“So, my place or yours?”
“What?”
“My place or yours?”
Ethan looked to the side in thought, “Oh! My house is fine, unless you want to do it at yours?”
“I’m fine with that! Now, should we work on the essay before the poster board?”
“Sure, that sounds good to me.”
“Okay, then we’ll do that today and work on the poster board throughout the week. After school today works for you, right?”
“Yep. Um, around what time are you planning on coming? Any time is fine, but you know, just to be prepared."
"I think about five, if that’s fine?"
Ethan nodded, "That works."
-
As soon as he left for lunch, he walked over to the cafeteria to find Benny. He found him and Rory sitting at their usual lunch table.
"Hey." Ethan smiled as he joined Benny and Rory.
Benny looked up from his lunch, "Finally. What took you so long?"
Ethan rolled his eyes, taking a seat in between his friends. "I’m only a minute late."
“Only?”
“So did you get assigned partners in Chemistry?” Rory finally spoke up, accidentally interrupting Benny at the perfect time.
“I did, actually. Y/N. You know them?”
Benny’s eyes widened. “Of course I know Y/N. They’re so hot.”
Rory paused, “Wait, Y/N from our English?”
Benny nodded, and once Rory realized who it was, his eyes widened too. “Man, you’re lucky.”
Ethan scoffed at his friends' reactions. "Well we've been getting along pretty well. They’re really, really smart. And they’re coming over today, actually."
Benny wiggled his eyebrows immediately. "Coming over, huh? Is this a study session or...?"
Ethan nudged Benny. "Come on, man. Obviously a study session. This is like our fourth time talking ever.”
“Ethan. You know you guys have talked way more than that. And you know you have a crush on them.”
“Whatever.”
Rory chimed in, "Well, it sounds like a good time. Just remember to be yourself and use protection."
Ethan choked on air, “Rory, stop saying things like that out of nowhere.”
“Sorry.”
-
As the lunch period ended, the boys went their separate ways to attend their afternoon classes. But Ethan's mind couldn't help but wander to the upcoming study session with you. He was growing more excited with each minute, anticipating the chance to spend time with you outside of school.
He knew the whole point was to do a project, but Benny was right. He did have a crush on you, which only made this study session more nerve-wracking.
The final bell rang, signaling the end of the day, and Ethan hurriedly packed up his stuff. Thoughts of the study session with you consumed his mind, mixing with the butterflies in his stomach. He couldn't shake off the nervousness.
Benny went over to Ethan’s for a bit before going home and helped him clean up his room a bit.
“Stop looking so nervous, you’re gonna freak them out.”
“I am nervous.”
“No shit.”
-
Benny left Ethan’s house at around 4:15, but now it’s 5PM. Ethan smoothed out his hair, clothes, and bed, but it was all off still. It didn’t matter how much he straightened everything out, his heart was racing.
He took a deep breath. Knowing that you could be here at any second made him anxious.
Just as the thought crossed his mind, the doorbell rang. Ethan ran down the stairs, but just as he was about to get to the door, his mother opened it and greeted you, revealing an inviting smile.
Ethan’s mother, who hadn’t been informed about the study session, still invited you in with open arms. She remembered you faintly from Ethan’s thirteenth birthday party.
“What’s your name again, sweetheart?”
“Oh, Y/N, nice to see you again!”
Ethan interrupted quietly, “We’re gonna be working on a chemistry assignment.”
“Oh, okay! I saw the backpack but didn’t even think about it. Good luck, guys!”
You both thanked his mother, but when you reached the top of the stairs, she called out again.
“Ethan! Leave the door a bit open!”
Ethan shut his eyes in embarrassment but you smiled to yourself as you walked behind him.
"Sorry about the door thing."
"Don't worry about it," you replied with a gentle laugh. "It's sweet that she cares. Now, chemistry."
You entered Ethan's room behind him, and sat on the bed as soon as you saw it. His room seemed to reflect his personality almost perfectly, from the neatly arranged books on the shelves to the posters on the walls.
As you unpacked your bag on the bed and ranted about the work, Ethan couldn't help but steal glances at you. He admired how you used your hands as support to what you’re saying. He found himself becoming even more drawn to you by the second.
“Did you hear me?”
“Oh, yeah. Yes.”
“So you think we should burn all of our papers and poster boards from chemistry.”
“Oh, no. Definitely no. Sorry, I’m a little tired.”
You smiled at his gentle expression, “It’s okay. Me too.”
You both laughed, officially breaking the tension in the room.
The fatigue seemed to fade away as you dived into the chemistry assignment. The room seemed to freshen up with new ideas and a few “Google it!”s here and there.
Ethan found different ways to word things while you wrote them down, making it an effective system for the both of you.
-
Time flew by, and before you knew it, the room was soaked in the soft glow of the evening sunset. The chemistry assignment was complete, and a fresh sense of accomplishment filled the air. It was barely six thirty-ish.
As you sat side by side on his bed, a comfortable silence settled between you.
You flopped onto your back and closed your eyes, feeling his eyes on you still.
“I know you’re looking at me.”
You let out a giggle as his words quickly stumbled, keeping your eyes closed as you enjoyed the moment.
“I’m just teasing, Ethan. You can look at me however much you want to.” You opened your eyes now, looking straight into his.
Ethan's cheeks turned a dusty shade of pink, and he tried averting his gaze, but couldn’t despite feeling some embarrassment. He had always struggled with social cues and expressing his emotions well, but with you, he felt comfort that allowed him to be himself.
A shy smile played on his lips. "You’re really pretty."
“You’re prettier.”
“I didn’t mean to be so forward but... I really like spending time with you." Ethan shut his eyes, realizing he did it again.
You smiled softly, "I like spending time with you too, Ethan. You're different from anyone I've met before, in a good way."
His eyes met yours again, and you could see a hint of surprise in them. “I’m just... awkward."
"Well you are, but it's cute." you replied with a playful grin.
Ethan's cheeks flushed a deeper shade of pink, and he shyly scratched the back of his neck. "Thanks, Y/N."
Feeling a surge of courage, you sat up and scooted closer to him on the bed, your shoulders touching now. "You know, Ethan, studying doesn't have to be the only thing we do today."
Ethan’s eyes practically bulged out of his head, "What do you mean?"
You laughed at his teenage boy mind and playfully nudged his shoulder. "I mean, we've been working so hard on this assignment. How about we do something fun? Ooo... or go somewhere?”
"Like where?"
You thought for a moment before an idea popped into your head. "Well, there's a new ice cream parlor that just opened like five minutes away from here. I heard they have some weird ass flavors. Are you down?"
You already stood up and grabbed your stuff, including your keys, waiting for his answer.
"Sure!"
You and Ethan quickly made your way out of his room and down the stairs. Ethan called out a quick, “I’ll be back, mom!”
Ethan's mother glanced at the two of you, “Be back before it’s too dark!” A knowing smile played on her lips, and she waved you both off as you headed out.
The drive to the ice cream parlor was filled with lighthearted conversation and laughter. You exchanged stories about your lives outside of school and laughed with each other easily. It felt natural being with Ethan, and he seemed to relax more now.
Arriving at the ice cream parlor, you both stared at the colorful array of flavors and toppings.
After heavy consideration from the both of you, you made your choices and found a cozy corner to sit at to enjoy your ice creams. He paid for everything despite your arguments.
As you savored the ice cream, the conversation flowed effortlessly once again between you. You talked about some embarrassing moments from your pasts but they didn’t even feel embarrassing any more. With each passing minute, the connection between you deepened, and the initial nervousness and shyness melted away.
As you finished, you grabbed your keys again and looked at him. “I guess I should drive you home, huh?”
Ethan nodded, a hint of disappointment crossing his face.
“Yeah..”
He understood that it was getting late, and you both had responsibilities to tend to, but he really didn’t wanna leave.
As you walked towards the car, Ethan couldn't help but feel a sense of longing. He wanted to spend more time with you, get to know you better, and maybe even explore the possibility of something more than just a study session.
As you drove through the quiet streets, Ethan glanced at you from the corner of his eye, contemplating whether he should make some sort of move or not.
“I’m gonna crash if you keep looking at me. What’s up?”
Ethan's heart skipped a beat at your words, and he quickly turned his attention back to the road, feeling a flush of embarrassment creeping up his neck. He gathered his thoughts, realizing that he had been staring at you without realizing it.
"Sorry, I was just... thinking," he stammered, his voice having a hint of nervousness.
You chuckled softly, glancing at him with a smile. "What were you thinking about?"
Ethan took a deep breath, "Well, I was thinking about how much fun I had today, not just studying but also the ice cream. And... I was wondering if maybe we could do this again sometime?"
A smile spread across your face as you finally pulled up to his house.
"I'd love that, Ethan. I had a great time too."
You both sat in the car for a moment, the engine idling, as the weight of the unspoken tension filled the air. Ethan mustered up some courage, leaning closer to you.
"Can I ask you something?"
You nodded, your heart racing in anticipation. “Yeah.”
He hesitated for a moment, his eyes searching yours for reassurance. "Would it be okay if I kissed you?"
Your heart skipped a beat, and a surge of excitement rushed through your veins. The anticipation hung in the air as you met Ethan's gaze, your eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and desire. The moment felt surreal, and you could feel the tension building between you.
“Y-”
Before you could respond, the sound of a guy yelling disrupted the intimate atmosphere. You both turned your heads towards the noise only to see Benny standing outside of your car, waving his arms frantically.
You hesitantly rolled the passengers side window down.
"Hey, lovebirds! Don't forget about me!" Benny shouted with a shit-eating grin on his face.
Ethan groaned in exasperation, slumping back in his seat. "Benny, seriously? Can't you give us a moment?"
Benny shrugged, still grinning ear to ear. "Sorry, but I couldn't resist. You two were about to have your magical movie moment, weren’t you?”
You couldn't help but laugh at the unexpected interruption. "Well, Benny, you certainly know how to kill the mood."
Benny feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart. "Hey, I'm just here to provide some comic relief. Besides, I thought you two might appreciate an audience for your grand romantic gesture."
Ethan shook his head, trying to hide his amusement. "There was no grand romantic gesture, Benny. We were just having a conversation." You nodded in agreement.
Benny raised an eyebrow suggestively. "Oh, really? Just a conversation, huh? Well, I guess I'll leave you guys to continue your 'conversation' then." Benny began making his way to Ethan’s house, but not without making kissy faces at you two first.
“I’ma be in your room, Ethan.”
“I don’t care!”
“Love you too!” With a final wink, Benny walked away, leaving you and Ethan alone in the car again.
You couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation. "Well, that was unexpected."
Ethan chuckled, his cheeks still tinged with a hint of pink. "Yeah, Benny has a knack for timing, doesn't he?"
You leaned closer to Ethan, a playful glint in your eyes. "So, my place or yours?"
Ethan blinked, momentarily thrown off by the sudden question. "What?"
You smiled softly at his confusion. "I'm just teasing. How about we save that kiss for another time?"
Ethan let out a relieved breath, a smile forming on his lips. "Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. Let’s hang out again soon?”
You nodded in agreement, "I'd like that."
Ethan looked at you one more time, “I guess I’ve gotta go.”
“I guess you do.”
“Goodnight, see you at school.”
“Goodnight!”
As Ethan got out of the car, you watched him walk towards his house, feeling a sense of contentment.
You drove off to your house, while Ethan was being interrogated by a smirking Benny.
"So, how did it go? Did you make your move?"
Ethan shook his head, trying to hide his disappointment. "No, Benny. We were interrupted by you, remember?"
"My bad. But on the first not even date?"
"More than you’ve ever done. But it's fine, we're hanging out again soon."
Benny's eyes lit up with excitement as he ignored the first statement, "That's great news! See, I didn’t ruin everything this time!”
“Now, tell me. What’d it feel like when you almost kissed them?”

More Poly!Bethan Headcanons
Fandom: My babysitter's a vampire Genre: Fluff Warnings: none A/N: I had some ideas left over and I figured it'd be a shame for them to go to waste so I hope this makes at least one of you happy today!! ~~
Benny loves being the big spoon!!! Holding you and Ethan is as close to heaven as he thinks he can find on earth.
Ethan is a much bigger fan of more subtle acts of affection.. He’s particularly fond of interlocking pinkies! He finds it very sweet and comforting and he takes basically every chance he gets to hook his pinkie finger around your’s or Benny’s. This is a particularly common occurrence during classes. He’ll totally deny it if you try to bring it up tho
You love challenging your boys at video games. They usually win (probably because they have a lot more hours or practice than you. Like, an unhealthy amount) but it’s always fun for all of you!! Gaming nights > movie nights for sure!
Ethan is more inclined to go easy on you and let you win most of the time. He finds it endearing how happy and excited you get to be beating him (you know what he’s doing, but don’t complain). Benny on the other hand is competitive! Good luck with him because not only will he give 110% of his efforts in every game but he will also rub his win in your face!
You are the mastermind behind all ghostly fights. You’re the strategist of the group for sure and Ethan and Benny love to watch you think and come up with crazy ideas of how to get yourselves out of whatever mess you have to deal with now. They are almost entranced seeing you type away at your keyboard in concentration (they definitely share knowing looks behind your back like ‘Yep, that’s our girl!’)
Grandma counts on you a lot to keep the boys in check, although she never actually blames you if something goes wrong. She knows how sneaky they can be but appreciates that you look out for them most of the time and because of that, you two have a really trusting relationship.
Benny loves taking pictures whenever you guys are together, even if there’s not much going on! Some are candids of you or Ethan, working, cooking, cuddling, the works! And those are really sweet, always showcasing really tender and domestic moments. He’ll never tell you when he takes them, he will just spend them in the groupchat after he goes home.
Other times, the pictures are absolutely chaotic. Blurry and shaky! Taken at weird angles or too close to your faces! His gallery is full! Some of them he prints out, others he saves on his computer for later times. He used to hang most of his pictures on his walls but Grandma eventually got him a photo album and he discovered that despite feeling old fashioned, he enjoyed that much better!
Ethan sometimes has a hard time falling asleep! His mind is running and he has a very bad habit of overthinking. Especially if he’s in the middle of solving something supernatural, his mind is totally wired and it’s hard for him to relax enough to go to bed. He created a habit of calling either you or Benny when that happens. Talking to you about simple stuff, helps his nerves ease and eventually, he actually manages to fall asleep. Although not before complaining about how he’d ‘much rather have you there with him physically’ but he’s grateful nevertheless

