Sammy, how is living in the internet going?

The...internet? Is that what this strange realm is called? Thank you for your guidance, my sheep. How very illuminating...I suppose it is a lot quieter than what I'm used to. The dark puddles, they are a screaming well of voices, never silent, always in agony. But this place...well, it is loud, but not in the way I've grown accustomed to. It's almost...peaceful.

My friends on Twitter were curious about how Doris sounds when she’s going bonkers, so I animated this!

Doris is very sensitive about Bendy/Diana, and is very dependent on her as she is Doris’s only friend besides Alex. She’s not exactly as jealous as Diana thinks she is, but she’s very worrisome, and loathes herself whenever Diana dismisses her. It’s easy for Doris to get anxious and melt down when she feels neglected by Diana (especially if she’s run off with Mr. Twisted), however she’ll only show it when she’s at her limit. Otherwise, Doris keeps her emotions to herself, wishing Diana would never leave her alone.

On the other hand, Diana doesn’t care for Doris as much as Doris adores her. Diana is intimidated by her during these meltdowns, because Doris is easily able to overpower her and accidentally hurt her… The most Diana can do is wait for her to calm down…

Sorry for coming in so late! Can I get a snippet from Searching the Depths? Or Drew's Last Hope? Thank you!

No need to apologize Nemo! I'm happy to see you. ^^ Hmm, I've been debating what piece would best suit your ask, but I think I'd like to give you a snippet of Drew's Last Hope.

So, context: Drew's Last Hope is the tentative title for the BATDR section of Searching the Depth's story. I consider The Heart of the Studio to be mostly BATIM, Richard the Keeper to be the interlude between BATIM and BATDR, and then we get Drew's Last Hope. Here's a snippet with Audrey and Bella, from inside of Lord Amok's prison. (Programming note, this was heavily inspired by Hermes in Epic: The Musical.)

The sound of slow applause echoed from the back of the chamber. “I have to say, I underestimated you.” 

Audrey jerked her head around, the voice surrounding her, but she couldn’t place where it was coming from. “Who’s there?!” “An ally, if you’ll have one.” A gleeful cackle pierced the air, as the candlelight danced across the rocky walls of her prison. Forming together, a shadowy figure pried itself out of the wall. It was none other than the shepherd she’d run into before. 

“You! What are you-how are you-” She stammered. 

“Shhhh.” The shepherd laughed as she sauntered over, putting a hand on Audrey’s shoulder as she put a finger over her own mouth. “My dear sheep, we wouldn’t want them to hear us, now would we?” She giggled. “Did you really think they could keep us contained?” 

“I-augh.” Audrey shook her head and tried to catch her breath. “How did you get in here?” 

“Took the back route. The front door would’ve been faster, but uh, I don’t think Amok would’ve liked that.” She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “What, you’ve never Flowed through a wall before?” 

“That…was Flow?” Audrey looked her up and down, her eyes scrunched together in doubt, and maybe just a little bit of fear. “But…why? How can it do that?” “Simple. We don’t like staying cooped up. Gotta learn to get away.” She smirked. “Porter really didn’t tell you anything, did he?” “No…” Audrey sighed and looked to the ground. She closed her eyes and shook her head, clenching her fists. “He was off pretty quickly, and I didn’t think to ask…how do you know him?” “Oh, we were roommates, once upon a time.” She leaned against the wall, resting a bare foot against its stone. “We took him in when things got hectic. He helped us find supplies, we helped him stay alive.” 

“So…you’re friends then?” Audrey cocked her head to the side curiously. 

“Something like that.” She smirked. Somehow it felt less cocky and more…genuinely playful. “Porter’s practically family at this point. Then again, there’s very few people here I wouldn’t say that about…” She looked to the ground and sighed, shaking her head. “I know every lost one, searcher, and toon like the back of my hand. But I don’t know you. And I’ll be frank with you, Audrey.” She stuck her hands in her pockets as she looked up at her, ever so slightly menacing. “Your first impression left something to be desired. What’s your story?” 

“My…story?” Audrey took a step back, her arms slightly raised, as if ready to defend herself.” 

The shepherd nodded. “You aren’t like anything I’ve ever seen. You came in here and immediately started thrusting souls back into the puddles. And, well, if I’m to be brutally honest, you’re making my life harder.” The shepherd narrowed her eyes. “Why are you here? Were you sent to torture us further? Or are you really that unaware of the power you hold?”

What would you do if the ink realm was yours to control and be in charge of?

This is a really interesting question, thanks for sending it in Bernie!

I've often wondered about how difficult this must be for Audrey, should she end up using her charge over the ink realm to fix things, but what would I as Kat do if I had control of the world? Well I'd want to know what exactly my limitations were. What's within my power, what can I change, what are the consequences, what are the benefits? And most importantly, how can I help the people inside?

