Thanks for the link, I'm on my iPad so couldn't see the rules! Ok, so the crew are on shore leave and Jim takes Bones to an alpine cabin (maybe just as friends for now - both can be pining). Storm hits and they can't contact anyone, just as Bones falls sick. So Jim has to look after him until they can be rescued. Basically some sick Bones, concerned/caring Jim and a happy, McKirky ending ☺️ you can alter any aspect of my prompt, these are my main requirements 😉 Thanks!

“What are we doing here?” Bones asks, dropping his bag on the hard wooden floor. “Look,” Jim says, dropping his bag right next to Bones’, “you diagnosed me with stress-” “I never did that,” Bones replies. “- and I know you are. So I just thought: weekend away, just the two of us. We can go hiking tomorrow, there’s a BBQ here, and a big TV in the living. We’ll watch the game at night, and… did I mention the hot tub?” “You had me at hot tub,” Bones says, and Jim snorts. “That was literally the end of my sentence.” “Okay,” Bones says, “but I’m taking the bedroom.” Jim watches Bones’ backside as he walks away. “Wait,” Jim says, “there’s only one bedroom?”

The first night they’re there, the weather is fantastic. It’s chilly, yeah. But the hot tub makes up for that. They sit together, drink beer in the warm water. At night, they watch a game on TV while enjoying toast and soup Jim brought along from the small shop a few miles away. But Bones starts falling asleep on the couch after at least four beers and a movie’s on. It’s honestly among the best things Jim has ever seen. “You know,” Jim says, hand on Bones’ leg, “we can always continue this party in the bedroom.” He does that extremely over the top wink, and Bones laughs. “G'night, Jim.”

It’s grey and eerily quiet when Jim wakes up. His plans are to have a quiet breakfast, go for a long hike. They can even go hunting and fishing, and have a BBQ on the porch at night. Honestly, that sounds pretty great. As long as there’s another night of Bones stripping to get into the hot tub, Jim’s all for it.

But they never actually get very far. When Bones wakes up for breakfast, he looks pale and he has very little apetite. Not just that, it starts snowing. Which is incredible at first, because growing up in a world of climate change, Georgia is mostly warm and sunny all year around. Jim finds out, to his amazement, that Bones has never actually experienced snow before. So they go outside, Bones forgets about feeling a bit sick for a while. And he looks so good, dressed in that warm comfortable jacket, snowflakes sticking to his hair. They walk down to the lake. Fishing isn’t so bad before the water’s frozen over. But the snow continues falling, and the wind is cold. Bones pretends to be fine, and -fuck, he looks handsome- but Jim can tell he’s not feeling himself. And the walk back is terrible; a full on snow storm hits them and they make it back to the house both feeling thoroughly cold. “I’m gonna take a shower,” Bones says, and Jim grins. “Want me to join?” he asks. Bones rolls his eyes at that. He doesn’t technically say no, but Jim decides not to follow him after all.

Things get considerably worse quick; Bones gets a full on flu. At night, Jim hears him cough and groan, but at least it’s over tomorrow. They can go back home.

Or not, because their comms are down because of the storm. For some reason, no one is reacting to any of their messages, it’s just static. Bones is getting progressively more sick, too. He doesn’t really eat any solid food - which is okay, because the most they have is canned crap from back when they could still make it to the local shop. Now, though, the snow is thick and there’s just no way. Jim suggests, though, but Bones shakes his head. “Are you crazy?” he asks, “you might get lost in the snow and freeze to death. I don’t want to be stuck here by myself.” “Aw, you’d miss me too much?” Jim grins, nudging his elbow. Bones’ skin feels hot and Jim reaches out, pressing a hand on Bones’ forehead. “You playin’ doctor now?” Bones asks, tilting his head to the side, and ignoring Jim’s worried frown. “You’re sick.” “No shit,” Bones says, “who brought me to this place?” “This place is fine!” Jim counters, “I don’t control the weather.” Bones huffs, quietly turning towards the TV. He falls asleep pretty soon after, and Jim pulls him in closer when he feels the other shiver.

Jim did bring some chicken, so he makes chicken soup to the best of his abilities. It’s quite salty, but that seems to make Bones feel a little better. Even if just for a little while.