Betty Weir
Chapters 1-2
Can Betty keep up with her new life of cheerleading, cross-dressing, pizza delivering and vampire hunting?
Word Count: 1.9k
[Read on Ao3?] [Next]
Tumblr media
Chapter 1.
Benny stops dead in his tracks, staring at the freshly pinned poster, reading “Cheer Tryouts, Tuesday after school!”
Vivid memories flood back to when he dressed up with Ethan as Betty and Veronica. Ethan never wanted to pick up a pom pom again after facing down Stephanie but Benny? Benny could only linger in the feelings of having so much fun as a cheerleader.
He quickly rips the poster off the bulletin board, a couple people eye him.
“Ha, cheerleaders are so stupid right. Ahah.” he crumples it up trying to act like he doesn’t care and catches up with Ethan.
–Later that night–
Benny is sitting alone at Ethan’s house. Ethan’s fast asleep in bed behind him. He’s copying over E’s homework. He gets distracted midway though the Media Studies questions, as he often does, and thinks about that poster…
He digs through his messy backpack and pulls it out. Stating the same simple message as It did last time.
Cheer tryouts, tomorrow. After school.
He gets up and starts going though Ethan’s closet.
It’s endless, messy and kinda gross.
Ethan would always shove his unorganized shit into this closet, so looking for anything was pretty hopeless but he was determined. After a solid hour of digging he finally stumbled upon the three holy items.
A red and black sleeveless top with the White Chappel logo stitched on it, a short simple red skirt and a long golden locked wig, slightly crumpled with two red bows on either side.
Benny squeezes the items tight, inhaling the stale closet air with glee.
He folds and softly places the items in his satchel underneath his books, he sits back in his chair and spins around. He stops and excitedly scribbles down the rest of the notes.
Tumblr media
Chapter 2.
–After School– Benny stands in the bathroom, legs trembling. Oh, this is so stupid, what am I doing!? I should be home playing video games with Ethan, or something. Anything other then this. Oh, fucking christ.
Despite his anxious thoughts, he continues changing into his old cheerleading uniform. Once he's done, he takes a deep breath. His hand hovers over the stall door as he hesitates to open it. With an exhale, he pushes though and looks in the mirror. After making sure none of his short brown hair is sticking out, he rushes out of the men's bathroom.
He prays to god that no one saw him.
He quickly arrives at the gym hall. The bleachers are filled with preppy girls chatting and sitting around, waiting for their turn. He places himself down at the first row, holding onto grandma’s magical pompoms for good luck.
“Hi!” A cheery blonde walks up to him, “Please make sure you sign in before waiting!”
She hands him a clipboard filled with flowery, delicate names written in fancy cursive. Three spaces remain at the bottom asking to fill in a first and last name.
Benny shakily signs “Betty Weir” in the best cursive she could manage.
“Thank you buh-” she looks closer at the chicken scratches, “Betty!”
She walks away with a hop in her step, moving on to greet the new students walking in.
And Betty’s more than relieved.
Getting comfortable and with not much else to do, he watches one after another of girls doing backflips, somersaults and jumping jacks.
Oh god, he really missed doing—or at least, attempting—those tricks. He ruffles his pom poms and cheers like the other girls in the bleachers after each girl finishes their routine, trying to fit in.
Sadly his efforts weren't enough. He hears snickering behind him. He tries not to eavesdrop, but the fragments he can pick up made his stomach turn.
"Who is that?" A voice whispers.
"I don't know, but look at her hairy legs, oh my god."
"Total lesbo..." they laugh.
Betty freezes. How dare they? Why did I do this? I'm so fucking stupid, I didn't even shave my legs. I wanna go home. What am I doing here. I should just leave.
She feels tears welling up in her eyes. But before her train of thought can go any further off track, she hears a loud hiss behind her.
"What's your fucking problem?" A familiar voice yells, "She hasn't done anything! Leave her alone!"
Betty turns to see Erica, of all people, stomping down the bleachers to her.
"Hey, Is this seat taken?" she asks.
"Uhm..." Betty tries to speak in the highest octave she can, "No, go ahead!"
"Don't listen to those cunts," she sneers, "they're just jealous of us natural blondes."
"Ahah, right..."
"You seem familiar..." Erica looks at Betty, "You cheered for awhile last year, right?"
"Oh, yeah. Ahah." Betty nervously laughs, shying away from Erica's stares.
"OMG what happened? Why did you leave?"
"Well, you know, a head cheerleader being an evil witch is kinda off putting."
Erica clicks her tongue, "Damn, can't blame you for that. But don't worry, she's dealt with now."
"Yeah," Betty sighs, remembering the reason she has to pack her own lunches now, "Wonder what happened to her."
An ear piercing whistle interrupts their conversation.
"Erica Jones!" a teacher shouts.
"Oh, that's me," She stands up and tightens her pony tail, "I'll be right back."
"Good luck." Betty smiles.
Erica does amazingly, flipping and flying though the air. She lands all her stunts perfectly. She does have vampirism on her side, but even then, she has to be practicing religiously to do a triple backflip one handed. She's definitely getting in.
When she finishes, Betty is too timid to cheer. She quietly ruffles her pompoms as Erica sits back down next to her.
"Awe, no cheering?" She teases, "Was I that bad?"
"OMG, no! No, you were flipping amazing!" she gushes, pun completely intended.
"Awe, thank you," she blushes, "Have you gone yet?"
"Ah, no. W last name, takes forever."
"Ahh, best for last I guess." she elbows Betty, "So, what IS your name?"
"Oh, aha. Betty."
"Betty, huh?" Erica smirks, "Guessing your parents liked Archie?"
"Who's Archie?"
"Like, the comics."
"Oh, haha," Betty twirls her hair between her fingers, "I don't read comics or anything nerdy like that."
"Don't worry, I don't either."
Their lies brings the conversation to an uncomfortable halt. They shuffle in their seats, and look at their phones in silence. After a few names and whistle blows, Betty finally hears her name called.
"Betty Ware?" the teacher shouts.
"Oh, haha, that's me!" Betty fumbles to her feet, grabbing her lucky pompoms, and runs to the teachers side. She thought of correcting her name pronunciation, but, it's probably for the best if she keeps quiet.
"Alright, missy! Ready position!"
Betty puts her hands to her hips.
"Hand clap!"
She claps her hands together in a firm clasp.
"T motion!"
She sticks her arms out in a T, trying not to feel like a broken 3D model.
"Broken T!"
She puts her fists into her chest, keeping her arms out.
"Touchdown!"
She raises her hands way above her head.
"V motion!"
She spreads her arms apart, ruffling her pompoms.
"10 Jumping Jacks!"
She drops her pompoms down and quickly does 10 jumping jacks.
The teacher looks down at her clipboard.
"Freshman?" she asks.
"Uh, Junior this year." Betty squeaks.
"Thank you," she scribbles something down on her paper, "You can have a seat."
Betty gives her a quick curtsy and picks up her pompoms, running back to a cheering Erica.
"Ahah, stop!" Betty blushes, as she sits down next to her.
"Why? You were great!" Erica beams.
"Really?"
"Yeah! Your form was awesome, and you had a great smile!"
Betty tries not to blush, "Glad my midnight practices paid off..."
--Cut to Benny in his room.--
He's quietly murmuring a cheer while dancing around his messy floor.
"Boom! Did a bomb just go off in my head?" She puts a hand to her ear.
"No!" She stands on her bed, punching at the air. "It's the devils when we beat you black and red!"
"Calla' nurse calla' doctor" She shouts, jumping up and down.
He hears knocking on his door.
"Benny," his grandma's muffled voice came though the door, "Can you please keep it down?"
"Yeah, okay." he replies with a voice crack.
--Cuts back--
"OMG! I'll have to practice with you some time then."
"Haha, um, maybe."
A whistle blows.
"Alright girls, I've seen some great performances today." The tall, lengthy teacher announces. "Results will be up by tomorrow next to the gym doors."
The small crowd of wannabe cheer leaders stare at her with anticipation.
"You're dismissed."
The girls quickly rush down the bleachers and out the gym doors, but Erica stays comfortably next to Betty, obviously having something on her mind.
The rude two brunettes finally make it down from the back row of bleachers they were sitting on.
Erica growls at them and gets up from her seat.
"It was nice talking to you Betty," she says, gathering up her things, "I'll see you at school?"
"No!" Betty clams up, "Oh, no, I don't go to uh. School."
"What?"
"Home school. I'm Home schooled." Betty gives a large cheeky smile.
"Huh." Erica pulls her purse over her shoulder, charms clacking together, "Well, then, could we exchange numbers?"
Betty makes a shocked face.
Erica—A Girl—Willingly giving me her number?
"Sure... why not..."
Erica whips out her phone, covered from lock screen to phone case with Dusk's Jakeward smoldering into the camera. Betty swipes though and starts putting in her phone number.
"Here, gimme your phone!" Erica says, tapping her foot impatiently.
Betty takes out her phone in her bumpy green case and cringes. This isn't too much of a Boy Phone case is it?
Erica doesn't seem to mind, since she quickly punches in her digits.
"I'd love to chat more but..." Erica looks out the gym doors, in the direction the brunettes went, "I gotta go get something to eat... Text me!"
"Ahah, of course," Betty nervously tugs at her blonde hair, "See you later!"
And just like that, she's alone in the gymnasium.
She heads to the bathroom, checking both ways to make sure the coast was clear, and walks in. She gives herself one last good look in the mirror before she closes the stall door behind her.
Her eyes wander to different spots of the stall as she changes. Markings left by her peers read; "I was here" next to 20 tally marks, A few crudely drawn penises and someone's bandcamp link written in sharpie.
She takes out her baggy blue jeans, looks down at her unshaven legs, and sighs.
Guess I'll get to use a razor for real this time. She thinks to herself, scratching her hairless cheek.
A part of her never wants to put these pants on again. Just live out of her perfect uniform, but she has a grandma to return to and dinner to eat. So before she knows it, she's back to being plain old Benny.
As she stuffs her uniform away, his phone vibrates multiple times.
He slings his satchel over his shoulder and heads out of the school. As he clicks together the straps of his blue bike helmet, he checks his phone to read the messages.
From Erica: heyyy betty its erica! had a talk with those girls who were super rude 2 ya dw about them bothering u EVER again ;)
Something tells Benny that she did a lot more with her and her fangs then just talk...

The Mochi Prosperity Challenge!
Round 1, House 2- Turner
Tumblr media
-Told yah I would have better screenshots this time!-
"What the...?"
-Oh, hello Benjamin! How are you and Ethan doing?"
"Again.... What the?"
-TLDR I am Mochi and I am in charge of helping this neighborhood out and thrive! Do not worry whether or not I am real or not, or if you are or not.-
"I was not worried about that...I might be now.."
-Lovely. How is the house treating you?-
"Quite small I must admit. But I guess with it just Ethan and I now it really does not matter the size."
-Yes well, I only have so much to work with. Tell me about yourself!-
"Ah, yes, I am Benjamin Turner, I am a single father to my dear boy Ethan here, and I strive to be the chief of medicine one day."
Tumblr media
-Ah what a cutie Mr. Ethan is!-
"Yes, he takes after me I would say. Honestly though I ... I don't remember if he takes after his mother or not."
-I will say he takes after you don't worry your little head of such trivial matters such as...-
"Such as my missing wife?"
-I wouldn't say she's missing... Rather just ... not here.-
"hmm."
Tumblr media
-The house seems quite cozy for sure huh...I swore I made it bigger.-
"You built this house? How? You're not even real"
-I don't think now is the time to get into what is real or not, and I don't think you'll win this argument.-
"I beg to differ, I am a smart man. Either way, I am on the hunt for a job!"
-Chief of Medicine... Do you think it would be on the classified page of the newspaper?-
"Now come on. Of course not. But maybe a starting position is."
"Drat there seems to be nothing up my alley, I shall take what I get I guess. How does oceanography sound?"
-It sounds wet and stinky.-
"Wonderfully perfect!"
-Okay weirdo, I will assume you are a slob aren't yah?-
"Huh how'd you guess?"
-Guess I am just lucky...-
Tumblr media
"Well better get my dear boy Ethan a nanny for when I am at work."
-I love that you are doing that, because I would hate to have my second household to have a child taken away.-
"Second household?"

"Yes! That's why I thought it would be an A by now!"
-It takes time!-
Tumblr media
-Oh Emmy is still here!-
-.... what? Why are you talking about that with a child sleeping like 2 feet away-
"We aren't being nasty! He'll learn about it sooner or later anyways! He's the son of a soon to be Chief of Medicine!"
-Benny boy, I hate to break it to yah but soon is maybe not the right word since you haven't even landed a job in the medicine field.-
"Stop calling me Benny boy!"
-No its cute-
"Its not."
-Hey Emmy I think its time to leave girlie. Nearly time to go for me and the boys seem dead tired.-
"Oh yes, of course. Thanks for having me Benj.... Benny boy! *giggle*"
*Benjamin glares*
"Have a good time Emmy. Mochi you're not funny."
-I think I am!-
Tumblr media
-My sleepy second household comes to the end of their first round. I think they'll be my favorite. But theres more to see! Hopefully this week or weekend I will get part 3 up!:)-

Starring Role - Benny Weir x Reader
WARNINGS - Mentions of sex, Swearing, Ethan calls Benny out on his shit, kind of angst I guess idk
“You… you’re… you’re just hard to talk to I guess. I guess that’s my problem Benny.” I sputter out with shaky hands after taking at least a minute to find the words. “Well I don’t know why sweetness-” “That! There it is, that’s why! It’s just… you call me all these… these pet names and I-” I’m cut off by a hot and hard kiss to my lips and the closer and harder that Benny grabs me the more I forget about my qualms. And I especially don’t have room in my mind to be upset with him as he drags me up to his room and pushes me on the bed.
The next time I see him is on Monday at school. I started to go up to Benny but before I could get to him I saw him handing some probably magic-ed up flowers to some girl I’d never seen before. He grabs her hand and kisses her knuckles and before I let myself be subjected to more pain I quickly and wordlessly pushed past the two to get to my locker. Ethan comes and leans on the locker next to mine with a pitied expression on his face.
“What is it Morgan?” I ask pointedly, he stands up straighter and shakes his head. He knows I only call any of them by their last names if I’m in too deep in my thoughts. “Just, I’m sorry about him. He told me about what happened with the two of you this weekend and now…” He trails off watching Benny shamelessly flirt with this girl none of us have ever spoken to before.
“You don’t have to pity me E. It’s my own fault for falling for someone who only likes to flirt then walk away.” he smiles down sadly at me before wrapping me in a comforting hug. I let my breath out a little too heavily into Ethan’s chest and accidentally let out a choked sob. He just rubs my back until Benny walks up to us.
Ethan taps my shoulder and I quickly clean myself up. Ethan and Benny have one of their types of normal conversations before Ethan breaks off to head to his first class. Benny knocks on my locker door to grab my attention and I just peek past it and scan over him before closing it. We coincidentally have the same first period so we usually always walk to class together. As the silence between us sets in and gets much thicker I realize how fucked I am.
“So, sweetness, how’d you sleep last night? You seem upset so i guess pretty badly. Your nightmares come back again?” he tries one too many times to ask me what’s up. Why I’m upset. And I want to scream in his face ‘you and I fucked in your bed Saturday and I saw you practically holding back from making out with some girl that none of us even know in the hall earlier!’ but I don’t. I stay silent for fear of either crying or becoming blind with rage. I decide to save that for when we hang out at Ethan’s after school like we do every day.
The day slowly treks by and finally the time comes where Ethan, Sarah, Benny, and I walk to Ethan's house together. Ethan and Sarah hold hands and laugh together with Ethan passing glances back at me while I walk next to Benny in silence. I had been silent basically all day, at least as long as Benny was within earshot.
“And so I told this guy off cause I had seen him flirting with this girl that I’m super into but it turns out he’s her boyfriend! Awkward central am I right?!” My shoulders tense as my brain finally latches onto the words coming out of Benny’s mouth. And thankfully we soon arrive at Ethan’s house. Sarah kisses Ethan’s cheek, waves at Benny, and gives me a hug and a soft good luck whispered in my ear before flying home. Ethan unlocks the door and motions us in.
“So... (y/n), what’s up? You haven’t said a word to me all day.” Benny tilts his head and makes a face that feels like the epitome of ‘what’s wrong with you?’ while laying himself across Ethan’s couch. Ethan coughs and nudges me when I don’t answer for a while. I give him a short glare before begrudgingly giving up on my vow of silence, “I just feel like a joke, that’s all.” I step delicately around how I really feel and Benny almost lets it slide when Ethan speaks up.
“You fucked up Benny. You’ve done something stupid and made her feel like shit. And I may not know the full extent of what happened or how (y/n) feels but she cried into my chest this morning while you were off flirting with some other girl. Like what you did never even happened.” He finishes and places a hand on my shoulder as sobs start to wrack my body.
“What are you talking about? (y/n)? Is that true?” I nod moving into Ethan's side when Benny starts to move closer. “We fucked and I really thought I meant something to you but I guess not.” I finally decide to speak again and end up choking on my own spit trying to.
“It meant something to you?” Benny asks, genuinely confused. I nod softly and he seems to think for a moment on that. “I thought it couldn’t have meant anything to you. Ya know… since you fucked that other guy last year and then left him behind right after.” he admits, “It honestly meant everything to me but I thought you’d just leave me behind if I confessed my feelings.” He adds and I step forward and meet his eyes for a moment before giving him a harsh slap to the face.
“The only reason I had sex with Leon was because I thought I had feelings for him. He was my goddamn boyfriend! When I realized I was in love with you that’s when I dumped him! He told me that it was fine and that at least I broke up with him instead of cheating on him!” I yell, my face reddened in anger. Benny’s face lights up at this.
“Then be with me!” He exclaims, “We both feel the same so what’s the issue?” he asks when my face contorts to one of anger and frustration. I release a large breath and my shoulders fall. “This isn’t a fucking fairy tale Benny, just because we both feel things for each other doesn’t mean I can just drop everything you’ve done. I can’t just stop hurting.”
“Then I’ll make it up to you! You’ll see!”

