the gojo twins are hilarious because your baby boy looks exactly like satoru, but has very little of his personality—it seems like the only things he inherited was satoru’s love for sweets and love for you. still, even though he’s a strong swimmer, he much prefers to relax in his floaties alongside you if you’re also in the pool, or chill by your side on a lounge chair, glasses too big for his face keeping the sun out of his eyes as he shares his smoothie with you, and asks to borrow your phone to take pictures of his sister and daddy in the pool. 

your baby girl on the other hand… she might have your face but she’s got satoru’s everything else—his competitive streak, his confidence, and definitely his mischievous nature. she’s the one who tiptoes into your bedroom at five in the morning, tapping at her daddy’s shoulders, and putting her little finger over his lip to shush him before he can wake you up; she’s always the one to convince satoru to take her swimming the backyard at the crack of dawn, and why by the time you and your baby boy wake up, she and satoru are already past warm up laps and swimming lessons and onto who can make the splashiest canonball competitions (she always wins because while her tiny body can endure a belly flop, satoru’s years of training physically doesn’t allow him to do it… and maybe because he’s not so competitive when it comes to his baby girl, he’ll always let her win). 

kento’s professional judo career honestly doesn’t last very long. after his first olympic games, you two start dating and he proposes just after he wins gold the second time he’s in the olympics; he does maybe two more years of national competitions while you’re pregnant, and decides that the intense training for the next two years in preparation of a third olympic competition isn’t worth missing time he could spend with you or your baby girl—plus, with all the money he’s made from competitions, winning gold medals, brand ambassadorships, commercials, and collaborations, he had enough money to provide for all of your for the rest of your lives. so, that’s what he does (his dream has always been to be a househusband, anyway...) his previous salaryman career comes in handy when deciding how to invest his money, how to buy a house, how to take care of his friends, how to set up a fund for your daughter, and an extra account or two… just incase more babies come along… 

by the time your baby girl is four, she’s already kento’s biggest fan. she loudly and proudly proclaims to everybody that her daddy was basically superman and won all the shiny trophies and medals in the house from when he was being a superhero. if anyone recognizes kento when they’re out together, she always confirms their suspicions, proudly boasting, “yeah kento is my daddy! he’s a winner!” it always makes kento’s heart swell to hear her praise. he doesn’t compete professionally anymore, but he does train from time to time, and has taken on a few mentees, and your daughter LOVES to watch him coach/train. she’s got her own uniform that she always puts on whenever they go to the gym together, and gets so excited when kento or ino or yuuji pretend to spar with her. 

she’s honestly kento’s mini figure. she’s respectful and reserved, but strong and knows when to fight and how to use her voice. there’s a time when he gets a call from her school saying that she got in a fight, the principal frames it as your daughter needlessly pushing around an older kid, but your daughter is certain in her words when she tells her dad that it was because the kid was being mean to the younger kids, and to her. kento doesn’t say a word to the teachers—doesn’t even fight them sending her home early for the day, because he’s happy to scoop her up and take her out for ice cream and tell her that he’s proud of her.

I am this close 🤏 to taking the word "siblings" away from the Sonic fandom and putting it on a shelf. People here seriously use it as a shorthand for "any characters I don't ship that have a good relationship in canon." It's wild. Y'all are out of control.

Because let me tell you, I've had a (step-)brother for 28 years. And I have never once talked to him like this:

(He's the "prince." It's teasing bordering on flirting. And the other two aren't even borderline.)

This isn't a "they're canon dating" post, it's a "they don't interact like siblings" post. Sisters don't flirt with their brothers unless there's something messed up happening in that family. And Rouge, canonically, flirts with Shadow. Meaning that she definitely doesn't see him as a brother, and likewise, we have no reason to believe that, canonically, Shadow sees her as anything more than a friend.

Prompt 3: Sketchbook

"Sketchbook" immediately brought Beryl to mind, and I thought it would be cute to have her looking through her grandfather's sketchbook. Honestly i have so much sympathy for Ailette and the way she mischaracterises Tesilid.

like i myself also fixate on certain parts of the story and extrapolate maybe a bit too much - although in my defence i've only read like half the story.

-but the same can kind of be said of Ailette? This Tesilid is having a new, currently-being-written chapter of his life. In fact she kind of has things even worse, because her characterisation of Tesilid is based off OG!Tesilid, but current Tesilid had his life and outlook irreversibly changed when they met aged 10. But they never really interacted enough afterwards for Ailette to realise just how much of an impact she made on him. She hasn't really had a strong reason to rethink her characterisation of him. Not to mention that she first read the book with her middle school reading comprehension, which. Probably coloured her interpretation for the worse, at least a little.

I really wish Ailette would go into more detail about her own experience as a reader, to really see better how she's viewing this world and its people.

Which paragraphs are the ones that she thinks defines Tesilid's character? (Mine is "I'm praying that they'll all fail the test and go home".)

Which are the ones that made her cry? (Mine's "Right... you're on the side of this world.")

