Ink Demon's Eve and Bendy News Incoming!

Good afternoon folks, hope you're having a marvelous Monday! So today is exciting for Bendy fans, we have not one but TWO things coming our way this Halloween season!

We're getting a Halloween overlay update for the PC version of BATDR and BATIM from October 24th to the 31st! And on the 31st itself, we're going to hear who the director is the for the Bendy Movie! No I did not misspeak, Dark Revival AND Ink Machine are getting Ink Demon's Eve content. And we know this because there are new steam achievements tied to this event for both games. I won't tell you what they are in this post for the sake of not spoiling it, but I also don't want anyone to miss it that potentially wants to play it. I don't know if this will be the same as Winter Abyss where changing your computer dates will let you play it again later. So on the chance it isn't, now you know this is happening!

Now I can say that I made 10 prompts. Nice. Nothing much to say about this one. It's just the Ink Demon. Simple. I didn't really know how to do this one. I had some ideas, but I ended up settling on the one above.

September ends today. Or it's already over for some. It's still Day 30 for me as I'm posting this, so it still counts. Normally I end my participation here. As far as I remember, there is no rule that says I can do more prompts and post them in the tag beyond September, but I always considered August-September to be The™ timeframe of the Ink Demonth and I always scheduled my departure from the event when September ends. I considered posting prompts in October but that never actually happened. At least,until now, I think.

I was thinking about getting just 4 more prompts to do and post in October. Then I make my exit. My plan before the end of September was to reach 14 days. 2 weeks you know. And I'm almost there, so why stop? (Besides, to be honest, I don't want the drawing above to be my last one for this year's event, you know) They'll be simpler prompts (I think) to do, so I don't think they'll take too long. I hope.

I'll admit that now some of my steam for this event has kind of gone away for a few days now (especially while I've been doing other IRL things) but yeah let's do this. Let's try to do that, shall we?

I have decided that Tumblr Sexyperson HQ is a physical building. Here's some crap I made up about it

Because Sans and Cecil both won tournaments they are now presidents of the HQ, below them is the Sexyman Council (Onceler, Warden, Tony, Bill, Black Hat, Alastor

Members get free therapy because most of them need it, also sometimes they Google themselves and are traumatised

Because of how many members are scientists there's a lab area where they can do experiments and talk nerd shit, some members that use this floor are: Dr Eggman, Jimbotnik, Dr Doofenshmirtz and Flurg

There's also clown and skeleton hang out areas because of how many there are, the skeleton area was designed by Jack Skellington so is very Halloween themed, the clown area is very colourful, has lots of balloons and a ball pit which may or may not have something hiding in there

Some who use the skeleton area are: Sans, Papyrus, Jack Skellington, Lewis Pepper, The Phantom, Itward and the Grim Reaper

Some who use the clown area are: Pennywise, Jevil, Dimentio, Fizzarolli, Ronald McDonald, Buggy and Moon (Sun doesn't like going in cus he's scared of everyone so the room is mostly kept in the dark)

There is a bar and restaurant floor which is also used for parties, any member can get on stage and perform by singing, dancing or doing a comedy routine (Bittergiggle has been banned because every time he tells a joke and no one laughs he has a mental breakdown)

For the ones who either don't have a home or do but it's shit, membership also offers living quarters which are basically small apartments (the more popular they are they bigger and nicer their rooms are) some people who live in the building are: Onceler, Bendy, Spamton, Jevil, Warren (tho he probably lives in a closet)

Sans and Cecil don't decide who's a member and who get's kicked out, it's up to the fans. Sans and Cecil get to decide things to do with the building and events

Alastor refuses to appear at any fan meet n greets because he hates his fans

Baldi and Purple Guy are best friends cus they both really fuckin hate kids

Ban Ban is a member for some reason but he doesn't visit a lot due to the fact no one likes him

Bendy follows Alastor around like a lost puppy because he thinks he's cool (Charlie thinks he's adorable)

Dancing Banana hosts quiz shows where sexymen compete, it's very popular, he also hosts interviews

Sun and Papyrus get along very well and hang out a lot, Sans always stays close by incase the lights go out because Moon is a bitch