Hey! So this is a Supernatural My Babysitter’s a Vampire crossover requested by @the-fifth-marauder101 The request wasn’t super specific so I kind of just ran with it. Jack’s a bit younger in this for the sake of the story. And I know that the timeline is off and stuff but like don’t @ me about it please. I know it’s off. Also this is a reader insert because, ya know, that’s literally all I write. Lol, but anyways, I hope you like it, and keep those requests coming!
Another school. Another town. Another day. That’s how it always went. Avoid making friends at all costs. Well, she had Jack at least.
“What are we here for again?” Y/N asked sighing.
“Your dad said something about vampires or werewolves. They don’t know what it is yet. Said something’s off with this one.” Jack replied glancing over at a group of whispering teens.
“What do you think their deal is?” Erica asked eyeing both Y/N and Jack.
“They don’t look like siblings, at the very least not biological ones.” Sarah responded.
“I don’t know, but can I just say, the girl is hot. Like hotter than anyone I’ve ever laid eyes on. Like if I had to choose between her and a young Carrie Fisher, I’d choose her.” Benny said.
“No way. You’re joking right?” Ethan asked.
“No. I never joke about a babe.” Benny said seriously.
“I don’t know. Personally I’d love to sink my teeth into either of them.” Erica smirked.
Y/N looked from the group to Jack in confusion. “Is it just me or do we have a literal fanclub?”
“I wouldn’t call them a fanclub. They’re just…unusually interested.” Jack responded.
“Should we introduce ourselves? Don’t get me wrong. I know we probably won’t stay for very long but…I just…it would be nice to make friends for once, you know?” She asked Jack as she looked at them, or more specifically looked at Benny.
“I mean, how could it hurt right?” They approached the group.
“Dude they’re coming over here.” Benny said while slapping Ethan’s arm.
“Yeah. I know. I can see dude.”
“Hi.” Y/N said shyly.
Jack stepped in at that point. “Hello. My name is Jack and this is my friend Y/N.” He introduced.
“It’s nice to meet you guys. I’m Sarah and this is Ethan, Benny, and Erica.” Sarah smiled.
Benny had a dumbstruck look on his face. “Excuse him. He gets nervous around girls he thinks are pretty.” Ethan said.
Benny looked at him with a glare. “Dude.” He whisper shouted at him. They then had a small slap fight.
“Alright you two are embarrassing yourselves. Hi, as Sarah said, I’m Erica, and I would love to take you under my wing, Y/N was it? Please let me give you a makeover tonight. You have so much potential if we removed the flannel and the old leggings.”
“Sorry. She’s straightforward like that. She doesn’t mean in a rude way or anything she just thinks your pretty and wants to do your makeup.” Sarah said.
“I guess I could come over.” Y/N said nervously. Jack have her a look and lowered his voice.
“Y/N, Dean said to come straight home after school, and that we can’t go out. You can’t. If you leave on my watch, Dean and Cas will, what is it that you say? ‘rip me a new one’” He quoted.
“Who’s Dean?” Ethan asked.
“My dad. He’s just a little bit overprotective, and if you don’t want me to go out without you, then just come with me.” Y/N said.
“So, you two like live together?” Sarah asked.
“Yeah. Our dads work together. It’s a whole thing.” Y/N said.
“Anyways, I’ll talk to him if he’s home and if not I’ll text him and let him know it shouldn’t be a big deal.” She said.
“Great. Sarah you’re coming too right?” Erica asked.
“Actually, I have to babysit Ethan and Jane tonight.”
“No problem we’ll just go over there.”
“Sarah’s your babysitter?” Jack asked.
“No! Well, I mean, yes, but it’s only because my mom doesn’t trust me to babysit my little sister. Benny you’re still coming over to play that new zombie game right?”
“Like I would miss that.”
“Think we have room for another player?” Ethan asked.
“Not if you’re talking about Rory.” Benny complained.
“I’m clearly talking about Jack, Benny.”
Sarah and Erica both rolled their eyes at their antics. “Come on, Y/N. We’ll walk you to class. Honestly, I swear you geeks almost scared her off.” Erica said.
Y/N waved goodbye at Benny, Ethan, and Jack, linking her arms with Erica and Sarah.
The bell then rang. “Do you guys know where Mr. G’s class is?” Jack asked.
“Yeah we have him for first period too. Follow us.” Ethan said.
School seemed to go by like a breeze with their new friends by their sides. Before they knew it, they were all heading out the doors.
“Alright. Jack and I need to head out, but we’ll meet you guys at Ethan’s house later. See ya.” Y/N said. There was a series of byes and Jack and Y/N hopped into the Jeep they had jacked from the bunker.
Erica left shortly after that saying something about how she needed to pack some clothes and makeup for later.
“I should give her a love potion.” Benny said.
“Do you remember how that turned out last time? I still have nightmares.” Ethan shuddered.
“Benny, don’t let this get to your head, but I think you might actually have a chance with her. She stared at you throughout the entirety of biology class. You should just ask her to see a movie with you or something.” Sarah advised.
“Yes. I need to be more like Han Solo. God, she’d be such a pretty Princess Leia.” Benny sighed dreamily.
“Okay lover boy. You wanna stand out here all day? We’re practically the only ones still here. Your grandma is gonna get mad if you make her wait any longer.” Sarah said glancing at the SUV Benny’s grandma sat in.
“Right. See you guys later!” Benny called.
“Bye!” They said in sync.
“I’ll see you later?” Ethan asked.
Duh. If I want to get paid I don’t really have a choice.” Sarah joked. Ethan waved awkwardly and jogged to his mom’s car.
“Dorks.” She muttered to herself a slight smile on her face.
Y/N and Jack entered the place one of their hunter friends had loaned them and saw Sam researching by himself.
“Hey, Sam! Do you know when dad is gonna be back?” Y/N asked.
“Um…not really, but it probably won’t be for a few hours. He and Cas are interviewing at the moment. Why? Do you need something? Maybe I can help.”
“Well, Jack and I were wondering if we could go over to a friend’s house around seven ish? We’re just hanging out, nothing big.”
Sam looked up from his laptop. “You guys made friends?” He asked.
“Yeah. I know. I know. We probably won’t stay here, but it’s hard avoiding people everywhere we go and they’re really nice.” Y/N explained.
“Y/N, you don’t have to explain yourself to me. I think it’s good that you guys are making friends, and I think it’s fine if you go out as long as you’re back by 10:30 or Dean will flip.”
“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You’re the best uncle in the world.”
“Do you need any help with research?” Jack asked.
“No. It’s fine. You probably have homework to do.” Sam replied. Jack then headed to his room with his backpack slung over his shoulder.
“Hey, Sam?” Y/N asked sitting across from him.
“Yeah?”
“Can I talk to you about something?”
“You know that you can tell me anything Y/N.”
“I don’t…I don’t think that I can keep doing this.” She sighed.
“What do you mean?”
“The whole moving towns constantly and the saving people hunting things…I just don’t want to keep moving around. I know that it’s stupid. You’re saving the world. All of you, but I feel like I haven’t even lived. I’ve never really gotten to stop and smell the roses you know?”
“Y/N, it’s not like we can just leave you in a town by yourself. You’re only sixteen, but you’re in luck. We’re going to be here awhile. There are multiple cases in this one town and they all seem different. I don’t know what’s going on here. It’s like a Supernatural beacon.”
“Are you sure you don’t need help with research?” Y/N asked.
“No. You have homework too I’m assuming.”
“I finished all of mine in study hall. I’m available for four hours.”
Sam sighed. “Fine. You can help. I’m just looking through lore right now to try and figure out the first case.”
After about three and a half hours of researching, they both still came up with nothing. Y/N groaned.
“Are you sure there isn’t like more than one type of vampire?” She asked.
“Not according to any hunters I’ve met.” Sam said.
“Well, we didn’t think angels existed at one point and look at Cas. Look at Jack. We got an angel and a nephilim living in our house. Not to mention me. I’m a freak of nature.”
“I don’t know, Y/N. If we haven’t encountered one before, I don’t know why we would now.”
“Whatever. I’m gonna go upstairs and grab a few things, then Jack and I are leaving. I’ll see you later Sammy.”
Sam rolled his eyes at the nickname but told her goodbye nonetheless and went back to his research. Y/N grabbed her small bag that contained hand sanitizer, chapstick, lotion, a first aid kit and a pocket knife and knocked on Jack’s door.
“You ready?” She asked.
“Yeah let’s go before we’re stopped by Dean and Cas getting home.” Jack said.
They drove over to Ethan’s house and everyone else had already arrived. Y/N knocked on the door to see Benny with his mouth full of marshmallows. Y/N gasped in excitement.
“Are you guys seeing who can fit the most marshmallows in their mouth?! I bet I can win! I want in on this!” She exclaimed rushing past Jack and in the door.
“What’s the record I’m trying to beat?” Y/N asked Jane.
“It’s unclear. They argue all the time about which got the highest amount and what the highest amount is. I think it’s 176. You don’t need to waste your time here though. You should come play dress up with me and Sarah. I promise it’ll be much more fun.” Jane ranted grabbing her hand.
“Come on Y/N it’ll be way more fun.” Sarah joked. Y/N shrugged.
“You know what? Why not let’s go. You coming, Erica?”
“Playing ‘dress up’ with you is literally the only reason why I’m here. Of course I’m coming.” Erica replied grabbing her bag. They all rushed upstairs leaving the boys behind.
The marshmallows fell out of Benny’s mouth as he was watching Y/N go upstairs. Ethan fist pumped in victory.
“I win!” He yelled through a mouthful of marshmallows.
“Hey! Dude that is so not fair!”
“It’s completely fair! Just don’t get distracted next time and you might win.” Ethan said back smugly.
“Whatever. You guys wanna watch Star Wars or something?” Benny asked.
“I don’t know. Y/N might get mad if we watch it without her.” Jack half joked. Benny looked at him in exasperation.
“She likes Star Wars too?! What’s next?!”
Meanwhile, upstairs Erica had already began using Y/N as a human doll.
“Those dorks are literally not going to know what to do with themselves when they see you.” Erica praised.
“You look really pretty, Y/N. Dare I say, prettier than Debbie Dazzle.” Jane complimented.
“Is that a compliment? What’s a Debbie Dazzle?” Y/N asked Sarah.
“You mean you never had a Debbie Dazzle doll growing up?” Sarah asked. Y/N shook her head no and thought of her childhood.
“We…well, we’ve always moved around a lot, and I matured earlier than most kids. Never really got into that stuff, besides wouldn’t have anyone to play with it with anyways.”
“What about your dad or your mom?” Erica asked while brushing Y/N’s hair.
“My mom?” She asked mostly to herself. It’s not like she could straight up say that her mom was God’s sister. “My mom left us when I was young. I barely remember her.” She said. When she was born she automatically aged up to thirteen, similarly to Jack.
That was the end of that conversation. They didn’t want to pry into her personal life. Even if it felt like they’d known her for years, the truth of it was that they were practically strangers.
“Okay. All done.” Erica smiled. Y/N looked in the mirror Jane had in her room. She was shocked to say the least to see what was staring back at her. For the first time in her life, she felt normal. She felt like a regular teenage girl, not a demi-god who hunted monsters.
“Wow. I look-“
“Beautiful.” Sarah, Erica, and Jane all said at once.
https://shoplook.io/outfit-preview/2784047
“I was gonna say normal, but yeah.” She laughed.
There were a few seconds of silence then Y/N suddenly jumped out of her seat. “Is that the Star Wars theme song?!” She exclaimed. She started heading downstairs.
“What a cute little nerd.” Erica said.
“Can we go downstairs to get a snack?” Jane asked Sarah.
“Sure but you have to be in bed by 9:00 remember?” “9:30?” “Fine.”
When Y/N got downstairs she plopped on the couch in between Jack and Benny.
Benny glanced at her and did a double take. “Woah. Erica did a really good job…not that you weren’t pretty before. You’re really pretty, either way. I’m so sorry. I’m totally rambling again.”
“Are you done?” She asked jokingly.
“Yeah…well, actually,” she laughed. “So no then?”
“Well, I was just wondering if you wanted to go see a movie sometime…with me. I’ll even suffer through the new Dusk if you want.”
“No way are we watching Dusk. Pick me up Friday. We’re watching the new Avengers movie.”
Benny elbowed Ethan. “Dude. Did you hear that?”
“Yes, Benny, congratulations.” Y/N’s phone abruptly began to ring.
“Shoot. I gotta take this.” She got up and walked into the other room.
“Hello?” She asked. “Y/N? Where the hell are you? I told you and Jack to come home and stay home after school. Sam is not your dad. I am. You could’ve at least called and asked.” Dean grumbled.
“And you would’ve told me no and I would’ve been mad and you would’ve been mad and it would just not be fun at all so…”
“Are there boys there?” Y/N rolled her eyes.
“Does is matter?”
“Yes. It matters a lot.”
“You don’t know. I could be a lesbian.” She stated.
“Cut the crap, kid. You and Jack need to get your sorry asses home or youre grounded. Both of you.”
Y/N ignored that statement. “Well, I’d love to talk more, but I’m gonna hang up now.”
“Y/N Elaine Winchester I swear to Chuck if you hang up…”
“Calm down. We’ll be home in like twenty minutes. Bye.” She hung up before he could say anything else.
“Jack, we have to go. Dean is flipping out.” She said walking back into the living room.
“Did you just refer to your dad by his first name?” Ethan asked.
“Yeah I did. Because I’m mad. It’s a symbol of defiance…even if he can’t hear it. Anyways, we’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
Y/N, with annoyance, walked into the kitchen and said goodbye to Erica, Sarah, and Jane as well, before leaving with Jack trailing behind her.
Once they got home, they were greeted by all three hunters still sitting at the table researching.
“What the hell are you wearing?” Dean asked in disgust.
“Clothes. Goodnight. Good riddance. Love you partially and all that jazz. I’m going to bed. I have school.” She said running upstairs not letting anyone else get a word in.
The three men sighed. “Were there boys there?” Dean asked Jack seriously as he had Y/N on the phone.
“Yeah. Just two. Y/N has a date Friday.” Jack responded casually.
“She what?!”
“Anyways goodnight. Good riddance. Love you. And all that jazz as Y/N would say. See you tomorrow.” Jack repeated charging up the stairs.

I love mbav so much it’s one of my favorite shows ever and I’m still so upset over the cliffhanger ending but on a side note Benny weir was definitely my number one favorite character but that might be due to the fact that I have a crush on him and in real life too anyway though I will say bethan is definitely my otp favorite pairing from the show as well and I was so upset they didn’t end together in the end but I was wondering if you would consider making Bethan fanfiction for this month?
duuude i feel the same way i love the show and even me who isn’t really into shipping can’t argue that those two had some real chemistry going on. that cliffhanger ending will always suck but at least we got fanfic to cope and pretend it didnt happen lol but yeah i’ve been writing two or three (really) short fics. the requests are mostly bethan so lucky you! i just put a new i did under the cut. its short and smiple and not too over the top shippy. its still good i think but the next bethan fic i want write to be super over the top shippy for fun with fluff (and angst with comfort ofc) (also this is on ao3)
The Valentine Dance at school was only a week away and Benny had the less than amazing plan to confess some long time dwelling feelings, and if he was lucky score a date to the dance. Although, he was lacking in any confidence seeing as he was never the best with plans and had the worst luck with... Well with everything if he was honest. Ethan was more the plan guy. Which was a total problem when Ethan is who the confession was for. Benny debated for half the school day if he should ask anyone for help, it became pretty obvious that they wouldn’t be that helpful. Rory can’t keep a secret to save his undead life, Erica isn’t much of the romantic type (ignoring that she wouldn’t want help at all in the first place), and Sarah... Actually Sarah might be the only one that would be any real help. That’s if she wanted to help. After what happened Freshman year with Ethan pinning for her and the eventual coming out from Sarah that she didn’t like guys it was sometimes amazing they could still be friends without one of them dying of awkwardness. If anything it was more awkward to ask for help from your current crush’s ex-crush, but Benny was out of options.
“Hey Sarah!” Benny greeted on his phone, his leg bouncing as he sat nervously on his bed. He had decided that he would try talk to her after school, partly hoping he would talk himself out of doing any of this. “I kinda need your help for something important. How quick do you think you could be at my place tonight? Sarah? Sarah!”
When there wasn’t a reply Benny repeated her name wondering what happened followed with a moment of silence and a sudden swiping sound of gusting wind through his phone then a whoosh out in front of his bedroom window. Vampire speed, always handy. “This quick enough for you?” Sarah giggled. Between last year to now Sarah was a lot more playful about her vampire-ness, much to the amusement of Benny.
“Knew I could count on you, Sar!” He grinned at her.
“As always. So, what’s this super important thing you needed my help in the middle of a school night?” She asked, jumping onto his bed with a weightless thump. “Is it a magic problem or just your special brand of weirdness for tonight?”
“Ha! Very funny. I mean it. It’s serious. There’s the dance coming up and I need your help scoring with-” Benny was cut off by Sarah abruptly standing up with a squeaked out “What!”
“Benny! I thought you said this was serious. I rushed over here for you thinking ugh-I can’t believe you! I am not helping you with ‘score’ with some random-”
“It’s Ethan.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah....”
“Benny, I am really sorry.”
There was an awkward silence that made Benny want rip his insides out which was a total confidence booster. “Nah, no, it’s fine. I shouldnt have been so ‘Benny’ about it. My fault.” Benny’s voice sounded worn and hoarse. Sarah wrapped her arms around Benny to comfort him, sitting back on his bed they stayed quite, Benny taking steading breathes. “I know it’s been a summer since he got over you, but I dunno we’ve always been friends and really close. Confident Benny wants say there’s a chance he’s into me, but Nervous Benny says everything I think has been a sign is just me getting way too hopeful and I’m just,” Benny sighed leaning into Sarah’s hug. “Really tired dancing around how I feel all the time.”
“Awe, Benny,” Sarah settled into her place on the bed facing her favorite spell-caster. “Okay. I’ll help you. What’s the plan?” Benny sheepishly smiled and raised his shoulders.
“I was kinda hoping you could come up with something. I’m more of a plan follower than a plan maker. My ideas tend to lead to the actual problem that needs fixing.” He laughed nervously.
“I think I can come up with something. You still know that flower spell, right?” They grinned at each other.
“Of course.”
+++
The school dance was now only four days away and Sarah’s plan was simple and more importantly fool-proof. Which is what Benny was counting on.
“So, all you need to do is talk to him. Take him to the park. Whoa him with some magic, some flowers and then boom! Ask him to the dance. Simple and sups romantic.” Sarah said as they walked outside to see Ethan and their friends waiting for them in the school parking lot. “Think you can manage?”
Benny waved at them nervously. “I’m totally going mess this up.”
“Ben, it’s literally the most straightforward plan on the planet. There’s no way for you to mess it up. Just be your usual funny and charming self, it’s what he loves most about you.” Sarah smiled reassuring. Reaching their friends Benny tried not act anymore strange than his typical self, which was hard when Benny’s go to was being strange. It came with the magic powers and general teenage boy awkwardness. Erica was pushing Rory back onto the ground as he tried to float above her head saying there was something in her hair, there wasn’t, really he just wanted steal her hair pin that he was obsessed with.
“Come on, Erica!” Rory teased picking at the clip.
“Rory, if you don’t stop I’m going drive a stake through your un-dead heart!” She threatened as Ethan laughed before turning his attention to Benny and Sarah.
“Hey, Sarah, Ben.” He smiled sweetly, his eyes glancing at Benny with a sheepish blush. Although the boy in question was too busy freaking out internally to notice. “We still on for movie night?”
“Oh right!” Sarah said suddenly with a false quickness. “I totally forgot that’s tonight. Me and the vamps have some Vampire Council business and such. Y’know, vampires only. Heh.” She lied poorly but Ethan was just a little too slow to catch on.
“We do?” The two other vampires said holding off on their mini fight over a hair clip, Erica holding onto both Rory’s wrists in opposing directions. Erica watched the panic in Sarah and Benny’s eyes that said all she needed to know; ‘please just pay along’ written all over their faces. “Oooh. Yes-yeah. We do. Totally. No humans allowed or they will eat your face off. We’re doing a... vampire... ritual.... Yeah.”
“We do that? Awesome!” Rory said suddenly excited if not a little confused. “Why didn’t they tell me anything? Do you guys have their number or something because if so I feel it’s unfair that I don’t-”
“Rory, not right now.” Erica pulled her hair clip out of Rory’s hand, annoyed. “We should get going. Don’t want be late for the... ritual. Right, Sarah?”
“Right! Yeah, we really need get going. Super speed can only be so quick. Let’s go.” Sarah chuckled, pushing two of her friends away from Ethan and Benny. “We’ll see you later!” The three vamps speeded off, the other two waving them bye. The school parking lot was empty by then, Ethan’s full attention placed fully on Benny who felt the crushing weight of his friend’s eyes on him as he always did when they were alone. It was easy to play off any pining feelings when they hung out, their friendship had always been enough for Benny. Even when he had see Ethan longing after a different person, it was hard sometimes, but Benny could always push down any budding jealously or unsettling sadness. Ethan would always be his friend and now if he was lucky he could put boy in front of friend. The thought making his cheeks warm and his heart fast.
“Soo, movie night?” Ethan asked, they started their walk home only instead Benny had planned to take a subtle left turn towards the park the spell for appearing flowers repeating in his head.
“Actually I was thinking we could, uh, go for a walk... to the park?” Benny flinched with the odd expectation that his friend would suddenly reject him right there and then. “I have something I want show you, I dunno. Is that dumb? I feel dumb.”
“Benny. It’s cool. Come on, I kinda wanted tell you something anyways.” Ethan replied with a smile, his hand close to gracing against the taller boy’s. The near touch drawing them closer to each other, they’ve always gravitated towards one another with a strange pull that was always between them. Benny wondered if Ethan ever felt it, if he could ever see how Benny looked at him with such love and care. Maybe his seer powers let him see it more clearly than Benny felt it, lucky him Ethan still didn’t fully know how mind read yet.
The start of their walk was mostly silent, the longer the quite went for the more Benny’s internal freak out grew into full blown panic. He was seriously reconsidering saying anything at this point. Half way to the park and they hadn’t said a single word to each other, a first for their friendship. Ethan was biting his lower lip clearly lost in deep thought, Benny was too nervous to speak and break into whatever was going through the shorter boy’s head.
“Ben... Benny, heh, uh, I’ve been wanting to say this for awhile and I didn’t know how and I know you’re you know... You.” Ethan started. None of his words were comforting to Benny right now. “Wait-wait. That came out weird. I just wanted say when we came out to each other last summer. I know I acted really weird afterwards and it was totally uncool of me and I know I should’ve said sorry forever ago, but I’m real sorry, Ben. It was lame of me and I only acted like that because there some feelings I didn’t think I was ready to think about and now it’s like my brain is stuck thinking them but I don’t want things weird so, uh, am I making any sense?”
Benny didn’t know if he should laugh or cry, he went with the former and abruptly began to giggle in a almost soft of manic way. The sudden out bust of laugher worried Ethan. “Why are you laughing? Benny, I’m being serious. Come on, dude.”
“Sorry, dude. It’s just, you really scared me there for a second, E. I know it was a weird shift it’s totally fine. I was never mad.” Benny said, his laughter subsiding. Although he took note of the last bit, he didn’t want feel like he was reading too much into it but it couldn’t nothing, right?
They reached the park a few yards off where there was a bench was waiting for them. The lump in Benny’s throat was starting appear and it was getting too late for him to choke and bail on this whole thing. “Let’s go sit on the bench. It’s my turn to ramble and make barely any sense.”
“So nothing new.” Ethan teased. Ben wrapped his arm around Ethan’s neck and ruffled his hair.
“Yeah, yeah. Just sit down, okay?” Benny sat down with a nervous smile and his leg bouncing with a quick uneasy pace. “On the topic of us not being the straightest lightsabers in the bunch. Heh. There’s the dance coming up and I didn’t want go alone and there’s this person I wanted ask-”
“Really?” Ethan butted in with a sad look making something clink in Benny’s head. “That’s... great. What’s he like?”
“Oh you know, he’s really cool and mega smart and like, the biggest dork in the whole world.” Benny was grinning now, biting his lower lip to fight back his nervous joy. Maybe it was petty but if he was understanding right then making Ethan jealous for two minutes would make up for last year’s Sarah obsession.
“Oh. Uh. He sounds really cool. I’m glad you like him so much. So, what’s the plan to ask him out?” Ethan asked, his mood becoming more downcast suddenly. E, you pretty idiot. Well, just a bit of teasing fun wouldn’t hurt.
“Mhm. Yeah, he’s really great. I was thinking of asking him after school, y’know, surprise him with some flowers use a little magic to make sure their his favorite. Like this,” Benny made a quick glance to make sure no one was looking before making a bouquet of flowers appear. It had been the first simple trick that Benny had ever show Ethan. It started as a cheesy way to impress girls now it was becoming a cheesy way to impress his Ethan. The flowers matched the color scheme of Ethan’s favorite Star Wars character, right down to matching the center one with the character’s lightsaber.
Ethan stared at the flowers with a shy sadness. “Oh? Then what? Explain to him vampires are real next? I’m sure that one will go over real great, Bens.”
“Maybe. I think he’d be freaked out at first, probably less than he should be but grow to think it was way kick ass. I think he’d do pretty awesome fighting some bloodsuckers. Bet he looks really hot staking one out. The same way I think he looks really hot when he plays video games and starts losing and sits on my lap-which is totally cheating by the way, but I let it slide because again total cutie. I want ask him to the dance, maybe after we could sneak out and-”
“Jeez, Benny. Stop it, okay. I get it.” Ethan stood up from his seat, covering his ears. “You must really like him. What’s his name?”
“Oh, I dunno it’s something like Ian? Eric? Wait! No, I remember it’s Ethan Morgan the dumbest yet prettiest boy in town. Only second to yours truly.” Benny grinned gaining more of a cool confidence as he saw the way Ethan’s blush grew dark across his face.
“Oh.”
“Yeah ‘oh’ you dope! Who else could I have ever been talking about?! Han Solo?”
“First of all, I don’t know! And second, Han was totally gay for Luke but that’s for a different time.” Ethan said, glancing as an older couple walked past them.
“Wait, were you jealous? Like actually?”
“What! No way, I was not.” Ethan’s blush creeped up to his ears. “And anyways, it was totally not cool of you-”
“Then we’re even. Fair?” Benny leaned closer to Ethan, the flowers disappearing from between them. “Were the flowers too gay?”
Ethan leaned closer and bit his lip. “Bens, I don’t know how break this to you, but you’re like the gayest person in town.”
“Second to you.” He laughed before Ethan closed the gap between their lips catching him off guard. The small doubt that lingered in the back of his mind was put at ease as their lips fit together. “Sorry. I was really hoping I didn’t mess this up.” Benny tried not to giggle.
“Lucky you, your bad gay jokes and charm is what got me hooked on you in the first place.”
“Yeah, guess I am a catch. So... We’re on for the dance?”
“Yeah.” Ethan smiled holding Benny’s hands. “Yeah, Bens. We are.” They grinned at each other, hands clasped together and knees touching.

