like I want to know how benrey and barney are specifically, i'm very curious

I am SO SO GLAD that you're asking about my lore/ship because I want to share more about my goobers and their universe!

Note: I do NOT know the entirety of Half-Life. I was making lore for my TSP (The Stanley Parable) universe which is a part of a multiverse. I watched HLVRAI by mistake when I mistook Benry for Barney and I just love HLVRAI and Benry that it’s hard not to put it in the lore.

About the Ship - GeeBees:

A proper love triangle where all three love, respect, and care for each other.

Gordon (he/him; FTM) is curious and everything about Benry fascinates him. Barney and Gordon are childhood friends and had become lovers after HL2 with Barney helping Gordon recover. Gordon would much prefer both his lovers safe and unhurt but understood that that'll happen once the Resistance finds a bigger base for shelter. Now, he stays at home taking care of himself and helping when needed, otherwise, he'd cuddle Benry and Barney when one or both are back home. He enjoys giving and receiving physical affection to his lovers and despises silence, so it's a blessing to have two lovers who make all the sounds they want around him. He was the reason why Benry sleeps between him and Barney after Benry warded off G-Man one night.

Benry is healing with Gordon and Barney for the better, he helps around with them and the Resistance base, and his affection is reciprocated and returned tenfold, it’s worse in a good way when Gordon and Barney proudly one-up Benry’s weirdness. He adores Gordon and is happy that he doesn't find him weird in a bad way and it does surprise him at first back at the simulation, but he grew to love his curious yet freaky nature of Gordon as he'd too learn new things about himself (like his true form(s), shapeshifting and purring). Barney and Benry just GET each other as they've experienced being left in the background and Barney could easily pick up Benry who is fine with being carried by hot people.

Barney had always been taking care of the two and making sure to not lose Gordon again, because of Benrey, Barney feels validated on his feelings and anxieties while also letting Benry help him around, though he does like to lightheartedly tease Benry. Barney and Gordon being childhood friends helped a lot on their relationship and meeting Benry somehow strengthened their bond as the duo became a trio. Benry and Gordon would pay Barney back for taking care of them by taking care of him too. Benry even helps by shapeshifting into Barney to take his place at Combine when Barney's unable to work. And when Barney's anxieties get to him, Benry can purr and sing some blue balls into his mouth to calm him.

What happened in this AU?

The interesting things that happened BEFORE that: 

Benrey and the Science Team (Tommy, Bubby, Dr. Coomer, Darnold, and Forzen) were put into a simulation that would later be HLVRAI.

Gordon and Barney are childhood friends who managed to stay in contact and meet again in Black Mesa.

After Black Mesa put Benrey and his Science Team in the simulation, they all were put into this sort of hibernation until a player arrived and dons the in-game HEV suit as “Gordon Freeman”. This happened 3 times, according to Benry, and the gameplay is different each time. Before being put in the simulation though, Benrey took and hid a master code of the simulation which lets him do whatever he wants with the map and story of the game. The first “player” (2010) was a guide who helped take the Science Team around the Black Mesa map, and Benry named them “Puter”. Sadly, Puter’s data and memory were erased to make way for the second player (2020) “Feetman” and started what we all know as “HLVRAI” and Benry changed the story and gameplay of the simulation because he thought it was boring.

The third player (2030), after the simulation erased the data and memory of the game model, is both Gordon and Barney who exchange because Gordon takes mandatory naps to recover from his PTSD and morphine rehab, and Benrey feels hope on leaving the simulation just to see them face-to-face.

After the events of ResCas and Gordon waking up from Stasis to Half-Life 2, Gordon gets together with Barney and maintains a platonic/sibling bond with Alyx, who then gets taken to Stasis by G-Man. Gordon HAS witnessed Eli dying, only to see him fine yet grieving Alyx’s disappearance (2020). That made Gordon DESPISE G-Man.

How GeeBees met?

Gordon and Barney reside together in the White Forest Resistance base. The apocalypse is nearing its end (2030), but Gordon and Barney are more happy about being a couple after so long. One day though, Gordon opened the door to G-Man who gave him an errand of the day: Play a game and retrieve something important, and as he appeared, he left suddenly. He also left a Playstation 2 console in a box by Gordon’s doorstep, and Barney helped Gordon set it up while unsure of what G-Man was planning. Along with the console was a VR set and a game CD with a blank cover and “Half-Life VR” written on the disc with black marker.

