CHAPTER NINE (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
The next day at Remedial Goodness 101 class, Elisa found herself sitting next to Mal and Evie at their usual desks with Carlos and Jay sitting across from them. She was still thinking about her and Ben's moment from the night before, a blush creeping up her cheeks as the memories of their shared kiss replayed in her mind. It had been magical, and the way he held her, the way he kissed her…She couldn't get it out of her mind. She had never felt so desired and wanted, and she had never felt this way about anyone before. But she wasn't sure if it was all just because of the love spell or if it was real. She sighed heavily, crossing her arms on the desk and laying her head on them, not wanting the others to see the blush on her cheeks.
Mal raises an eyebrow, a playful smirk forming on her lips. "You seem…Different."
Elisa shrugs, her gaze focused on the notebook in front of her. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Evie giggles, leaning over to whisper in Elisa's ear. "She's talking about how you look like a lovesick puppy, especially whenever the prince's name is mentioned."
Elisa's head shoots up, her eyes wide with shock. "I do not!"
Mal laughs, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Come on, Elisa. It's obvious that something happened between you two." She says, giving her a knowing look. "So spill the beans, how did the date go?"
"Children, excuse me." Fairy Godmother speaks up and Elisa is thankful that the teacher had saved her from the oncoming teasing and questions. "Um…As you know, this Sunday is Family Day here at Auradon Prep. And because your parents can't be here due to, uh…Distance, we've arranged for a special treat." She explained with a bright smile. She then walked over to the computer at the front of the room, pressing a button that then showed Maleficent in front of the screen, her head tilted to the side as she looked confused. Elisa jumped, startled at suddenly seeing the villain and hearing the evil woman's voice coming through the speakers.
"I don't see anything nor do I hear." She backed up to sit back down, revealing the other three villain kid's parents with her.
"Kids!" Fairy Godmother ushered the group to come forward with a smile.
Elisa followed her friends, sending them encouraging looks as they walk to the front. She decided to linger in the back since this moment didn't really include her. But she did think it was thoughtful of Fairy Godmother to include her friends for the Family Day. She knew her family would be there and she was looking forward to see them, so for now she would give her friends their moment. She leaned against a desk with crossed arms, watching with amusement as the villains had trouble working the computer.
"Evie, it's mommy!" The Evil Queen smiles as she waves at her daughter once the computer got working. Evie smiles slightly, trying to show the nerves she felt while she waves. "Look how beautiful. You know what they say, the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
"Don't you mean the weeds?" Maleficent remarked.
Cruella grimaces at seeing Fairy Godmother. "Who's the old bat?"
"This is Fairy Godmother." Mal chimed in.
"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" Maleficent questioned as she laughed with the others.
"I turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage!" Fairy Godmother defended herself.
"You really couldn't give Cinderella 'till one am? I mean, really. What, the hamsters had to be back on their little wheels?" Maleficent laughed.
"They were mice! They were not…They were mice." Fairy Godmother defended herself as she glanced at the students behind her. Elisa sent her a sympathetic look, knowing this wasn't easy for her. Mal thanked her for doing this and Fairy Godmother quickly defended herself again before she stepped out of the way, letting the kids have their moment with their parents.
"Hi, mom." Mal greeted.
"Mal." Maleficent gasps. "I m-miss you." She stammered and Elisa noticed it looked hard for her to say that. Elisa rolled her eyes at the act, knowing it wasn't sincere.
"You children are never far from our thoughts." Jafar smiled sheepishly as he waved along with Cruella.
"How long must mommy wait to see you?" Maleficent questioned.
"Oh, there's a big coronation coming up. I think probably sometime after that." Mal explained.
"When?" Maleficent pressed.
"Friday, ten am." Mal answered.
"You sure I can't see you before that?" Maleficent wonders. "I don't know what I'll do if I don't get my hands on that magic…" She stops herself before letting something slip and quickly corrects herself. "You…You my little nugget that I love so much."
"Yes, I completely understand, mother." Mal murmured.
Cruella suddenly gets in front of the others after noticing her son was holding a dog. Her eyes are wide and her lips parted in shock. "Carlos, is that a dog?" She exclaims. "Yes, yes, baby, I do understand." She said to her stuffed dog on her coat that she squeezed, causing the toy to make a squeaking sound. Elisa looked at her weirdly, wondering how her friend dealt with his crazy mother. She never understood how any of her friends dealt with their parents and always felt bad for them. "It would make the perfect size for earmuffs." She added with a laugh.
