Bernard the Elf x elf!Reader: Cider
Word Count: 479 Warnings/Notes: Gender neutral and elf reader, established relationship, nicknames, elf!reader is locked up in a cell within E.L.F.S. headquarters, crying, a tiny bit of angst (I swear there's a funny reason for this situation! 😅), and fluff. Summary: Bernard rushes to E.L.F.S. HQ upon the news of the elf!reader being taken there because of a not-so-nice reason.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~
December, the height of the holiday season. And in the case of the North Pole, the busiest time of the year; the countdown to Christmas. Toys were still being made, painted, and accessorized for the big night. With that in mind, it was not a wonder as to why the head elf Bernard was anxiously rushing toward the E.L.F.S. headquarters.
The main door to the E.L.F.S. headquarters swung open, and by the hesitant relief on the elves’ faces, you knew exactly who had walked in. The specific frantic steps from his boots entered your ears and you turned around on the bench. You could not face him. The pit of your stomach hung heavy as if struck by a dense fruitcake. And as you heard him speak, you huddled even tighter to yourself.
“Have they served their time?” Bernard asked of the elves. “Yes,” they replied, but sighed. “But they are taking it a lot harder on themselves than we ever could.” Bernard’s brows scrunched beneath his curly locks. “What are they in for?” “Shoving mistletoe up another elf’s nose.” Bernard gasped and turned to see your shoulders quaking in your sobs behind the licorice barred cell. “I had too much cider,” you cried. Stepping close to the sugary bars, he asked further, but to you. “But why’d you do it?” Recalling the encounter to vividly, you responded honestly. “They kept saying that the best Christmas song was Baby It’s Cold Outside. Insistently,” you sobbed in your sleeves. “I’m the poster-elf for the Naughty List!”
Most of the elves in the room winced and looked to the Head Elf hopefully. “We’re releasing them under your good authority and…for the sake of our ears, please.” “I’ll take care of everything,” he assured with a nod.
They unlocked the door of licorice and looked over your hunched form. “You’re free to go.” Head low, you walked out of the cell quietly and followed beside Bernard out of E.L.F.S. HQ. The walk remained silent all of the way to your shared home.
As soon as Bernard closed the door, tears began again. Taking you gently into his arms, he tried to console you. “You’re alright, sugarplum.” “I’m over a thousand years old,” you sniffled, “I should know better.” “You do,” he soothed. “You are just a very passionate elf. And I love you for that.” You looked up at him with shimmering eyes. “You do?” “Of course I do. I really do.” He kissed your forehead sweetly. “You’re my gumdrop.” The tears welling up turned to those of joy as you smiled at your husband of a few hundred years. “Sugarpie,” you awed as the pair of you gazed at one another adoringly. “Maybe lay off on the cider for a while,” Bernard suggested, and you could not agree more. “Yeah…”
"Holiday And Cake Merriment" Bernard the elf x elf! Reader
(A/N: @nibbles-bailey148 Requested a Bernard and a sick reader. I leaned more to the fluff. I've never written for Bernard this early in the year. The last Bernard insert reader was the earliest one I've done.
Warnings: None. Fluff?
Word Count: ... I'm on my phone.)
~~~
Finally. Merriment was in full swing. December was every elf's favorite month. Everyday lead to Christmas with joyous anticipation. Not a day went by without building toys. All for the magic, Christmas spirit, and the believers of that magic.
Music vibrated through the air of the stable. Cheers mingled with various dances lead by vintage shoes as another successful delivery of gifts was complete.
Celebrations would go on for a while before elves headed home or skipped to the Toy Workshop in a rush of excitement. Every year almost delightfully the same or better.
Yours was neither. At least not until Bernard was forced to walk you home.
"There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. You know that?"
You gave him the side-eye.
Bernard raised his hands in defense.
Leaning back into the couch, you groaned. Oh, so pitifully. A small hint of tired dramatics.
"I'm partied out." You murmured.
Bernard adjusted your blanket and sat down beside you without disturbing you too much.
"Merry Christmas, my party elf." He pecked his lips to your cheek.
"Party elf?"
"Would you rather: cake devouring elf?"
"No." You wrapped your arms around your stomach and leaned into Bernard's warmth. "No more cake. Please."
The logs in the fireplace popped and crackled. A cozy Christmas morning. Still early. Extremely early.
"Do you want any more hot chocolate?" He asked quietly.
"No thank you. And.... I think I'll just fall asleep here. I'm too comfortable."
Bernard kissed the top of your head as you nuzzled his sweater. "Just this once."
"Again."
He pulled you closer.
"Merry Christmas, Bernard."
"Merry Christmas."

Cuddles are best by the Fireplace
word count- 957
Description: Bernard and You finally take a break from work; time to enjoy some much need snuggling!
The North Pole was a wonderland of swirling snow and icy magic, but nothing felt as enchanting as this—the quiet intimacy of being wrapped up in Bernard’s presence, safe and warm by the fire. The flames danced and flickered in the stone hearth, casting long shadows that intertwined with the glimmers of festive lights strung around the room. Everything felt softer in this light, like the whole world had slowed down just for the two of you.
You felt Bernard sigh contentedly against you, his entire body melting into yours as he relaxed. His curls brushed against your chin, tickling slightly, and you couldn’t resist nuzzling into his hair. It smelled like peppermint and pine, mixed with the faintest hint of gingerbread—a scent that was uniquely Bernard, comforting and familiar. You tightened your hold around his waist, pulling him closer, as if you could never get enough of him.
“You’re so warm,” he murmured, his voice muffled as he pressed his cheek against your chest. His words sent a shiver of delight down your spine, and you felt your heart swell with affection. He tilted his head just enough to glance up at you, his dark eyes gleaming with contentment and a touch of mischief. “Do you know how hard it is to find warmth like this up here?” he teased.
You chuckled softly, feeling his laughter vibrate through your chest. “Well, I’m glad I can be your personal heater,” you replied, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. His eyes fluttered closed at the touch, and you felt the smallest smile form against your chest.
Bernard shifted a bit, snuggling deeper into your embrace, his hands sliding up to rest on your shoulders. His fingers brushed along your collarbone, tracing absent patterns as he let himself be held. You could feel the tension slowly leaving his body, each of his breaths growing steadier and deeper. It wasn’t often that he let his guard down like this, but when he did, it was a sight that never failed to make your heart ache in the best way.
Your hand found its way under the edge of his sweater, your fingertips grazing the small of his back, and he shivered, letting out a quiet gasp. His skin was warm and soft beneath your touch, and you stroked gentle circles there, soothing and comforting. Bernard let out a breathy laugh, the sound muffled against your chest, and you could feel his lips curve into a smile.
“Ticklish?” you asked, grinning as you continued to run your fingers over his back.
He wrinkled his nose, giving you a mock glare, but there was no real annoyance behind it. “Maybe,” he admitted, his voice light and playful. “But don’t you dare use that against me, or I’ll never let you be the big spoon again.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, the sound echoing in the warm, fire-lit room. “I wouldn’t dream of it,” you said, though your hands continued to wander gently, tracing the dip of his spine and the curves of his muscles. You could feel how strong he was, the years of hard work and dedication he had poured into managing Santa’s workshop, but in this moment, he was soft and pliant under your touch, completely vulnerable.
Bernard’s hands slid up to your neck, and he pulled himself up just enough to press his forehead against yours. His curls tumbled down around his face, brushing against your cheeks, and you could see every detail in his eyes—the flecks of gold, the warmth that seemed endless. You held his gaze, your breath mingling in the small space between you.
“Thank you,” he whispered, his voice barely more than a breath. “For being here. For... everything.” His words were heavy with emotion, and you knew how much it meant for him to let himself be this open, this unguarded.
Your heart felt impossibly full, and you leaned forward to close the small distance between you, pressing your lips to his. It was a soft, lingering kiss, filled with all the love you had for him, and you felt him smile against your mouth. When you pulled back, his cheeks were flushed, his eyes shining.
“I’d be anywhere you are,” you replied, your voice steady and full of conviction. “You mean everything to me.”
Bernard let out a shaky breath, and his arms wrapped around you even tighter, as if he was afraid to let you go. He settled back against your chest, his head resting beneath your chin, and you cradled him close, feeling the rhythm of his heartbeat against your skin. You both stayed like that for a long while, wrapped up in each other, the fire crackling softly beside you.
Your hand drifted to his side, your fingers brushing over his ribs in gentle, soothing motions. He hummed, the sound vibrating through your chest, and you felt him relax even further, his body melting into yours like he was made to fit there. The warmth between you felt like a protective cocoon, shielding you both from the world outside.
“I could stay like this forever,” Bernard whispered, his voice drowsy and full of contentment.
You kissed the top of his head, your lips lingering in his hair. “Me too,” you murmured. “Me too.”
The wind howled outside, but inside, there was only the gentle rise and fall of your breathing, the soft crackle of the fire, and the quiet, unbreakable connection between you and Bernard. It was a moment that felt endless, like time had paused just to let you savor the warmth and love that filled the room.
And as you held him, you knew that this—being with him, loving him, sharing this perfect stillness—was all you needed.

“No, no, no, no, no! This is all wrong. Who approved this?” On the floor today, was a very upset head elf. The jingles in every step were starting to get on everyone’s nerves because he would not stop pacing.
“Talk to the head elf of the design department, boss.”
With three weeks left till the big day, Santa’s workshop was over run. There were so many things that needed to go right in order for the night to go smoothly. And it just seemed that everything was going horribly. Bears were not as fuzzy, dolls were missing shoes, and to top it off, the signature music box for this year was decorated in shades of green rather than purple.
“Well, I am off to go speak with that elf.” Bernard was feeling the stress of every elf in the building, and then some. Mumbling and muttering to himself, the elf was starting to feel the weight of the entire North Pole on his shoulders. He would not be getting adequate rest until after Santa takes off in his sleigh on the 25th. The head elf stomped his way to the office of the lead design elf. It was not until he barged in that he remembered just who had recently taken up the position last Christmas.
“Oh, hi Bernard.” She looked up from her paperwork to see the dark haired elf stop dead in his tracks. His lips were pulled taught in an awkward smile, and his hands fiddled with themselves.
“Hi.” Bernard squeaked, cursing himself for letting his emotions get the better of him. But there was just something about her. Maybe it was the fact that her ears blushed with that perfect rosy shade. Or that the sparkles on her cheeks seemed to be a beacon of light no matter how dim her environment. It could be that her hair cascaded down her back in a beautiful waterfall that was kept out of her face with the most adorable ribbon that Bernard had ever seen. He was vaguely aware of the fact that she was talking to him, or at least trying to.
“Something I can do for you?” She turned fully away from her paperwork to give him her full attention. The male elf tried to speak several times, but just ended up looking like a fish out of water with his mouth gaping open then closed. He went to leave the room, but stopped his hand on the knob and turned around again. Taking a deep breath, Bernard found his voice.
“The music boxes.” That was all he could get out, before his air got trapped in his lungs as he saw the sparkles on her cheeks.
“What about them?” It was clear that she was not as affected as he was being the vicinity of the other. Or maybe she was just better at functioning, while his IQ was automatically slashed in half.
“They’re green instead of purple. Who approved that?” Bernard tried to sound stern but it only came out breathy the longer he was there.