Gordon put on the game and the headset, he expected anything but a shitty yet semi-accurate environment that was the entrance of Black Mesa. Barney, who was behind Gordon and watching the TV screen, couldn’t believe it either. Gordon was starting to panic as he remembered all that happened during the day ResCas happened and Barney and Gordon were trying to figure out who was sick enough to make a game on the thing that started the apocalypse and what would they say to Eli and Issac. All their worries were halted after they heard a deadpan voice “hey. can i see your passport?”. And that’s when their lives changed for the better.

Long story short: Gordon and Barney take turns playing the game with Benry and the Science Team guiding them, Gordon’s worries about the game lessened when important events that had happened were changed into something more lighthearted. After playing the game (which Gordon and Barney didn’t want to do), Benrey managed to get him and the Science Team into Gordon and Barney’s shared phone before Gordon and Barney could figure out how to get them out of the digital space. 

After that, Benrey stays with Gordon and Barney while everyone else wants to live elsewhere around the base. It was tough for the Science Team to come to terms with the fact that they were no longer in a simulation and that the ResCas was an actual event (and also the fact that Benrey is meeting the ACTUAL infamous Gordon Freeman who he first heard from the researchers before he was put into the simulation) but in the end, they want to help the Resistance.

More does happen after, Issac adopts Bubby as his brother (Bubby being cloned from Issac), Tommy helps with retrieving Alyx and another OC of mine out of G-Man’s Stasis, and Benrey helps Barney by shapeshifting as him at Combine as well as getting to sleep between Gordon and Barney to keep G-Man away.

And this is practically fanon in my lore, but Giftverse! Gordon, Barney, and Benry get to meet their alternate AU versions of themselves.

okay so. this is an evil powerade (darnold x benrey) fic i wrote like. three months ago and i’ve finally decided to stop being a COWARD and actually publish it somewhere. uhh enjoy, ig? i hope i got both characters right, but who really knows lmao.

fic under the cut!

well, this was certainly... a predicament.

it was after the science team had left darnold alone, and he went back to his lab in order to grab a few things he had forgotten. there he found... well, who else but the strange security guard who not only ruined his computer, but downloaded the pyro update on tf2 when darnold told them specifically not to. and here that guard was, sitting at the desk, randomly pressing the keys on the keyboard, as if that would start the device back up. however, they seemed distracted enough; darnold figured he could just walk over to his desk, and...

"oh, hey, what's up," the member of security swirled around when darnold took a step towards them. so much for grabbing what he needed and getting out of here undetected.

"i'm just here t' grab a few of my potions before i head home," darnold explained, making his way behind the desk so he could rummage through it mindlessly.

"neat," the guard nodded and turned back around to work on the computer some more, which darnold couldn't help but chuckle at.

"your friend said your name is... benrey, correct?"

"yeah."

"well, benrey-" darnold paused as he placed some cartons and buckets of his potions on the table, "-i'm not sure what you think you're going to do with that computer. you've completely destroyed it, you see."

"nah, it just needs some gamer fuel and it'll be- i'm gonna fix it riiiiiight up. don't worry about it. i got it aaaaallllll figured out."

"well, good luck with that."

darnold shook his head and smiled. despite how rude benrey was before, they made him... oddly happy, and that brought a familiar glow to his cheeks.

suddenly, darnold had a realization...

"oh! you're forzons ex, aren't you, benrey?"

benrey appeared slightly caught off guard by darnolds question, but remained in his seat.

"uh... yeah, how'd- how do you, uh- know that?"

"well," darnold removed the glove on his left hand, showing benrey the irate gamer themed wedding ring he was wearing, "he and i are married, and before we were even engaged he would talk about you a lot. not ever by name, but... i can certainly understand what he would find appealing in you."

oh, dear... did he really say that last part out loud?

"mhm, yeah," benrey scoffed before letting out a long exhale. they didn't seem phased by darnolds last comment, but he did keep his eyes locked on the ring with an evil intent.

from what darnold could remember, benrey was always a fan of the angry video game nerd, and apparently their claim that the irate gamer was a rip-off of avgn was what caused him and forzon to break up. a rather humorous end to a relationship, darnold felt, and when forzon was relaying this information to him, he had to force himself not to laugh; though a snort or two escaped him at times. he was happy that forzon didn't break up with him over something so seemingly miniscule, however. in fact, forzon was the one who proposed to him, which darnold was surprised by given forzons... nature.

"yoo, your computer's fixed, friend."

darnold was snapped out of his thoughts when benrey said that, and he walked over to the back of the lab with curiosity. benrey turned the screen to him, showing that tf2 was booting up, and darnold took notice to the fact that the pyro update was still downloaded onto it. oh, well, he'd deal with that later; right now he has other matters to address.