As much as I love some good torturous fanfic with a helping of angst, if I'm in this world, these characters are now more real to me than ever. They're people who are suffering, people whose minds have been twisted in ways they probably can't explain. I'd want to use my power to help them, give them some sense of comfort, and make their space more habitable (especially if I can't set them free, assuming that's what they'd want). I'd like to take some time with the ink demon to try and work things out, give him someone to call a friend who doesn't jump to calling him a monster or a mistake. I'd want to spend some time with Alice and tell her that she's already beautiful, and try to refocus her efforts to be beautiful on the inside and know that she is Alice, she's whoever she chooses to be. I'd go to the music department and ask Sammy for some clarification on what the hell he means by being set free to try and make that happen. I'd want to spend some time with Betty, maybe share some more books with her.

And of course, I'd want to spend some time with Henry, Allison, and Tom, the people most likely to know how to make things better. Especially Tom, if he has any sense of what the human Thomas Connor knew about the ink, maybe he has a chance of setting things right. At least, I'd hope so. I'd spend a lot of time trying to get to know him better I think.

Made-Up fic title: Look for the light

Oooh this has some great potential! Thank you Lucky!

My first instinct for this one is a Projectionist fic, since y'know, we have the literal light for him, but I also want it to get metaphorical with an inner light. Malice is walking around in the darkness, trying to harvest some hearts and parts for herself (I mean she had to do some things before Henry showed up, right?). She ends up in the lair of the Projectionist. There is ink straight up to your ankles, it's gross to slosh through and makes too much noise, no matter how quiet you try to be. And unfortunately, our angel attracts his attention and ends up running for her life, screaming. But that's not all she's attracted. The ink demon isn't done with her, he's still vengeful, upset she came out so well and all the more eager to rip that away from her, shred her little face even more than he already has. And the Projectionist, well, he doesn't like the ink demon being in his territory, and as we know, he's not afraid to fist fight him.

He sees Alice on the ground, struggling to crawl backwards away from this creature, and for just a sliver of a moment, he sees not Alice, but Susie deep down. Someone who was once a light in the studio. They were friends once. She made him laugh, she lit up the whole room with her energy. He sees there is some light again. And with that moment of clarity, he goes and fights off the ink demon. Perhaps this is an earlier cycle, before Henry came into the picture, and the Projectionist has something he didn't before. Perhaps the reel lodged in his shoulder is The End, and he banishes the demon away. And as the world fades and starts anew, flickering like a film reel, the angel that was once Susie Campbell looks at not the Projectionist, but Norman, and he smiles. "You're safe now angel. Try tah stay outta trouble, ya hear?" Alice is left crying when she wakes up in the cycle again, not sure why she's so heartbroken. Was it all just another nightmare, or was it real?

Alternatively, I think this works well for a BATDR fic with Henry, though my take is a bit unorthodox. Henry has gone through this cycle so many times, he knows that it is hopeless. It will never get better. And now that Wilson has entered the cycle with his Keepers and struck him down, terrorized its citizens in pursuit of control and vanquishing the ink demon, he is feeling more hopeless than ever. So instead of walking through the tunnel to get back to the surface, he stays in the depths of the ink, surrounded by voices who cry out in pain. He is numb. He can't do anything to save them, he just wants to rest. He can feel himself sinking deeper, fading away into nothing, no longer having to keep it all together.

But a voice calls out to him. It asks him questions. Asks him to please answer, please come back up. It's awfully dark and cold down there, he'll catch a cold if he stays too long. That gets him to chuckle a little. He asks the voice why it cares. And it answers back childishly, why wouldn't it? Getting a cold is no fun. They can't play if he's sick, and surely he would like to play, wouldn't he? Henry says he hasn't played anything in a long time, there is no time for games when he is fighting for his life. The voice says that the wolf would beg to differ. Henry has some recognition. The voice knows Boris, his Boris, the Boris who protected him. The Boris who was kind when the entire world was awful and cruel. The Boris who played cards with him in the safehouse. His Boris. His buddy. The voice reaches out. Henry follows. He follows their light until he reaches the surface. They're right, he has to keep going, he has to keep fighting. He has to try. If not for him, then for Boris. He makes it to the surface, and reformed from the ink, he sees the bright, golden eyes of a lost one with a big bow on her top. She introduces herself as Heidi. She and Boris are playing hide and seek. Would you please help her find him Henry? He's a little too good at hiding. And so they go off to find Boris. Henry's heart is touched by Heidi's playful nature, yearning to see his own daughter again back home. He is grateful for her light, she saved him when he needed it most.

♤ All Imps are under the authority of Papa Pluto

♤ All Imps names start with "B"

♤ Most Imps live in the underworld to help serve Papa Pluto, but some stay in the overworld to cause trouble and hang around. Papa Pluto doesn't really care unless he really needs them, so he just let's them run rampant

♤ Imps are the only demons Pluto has to do his bidding, which kind of sucks because they're very weak and can be a bit cowardly when faced with things stronger than them and run away. Or they're extremely stupid and get themselves killed. But it wasn't always like that.

♤ Pluto used to have a legion of strong and powerful demons to do his work, but they all got destroyed when he sent them to look for the Ink Machine. He has no more of these Demon's. Yet 👀....

♤ Imps aren't actually demons (neither is Papa Pluto really) from HELL, so no religious items really work to repel them, despite what many think. They don't really cause too much destruction to result in that kind of thing though, so they're not to worried about it. They'd rather steal pies from old ladies than possess people