“Oh, Santa did. I thought we might get more of them out the workshop if we did green rather than purple. And we did. We’ve gotten so many asks for them by the children.” Her hands were clasped in front of her as she leaned on the desk.
“Why wasn’t I told?” Again, he tried to sound and look stern with his hands on his hips.
“We sent the notification to you. It may have gotten lost in all that paperwork that you also have. I mean, I have a lot being head of a department. Can’t imagine what it’s like being the head elf of everyone.” She teased, laughing lightly at the thought. Bernard thought that his legs were going to give out when he heard that sound but he remained strong.
“What about the teddy bears? They’re not super fuzzy right now.” He countered, hoping to find something to make his trip in here justified. Bernard would never admit that just seeing her was worth the effort.
“We’re waiting on that new extra soft, hypoallergenic fur that is being made. Once they do, which it should be done today, those bears will be nice and fuzzy.” Propping her chin on her hand, Bernard was trying not to kid himself in believing she was looking at him the same way he looked at her. But as he opened his mouth to counter her, she beat him to it. “Yes, they will be done in time for Christmas.”
“What about the dolls not having shoes?” Once more, he tried to be the head elf, but he was weak to whatever magic she had casted upon him.
“Now that I will definitely have to come down on to the floor to check out. That’s an odd thing to be missing.” Feeling satisfied that the trip was not wasted in a professional sense, Bernard spared one more look at the elf in front of him. With an awkward wave, and shy smile, he turned to leave.
“Bernard!” She called, making the elf turn around faster than he would ever care to admit.
“You know, I could use a mid day cocoa. Maybe a certain someone would like to accompany me on my walk around the workshop? Just to make sure everything is going smoothly while I check in with the elves.” Tidying up her desk a little bit, she slipped from her chair and made her way to the door where Bernard waited.
“Well, um…” he started , looking down at her, ”would you like to join me for a cocoa and a walk?” Bernard asked shyly, holding his arm out. His body relaxed when she happily wrapped her arm around his.
“I’d love to.” And with that, the two elves with tons of responsibilities walked arm in arm with a cocoa each in hand. No decided to call attention to it; they were just happy Bernard finally got the courage to ask her.

Imagine adding to Bernard’s list of North Pole dilemmas…
“Bernard, oh - there you are.” You caught up with the Head Elf and Curtis interrupting their newest argument. “We’re almost out of starlight for the tinsel and there aren’t enough tins for Christmas pudding and…”
Bernard turned around and frowned. “Y/n, if your next words aren’t filled with candy canes, I don’t want to hear it.”
Biting your tongue to hold back the rest of your sentence, you looked at Curtis. “What’s gotten into him?” You asked as if the elf in question wasn’t present. The Keeper of the Handbook shrugged.
Shaking his head, Bernard sighed apologetically. “Sorry, I didn’t mean for it to sound - it’s a busy time.”
You squinted and lifted a finger. “I’m guessing now would be a bad time to also tell you that the cocoa machine caught fire?”
A/n: Happy Christmas!

Sugary Sweet
Pairing - Bernard The Elf x Neutral!Reader
Summary - During a long strenuous day at the workshop, you and Bernard manage to find a moment alone.
Word Count - 792
Warnings - no use of y/n, fluff, established relationship
A/N - never in my life did I think I would be writing for this guy, but I watched santa clause 2 recently and was whiplashed back to the past when little ole me used to have a huge crush on him. anyway, happy holidays!
You struggled to hide your sense of panic as you hurried down the hall. A flurry of working elves maneuvered around you, carrying boxes of varying sizes. They would briefly glance up and smile at you, their rosy cheeks dusted with glitter. Yet you continued to walk past them, ignoring their curious stares as a sense of urgency pushed you forward.
How could you be so late? A week of stress and planning, only for you to become lost in your work again. You huffed, shaking your head as you approached the double doors leading to the dining hall. They loomed over you, with Intricate designs of snowflakes carved into its deep oak surface. You smoothed out the edges of your outfit, and opened the door, stepping inside the room.
“You’re late,” a stern voice immediately said upon your entrance. Bernard stood before you, carrying a silver tray with two steaming mugs. Guilt crept up your belly as you felt your face burn from embarrassment.
“I’m sorry,” you sighed, softly closing the door behind you. “I got caught up in the gift wrapping department.”
He shook his head. “No, no it’s fine. I barely made it here in time myself.”
Bernard set the tray down on one of the nearby tables, and ushered you over. The sweet, sugary smell of hot cocoa wafted into your nose as you approached him. He reached for one of the mugs, and carefully handed it to you. You sat down, pressing your palms against the warm porcelain. Your feet throbbed from pacing around the workshop all day, rushing to fix problem after problem. To finally have a moment to sit still already had you itching to stand up again.
“Seven days of trying to align our break schedules, and it almost falls apart,” you said, chuckling to yourself. You felt Bernard sit beside you, as his shoulder brushed against yours.
“We still have ten minutes left until the staff return,” he mentioned, nudging your arm.
You chuckled, staring down at your drink. “I guess that counts for something.”
Bernard shifted beside you, pressing his thigh against yours as a means to be closer. The small gesture left a smile on your face, as you moved to nestle your head against his shoulder. He hummed in content, gently resting his cheek atop of your head. You two sat in silence for a moment, drinking in each other's company. You briefly closed your eyes, breathing in the sharp scent of peppermint coming from Bernard.
“You smell like candy canes,” you commented, glancing up at him. He was already looking down at you, black curls framed his face. You reached up and brushed them aside, watching as warmth rose to his cheeks from the slight touch.
“There was an accident in the kitchen earlier today, I’ll probably smell like mint for an entire week,” he grumbled.
“Dare I ask what happened?”
“Trust me, it’s better you don’t.”
You nodded, and reached for his hand, interlocking your fingers with his.
“Well,” you started, smiling up at him. “If it means anything, I happen to love peppermint.”
He smirked and took a sip from his mug.
You drew a deep breath, relishing in your lover's company. Although the ticking of the wall clock was beginning to chip away at your nerves. Time continued to move on, not caring much for anyone.
“Time’s almost up,” you pouted, not wishing to move from your spot.
“We’ll see each other later tonight,” Bernard assured, planting a tender kiss on your temple.
You scoffed. “It’s One Week until Christmas, we’re at our busiest right now.”
“It’ll be here before you even realize it.”
You looked at him, studying his warm oak eyes as they reflected nothing but fondness and warmth. Slowly, as if not to startle the other, you two leaned towards each other. Bernard's nose bumped against yours, as your lips gently met. His lips tasted like sugar and all things sweet. You sighed against his mouth, maneuvering to pull him closer into your side. His warm palm slid up your neck to cradle your jaw, the tender movement causing your hands to shake.
Suddenly, the sharp ring of a bell went off, signaling the elves return to the kitchen. You two broke apart, wide eyed as if you had been caught already.
Bernard swallowed. “I guess it’s back to work.”
With heavy hearts you cleaned up the area, washing the tray and decorated mugs. When you two walked out into the hallway, already heading in opposite directions, you glanced over your shoulder. Bernard smiled at you, and then rushed off down the hall.
You giggled, feeling your heart swell as you turned around and walked towards the tinkering sounds of the workshop ahead.

santa's sister in law ~ bernard the elf;the santa clause

Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄
a special christmas gift for @omeletdreamer 😌
Bernard was firmly against Carol's family coming to the North Pole. He liked Carol, don't get him wrong. She was a fantastic Mrs. Claus, and he loved her idea to start an elf school at the Pole. He understood that it was hard to adjust to life at the Pole, especially while she was pregnant. But bringing outsiders there was a big no-no. They were already pushing things by letting Laura, Neil, and Lucy in on the secret of Santa.
But all of his protests fell on deaf ears. Santa wanted Carol to have her family while he was going to be busy, and the other elves just wanted Carol to be happy. It was a thousand against one. So, Santa got into his sleigh and flew to get Carol's parents while the elves fixed up the Pole to look like Canada.
"This is never going to work," Bernard said to Curtis. "There's no way they're going to think this is Canada. Even if they believe these ridiculous store signs, they'll never believe Canada is inhabited by a bunch of children."
"Can you not be so negative for once?" Curtis asked. "It'll be fine."
"We are seriously pushing it with how many people know about the Pole and Santa. You can't blame me for being stressed out over it."
"Everything will be fine, Bernard. We have a plan. We got this."
Bernard huffed a sigh and walked away. He was tired of being brushed off like this. He didn't become head elf for nothing. He knew what he was doing. If only someone would just listen to him.
As he was walking away, he heard something in the distance. He looked up to see Santa's sleigh breaching through the entrance to the Pole. He couldn't see them yet, but he imagined Carol's parents in there, asleep from Sandman's magic, expecting to wake up in "Canada". He cringed to himself. There's really no going back now.
"I need a hot cocoa," he muttered to himself.
The kitchen elves were busy baking away when Bernard walked in. Carol had told them her mom's favorite cookies so they were hard at work making a batch to welcome Mrs. Newman. They were wearing comically large chef's hats pulled down to cover their pointy ears, which made Bernard glad his hair was long enough to do that naturally.
"Hi Bernard," Abby said, giving him a bright smile upon noticing him. "Want a hot cocoa?"
"I'd love one, Abby," he responded, sitting down at one of the tables.
She rushed off to make it for him. He picked up a cookie from a plate in the middle of the table to eat while waiting. Abby returned with his hot cocoa. He blew on it, disturbing the steady steam coming from the drink. He hoped that escaping to the kitchen would give him some time to prepare for Carol's parents.
He was taking his first sip of his hot cocoa when the kitchen doors opened again and in walked Santa, Mrs. Claus and her family in tow. Bernard nearly choked on his drink.
"And here's our kitchen," Santa was saying. "Oh, and Bernard's here too! Bernard is my, uh, he's my...assistant."
Bernard tried not to roll his eyes at the title.
He reluctantly stood and plastered a smile on his face. "Hi, nice to meet you...eh."
Carol's dad shook his hand while her mom pulled him in for an embrace. Bernard wasn't prepared for a third person to approach; a young woman with a smile so beautiful it left him speechless.
"This is my sister," Carol said. "We didn't know she was coming too."
"I'm (Y/N)," the woman said. "Mom and dad mentioned they were coming for a visit, so I asked Scott if it was alright for me to tag along."
"Of course it would be alright!" Sylvia cut in. "Scott's already had Carol from us for so long, he'd never say no to bringing Carol's loving sister with us to finally see her again."
Sylvia had a smile on her face but there was venom in her words. (Y/N) cringed and tried to ignore her mother's comment. "It's really lovely here so far. I'm glad I could come."
Bernard was still tongue tied. He kept opening and closing his mouth like an idiot trying to figure out something to say. (Y/N) was watching him, waiting, while Scott and Carol shared an amused look.
"Let's show you the rest of the place," Carol said, putting an arm around her sister. "We'll meet up with Bernard again later."
(Y/N) smiled and waved goodbye as the group left the kitchen. Once they were gone, Bernard felt like he was freed from a spell. He let out a long breath and slumped back down to the table. His hot cocoa had cooled down enough that he finished the rst of it in two gulps.
~~~~~~
Bernard was up late that night doing his rounds of the workshop. All the other elves had left for the night, but Bernard was often the last one up making sure everything was shut down and nothing was left out of place. With the in laws visiting, he was also making sure the workshop was locked up so no one would accidentally wander in and discover everything.