"woah, golly- how did you manage to do that? that- that computer was well beyond repair!"

"gave it some gamer fuel, like i told you to do before," benrey smacked his lips in a teasing, yet somehow pleasant manner, "shoulda listened to benrey. maybe then wouldn't have problems."

darnold chuckled and shook his head for what felt like the hundredth time today. benrey seemed to have that kind of affect on people.

he leaned over benrey, placing his hands on the table so he could get a better look at the screen. with this placement, darnolds head was now resting on benreys shoulder, and their hands appeared dangerously close. benrey took very quick notice of this, as to be expected.

"bro, you're so close... we aboutta kiss right now?"

they gave a toothy grin and glanced at darnold out of the corner of their eye, waiting to see his reaction, though it wasn't the one he was used to, which were gordons. instead of an angry outburst, and/or a fit of laughter, darnold barely seemed phased by it at all. all benrey really did was make him blush a little, though it was difficult to tell that was the case. considering darnold was married to forzon, benrey really should've expected this, but they didn't; so they let out a loud, disappointed sigh.

"maaan... not even a little smooch or nothin'? what're you, home of phobic, BUDDY?" they snorted, and in response, darnold placed one of his hands atop of benreys and laced their fingers together.

"if you'd like a smooch, delete the pyro update, and do it right now."

"no!" benrey immediately protested, "i wanna... i play with the pyro poof! you really shouldn't be so- shouldn't be so mean to it. it's not bad."

"well, gee, i guess you won't get any kisses then!"

"ohh nooooooo!"

"delete it, then. please."

with a grumble, benrey reluctantly opened the steam file for tf2 and moved all the corresponding files into the recycle bin. when they were done with that, they pushed away from the desk, spinning around quickly so that they tripped darnold over and caused the mixologist to land in his lap.

"can i get that smooch now, please?" their smile was wide, with their eyes half-lidded, as if this wasn't even that big of a deal (which, to him, it wasn't).

"hmm... fine, i suppose you deserve what was promised to you. i can't have anyone going unsmooched now, can i?"

darnold adjusted himself so that he could be comfortable, and after a minute or two of both him and benrey giggling to themselves, he placed a hand on benreys cheek and made their lips meet.

the kiss lasted a lot longer than darnold expected; he thought it was going to be just a quick peck and it was over with, but that very obviously wasn't what benrey had in mind. in fact, it very quickly turned into a make out session; whenever their lips would part, benrey would quickly connect them again, which darnold wasn't against... it was just something he wasn't entirely used to. forzons kisses were always a mix of passionate and fast, since he was basically always on the move. tommys kisses were gentle, sweet, and often didn't last very long either. so benreys kisses were something darnold would have to get used to.

eventually, though, darnold had to pull away so he could take a breather, and benrey was fine with that. they wanted to get a good look at darnold anyway. their smile was just as wide as before, but had a bit more of a dorky vibe to it now, which darnold found absolutely adorable. he teasingly used his index finger to poke the tip of benreys nose, and they both laughed in response.

"man, that was really, fuckin, uh... epic, awesome sauce moment. wanna, uh- wanna go again? please? can we- can we please go again, bro?" benrey asked once the giggle fit was over with.

"hmm... maybe later, i really ought to get home," darnold responded, tapping his chin in thought, "forzon is probably getting worried. though, knowing him, he-"

"nah, don't, uh- don't worry about forzon, he'll be fiiiiinnnee," benrey interjected, nuzzling his nose in the crook of darnolds neck, "it's comfyyyy heeerrreee... stay with meee..."

after a moment of thinking, darnold wrapped his arms around benreys neck and nodded.

"all right, fine, but if forzon gets angry i'm going to blame it all on you, you little rascal."

"hahaha, ah... that's fair."

Poor Benrey. tl;dr at the end

ITS PRETTY GRAPHIC VIOLENCE WISE, HAS ALMOST DEAD ALIENS. VIEWER DISCRECION AND ALL THAT. 

So eventually Gordon caught Benrey, but he was just happy that they were unable to find Darnold as they most definitely would of killed him. Gordon was very close to snapping at him, but decided to give him one more chance. He was on thin fucking ice though. He had Tommy watch him to make sure he didn’t get away again. He tried to talk to Tommy, see if he could convince him to help him get out of this. But Tommy was rather cold to him.

He knew that something was wrong with him, and kept reminding himself that this isn’t the Tommy he knows, but still. To say it hurt like hell when he snapped at him to “shut up” when he was practically begging him for help fucking hurt.. AGAIN!. At that point, he knew that he had to do something even if it meant doing something he would never normally do.