Carlos steps forward, glaring at his mom. "He's the perfect size for a pet." Cruella leans back with a gasp, looking surprise. "This dog loves me and I love him! And FYI, your dog is stuffed!" Cruella sits back down, staring at him with wide eyes. "So give it a rest!" Carlos shouted angrily as he fell back in line with his friends. Elisa had to admit she was impressed to see him standing up for himself. She didn't expect it from him, but she was proud of him.
"Burn." Jafar laughed, smirking at a shocked looking Cruella.
"Oh, why don't you go sell a toaster, you two-bit salesman!" Cruella scoffed, turning to glare at Jafar.
"People who talk to stuffed animals shouldn't throw stones!" Jafar told her.
"Oh, well, people who sell toasters shouldn't used mixed metaphors!" Cruella replied.
Elisa steps forward after noticing the uneasy looks on her friends faces. She stands next to Carlos and Mal, placing a comforting hand on Carlos' shoulder. Being sent to the Isle and befriending these four, she had learned quickly they all had it rough growing up, but she honestly thought Carlos had it more rough of the four. She was happy he finally stood up to his mother, but she knew it was hard for him, and she wanted him to know he wasn't alone. He tensed slightly at the sudden contact, but he quickly relaxed and gave her a small, thankful smile. She returned the smile and squeezed his shoulder comfortingly. She noticed Jay had put a comforting hand on Carlos' back before he leaned forward and ended the video call as his dad and Carlos' mom kept arguing. She sent Jay a sympathetic look after locking eyes with him, her heart hurting for the group.
"I'm so sorry." Fairy Godmother apologized, looking at the group with genuine sadness and sympathy.
"Thanks for the special treat." Jay replied with a forced smile.
"Of course." Fairy Godmother nodded.
Mal was the first to turn and start walking away. Her friends soon followed, each of them grabbing their things. "You two good?" Elisa asked softly, looking at the boys with concern as she walked with them in the back.
"Yeah." Carlos said with a nod, forcing a smile.
"We're fine." Jay muttered, keeping his gaze straight ahead. Elisa knew they were both lying, but she didn't want to pry. She didn't know how to make them feel better, and she felt guilty. She hadn't grown up with her friends like they did, and she wasn't sure what to say or do. She hated seeing her friends like this, and she wished there was more she could do to help.
"M?" Evie asks, gaining the purple-haired girl's attention. "What do you think our parents are gonna do to us if we don't pull this off?"
"I think they will be quietly disappointed in us, but ultimately proud of us for doing our best." Mal replied, causing her friends to look at her with surprise.
"Really?" Carlos questioned.
"No, I think we are definitely goners." Mal admitted.
"Well, that's great." Elisa sarcastically commented as she followed her friends out of the room.
❄❄❄❄
Later that night, Elisa found herself in the boys room at a table full of papers and Mal's spell book. They were going over their plan to get the wand, but Elisa honestly didn't want to do this. She didn't want to do any of this, but she had no choice. She was starting to get the idea the others didn't want to either, but wouldn't admit it. She felt terrible for them, being pressured by their parents into stealing the wand.
"Okay, we all know what this looks like." Mal speaks up, pointing at a drawing of the map of the castle. "So, we'll be up on the dais under the Beast's spell jar, and we'll be coming up from in here. El will be in the very front. We will be up in the balcony." Everyone nods in confirmation and Mal glances at Carlos. "Carlos?"
"Okay, so I'll find our limo, so we can break the barrier and get back on the island with the wand." Carlos replied and Mal nodded.
"Perfect. Evie?"
"Yeah?" Evie asked, raising her eyebrows.
Mal holds up a perfume bottle. "You will use this to take out the driver. Two sprays and he'll be out like a light." Mal smirked, handing the bottle to her.
"Okay." Evie nodded, taking the bottle and putting it in her purse.
After a moment of awkward silence, everyone steps away from the table to do their own thing, but Evie pauses after noticing a spell on the page of Mal's spell book that was open. "El?" She said softly, glancing at Elisa with a frown. "You're thinking about breaking the love spell?"
Elisa glances over at the spell book at that question, sighing heavily at seeing the page. She had asked Mal earlier this morning if she could make a spell to break the love spell on Ben. She hated this guilt that had been consuming her heart ever since she gave him that cookie. She knew it was the right thing to do and she wanted to make things right. "Yeah," She said softly, nodding. "I mean…I can't keep him under the spell…No matter how much I want to."