He was preparing to leave when he noticed the door to the kitchen was slightly ajar. He was sure all the baker elves had left for the night, but maybe someone had stayed behind. He poked his head into the room and almost gasped aloud when he saw it was (Y/N) who was leaning against the counter, a mug of hot cocoa in her hands. She was in her pajamas, clearly preparing for bed. Bernard was about to back away and leave her be, until she looked up form her mug and caught him. She smiled and waved to him.
"Good evening, Bernard," she said.
There was no escaping now. He stepped into the kitchen and cleared his throat, trying not to seem as weird as he had earlier. He discretely made sure his ears were tucked away under his hair.
"Hi," he said. Simple, easy. You can't mess up a "hi".
"What are you doing up so late?" she asked.
"I could ask you the same thing."
She giggled. "Touché. I was having trouble sleeping so I decided to come out for a hot cocoa. That nice baker, Abby I think? She offered to make me one before she left. I was told she makes the best hot cocoa in all of the town."
"Oh, she does. She's the one you go to when you want a good hot drink made."
"She works magic, I'm sure."
Bernard tried not to let his smile falter. "You have no idea."
A silence fell over them. (Y/N) softy blew on her hot cocoa before taking a sip from it. A small trail of foam stuck to her upper lip as she pulled her mug away. Bernard couldn't stop himself from chuckling.
"What?" she asked.
"You just...you have something..." He gestured to his top lip.
She ran a thumb along her top lip, only smearing the foam more.
"Here, let me." Bernard reached up and wiped the foam off with his own thumb. He was suddenly very aware of their closeness when he looked into her eyes. Any words he could ever say were stuck in his throat yet again and he could only imagine how insane he looked, staring at her with wide eyes.
"Thank you," she said. "And thank you for having us here, too. I know it's a busy time of year for you guys. We don't mean to impose."
It took Bernard a moment to remember the story they had been telling Carol's parents: that Scott was a toy maker in Canada and that's why he would be so busy this time of year and needed someone to be there with Carol while she was pregnant.
"It's not imposition," Bernard assured her. "If anything, I think it's going to make Sa - Scott feel better to have you guys here for Carol while he's working."
(Y/N) nodded. "It's very nice of him to have us here considering how my parents tend to treat him."
Bernard thought back to the comment Sylvia had made earlier. The strained relationship between Scott and his in-laws wasn't anything new to him. Scott had mentioned it a few times before, most recently when he was voicing his concerns about bringing Bud and Sylvia to the Pole with Bernard in private. It was evident that both Newman sisters also noticed how their parents treated Scott, and it seemed neither of them were too happy with it.
"I understand why mom and dad get upset," (Y/N) continued. "One minute Carol was a proud principal at the local middle school, and then the next thing we know she's writing us to tell us she got married to a guy we've never even heard of and moved off to Canada to be with him. I mean, even I was skeptical then. But when she'd write to me about Scott and about being here, it was clear that she was so happy and she found the man of her dreams. Who are we to judge the quickness that they got married? As long as she's safe and happy, which she clearly is. But mom and dad don't see it that way. Dad is still convinced that Scott is a cult leader who stole Carol away or something."
(Y/N) paused and looked at Bernard. He had been listening as she spoke, just nodding along and not saying a word. She chuckled a little and shook her head. "Sorry, I'm rambling on about my family drama."
"No! It's-it's fine. Trust me, I've heard similar stuff from Sa - Scott."
She gave him a look. "You keep stuttering on Scott's name."
"Yeah."
He couldn't think of a better explanation besides that. He felt an unfamiliar burning sensation in his cheeks. He wasn't sure if it was embarrassment or just from being so close to her that made him feel that way. She giggled, though; a sound more beautiful than any of the twinkling bells that were often heard around the Pole.
"I'm just glad to be here," she said. "And I'm glad mom and dad can be here for when the baby is born. Maybe that will help them be a little less harsh on Scott."
She finished what was left in her mug and looked around the oversized kitchen. When Bernard realized she was probably trying to figure out where to put the dirty mug, he said, "Oh, I can take care of that for you."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. You're our guest, and I can handle this."
She smiled and passed him the mug. "Well, thanks for talking to me, Bernard. I guess I should try to sleep again."
"Goodnight, (Y/N)."
"Goodnight, Bernard." She started towards the door, but then paused to turn back to him. "I hope you're not too busy tomorrow. I'd like to spend more time with you."
His face was on fire as she left.
~~~~~~
For the first time in his thousands of years as the head elf, Bernard wasn't concerned with his head elf duties. Of course he was still there if Santa needed him, but he decided not to spend the entire day in the factory and to seek out (Y/N) to spend time with her. She was delighted to see him and was more than happy to accept his offer to show her around "Canada" for the day.
This became a regular occurrence for a few days. Bernard would make sure to check in often to see if he was needed, but if he wasn't he was with (Y/N). He would feel bad about taking her away from her time with her family, but it seemed her parents were more concerned with fussing over Carol than they were about all four of them spending time together. And (Y/N) also assured Bernard that she was making time for Carol and her family as well as spending time with him.
Bernard was more than well aware he was falling in love with (Y/N), and he was also more than well aware of how bad that was. Elves falling in love was nothing new; he had officiated quite a few elf weddings in his time. But falling in love with a human was out of the question. Elves were immortal, humans were not. Scott and Carol were different - upon becoming Santa and Mrs. Claus, their aging processes had slowed down considerably. They weren't completely immortal, but they weren't aging as fast as normal humans did. But that wasn't possible for a human that an elf fell in love with. Even if (Y/N) felt the same way towards Bernard, she would still continue to age while he would stay the same for the rest of time.
But he couldn't stop himself. He was falling fast and hard. Carol's due date was creeping closer, and once it came it would only be a matter of time before the Newman family would have to go back home, meaning that (Y/N) would leave and likely would not come back. That thought hurt Bernard.
Bernard was approaching where (Y/N) was staying one day when she slipped out of the house instead. He was surprised; she had never left before he had gotten there before.
As he got closer he realized that her face was tearstained.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
(Y/N) jumped and turned to look at him. "Oh, Bernard. Sorry, I didn't see you coming. Nothing's wrong."
He was about to point out that she was very obviously upset over something when the door opened again and Sylvia slipped out. She looked like she was about to say something, but she noticed Bernard and gave him a tight smile, one that he had come to learn was very much her fake smile.
"Hello, Bernard," she said. "I was just having a conversation with my daughter. We were talking about spending the day with Carol. We haven't had an all girls day since we arrived. So, unfortunately, I don't think she'll be able to spend time with you today."
"No mom," (Y/N) said. "I said I would join you later for girls time. Besides, you know Carol has an appointment with the doctor. She won't be ready till later."
Her mother was smiling but her eyes were glaring daggers into the younger Newman girl. (Y/N) held the glare before turning to Bernard and taking hold of his arm. She didn't say anything as she dragged him away. He followed anyways, wanting to get as far away from Sylvia as he could.
"God, I don't understand what is wrong with her," (Y/N) said, letting go of Bernard long enough to wipe the tears from her eyes. "I swear she just doesn't want Carol and I to be happy."
"What was she saying?" Bernard asked.
"Oh, she was going off about the fact that I spend so much time with you. Had her usual rant about Scott taking her precious daughter away from her and dad, and then said she'll be damned if she lets it happen with me too. Basically tried to guilt me into not spending time with you today by saying that Carol was upset that she didn't get to see me much, which I know isn't true because just the other day Carol was saying how happy she was that you and I were getting along."
She shook her head. "I'm so sick of it. It's like she can't wrap her head around the fact that maybe, just maybe, life is so busy here that Carol doesn't always have time to visit. It has nothing to do with Scott being manipulative or a cult leader or whatever conspiracy her and dad have cooked up on a certain day."
Bernard listened in silence. He felt bad that (Y/N) had to have these issues with her mother. Carol was hearing it all now, but he was sure (Y/N) heard much more of it when she was back home with her parents.
None of the Newmans could ever understand the way things were with Carol and Scott. They could never know why things were like this, but they likely wouldn't understand even if they knew.
Unless...
It was an idea that shocked even Bernard that he had it. Head elf of the North Pole, Santa's righthand man himself, considering such a thing? After being so against Carol's family coming to the Pole? It was preposterous. But his brain was so clouded by love for (Y/N) that he wasn't thinking proper.
"Come with me," he said. He didn't wait for an answer, just took hold of her hand and pulled her towards the workshop.
His heart was pounding so hard he could feel it in hips pointed ears. He had to remind himself there was no going back. This was going to be huge, and it could likely get him into a world of trouble.
He opened the doors to the workshop and (Y/N) stepped in. She looked around in awe at the working elves, most of which were not hiding their ears as the workshop was supposed to be off limits to the Newmans. None of them seemed to notice the two of them enter, and if they did, nothing was said.
Bernard watched (Y/N), nervously waiting for her reaction.
"Is this...what I think it is?" she asked him. "No, it can't be. I must be dreaming. I fell and hit my head and now I'm in a coma having a very vivid dream that all of these small people who are supposed to be Canadians have pointed ears like they're elves."
When she looked over at him, Bernard had taken off his hat and allowed his ears to peak out from under his hair.
"I've lost it," she decided.
"You haven't," he assured her. "All of this is real. It's why Carol hasn't been able to visit as much, or why you couldn't visit until now. Look, there's so much to know about all of this. So much that I want to tell you but technically I can't because there are strict rules about humans knowing about the North Pole."
(Y/N) had another quick moment of shock that she was able to very quickly recover from. "Rules that you're currently breaking by showing me...Santa's workshop. By admitting that you're an elf, these are all elves...oh my God, my sister is Mrs. Claus."
"It is all very complicated," he said. "But you deserve to know that Carol is truly happy here. She's not being held against her will, Santa isn't manipulative or holding her captive. He loves her so much that he risked you and your parents finding out about him - about us - so that all of you could be here for her while she's pregnant."
(Y/N) still seemed to be stunned. She looked around the bustling factory again, her eyes wide with wonder.
"Wait," she said. "But...if you all went through so much to make us think this was Canada, to keep who Scott is a secret...then why are you telling me now?"
Because I love you. Because I want you to stay. Because I want to be with you more than anything, even though I know that will never happen.
"Because I want you to know the truth," he replied. "About all of this. About...about me."
She was looking at him. He didn't know what else to say, so he just looked back. He waited for an answer. He willed her to say something, anything.
She didn't say anything, though. Instead, she leaned forward and kissed Bernard. It was quick, almost hesitant, and when she pulled away she looked embarrassed.
"Sorry," she said. "I...should I have done that? I should've asked first. Was it okay that I did that?"
He smiled. "It was more than okay."
"Okay. I'm...I'm going to do it again, if that's still okay."
Bernard chuckled and moved in to kiss (Y/N) first. He had only ever kissed one person before - when he was young one of the other elves had gave him a quick peck on the lips and ran away afterwards. Not exactly something glamorous or anything like that. So he was a little worried about whether or not he was a good kisser. Although, something felt so natural about kissing (Y/N), like he could never do it wrong even if he tried.
He paused when he realized a slight hush had fallen over the workshop. He and (Y/N) pulled away to see that all the working elves had stopped what they were doing to look at the two of them.
"Back to work!" Bernard commanded. They all quickly fell back into what they had been doing before. "Bunch of gossips, all of them. Everyone in town will know about this by nightfall."