13 | Evil Negative
Series: Supernatural Squad | Benny Weir
Word count: 3.3k
A/N: ~ means POV changes
"How did your suggestion go? I say she turned you guys down because you don't look happy." I say as Benny walks up to my locker. "It's unfair. You thought our idea was cool right?" He asks and I just sigh, "Yes and no. Yes, it's good for those who don't like taking pictures because of the way they look and it helps our vampire friends. No, it's a little nerdy for some people who don't like gaming and making a fake them. They wanna show off they look good." I explain to him.
"It's BS though, it shows how people see themselves on the inside." He pouts throwing a small fit. "It's okay, I still see you as Thor Angerheart on the inside." I pat his back. "Really?" He cheers up some. "No, not really." I close my locker patting his back again. "I see you as Benny Weir on the inside and outside. The nerdy, funny, smart, caring, brave at times, loving boy. Oh and a first level spell master in training." I smile walking off backwards.
"Rude but thank you at the same time. Wish other girls would say that to me." Benny says making me sigh, "Benny, I don't know how many times I have to tell you this... The right girl will come around and love you for you. I get that you want one of the hot girls here but they don't care about you. You wanna be with someone who does." I tell him the truth turning to leave him.
"Hey, Sadie. I'm getting my hair done after school. Do you wanna come with me?" Erica asks as I walk past her. "Umm I'm not sure yet. I gotta see how my day goes." I laugh as she told her eyes. "Oh and make sure Sarah doesn't turn into a dork. She's starting to act like Ethan." I nod my head, "Oh will do. I don't need a female version of Ethan. I'll make sure your bestie doesn't change too much." She wraps an arm around my shoulder. "Thank you, and I love you." She smiles before walking off.
~
"So this morning, Hannah was really nice to me and asked if she could... confide in me." Ethan tells Benny in class. "Dude, it's a trap." Benny tells him. "I knew it! The next time I saw her, She swore like my dad in traffic." Ethan explains. "There are two sides to every girl, like a coin: Heads, she's crazy; Tails... same as heads." Benny explains making Sadie turn around to face him. "I'd watch it if I was you." Sadie says before they hear Hannah's voice.
"Hey, Cammy. Oh, I totally love your skirt." She tells a girl. "Heads." Benny says. "Oops, I am so sorry!" She then knocks books out of a guys hands. "Tails. Good luck with that." Benny goes back to his paper. "I don't know, something doesn't seem right. That's too quick of a change in mood for a girl. Trust me." Sadie says looking at Ethan.
"Ow!" Hannah throws something hitting Rory in the eye as they were eating. "Ha-ha! Yes! Now that was a three-pointer! Who else wants some of this?!" She shouts. "If she asks you out, you'd better say yes." Benny tells Ethan and Sadie was wondering if they didn't know she had a boyfriend. "Oh, she saw us. What do we do?" Ethan makes himself small. "Just act natural." Sadie sighs playing with her food. "Well, I'm naturally nervous, so that should be easy."
Tumblr media
"Baby still crying because he can't be Superman in the yearbook?" Hannah leans on the table next to Sadie. "Superman? Please. He's a bit too... retro. A little too...old school." Benny tells her only making her tilt his tray so his food goes on his lap. "Aww. And it was such a nice nerd shirt." She walks away. "I don't care how much of a crush she has on you. She just made Benny's list." He clenched his fist. "It was just a sandwich though." Sadie says not understand his anger.
As the three of them walk around as school was ended soon Ethan tells them what he saw. "An evil twin? Dude, come on." Benny says not getting it. "Well, somehow the evil part of Hannah became a whole other person. One Hannah is normal; the other is a pile of angry snakes." Ethan tells them. "So, you got twins crushin' on ya." Benny smiles. "Yeah. But one of them is evil. We have to do something." Ethan says making Sadie shake her head walking with them.
"Yeah, you're right. I'll come over tonight, we'll play some Heckbot Rebellion, take care of it tomorrow. She is still just a girl." Benny tells him. "Yeah, you're right. What's the worst she could do? Make fun of someone's shoes on Facebook?" Ethan jokes. "Exactly, Sadie you coming over tonight too?" Benny asks her. "I don't think so. After school I'm going with Erica to watch her get her hair done. Then dad wanted to go out to eat tonight." She tells them.
~
"I love that you agree to come with me. Maybe you can replace Sarah." Erica says as we walk together. "I have nothing else to do and I guess spending time with you is good. I mean it's been forever." She links her arm with mine. "Very true. Hey, why don't you got your hair done too? I'll pay for it." She shows me her fangs. "Erica." I raise my eyebrows. "I'm joking but really I'll pay for you. Remember you're my little sister I never had." She smiles. "Yeah, okay." I say making her clap her hands. "Hold on, time to fly." She smiles. "Not my first time. Rory helped me out when I was running late one time." I laugh as we go up.
---
Tumblr media
"Don't you look cute today." Sarah smiles as I join her. "Erica paid for my hair yesterday." I say shocking her. "As in money or..." She points at her mouth. "Money... then took the male stylist out for dinner." She shakes her head as we talk to a group of girls. As we were talking there was the sound of a loud motor and screeching tires. "Benny?" Sarah and I say at the same time. "What the hell?" I ask as he mocks a car locking sound.
Tumblr media
"Oh. Hey, babes. Like my new ride?" He asks us. "You bought a go-cart?" Sarah asks him. "Rented. But I'm thinking of stealing it." He says making me chuckle. "That doesn't sound like a Benny thing. Are you sleepwalking again?" I ask making Sarah laugh. "No. But I am walking out of this town. So if you want a shot at this, then you'd better hurry up. Especially you." Benny tells us then sends me a wink.
"The only shot I'd take at that is with a right foot." Sarah tells him. "Oooh. Time's running out, sweetness. You though have all the time in the world." Benny walks away from us. "How could he get even more weird?" Sarah turns to me. "I have no clue." I say leaving to go to my locker.
"So babe, have you made up your mind?" Benny asks walking up leaning next to my locker. "Didn't I tell you don't call me that the first time you did when you let being friends with David got to your head?" I ask putting things away. "You did but it fits you so well." He steps closer to me. "I don't know what's going on with you because you're especially weirder than normal... but stop practicing on me to pick up girls." I close my locker.
"Who says I'm practicing for other girls?" He leans down towards me. "Benny, knock it off. Are you sick or what? You didn't even change out of yesterday's clothes." I say walking away from him but he jogs after me. "I'm love sick." He smirks making me eye him. "I-I-I think you should go home and get some rest." He grabs my arm. "Then maybe you should come home with me. If you get what I mean." I tug my arm back.
"What's gotten into you? Did you mess up some spell or something?" He just laughs at me. "No, I just the part of me that knows what he wants. I made up my mind and not chicken to do this." He pushes me up against the lockers. "Ben-," I shut up as he leans down super close to my face. "I love this." He laughs walking away.
I don't know how many times Benny had randomly showed up in the halls still acting weird. Really I didn't know if he was just pulling my chain and seeing how far he could push me. Or if he literally messed up on a spell because he's done something similar trying to make himself badass. "You can't keep trying to hid from me." He was there as I turn a corner. "Benny, what are you getting out of this?" I ask crossing my arms. "Hopefully you." He tries to wrap an arm around me but I move away. "Okay, that's enough. Whatever you are doing you win. Can you stop now?" I beg him. "I will when I get you. See you around, babe." He walks off as I go look for Sarah.
"You look out of it." Sarah laughs as I walk up to her. "It's Benny... He, umm, I don't even know." I lean against the lockers. "What did he say?" She asks. "Not just want he said but what he did earlier. Still calling me babe, hitting on me which I told him to stop practicing on me, and he said that he wasn't. I asked him if he was sick and he said love sick, so I told him to go home and he told me to go with him... if I know what he means. He pushed me up against a locker and leaned in super close to my face before walking away."
She just looked at me lost, "That's extra odd for him." I nod my head. "He keep randomly popping up just to stare at me and ask did I make up my mind. So I keep trying to hid and not run into him or Ethan. Knowing them they will come see you soon so I gotta get going." I say rushing off from her.
~
"If you hit on me again, I'm gonna hit on you, but not in the way you think!" Sarah grabs Benny. "Hey, hey, hey, hey, if you're gonna punch me, don't I get to have fun annoying you in the first place?" Benny asks confused. "Whoa, okay? Sarah, let me guess: You saw Benny today, and he was a complete jerk." Ethan asks her. "Yeah! But even more than usual." She crosses her arms. "No time to explain- magic camera, Hannah invented evil twins, we gotta destroy the negatives before more evil twins-ugh! I stop Hannah. You guys find Benny." Ethan says rushing off.
"You heard the man, let's go." Benny tells Sarah. "Have you seen Sadie?" He asks her. "Oh Umm about that... Yes, she just ran away from me because she knows you guys were going to talk to me at some point. Benny, I think you should know something." She says making him stop walking. "What? And why did she run off?" He asks confused. "The evil you keeps hitting on her and she doesn't know it's not, you know, you you." His eyes widen. "Hitting on her? Like... how?" He asks nervous. "You keep calling her babe and basically trying to get her. Oh, you also pushed her up against a locker leaning closer to her."
"Evil me is doing that?!" He runs his hands through his hair. "Do you actually like Sadie?" She asks making Benny walk off. "We gotta stop him before he makes this worst for me!" Sarah jogs after him. "So you do like her." He glares at her. "I'm starting to like her again like when I first met her, okay. Now can we find me or either her?" Benny begs her. "Wherever Sadie is he will be there. Trust me, she said you won't leave her alone till he gets the answer he wants.
~
"Oh babe, the person I wanted to run into." Benny says running past me then backs up. "What now?" I ask as he takes a picture of me. "What the?" I ask as he takes a hold of my hand. "Now I'll have my best friend and my girl." He chuckles making me groan. "Benny, please just knock it off. Also where are you dragging me to?" I ask as I see he's going to the boys restroom. "Wait, isn't that your grandma's camera. The one that makes an evil version of people?" I ask as he lets go of my hand smirking at me.
"Well that explains how you've been acting." I start to laugh. "I'm surprised, when I touched you earlier you didn't get a vision." He walk towards me. "Well I'm having some problems at the moment." I back up hitting the stall as he grabs the top of the door above my head. "So now that you know the truth about me... How do you feel?" He rest his forehead on mine. "The Benny I know... wouldn't be like this because his good side knows what's wrong." He smirks, "Very true, why do think I'm the one to make a move on you? He's too scared and thinks it's wrong to like you. He doesn't want to but this side of me wants too. I find it fun liking a best friend because of everything is at risk."
Tumblr media
"Hey, Benny. Or should I call you Evil Benny?" Normal Benny walks in making me let out a sigh of relief. "What makes you think I'm the evil one? Maybe I'm normal and you're just a goody-goody." Evil Benny moves away from me. "Yeah, I don't think either of us is smart enough to make any sense of that. But only one of us is leaving this washroom." Good Benny tells himself. "What if I cook ya? Use the magic you never had the stomach to use, huh? Turn you inside out, maybe?" Evil Benny says making Benny laugh. "Right. I bet you're no better at magic than I am."
Tumblr media
"Nice jacket, though. Looks so real- pleather." I shake my head as Evil Benny goes to fight him. "You're such a jerk!" Good Benny says as I watch them struggle with each other. "I know you are, but what am I?" Evil Benny tells him. As good Benny gets the upper hand he pull out the picture. "You dropped something!" He pushes him to the ground.
"Time's up, sweetness!" Sarah rush's in kicking the bad Benny. "Yeah." Benny flushes the picture and evil Benny goes away. "Are you okay?" Sarah asks him. "I just flushed myself down the toilet. I'm gonna need some time." Benny sighs. "You okay over there?" Sarah look over at me. "Yeah, I didn't help because this is all his fault. He could take on himself." I cross my arms. "I'm going to give you two some space." Sarah leaves the room.
"Look about everything he-," Benny speaks up but I cut him off. "It's okay, I know you wouldn't do that. The evil you even said that you wouldn't do that because it's wrong, but he wanted to because of the risk between us. Plus, I'm not your type...right. But really, we're okay. I already forgot what happened." I force a laugh leaving the restroom.
"You okay?" Sarah asks me. "Yeah, I told Benny it's okay what evil him did because he wouldn't do that." She tilts her head. "But it was still Benny... just the bad side of him." I nod my head. "Like I told Benny, evil him even said that he wouldn't do that because it's wrong, but he wanted to because of the risk between us. Plus, I'm not his type... that we're okay." I smile walking to my locker.
~
"You look hurt." Sarah says as Benny comes out with the camera. "I'm sure she told you what she told me." He sighs. "That she nicely said you're both okay because your dork self doesn't have the courage to say you like her. That she'd rather believe evil you did it for the fun of risking your friendship. Oh and we can't forget she's apparently not your type." Sarah crosses her arms.
"This is why I didn't want to like her again. It's worst because she doesn't like me and now she knows that part of me sorta likes her." He says as they start to walk. "Benny, I don't know how she finally feels about you...but I think she's just like you. Too scared to admit she likes you or is trying to figure out if she likes you in that way." They stop looking at Sadie at her locker. "Give it some time." She tells him walking over to Sadie and they wait for Benny.
"My boyfriend loves movies. See you later, Ethan." The hear Hannah tell Ethan. "Boyfriend? That rots, dude. At least I got my camera back. That means grandma won't spank me- with lightning." Benny says before walking off. "So Hannah never had a crush on me; She was just really nice." Ethan says. "Yeah, that can happen too." Sarah tells him. "So... you're saying that a girl can either be nice to you or mean to you when she likes you, or maybe she doesn't like you, and she's just really nice?" He asks.
"Yeah, that's about right." Sadie tells him. "That's such a mind bender." He huffs. "Ethan! Evil Benny rented a go-cart. Come on!" Benny pops back up. "I'm over it. Later!" Ethan runs off. "You're welcome!" Sarah and Sadie tell him. "Boys." Sadie sighs as the walk off.

