So I'm slowly reading through the Homies AU, but are certain ships still canon in this Crossover AU? So Kimron and Jakerose, along with implied romances like Fowlham?
Uuuummmm not really? With the exception of KimRon - the only canon ship that would appear or be relevant in any way in this AU (and even then it wont be a focus of stories at all) - all the other canon ships are not canon I guess. Like, they sorta happened, but in current HoM time all of them are single, lol? So, at most, the canon ships might be mentioned as 'past' relationships (e.g. like DannyxValerie/Sam or BenxJulie/Kai) or 'almost-could-have-been-situationships' (e.g. JakexRose, RexxCirce or JennyxSheldon). I still haven't decided what to do with FowlHam, due to the present timeline plot, but it most likely won't become canon, too.
I don't necessarily dislike most canon ships, but i also don't particularly uuuu like most of them either, you know? So, I don't really care too much about them either way, to make them a big part in this AU.
#que?#hom au q&a#tbh most canon ships are sort of a bit boring?? kind of? meh to me personally? never could get into them even when i was younger#BUT i ngl almost a lot of canon ships have a LOT of potential for some angsty plot related mentions that would be relevant to events#tho i guess i would be less focused on romantic part of those relationships but- on- like just?? the relationships itself??#does that makes sense lol

Omg! I just watched the B10:AF ep “Veeedle, Vreedle” and I now see what your talking about with Julie! I mean, I always believed you, but now I am seeing it with my own eyes! I haven’t watched Ben 10 in some, just recently started to rewatch it (found you blog and I love it!), and I always remembered feeling weird about their (Ben & Julie) relationship. I didn’t remember this ep I rewatched it and I notices something. (1) when the Vreedles come to repo, Ship is on the offensive & starts morphing
into weapons. Julie tells Ship “I don’t want them to see how valuable you are” and instead calls Ben(who comes with in seconds!!) (2) when with Gwen and Kevin, they find out the court order is legit, Ben says “somebody can use him [Ship] as a weapon” Gwen: “AND you DON’T want Julie to LOSE her pet EITHER, right BEN?” Ben passively says he agrees and Julie calls him out on it not being sincere
(3) Julie ask Gwen would Ben care if Ship was “just a dog, my [Julie] dog” (4) When Ben & Kevin comes back from court Julie is happy b/c Ben went “halfway across the galaxy” for her. But when Ben tells her that he feels, in light of all of this, that Julie is putting a lot of pressure on their relationship, Kevin tells him “it’s just a dog”. Like people Ship is not a dog! Ship is a sentient Mechamorph! You perceive it to act like a dog! Is there even dogs in space?!
Julie starts the episode saying that Ship is powerful, latter saying the same thing to Gwen, but once Ben says the exact same thing that she says, all of a sudden it’s wrong. I’m with Ben, that thing can kill you, your family, or anyone at any given time! Ship, though friendly, it’s not a toy or pet. Ship is like owning a gun; it’s cool and you can take it to the shooting range for “fun” BUT it doesn’t take away how deadly it is.
Gwen & Kevin might be so relaxed b/c they have seen and can handle things like this. But Julie hasn’t, she literally had to call Ben for help b/c she couldn’t protect herself! And what if he couldn’t answer his phone?! But lucky for Julie he comes on time to help, but after that Julie questions if Ben cares about ship. Girl, he cares about you and Ship on two different levels. Even if Ship was a dog, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t go out his way unless it was important.
Julie is important to Ben & Ship is important to Julie, therefore Ship is important to Ben. But again you can’t ignore how dangerous Ship is, or the potential to be. But the worst thing is Ben opened the conversation about what he feels in the relationship, but Julie looks offended and Kevin dismisses Ben. If anyone says they feel pressure in a relationship, THATS SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT! Your partner should feel safe & comfortable with you not pressure.
His grievances are dismissed but when Julie got a problem, she’ll raise hell for Ben. And note that this is in the beginning of their relationship and latter Ben doesn’t start these types of conversations anymore, he is mostly reacting or apologizing (to my memory, still rewatching). And I’m surprise that Gwen, of all people, doesn’t have Ben’s back more often. In OS when Kai was first introduced, I remember Gwen sticking up for Ben when he was treated unfairly. Seeing this, I personally think Ben stayed in the relationship b/c he’s lonely & wants intimacy with someone. It used to be Grandpa Max & Gwen, but they now have lives and responsibilities outside of Ben. Often times people who are lonely overindulge in intimacy, i.e always wanting to be around people no matter how long & if it’s good or bad . Some who are quick to romantic relations often do it b/c it’s a quick way to companionship.