A day after they were supposed to leave, they’re still there. It’s infuriating, and now Jim starts feeling sick, too. Not as bad as Bones, honestly, but definitely a cold. So Jim curls up next to Bones on the couch, both covered under a bunch of blankets. “I hate you,” Bones mutters under his breath, and Jim smiles faintly. “This wasn’t supposed to be so bad,” Jim says, and Bones huffs. “That sounds like your life’s motto.”

It takes another two days before Uhura gets through to them on their communicator. “Jim? Captain, are you there?” Jim wakes up to the sound of his communicator, pressed closely against Bones’ chest while both of them sleep under a pile of blankets. “Uhura,” Jim says, voice sore as he speaks. “James,” Uhura says, sighing in relief, “where are you two? We were scheduled to leave Earth two days ago! Please don’t tell me your stupid plan to seduce Bones worked so well you forgot to leave.” “We’re stuck,” Jim says, sitting up straight and hushing her quiet, “can you beam us out?”

They make it back to the Enterprise finally, and Bones gives both of them a flu shot immediately. Almost instantly, Jim feels better. Still a vague headache, but Jim feels the flu eb away quick enough. "So," Bones says, "I heard that." "Heard what?" "Uhura was talking about your elaborate plan to seduce me." "Ah," Jim replies, throwing him a small grin and he rubs the back of his neck, "yeah, about that-" "You organized a weekend away to a quiet cabin to seduce me." "Okay, don't call it that," Jim warns him, "it was supposed to be just a friendly weekend away, okay? And if something happened, great. Fantastic. But that wasn't, I swear, that wasn't the--" He's shut up when Bones leans in, kisses him and pressing him back against the bio bed. Jim's hands find their way around his shoulders, and he kisses him back. His skin is still a little hot, but Jim feels instantly better. Bones looks better, too, when he pulls away. "That's the most romantic thing someone's ever done for a friend," Bones says, and Jim smiles. "You've always been more than just a friend to me."

Prompt: Bones is called down to some alien planet to help with a nasty plague during what should have been a festive holiday season aboard the Enterprise. He ends up getting infected and has to spend Christmas in quarantine. Will he make it to New Year’s?

Spock glances up at him and Leonard looks away, avoiding his eyes and his assessing gaze both. He folds his arms over his chest, knowing even as he does it that it’s a dead give away to how he feels.

“Why are you hiding in the underbelly of San Francisco, Doctor?”

Leonard snorts and scowls, “None’a your damn business.”

“Whuh.”

They both turn as Jim wakes, shifts on the table, his eyes fluttering open.

“Ow. Fuck, Bones, that fuckin’ hurt.”

B: [Academy era - Kinky!AF untitled NSFW/NC17]

He presses hard and deep into Jim, hips digging into Jim's ass hard enough to bruise, and comes with a low groan, painting Jim's insides with spurt after spurt, emptying into the tight clench of Jim’s body. Aftershocks tingle through his system and he doesn't move, stays buried, keeps pressing kisses and nibbling bites to the fresh hickies on Jim's shoulders as his heart rate slows and his skin cools.

“God, I don't wanna move,” Jim whispers into the silence, fingers fiddling with Leonard's, his hole clenching tight as if to hold him there and making them both sigh.  

But Leonard has plans so he pulls his right hand out from under Jim, gently disentangles his left from Jim's - Jim protests with a whine - and, careful not to move his hips where his softening cock is still locked inside Jim, he reaches back into the drawer. Jim's looking the other way so he doesn't see exactly what Leonard's bought.  

“Darlin’,” he presses the endearment into Jim’s skin as he leans back down over him briefly. “I gotta surprise for ya. Stay still for me?”

C: Through Everything Together [Academy through Beyond H/C - Ch.4, I selected a random 7 sentences because the entire fic is in one document and I’ve published Ch.1-3 already, so this excerpt is from like page 13]

A group of cadets jostle him as they pass and his bag slips off his shoulder; he’s pretty sure that was one of Finnegan’s lot, still at him, even now, despite Finnegan himself having been dishonorably washed out. He pauses to right it, and when he starts moving again he walks smack into a woman in clinic scrubs, “Oh! Sorry.”