title: holidays are for making you blush
rating: teen and up audiences
summary:
the story of a vampire learning to be loved, and the two idiots who love him.
ao3 link: link
content:
Rory Keaner grew up different from his boyfriends.
Not so much different from Benny, as they both grew up with a single parent, but much more different than Ethan. He sort of (definitely) envies Ethan in a way (in many ways); he envies his nuclear family, his good grades, his smarts, his humor, and-
His flat chest.
He envied Benny's too. Both of them, unlike Rory, grew up and identified as cisgender boys. Nothing changed about their wardrobe when they got to middle school. Neither of them had to deal with a substitute teacher who didn't know the chosen names of everyone in their class. They didn't live with the shame, the tears, the want to be someone other than themselves- they've been with each other since they were both in diapers. And Rory would never have that bond with the two of them. He would never be able to relate to them the way that they related to each other.
The jokes, the references, and the longing, knowing gazes they would shoot in the direction of the other. Rory didn't know what it was like to have someone know you inside and out. He knew the concept of his body was… an enigma all on its own. He knew his own brain betrayed him when it came to understanding a word Ethan and Benny were saying to each other half the time.
So, becoming a vampire made things…
The day he got bit was easily the best and worst day of his life. It was rushed, it was peer pressure, it was the way Rory felt waking up into a body he finally felt was his. But at the same time… he felt dead. No matter how you looked at it- he was a dead person, that was a part of him now. He didn't have a beating heart, just still blood that stayed cold and dead like cement flowing throughout his veins. He had no need to eat, but he still ate (in other ways). He didn't need sleep, not because he was immortal, but because the thought of never being the person he was before… it tore him up inside.
For the way he was born and for the way he transformed, he knew he wouldn't be the same as his boyfriends ever again. After all, they were human- well, minus Ethan because he's some type of prophet for the supernatural. And Benny too, what with him being a "spellmaster" as Grandma Weir put it. So, okay, maybe they weren't fully human. But they would grow old and live life the way it was meant to be lived- with death. And Rory would have to watch them die and be alone for all of eternity. Who else (other than a seer and witch) would be able to love someone so… noticeably undead?
To Rory's surprise, Benny and Ethan didn't really care whether he was alive or "undead." they cared about keeping Rory safe from being found out. They stole bags from the blood drive, they picked up extra sunblock for him at the corner store. Sunglasses, hoodies, rats- the whole nine yards. Just to make Rory happy. Just to keep him from exposure. it made him wonder if all those intrusive thoughts of never being to love again once they were dead were valid at all. He feels like, to a certain degree, the thought of his boyfriends staying with him (even after they were long gone) would be enough for him to make it on his own.
There were still other things about being a vampire trapped in a girl's body that bothered him. On one hand, he could run away from his mom and live his life and live somewhere with Ethan and Benny in the woods. Like they did in Dusk. On the other hand, he could tell someone other than those two what was going on, and that he needed help (a cure, a surgery, something). If he stayed the way he was, trapped inside his room with the curtains drawn and sneaking vermin into his room, he would stay like that until his mom noticed he wasn't aging and find out the awkward way. But if he just told somebody maybe it would be hard and he could find a cure like Sarah did and live and die with Benny and Ethan and-
No. That's not possible.
He can't tell anyone. Not a single soul. that he's a vampire- that he's transgender. That his disgusting, embarrassing name is Tabitha Abigail Keaner and that's the name he has to hear over and over and over at home. At a place that doesn't feel like home because home was wherever Ethan and Benny were.
But he can't keep it in any longer. Surely, it's going to get blurted out eventually. Or written in a note followed by "I've decided to skip town, you'll never see me again, goodbye everyone." He wondered, sometimes, how much a bus ticket would cost.
Not a lot of it makes sense, and not a lot of it should make sense. But he knows that no matter how horrible his home life will get, and no matter how much he wants to correct teachers and substitutes, he'll always have his home. Ethan will always put on a videogame and Benny will always order a pizza for the three of them. And they will always call him Rory, whenever they kiss or hold hands or ask him to pass the remote.
Rory decided that he wouldn't let the daunting gloom of immortality shake him as much as it did when he was just a fledgling. He decided that the future was malleable and the present was cement, because of Ethan throwing his controller and Benny slamming the door on the delivery guy's face. He cherishes what he has, even if it is two dorks in Canada. For now, as the thoughts of them dying swim in his mind's kiddie pool, Rory rests on Ethan's chest while holding Benny's hand.
-
"Chag ah molad baruch, Ror." Benny says, placing a kiss on Rory's cheek as they sat under Ethan's Christmas tree.
He blushes, both because of Benny's kiss and the embarrassment of not learning Hebrew fast enough. He looks down at the wrapped gift in his lap, sitting shiny and neat underneath a large plastic ribbon. He pulls Benny in for a hug. It only lasts for a second or two, before he pulls back to ask:
"That means 'blessed Yule', right?"
Benny laughs, then nods in agreement. He gives Rory another peck on the cheek and Rory has to try his best not to squeal like a Dusk fangirl.
"Or 'merry Christmas'," Ethan interjects, face stuffed with Grandma Weir's cookies, "but if you wanna look at its root meaning, it translates to-"
"Celebrating the birth of a male. Yes, E, we know." Benny and Rory both roll their eyes, knowing that Ethan was never slow when it came to languages.
Rory feels a bit bitter that Benny taught Ethan hebrew before him- but then again, they did meet before they met Rory, so it makes sense that Ethan would be almost fluent in it by now. Still, it didn't stop Rory from being jealous of their impenetrable bond.
Ethan shrugs, turning back to the cookie platter only to notice the last of the treats had been mysteriously eaten. He gasps dramatically, spinning around to face Benny and Rory, who were gleefully eating the remaining cookies together.
"Stupid vampire speed." he grumbles, sitting down next to the two of them. Rory ruffles his hair playfully, and he smiles.
"You should know you're no match for the vampire ninja, babe." Rory says matter-of-factly, resting on his elbows now. A smug smile was plastered on his face as Ethan scowled and Benny giggled.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." he says with his arms crossed, "open my gift first."
"No way! My gift is cooler!" Benny says, pushing Ethan's gift out of Rory's lap and snapping his fingers. Suddenly, a small, beautifully wrapped box is in the other gift's place. It sparkles with magic air, shining (quite literally) as bright as a star.
"Wh- no fair! Yours didn't glow before! Take it back!" Ethan surges towards Benny, tackling him to the ground. They both struggle for a while, Benny pulling at Ethan's hair and Ethan trying to put Benny in a chokehold while Rory falls to the floor laughing.
After enough laughing, and concern for his boyfriends' well being, Rory decides to speak up.
"Okay, how about I open the gifts with my eyes closed? That way, whichever gift I pick is a surprise."
The two boys look up from their tangled position at Rory, Ethan's fist stopping mid-air above Benny's face. They look at each other, then shrug. They untangle themselves from each other, sitting prim and proper next to the tree. It makes Rory's smile even wider.
"Seems fair to me." Benny says.
"I don't see why not." Ethan agrees.
With that, Rory closes his eyes and begins to reach underneath the tree. He feels around for a bit, hand accidentally bumping the branches of the fake plant, until he feels a gift. He can't tell whose it is, but he knows that it's medium sized and wrapped in a bow. He thinks it might be the present from earlier. He picks it up and settles it on his lap, opening his eyes.
"To Rorster, from Ethan." he reads aloud, "looks like Ethan's is up first."
Benny groans in defeat, and Ethan pumps his fist in triumph. He briefly turns to Benny and kisses him apologetically, ruffling his hair. "Better luck next time, Ben."
"Go on, open it." Ethan encourages, arm around Benny.
Rory rips through the paper excitedly, making sure to keep the bow intact as he tears off the decorative wrapping. When all the paper is gone, he sees a familiar logo across the seal. His eyes widen in realization, mouth agape in wonder. Could Ethan really have pulled this off? No way- no way he could've done this…
"Ethan, you shouldn't have…" Rory says as he peels back the seal on the package, opening it to reveal-
A chest binder.
Not just any chest binder- a GC2B binder. And not just one, but multiple; a nude one that matches his skin tone, a black one, and a navy blue one. Rory clutches his hands over his mouth. He can't believe this… he knows how expensive these were, and he just… can't imagine how Ethan got the money to buy them.
"How- how did you-" Rory picks up the binders one by one, running his hands over the smooth material. Tears began to form in his eyes.
"It was nothing, really. I just used my birthday money from the past year or so and figured it would come in handy one day." Ethan said it like it was really nothing, shrugging nonchalantly as he leaned on Benny's side.
Rory, dumbfounded, couldn't keep his eyes off the binders. They seemed to shine brighter than the magic box, to glimmer in the light of the tree. The fabric felt silky smooth on one side, and perfectly rough on the other. It made Rory's heart want to leap out of his chest and swaddle his boys in the tightest of hugs. The tears from earlier were beginning to fall as Rory couldn't keep his happiness inside of him for much longer. The two boys began to take notice of his tears, wiping their own eyes themself.
"Well, I guess you gotta open mine now." Benny smirks when he says it, a glint in his eye that Rory knew all too well.
This is either going to be a very elegant gift or a very elaborate set up to a prank.
Rory opens the gift with caution, untying the ribbon around the small box. Still glowing, Rory has to squint his eyes to lift the top of the box off. He holds his hand over his eyes as if the sun was beaming directly into them. After a while, the light begins to die down.
"Jeez, Benny," Ethan rubs his irritated eyes, "did you have to make it so… painful to look at?"
"It's for the drama, dude."
Rory chuckles at that, wiping a light-induced tear from his eye as he reaches inside the box. His hand comes in contact with something small and… textured? It feels like a chain of some sort. He picks it up, then gazes in awe at the present in his palm.
"A locket? Ben…" true to his word, it's a real locket. The chain is silver, as is the heart shaped pendant hanging from it. Rory can see his reflection in the heart, and it makes his chest flutter.
"Open it!" Benny smiles from ear to ear, along with Ethan, who is just as in awe as Rory.
Doing as he's told, he opens the pendant. Inside is a picture of the three of them. They're at the place where they got those milkshakes that made Ethan discover he was lactose intolerant. As he blinks, the image changes. The picture of Benny and Ethan dressed as Ghostbusters on Halloween makes him remember the time they got swirlies from those jocks. It changes again to a moving image of Benny tripping and falling at the roller rink.
"I have no idea how you got pictures of these, but I love them. Thank you." Rory wraps his arms around Benny briefly, kissing him on the cheek as he lets go.
"It's a spell." Benny states proudly, "it shows all of your zikheronott semekhim- or 'happy memories', with the ones you love."
Ethan slaps him playfully on the shoulder. "You made my gift look like shit!"
Benny rushes to tackle Ethan, and they return to their shenanigans. They tussle on the floor again, looking like total geeks. Rory goes into another laughing fit as Ethan sits on Benny's back, trying to force him into a grotesque, spit-soaked kiss.
-
The next day, Rory proudly walks out of his house with a flat chest. His locket tucked safely under his shirt.

Betty Weir

Benny Weir x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 1055 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Benny needs help becoming Betty and asks his loving gf for assistance.
———————————————————————————————————
The all too familiar sound of Benny's footsteps approaching your locker didn't phase you at all but there was something off about it. He didn't have his sneakers on, but somehow, you knew where they had gone.
"I swear to all that is holy, if you're wearing a skirt, I'm gonna flip" you warned, giving him a two second warning before turning on your heels, your suspicions confirmed.
There he was-your darling boyfriend, wearing not only a skirt but a halter top and bright white sneakers.
"Hmmm, I never pegged you as a blonde" you teased, running your hand lightly through the bright blonde ringlets of his wig. You had no idea why he was dressed like a girl, but with any luck, he'd let you in on the secret.
All he could do was giggle, doing a light twirl for you. The action made his red skirt swoosh around his thighs. "Ethan and I have to infiltrate the cheer squad, it's not like I'd ever do this on purpose" he grinned.
You couldn't help but laugh along with him, Benny was just so damn cute.
"Okay sure, so the plan is what?" You wondered, moving on completely from the dress to something else, anything else to change the subject.
However, as Benny continued explaining the plan to you, you noticed just how off his lady costume was. Anyone who had ever seen Benny or Ethan would recognize them almost immediately.
If he was going to do this, he would do it properly.
"Alright baby, keep talking but I have some work to do" you smiled, grabbing your makeup bag from your locker and dragging him off toward the a/v lab.
It wasn't going to be perfect by any means, considering you'd still have to cover up the guy on him but you could do it.
You knew that that there was nobody in the lab after lunch and it would be the perfect place to turn Benny into Betty if there was ever a chance.
"What are we doing in here?" he wondered, sitting in the chair you lightly shoved him toward as you closed the door.
There were a million things going through his head as he watched you, but only a small percentage were pg.
"Your girl disguise is good, but not that good...I'm trying to make it better" you informed, opening your makeup case which seemed to get much bigger every time you opened it.
You had every single thing in the world in that box and honestly, Benny thought it was magic.
"Better than this?" he teased, knowing full well that you were right. You were the prettiest girl that Benny had ever seen and if anyone was going to be able to make him over, it was you.
You smiled, sitting down across Benny's lap. The angle gave you a better access to all of his face.
All you had to do was put a little bit of makeup on him, style his wig some and send him on his way.
If Benny's makeover went well, maybe you could help make E look much more convincing too.
"Try this" you suggested, handing him your favorite tube of rose scented lip gloss. Instead of being applying it himself like you'd intended, he lent forward toward you and swiped the wand across your plump bottom lip.
It wasn't lost on him that this wasn't what you had in mind, but he didn't care. It was much more fun for him to get his way like this.
Before you knew what was happening, Benny's lips were on your own.
After the initial shock value of a surprise kiss from your adorable boyfriend, you put together what he was thinking. He was inadvertently putting on your lip gloss with your lips.
"Very cute" you grinned, placing another casual peck on his lips before snatching the tube back. The kiss had put a little bit of gloss across his grin, but not nearly as much as you'd had in mind.
"How cute? Cause I was thinking about doing it again" he winked, bringing a smile to your face, no matter how hard you tried to fight it. You had things that needed to be done but you'd never finish if he wouldn't let you.
That being said though, you didn't care about it if he didn't. You would much rather keep kissing his adorable, smooshy face than anything else.
"Pretty cute" You allowed, pulling him by the collar of his polo shirt toward you. As soon as your lips met, you melted. It didn't matter to you that Benny was pretty much in drag, all you could think about was how right it felt to have him this close to you.
He was everything you'd ever wanted, and honestly...skirt or not, you wouldn't trade him for anything in the world.
"You wanna know what's cuter?" he wondered, his forehead pressed against your own as he spoke to you. It was almost as if too much distance physically pained him, so he had to stay attached to you, at least somehow.
You shrugged, not sure what his next words would be.
Knowing Benny, he could have said Ethan. It just depended on the kind of day and what mood he was in.
"You"
The word came out of his lips and onto your own, due to your close proximity. Still, it was enough to bring a giggle up from your throat. He could be so cheesy sometimes, and you weren't sure how to deal with it...
However, humor seemed to be the best way to go.
"Hmmm, I don't know about that Betty. My boyfriend might have a problem with us sneaking around behind his back" you teased, sticking your tongue out with him. Without missing a beat, Benny smiled.
You could tell the wheels were spinning in his head to come up with a comeback and in all honesty, you were just waiting for it.
And luckily, the wait wasn't too long.
"Don't worry Y/N, we don't have to tell him" he assured, using his girly voice which really wasn't all that good. However, it was really funny and earned another laugh from you which was what he'd wanted all along.
If nothing else, he had just found another way to make you laugh.