Dimentio takes full advantage on how strong Jevil is and has mind controlled him several times, Jevil does not remember any of it other than suddenly appearing in a different location feeling dazed

Duck thinks he's the best sexyman, Sans just goes along with it, he doesn't care enough to argue

Red Guy is like a royal British guard as in people like to do weird shit in front of him to get him to react…no one has gotten one yet

Itward is the Dad friend to everyone, he's good at comforting and lends an ear for venting

The Phantom speaks perfect English but he often pretends he only knows French so he can avoid people

King Dice will sometimes co-host Dancing Bananas shows unless he's busy

Zim, Peepers and Marvin will fight constantly and once they enter a room people will start to leave

Mettaton hates how both Sans and Spamton are so much more popular than him since one is lazy and the other lives in the trash (and has tiny legs)

Onceler and Warden are best friends and share one brain cell (their friendship is similar to Arin and Dans from Game Grumps)

Papi will often bring Popee with him which no one is happy with because he is very explosive (literally) except Moon he encourages the chaos and has pretty much adopted him

Everyone has collectively made a rule that no one may upset Papyrus, anyone who does is shunned and excluded

There is an ongoing war between Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders where they both try to put up the most ads for their food places

Sans has a fancy penthouse apartment he only uses for naps, there's toys in it for when Frisk is over as well

Even after everything that happened, Jevil is still good with kids and won't hurt them, one time he found Frisk sitting alone as Sans was in a meeting so he played with them and showed them magic tricks until it was done

Every so often Shrignold will show up and ship everyone with everyone, no one likes him and Tony will have to search the whole building to catch him and kick him out

Larry sees everyone's dreams, he has seen some shit and isn't sure whether Spamton or Jevil have the weirder ones

Slenderman is like a sim, he will walk over to people and join their conversations although he doesn't speak, he just stands there menacingly

The Smiler is there sometimes, no one knows why but they've just accepted it, the people at Alton Towers are still trying to figure out why is keeps disappearing tho

The Onceler has been woken up on several occasions in the early hours of the morning because Spamton and Jevil decided to have a competition on who can make the most noise and keep the other awake (their rooms are right next to each other)

Jevil and Popee are an awful combination, they have lit many fires, Fizzarolli is afraid

The Warden in in charge of security, he has placed cameras everywhere

As part of the agreement when they were taking Jevil he is not allowed to leave the building on his own and has to wear an ankle monitor which will also shock him if he tries to leave

When Tony first arrived he made sure every room has a clock so everyone always knows the time

whats the good comics to read? ive read & liked hellboy & flex mentallo, watchmen was pretty good. did not rly enjoy punisher that much tho i read a lot of it like 15 years ago. ive read a couple of batman runs as well tho aside from killing joke idr which ones.

caveat that I've been mostly reading Marvel stuff of late and I kinda dropped off comics like...a month and a half ago or so cause of work and pivoting to interest in film, though I'm hoping to get back into it. But here are some things I've enjoyed!

The original Stan Lee and Gerry Conway Amazing Spider-Man runs are great if you want old-school character drama and have the patience for excessive exposition. The same caveats go for Chris Claremont's tenure on Uncanny X-Men which are some of my favorite cape comics ever. This run is really long, so if you want a condensed idea of what it's like, "God Loves, Man Kills" is a great graphic novel that kinda captures the spirit of that era and its core characters, and I also adore the Starjammers/Brood Saga. The New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman, which @radiofreederry is chronicling as she reads it, works for similar reasons as Claremont's X-Men, which it was emulating and in some ways surpasses.

J. Michael Straczynski's Amazing Spider-Man run...there are two options here: 1) Just read the period where John Romita Jr. is the artist, which ends with "The Book of Ezekiel" arc. This is the strongest and most consistent section of the story. It actually made me cry at least once or twice. 2) Read the whole run, but recognize that it *will* shit the bed at least three times, two of which are mostly pointless and skippable ("Sins Past" and "The Other"), one of which is both one of the worst stories ever told and fundamentally damaged the character to this day, *and* the unfortunate, editorially imposed conclusion to the whole creative run ("One More Day"). However this section also includes two of my favorite Spider-Man stories ("Mr. Parker Goes to Washington/The War at Home," imo the only part of Civil War that actually proved the value of the event, and "Back in Black") so it depends on your patience and willingness to deal with wack stuff in order to get to good parts.

Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo's Fantastic Four run is like, really charming and beautiful and silly but moving. Honestly a perfect run imo.

My favorite Batman story is unquestionably The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, which was a big influence on the Matt Reeves Batman movie (which is also my favorite Batman film). Really embraces the character's detective qualities, which is when I think he's most interesting - I don't need him to be doing a lot emotionally or be the most unconquerable creature with tons of prep time, I need him to be Hercule Poirot in a silly suit. But if you want a great detective story without Batman's baggage, Denny O'Neill's The Question is so so good. Funny, dark, politically charged, philosophically poignant. Kind of ends unsatisfactorily but the ride there is really good detective drama.

If you like Hellboy, it's worth checking out a lot of the late 80s DC/Vertigo lineup which aimed for weirdness and high concepts. This includes Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Gaiman's The Sandman, Hellblazer, Animal Man, and Doom Patrol. Double-recommendation for Doom Patrol and Animal Man, because both were written by Flex Mentallo author Grant Morrison.

Let's see...George Perez's Wonder Woman is a cool mix of grounded drama and high-fantasy. I like it best when Perez is on pencils and writing, not just the latter. Hawkworld is the only good Hawkman story. Morrison's All-Star Superman is great but requires a lot of Superman familiarity to really appreciate imo. Warren Ellis's time on Thunderbolts is a fun little action/psychological thriller comic. Brian Michael Bendis' Dardevil is actually really good, it's the only thing he's written that I think is great without any qualifications. Gail Simone's Secret Six is a fun variant on the Suicide Squad concept. I like 2000s She-Hulk, Ghost Rider...the first forty-two issues of Ed Brubaker's Captain America is honestly a pretty sick spy thriller.

if I didn't' mention something well-regarded or contemporary here (e.g. Mark Waid's The Flash) assume I just haven't read it yet, I have an extremely long spreadsheet of things to read. This got pretty long but yeah, that's a bunch of stuff I've read and enjoyed!

Dim All the Lights, Batch 1 Drafts Off to Editing

Batch 1 of Dim All the Lights content is off to editing!

Dim All the Lights, which starts crowdfunding this Fall, is a follow-up to Moonlight on Roseville Beach. It'll include the core rules, new character options, and new places and entities for PCs to investigate.

The first batch includes:

New origin stories, including The Veteran, an experienced supernatural investigator who's regularly showing off new skills; The Rose Island Regular, who's been working on the island for several years and knows a lot about the town and its locals; The Changeling, who was taken to live in different worlds and realities and returned to find someone else was living their life; and Mainland Renegade, inspired by Mary Ann Singleton, who came out to Roseville Beach for a weekend and decided to stay.

New jobs with the Fire Brigade, the Park Service, Rosie's Bar, and The Paperback Exchange, and self-employment opportunities.

Investigation guides (with player handouts) for five mysterious entities, including the logs of a missing park ranger, the lab notes of marine biologist, the private diaries of a woman who went missing, and police records from several suspiciously similar disappearances (by Noora Rose of Monkey's Paw).

New "Stories from Roseville Beach" by Bendi Barrett.

We're still working on other new material, including:

Deep dives into weird locations like Odd Island, where Otters of Unusual Size seem to be keeping all humans away, and the village of Charmington, near Rose Island's eastern edge, an exclusive community of shipping magnates hosted by the leaders of an odd local church, with an unusually high number of missing teenagers.

Ready to run mysteries from Sharang Biswas and myself, including my convention scenario, The Bracknell Horror.

New strange events tying your characters to the events of Dim All the Lights.

Ezakur's rules for taking your housemates on a ghost-hunting road trip.

