Who do you ship denmark with? If anyone?
I don't really have a specific go-to ship for him, but I like seeing exploration of his relationship with nations that aren't Norway ✨
I think he'd be very close to the BeNeLux siblings, and both Nethlands and Belgium can be good ship options for him in my opinion.
Ireland is also an option ofc, but then leaning more towards a nyo!Ireland for Denmark. He does strike me as the token straight brother of the Scandis 😅

Any chance you’ll give us one or two examples of what [Redacted]’s name is NOT going to be? :)
Thanks so much for the anon ask! I did NOT expect so many people to happily oblige my capricious request! 🩷
So a couple of lovely but rejected previous guesses from readers include David (my brother's name, so absolutely not lol) and Floriaan (a beautiful and unique name from the Benelux region which was suggested by someone on Ao3. Also no. But who knows, maybe in a far-off sequel I'll introduce his long-lost brother and use it for him...).😂
Bonus fun fact: When drafting or making notes, to make it easier on myself, I sometimes refer to him by the nicknames Ace or Lucky (there are reasons for this, too, but that's a story for another day). I sometimes use his real name, too, but I prefer to use nicknames because I'm paranoid that I'll forget to take it out and it will slip into the text by accident. 😅 (So if any of THOSE ever accidentally slip in, you'll know why ...) I suppose there's no reason why I couldn't start using them on Tumblr, too, but I suspect that will just make things more confusing than they already are ...
Previously, I've revealed that his name is quite rare, of Hebrew origin, and was chosen for both sound and meaning. I'll use this opportunity to add another small hint which may or may not be useful: One, possibly two, other characters (ones we've met) know what it is.

We all know spain and austria were married for the longest time, could you talk about it
Just short of 200 years! And yet I don't know if I can say they actually spent much time together. King Charles V split it off because it was just too much for one man to get to grips on, so if they were one household it was for... I don't know how to define it actually. Either 1506 if you go with a Habsburg becoming King of Spain or 1519 where politically the HRE, Austria, BeNeLux and Spain all united. Personal or political union, usual story... Point is, it politically split in 1522 (when Charles ceased to be Archduke of Austria and gave it to his brother), or 1556 (where he gave up Holy Roman Emperor and gave it to his brother), or... I don't know. It's complicated. So, if you're going by that metric definition of marriage, they at worst didn't even manage five years. If you're going by the name and name alone, then yeah, you've got 200 years together.
I think we know in canon Antonio's household was BeNeLux, Romano and I assume where relevant Portugal. Austria had HRE, Czechia/Bohemia and Slovakia, Hungary and Veneziano, amongst others. I think it's important to remember that the "Let others wage war, but thou, O happy Austria, marry; for those kingdoms which Mars gives to others, Venus gives to thee" quote refers not just to the intermarriages with Spain, but also Bohemia, Hungary plus the pressures on Poland and France. Also Austria did absolute buckets of fighting at this time.
Austria is literally designed to be a wall. That mid point in Europe no-one east can cross. I think therefore his attentions were always elsewhere. In the same vein, Antonio was equally focused elsewhere. Roderich can complain 'I won't tolerate bigamy' but bruh. Bruh. I guess it depends where Erzsi is that day. Mayhaps bigamy is a nono but open marriage is fine. Who knows. The idea of them only actually being one household for like four years but being tangled in this awful mess of a family for 200 is very funny to me. You really can't find more diametrically opposed characters.
Completely off topic ramble under the cut
If people ever want some not English period dramas to watch then going from Maximilian for why the Habsburgs ended up in BeNeLux (including the most upsetting depiction of what happened to Mary of Burgundy in that yes she fell from her horse and had her spine crushed and took days for her to die and what am I supposed to feel with her final lines being 'life is not our own we simply borrow it' and telling her husband 'live a little longer then you will follow me' like siocbfdgfszxvcbngfsxcv okay) and then from there watch the Spanish Isabel, The Broken Crown, and then Carlos, rey emperador for the merger and splintering of the Spanish and Austrian territories. You can keep going actually... including the fantasy time travel El ministerio del tiempo which honestly 10 out 10 insanity if you want to hop across Spanish history yes including exactly what you would expect from the World War Two episodes and an episode where Phillip II decides to become King of the World following the defeat of the Armada honestly it's great it's dumb it's doctor who minus aliens. Spain has done so many period dramas it's honestly great. Margaret of Austria wishes she was this pretty (sorry that's mean it's not like she had any choice in the matter in what was happening to the genes of her family).