"So, you do want to be with him?" Evie questioned.
Elisa's lips twitches upwards. "Well, yeah. Of course, I do….But not like this. Not under a love spell." She explains, glancing at the spell book before locking eyes with her. "He deserves better than that. He's a great guy and…I do care about him. I care about him a lot, honestly. And like, when the villains rule over Auradon, it just feels like it would be cruel for Ben to still be under the love spell." She mumbled, her gaze falling on the ring Ben got her. When she had her gloves on, she had the ring over the gloved covered finger. But right now, the gloves were on yet she was holding the ring between her thumb and index finger, her eyes focused on the beautiful stone.
Evie and Mal are silent as they exchange a glance, surprised to hear Elisa talking like this. Mal steps forward, closing the spell book. "El, are you sure? I want you to be sure before we do this."
Elisa looks up from the ring at that, nodding her head firmly. "Yeah, I'm sure. I've thought a lot about this. I think it's the right thing to do." She mumbles, looking back at her ring. "No matter how hard it will be." She got up at that, slipping the ring back on her finger before she left the room, ignoring the questioning and worried glances the other four gave her. She needed a moment alone.
She wandered around the school, eventually ending up in the garden. It was late and the sun was down, but she could still see the beauty of the garden. She sighed, leaning against a pillar as she gazed up at the dark sky. She was lost in thought, the guilt and pain eating away at her. She had made her decision, and she was glad she did. She just hoped Ben would understand.
"Elisa?" A voice suddenly spoke up, startling her out of her thoughts.
Elisa tenses, recognizing the voice. She glances over her shoulder, her eyes meeting a pair of familiar green ones. "Benny." She greets softly, her heart fluttering at the sight of the prince. "What are you doing here? It's late."
"I came to find you." Ben smiles slightly, stepping closer. He stands next to her, his arm brushing against hers. "I missed you."
Elisa can't help but smile at that, her gaze falling to the ground. "Oh, did you?"
"Yeah," Ben chuckles, taking her hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. "Of course, I did. I always miss you when we're not together."
Elisa hated the way her heart flutters at his words and swallows hard, her gaze lingering on their joined hands. "Ben…" She mutters, looking back up to meet his eyes. She notices the adoration and love in his eyes, and her heart clenches. She sighs and reluctantly pulls her hand away, taking a step back. "I should go…It's late and-"
"El, wait." Ben pleads, catching her wrist. She stills and looks at him, her eyes meeting his. "I just…I don't want you to leave."
"Ben," Elisa breathes, her chest tightening. "Please, don't make this harder than it already is."
"What are you talking about?" Ben frowns, stepping closer. He cups her face, gently stroking her cheek with his thumb. Elisa's breath hitches, her heart beating faster. "Ellie, I don't understand…Did I do something wrong? Did I upset you?"
"Ben, no." Elisa shakes her head, placing her hand on top of his. She closed her eyes for a moment, leaning into his touch before she pulled his hand away. She opens her eyes and took a step back, locking eyes with him. "You're amazing, Ben. You didn't do anything wrong. You're perfect and-and I care about you a lot. But…" She stops, her throat closing as she struggles to get the words out. She swallows hard and blinks the tears away. "I-I'm sorry, I need to go." She stammered before she turned and started walking away, knowing if she stayed any longer, she wouldn't have the strength to leave him.
"Elisa, wait!" Ben calls after her, chasing after her. He grabs her arm and she freezes. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, trying to stop herself from crying. "Please, just tell me what's wrong."
"Ben," Elisa mutters, opening her eyes as she turns around. "It's complicated, okay? Just trust me when I say, it's for the best."
"The best for who?" Ben questions, stepping closer. He reaches out and gently cups her face, his gaze flickering across her face. "For you or me?"
Elisa hesitates, her eyes lingering on his. "For both of us." She whispered, placing her hand over his and pulling his hand away from her face.
"El, please." Ben pleads, his grip on her hand tightening. "Just…Please, tell me what's wrong. Just give me a chance to make it right. Whatever I did, just give me a chance to fix it. Please."
Elisa bites her bottom lip, struggling to hold back her tears. She can see the worry and hurt in his eyes, and her heart hurts. "I'm so sorry, Ben. I'm so, so sorry." She mumbles, blinking the tears away. "It's not you, okay? It's not. This isn't your fault, okay? I promise, this isn't on you. I just can't be with you. I'm so sorry."
