Not an invitation to cocoon yourself in a self-care bubble for four years, but a reminder to the 24/7 worriers that you can literally write "To Do on Monday: Worry about ________" on a post-it note and stop worrying about it for one day while you recharge.

anything that contains the phrase “secret BBC memo reveals” intrigues me automatically ngl but I want you all to know that as far as I can gather, the facts are even better than this headline
which is to say, this was part of an initiative in the early 1970s that not only featured marginalized groups on BBC programming, but made moves towards handing them editorial control – the BBC had to approve proposals, but after that, the station’s role was primarily to provide technical resources, facilities, and copyright handling. (another notable program under this initiative featured Black teachers discussing racism in the school system, and a link to that – plus discussion of the hurdles it faced – can be found here).
the program on trans experience was aired in 1973.
The programme, featuring trans women, began: “Jokes about ‘the operation’ are all that most people know about transexualism [sic]. Tonight’s group discuss their situation in a more serious and comprehensive way, and draw attention to the many difficulties they endure”.
you can watch Open Door: Transex Liberation Group here (as well as other archived LGBTQ programming from BBC).

the part where marx said the petit bourgeoisie will eventually return to being part of the proletariat? that's what we're going to see in rhe next few weeks, months, and years as the economy plummets and only oligarchs can afford to continue to own the means of production. by petit bourgeoisie i mean small business owners, independent lawyers (small firms), restaurant owners, etc..
marx said academics and artisans were outside the divide of proletariat and bourgeoisie because they are not a part of the inherent class struggle between owner and employee. this is where marx is wrong. with a rise of fascist oligarchy we are already seeing a rise in anti-intellectualism. we are seeing artificial intelligence prioritized over an educated populace. we are seeing academia systematically defunded and made unattainable for anyone but those wealthy enough to favor oligarchy anyways. would-be academics become the proletariat when academia is destroyed.
artisans too are hurt by the oligarchy - our current consumerist hellscape demands things quickly and perfectly, without the perfect imperfections of human labor. artisans are replaced by machines that make hundreds of mugs an hour as opposed to perhaps a dozen at most, if they're thrown rather than slip-cast. artisans become the proletariat when art becomes manufactured and sterile.
eventually everything boils down to a binary. it is not proletariat and bourgeoisie in the way marx wrote. it is oligarch and everyone else.
value your art. value your flawed, chipped teacups. value your academia. value your imperfect grammar and ink-stained fingers. if you don't, techno-feudalist oligarchy has already won you.
note: i'm not a total communist. marx had some good theory on labor and the evils of capitalism, however, his social theory requires homogeny and atheism. full homogeny is only possible through genocide/ethnic cleansing and i am not an atheist. additionally, marx's vision of communism would never work on a large scale without authoritarianism 🫶

I believe in Luigi Mangione.
I believe in the shooter who killed that CEO.
I do not believe they are the same person.
I believe the NYPD is lying to us and putting it on an innocent man to prove a point.
Do not let that point be proven.

Something on my mind lately.
Full grown adults online who wholeheartedly refer to any sexual expression or nsfw content as repulsive and indicative as some moral failing (calling those engaging with said content degenerates, gooners, etc.) put me on edge a little bit.
Being sex repulsed and general nsfw content making you uncomfortable is perfectly fine, and you definitely don't have to engage with it (the block button and tag filter are free). But, I don't know hot take, I think acting like people are freaks (derogatory) because they engage with and produce nsfw, and spreading the notion that they are is kind of dangerous since that's very similar rhetoric used to justify violence against LGBTQ people and the like.
Like, any adult making and posting that content to their own blogs and accounts, so long as all parties depicted and participating can and do consent, aren't the problem when it comes to NSFW online. It's people who violate others boundaries and consent and/or produce actually criminal content (cp for example) who are. Being horny on main isn't the problem, it's shitty people and predators that are.
I don't know I just really wish people online would put in the work to understand what separates something as genuinely morally wrong and harmful and something that just makes you personally uncomfortable.
Because I have a good example of people who base what's right and wrong solely on their sense of comfort and tastes, who lump in any with a different sexual expression than their own with actually dangerous people, and they're all the ones calling any trans or queer person a pedophile.

See the thing is that if you keep saying "I bet everyone hates me I'm so annoying" is that its annoying. And people hate it. So it's a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy isn't it. You know what's also a self fulfilling prophecy? Acting like you're hot shit until you become hot shit

I don’t know how to explain to some discourse damaged people on the unholy trinity of social-media-websites-whose-names-start-with-a-T that romantic subplots in non romance media are not put there with the sole purpose of giving the audience the warm fuzzies; that, like any other element in a story, a romantic subplot should serve the themes and central thesis statement of its larger narrative; and that sometimes the most adequate choice of a pairing or approach to romance for a given story is not necessarily the one you personally think would be the cutest / healthiest / most progressive

They removed all Transgender references references from the Stonewall website.
It's not on Trans people to fix this. If we're not here for each other, what are we here for?
This doesn't stand with me. If it stands with you, you can leave this page and never return.
Get the word out. For Marsha. Let's become a problem.