When they were far enough away from the rest of the group, he punched Tommy hard and booked it before he could recover... Again xD it was his only self defense okay? (Editor note: sorry for restating some of the Tommy info, it was like ten when I wrote this XD. Think of it as a reminder that Tommy does, in fact, exist and doesn’t care) It was stupid, incredibly risky considering how powerful Tommy is and how mad he already was, but he didn’t have a choice. You think after all of this, Gordon would leave Benrey the fuck alone? NOPE! It made Gordon rather pissed off, but he went through way too much bullshit for him to give up. He was OBSESSED with him, only made the situation so much worse for benny boy. 

You know what time it is? The final confrontation. Benrey is fed up, still powerless, and more scared then he’d like to admit. Gordon is so much bigger then him, so when it comes down to physical strength and weapons no powers involved Benrey will lose. Gordon could tell where he was from the large amount of sweet voice that he basically couldn’t control, so eventually he found him. At this point, Gordon was acting as if he was chasticing a small child, somehow while also being clearly obsessed with him. 

When Benrey is stressed, he tends to lash out. And, really, who could blame him at this point? He clawed Gordon in the face, immediately regretting it. As much shit as Gordon has been putting him through, he doesn’t want to hurt him. He knows he could, but he’s already hurt Gordon enough and his own affection towards the man prevented him from feeling comfortable with it. Gordon was... startled, to say the least. And for once Benrey tried to explain himself. As fun as this Gordon could be, as different and exciting he is he still isn’t his Gordon. He wasn’t the Gordon he grew to get a massive crush on, the one who is stressed and anxious but level headed and smart and laughs at his jokes and is still insanely kind hearted even to those who don’t deserve it. Like him. He would never be his Gordon, and nothing he could do would make Benrey like him.

Very powerful, but it obviously made things so much fucking worse. Because THAT triggered his mindset of “Fine, if I will never have you, no one will.” And since Benrey’s powers are disabled, he got... tackled and pinned to the floor. It happened so fast, he barely had time to react. There was no chance of Benrey throwing Gordon off in the state he is in, and he couldn’t even move because Gordon plus the HEV suit was so fucking heavy. For once Benrey actually got scared of Gordon, he’d never seen him like THAT before. He’d been angry and he’d threatened him before, but never like this. He never meant it before.

So obviously he started panicking and struggling under him. Now, Gordon could of just shot him because he did have a gun attached to his arm... but he chose the completely sane option of using someone as a stress reliever. Aka bashing his fucking skull in with a crowbar. The helmet absorbed most of the damage at first and he managed to dodge some of the more dangerous blows.

And THEN Gordon knocked off his fucking helmet, releasing the flood of black hair he had kept hidden. And you know what he did? He laughed, because of how feminine his hair is and mocked it. With all the shit he had went through, that psychologically was the worse. It is a deep rooted insecurity, one of the only boundaries he has. Even Tommy rarely sees his hair if he can help it. So to have the helmet removed, by force, and then mocked by someone he cares deeply about was absolutely humiliating. Without the helmet, he quickly got fatally injured by the crowbar. He of course was trying to talk down Gordon, but he started to divolve into yelling for him to please stop. Eventually the fight was abruptly cut short when Gordon drove the crowbar into his forehead.

And then the potion Darnold spread throughout the ventilation reached the room they were in, and Gordo turned back to normal... looked down.

And SCREAMED.

tl;dr Tommy not nice, Benrey finally speaks up, Gordo does not appreciate it, Gordon comes back at the worse time.

Welcome to the Black Mesa Passport Department & Party Center, a project with the goal of recreating the iconic passports from HLVRAI as printable props.

I’ve set out to create mostly screen-accurate versions of the passports shown in the series, and I owe a HUGE thank you to @plushmon for hooking me up with MasterGir’s original gmod passport textures (x)! I heavily based the template on those textures as well as screenshots from the series itself, and I hope you folks can get some use out of them! You’re free to edit them however you like, and I have a blank passport template in case you want to customize one for yourself or an OC!

I have two versions of every passport: one with the interior pages and cover split up as separate images, and another with the cover and interior pages fused together to allow you to French-fold them into a passport. Darnold. He has anxiety! He's very uncomfortable with sudden change, too, so anything extreme happening out of his schedule makes him freak out

Benry. he gives his *friends* kisses, man. he would give Darnold so much physical affection it would be annoying (sometimes)

⛈ Do they enjoy dancing?