Sketch of APH Benelux as Fréminet (Netherlands), Lynette (Belgium) and Lyney (Luxembourg) from Genshin Impact.
"Welcome to the magic show of Belgium and Luxembourg!"
In direct contrast to her older brother, who refers to himself as "the greatest magician in all Teyvat", Lynette might possibly be the lowest-profile Magician's Assistant in the land.

Is Ukraine supposed to be Russia and Ukraine's little brother that they abuse or?
It's just a kinda funny choice to me to describe the relationship between Ukraine and Russia/Belarus as brotherly. Especially in late 2024.
Also, the lack of certain other country groups seems kinda odd. Benelux, for instance.

No. 11 - 2011
Character: Belgium (Uniform version) Series: Hetalia: Axis Powers by Himaruya Hidekazu
Photog Credits: - Papa-NOT-zzi - Someone from our Meetup at Mizu
==========
Quickly after finishing Belgium's conference dress I found out that the Benelux Union was being personified as siblings in Hetalia, with Netherlands being Belgium's big brother. I have a younger brother, but he's so tall that I begged him to be my Netherlands and made our uniforms! This would be the 2nd or maybe 3rd costume I made for my brother. 🤭 He gets roped into my madness quite a bit.
==========
The pattern for the uniform's top is a KIWK-SEW 3534. It wasn't much modified. I did have to add cuffs to the sleeves and quite honestly, I love them! I used Kahki broadcloth. I already owned the pants, but the "suspenders" are made of black cotton and just pinned to the pants.
The tie, along with the headband, are made from green broadcloth. The headband was made the same way I made the previous one!
Black gloves we already had. 😉
For my brother, the wig is a Punky S wig (in Color 24) heavily trimmed and styled by me. I actually knitted the scarf myself. For those curious, I used two 29" circulars to knit it vertically (it's height is 7 ft [294 stitches] as he's 6'3"). I used Vanna's Choice colonial blue (109) and white (100). Each stripe is 8 stitches wide and garter stitched.
His under-shirt is a simple tank top made of navy blue cotton. The pattern for the uniform's top is a KIWK-SEW 3534. It's made of kahki broadcloth. The blue cuff designs are appliqué with the same material as the shirt. Last but not least, the side pouch! That was made from white pleather and, being a box, a made-up pattern.

Belgium: Cost: $50 Time: 26 hrs

What's a non-trauma thought that keeps you up at night?
. . .I find it. . . cute? I guess? Cute that you felt the need to specify "non-trauma."
Um, probably that every single country is probably related? So, if we start with me:
Liet and Eesti are not my brothers by blood. We're more like close cousins of something. However, Eesti and I were both brothers with Livonia. Eesti would tie me to Finn, which ties to Norway, which ties to all the other Nordics. But being tied to the Nordics (which I already was tied to through Courland, actually, but-) it includes Denmark, which then includes a distant relation to Germany.
Pause there! I swear I'm going somewhere with this!
With Liet, we were both brothers with Samogitia and Selonia! And Liet and Teutonics were related in one way or another to REAL PRUSSIA Balt Prussia, and Teutonics means being tied to. . . Germany again. And from there it's all of Benelux, which ties to France through Belgium, which ties to all the Romance countries, and South Italy and Spain have relations to Morocco, which then keeps extending-
And going back to Romance, that includes Romania, who is related to Moldova, who is also related to Ukraine, who is related to Bela, and they both are cousins with Liet, I think? Any relation that is not direct siblings, I call cousins, since that seems like the safest bet. It's mostly just following borders, but it gets even more entangled when you look at historical ties and "marriages". Those are just the ones heading north and west!
I don't even need a corkboard with conspiracy strings because I have it all mapped out in my head, wide and ever-expanding. Draw a circle, that's our family tree! How many of its limbs have rotted off through the years? How many leaves are shriveling, waiting to fall, and how many more shall bloom? When will this tree get chopped down and burned for firewood in the cold end of-
. . . Eheh. Yeah. It, um, keeps me up a lot.
Also thinking about the social dynamics of cows and the mathematic patterns found in nature, like how crazy the Fibonacci sequence is, but those, um, those are. . . less intricate thoughts. More emotional excitement.
And to be clear, while we are all family (I think), we are also all our own separate people! I am not about to go around advocating the old "One Big Family" propaganda. I think we should use it to all feel more connected to each other and have more empathy, but never to erase individuality or autonomy. A happy balance, you know? Does any of this make sense?
Maybe I should make some chamomile. . .