"I don't blame them. I'd assume it's not every day that they see an elf kissing a human."
He chuckled. "No, I guess not."
They decided to step out of the workshop to talk more in private. (Y/N) looped her arm through Bernard's as they walked, a gesture that suddenly felt much more intimate than it had before.
"I guess it goes without saying that I can't tell anyone about this," she said. "Not even my parents."
"No. Which I know is a big ask, but we can't have the secret of Santa going around," Bernard explained.
"Not like anyone would believe me. They'd think I was crazy if I went home talking about how my brother in law is Santa and how I started crushing on one of his elves. They'd sent me to an institute for sure."
Bernard smiled at her word choice. So she had liked him this whole time, too. Had it been obvious? Or had she been trying to contain it just as much as he did?
"How...would things work...for us then?" she asked.
It was the question he was dreading. The one he continued to ask himself despite knowing the answer to: it wouldn't. He couldn't let (Y/N) hold on to him when she left the Pole. She'd likely never see him again, which was for the best.
Seeing the look on his face, (Y/N) stopped. "No, do not tell me it's not going to work."
"It can't work, (Y/N). There's too much complications between a human and an elf being romantically linked. It's never happened before, and for good reason."
"There's a first for everything."
He shook his head. "No, there can't be a first for this. I can't let you throw away any other romantic opportunities you have for me. We may never see each other after this visit."
"My sister is married to Santa. There's no way I'm not coming back after this. And besides, long distance relationships are a thing."
"This one would be...very long distance."
She slid her arm from his and took his hand in hers. "I'm willing to try. I like you too much to give up without a fight."
Every rational part of his brain was screaming for him to stop. He could not let things go further. It was better for her if they ended everything after that first kiss and went hteir separate ways.
But the less rational part of his brain was louder than the rest, telling him not to give up this chance at happiness outside of work. He deserved to love and to be loved, just like anyone else in the world. If it worked for Scott, it had to work for him too, right?
He sighed and squeezed her hands. "It won't be easy."
"I don't expect it to be."
"You won't be able to be here a lot unless you're willing to give up everything the way Carol did."
"That's fine, we can make that work."
"And if you do end up coming here permanently, you can't tell anyone who I really am, or who Scott and Carol really are. You'll have to lie to everyone in your life. Is that something you can be okay with?"
(Y/N) stepped closer to him so that their noses were nearly touching. "I'm already lying about Scott and Carol. What's one more lie about the man I love?"
Love.
It was enough for him to abandon all hope at resisting her. He closed the space between them, kissing her again so passionately that it made her head spin. She wrapped her arms around his neck to steady herself, while he wrapped his arms around her waist.
He could've kissed her forever. He could've stood there, wrapped around her and her wrapped around him, the cold nipping at them but barely bothering them, forever. He wanted to take this moment and freeze it, to never have to go back to his busy life as Santa's right hand elf ever again.
But she pulled away first, resting her forehead against his.
"I did promise my mom a girl's day," she said with a sigh. "And I think if I blow her off for this, she'll probably actually kill me."
"I guess I'll have to let you go then."
But he didn't, and she didn't let go of him. They laughed and kissed again.
It would be another several minutes before he would finally (and reluctantly) let her go.

Now, I know what a fool I’ve been. But if you kissed me now, I know you’d fool me again.
Bernard x GN!Head Elf!Reader
Synopsis: It’s believed that you and your fellow Head Elf couldn’t hate one another more. Isn’t it strange how wrong beliefs can be?
Word Count: 1.4K
Warnings: Potential OOC & Probable Grammar mistakes
Pronouns Used: (You/Your)
A/N: Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! This is my Christmas special, so I hope you enjoy a short rivals/enemies to lovers one shot with our favorite seasonal boyfriend, Bernard.
Post Dividers used within this post are made by @saradika-graphics
You and Bernard had never seen eye to eye that much was for certain. At every bit of confusion or conflict presented by the elves you both would only argue. It was a wonder that Santa, Scott Calvin, had continued to let you both hold the title of Head Elf. Seeing as how whenever you both were meant to handle a situation it ended in more disputes amongst the workers then any kind of resolution.
Yes, despite your shared circumstances, despite growing up through hundreds of years together, you just could never seem to understand the other. The only thing you seemed to agree on was ensuring the happiness of children around the world, and making sure your jobs were done well and properly.
Though even that wasn’t enough to stop your fighting. One year, you two had been quarreling about wrapping and what exactly was the proper way for the elves to wrap the presents. This argument came to be so out of hand that you fell behind schedule.
Half of the wrapping department was listening to you and the other half to him, and quite frankly it was slowing you all the way down. Cutting your production time by at least half if not more than. You had only made it to Christmas on schedule that year by the slimmest of margins and it was most certainly not easy. Which made you all the more uncertain of what your current situation would present for you.
It was an almost silent night amongst the North Pole as you walked with your Co-Head Elf, Bernard, the small bells on the two of your outfits ringing softly with every step. You were both doing your hardest to discuss and agree upon the best plan to amplify production. As to avoid any big arguments that may lead to another production and schedule delay.
As you walked you both came out onto a terrace of the pole, it was snowing in light flurries as you both stood. The fresh falling snow slowly catching onto your clothes and forming very light halos of delicate snowflakes in your hair.
Each of you were rapidly speaking, and slightly disagreeing, with the other. Which was the case for quite a while until Bernard had taken a step back and paused suddenly, his eyes fixated above you both.
“Bernard?” You called, only growing more and more confused as he continued to ignore you. Until finally you yourself looked up, following his line of sight until it came into view. A small bundle of mistletoe hung between the two of you. A quick realization washed over you as you quickly attempted to fix the situation at hand.
“I promise I told the Decoration Department that this was in the wrong place.” You assured, continuing to look up at the mistletoe that was hung between you and Bernard.
And you had, earlier that day when you had been passing by this exact terrace you stopped to watch them work. Usually your decoration department did a wonderful job, going above and beyond for the look of the pole.
However as you watched them you noticed them hanging the traditional plant up above the terrace, and you had asked them to take it down, bringing up a few reasons as to why it had been decided not to be placed in this area before. Eventually they agreed with you and told you they would remove the mistletoe, pleased with that answer you found it okay to walk away and get started on another job you had to complete.
The mistletoe’s leaves glittered with a slight bit of Christmas magic, magic that the decorators always dusted across the mistletoe within the pole before they were put up. You looked back to your Co-Head Elf with slight worried glances, getting ready to combat anything he had to say about it.
Though when his gaze finally met yours it seemed as though he wasn’t upset or bothered by the classic decoration, in fact he didn’t show any sign of distaste. It was strange at first before it dawned on you, perhaps as opposites you were, whilst you were upset with the placement he was not. Perhaps instead he would decide he liked it, even if only to start an argument with you.
As these thoughts danced in your head you watched a bit of the shimmering magic flutter down and land on you. It occurred to you now what this meant. How the plant dangled so perfectly between you two symbolized more than a mistake of your decorators.
You turned to meet Bernard’s gaze once again, he’d been oddly quiet, usually the two of you would result in much more commotion. His eyes were expectant though patient, observing you and your every move as he waited for you to finally realize what you both had quite literally walked right into.
You looked at him for a moment more before speaking up, “We don’t have to.” You gave, no one was around to hold you to this, and surely neither of you felt you were necessarily in a position where you must.
You watched as he stared at you for a moment more, his face scrunching slightly, he did that when he was thinking. Which was something you had learned about him but never admitted to, much like many of his other traits.
You heard him chuckle softly as he met your stare again, those eyes, you thought, they were always so full of life. Always shining with this sparkle that you couldn’t help but feel matched the spark of joy that the Christmas season brought. They certainly made you feel lighter, more joyful even, despite who they may belong to.
“Why would I not want to kiss you?” He finally spoke. He asked it as though it was more than obvious that’s what he’d been willing, no, wanting to do, as if it’s what he had been waiting so long for. It made you feel almost idiotic, foolish even.
You watched him take a small step towards you. Your bodies and faces mere inches from each other, you could smell him from here. He always smelt first like the fresh fire in his office, a light Smokey scent followed by those classical Christmas ones. Gingerbread specifically with a slight hint of sweet peppermint.
You held his gaze, his eyes roaming across your face, finding their way back to your lips time and time again. As his hands slowly found their way to your waist, he was warm, a comforting warm. The kind you feel when you come inside after a walk in the winter or bundled in a sweater as you decorated for Christmas.
And from your place before him you could see every silver freckle dusted on his cheeks. He looked almost angelic, you found yourself thinking with the snow sticking to him and the familiar light in his eyes.
“Can I kiss you?” He whispered softly, a question to be shared with you and you alone. His voice was almost desperate, though he wouldn’t make any move until he had absolute certainty from you.
Your breath became stuck in your throat, you paused, unsure of what move you should make before you unconsciously replied, “Yes.” You found yourself whispering, nodding softly as your own voice subconsciously matched his desperation.
In almost an instant your lips were against his, one of his hands coming to cradle the back of your neck, the soft ends of his sweater brushing against your cheek as he did so, with his other hand pulling you closer from his hold on your waist.
He tasted almost as sweet as he smelled, just like the new sugar cookies the bakery had been working on, and cinnamon, from his hot chocolate you found yourself remembering. He always had his cocoa with cinnamon.
He pulled away from you with a shaky sigh, a sweet smile spreading to his face as the sparkle in his eye shone brighter than you thought it had perhaps ever had before. His hold on you was still gentle but enough to keep you close, almost as though he never wished to let you go.
Looking at him now, taking notice of every detail about him, and the way he smiled at you, a sweet, loving smile that warmed you even more than his hold. It all made you feel more of a fool than before.
Has he always looked at you this way?
Has the sight of his smile always swooned you?
And have you just been so oblivious as to ignore it?
It had been foolish for sure, your attitudes towards one another, the arguments, and specifically waiting so long for this.
Thinking it all over you couldn’t help but breathe him in and pull him in once again, putting a silence to your thoughts as you kissed him once more.

The One Who Believes Chapter 1
Bernard (The Santa Clause) x Reader
Summary: [Reader] stopped believing in soulmates a long time ago - around the same time she stopped believing in Santa. What happens when she's finally given a reason to believe in both.
Chapter 2 >
Ever since I was a little girl, I believed there was someone out there for me. Someone who would love me for me, for every strange aspect of my personality, every hobby I loved and every experience I’ve had. When I was a little girl this idea was striking, it was a tangible thing that I fully believed would happen. I stayed up late as a toddler as my mother told me stories of how one day I’d find the one for me. As a young girl I played with my dolls and teddy bears and all the time thought of who out there could possibly be the one for me, what were they doing at that very moment? As a teenager I forced myself to focus on my schoolwork, however, somewhere in the back of my mind I still dreamed of my person. My One. My soulmate.
Now as a young adult it's become more apparent than ever that that's just not how it works. There's not a single person out there waiting for me, a person who has been crafted perfectly for me and me for them. Realistically I’d find someone that makes me happy that I can build my life with, someone I can marry and have children with. But the idea of a soulmate had become so utterly ridiculous to me that I almost cringed at my teenage self. But still. Sometimes, in the dark of the night, when everything was quiet and I could finally think to myself, I find myself wishing it were true. Wishing that there was some truth to my childish dreams. Wishing that my mother had meant something more when she told me of the love I'd one day find.
