i feel like eiza as jon would be the only way for me to be happy to see jon end up on the iron throne (or whatever smoldering rubble is left of it)

I really love the thought of lady Jon Snow, and her being not white would add a different layer to her outsider feelings in her family.

That said oh man I love Jon Snow but I DON'T WANT HIM ON THE IRON THRONE. Or any throne! I genuinely don't think he's a good ruler and he doesn't even wanna do it, like...I still only really consider the books canon, where Jon is dead, so I don't even really think he's a contender for the Iron Throne--even if GRRM were to bring him back to life in some way, it wouldn't be an as uncomplicated as it was in the show. Everyone resurrected in ASOIAF always comes back kinda wrong on some level. 

Imo, they should burn down the Iron Throne and all the seven kingdoms can be independent allies, and maybe they can bring democracy but that's just me

so i had too many thoughts on your post about allison/luther to fit into a reply and i didn't want to reblog it because i wasn't sure if it was okay and didn't want to send a bunch of hateful anons your way so i'm gonna send a mini-novel in asks instead so apologies in advance (1/3)

in addition to the racism (which is definitely a factor) i think a lot of people take issue with how it’s portrayed? like cersei/jaime and cesare/lucrezia, for example, are definitely portrayed in universe as a bad thing and indicative that the characters are bad people (or at least hella flawed). i’ve seen a lot of ppl complain that the show portrays incest positively and that that’s bad and wrong but i really don’t think it does? like luther & allison are clearly doing this out of trauma (2/3)

basically if people wanna come for the creators for glamorizing incest they also have to come for them for glamorizing murder and ending the literal world cause your family was shitty to you. it’s just a very surface level interpretation of the whole thing (not saying people aren’t allowed to be uncomfy or not like it but the show doesn’t glamorize it imo). the last contributing factor, i think, is that lots AND LOTS of fans hate luther. so of course he’s gonna be the bad guy in their eyes (3/3)

It’s okay! This is fine. 

I think that it’s idealized only in the sense that Allison and Luther idealize each other and place the other on a pedestal? Like this is where I think people get lost in the forest of depiction =/= endorsement and presenting something through a character’s eyes because that’s what the show was doing, imo? We saw that dynamic the way Allison saw it aka “I’ve compared every man I’ve ever met to you” and Luther’s endless pining, and the way their other siblings normalized it because compared to the abuse they all endured, a crush/flirtation that makes them happy is less harmful than what they experience every day. 

Like the ultimate message of the show is that they’re all so fucked up and nothing in their lives are normal, but maybe now the man is dead, they can actually be a family and come together in solidarity, no matter what they looks like.

☕️ social media has bred (or at least contributed to) a really unhealthy fan culture where if you don't spend all your money to meet/see your faves as often as possible or they don't "notice" you on social media you're not a real fan/having a good experience enjoying someone's work.

@benjaminshargreeves you are so right. Personally I’ve never had a need to meet my faves but yeah, it’s an unhealthy thing and puts too much pressure on everyone involved.

fuck i forgot justified on my list

I HAD SUCH A HARD TIME BECAUSE I’M SURE I’M LEAVING SHOWS OUT I LOVE asfasdfa I left out like, Haunting of Hill House, because it’s too new, I left out like, Veronica Mars because I’ve never seen the third season, Breaking Bad I think it’s a well done show that was good the whole five seasons but it’s also not a show I feel that fannish for, so is it REALLY a fave? So jakslfasfda I included Justified because my affection for it waned over time, but I never started actively disliking it like I have with other shows and it’s one of the most satisfying series finales I’ve ever seen.

ohhhhh there are a few of these that I also once loved so much and which then went...decidedly off the rails...but seeing the gifs still makes me emotional, you know? they stick in your heart, sometimes in spite of it all

Oh, I am curious about which ones? (you don’t have to reply here if you don’t want to). I almost included TVD on this list because when I loved it, I really LOVED it, same with Supernatural, but I’ve fallen so heavily out of love with that I’ve swung into actively dislike. 

Shows like Teen Wolf and Dexter, I’ve fallen out of love with...but I recently rewatched the first season of Teen Wolf, and I’m just, attacked with all the feels, so it’s definitely a show that is still in my heart despite all of it’s flaws. Same with Dexter--rewatched s7 recently and there’s a lot of choices I DO NOT LIKE but it’s still a show that’s almost perfectly made me for me in a lot of ways?

since you asked for asks talking to you about whatever: group projects are the actual worst and idgaf what excuses professors try to make up for forcing us to do them they're garbage and i'm gonna murder all my group mates and then none of us will get a good grade or learn about team work cause they'll all be dead and i'll be in prison. or, to be a little less dramatic and more realistic: i can't believe i'm gonna do all the work and these assholes are gonna get a good grade because of it.

Don’t feel bad about being dramatic. Group work…is like that. Jobs can be like that too. If I were an alien I would not come to visit this planet. Honestly, good luck and you may want to complain to the prof before things get too bad.