I’m not saying Ben doesn’t love Julie, I’m saying is that he emotionally needs Julie more that what she knows and what she can give him. It’s funny how in OV when Rook and Ben become friends, girls start throwing themselves at Ben but he doesn’t care. Julie is traveling and he doesn’t freak out, instead believes the best and let her do her thing. Why? B/c he has Rook, he has a friend that will never leave his side. He finally gets that companion & intimacy he wanted.
Therefore, no longer NEEDING to hold onto or pursue romantic relations. Instead he’s free to get a gf when he wants one. It’s sad b/c Ben is a empathetic guy, he is so open hearted, kind, forgiving, lighthearted, & trustworthy but people see that as a flaw. Ben will fight for you however you need it, at any cost, but rarely is it returned. He can’t afford to feel bad, to be anything less than Ben 10/10.
I personally think, within story, Ben deserved better romantic partners or should just stay single. The girls say they given more than they get, but they should know who they’re dating. He couldn’t stop being a hero if he tried, b/c it’s who he is! He’s not dumb, he’ll make “gf time”, but he also needs “me time”. He’ll do what they want, but to do what he wants they’re reluctant or wants something out of it *cough* the D *cough*. It seems like they all are in love with
—————————————————————-
Yes!! I’m so glad people are noticing!
First, the “dog” situation…SHIP IS NOT A DOG. Just because he is seemingly programmed to mimic an earth dog, doesn’t make him any less a weapon. It’s the equivalent of having a machine gun painted pink. Cute, but still deadly.
Ben is right to see Ship for what he is, and in doing so, it proves that he cares about Julie because he cares that she’s in possession of what could be highly dangerous alien weaponry.
Why does he need to go half way across the universe for her to see that??
Is he supposed to just agree with her delusion? Okay, “delusion” might be a little harsh, but he’s had so much experience with dangerous alien technology, even being able to become a Galvanic Mechamorph himself because of the potentially dangerous alien technology literally on his wrist, that he would know what he’s talking about. She doesn’t even know the half of it at this point!
Why does she not care that he’s looking out for her?? How does that make him a bad boyfriend? Just because he disagrees with her?
Who wouldn't feel under pressure when this is a problem very early into your relationship?
Part of me just thinks that they’re reading him wrong. Maybe it should be obvious that Ben saying “I think Ship could be used as a weapon” would translate to “I care about Julie’s safety”, but to her it seems to not have been so clear, unfortunately.
Similarly, I hear a lot of people talk about how much of a problem Ben’s “attitude” is when debating things in relation to this pairing. Although this is probably more common when discussing Ultimate Alien.
But honestly? If you don’t like someone’s attitude, why would you stay in a relationship with them?
Are relationships for changing your partner to suit your own preferences? And if their own opinions and perspectives don’t line up with yours, even if they’re right, does that make them a bad partner?
Flaws are subjective. Clearly what these characters thought was ‘bad’ about Ben, we see the good in.
He is not fundamentally a terrible boyfriend.
It’s interesting that you say Ben chose to stay in the relationship due to feelings of loneliness and longing for intimacy that he was lacking. I have my own particular issues with Rook, but, for the most part, I’m willing to slightly overlook those flaws because I’m glad he was there for Ben when he needed someone during the beginning of Omniverse. But that really makes it clear why he stuck around.
I hate when people argue that he was neglectful and ignorant towards her, which is what made her leave. Or, more accurately, “ghost him.”
I don’t recall anyone in “Rules of Engagement ever definitively saying that it had been months between the last time Ben and Julie spoke.
Ben is sixteen in both Ultimate Alien and Omniverse, apparently. If that is true, SO MUCH HAPPENS THAT YEAR! He gains fame, takes down his childhood hero (Captain Nemesis), deals with Ultimate Kevin and Aggregor, deals with the Forever Knights becoming increasingly more violent, defeats Vilgax and Dagon with Ascalon, loses his old team, becomes friends with Rook. deals with Khyber hunting him down, has old wounds ripped open and faces off Malware, gets kicked off the planet while the Incuseans enslave Earth before coming back to save everyone…and that’s not even the whole show!