The woman rights herself with a huff, briefly touches her platinum blond hair, then pauses and looks at him, “Kirk? Jim Kirk?”

Jim blinks and hopes to god this isn’t one of those ‘your father was a hero’ conversations, that’s what usually happens when he’s recognised by someone he doesn’t know; he pulls on the charming smile just in case. “That’s me, ma’am. Can I help you?”

“Christine Chapel, and yes. Leonard,” she pauses again, glances over her shoulder and Jim, recognising her name from stories Bones has told about the clinic, loses the false charm in a heartbeat, nearly grabs her to ask what’s happened to Bones as his good cheer disappears.

D. He Who Came And Never Left [Augment!Kirk AU - another random selection, because this chapter is only 3 pages long so far oh no]

He’s deigning to take some notes - he’ll pass the exams, he always does, he can do most of them in his goddamn sleep, but showing willing in the actual lecture can’t hurt - when a comm comes through with a quiet notification. The cadet next to him frowns at him again, but he ignores her and thumbs the comm open.

He reads in silent consternation, eyebrows rising until he snorts and rubs the bridge of his nose. “Goddamnit, Jim.”

This time the cadet next to him actually shushes him and he gives her the full force of his glare, wishing he could tell her to back off. Instead he bites his tongue as she quails under the full force of his irritation and turns back to the lecturer again.

Apparently the kid has figured out how to work the computers and has been trying to access both their medical information and historical documents. Looks like they’re going to have to bring that conversation with a psychologist forward. He’s not surprised - if Jim is what he thinks, the kid has far more brains than anyone suspects.

1: Your favourite non-canon ship?Definitely McKirk. No doubt. Though I don't believe they're not actually canon.

14: Is there a ship you feel gets undeserved hate in fandom?Not much in my experience. I notice the occasional tensions between Stony/Stucky fans, as well as Sterek/Stydia fans. I can't immediately think of any ship that gets shit on a lot (that I ship).

22: Is there a ship you’ll never admit you have?OK, so. For a very short while I was oddly into Waylon Park/ Eddie Gluskin; the main protagonist & main villain from the Outlast DLC. Which is odd because generally that whole non-con relationship is such a big turn off for me. I guess I just briefly got caught reading about them too much because I was trying to play through the game hahah. 

Generally though, my ships are all healthy adults, both m/m, f/m, and f/f, and all pretty vanilla, so I don’t have ships I would be embarrassed to admit shipping.

The first chapter is done and posted! If you’ve been following my me for at least the past two weeks you’ve experienced me whining about a fic I was working on and well HERE WE ARE FOLKS

This is an STID fic. Very heavy McKirk. Chril if you put two and two together, but will be much more in your face later. Pike is gone (I'M SORRY). The plan is to detail the days of Jim’s coma that good ol’ JJ skipped over. 

THERE WILL BE ANOTHER VERSION OF THIS WITH PIKE ALIVE AND KICKING. Thank @gracieminabox for pointing out the fact that fuck it, I can do both versions. Be looking for it in the coming week or two. I’m simply perfecting my Dad Pike.

GOODBYE, 2017.  HELLO, 2018!

Yes, that’s right, McSpirk Holiday Fest of 2017 has officially ended.  Like any challenge blog, the Fest had its challenges and successes during the year but who’s counting anything except the successes, because, hey, NEW FANFICS, FANART, AND FANMIXES.  And each one is made to enrich our McSpirk experience.

That said, thank you to all Creators.  Thank you to all prompt submitters.  Thank you to all cheerleaders and friendly word-warring companions.  Thank you to the mod staff.  This challenge blog has been running full-steam because of each of you!

The mods of @mcspirkholidayfest will soon begin preparations for kicking off the 2018 Fest.  If you joined us in years prior, wanted to join but could not, or simply wish to give our challenge a try sometime this year, we welcome any and all participation.  As always, stay tuned for upcoming announcements, potential new features, and blog updates.  And to follow up this celebration of 2017′s last round fills, we will shortly issue a round-up post of all Unfilled Prompts which found homes throughout the year as bonus fills.

He plans to bring his hired date to a holiday event, hoping to goad the other professor into dating him so as to save him from his terrible life choices. The self-confessed felon who’s hired to be the worst date ever? Turns out to be James T. Kirk, and suddenly the professors are both… fascinated.