They do! Darnold dances like an old man, just kinda swaying side to side, while benry dances like a teenage girl. they have really different tastes in music, but can come together with dancing to r&b!

Darnold has the most nightmares. Mostly about being terrified and trapped. Benry helps him by just kinda playing games with him, cos neither of them are too good at talking about feelings

They do initially, bc Benry just. never slept. he doesn't need to. But then Benry started to appreciate the fine art of being able to cuddle and doze with a comfy body in his arms

I can't really think of anything but benry probably calls him like. D. Arnold. as a bit. otherwise i can't see them using any nicknames

play video games....if that doesn't work, then they just talk about nothing. if it gets really bad, benry uses sweet voice for him, but thats not super often. darnold helps benry by just being his friend (homosexual)

Darnold does his science shit, goes back to school to become a professor, plays video games etc etc. benry plays video games, listens to music, probably makes his own music, talks to his friends, etc

probably! no big wedding or anything, but they would get a little dressed up

haha benry. if benry needs attention (which is often) he'll bother darnold like an immature child.

i think both are very matter of fact while saying the craziest shit. the difference is you can kinda tell when benry is joking (unless youre gordon) , while you cannot tell at All when Darnold is. Plus i kinda see them both as quiet people, maybe ambiverts at most, so they just kinda chill most of the time. theyre absurd in different ways, and its great :)

neither? i think benry would shoot someone just for picking their nose

oooohghuhghhhhh the cheesiest costumes ever. the first year theyre dating they go as a medic and solider duo, but years after theyd do like. cishet costumes bc they both think its funny (harley quinn and joker, Frankenstein and the bride of frakenstein, jack and sally, etc) they still really like dressing up as video game characters tho, so they do that too to mix it up

darnold likes green! benry........does not have a favorite

Neither! Darnold is a man of science, a man of work. he was very happy being single, benry just kinda added a new dynamic in his life that he very much enjoyed. benry is just....not a romantic. if he has a crush on someone he's like "well.....lol" and usually pursues like a 5 year old

benry, duh. hes kind of a dick. darnold cannot take him to funerals

the sick gamer strats. idk this is a weird question cos when u love someone, i feel like u love....all of them? or at least a lot of them. theres not really a favorite trait. they just go "yo this is nice as fuck" when u spend time with each other and like. cuddle.

they r there for each other. if its truly helpless, i think that's enough.

i dont think theyre perfect for one another! benrys an annoying jackass, Darnold is a nice man. but i think if benry got a huge loser crush, hed feel the need not to pull on darnolds metaphorical pigtails. its respect

kinda nervous! but only bc i have trouble thinking about their dynamic. my favorite genre of romance is just.....dudes that hang out and kiss. i also don't want it to sound like knock off frenrey. Darnold is the only one who seemed a little annoyed by benry too, in a very different, polite way, but i find it difficult to differentiate the dynamic. Darnold is a little bit of a straight man to the straight man. not to say he isnt absurd. but id find it reallt funny for benry to do some crazy shit and Darnold to go "uhm. ok."

Is your OTP Oc x Canon?

hmm difficult question. hlvrai characterization in general is making an oc and hoping it adheres to Canon. just by shipping darnold and benry im basically making some sort of oc x oc for myself, since their characterizations don't imply theyd ever end up in a romantic relationship

Sometimes Benrey thought that he was lucky.

Way too lucky, for someone like him.

Way too lucky to have someone like him.

Darnold was laying in his lap, cheek pressed against his chest and arms hugging around his sides, quietly humming as Benrey rubbed his back. It was some nonsense song, medium and high tones, a subconscious response that he probably wasn’t even aware of, or aware of how it made his heart swell.

He stopped humming suddenly and shifted his head to look up at the other man. “Mm… Benry?”

“yeah?”

“Can you sing for me?” 

That was one of the things about him that Benrey definitely didn’t deserve-- he liked his Sweet Voice. He liked all the things about him that were strange. He didn’t mind inhumanity. It was terribly sweet, this human love.

“yeah.”

He opened his mouth and started singing. It was some nonsense song, medium and high tones, the rhythm set to his heartbeat. Colored orbs spilled out of his mouth and into the air. They were pink, peach, sorbet and strawberry lemonade, filling the room with a cozy glow.

It was terribly sweet. It left the cloying taste of sugar and fruit in his mouth, but he kept singing.

Candied cherries and raspberries. Fruit punch and strawberries with sugar.

Medium and high tones.

Darnold was humming along, eyes closed. He didn’t need to see. He knew. He heard it.

Sugar and fruit. Strawberry lemonade.