Christmas was coming up. I looked up at the date displayed on my computer - December 18th - one week until Christmas. I always felt bittersweet during the holidays, like something was missing. As of recently I blame this feeling on my mothers passing a few years ago. I still think of the last thing she said to me. “Believe [Reader]…the one is out there…you just have to believe.” Suddenly the sound of the bell atop the store door startled me out of my daydream. I worked in a bookshop. I can’t really put a name to my job though. As the only employee I stocked the shelves, checked out customers, worked the finances, and as of late cleaned the snowy footprints away from the door as people walked in from the frigid outside. I worked for the kindest old man and woman, who weirdly enough sort of reminded me of Santa and Mrs. Claus. The old man - Mr. Lou - was a big man with a long white beard and round glasses. The women - Mrs. Dorothy - was a kind old woman who wore exclusively ankle length dresses and always brought me homemade cookies when she came in. In fact, it was her who had just walked in. “Hello Mrs. Dorothy!” I called to her with a smile. She smiled back and adjusted the tray in her arms to give me a hug. “Hello Dear, how are you today?” I always loved Mrs. Dorothy, I never knew my grandmother but having her in my life made me feel like I had the most loving grandmother in the world. “I’m doing good Mrs. Dorothy, just got the last of the Christmas books stocked and I finally got that light changed,” I say pointing to the seemingly always broken lightbulb. “Oh thank you dear, Lou’s been meaning to do that but his back has just been killing him these days.” “Oh no, is he okay? Did something happen?” “Oh dear you’ll never believe it!” Mrs. Dorothy turned from the shelves she had been looking at and faced me with an amused look in her eyes. “He fell off a roof!” “He what!? Oh my goodness, is he okay?” I frantically ask her. “Oh yes dear, he's fine. It did put him out of his second job but he found a replacement pretty fast.” “Okay... that's good. Please let me know if there is anything I could possibly do to help.” I didn't even know Mr. Lou had a second job. “Oh dear thank you. You are so sweet, but you have already done so much for us the past 7 years. I mean, you've been working here since you were 16!” “Mrs. Dorothy, you know I love working here, and I love you two also. I would be happy to help in any way I possibly could.” She answered me with a smile and a cookie from the tray she was holding. She set the tray down and we held small talk for about an hour as more customers came in and out. Eventually closing time came and I started cleaning up the small messes here and there. Me and Mrs. Dorothy walked toward the door still talking, as we walked outside, harsh gusts of cold wind hit us. I wrapped my scarf tighter around me but Mrs. Dorothy hardly seemed fazed. In the seven years I’d known her the cold had never bothered her. “Well bye Mrs. Dorothy, I’ll see you tomorrow. Please remember my offer.” “Of course dear and for all your kindness let me tell you something, something I think you’ll find very helpful in the near future: His favorite color is burgundy.” “Wha-” but before I could question her extremely strange comment she whips around on her feet and walks in the opposite direction, toward her home. “You’ll understand when you need to, dear!” she calls, and just like that I was alone on the sidewalk in front of the old bookstore.
The walk home from work felt different than usual. The air held a sense of suspense, the feeling you get when you know something is going to happen but you don't know when, how, or why? Once home, I tried to shake off the odd feeling I had. I fixed some mac and cheese for dinner and watched a Christmas movie while eating. I took a long shower and crawled into bed still feeling uneasy. What had Mrs. Dorothy meant? Who's favorite color was burgundy? Why did I need to know it? How did she know I would need it? And most importantly, why was I starting to believe her? I fell asleep with more questions forming in my head than I had answers.

I have a Bernard request 👉👈 maybe Bernard, right before the holiday season, works himself so much into a stress-induced anxious lather in front of you that he literally has a small panic attack and struggles to breathe, and you have to de-escalate him w/ kindness (and possibly cuddles)???
I combined this one with 🍀 anon’s ask, I hope you like it!
Bernard x Reader
You stick your head into the stuffing room, excited greetings ringing out when you’re spotted. You look around, spying piles of fluff, half stuffed animals, and hardworking elves.
“Hello, hi. Hey, you!” you greet a few of the elves, “Has anyone seen Bernard?”
“Last I saw he was headed toward the kitchen,” one elf pipes up.
“On a war path, I heard,” another mentions with a raised eyebrow.
“Uh oh,” you wince, “I better go talk him down.”
As you make your way through the hall, you don’t spot Bernard anywhere so you continue your hike toward the kitchens. Finally approaching the candy themed doors, you pull them open and head inside.
“How’s it going, everyone?” You ask cheerily as you pop in. Your smile falters a bit as you see the baking elves and their drained faces as they mumble replies to your question.
“Why the long faces?” You frown, looking around at them for answers. They avoid your gaze, halfheartedly rolling out cookie dough.
“Bernard yelled at us,” one of the elves finally admits and you grimace.
“Oh no, I’m sorry. You all know how he gets this close to Christmas,” you apologize.
“Do you know where he went?” You ask the elf nearest you.
“The toy floor,” she murmurs and your heart breaks at how downtrodden she seems.
“I’m gonna go find him, why don’t you guys take a break, huh? Have some cocoa,” you tell them and their faces light up. You grab a bagged cookie, tucking it in your pocket to use to talk Bernard down when you find him, and laughing as a chorus of ‘thank you!’ follows you out the door as you leave.
When you round the corner to the toy floor you spot Bernard right away. He’s gesturing and pointing while he talks to the painters, and you can see how tense his shoulders are from across the room.
“Oh, thank goodness you’re here,” You hear someone behind you exclaim. You sidle up to Bernard just before it seems like he’s really going to snap.
“Hey, I’ve been looking for you all over,” you smile, rubbing the velvet of his shirt over his bicep. He softens as soon as he hears your voice.
“Hi, sugar,” he smiles dopily for a second before his eyebrows furrow again. He looks like he’s about to turn and start again but you cut in as he opens his mouth.
“I’ve got something for you, c’mon,” you tell him, tugging lightly on his sleeve so he’ll follow you. He frowns, clearly wanting to stay and finish whatever lecture he’d started but he trails after you. When you finally make it off the toy floor he can’t stand it anymore.
“What do you have for me?” He finally asks.
“A break and a cookie,” you tell him as you reach the door to his office.
“I don’t have time for a break!” he insists.
“Yes, you do. You need one, you’re starting to take out your frustrations on the elves,” you argue.
“I can’t take a break, it’s almost Christmas!” His voice cracks.
“Santa has only checked his list once! The painters painted all the dump trucks green, the bakers aren’t meeting their cookie quota! The- the-“ he rants until his breath is coming out in short quick puffs and his hands are shaking.
“Whoa, hey, hey,” you reach out to hold onto his shirt as he sways slightly on his feet. You pull him into his office, and towards the plush couch against the wall. You sit the both of you down, scooting back to give him some space.
“Can you breathe with me?” You ask and he nods with wide eyes, breath rabbit quick.
“In, two, three…” you count a couple of breaths for him to follow, but it doesn’t seem to help calm him as much as you’d like.
“Can I touch you?” You ask and he croaks out a yes. You bring his hand up to press flat against your sternum, breathing deeply and encourage him to match your pace. The steady thudding of your heartbeat helps calm him down as he matches your breaths.
“Feel a little better?” You ask once you feel like his breathing is normal again and his hands have stopped shaking. You get a tiny ‘yeah’ and you can’t help but coo at how pitiful he sounds.
“Oh, honey,” you pull him to you, rubbing his back soothingly.
“C’mon, take some of this stuff off,” you murmur, taking his hat and necklace off, gently dropping them to the floor. He takes his bag off and deposits it in the pile as well.
“Lay down with me,” you suggest and he gives in easily. His head rests on your chest once you get settled, your fingers scratching against the nape of his neck. You hum an apology when he shivers at the touch, moving to pop open the button on the back of his collar to give him more room to breathe. By now you know better than to run your fingers through his hair and risk messing up his curls, so you move down to scratch his back lightly.
“Santa always gets the list done, he knows what he’s doing. The kitchen elves are doing their best. They seem to be on track to make enough, but you can always delegate a few more elves to help in the kitchen if you feel like they need it. And there’s nothing wrong with green dump trucks,” you talk him through his worries.
“I know it’s your job to take care of everything, but you have to take care of yourself too,” you remind him.
“What did I do to deserve you, sugarplum?” he wonders, voice muffled into your sweater.
“You must’ve been on the nice list,” you joke, poking him softly in the side to watch him squirm. You’re sure this must’ve taken a lot out of him, he seems ready to fall asleep any second and you’re more than willing to lay here as long as it takes for him to get a little rest.
“I love you, sugarplum,” he mumbles sleepily, arms wrapped tightly around your waist.
“Love you too,” you press a kiss to his unruly curls as his breathing starts to even out.
“Did you say something about a cookie?” He looks up suddenly and asks, and you can’t help but let out a startled laugh.

Hiii❤️, are you taking requests for Bernard rn? And if so can you write a Bernard x reader (she/her) where she has a very flirtatious personality and he has a huge crush on her and he lovesss when she’s being that way towards him but when he sees her talk to other people like that he’s kinda jealous and maybe end in some smut ( ofc only if you’re comfortable writing that!<3)
Jealousy looks good on you
Bernard the elf x reader
A/N: ‘tis the season and the Bernard girlies have awakened. I’m shocked at all the support I’ve received from these one shots and I’m so glad to be writing more. This isn’t my best imo, I don’t know where I was going with it so I kinda got carried away, but oh well lol. I have another Bernard request after this one and then I’ll be back to my Beauty and the Beast rewrite. Hope you all enjoy :))
“She’s doing it again.”
“Who?”
“Y/N. She’s flirting with him again.”
“Your obsession with Y/N is becoming a problem.”
This wasn’t the first conversation Curtis and Bernard had had with each other about Y/N. This topic specifically. It was known by the other elves that she was confident, and very blunt when talking to others. That also didn’t stop in the romantic sense. And Bernard knew that. She wasn’t afraid to flirt with him in front of others, and that’s why he loved it so much. It made him feel good. And also slightly embarrassed. Only because he wasn’t used to that sort of attention, especially from a very beautiful girl. He wasn’t great at reciprocating her advances, but he hoped she wouldn’t stop. So far she hadn’t. But a new ‘suitor’ had entered the picture, and Bernard was not happy. Some tall, blue eyed elf that he hadn’t bothered learning the name of was also receiving the flirtatious attention from Y/N, and unfortunately he was much better at dishing it back than Bernard was.
“I’m not obsessed with Y/N,” Curtis rolled his eyes at that remark, “I’m just curious to know why she thinks it’s okay to talk with that guy when they both have a lot of work to do.”
The younger elf snorted. “You don’t seem to have an issue when she’s talking to you and wasting precious work time.”
“You’re not helping,” Bernard huffed, walking away from Curtis and towards the workshop, trying to get the image of Y/N and the tall, blue eyed elf out of his head.
**************************************************************************************
It had been a few hours since his last conversation with Curtis, and Bernard had quickly calmed down, busying himself with tasks he had yet completed for the holiday season. However, it hadn’t helped him get Y/N out of his head. From the constant flirting, to seeing her using that charm on someone else, Bernard was unsure where the relationship stood. Was it all a big joke to her? Had she been leading him on the last few months to mess with him? Before he could dive deeper into his existential dread, a soft voice sounded from behind him.
“Hey handsome.”