A Jim and Bones moment post STID, as requested by @berrystartrekkingwithsuperlock. This will eventually be part of a fic I’m working on. This is also a pretty rough draft, just so you know. 

The hinges let out a low creak as the door opens. Len knows it’s Jim without even looking. He takes a couple steps in the door, and shuts it behind him.

“I was starting to think you weren’t going to come back before dark,” Len admits, still watching his toes curl around the carpet under his feet.

“Sulu said he was worried about getting lost on the way back. I think he just wanted me to come back with him,” Jim responds. “I just needed time to think, Bones. I think we both-”

“I’ve had weeks to fucking think, Jim. Don’t tell me I need time to think.” Len looks to Jim, eyes narrowed. Jim says nothing, and stares right back. “What? Nothing to say for once?”

“What do you want me to say, Bones? You want me to apologize? ‘Cause I can’t do that. I would do the same thing over again.”  

“I know you would.”

“So then what?”

“You didn’t even comm me, Jim. I didn’t know what you had done until Scotty came. He beat the body bag by thirty seconds, maybe.”

“Bones, there wasn’t anything you could do! I wasn’t even sure I could make it through the climb let alone the decomm sequence-”

“So you comm Spock instead?!”

“I told Scotty not to comm you! He tried, and I told him not to.”

“What?”

“I told him not to. I asked Scotty not to comm you. So he commed Spock. There wasn’t anything you could do, Bonesy. The crew in medbay needed you. You could help them. You couldn’t help me.”

Len, to put it simply, explodes. “That’s not a good enough reason, damn it! That’s not a good enough reason, Jim! I didn’t get to say goodbye. I didn’t know that you had decided to play hero. No, Jim, instead I had to continue rushing about the fucking sick bay without a damn clue. And then I had to listen to one of my best friends tell me that the man I fucking loved was dead.” His hands are flying wildly at this point, and he’s forgotten sitting on the bed. Instead, he stands and stares Jim down. “And it’s not like I had time to process it either, because then you were there in a fucking body bag. Do you know what it felt like to look at you lying in a damn body bag, Jim?! I had to stand there and look at you and think about how I wasn’t there! You died, and I wasn’t there! I didn’t get to say goodbye, Jim,” his voice softens as it begins to crack. “You didn’t let me.”

Jim swallows hard, and closes his eyes. He doesn’t open them, instead speaking softly. “I couldn’t look at you, Bones. I couldn’t look at you on the other side of that glass and know what I was doing to you. I couldn’t do that to you. And I knew that if it were you on the other side of the door, I wouldn’t be able to hold it together. I didn’t want you-” his voice cracks, and he stops, takes a breath, and starts again. “I didn’t want you to remember me begging you for help, and telling you how much it hurt when there was nothing you could do. Because I don’t know that I could have stopped myself. And you… you didn’t deserve to see that.”  He opens his eyes, and they’re glistening, his baby blues even brighter than usual. “And there was more you could do in medbay. The people in there, they had a chance. I didn’t think I did.”

“I didn’t think you had a chance either. That serum,” Len pauses, lets out a wry chuckle, “that was one hell of a Hail Mary. I was terrified it wouldn’t work. Jesus, Jim, I was so scared of losing you for good. I kept looking at Phil, and seeing what he was going through after losing Chris and I… Jim, I didn’t what to feel like that the rest of my life. I couldn’t. I couldn’t lose you. And I never want to feel like that again.” Len sits back on the edge of the bed, returning his gaze to the carpet. Jim’s feet begin to shuffle along the carpet.

“Bones… I’m not- I’m not sorry for what I did. I would do it again, if I needed to. I couldn’t stand by and let you all die. You have Jo, and Hikaru has Ben, and everyone has their families, and you all… you’re the only family I have, Bones. I couldn’t lose all of you to something I could stop. But I am sorry for what it did to you. And I’m sorry for being a downright ass about it the past few weeks. I thought I could just lock it away, pretend it never happened and things would go back to the way they were. But… Things can’t be the way they were now, can they?” Jim settles on the bed next to Len. Len sighs, and looks up enough to take Jim’s hand in his own.

“No. They can’t.”