They had a falling out between Ben defeating Vilgax and Dagon, and the frog war. Compared to how many events can fit into a year of his life. that couldn’t have been an extremely long time. Two months, maximum.
But more importantly, he must have been so overwhelmed. It’s so unfortunate that he feels like he can’t express that in fear of people not seeing him as the strong, unbreakable hero he is always expected to be.
Overall, I definitely agree that he deserved better than what he got. And I could be petty and plug my own self insert oc who I ship with him (and do it right lol) but I’ll save it. Thank you for letting me know my words make a difference!

Salty ask game: What OTP do you just not get?
Hello! Thank you for the ask! 1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get? Honestly? For miraculous it's Adrigami, XYxLuka, and Maribat (though I guess that's its own separate fandom now, huh?). For Ben 10 it's honestly BenxJulie. I guess it's not entirely accurate with Adrigami though... I do get why people like them together but I... I just don't get why I can't see it? I have tried but I just... I just can't. I really want to, too. But no matter how hard I try I only see them as friends. XY and Luka I just don't see it. I also don't really like it. There's just not much there to go off of... Maribat has never made any sense to me and it never will. I will never get it. From my perspective I think Damian and Marinette would nearly kill each other before ever becoming even friends. They have such constrasting view points and huge amounts of stubbornness that spells disaster. That and Damian pretty much hates people so Marinette would be screwed from the beginning. As for BenxJulie... I just don't like them together that much. Sure, they have some cute moments but I find Julie to be kind of a bad girlfriend. I also found it increasingly annoying that Gwen was always taking Julie's side in Ben and Julie's arguements. Freaking 1. it's not your freaking relationship and none of your freaking business. 2. Please stop giving your cousin hell for freaking putting saving lives over his girlfriend, OMD. You know the reason and you get mad at him otherwise when he decides to goof off instead of playing hero. You should be giving him advice like breaking up with her so he stops screwing them both over. When Ben and her got together it kind of ruined her character for me much like the whole Kai and Ben thing that, at least most people agree on, sucked. It also kind of ruined Gwen a bit for me. I am also of the opinion Ben feels very much like Sonic where he feels like he just doesn't need anybody. I think he's better single. But if you like these ships you are allowed to and I see no real harm in them (as long as your being respectful of others and not forcing it down peoples' throats). I love seeing the content made for these couples even if I can't personally enjoy it like the people who ship them. I don't hate these ships either, I just can't enjoy them. But I'm glad others can and who knows... maybe one day I will change my mind... Thanks for the ask and I hope you're having a wonderful day, night, evening, afternoon, or whatever time it is where you are. <3 Salty Asks Here

(I leave for 2 weeks and this is what I come back to lol)
basically certain Ben stans were complaining about Sarcastic Chorus' video on BenxJulie when it first came out, and then saying that Julie was toxic and Ben was perfect, and anybody who doesn't say Ben is perfect are delusional and bla bla bla...
And it only got worse when the BenKai vid came out.
I'm honestly over it at this point. If they wanna clown, I'll let em do it in peace. *bad british accent* Clowns, the lot of 'em.
Ben Stans Let People Criticize Ben Tennyson Without Going Off ChallengeTM (IMPOSSIBLE)
Disclaimer: Ben is my all time favorite character in fiction. No, I don't hate him, I just don't like how some (not all) Ben stans treat him like he's this perfect angel.
Am I upset that people call Ben a sociopath, a narcissist, and a psycho?? U M Y E A H. It's straight up ableist and going way too far. But dare somebody say, "I don't like how Ben acted in this episode" y'all then proceed to call them Ben Haters and (omfg I hate this word) delusional.
Y'all need to take a chill pill...no several actually.

A lot of people hate that Benlie broke up. I get it.
And a lot of people blame Ben because he didn't call her for months, apparently. So that assumption is supposed to indicate that he's "bad at communication."
If you remember earlier in Ultimate Alien, specifically "Eye of the Beholder", after Ben and Julie reconciled, he said that he "promises to try to do better."