A one-shot prequel about the regulars of a Gulf Coast gay bar escaping a town overrun by vampires on Halloween Night.

earth-65 timeline thoughts

pre-canon

gwen kills peter at the prom, which would've taken place in may 2013 or 2014. even though the fact sheets say gwen was a senior when the janes were founded, and gwen's betty's ex-roommate in what's clearly a dorm-style living situation, her aging's slowed later on, so retroactively, it must have been the junior prom and gwen's taking a gap year after her senior year instead of being a college dropout. also it appears that harry never finished school and went straight to the military instead of attending his senior year, or he's a year older than gwen. and the mary janes are... somehow already a band when gwen's a junior during her first week as spider-woman. the early days continuity's a mess. ugh. anyway. the one thing we know for sure is peter dies in may.

latour run

gwen's first issue takes place in about april 2015, about 2 years after she gets her powers and kills peter. gwen then spends a "few months" trapped in another dimension after the spiderverse event before she finally makes it home in time for "most wanted".

gwen's annual, despite being written much later, takes place in may… and her world has blizzards in summer for some reason. so weather can't be treated as a reliable indicator for time of year on earth 65.

issue #6 gives us something to go off: murdock's concert ticket is timestamped. the concert takes place on june 6 2015... even though for some reason the girls are dressed like it's winter and talk about being too broke to afford winter hats. again, can't trust the weather.

the goblin arc takes place during summer. the group mention as much. gwen works at the dollar dog during this time, for about a month.

"clone conspiracy" has to have happened around here, and gwen was in 616 for a few weeks.

when "weapon of choice" kicks off, it's autumn.

issue #13 takes place on halloween.

issue #14 takes place on thanksgiving.

issue #15 takes place around christmas.

"sitting in a tree" is clearly a valentine's event, but so much shit happens near the end of the latour run that it's got take place in january. also gwen's being referred to by bendis as 18, which she isn't.

gwen goes on the run with harry for at least a week in "predators" (long enough to get a tan), is rampaging as venom for maybe a month in "gwenom" and the night before her arrest it's snowing. so at the latest, it's late february/march 2016.

gwen's trial takes six months, so she's convicted and sent to prison in around august 2016.

gwen is released in august 2017, exactly 365 days after her incarceration.

mcguire run

kicks off 52 days after gwen's release. after being stranded for a few days in 3109 during a spiderverse event, gwen heads to a community college's registrar's office while school appears to be in session, so it's late september 2017 at the earliest.

gwen goes to school long enough to establish a routine, so that's at minimum a month before she's exiled, which would mean that happens in october 2017 at the earliest.

also somehow she's subject to cradle laws, so she's 20 at the oldest. even though it's been over 2 years since she was 19 at the start of the latour run. oh well. i guess gwen's been retconned to 18 at the start, turning 19 shortly before she's convicted, and then 20 while she's in jail. and that peter dies much closer to gwen's first adventures as spider-woman (hence the junior prom instead of the senior prom).

big ??? about "last remains" or "gwenom vs carnage". bare minimum gwen was in 616 long enough to get roommates and have some kind of rapport with them. so at least a month or two.

mini limbo

"end of spiderverse" and "gwenverse" have gwen back in 65 with no indication that she ever left.

but "shadow clones" confirms that gwen's been working at the smoothie shack for three months, so it's been that length of time, minimum, since eos at the earliest.

and since gwen's "contest of chaos" annual takes place during the school year, it must be spring 2018. anyway whether the comics admit it or not gwen's 21 by now.

since gwen's not in college during the events of "smash", i'm guessing it's spring break 2018 and/or she's skipping. and smash takes about a month because gwen's tour would've lasted about a week, plus a few more to make emjarnage's meltdowns a familiar routine. also, gwen and the girls drink what looks like alcohol during this event, so she's gotta be 21.

the latest gwen's birthday can possibly be is april, to make her 18/just-turned-19 at the start of her chronology.

phillips run

"web of spider-man" shows gwen in maybe-65, getting slurped up by the mysterious villain that drove her from her dimension, later revealed to be loki. in preparation for timeline compression, we'll say it's been a week since the end of smash.

which puts us at about summer (2018, in e-65).... which gives an out for the continuity hole of gwen not being in/mentioning college. she wasn't deaged, she may not have even dropped out. school's just out.

retroactive continuity guess: i think the "tva" miniseries is gonna have to be placed after gwen's exile, but before gwen moves to 616.

issue #1 picks up five days into gwen's second exile to 616.

her "haunted" arc is confirmed in issue #10 to have lasted for "weeks." so, less than a month, more than a week.

-> issues #2-3 are the day after issue #1. gwen's passed out, recovering from a stab wound in the meantime.