Bernard froze slightly, and looked over his shoulder to see Y/N walk through the door, a stack of paperwork in her hands and a bright smile on her face. Glitter on her cheeks and nose, sporting a new dress that glimmered in the light, Bernard thought she looked like an angel ready to be set atop the Christmas tree. He shook himself out of his trance, and smiled tightly back at her, unable to form any words. He quickly turned back around, continuing his sort out of different coloured wrapping paper. It wasn’t usually Bernard’s job, but he needed the distraction, and the wrapping room was a quiet place to come in the evenings.
“Curtis told me you’d be in here and I need you to sign these papers for Santa.”
Y/N held the paperwork out towards Bernard, their fingers touching briefly once he reached out to grab them. He placed them on the side of the desk and mumbled a ‘thanks’ under his breath, barely audible. Y/N let out a small huff and strolled around Bernard, taking in his tense form.
She smiled again. “So. How’s my favourite elf doing?”
Bernard didn’t bother looking up from his work. “He’s very busy at the moment,” his tone dull and unwavering.
A hand suddenly came into the head elf’s view, and hit the desk hard, jolting everything laying on top. Bernard jumped back and looked to the side where Y/N stood with eyebrows raised and her mouth pursed.
“Have I done something to upset you?” She asked, crossing her arms and popping her hip to the side.
Bernard wasn’t sure what to say, nor how Y/N might react. He’d never been great at showcasing his feelings, especially in the romantic sense. But this wasn’t just some random girl he’d found cute once and never interacted with. This was Y/N. One of his closest friends, someone he cared deeply for. Who seemed to care deeply about him too. She was also someone he worked with. The possibility of admitting how he felt, and for her to not feel the same, it would no doubt make things awkward. And he’d hate to ruin what they already have. Even if it killed him to see her flirting with someone else.
“You’ve done nothing, I’ve just had a lot on my plate and I can’t handle any distractions at the moment,” Bernard finally replied, trying to keep his voice level.
“Really?” Y/N bit back, “because I feel like you’ve been avoiding me all day. And since when do you spend time in the wrapping paper room? When Curtis told me you were here, I was worried you might be having a mental breakdown.” She ended with a joke, but part of Bernard knew there was truth behind her words.
The head elf felt himself boiling over. His temper was short, and everyone knew that, but when it came to Y/N he was unusually chill. Her presence was good for him. Not at this moment though. He could feel himself ready to lash out, and he was worried what could be said.
“Do I have to explain everything to you? Can I not spend time alone without you knowing where and what I’m doing every second of every day?”
“I’m sorry I care about you and want to know what you’re up to! Sure you can have all the time you want alone, I just don’t like it when you avoid me completely,” by now, both of their voices were shaking and getting louder.
“I thought you’d want to spend more time with your new tall, blue eyed friend,” Bernard instantly regretted his words.
Y/N opened her mouth but closed it almost instantly, her brow furrowed and confusion clear on her face. “What are you talking about?” her voice now considerably calmer.
Bernard could feel the embarrassment wash over him, desperate to think of some excuse, but coming up short. “This morning, I saw you talking to someone. It looked like he was flirting, and you seemed to be doing the same back,” Y/N’s face softened as she begun to realise what and who the older elf was talking about. “It got to me, okay? It bothered me that you were talking to him in that way when,” a slight pause, “you usually only talk to me that way.”
Y/N shook her head, a confused look returning briefly. “I don’t understand, you never showed any interest in my flirting, why is it bothering you when I do it to someone else.”
“Because I like you!” There it was. That barrier Bernard built high for years, keeping relationships at bay, had just been broken. And he didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing. “I’m not the best at showing my emotions. Romantically speaking, I’m an amateur at it. And I’m sorry I was never good at reciprocating your advances. I guess it doesn’t matter if it was just a joke to you.”
Y/N reached out quickly, grabbing Bernard’s hand and holding it close to her. “It was never a joke to me. I just didn’t think you liked me in that way so I stopped. Thought I’d try with someone else to help me move on from you.” She moved a step forward, standing toe to toe. “I knew it would never work. You’re the only person I truly care about, in that way.”
Bernard was speechless. He couldn’t stop staring into her eyes, brimmed with emotion but full of love. He mostly felt like an idiot. Never taking the chance before now to make a move or admit how he felt. He finally felt at peace. Like everything had finally worked out.
“What now?” Bernard awkwardly questioned, placing his hands on Y/N’s hips.
“I think you should probably kiss me before someone else does,” She jested back.
They both laugh and lean in, Y/N’s hands going to hold the head elf’s face. The kiss deepened, Y/N moving her left hand to the back of Bernard’s head, tugging slightly at his curls. This elicited a deep moan from Bernard’s throat, his pants growing tighter, as he tugged Y/N somehow closer to him and towards the desk still covered with wrapping paper.
“Why did we wait so long to do this?” Y/N mumbled out between wet kisses.
Bernard moved to sucking her neck, most definitely leaving bruises. “I don’t know. But I never want to stop.”
They continued making out, Y/N feeling the desk behind her and sliding on top, pulling Bernard in between her legs. She felt him growing harder, and slowly moved her hand down, palming at the front of his pants. Bernard couldn’t help but whimper slightly, gripping the side of the desk as well as Y/N’s thigh. Keeping one hand on his hard on, she moved her other back up and unbuttoned his shirt, rubbing her hand in circular motions on his chest. Bernard followed soon after, taking hold of the bottom of her shirt and lifting it over her head. The couple continued kissing and touching anywhere they could reach, seeming to care little to none about the door still being open, or whether someone walked by and found them in their current predicament. They were just glad to have finally admitted how they felt. In the back of his head, Bernard reminded himself to thank that tall, blue eyed elf for bringing out the jealousy in him.
(Sorry it seems to cut short, I’m terrible at writing smut or intimate stuff but I hope you all enjoyed anyways :))

Expect The Unexpected
Pairing: Bernard the Elf x Fem!Reader
Fandom: The Santa Clause Movies
Summary: Bernard surprises you by showing up on the night of Christmas. He has a story for you to explain his appearance. He also might have another surprise...
Warnings: Cursing
*******
You very nearly spilled your hot chocolate when your boyfriend appeared under a cascade of sparkles in front of your TV in your living room. "B?!" You quickly set aside your mug, removed your blanket, and got to your feet. "What're you doing here? It's Christmas Day! Well, more like night now," you corrected yourself with a gesture to the window. You took the few steps necessary to hug him.
Bernard had made it very clear that his job came first when you had met him. The two of you had been seeing each other for over two years at that point, and Bernard was always absent from American Thanksgiving to the New Year. You never had a problem with it.
Your boyfriend seemed sweaty in his response. "Oh, you know. I could feel you missing me extra this year, so I figured I'd pop down and say hello. For your sake."
Quickly, you parted from your hug to give him an unconvinced look.
Bernard didn't even need to look at you to know that you saw right through him. "Okay, I'm sorry! The lead up to this Christmas was just so stressful--more stressful than normal--and I needed to see you."
He was speaking so fast that you didn't object as he pulled you to sit on your couch with both hands.
Bernard proceeded to tell you the story of the lead up to that Christmas while barely taking the time to breathe. Apparently, the current Santa Claus, Scott Calvin, needed a Mrs. Claus in order to continue being St. Nicholas. While he was gone and looking for his better half, Bernard's 2nd in command, Curtis, made a life-like toy Santa to run things at the North Pole. The toy Santa went crazy and almost ruined Christmas. However, Scott Calvin returned in time to right everything, and to marry a woman he had fallen in love with. Her name was Carol.
"Holy shit! What the fuck?" You exclaimed once the story was over.
"As always, I missed the eloquent way you express my thoughts exactly," Bernard sighed deeply as he leaned against your shoulder.
Gently, you removed his hat so you could place a soft kiss on top of his head. "I missed you too," you returned. "Now, since I have you here, would you like to curl up with some hot cocoa and watch some Christmas movies? Or, if you're all Christmased out, we could just stare at the black screen?"
Bernard snorted and moved back to a sitting position. "Honey, I'd love to, but there's still one more thing I have to make right." He pulled a small, red velvet box from his pocket.
Knowing on-sight what it was, you gasped.
"The wedding I attended earlier today made me realize one thing: I wanted you there. In fact, I want you by my side for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?" He opened the case to reveal an astonishingly beautiful ring.
Tears were going to spill from your eyes if you spoke, but you broke through your nod to confirm anyway, "Yeah!" You couldn't even from the whole word 'Yes', but you what you said was enough for Bernard.
You placed your right hand on his cheek to pull him in for a kiss, which was only broken so the two of you could watch Bernard slide the ring onto your left ring finger. The two of you kissed again. "I love you," Bernard broke the kiss to say.
"I love you, too," you promised in the light of your twinkling Christmas tree.

Due Back
Relationship: Bernard the Elf x Reader
Fandom: The Santa Clause
Request: No
Warnings: Fluff, Slight Angst
Word Count: 1,535
Main Masterlist: Here
The Santa Clause Masterlist: Here
Summary: For the past couple of years, Bernard gets ahead of his paperwork for the week of Thanksgiving, and takes a little vacation. No one knows where he goes, and he won’t tell anyone. No matter how convincing.
Consider Donating: Here
Today was the day! Bernard had a little extra pep in his step as he made his final round around the workshop floor. Everything was running just as smoothly as it should have been. His lists had been made, checked once then twice, and passed out so that everyone knew exactly what to do while he was away.
Normally, no one could pull Bernard away from the workshop during any time of year. And yet for some reason, for the last few years, something or someone had been doing just that. How else to explain Bernard’s actions during the final week of November? All of the elves had gotten used to it over the last several years, but it was still odd for them. They had quickly learned though that he was never going to tell them what he does in the week he is gone.
His boss, on the other hand, was not so easily pacified.
As soon as November 1st comes along, he notices a stark change in his head elf. Bernard was even more focused on getting everything on track. The never ending pile of paperwork that he had suddenly vanished into completed folders. Any and all specialty items were taken care of before he disappeared. But what was the strangest behavior the Santa noticed, was the smile that seemed to be permanently etched onto his head elf’s face.
Bernard was especially happy during this time of year, whereas it used to be his most stressful time. Not to be mistaken, it still was, but there was something in Bernard’s life now that took some of that stress off. He had one last folder to deliver to Santa, who took this as the perfect opportunity to grill him.
“Santa, I have the progress reports for the last week right here for you.” A decorative red and gold binder containing the entire week’s updates were placed upon the big man’s desk.
“Brilliant, Bernard. Well done. This wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that you are about to go see whatever it is that can actually put a smile on your face is it?” Scott teased, watching the elf’s cheeks flush with a rosy glow.
“Just taking my week of vacation, sir,” he replied sheepishly. The older man, however, wanted to know exactly what was going on. Surprisingly, the whole “Santa sees you when you’re sleeping and knows when you’re awake” thing only applies to humans. Not elves.
“Come on. How long have we worked together now? What do you do when you’re away from the pole, Mr. Workaholic.”
“Sorry, Santa. That is a secret just for me to know. If there is nothing else, I’ll be on my way. Curtis is more than capable to step into my shoes for the week.” As fast as he could, so as to not allow Scott an in, Bernard left the office.
“Bernard,” called the man now stroking his beard thoughtfully, “whoever it is, keep her around.”
The elf stood there for a moment as his mouth gaped open and closed like a fish. Without a word to dignify with that comment with a response, Bernard turned on his heels and left the office for good this time. His bags were packed, and he was able to finally leave.