Not only did he take all the blame, but he was reasonable and promised to try to be more like what she wanted, within reason.
What exactly did Julie want?
According to the her behaviour in Ultimate Alien and some UAF comics, Julie hates the media exposing their relationship...
...she hates that Ben's fame and responsibilities take up a lot of his time because she wanted to be put first, and she wants him to realize that, as she put it, her life is "just as important as his."
Which, no one should doubt he believes as well. In “The Perfect Girlfriend”, Ben is shown driving Julie to the airport when he was going to “abuse his fame” to spend more time with her before she leaves for three weeks for her tournament. Ben is supportive of what is important to her, but she is also important to him.
When the scanner picks up a distress call, and it gets Ben’s attention, he immediately decides he has to go and deal with it because this can’t wait. Apparently, Julie might have had the option of going on her flight the next day, but regardless if this is true, she misinterprets Ben’s intentions saying her life is “just as important as his.”
What reason would Ben have to suggest she can go the next day other than being able to spend more time with her and walk her up to the gate so that they can have a proper goodbye?
After Ultimate Alien, we aren't told why Ben and Julie don't seem to have much time together any more until "Rules of Engagement."
And, this is where the blame is all put on Ben because Julie hung up their last (distracted) phone call and she never called back without explanation. In response to this, Ben doesn't pester her with the same concerns she voiced previously (his hero career taking up a lot of his time, having no time for her) because she wanted him to realize that her own life is important too.
Taking what she told him to heart, he promised to try to do things her way. Julie never called him back and tried to communicate, but Ben still encourages her to travel the world and pursue her tennis career without arguing that she doesn’t have time for him.
He never made her individuality and independence an issue.
He definitely could have took issue with her being away from him for long periods of time, where she could meet new guys (like Hervé).
The one time another girl showed interest, he never noticed or acted on Ester's advances, and even recoiled when she started getting too close too fast.
Basically...Ben let Julie have her freedom and she ghosted him. No wonder he seemed so heartbroken. He trusted her.
#not to put anyone on blast but#a thought#like...maybe ppl misinterpret Ben because he doesn't explain why he tries to do good#but then again why should this have to be explained#idk u guyz#ben 10 omniverse#ben tennyson#ben 10#ben 10 alien force#ben 10 ultimate alien#benlie#benxjulie#essay files

Read this if you think Ben is a “jerk”
This came to mind because of how much everyone seems to dislike Ben’s character in the episode “Duped.” In the episode itself he’s made to look really bad, there’s virtually no one on his side. There is no scene where he gets to redeem himself. I would even argue that the reason why Julie got so upset was because she didn't really know the whole story like she thought she did. He explained himself poorly, and she didn't know there were three versions of him with differing personalities in different places.
Why did he do this?
When he entered the arena (late because he was dealing with criminals), he really had no idea at what point the match was at currently. All Gwen said was that it was “about to start.” And then, as soon as he walks in, there’s ALL THIS ATTENTION thrown his way. Like, what’s he really going to do? say “NO DON’T LOOK AT ME”??
Now that everyone is pissed at him (for being caught up in hero work, and then being recognized for it), they make him look like the bad guy. Which is why any generic person watching this episode would just consume the media and then mindlessly agree. And then, to add to it, not only does he have a responsibility to be there for his girlfriend, but the Forever Knights are also conveniently committing a crime as they speak. Which, is also his responsibility. He also mentions that there is a new Sumo Slammers movie coming out that day, but OBVIOUSLY he isn’t allowed to even think about doing something he likes.
Let’s put this into perspective:
If he does what Julie and Gwen want, probably only Kevin would go to check out the Forever Knights situation, which could lead to more harm being caused elsewhere since Kevin wouldn't have backup since Ben is prioritizing a tennis match.
If Ben went with Kevin to stop the Forever Knights successfully, both Gwen and Julie would be pissed at him even though he was doing his job.
And if he went to see Sumo Slammers he would just be seen as a bad guy all around.
He doesn't have much of a choice. So what is his solution?
To please everyone, which was a good intention. But unfortunately, as the saying goes, “he who tries to please everyone, pleases no one.”
I believe this could have worked had he noticed the different “personalities”, and sent a different Ben to a different place. That was the biggest mistake, in addition to not really explaining what he has trying to do. In the end he didn't explain the intention behind his actions well enough, and subsequently it makes him look bad and concludes in this:
But…don’t condemn him yet.