whiteboard skywriting
ship: erica/sarah/ethan/benny/rory
tags: established polyamory, roommates/housemates
Read it on ao3
@ericajonesweek
The whiteboard is kinda how they communicate in the house right now. Sarah has clinicals and Rory is in the middle of some video game development that his team thinks might hit it big this time, and Benny is on an on-week for his paramedic job and Ethan is doing whatever Ethan does. He does something in politics, but Erica doesn’t really understand it, but he seems to enjoy it? He gets to protest against the military and systemic oppression of First Nations people, which is what he wanted, so Erica guesses he’s alright.
It’s a bit lonely around the house.
She’s home most of the time, as a commissions artist can sometimes be, but there are reminders of her housemates everywhere. Sarah’s socks never make it to her bedroom, tucked under Erica’s desk instead when she comes and drapes herself across Erica’s shoulders, easy as you please. A drawing Rory had done for her hangs above the desk, pinned to the wall with one of Rory’s Hello Kitty themed push pins. Benny hung a good luck charm from one of the shelves above the desk, hanging down in Erica’s eye level to remind her of the spellcaster. And, well, Ethan had been the one to find her desk at all. He had touched it and even though his eyes hadn’t turned white, hadn’t rolled back in that terrifying way that always makes her want to reach out to catch him, he said he saw her doing really good things at this desk. It still makes her smile to think about it.
And then there’s the whiteboard.
There’s a green marker for Rory, purple for Erica, red for Sarah, orange for Benny and blue for Ethan. There’s purple marker, smudged slightly, scrawled proudly across the top of the board; it’s the only thing that’s ever written on the board in her color. It just says “Have a good day and be your best!”
They make her a lot more positive than she once was.
She wears Sarah’s class ring on her left hand, and maybe that’s a reminder of why she’s more positive now too.
She remembers picking who would get what colors. There’s a black marker that never get used, but it was the one that Erica originally picked for herself. It’s how she feels sometimes, compared to the rest of her perfect partners and the way that they care so loudly in ways that she’s never been able to articulate so perfectly, but Benny had said no. He had taken the black marker out of her hand and told her to pick out of the colors first, so long as she didn’t pick that. At first, she had thought he just wanted it, but he grabbed orange before she could even blink. You don’t like orange anyway, he said with a grin before pointing her at the colors again, telling her to pick. Ethan had picked for her eventually. He said that she feels purple, that she feels like violet and pretty and perfect and dangerous. She had kissed his cheek and punched him in the shoulder, but she had taken it in the end too.
This morning, the whiteboard has three colors on it, besides the purple: orange, green and red. Ethan must have been in a hurry this morning, a theory that is supported by his tie still hanging from the door of the laundry room, his cereal bowl in the sink even though he hates to leave things for Erica to do (despite the fact that she’s made it quite clear that she doesn’t mind a bit). She reads the notes instead of heading to the sink immediately, tucking her hair up into a bun sloppily. She doesn’t go for the sharpness that she once tried to project anymore; it takes up so much of her that not much else is left.
Can you make sure one of my dress shirts is clean? says the board in Benny’s sloppy orange scrawl, a crude heart and an even cruder drawing of a begging Benny there to further persuade her. Erica laughs, leaving the words. She wants to let Sarah see. She takes a bite of the apple in her hand before moving onto the next.
One of my coworkers wants to commission you! Text me when you wake up, please! says Rory’s excited handwriting, single exclamation points more like seven and stars littering the space around it. Erica bounces on her heels excitedly and slides her phone out of her pocket, texting Rory for the deets. The three of them, the vampires of their fantastic fivesome, don’t need to sleep, but they do anyway. Benny and Ethan get creeped out when the three of them stay awake in bed with them, but they also don’t want to miss out on anything, so they pout when the vamps get out of bed too. Their seer and spellcaster would have conceded to it eventually, but she, Sarah and Rory had just decided on sleeping instead. She would probably miss it anyway.
She reads Sarah’s last.
Her girl always manages to make her blush.
Don’t work too hard. I love you, it says in Sarah’s clear handwriting, half cursive and half print and all beautiful. The artist in Erica wants to study it like Monet, to grab a coffee cup full of blood and hold it in both hands, sip at it and just look, just wait there until something clicks and everything makes sense.
Like everything makes sense around Sarah.
Like everything makes sense around all four of them, now. Even when she’s alone in the house, it’s still bumbling with all of the energy they have, all of the love and the laughter and the million other things she could hardly name, let alone describe. Rory’s empty coffee cup (deep red stains and all) on top of the TV stand. Benny’s boots sitting outside of his doorway like that’s where they go. The scrupulous way that Ethan always tries to pick up after himself and the hilarious way that he always fucks it up. Sarah’s socks and the hair ties wrapped around every cylindrical thing that Sarah can get her hands on and the locks of dark hair that litter everything in this house because Sarah sheds like it’s fucking going out of style.
Erica feels awfully large and awfully small all at once. And awfully like she loves every single moment of it.
She leaves all three of the notes on the board and picks up Rory’s coffee cup, setting it in the sink with Ethan’s bowl and Benny’s plate and Sarah’s cup too. The five of them barely make enough dishes for two people, let alone the five they actually are, so it’s not like cleaning up after them is any trouble anyway.
She doesn’t think it would be if they dirtied enough dishes for a hundred people, maybe. She’s someone’s perfect little housewife, something she promised she would never be, but. It’s not so bad.
It’s not bad at all. Especially, when she can be the housewife of four people who think she’s the best.
Rory takes her to Single Tear concerts, since they’re the only ones who are into it. He lets her rave and roar and they get into mosh pits together, completely unafraid of the damages they’ll take on or give. He’s her person when she just wants to go fucking feral, and that kinda rocks.
Benny takes her on fancy dates. He told her about how he used to want to marry her but now he kinda wants her to marry Sarah or maybe Rory just so he can be there, how he wants to give her away since her Dad has never been that great. He takes her to dinner and takes her arm to escort her and acts like a complete goof the whole time and always makes sure she has a good time. He never treats her like she’s stupid.
Ethan shows her things. She doesn’t know when he finds the time to go adventuring on his own, doesn’t know when he finds the strange haunts and weird places he takes her, but he does. A hole in the wall sandwich place in the next town over or a house that’s half falling apart that he’s already taken pictures of so that she can draw it, Ethan always knows what she needs to see. He always takes care of her.
Sarah… Sarah does something different every single time. A Great Lakes beach at midnight. Niagara Falls on a Tuesday. Waking her up with breakfast in bed and a finger to her lips, careful to not wake up their boys before they go out and go on an adventure. Sarah surprises her, no matter what, and keeps Erica on her toes. Sarah keeps her from getting bored, keeps her happy, keeps her.
It’s not so bad at all.

DESCRIPTION:
You’ve never been give a fair shot at the shiny things in life, and this has left you bitter, distrustful, and angry. No matter how hard you’ve worked, you’ve never been able to have what other people have. So, you’ve decided that you’ll just start taking them for yourself. The muggle world let you down, and so has the wizarding world, and you’re starting to believe that there is no such thing as a good person, only those that are willing to take their lives into their own hands. With your work ethic, and your creativity at solving seemingly impossible problems, you know that everything is yours for the taking. So, go on and take it.
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
(-) Audacious: Living in the slums, as well as being the youngest of his siblings forced Benito to learn how to stand up for himself. Whether that meant fighting with his older brother and sister to get the most comfy spot on their shared bed, or if it meant a risky steal so that he could put some food in his belly later that night. To survive in the area he did, one had to learn to be brave, or else they would never make it. It also gave Benito a certain aggression against the “haves”, considering he was decidedly a “have not” so sometimes, he just like to steal the purse of some rich old lady when she wasn’t looking. Sometimes it was for survival, sometimes it was not.
(-) Fierce: It was hard to make it in Benito’s house, and in order to be heard, one had to be loud and proud in their emotions. He feels things intently, whether that be happiness or anger. If happy, he might dance like fool or shout giddily into the air. If angry, he’s prone to throwing objects and is more than willing to get violent. While sometimes this helps Benito, more often than not, it doesn’t make things better.
(-) Hedonistic: Being forced to live a life that withheld a lot of life’s pleasures (vacations, good food, a room of his own, etc) has led Benito to believe that he ought to snatch up fun whenever he sees it. Unfortunately, this can manifest in both good and bad ways. Sometimes, it could be good. He might skive off class to work on a sculpture, but he also would never tell anybody no for a drink, even if he might have a class later that day to show up for.
(-) Greedy: Growing up as neglected and poor as he was, he has a tendency to seek out the better things of other people. He wants to have the same luxuries as other people, and is angry about how hard it is. He’s come to believe that he deserves what they have, and will take any measure to get there. Money is important to him, perhaps too much, and it is his main thing that drives him.
(+/-) Bold/Brash: Benito wasn’t scared of anything, at least nothing so far. Sometimes, it was to his benefit, because more often than not, most people assumed he was bluffing when he said he wasn’t afraid to fight. Other times, it was to his detriment, like when he attempted to curse someone of a far superior dueling skill. There isn’t much that he isn’t willing to do if he truly wants to, and there isn’t a single person he would back down from, for better or, for worse.
(+) Hard-working: Laziness wasn’t an option for Benito, not if he wanted a new pair of shoes, or the really cool toy that everyone else in primary school had. Or, at the worst of times, if he wanted to eat. In the Ortiz house, everyone worked for their share, from the moment they were able. He had to throw himself into what he was doing, no matter what it was, and it created within him an excellent work ethic. However, he is only hardworking on the things he feels have value, not those imposed on him by other people. He has his own goals in mind that are often different to those around him, and that is what he is always working towards.
(+) Confident: Benito is a hard worker, and he’s creative too. He has all of the traits to put his ideas into motion, and this has given him confidence. He trusts in his ability to follow through with his plans, and he knows that if he works hard enough, he can accomplish any goal he sets his mind too. Whether the goal be to beat someone up in a fight, or to best them in a duel, or to get Imogen to forgive him for something stupid he did, or to find a way to steal that necklace from that new Gryffindor girl without her noticing. He can do it, he knows it.
(+) Vivacious: Benito’s life was rough, yes, but it was not all bad. All of his family were very loud and outspoken people who knew how to have a good time. If there wasn’t a fight occuring in the house, then there was a party. His father’s laugh was booming and loud, and his mother spoke too excitedly when she was having fun. His brother often like to dance around the kitchen, and his sister was never afraid to trap Benito in a friendly headlock. This has given him an appreciation for fun, and the good times in life. He enjoys them wholeheartedly, and without reservation.
(+) Loyal: Benito is not a very trusting boy. He’s been let down too many times in his life for him to find it easy to trust someone, or something. It takes a long time for him to let down his walls enough to truly dedicate himself to something, but once he does, he extremely dedicated. He will do anything, no matter the risks, if it something he believes in. He’s committed to Imogen, and would do anything for her. He’s committed to the pursuit of money, and damn it, he would be rich one day. He’s committed to his family, and helping them make it in the world. It would be a cold day in hell for Benito Ortiz to back away from something he has pledged himself to
BIOGRAPHY:
“Names and attributes must be accommodated to the essence of things, and not the essence to the names, since things come first and names afterwards.” That was a quote from Galileo, some scientist, or whoever, that he had heard a little about during his primitive years of schooling. Benito Carlos Ortiz put a lot of stock into names, as was tradition among his father’s side of the family. Benito’s father, Hernando Ortiz, was born in Mexico during the winter of 1930. His name meant adventurous, as would prove to be true when the young boy grew up. Mexico was experiencing a lot of change during Hernando’s youth. President Cárdenas rose into power when Hernando was a boy, and began attempting to enact a vast amount of social change. However, the Ortiz family was very poor, living in a small rural village, and many of these benefits never reached them. They stayed in a single room shack together: his mother, his father, and all four of his siblings. Life was hard, and Hernando felt as he got older that it only got even more difficult. When Hernando was ten years old, World War II was ravaging the world, and his father enlisted in the Mexican Army, which was planning to help America after the attack on Pearl Harbor. That was the last time that Hernando ever saw his padre. Six years later, Mexico had a new leader: President Alemán. Life had been tough, and scary ever since his father had died, and things were more divided than ever between the rich and the poor. So, with one bag tossed over his shoulder, Hernando walked away from his village at the tender age of sixteen, to see if he might fair better somewhere else in the world.
He snuck upon a supply ship to Portugal and lived off of the few items of food he had brought with him. When that ran out, he ate the rats that scurried to and fro across the lower deck. It was hard, but Hernando was used to such things. Eventually, however, he reached Portugal, and life truly began. He spent a year in Portugal, sometimes managing to scrounge enough money to stay in an inn, but lots of times he just had to sleep on the street. After Portugal, he headed to France, hoping he might have better luck in the Country of Love. However, he didn’t find it quite to his liking, and quickly moved on over to Spain. Hernando loved Spain a lot, for he knew the language they spoke. He’d had quite a rough time these past two years, struggling to learn different languages in order to converse with the people around him. Spain was a nice break from this. He was seventeen when he arrived in Spain, and he stayed there until nearly his twentieth birthday. He worked a variety of odd jobs and stayed in a small, rundown flat with three amigos he’d met at work. However, as his name demanded, Hernando had a thirst for adventure, and eventually, he moved on. From Spain, he headed to Great Britain. As with France, he didn’t stay long, and moved again before the year ended. From Britain, he headed to Northern Ireland, Belfast specifically, where he would find himself staying for quite a long time. It was on his twenty second birthday when he got the job at the local Ship Carpentry. It was fine work for a single man, and he was happy where he was.
Two years after his move to Ireland, in the year 1954, Hernando met Annabel Buckley.
Annabel was also born in the winter, but in the year 1938. Her name meant delight to be around, and the surname of Buckley meant servant. Both of these things would prove true, for awhile anyways. Annabel was born into a quaint, small, and loving Irish family. She had an older sister, whom she loved dearly, and she got on splendidly with her mother and father, as most toddlers did. When she was of the tender age of three, Annabel’s mother was killed in the 1941 bombings of Belfast. At the time, Annabel’s father was fighting on the war front against Germany, where he too succumbed to battle. This left Annabel and her older sister alone and orphaned. Annabel doesn’t remember this too much, considering her young age. Her older sister, however, worked hard to make sure that the pair was provided for. Eventually, after an entire year of living on the street with many other orphaned children, Annabel’s older sister was able to find work in a Belfast pub, ran by a kind, elderly couple. They allowed Annabel and her sister room and board in exchange for work, and this is where the girls stayed for most of their lives. As she grew up, Annabel took on more and more responsibility in the pub, eventually becoming one of their more favored servers. She was beautiful, with golden blonde hair and shining green eyes. Her cheeks always had a rosy sort of glow to them, and she was wonderfully charismatic to boot. It was no wonder that Hernando couldn’t tear his eyes away from her. And, to remind you, her name did mean ‘delight to be around.’
Annabel was sixteen when the devilishly handsome, and worldly travelled Mexican man came into the small village pub in which she resided. She sat him at his table, and immediately, the two couldn’t keep their eyes off of one another. The chemistry was almost touchable in the air between them, and it didn’t take long for the two to come together in an incredibly passionate, heavily romantic relationship. Annabel often remarked that Hernando made her feel like the woman in the romantic moving pictures at the theater, and Hernando often claimed that she was the first thing that truly made him feel alive. They were awfully in love with one another, and that love culminated in a pregnancy, two months from the day that they met. Hernando, who truly did love Annabel, wanted to do right by his amor, thus, the pair was married just a month after they discovered the pregnancy. And, for a bit, they seemed every bit the picture perfect family. Eight months after their marriage, in the (again) winter of the year 1955, Elena Ortiz was born. Hernando chose her name, which meant Light, for he considered his darling daughter to be the true light of his life. He fell into fatherhood with a delightful ease, and found that he could spend hours cooing and smiling at his hija pequeña. The small little family did not have much money, but they had more than enough love to fill their one bedroom house. For the first time in his life, Hernando Ortiz felt grounded and settled. For the first time in her life, Annabel Ortiz felt like she had a full and complete family again.
A year and a half later, when Elena was in that adorable early-toddler stage, Annabel fell pregnant again. Like with Elena, this had been an accident, but Hernando and Annabel were decidedly less excited about it, this time around. Another child would cost a lot of money, and they were only barely making ends meet at the current moment. Not to mention, they lived in a house with only a single bedroom. This brought Hernando back to his childhood, reminding him of the one bedroom shack he’d shared with his large family. He wanted to do better by his own children, so he relocated them to a different house, one with two bedrooms. However, it was a bit more expensive, and when their son was born, both Hernando and Annabel felt that they were at their wits end. Like he had with Elena, Hernando chose the name for his eldest son as well. Leonardo Ortiz, whose name meant Brave As A Lion, was born in the early summer, June of 1957. The family began to struggle in a way they never had before, just to put bread and cheese on the table. Hernando started working a lot of doubles, and began drinking a lot to cope with it. Annabel, who had always been a bit of a drinker, did the same. The resulting stress, drunkenness, and anger that came from this began to sour the previously loving and devoted relationship that Hernando and Annabel shared. They grew violent, the both of them, and it was began to be commonplace for the neighbors to hear loud screams and breaking glass over the sound of small children crying.
Still, Hernando and Annabel had made vows to one another, vows that they refused to break. They hoped that one day, things would be easier. They kept faith that one day they would find a way to love each other like they used to. Unfortunately, those days never came. The months continued to tick by for the Ortiz family, and they lived in a sort of limbo for many years, flipping rapidly between awful fights and wonderful family bonding. Around the time that Leonardo was two years old, Hernando fell back into contact with the family he had left behind in Mexico so many years ago. He began speaking to his mother again, and his brothers and sisters and uncles and aunts, and even his abuela, who was somehow still alive. He began to make annual visits to them, though he could never afford to bring his wife and children along with him.
Years later, in the early spring of 1961, Annabel fell pregnant once more. The family, at this point, had gotten used to their low income and had found means to survive around it. They weren’t happy, but they weren’t necessarily unhappy either. It was in this strange middle ground that Annabel and Hernando’s third child, and second son, was born. Like his father, mother, and sister, the child was born in the month of December. Hernando, as was tradition by now, chose the name. He gave the boy the first name of Benito, which meant Blessed. He hoped that the name would rain down good fortune on his son one day, and that the good fortune might trickle down to the rest of the family. Benito Carlos Ortiz always kept this in mind, believing it to be his duty to gift blessings to his family one day.
With Benito’s arrival, the Ortiz was complete, and the real story can now begin.
Benito was a happy baby, and an even happier toddler. He shared a room, as well as a bed, with his big sister and brother. During these young years of his, he was quite close with Leonardo, who was only four years older than him. From the moment that Benito was walking, the two brothers ran all around the house, causing mischief for their mother, father, and sister. Leonardo was Benito’s first role model. However, that’s not to discredit Elena. Elena, his bright and smart big sister, was the one who taught him how to survive in a world as poor as theirs. Not to mention that she also sacrificed a lot of her own toys and happiness so that her brothers might enjoy a happier childhood than she had. The family was close, despite the rather wild fights they often got into, and Benito has always looked back on this as his happiest time, the only time he could remember his family truly being a unit, albeit a dysfunctional one. Sure, their family could fight. In fact, they knew how to do this very well. Benito’s spent his childhood watching his mother throw a fist in his father’s face, and then watching as his father threw her to the ground in retaliation. He had never really been too bothered by such things, figuring that this was just the way life was. Besides, as much as they knew how to fight, they also knew how to have a good time. Alcohol permeated their family, and the community around them, and Benito honestly couldn’t remember one of their good times that wasn’t helped by the influence of alcohol. Some of his fondest memories were watching as his father and brother tapped their glasses of tequila together in a companionable gesture before tossing the liquid down their throats. He looks back fondly on their nights seated around the kitchen table, playing cards and singing old traditional family songs together: Irish and Mexican alike. Benito and Leonardo often wrestled, and while Benito never won, he always had fun. His sister loved to dance, and even more than that, she loved to wrangle her reluctant brothers into dancing with her. His childhood, while not perfect, was not entirely awful either. Sure, it was hard, and there were nights that he went without food. But there was love in his heart, and in his household, so he knew that he would be alright.
However, all of that changed when he was just seven years old.
For all of his life, Benito knew that his father had family back in his home country of Mexico. After all, he left home for a two weeks once a year to go and visit them. However, one day, just after Hernando had returned from his weekly visit to Mexico, Annabel found something while looking through his suitcases. There was a small envelope, hidden beneath a secret little flap, that was filled with pictures. Pictures of Hernando with some woman, a woman who was not Annabel. And, if that weren’t bad enough, there pictures of children. Two, to be specific. They were both girls, and they both looked to be similar to Benito’s age. There with pictures of the girls, of the woman, and of Hernando with all of them together. Annabel dug a little further, and dug up some love letters, written to Hernando by a woman named Amanda, who she presumed to be the woman in the pictures. She couldn’t understand them, for they were written in Spanish, so she brought them to Elena to translate. Elena read them, growing angrier and angrier with every word her eyes ran over, and when she finished, she looked up to face her mother with furious tears in her eyes. It seemed that Hernando had started another family, all the way across the world, and he’d kept it hidden from them for years. Now, it made complete sense why he had never brought his wife or children to meet his mother, or grandmother, or brothers and sister. Annabel wondered if he had brought this Amanda to visit them, or the two little girls. She wondered if his mother even knew about Elena, or Leonardo, or Benito? For the first time in her life, Annabel wanted to be rid of Hernando.
And so, she confronted her husband one day, after he had finished a fifteen hour shift. He stepped through the door, looking weary and tired and in dire need of a shower. Annabel didn’t care, and she flung the photos and the letters right into his face. The resulting fight was spectacular, the worst one that Benito had ever seen in his seven years of life. Leonardo jumped in at one point, trying to use his lanky eleven year old body to protect his mother. Hernando was enraged at the disrespect shown to him by his son, and things looked as if they would continue to get worse. But, then Elena stepped in. Faced with his beloved daughter’s disappointment, rage, and hurt, Hernando couldn’t face it. He fled up to his room, packed a bag, and walked right out the front door, never to be seen again by the four remaining Ortiz’s.
The absence of their father shattered the family, and from then on, they began to splinter off into different directions. Annabel turned even more so to drink, especially now that she had to work to support the children alone. She grew angry, and bitter. Benito didn’t think her name was true anymore, for she was most definitely not a delight to be around. She was mean, and she was always drunk. It became commonplace for her to pass out on their couch, surrounded in a pool of her own alcohol, or, if she was really drunk, a pool of her own vomit, or urine.
Elena grew angry too, and stopped looking out for her little brothers quite so much. The three children had to contribute to the household now, and since they were eleven and seven, Elena considered them old enough to do so. After all, she was thirteen. It was high time she started looking out for herself after spending so many years helping those around her. She grew closer with Annabel, however, and never blamed her for her drunken depression. She placed the blame firmly on the shoulders of her padre, who she know hated with a fiery passion.
Leonardo felt the same way, for he had never gotten along with father. To Hernando, Leonardo’s arrival had signalled the beginning of the bad times. To Leonardo, Hernando was angry, drunken man who couldn’t appreciate the loving family that he had around him. Leonardo was only eleven when his father left, but he was now the man of the house, and he took it upon himself to start bringing in money. For the past year, he had begun to spend more time with the other boys in the neighborhood, since the age and maturity gap between him and Benito had become a little much. The boys that Leonardo was spending his time with were other poor street kids like himself, and they’d developed a reputation for being a band of troublemakers. It wasn’t that hard for them to turn towards things a little more illegal, especially to make some money, so by the age of twelve, Leonardo had made a small name for himself by selling marijuana. The work wasn’t always safe, especially where they lived, but it brought in money.
Benito, only seven when his father left, wasn’t quite sure what to do, but he very quickly found his calling. It wasn’t all that hard, really. He discovered that if he went to the more wealthy side of town, many people didn’t lock their cars or back doors. It was all too easy for him to slip inside and fill his pockets with their expensive watches and jewelry. He was quite good at it, too, what with his small size. He could hide in spots that adult burglars could never, and he made a heavy profit from it. Soon enough, he grew more and more bold. He taught himself how to unlock a locked vehicle, using his neighbors beat-up lemon of a car for practice. From there, came stealing from stores. First, petty shoplifting. But, soon enough, Benito could walk out of a store with a bag filled and not a single employee wise to his crimes. Sure, every now and then he had close calls. He was eight years old the first time that someone caught him, but he was fast, and he easily made an escape by sliding down the flagpole next to the apartment building.
He was nine years old the first time that it wasn’t so easy to get away, but he’d surprised the man by giving him a swift kick to the bollocks. Grown adults were always surprised when children fought back. It was almost nothing for Benito to dash through the front door to escape from the foliage. There was a thrill in stealing, and a pride that Benito did not get from anything else. He often laid in bed at night, turning his wrist over so that he could examine whatever flashy and new watch he had stolen that day. It made him feel rich, which was ever so relieving since he was ever so poor.
It was actually during one of his little escapades when he noticed something very strange about himself. He was ten years old now, and he was in someone’s house. He had no shoes on, only his socks, because it made it easier for him to slip around unheard. He was being risky today, sneaking into a house while the owners were home, but he was confident that he could do it. He had just scampered onto their dining table, hands extending for the diamond coverings on their chandelier, when he accidentally knocked the vase on their table over with his foot. He swiveled around in alarm, lunging for it so that he could stop it from rolling off the edge, but he was too far. It rolled, rolled, and then began to tip over, and despite knowing he couldn’t stop it, he reached for it anyways. But then the most peculiar thing happened. Rather than falling off the table and loudly shattering all over the ground, it simply returned to its original, upright position. Benito thought he had imagined the whole thing, for he just couldn’t explain it. Not then, anyways.
He was eleven years old when a very strange man came to his house. He was tall, and he had a beard that seemed to go down forever. Not to mention, he looked very, very old. Perhaps the oldest man that Benito had ever seen. He would never forget the day when the man came to visit. He knocked on the door mid-morning. Benito was on the couch, in only his underwear and socks. He had a bowl of cereal in his lap and was trying to make out what was happening on their television, which was very cheap and only in black and white. Elena had answered the door, and when she came in with a strange expression on her face and told Benito that someone was at the door for him, his life changed forever.
It hadn’t been too hard for Benito to believe, not after the man demonstrated his strange powers. Turns out, the man had a strange name too. Albus Dumbledore. The surname sounded foreign and blocky on Benito’s lips. Albus Dumbledore, apparently, was the headmaster of a wizarding school. A wizarding school that they wanted him, Benito, to go to. He was shocked, and so was his family. After they got over their initial disbelief, they had a million questions to ask. Professor Dumbledore was patient, and he answered everything they had to ask. Benito felt embarrassed when his mother asked if the school cost any money, and then scared a second later. Would he be denied entry to this school simply because he was poor? Thankfully, Professor Dumbledore said they had a fund for helping underprivileged students. He said that Benito would have to get most of his things secondhand, but that was fine. Everything else he owned was, anyways.
And so, when summer rolled around, Benito and his family followed the directions left by Professor Dumbledore to travel to the wizarding village of Diagon Alley. It was hard to get there, since London was no easy drive from Belfast. Benito was half scared that the Professor Dumbledore wizard-man had been lying, and this was all just a scam! A clever, genius, well thought out scam, but a scam nonetheless. But, as it turns out, it was no scam. Diagon Alley was a real, live place and Benito and his family stared in awe at the sight of it. Annabel hurriedly made her way to the Leaky Cauldron to see if wizarding alcohol worked the same as muggle alcohol. (It worked better). Benito, however, set off on his own, wandering through each and every shop in search of his supplies.
Benito had just stepped into Ollivander’s Wand shop, when he saw her. She was about his size, though she looked a lot less out of place than he did. What on earth was everyone wearing? It was strange. Some people looked as wild as some of the strange figures that wandered the area of that one weird alleyway by his house! She got his wand first, and when he saw the sparks shoot from the end of it in a wonderful display of color, he couldn’t help but to exclaim in surprise. That had drawn her attention, and the two fell into conversation. He found out that her name was Imogen, and that she was also starting at Hogwarts in the fall. They didn’t talk long, but he felt good when he left the store, hardly taking the time to be surprised that he had warmed up so quickly. Once he had his wand, he was finished, and he headed to the bar to collect his extremely inebriated mother.
Now, all Benito had to do was wait.
September the First came quickly, and before he knew it, Benito found himself seated alone in a compartment on a train called The Hogwarts Express. He’d hoped to sit alone for the ride, but that seemed impossible. However, to his happy surprise, the face that popped into the compartment was one he recognized. It was the Imogen girl he’d met at Ollivanders! The two ended up sitting together, and when they arrived at Hogwarts, they were sorted into Hufflepuff as well.
Five years later, Benito is in the peak of his sixth year. His grades are alright, but he doesn’t really care about that. He had no intention of going into the Ministry of Magic, or really working at all in the Wizarding World. No, no, Benito Carlos Ortiz had bigger plans than that. After all, he was born to be blessed. No, Benito planned to use his magical powers and natural aptitude for sneaky things to live nice and breezy in the muggle world. And in the meantime, he would steal from his fellow wizards. After all, many of them didn’t respect him for who his parents were, so why should he show them the respect of allowing them to keep their belongings? The war is heating up around him, and Benito is more than ready to defend himself. But, he means to only defend himself. He had learned a long time ago that it was a dog-eat-dog world, and he knew better than to think the wizarding world was any different.
Benito Ortiz decided to not concern himself with the opinion of people that didn’t matter. He had Imogen, he had the Hufflepuffs, and he had his family. Nobody else mattered, and he wouldn’t lie and pretend that he thought they did. What he planned on doing was making as much money as he possibly could, in any means that he possibly could, and if he could, he’d try to find his dad along the way.
CONNECTIONS:
Imogen Connolly: His first friend and current girlfriend. Benito and Imogen have been together for what feels like forever, and there isn’t a single person on the planet that he feels more love for. He feels like they’re soulmates, and can’t imagine his life without her.
Katherine Bradbury: She’s new to the school, and she looks rich, so he’s got his eye on her. He doesn’t take her seriously, not really, and he finds it rather funny that she’s an American. But, he did hear a rumor about her ruining a debutante ball, so perhaps there is more to her than meets the eye.
Lucius Malfoy: Malfoy stands for everything that Benito detests, so he often tries to get on his nerves. But, more so than that, Benito has been stealing from him here and there for six years now. He has so much money that its almost easy.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
He’s a Sagittarius Sun, and an Aries Moon. Some quotes from this website that apply to Benito are, (1) “Even though you are smart and perceptive, your emotional growth lags behind your understanding.” (2) “A Sagittarius-Aries is fearless about speaking their mind and has been so since a young age. No other mixture personifies such blunt outspokenness. You have no inhibitions but have the courage to say precisely what you feel. You are active, capricious, and very independent. Everything is as you see it. It does not matter what others think, you are forthright and fearless.” (3) “You need be careful of that rather big ego of yours.”
Benito really likes the movie, “The Godfather”
Benito speaks Spanish, though not as well as he used to
Benito is really into sculpting, and astrology.
His class schedule is: Charms, Arithmancy, Divination, Potions, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts

lost boys, lost love
Final part of Leaving, Losing, Lost
Part 1 // Part 2 on Tumblr!
Part 1 // Part 2 on Ao3!
Read part 3 on ao3!
“No one will take him from me again,” Benny growls, hiding Ethan behind him with one hand. His seer goes easily, following Benny’s lead. They’re been wrapped up in each other pretty much since Ethan got back, beautiful entangled in a way that not even Benny’s grandmother has been able to separate. No one will ever separate them again. Ross and Samantha have been spelled (in a small, infinitesimal way) to consider the even-more-attached-than-before conditions normal, so they’re out of the way. Little Jane is unfortunately resistant to most spellings (likely because of her own training under Benny’s grandmother), but Ethan doesn’t want her spelled anyway. Something about being a protective older brother. Erica is hissing at him, but Benny doesn’t give two fucks.
“He’s a person, Benny! You don’t take people,” Sarah insists, her voice pulled tight with emotion. Benny doesn’t really give half a fuck about that either; there’s never been much love lost between him and Sarah - she was the first vampire to try and steal his Ethan.
“He’s mine, Sarah,” Benny says, a snide copy in tone of her pleas, a mockery that he feels no shame for. Ethan is holding onto his waist now, arms wrapped around Benny and anchoring him to this world; they both know how Benny can go off the rails now. Ever since Ethan was actually taken from him, he’s been having... lapses, as it were. This time, it’s a body torn to pieces for putting hands on what’s his. Worse over, the hands were that of a vampire, and they didn’t even want Ethan for beautiful, beautiful Ethan, but for his blood. As if they don’t know that there is so much more to want Ethan Morgan for.
“You can’t just kill every single person that fucking touches him, you crazy piece of shit!” Erica snarls, but Benny just raises an eyebrow, tilting his head to the side.
“Why not?” he asks, deadpan. The vampires have the audacity to look shocked, like his staked (pun intended) claim is something that they have any chance of contesting. Ethan kisses along the back of Benny’s shoulder blade through his shirt, thumbs running along Benny’s hips to keep him calm. Benny leans back against him, keeping himself ready for attack, but trusting in the wards that he keeps around himself and Ethan when he’s relaxing anyway.
He doesn’t take chances anymore.
“Bro,” Rory says, big eyes almost hopeless enough to make Benny feel something, but falling just a little short. There’s only one person he cares about, one person he needs to protect, one person that’s his, one person that can never leave him, one person that would never leave him by choice, one person that loves him, loves him, loves him. Ethan has staked his claim just as much as Benny has his, and Benny would rather walk through hell than let Ethan leave him behind.
He’s proven that much before.
“He’s mine, Rory. Nothing is going to change that,” Benny says, settling one of his hands over one of Ethan’s on Benny’s stomach. Ethan peaks his head up (which, quietly, makes Benny tense, but their friends are not a threat they’d be too easy to take out for them to count as a threat) to look around Benny and look at Rory.
“He’s right, you know. I’m his, and he’s mine. I don’t wanna go, Rory. You know that if I wanted to, I would,” Ethan says with conviction. At the idea of Ethan leaving, Benny’s heart constricts, but it’s fine. Ethan won’t leave him, and no one will take him, and everything will be fine.
“What, so you can’t have friends?” Erica asks derisively, raising an eyebrow. Benny can just barely see Ethan behind his shoulder, but he knows that seer is scowling.
“He kills a vampire that’s legitimately trying to steal my blood from my body and you want to say that’s him not letting me have friends? If you guys can’t deal him protecting me, then yeah, I guess that means I can’t have friends. Because I’m not going to ask him to stop. Benny’s done more for me than anyone else in this world, and I owe him more than my life. So, yeah, I’m going to let him protect me,” Ethan says. Benny brings Ethan around in front of him, pulling Ethan to rest his head against Benny’s chest. He can watch the vampires and hold his seer like this, comfortable and comforting, which is really the best of both worlds.
“You’re seriously going to be crazy about this, aren’t you? You’re just going to lose your fucking mind, and we’re supposed to be okay with it,” Sarah remarks, a look of bewilderment marring her pretty features. Benny flashes her a threatening smile.
“To be truthful, Sarah, it doesn’t really matter to me if you’re okay with it. You won’t have any luck stopping us, I’ll tell you that,” Benny replies. There’s nothing more to be gained from this conversation. He’s not going to change their minds and they’re certainly not going to change his; is it crazy? Is it crazy to want to protect Ethan? To want to keep what is his? To comfort and to care for, to do all of the things that everyone gets so excited about for marriage without ever expecting anything of Ethan except just the allowance for Benny to do as he will? And, in return, Ethan even wants to keep Benny close, to love him and to care for him in return, as if someone like Benny deserves any of that.
They leave the day they graduate.
Milan, Paris, London, Moscow, they choose a different city every morning when they wake up. Ethan starts working some at-home coding job while Benny sells magic, and they make it. They make it out of Whitechapel. They leave behind vampires and werewolves and death and the acrid taste in the back of Benny’s mouth every time he thinks about that little place in the woods where he watched the love of his life fall apart.
They make it out of Whitechapel.
And they never, ever come back.

Summary:  It was a day of completely no consequence. Small and tiny against the mass of the calendar; itty-bitty in the grand scheme of chronological order. It was no holiday nor commemoration. It was a Tuesday unlike any other Tuesday to have ever been invented, but to Benny Weir, grand amateur spellcaster and goof, it was the most important day of his life.