He took one of their newest reindeers as his transportation. No one batted an eye at Bernard saddling up Lumi for the journey ahead. The sweet girl had just finished her basic training to help pull Santa’s sleigh, but that was still weeks out. Bernard would return her in plenty of time.
Snow barely phased him anymore. Living in the North Pole his entire life, the elf was very used to the cold. So as he made his descent to the backyard of the home he was aiming for, the welcomed sight of a white covered ground greeted him. Just as he tied Lumi to one of the trees, a light flicked on inside. A smile broke free against his will, and Bernard made his way to the back door. His key slipped into the lock right as another went into the front door. The second he stepped inside, warmth spread through him.
“Bernard! You’re here,” and he was nearly knocked over by the weight oh someone tackling him in a hug.
“I’m here, my dear. I’ve missed you.” His arms wrapped around the woman, and he reveled in the feeling that spread through him.
There were few things that managed to warm him, but none like her hugs. Pulling back just a bit to see her face, Bernard found that the both of them were tracing over every feature of the other. She was another year older, with a new fine crinkle by her eyes, a new freckle that had not been there before. He knew that he looked the exact same, but he could not help it.
“Do you want to help me with dinner? I just need to make the sides and pop the rolls in.” She offered, not yet releasing herself from his hold.
“Of course. I’m starving, and I have been dreaming about your roast chicken. You actually know how to baste.”
Thus, the human and the elf settled back into a familiar routine of domesticity. She worried over the seasonings for their meal, while Bernard made sure nothing burned. He helped with plating their sides and rolls, and carried the chicken to the table, while she followed after with some more food.
They did not eat like this the entire time Bernard was here, but the first and last day was special. Tucking themselves into their chairs, the pair begun to dig into their meal. Some light conversation flowed between them, but nothing too deep. It was not until they had retired to the couch that the dialogue took a more serious turn.
Bernard stoked the flames of the fireplace before coming back to sit on the couch with his favorite person. While he sat upright against the back, she leaned over and snuggled into his side. Her head rested against his chest with his heartbeat beating underneath her ear.
“When do I have to give you back?” She turned just a little so that she was able to look up at her partner. They had never quite put a label on what they were, but both knew that they were in love with each other.
“November 30th. I don’t have to leave till late at night though.” Bernard’s fingers began to card through her hair from where she rested.
“Ah. Back in time for last minute preparations.” She mused, to which he nodded in agreement.
“Yeah…” but he did not sound excited about it. His hand stilled on top of her head. In fact, in the last few years, Bernard was increasingly less happy to go back.
“What’s up?” He sighed and stared into the flames ahead.
“What if I didn’t have to go back?”
It was out in the open now. The feeling that he had felt for some time was there for her to react to. And react she did. She sat up incredibly quick and barely missed hitting Bernard’s chin in the process. Her eyes were wide, and her mouth gaped open.
“What do you- what? Huh? What does that mean, B? You have to go back. You told me that elves can’t stay for long periods of time away from the pole.” She was utterly dumbfounded. Her flabbers were gasted.
“Well,” he tried to cut in and explain, “there is actually a way for elves to be away from the pole. It just hasn’t been done in centuries. But it requires us giving up our longevity and magic. In essence, we become human.”
She sat back on the other end of the couch, and did not speak. The longer she stayed quiet, the more nervous Bernard got. This was definitely not the reaction he was expecting. He messed with his hands and felt himself flush, and not because of the warm fire ahead.
“Is that something you’re thinking about?” Her question was spoken so softly, so quietly; it sounded almost angelic.
“Um, a bit. I was just thinking how nice it would be if I could stay here. With you.” He admitted, gazing down at his hands.
“Would you be happy?”
Bernard thought that question was ridiculous. Of course he would. Sure, he would miss the pole, but he wanted to be here. He needed to be here. Curtis was a promising protege and already adept at running the factory and all its runnings without him. Maybe it was time for him to move on. Bernard wanted to be selfish for once in long life.
“Yes.”
Her arms were thrown over him, and he returned the sentiment. Pulling her closer, he set her on his lap as he burrowed into her neck. She placed her cheek on top of his hat that covered his dark curls. They sat just like that for who knows how long. But while they did, Bernard made his choice right then and there.
This would be the last year that Bernard was going to be due back for Christmas.

Sweet like sugar
Bernard x reader
✧oral sex with Bernard
✧Smut!
✧masterlist here!
Bernard was a very busy elf, being head elf and all. He loved you so much even if he couldn’t be with you all the time. He knew that he wouldn’t be around you when Christmas was near.
He knew he wouldn’t be able to make it to dinner that night. He felt guilty because you had everything planned for tonight, even if you said it was fine he still thought that you were upset with him.
When he got home when Santa came back from delivering all the presents, he went straight home. When he unlocked the door, we didn’t bother taking his shoes off or anything, he went to find you straight away. He found you and smiled, but soon saw the sad look on your face.
“Oh, sugar pie, I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.” He said while making his way towards you to hug you and shower you with kisses, “It's okay, I know you're head elf, and with that comes responsibilities, Bernie.” “I know but I'll make it up to you, sugar.” he then moved you so you laid down, and his head was between your legs.
“y-you don't have to do anything,” you said while petting his head while he kissed your thihgs, “please, baby, let me make it up to you.” he continued to give your thighs kisses while he looked up at you with his big brown puppy dog eyes. You just couldn't resist!
“A-alright, Bernie,” He gave you a sweet smile and began to pull your shorts and underwear off. Once he saw how wet you were, he immediately popped a boner. He then started to make out with your wet cunt, tongue fucking you and bullying your cunt.
“A-Ah-! F-fuck, Bernie,” you moaned as you shoved his face deeper into your cunt, but he didn't mind, he needed to make it up to you. He just continued his assault on your cunny until he knew you were about to cum.
“I-I’m gonna c-cum-!” You mewled as he worked his tongue faster and harder, “cum for me, sugar,” you felt the coil in your stomach burst, sending your sweet juices on Bernard’s face.
He happily slurped up your sweet juices like a man in the desert, “m’so sorry, sugar pie. I never mean to make you wait for so long,” he said between kisses to your cunt. “It’s okay, Bernie. I know how stressful being head elf can be and how you need to stay late for work,”
You then moved his curls out of his face to see his beautiful brown eyes, “Merry Christmas, Bernie.” “Merry Christmas, sugar pie.”

The Boss' Daughter (Bernard the Elf X Calvin!Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: The best part of your dad becoming Santa Claus was probably meeting his right hand elf Bernard. But when your dad finds out about your secret relationship, he thinks the best thing is to keep you away from the North Pole until you get over your “little crush.”
A/N: thank you so much for 1.3k followers!!! it means so much! reader is in college, spending her winter break at the north pole. possibly ooc scott/santa ?? also lowkey forgot that lucy existed lmao
***
You loved Christmas. Even before your dad became Santa Claus, you enjoyed the holiday. Well, as much as you could, considering that some of your pre-Santa Dad memories involved your parents fighting and having two somewhat bland celebrations at different houses. Other than that, you enjoyed the occasion.
But you loved Christmas much more now, due to a certain elf.
“Here’s some cocoa.” You said softly, setting the piping hot mug on Bernard’s desk as he read over some paperwork. He quickly scanned over the last paragraph on the page before looking up at you.
“Hey,” Bernard said softly, giving you a smile. “Thanks.” He grabbed the mug and took a sip, visibly relaxing from his stiff, hunched-over position. You leaned against his desk, drinking from your own cup. “How’s your day been?”
“Probably better than yours.” You laughed, looking at the vast amount of papers on Bernard’s desk.
“Yeah, probably.” He agreed, sighing at the sight before looking back at you. “But my day’s getting better now that you’re here.”
“Well, aren’t you sweet?” You giggled, feeling your cheeks heat up. No matter how cold the North Pole was, Bernard’s words always made you feel warm and fuzzy inside, as cheesy as that is. You push off from the desk and stand, taking another sip of your cocoa. “So, I have a question.”
Bernard pouted, turning his chair to face you.
“And here I thought you just wanted to see my handsome face and give me treats.” He joked. You snickered, slapping his shoulder lightly before settling in his lap, putting an arm around his shoulders to stabilize yourself. Bernard put the hand that wasn’t holding his mug on your waist, keeping you close. “What’s your question?”
“Well, I know that you get really stressed leading up to Christmas.” You twirled some of Bernard’s curls around your finger as you spoke. “And I know that you’d probably rather be running around the workshop making sure everything’s in order while my dad’s gone. And I came up here to spend my break with you, but I don’t exactly wanna spend it chasing you around the workshop.”
“Isn’t there supposed to be a question?” Bernard teased, and you rolled your eyes.
“I was getting there.” You said. “Anyways, I was wondering if we could do something together while my dad’s gone. Like go ice skating or look at the lights around the North Pole or something.”
“Y/n, you can do that any day.”
“Yeah, but not as a couple.” You argue gently. “Whenever my dad’s around, everything feels so awkward because we’re trying so hard not to give away the fact that we’re together. Christmas Eve is the one day that he’ll be away, and everyone else will be so busy making sure the night goes smoothly that they won’t notice us sneaking away.”
“Angel, I’m like, the main guy who has to make sure the night goes smoothly.”
You pouted, knowing Bernard was right. Although you knew he loved his job, sometimes you wished he wasn’t Head Elf. More of your limited time could be spent together. Plus, you wouldn’t have to worry so much about your father, who your boyfriend worked directly under, finding out you were dating.
“It was just an idea.” You sighed a bit dejectedly as you leaned more into Bernard. “I just… I wish we could do couple things, you know? Like in public. But I know Dad would probably go ballistic, and I’m not exactly confident in the other elves’ ability to keep a secret.”
“Yeah, I know,” Bernard replied softly, kissing the side of your head before taking a gulp of hot chocolate. “One day, it’ll be different.”
The two of you fell into a comfortable silence, drinking and taking each other’s warmth. Eventually, Bernard looked down into his empty mug and sighed.
“I should get back to work.” He said, clearly not wanting to. You nodded, shifting in his lap to stand up when Bernard squeezed your hip. You looked at him with a raised brow. “At least give me a kiss before you go, angel.”
You grinned and did as he requested. Both of you tasted like chocolate and peppermint, and you couldn’t help but giggle when Bernard went in for another kiss when you pulled away.
Distracted by what you were doing, you and Bernard failed to hear a knock on his office door or the person opening it.
“What’s going on here?” You and Bernard broke apart, looking over to see your father looking at you in shock. You jumped out of Bernard’s lap, trying to seem like you weren’t just making out with him.
“Hey, Dad.” You said, your voice wavering from your nervousness. “What are you doing here?”
“What am I doing here?” It was clear that he wasn’t a fan of what he just saw. “What are you doing here, on his lap?”
You and Bernard didn’t answer; you didn’t really know how to. All three of you stared at each other, you and Bernard with slight fear and your dad with sternness. The tension grew unbearably thicker by the second.
“How long has… this been going on?” Your dad finally asked. He wasn’t stupid; it was safe to assume that there was some kind of relationship between you and his Head Elf.
“Um…” You were glad Bernard decided to answer the question, because you’re pretty sure your voice died in your throat. He played with a pen on his desk, not wanting to look up at Scott. “About two… Yeah, two years.”
“Years?”