A person’s true character in more apparent when they say something they really mean. And moving forward, near the end of Ultimate Alien, this is where his mindset is in response to other situations which deal with putting other people’s needs before his own.
“I never meant for you to suffer, any of you. And I’m sorry.” - Ben, before voluntarily giving up his life for the Ultimates, “The Ultimate Sacrifice”
Because, all along, he just wanted to…
“...help everybody at once.” - Ben, when given a chance to erase all evil from the Universe, “The Ultimate Enemy”
Would you not say that the two quotes above also apply to his belief system at the time of the episode “Duped”? Did he mean any harm by wanting to comply with what everyone expected of him?

Regarding Ben 10′s Harem Part 2: Does Ben deserve to be called a “player”?
My motivation for writing this is not to defend the idea of shipping Ben with a billion female characters at once, no shade if that is your thing. But I would just like to point out that this not something the canon portrayal of Ben seems to want or encourage.
And if having multiple women after him is not something he wants, then why does it seem like many of us in this fandom seem to blame him for having quite a few love interests? Why is he considered a “player”, “womanizer”, “philanderer”...and because of all these misconceptions, just a “bad boyfriend” in general?
It’s this view of all men that leads to seeing even fictional characters as useless and unfaithful.
This is a terrible misrepresentation of Ben from “Hero Time.” And, obviously, there are some...equally problematic comments as well.
This one has to do with the amount of love interests that have been established by Omniverse. This one makes it seem like, once again, this is all his fault.
This next one is very well drawn. The artist extremely artistically talented, but even here you can see they are upset with the show, as is said in the description.
The second piece included in this post also represents an important aspect of the storyline in UA. Specifically because this is one of the times there was a controversy about supposed infidelity, the episode “Hero Time.”
So, where did all this harem stuff even begin?
I would argue that it all began with "Hero Time." We are introduced to Jennifer Nocturne, a well known actress. And after Ben saves her life, she very randomly kisses him.
Now, hold on a second.
Why did she do this?
Jennifer is famous. Ben is famous. All they knew about each other at this point is that they are both famous for something.
I don't mean to stereotype, but something common among those who are famous and seek fame (unlike Ben, he didn't ask for fame), is that they want as much attention as they can get to stay relevant, whether that attention is good or bad. Kissing Ben 10 after he saved her life, especially with paparazzi and cameramen around, achieves her goal of staying relevant. Jennifer didn't know and probably didn't even think about the fact that Ben had a girlfriend at the time. She was the only one making moves on Ben, and as you can see, he looks uncomfortable.
And as shown later in the episode, she also seems to be the type to "use" guys. She used Ben in order to stay as talked about as possible, and then when she realized Ben had a girlfriend who he cared about, she moved on to Kevin.
And then, in "Catch a Falling Star", she moved on to Captain Nemesis/ Carl Nesmith. She was desperate, and seemed lost as she searched for somewhere she could belong and feel truly loved. You could even argue that she had a level of mental health issues.
In both "Hero Time" and "Catch a Falling Star", I would say that Ben was aware of this. This is especially apparent in the latter, since Ben was very focused on saving Jennifer. Jennifer's mental state very likely damaged, and Nemesis was equally damaged since he had recently gone from public figure to criminal very quickly. Jennifer didn't just go along with Nemesis out of love, she also began to adopt his beliefs.
She tried to kill Ben twice without remorse. This is a big jump from the random kiss she gave him in her first appearance.
And on top of all of this, where is the evidence that he was cheating? He said they were "just friends", and it was very clear that he was only hanging around her because it gave him the opportunity to also get to meet his own childhood hero, Captain Nemesis.
How damaging must it be to look down at his hero, on the ground, defeated, post committing a crime? Watching him become a villain - a villain who would have killed two people if he had not intervened.
Julie seemed to understand this to an extent, and her distaste for seeing a photo of another girl kissing her boyfriend is understandable. But he was not encouraging this “affair.”
After this, Julie was hardly around in the following episodes of Ultimate Alien. And from everything that happened in these following episodes, including the Ultimate Kevin Arc, Ben seemed very busy.