-> a few days pass between #3 and #4. this is most likely when we have to assume "spider-society" takes place, since it's after miles and gwen's first interaction on 616, in #2/3.

-> issues #4-5 take place on the same day.

-> a few days pass between #5 and #6.

-> a few days pass between #6 and #7. gwen's staking out black tarantula's meeting place during this time.

-> issues #8-10 take place over one day, the day after issue #7.

these 5/6 and 6/7 skips will probably be needed to pad out when tva, the concert of champions one-off, and other events take place bc gwen's about to go to space, so any shit she does on earth during that time will have to move around.

her "beyond" arc is next.

so overall the latour run condenses to just under one year, add one year for her prison time, and the mcguire run plus the minis taking about an academic year and you get:

gwen’s been a hero for five years, and it’s been three since the start of her chronology. she was spider-woman for two years in high school, a fugitive for one year, in prison for one year, and a multiverse bouncer attending university in 616 for almost one year.

If you saw my last post, your eyes do not deceive you: there is a Halloween update coming to both Bendy and the Ink Machine and Bendy and the Dark Revival's PC versions on October 24th-31st called Ink Demon's Eve. They're not advertising it in BATIM, but both games have received new achievements in their lists ahead of the update's release. I'll probably tag them under the ink demon's eve one as well, but the most important tag to remember is the bendy spoilers one, so if you want to experience the new updates for yourself and don't want to get spoilers from me, then it's best to filter those tags.

Carley was originally created in 1935 by an employee of Joey, this woman is known as Jane Todd. The artist was very passionate about her character Carley and created her in nearly two months of the butcher gangs debut episode.

The young woman showed her co-workers her character who she was very proud of and adored the ghost.

She was extremely disappointed and upset after her co-workers crumpled up her drawings. Jane tried to ignore their 'critiques' and remained determined as she strives to make her character join the Butcher Gang and bring her into the Bendy shows. She was successful after she built the courage to show Drew her character a year after its creation. (1936)

Drew himself seemed reluctant but his daughter was ecstatic. The young girl absolutely adored Carley, and would continuously bug Drew about the ghost being in the show. Jane was overwhelmed with joy when the girl went on and on about how much she adored Carley and even drew fanart for Jane.

Joey soon welcome Jane’s character after many many begs from his daughter. The woman was surprised but overloaded with happiness. She often bragged to the co-workers who discouraged her.

The ghosts debut was in October of 1936, her episode being named 'Phasmophobia'. In said episode, it’s a Halloween special. Bendy and Beebee go to a scary looking house. The Imps ring the doorbell multiple times, desperate for candy. after getting impatient Beebee suggests they leave. However, Bendy was determined and found a way inside. The two entered, ghosts roamed the house, Carley being the main antagonist. The episode mainly focused on frightening the Imps until they ran out. 3 minutes in, Beebee dragged Bendy out the house in a panic. The haunting episode ending with Carley laughing at the Imps as they ran away before winking at the audience.

In later episodes, Carley is seen following the butcher gang around. Bendy and Beebee interfere with the ghosts attempts of being noticed by the gang. Only the young spider Edgar noticing her. The little spider often interacted with the ghost, getting her noticed by Barley and Charley. The ghost only accompanying the gang to care for Edgar, like a big sister. However she saw this as officially being apart of the gang.

Despite the gang having a hatred towards Bendy and Beebee, Edgar and Carley seemed friendly with the two(frenemies perhaps)

The ghost often seemed embarrassed or shy when around Beebee. The two even had a episode together 'Starry night'. In said episode, Carley attempts to ask Beebee to watch the stars with her. Bendy and Edgar encourage her, however, the ghost is hesitant. She tries to make the night perfect, though the female imp seems to enjoy the event with the ghost despite Carley making many mistakes. The episode ends with the imp giving the ghost a pec on the cheek. Beebee was seen as Carleys love interest, it was never clear if the female demon has the same affection, but it is believed so.

Despite Carley being accepted by Joey, she was later removed after a year of her existence on the show. The ghost didn’t appear for 36 years, like Azael and Beebee, the ghost was a background character. However she was later revamped by arch gate(1972) keeping her for good.
