to be a nice balance for a lot of people and certainly compares very well against things like either the KDP70 or the Roland RP102.
Roland RP102
The Roland RP102 is next on our list. This is a home digital that's the baby brother of the Roland RP501, and a little bit lower priced than the Roland F140, but with a more traditional cabinet.
SuperNATURAL Piano Sound Engine
The RP102 takes advantage of Roland's legendary supernatural sound engine, which is something that they've been working on for well over a decade. This sound technology is a really interesting cutting-edge way in which to combine real samples with some synthesis on top to add all kinds of interesting nuance to the tone.
The only sound-related downside is the relatively weak speaker output at 12 watts of power, especially contrasted with the KDP110’s 40-watt speaker output for example.
PHA4 Action
Even with the increased cost of the RP102 over the FP30, the PHA4 action is still widely regarded as the best action in the class and still a great value at this price point.
The combination of triple sensor, escapement, and textured key tops has no peer in this class.
Summary
Being that it is Bluetooth-compatible, Roland has several apps that work with the RP102.
Overall, the RP102 is a great option, with the only real downside being its lower power speaker output.
Kawai KDP70
Very last on the list is the Kawai KDP70. This is the little brother of the KDP110 and takes away a few things that you would get on the 110, but also saves you a few hundred dollars. Really, you can actually think of it as the console home version of the ES110.
Harmonic Imaging Sound Engine
Like the ES110, the KDP70 has a version of the Harmonic Imaging engine that is built around the EX sample. This is still a great-sounding sample with 88-key individual sampling and 192-note polyphony, but you can hear that it’s not quite as nice as the SKEX sample on the KDP110.
The speakers come in at 16 watts which is tied with the YDP144 and actually better than the RP102, but still a step down from the KDP110.
Responsive Hammer Compact Action
This is the same dual-sensor version of this action that is also found in the ES110. A solid, reliable action, if not as sensitive as the RHCII or PHA4.
Summary
The other big difference from the KDP110 is that the Bluetooth functionality is not present on the KDP70.
That being said, all in all, this is still a well-built, high-value unit. In many ways, it's an excellent comparison to the Roland RP102. It looks fantastic in the home and slightly different sound than you would get from the Roland.
Factors To Consider When Buying Sports Headphones
It is difficult to find the best sports headphones due to the many brands available. The key to choosing the right model depends on what type of activity you engage in. This will make it easier to choose.
When choosing headphones for running, ensure that they are either over or behind your ears. Earbud headphones can fall while you run. This is the main concern. These headphones are great for running, but not for serious running. The weight of the headphones is another consideration when you are looking for a running headphone. It should not be too heavy that it could affect your running.
The ability to handle sweat is another important aspect of choosing sports headphones. You should ensure that your headphones can handle sweat if you exercise regularly.
A Headphones Wireless Under 500 unit may be a better option if wires cause too much discomfort or bother during your activity. The wires could become entangled if you do too much running or exercise. While Bluetooth or wireless headphones are more expensive, they can be worth the investment.
It is always enjoyable to listen to music while you work out. The headphone included with your MP3 player might not be sufficient as they were only designed to be worn while you are walking or sitting down.
Consider buying models with clips if you are a frequent user of the treadmill. If you do heavy workouts, ensure that the model is waterproof. The neckband headphone is a good option.
There are many options for headphones for swimming. Consider buying swimming headphones if the standard waterproof headphone is not enough. If you love swimming, this is the perfect unit.
Your swimming cap can protect your standard waterproof headphone if you don't like the look of the regular model. This problem has been solved by newer waterproof headphones. You might want to research before you buy this type of swimming headphones. There are many styles and functions that these headphones can offer.
Online reviews are a great place to start your search for headphones for sport. Many of these reviews are based upon real-life experiences. These reviews will help you determine the pros and cons for the model that interests you.
The durability and price are important considerations when choosing headphones. A high quality product is more durable than one might think. After a few weeks, cheap headphones can often produce a poor or broken sound.