“The Transmogrification of Eunice” happens, and then “Eye of the Beholder” where we aren’t given much of an explanation, but apparently Ben and Julie are not on good terms any more at this time because according to Julie, he has very little time for her. The issue with the way these events are presented is that because there is little to no explanation and context as to exactly why they are fighting, it makes Ben look like the one to blame. He has no time for her, so she doesn't want to be with him, basically.
If this is true, doesn’t it make sense for both of them to be frustrated since it’s kind of out of their control?
Although the way Ben reacts in response to seeing her again after what he thought was their “break up” seems very harsh, he is immediately apologetic. This is because, once again, there has been a misunderstanding between them. It’s no wonder that in Omniverse he had no idea they were broken up because they seem to hardly ever be on the same page!
“I guess there’s no way to escape the things that really matter…like Julie.”
“She says I don’t spend enough time with her, that I take her for granted.”
The fact that he is thinking about this is important because he considers how she must be affected by the current state of their relationship.
Even though nobody is really considering how he feels because he’s the guy so his feelings don’t count apparently...
He still tries to fix the situation because he realizes the misunderstanding between them! He cares enough to try!
But I know many of you will still consider the previous episode “cheating.” But since this relationship wasn't fulfilling either of them any more, it isn’t really cheating when he believed he had been broken up with. The was some playful flirting with Eunice going on, but in the end, I actually find something admirable about Ben’s character in that episode.
Put yourself in Eunice’s place. You’ve woken up in a strange place, don’t remember who you are, or where you came from. Even your own name is foggy.
You’ve met three people who helped “save you.” Two of which are pretty suspicious of your whereabouts. What obligation do they have to believe anything you say, especially with all the alien stuff they’re already encountered? Would you not want to have someone who trusts you?
Defends you?
Reassures you that everything will be okay?
Aside from the romantic aspect of the plot, Ben was that person for Eunice.
I think what we need to do is put aside the fact the there are so many women “after him” and realize that they like him for a good reason. He is not sexist, he values their points of view, and treats them like people. Whether they are his girlfriend, or not.
The next love interest introduced into Ultimate Alien is Elena Validus, in “Revenge of the Swarm.” Kevin liked to joke about Ben and Elena’s alleged “interest” in each other, but when it really came down to it, Ben didn’t make any moves on her.
Elena kidnapped Julie, and then took the chance to make her move.
But his mind was very clearly on Julie. As soon as he heard any sounds of a struggle, he went to investigate immediately.
The next time there is another love interest supposedly interfering with Benlie is in the Omniverse episode “Hot Stretch.” And once again, throughout the entire episode, Ben doesn’t make any moves on Ester.
She does though, and Ben very clearly pushes her away.
In fact, many people in this fandom like to think that Ben is oblivious to romantic cues. So wouldn’t that mean that he wouldn’t know that any romantic hints were coming from Ester at all? How is that cheating?
And aside from that, unlike Rook, Ben treats Ester’s situation the way he did with the other love interests mentioned above. He realizes how she feels to be caught in this situation she didn't mean to cause and does what he can to fix the damage that has been done.
So, what I can conclude as the reason why Ben and Julie didn’t speak for a while is the fact that he was very preoccupied with his work and she was elsewhere doing her own tennis thing. Not only where their lives going in different directions, which is neither of their fault, but just like in “Eye of the Beholder”, they ran into a misunderstanding.
If being told “we shouldn’t see each other” is not a break up according to Julie, then hanging up a distracted phone call is not what Ben would consider a break up either. And that, to me, sounds understandable. Lack of communication and different point of view can definitely lead to that conclusion.
All of this seemed to give people the idea that Ben is a good hero, but a bad human. That is a little nonsensical though. How can someone do work that requires a level of morality, selflessness, and understanding, while simultaneously be useless a a human being?
#i mean just tell me if it makes sense for ben to be such a terrible person but a good hero#like...???#plz notice that there is virtually no one who completely understands where ben is coming from#much less any girl he is paired with unfortunately#so i guess how can i expect any one on tumblr to understand him?#sigh#ben tennyson#ben 10#ben 10 alien force#ben 10 ultimate alien#ben 10 omniverse#benlie#benxjulie#julie yamamoto#ben 10 eunice#ben 10 ester#elena validus#jennifer nocturne#essay files