─ 963 AD ─
They had found him wandering around the forests of the Ardennes.
“It’s alright,” Belgium spoke softly. “Don’t be afraid.”
The tiny nation regarded them with big blue eyes that peaked around the bark of an ancient oak tree. Its roots thick and sprawling, forming a natural barrier between them.
Belgium had felt him coming into existence first and immediately set out to find him. Her brother had followed along dutifully and by the time they had stepped across the threshold of the old forest he had told his sister that he could feel it too. That warmth all of them sensed when a new addition was born into the world close to their borders.
“We are like you,” Belgium knelt down into the mossy underground, making herself smaller to show she was not a threat.
Netherlands did the same. “And you are like us,” he added.
The little boy regarded them with both wonder and trepidation, his blue eyes flitting from one face to the other and back.
Belgium held out her arms. “Come, little one. We will take care of you now,” her smile was warm and welcoming. “You are not alone.”
The sob filled the stillness in the air and Belgium’s heart ached at the obvious relief that crossed his young, chubby face. In those few days it had taken her and Netherlands to find him, the world must have looked like a very dark and scary place.
In his hurry to reach them, the little nation’s feet caught on one of the roots of the oak tree and he wobbled dangerously on his short legs.
Quick as a flash, Belgium dove forward, her arms still outstretched, and caught him just in time.
“Got you,” she exhaled with a small laugh as she adjusted his weight so he was sat in her lap.
He looked up at her, his lip trembling, and before either Belgium or Netherlands could react, he was crying.
“Oh no, don’t cry,” Belgium hushed, cradling him close to her chest, her cheek atop his sandy blonde hair. “It’s okay, baby, it’s okay.”
“What’s wrong?” Netherlands was back on his feet, hovering over them both.
Belgium found his worried green eyes, so similar to her own. “Maybe he hurt his foot,” she looked the limb over and carefully rubbed her thumb over the tiny dirt-stained toes but couldn’t find any injury. “Hmm,” she shook her head. “No,” she realized. “I think he was just scared. Poor thing.”
She lightly started rocking back and forth in an attempt to soothe the little nation’s anguish. The initial sobs were quickly replaced by soft hiccups when she started humming a song she remembered Mama Gaul singing to her, a long long time ago.
Belgium heard Netherlands flopping down on the ground behind her and his dangly pre-teen legs came to lay on either side of her. His chin rested atop her shoulder and his arms enveloped both her and the little nation in her lap, her back pressed against his chest.
“Hush now,” Netherlands gently wiped away the wetness on his cheeks. “What’s your name, little one?”
He was still so young that his speech wasn’t very practiced yet, but the small nation managed to mumble out, “Luxenbuwg,” in between small sniffles.
Belgium felt her brother’s amused snort vibrate through her shoulder and she couldn’t help her own smile from growing wider and her heart from growing bigger.
She stopped humming and kissed the tip of his button nose. “I am Belgium and this is Netherlands,” she lightly lifted the shoulder her brother’s head was still resting on. “We’ll be your family from now on.”
Netherlands ruffled the toddler’s hair, earning him a wet giggle in return, before wrapping his two siblings back up into their earlier embrace.
“Welcome to the world, Luxembourg.”

WAY TO GO BELGIUM!!!! 👍
Belgium- Thank you but I'm starting to wonder if I did the right thing? I definitely don't regret telling them, I mean I had to tell them at some point but maybe I should have waited a bit longer or found some other way. I just feel so guilty about making Ned angry, putting Romano in danger and shocking Lux. I'm really thankful to Spain and Portugal, I don't know what I would do without them.

BENELUX trio as the House of the Hearth siblings of Genshin Impact
Benelux siblings from Hetalia, as the House of the Hearth siblings (Freminet, Lynette and Lyney) from Genshin Impact.
Despite being Lyney and Freminet the oldest and youngest brothers, I swapped their roles to Luxembourg and the Netherlands, as Luxembourg couldn´t be a good diver, and Netherlands could had suffered pressure to be a charm and good magician