“Dad, don’t freak out.” You took a step towards him, and his gaze snapped to you.
“I forbid this. Forbid it, Y/n.”
“I’m an adult; you can’t stop me from dating Bernard.”
“Oh, yes, I can.” Your dad laughed, but he was far from amused. “You’re my daughter, and he’s my employee. My elf employee.”
“We’re grown-ups; we’re allowed to decide whether or not we want to date.” You knew arguing with your dad was a bit pointless, but you figured you might as well try.
“You’re right, you are grown-ups. Bernard is over a thousand years old!” Under different circumstances, you would’ve laughed. Although you looked the same age, Bernard was an immortal being. One of the things you teased him about was being a grumpy old man, which he would always respond to with an eye roll. Your dad sighed, putting his hands on his hips as he thought. “Y/n, pack your stuff. I’m sending you to your mother’s.”
“What?” Bernard was out of his chair and by your side in an instant, both of you shocked by your dad’s words. “You’re not serious.”
“I’m as serious as frostbite! And until you get this little crush out of your system… Y/n, you can’t come back to the North Pole.”
***
You felt numb all over. It had been five days since you left the North Pole, since you last saw Bernard. Your goodbye was filled with tears and kisses that your dad didn’t see. Bernard promised that he would see you again someday soon, and you didn’t have the heart to tell him you didn’t believe that.
You tried to put on a happy face for your family. But they all knew better. Your mother was mad at your father on your behalf, unable to understand how Scott could break his daughter’s heart by sending you away. Neil did his best to comfort you, being a psychiatrist and all. Charlie went on about how unfair it was that you couldn’t go to the North Pole anymore, slightly ignoring the fact that you didn’t care much about the North Pole compared to Bernard. And Lucy just hated to see you so sad, bombarding you with hugs every chance she got.
When Christmas Eve arrived, you wanted to hide under the covers. If your mom and Neil wouldn’t try to drag you out of bed, you’d sleep your way into the new year.
Your parents coaxed you into watching movies with them later that night. Despite the occasion, they steered clear of the Christmas movies, not wanting you to cry more than you already have. But Bernard was still on your mind as you toyed with the necklace that he had given you for Christmas one year, right before he admitted that he liked you.
While your family argued over what to watch next, you got up and went to the kitchen to make yourself some tea.
You put the kettle on the stove and picked out some sleepytime tea, hoping that would make the night end faster. When it started whistling, you took the kettle off the burner. You heard frantic knocking on the door as you poured the hot water into your mug.
“Who could be knocking at this hour?” Neil murmured as he got up and went to the door. When he opened it, he froze for a second before popping his head into the kitchen. “Y/n, it’s for you.”
Confused, you left the kitchen. You didn’t tell any of your friends that you were in town, so you had no idea who was waiting for you on the other side of that door.
“Hey, angel.”
You couldn’t help but gasp at the sight of Bernard standing in front of you. At first, you thought it was your imagination, some cruel joke being played by your subconscious. But when you reached out to him, and he immediately laced your fingers together, you knew it was real.
You yanked him into the house, wrapping your arms around him with almost the strength of a death grip. Bernard did the same, burying his head into the crook of your neck.
Being too wrapped up in your little reunion, you didn’t notice your parents tell your siblings that it was time for bed in order to give you and Bernard some privacy. When you finally pulled away, you were a bit surprised to find the room empty. But you weren’t going to complain about it.
“What are you doing here?” You asked Bernard, still trying to wrap your head around the fact that he was here, right in front of you.
“You said you wanted to be together for Christmas Eve.” Bernard held your cheek and kissed you sweetly, showing all the yearning you had both felt this past week. “I don’t care what your father says,” Bernard whispered against your lips, giving you a few pecks. “He can’t keep us apart. I’ll retire and leave the North Pole if I have to.”
“You don’t mean that.” You shook your head, grabbing Bernard’s hands. “Bernard, you love your job, even if it drives you crazy.”
“I’d go even crazier without you, Y/n. Not knowing where or how you are.” Bernard argued, squeezing your hands. “You know, I liked having you all to myself at first, but it’s so hard having to pretend I don’t love you as much as I do.” Your breath hitched at the sincerity in his confession.
“You love me?” Your voice was barely above a whisper, but with how close Bernard was, he heard it as clear as day.
“Of course I do, Y/n.” Bernard kissed you again, and then a few more times.
“I love you too.” You responded between the kisses.
Eventually, you were somehow all out of kisses to give. The two of you moved to one of the couches, where you cuddled up together. You didn’t need to put on a movie or say anything. You just soaked up each other’s presence that you had missed so dearly.
“Should we head to bed?” You asked after a long silence. “Or do you need to head back home?”
“I left Curtis in charge.”
“Oh, then you should definitely go back.” You snickered. You knew Bernard wasn’t entirely fond of Curtis, but he could probably hold down the fort for one night. “Come on, I’m tired.”
You stood up, Bernard close behind you. You started to lead him out of the living room when you heard a thump. Startled, you turned around to the source of the sound, seeing a giant red sack in your fireplace.
“Oh god.” You whispered, gripping at Bernard’s arm. You’d run up the stairs and hide in your room, but you felt frozen in your place. Bernard seemed to have the same sentiment, because the two of you stood and watched black boots appear in the fireplace.
Soon enough, your dad emerged, freezing as he saw the two of you.
“Y/n, I- Bernard? What are you doing here?” He straightened up, looking at the two of you inquisitively. It was softer than the last time he looked at you and Bernard, but you were still a bit weary.
“I came to see Y/n,” Bernard answered, feeling braver than he did while interacting with your father for the past week.
“Yeah, I can see that.”
“Look, Dad.” You took a deep breath. As happy as you were to have Bernard back, you wanted to go back to hiding under your covers. “We don’t care that I’m human and he’s an elf. Or that he’s a thousand-year-old grumpy man.”
“Hey!”
“Bernard and I, we love each other. You represent a holiday that’s all about being together with the people you love; how could you try to keep us apart?”
Scott was quiet, staring at you with a blank expression. Eventually, he sighed.
“You’re right.” He said. “It was wrong of me to do that. I just… I don’t want my daughter getting hurt, is all. No father wants that. I’m sorry.”
Happy that he seemed to change his mind about the situation, you ran around the couch and hugged your dad. Being the big, jolly man he was, his embrace lifted you slightly off your feet.
“If you want, you can come back,” Scott said when he set you down. “To the North Pole.”
“Maybe.” You say, going back to Bernard. “Maybe I could go in the morning, bring the rest of the family.”
“That sounds good to me.” Your dad said, taking presents out of his giant sack and putting them under the tree. While placing them, he glanced at Bernard. “Bernard, if you’re here, who’s looking over the shop?”
From the corner of your eye, you saw Bernard’s jaw clench, and you let out a small giggle.
“Curtis…”
“Oh boy. Have fun with that.” Your dad laughed, setting down the last of the presents and tying up the sack. He pointed at you. “No peeking, Y/n. Not until morning.”
“I promise.” You said, knowing that you would grab a present to open right after he left. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“I’m guessing you’re staying here tonight too?” Scott asked Bernard, who nodded. “Okay. Take care of her.”
“I will.” The two men knew they weren’t talking about Bernard caring for you for just the night. They knew it would be much longer than that.
You waved goodbye to your father, and he soon disappeared up the chimney, leaving you and Bernard alone in the living room once again.
“I’m glad you came.” You said, leaning into Bernard’s side and resting your head on his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around you and looked down at you.
“Me too.” He kissed your head. “I know you might still be tired, but there’s still about an hour of Christmas Eve left, and this neighborhood has really nice Christmas lights. We can go look, if you want?”
You squealed, kissing Bernard’s cheek and running to get your shoes.

Having sinful thoughts of riding bernards thigh😃 (the velvet would feel so good tho🤭)
"Not so silent night"
•Warnings: smut, thigh riding, mentions of being caught, mentions of female masterbation, FEM! Reader, let me know if I missed anything
•Synopsis: (Y/N) is feeling really neglected and Bernard doesn't seem to notice till she's practically humping him like a dog...
-----
Christmas Eve..now this was quite the sight. Elf's everywhere, Santa on his second check of the list, and Bernard...oh Bernard.
He was everywhere all at once, trying to make sure everything was in order making sure that no cookie was burnt, every wrapped gift looked perfect. Not to mention he had to keep Curtis in order.
And you knew how selfish you were being. You were always selfish when it came to your boyfriend. Selfish because you saw the way certain elf girls looked at him
You knew what a vital part of the workshop he was but you just couldn't bring yourself to care. You'd spent countless nights touching yourself since the start of November, moaning so loud..maybe even hoping he would hear and come accommodate for you.
---
You say in you and your boyfriends shared room watching a movie while he was out doing who knows what. And once again the same as the past two months. You were horny
You waited patiently for Bernard to arrive so you could ask for some desperately needed attention.
Everything seemed to be heightened, the way the sheets felt against your legs, the cold winters air on brushing your neck. It was almost like you were a dog in heat
If there was anyone to see the look on your face they would know. Anyone but Bernard.
He walked into the room with his brows furrowed carrying a bunch of rolled up blue prints "hi sweetheart" no response. "Bernie?" Nothing.
You say looking at his back as he sat down at his desk tracing his index finger over the words and print onto the blue paper and sighed
You were already built up as it was so seeing him moving his fingers around like that was just..wow
Before you could think your body was already moving, feet carrying you until you were standing behind him with your hands in his hair.
"Bernard..." you ran your hands down to his shoulders and collar bones rubbing and squeezing "please come lay with me" your voice pleading with him begging for affection.
"you know that I can't" his response was short and cold. I mean he didn't even look up at you when he said it.
---
He wasn't budging. Nothing..and you needed him. You needed to feel him...
You slowly walked over to the large fire place after you grabbed a box of matches off his desk. You watched the fire start as you walked over to turn off the lights so the room was just enough lit to seem romantic.
"(Y/N) I can't see the-" he halted when you sat down on his thigh resting all your weight on him "(Y/N)..?" You weren't wearing anything under your red nightdress...just in case.
The velvet of his pants..oh my god...
"mmm.." your hips started slowly moving forward and back and you placed your hands in his hair throwing your head back "m' love you.." your hips sped up
Bernard looked up at you with a sad look on his face.
"poor baby...so built up so horny...humping me like a dog" it felt so good to finally have your boyfriend's attention back. To have him look at you again like he needed you.
"I'm so sorry baby..I've been neglectful hm?" You looked up at him with doe eyes nodding your head "mhm.."
"we'll be a good girl and get yourself off on my thigh. Use me to make yourself feel good. You deserve it."
You sped up now moving your hips in small fast circles feeling your orgasm approach "Bernard...I-" you cut yourself off with a loud moan
"shh you don't want everyone knowing how you act when we're alone do you?" You shook your head "no sir"
Bernard loves being called sir. Being head elf and all, it really boosts his ego.
He rested his hands on your hips to help you speed up "yeah you don't want anybody to know you're the head elf's little slut" he rested his lips on your neck "but we both know you are"
---
"please baby. Please stain my pants with your hot need" that was all you needed. You were pushed over the edge. The coil in your stomach snapped just as fast as it was built up "Bernard I'm cumming- shit shit shit oh my- nughh-"
His hand rested on the side of your face as you rode out your orgasm kissing you as you moaned into his mouth.
"t-thank you..."