Which are her favourite silly Tesilid moments that make her so fond of teasing Tesilid? (iliac bones)

I feel like the fun part of these kinds of isekai story is that. Whatever reaction you had towards Tesilid, be it "wow what a cute kid" or "i'm going to cry, i need to wrap him in a blanket where the world can't hurt him anymore" or "actually he should just destroy the world tbh i would support him", she's been there first and has been doing for at least 10 years, she's the OG. And she's super intense about it too. Like she can say "I need to save him because the story dictates it" all she wants, but the way she reacts so intensely and immediately to Tesilid in danger really speaks volumes of how much emotional investment she has in this guy. Like idk if she really rotates him in her head as much as I do - that might be a me problem - but if you rotate a character in your head enough times while fixating on certain moments and not others, you probably would end up with a biased interpretation of the character. Especially if you don't have someone else to bounce ideas off. And this gets worse if you're actually living in the character's world, because characters in stories serve certain narrative functions, so all their actions which get included in the narration are inherently biased towards portraying them in a certain way that serves said narrative function. But humans are a lot messier and more dynamic.

i just. shakes her up and down. love the concept of an isekai protagonist and the OG protagonist that they love so much.

anyway this whole post is a testament to how much Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint changed the way I interpret fiction and especially isekai stories. Not me anthromorphozing Ailette as if she's really a person and fellow fan who exists and isn't a character lmaoo, i'm definitely not having a "we're all fragments of kim dokja" moment, no sir. i definitely didn't subconsciously draw connections between ORV's isekai'd MC and myself and S-Class Heroine's isekai'd MC and our commonalities as readers who rotate the same story in their heads very many times, and suddenly make a realisation that's actually more relevant to ORV than the actual story that prompted all this. one whole year after i last read ORV, because ORV's story is So Much and so monumental that i'm still haunted by it and figuring it out and it lowkey never left my mind, even after a whole year. (please read orv.) like there are a lot of otome isekai stories about isekai'd MCs realising that the people in their lives don't line up with the OG characters, but none of these stories ever made me viscerally realise what it was probably like for kim dokja, because none of them had isekai'd MCs be that unironically obsessed with their OG protags, and more importantly none of them made me constantly rotate the OG protagonist in my head the way S-Class Heroine does. Han Sooyoung was right, you get as much out of a story as you put in to reading it and re-reading it and re-interpreting it. By putting so much time into S-Class Heroine I accidentally made some relevations about the other story that I was always trying to figure out at the back of my mind. Holy shit.

As much as Toriyama handles his female characters terribly this chapter was still pretty cute to reread. I love how Goku just instantly accepts living with her and just wants to know her name. Even when he remembers her and realizes the marriage proposal was a misunderstanding he's just like welp, i gotta keep my promises. Such a good boy.

I have this headcanon about instead of Quaritch finding his old body at the shack with the AMP suit, he finds a proper grave when the recoms are sent to the now abandoned Hell's Gate.

(Like the humans who stayed likely abandoned it when the RDA returned)

They find a grave for everyone of them (and Paz) in the big area just within Hell's Gate's fences. They all have little grave markers, some are crosses, and others are stone or metal, but all have their names and death dates plus little symbols for their respective faiths if they had one.

(You'd find most of this on dog tags)

There's little epitaph's on each marker, all simple and suited for soldiers.

I'd imagine it's jarring to see your own grave, but the conflicting emotions of knowing the Na'vi had to have helped with giving the soldiers a proper burial, and Quaritch knows that Jake had to have been behind it because who else would have made sure to give them proper human burials?

It'd be made worse (or just angstier) if it was clear that despite the compound being abandoned, someone is still coming down to care for the graveyard despite the risk.

I feel like it'd complicate a lot of feelings for the recoms, knowing that their enemies went through the trouble of giving dead soldiers proper funeral rites. They didn't do a mass grave or leave the bodies where they died, they buried them individually with care and respect.

And the recoms know if the roles were reversed, the RDA wouldn't have done the same. They wouldn't even consider it.

this... this hurts.

I feel like humans lost their humanity and decency so long ago, that you stopped expecting basic decency from anyone. I think this was especially true for members of the RDA; when was the last time any of them had truly been treated with any sort of basic human decency? when was the last time any of them were treated with softness or kindness? had they ever experienced it in their new lives, did they have any actual memories of being cared for? Cause the RDA clearly treated them like assets, replaceable in every way. they treated themselves like they had no value, like they were born and raised to die. Humans themselves had become so destructive and bloodthirsty that they killed their own planet, each other, a whole new world, and its people out of greed.

So to stumble across not only you're grave, but a show of remorse and kindness would be a lot. it would be so foreign, but also so... right?

none of them would know how to feel knowing their enemies, the people they tried to slaughter, people of the same people they did in fact slaughter, took the time to treat their bodies with care, and they continued to care for them long after their deaths. for 16 years, they were being cared for, and now they're back to do it all over again? to wage war on those who couldn't even bring themselves to disrespect the bodies of their aggressors?

I can only imagine quaritch hunting jake down just to ask "why?" cause like you said, he knows enough to know jake was involved. he wants to know why things are so different here, why the people are so good-natured even to those who don't deserve it. part of him wonder's if he is capable of that.