It was a day of completely no consequence.
It was the day he was going to confess to Ethan fucking Morgan. AKA the smartest guy in the whole world. AKA an angel disguised as a human. AKA the person that Benny has been pining over for three years.
In Freshman year, he was just figuring out that he was even into dudes-- he spent most of the year pondering if he liked Ethan as a friend or liked him like that . In Sophomore year, he fawned over Ethan and decided that there was no way the feeling was mutual, especially not with Sarah around. In Junior year, he started out thinking the same, but then-- then Sarah confessed to Erica, and she apparently didn’t like dudes, and Ethan seemed relieved, and he felt like maybe, just maybe, this was his chance. So Benny convinced himself to confess.
The days couldn’t have passed any quicker; he had set a date to confess right after he learned he had a speck of hope (a week ago). Then he blinked, and it was the morning of his confession.
He forced himself to confess before lunch.
That failed.
He forced himself to confess during his last period English class.
That failed.
English class had just been dismissed by the bell, there were no hours left in the school day now, Ethan was still oblivious, and Benny was freaking out. If he didn’t do it now, he knew for a fact he’d back out and hide in his feelings for the rest of his lonely life. He’d done that for two years already; he didn’t want to go back now. Not when he had an opportunity in front of him.
“B? You coming?” Ethan asked, hefting his shoulder bag over his body and ambling to the door. He was probably excited to go home and play the new update of Zombies: Brains, Brains, and More! Benny wished all of his troubles were a zombie apocalypse; that would be infinitesimally easier than what he was going through now.
“Uh-- I--” Benny half-responded, still sitting in his desk. His feet wouldn’t move.
“Benny?” Ethan asked, lifting up a worried smile. He paused momentarily on his journey to the exit.
“You-- I don’t--” Benny managed, pointing a hand to the door. He was shaking.
“Let me just grab my stuff out my locker and we can walk home together?” Ethan promised, walking back towards the door.
“Wait!” Benny yelled, regaining his footing finally, “E, wait.”
“Yeah?”
Benny held his pointing hand straighter, flailing for the right words. He couldn’t think of any Latin with this state of a frazzled mind, so he settled for a simple English spell. Under his breath, sweating with nerves, he muttered:
“ Fire deflection, passionate perfection, grant the door unyielding connection !”
“Did you say something?” Ethan asked. Luckily he didn’t have super-hearing to go with his seer abilities.
“Uh.”
“I’m going to get the nurse. B, you’re worrying me.”
Ethan tried for the door’s handle. He tried again. It gave no budge at all-- not even a sliver of movement in any direction. Benny hesitantly smiled; at least his spell had worked. That was the only thing working for him in the moment; everything else was disorganized mayhem. Just call him Dr. Homo Doom, because his teenage life was descending into a frenzy of unrequited love!
Ethan kicked the door. Immediately after, he scowled tightly and rubbed his foot.
“The door is jammed.”
“Yeah,” Benny nervously responded. Oh God, was he too obvious? Was his plan failing? Was Ethan onto him?
“Are you,” Ethan dithered, choosing his words carefully as he checked Benny up and down, “better now?”
“Yeah. Swell as an Orc in the Highlands of Manoria!”
Ethan tried to suppress a grin at the mention of their favorite fantasy MMORPG. They always made fun of the janky 3D mechanics together.
“Valiant Orc, I shall slay you with my enchanted Ice Protection III Sword of Elysia!”
“Oh heavens above, not the enchanted Ice Protection III Sword of Elysia!” Benny yelled, clutching his chest. He made a pained ‘gh’ sound and collapsed onto his desk, twitching dramatically and trying to hide his giggles.
“Didn’t a new mob just get released?”
“Bro, yes, ah-- spear goblins, I think. Definitely OP. I wanted to play during last class but stupid Ms. Wallon won’t let us bring our phones in the room.”
“Some of us are trying to learn,” Ethan teased, smiling with his eyes, and god did that make Benny’s heart clench .
“And some of us are trying to learn strategy techs for the new meta!” Benny quickly responded. He regarded competitive gaming very seriously.
Ethan sighed. Although he, too, was heavily invested in gaming, he preferred singular player free roaming modes, or, at the very most, campaign modes. Competitive and ranked games gave him too much anxiety. He loved to watch Benny play rankings and rage at smurfs, though.
“Anyway, we should head home. We can play ZBBM?” Ethan pointedly looked at the door, “Can you, uh, do your thing?” He wiggled his fingers, and Benny snorted.
“That’s the issue. See,” he took a deep breath (it was now or never!), “I’ve been wanting to tell you something really kinda important.”
“Okay?” Ethan answered, and that confirmation sent Benny spiraling. This was really, really happening. It wasn’t just in his imagination anymore.
Benny’s breathing quickened, and he briefly considered backing out. Ethan certainly didn’t feel the same way. If he confessed now, he’d lose his best friend. Benny gulped and backtracked.
“Eh, I just--”
And then the door started hissing. And shaking. And glowing.
Ethan gasped. Benny cursed.
“Shit, Grandma always told me English spells were more tricky,” Benny muttered. He flexed his fingers. Something wasn’t right-- he may not be the most proficient spellcaster, but a simple spell like that certainly shouldn’t cause the door to rumble like a giant was full-throttle rattling it.
English spells often had a looser sense of interpretation; something about the translation from the original latin being lost in the magic altered them. He had pronounced the spell with all of the right intentions, but--
But the door was still shaking like an earthquake.
Benny blanched.
“Water pyre, built from needs dire, extinguish this door’s mental fire!”
Nothing.
“Succulent wind, in which all, uh, things end, to my cause a hand you should lend!”
Zero effect.
“Powers from earth, strengthened by girth, to a peaceful door you should give birth!”
Still, no response.
Ethan looked to Benny with wide deer eyes. He had the pinched inner brow expression that meant only one thing: he had been thinking through a problem, and reached a conclusion.
“Did you spell the door earlier?” He accused.
“Uh, heh… the thing is--”
“Benny!” Ethan whined, fretting a hand through his hair.
“I know, I know, I’m trying to find a reversal spell.”
“Because that’s going so smoothly,” Ethan snarked, then paled, “Sorry. I’m just-- agh, I don’t know what’s going on.”
Benny nodded. He didn’t either.
To be fair, he didn’t deserve all the blame. He’d only glanced over the spell once in a decades-old book with more dust than ink-- and then amateurly attempted it. At least it wasn’t a reanimated animal this time.
He could handle a door. Right?
“Let’s just calm down and think about this rationally,” Ethan suggested. He pulled out a chair and sat next to Benny.
Somehow, just Ethan’s very presence soothed Benny’s worries. When Ethan was near him, it was similar to a feeling of… indestructibility. Like nothing could stop them. Benny didn’t know how to feel about that.
Ethan smiled worriedly, always trying to stay lucid in tough situations, and Benny smiled in response. With Ethan by his side, he had no doubt that they could fix this.
“What spell did you use?”
“Well… uh… fire something, made the door lock.”
“Which spell, though?”
Benny grimaced.
“E, you know I have less than one brain cell. I don’t remember. It was pretty simple, though.”
“...Okay.” Ethan sighed, “Then why did you lock it?”
“Oh.” Benny sucked in a breath and froze.
“B?” Ethan asked, scooting closer.
“I-- I wanted to talk.” Benny settled on. Hopefully that was vague enough.
His hands were shaking, so Ethan settled put a hand on his shoulder.
“We can talk. Are you alright?”
“I’m fine, just-- nervous,” Benny replied, uncharacteristically grave.
And suddenly the door stilled.
It was clattering viciously, intent on nearly breaking, until it abruptly suspended all movement. It was… quiet. The room seemed to shrink without the raucous noise. Benny and Ethan both stared at the quasi-normal door. There was not even a hint of a glow anymore; no sign of any previous activity.
Benny was the first to crush the silence.
“What… happened?”
“Touch my arm.”
Benny shrilly laughed. It seemed too ironic to be true. Ethan asking for physical contact? At a time like this? Right after Benny had chickened out from his confession? He couldn’t tell if it was bad or good luck, but fate was certainly poking fun at him. There was an irregular bit of hope stirring in the pit of his chest.
“Wha-- Why?” Benny choked out, chuckling.
“Vision,” Ethan said impatiently, holding out his hand.
Oh.
A vision. Not because he actually wanted to touch Benny or anything. Okay. Benny shrugged and touched Ethan’s hand hesitantly. Not that he was paying attention, but it was quite warm.
Benny was snapped out of it when Ethan shook his head.
“Nothing happened,” he frowned. He took back his arm and pursed his lips.
“Okay,” Benny simply responded.
“At least the door’s stopped, though. Maybe it opened?” Ethan got up to check. He paused before wrapping a hand around the handle, taking a deep breath.
He shook it, and the handle didn’t move.
Benny couldn’t help but chuckle deprecatingly. Oh, how the tables had turned on him. He had trapped himself in a room with the boy he was infatuated with, stuck in a crappy school building past dismissal time. It seemed destiny was pulling his leg, and he had no choice in the matter.
Ethan raised an eyebrow at the laughing.
“Nothing,” Benny quickly assured, “Just… We couldn’t even get stuck in a cool classroom like biology.”
“And we don’t have our phones,” Ethan noted, his eyebrows furrowed in thought, “No possible way of contacting others.”
Benny nodded. He didn’t know what to tag on; it was his fault they were stuck, anyway. He didn’t want to worsen it and make Ethan despise him even more .
“I… just give me a minute to think about the situation,” stressed Ethan. Benny nodded again.
Ethan sat back down and tapped his fingers on his desk. A minute passed. Benny watched him think, so lost in thought that he didn’t even notice Benny’s stares. A few more minutes passed, and the crease in Ethan’s brows was only deepening. Benny wanted to help him so badly, but he’d already messed everything up. Not only did his confession go haywire, but he botched a simple spell and trapped Ethan.
He had never regretted a spell more. Not even when he had accidentally hexed Erica’s hair green and she threatened to sacrifice him to the council for weeks. Not even when he spelled Mr. G to give him an A, and his grandma found out. Not even when he tried magicking some of Sarah’s fake blood to taste like soda and tasted it himself. Nothing could be worse than this-- this cacophony of confusion and guilt. God, he really shouldn’t dwell in his thoughts, but he couldn’t help it. Ethan looked so utterly pensive, and Benny just knew that he was the root cause of it.
His worst fears were being realized, and he didn’t have a clue about how to amend it. His relationship with Ethan was the most important thing in his life, and like everything else he touched, he ruined it.
By this time, they would have both been beyond home, probably settling in for dinner and video games.
Benny waited for Ethan to say something-- anything-- because the silence was nearly killing him, but he didn’t. Ethan just kept tapping his fingers. The desk reverberated back at him. Benny was out of the loop.
Time streamed by them fruitlessly; it stole the light from the windows and the confidence that they had. It was on a different, faster river; Benny was left to run after it.
Eventually, Ethan sighed and broke away from his thoughtful silence. He grabbed a water bottle out of his nearby bag and drank from it. He paused and held it out to Benny as an afterthought.
“You thirsty?”
In more ways than one.
Benny nodded, and snatched the bottle from Ethan’s loose grip. He chugged it, small rivulets of water catching his cheek and strolling down. He pulled away after a second and grinned, garbling through a mouth full of water.
“Imdirect kiff.”
Ethan flushed red. His ears turned a rosy shade, and he tugged some hair forward to cover them.
“Huh?” He asked, voice airy with an odd mixture of confusion and hope.
Benny didn’t reply. He was too busy gulping back the water and despairing in self-negative thoughts. He had no clue why he had done that.
Ethan was still staring at him.
Benny looked away, willing his cheeks to stop burning. They didn’t comply. And hindsight was truly a bitch. He refused to meet Ethan’s inquisitive gaze; he stared at the floor and picked at his short nails instead. Somehow, among this entire mess, he had managed to do something completely ridiculous and irrational again . In his peripheral vision, he saw Ethan twine his fingers together tightly, to the point of whiteness (one of his nervous tics). Benny’s heart stuttered.
Neither of them moved or made a sound for several minutes. There was only the combined noise of their breathing: Benny’s stilted and Ethan’s indecisively heavy.
God, nothing had ever been this awkward between them. It was so unusual-- so innately deafening for Benny to not be completely comfortable around Ethan. He was abruptly dunked in a pit of ice water, and he was left to flail in the bitterness. He was so accustomed to the warmth, and a fire was near, but-- he hadn’t the courage to pursue it. So he was silent.
It took everything in his limited willpower to not crack open a half-assed joke about being about as straight as 2 radians (because that was equal to a circle, and Ethan would love a math reference) but he didn’t. He couldn’t let himself ruin their relationship even further. Well-- if they still had a relationship and Ethan didn’t completely despise him by this point.
But then the object of his worries spoke.
“Unless… it didn’t have to be indirect?” Ethan’s voice wavered, pitchy and breaking on every other word, but Benny had never heard anything so beautiful .
Benny sputtered for a second, then managed to choke out a few words.
“Not indirect-- wait, what--”
He didn’t have the chance to finish, because Ethan was promptly burrowing under his desk and tucking his limbs away from view, husking himself into a neat shell. When he wanted to be, he could be very flexible. His shoulders folded between his knees, his head ducked into his chest, and his feet slipped underneath his body. He was nearly cornered into a fetal position, if it weren’t for the tremor in his chest and wild, watering eyes. Benny was all too familiar with these symptoms; Ethan was extremely anxious.
“E, it’s okay,” Benny soothed, forgetting all of his stressors in lieu of seeing his best friend hurting. That possessed the utmost priority.
Ethan didn’t respond, so Benny took a little step forward and continued to talk.
“I promise everything’s fine.”
“Just-- Just forget I said anything,” Ethan pleaded, lifting his head just enough to meet Benny’s eyes.
Benny didn’t know quite how to respond to that. How could he simply forget the most suggestive thing his crush has said to him in the history of their friendship? That moment was already ingrained into his memory, and he doubted it would ever leave. But instead of telling Ethan that, he simply extended a hand.
Ethan paused and took a couple of deep breaths, steadying himself. He took the hand, and Benny gently hauled him up. And then, in the same motion, pulled Ethan into his chest.
“Wh--” Ethan began to squeak, but was quickly muffled by Benny’s classically striped shirt. He relaxed into the hug after a few awkward moments, tentatively wrapping his arms around Benny in reciprocation.
They had hugged before, sure, but it was never truly intimate. Usually it was a quick pull and release, or a light half-hug in pictures. They friendship was never very physically close; that was largely a result of the stigmatic culture that they grew up in. Besides, playing video games together was much more fun than have tickle-fights. This time, though, this hug was different-- it was a mental connection as well as physical.
Benny sighed into the hug; it was such a simple gesture, but it seemed that all of his chaotic fretting was vanquished as soon as he was pressed against Ethan. The naturally subduing aura of Ethan was only amplified through physical contact.
Idly, he noticed that more than a few seconds had passed. Was this too long of a hug? Was he making this awkward? Benny grimaced and pulled back, suddenly feeling bad, but--
Ethan didn’t let him get far at all, tugging him back into the hug with a strength neither of them knew he possessed.
“Stay,” mumbled Ethan.
“Okay.” Benny surprisedly breathed out in response. The things he would do for this boy .
“I’m sorry,” said Ethan, ever-apologetic, and Benny couldn’t help but shaking his head against Ethan’s hair.
“Don’t be sorry. I-- uh-- I wanted to talk to you about-- stuff. Actually.”
“Stuff?”
“Yeah.”
Benny failed to elaborate. Ethan lifted his head just enough to stare Benny directly in his eyes, maintaining fierce eye contact. He wasn’t joking around.
“Stuff?” Ethan repeated. He raised a hand, almost as if he were to tuck back the hair falling in front of Benny’s eyes, but then changed his mind and dropped it.
Benny averted his eyes, opting to stare at the door. The moment was finally here. Ethan was asking him so directly, so intently that he couldn’t bring himself to lie. It was actually happening; he was going to confess his undying love for Ethan Morgan. Where he had been previously anxious, Ethan’s “indirect” comment was fueling him. He was on top of the world with adrenaline.
“Uh, well, there aren’t any cherry blossoms falling around us like, uh, all successful anime confessions go, but-- but yeah. So basically I’m in lo-- I love you.” Benny nervously chuckled. He studied Ethan’s face very closely, noting all of the emotions that cycled through it: first confusion, then surprise, then contemplation, a bit of sadness, and then contentedness. Or what Benny hoped was some form of contentedness. Ethan’s face settled on that last emotion, holding it for a time akin to forever; neither of them moved in fear of… so many things. The unknown, rejection, loss of each other-- But it didn’t happen.
After several long moments, Ethan’s thin smile cracked into a wide grin.
“I love you too, dork.”
“So…” Benny prompted, lopsidedly grinning just as wide as Ethan now.
Ethan quirked his brows as a silent question.
“Maybe we could get started on making it not indirect--”
And then the door shuddered, trembled, and rounded it all off with a clicking noise. It wasn’t glowing or moaning anymore, just… still.
Ethan, who had been curled against Benny’s chest, pulled away and hesitantly stepped toward the door. He watched it carefully for a few seconds, before deciding something in his head and walking up to it. Benny almost called out to him, was on the verge of warning him to not mess with fickle magic or he might get hurt, but Ethan had his hand wrapped around the handle before he could. With a subtle but effective flick of the wrist, he turned the knob, and the door… opened. It hinged into the classroom, revealing the empty hallways behind it, inanimate and soundless as ever. It was so normal .
The next thing Benny registered, Ethan was doubled over laughing.
“E…?” He asked, confused beyond belief.
“I-- It--” Ethan laughed.
“What’s so funny?” Benny didn’t understand at all.
“I had a hunch. It-- Your spell was fire-based, right? Fire is connected to passion, and draws power from intensity and enthusiasm. When you cast it, it… Latched onto your conflicted feelings, and created a warped version of a piecewise equation.”
“E, I don’t get how algebra messed up my magic.”
“Imagine it like this: if you still had unexpressed feelings, the door would be shut, and if you had expressed feelings, the door would open.”
“Bruh,” Benny said, at a loss for words. His magic spell had held him hostage in an attempt to get him to disclose his crush? Shit. He would have to ask his Grandma about that later (if she didn’t kill him for his stunt in the first place). Magic backfiring against him was a lot more worrisome than him merely messing up a spell (which he had assumed he had done).
“It’s okay,” Ethan assured him, “It’s all better now. Just… be careful with your powers, okay?”
“Thanks, Mom,” Benny bit back without any real anger. He was more upset with himself for letting this happen.
“B,” called Ethan affectionately, “Come on. Let’s go home, play some new meta, and forget this ever happened.”
Benny looked up from his inner turmoil like a possum caught in headlights.
“Forget… all of it?” Benny asked.
“No. Not all of it. Forget your worries.”
“Hakuna matata,” Benny weakly responded.
“Forget the feeling that you’d ever have to be scared of me,” Ethan clarified. He stepped away from the unlocked door and returned to Benny’s side. He held a hand up and finally brushed that piece of hair out of Benny’s face-- this time, without any hesitancy.
“I--” Benny started, but then Ethan was getting closer, so close, and--
Well, with the way that their lips connected like two halves forming a whole, and the way Ethan’s arms slid seamlessly behind Benny’s neck, and the way time slowed for their benefit--
There was no way it was indirect.