Before Ben could reply, Elisa stepped away and turned, hurrying out of the garden. She ran away from the boy, trying to ignore the sound of him calling her name and the guilt that was eating her alive. She blinked away the tears that were starting to blur her vision as she made her way to the kitchen where she knew Mal was most likely waiting for her. They had to make the spell to break the love spell. One of the ingredients was a tear so she guessed it was a good thing she was crying right now.
She found Mal in the kitchen and immediately went to the stove, grabbing a pot. "We need to make the spell." She muttered, sniffling as she filled the pot with water.
"El?" Mal speaks up after a moment of silence, her voice laced with concern. "Are you okay?"
"Do you have the ingredients ready?" Elisa ignored the question, setting the pot on the stove.
Mal was quiet, looking at her friend with worry. She could see the tears in Elisa's eyes and she was frowning. "Yeah." She answers, grabbing the small bowl with the ingredients. She hands it to Elisa and watches as her friend puts the bowl in the pot. She then grabbed the spell book, opening it and showing the spell. "I wrote it down. All that it needs now is a tear." She said softly, a hint of concern and sympathy in her tone.
Elisa nods and grabs a spoon, scooping some of the potion. She holds the spoon out to her, but pauses, her lips twitching downward. "This will break the love spell?"
"Yes." Mal nods, narrowing her eyes at Elisa. "El, are you sure?" She asked again, wanting to make sure her friend was certain. She could see the confliction in her eyes and she knew something was wrong. Elisa hesitated, her heart aching. She could feel the guilt and pain in her chest and it was making it hard to breathe. She wasn't sure what was going on with her. Why was this so hard?
"El?" Mal speaks up, reaching out and placing her hand on her arm. "Talk to me. What's going on?" She could see her friend was having hard to breathe and her hands were shaking. She was concerned, not sure what was happening.
"I-I don't know." Elisa shook her head, a single tear sliding down her cheek. She wiped it off, letting it fall in the bowl with the other ingredients. Her breathing was uneven and she was trembling.
"Hey," Mal mutters, putting the spell book aside and stepping closer. "You're okay. You're safe." She assures, placing her hands on her friend's shoulders. "Deep breaths, okay? Deep breaths."
Elisa does as she's told, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She holds it for a moment before letting it out. She repeats this, trying to calm down. Mal had to admit she was worried for her. She dealt with this a few other times. The first one was when she first arrived at the Isle, and the others were when she had a nightmare. Elisa didn't like to talk about it and Mal wasn't going to force her.
Elisa eventually calmed down and opened her eyes. She took another deep breath and let it out. She locked eyes with her friend and frowned, feeling terrible. "I'm sorry." She muttered, her cheeks reddening in embarrassment.
"It's okay." Mal assures, smiling slightly. "Don't worry about it. Do you wanna talk about it?"
Elisa swallows hard, glancing at the bowl. She knew she couldn't avoid the conversation forever. She sighed, nodding her head. "I…I saw Ben."
Mal r0aises an eyebrow at that. "What? When? How did he find you?"
"Just a few minutes ago." Elisa explains, her gaze flickering across her friend's face. "He said he was looking for me. That he wanted to talk to me."
"El, you didn't tell him, did you?" Mal questioned, her tone turning serious.
"No, I didn't. I wouldn't do that." Elisa shakes her head, biting her bottom lip. "He noticed something was wrong, though. I-I think he suspects something is off. Which is understandable since I ran away from him. And-And when I tried to leave, he stopped me and pleaded with me to stay. He told me to tell him what's wrong, and that he wanted a chance to fix it. A-And I just…" She sighs heavily, leaning her head on Mal's shoulder. "I told him I couldn't be with him, that this wasn't his fault, and I'm sorry."
Mal frowns at hearing that, placing her hand on her back. "I'm sorry, El. I know this isn't easy. I know this hurts, and I'm sorry."
"No, I'm fine. It's okay. It's for the best, you know?" Elisa shakes her head, pulling back and wiping her eyes. "Besides, we have the plan, right? We're gonna get the wand, go back to the Isle, take over Auradon. So come on, let's get the spell ready." She murmured as she stood, walking back over to the table.
Mal sighed and stood up to follow her. She knew her friend was hurting and she wished there was something she could do to make things better. She just had to hope they could pull off the plan.

CHAPTER FIFTEEN, final chapter (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
After the celebration, Elisa was at her and Ben's spot in the woods. It was the clearing they always went to when they were younger. Wildflowers scattered the area, a pond with a small waterfall was located there. Trees surrounded the clearing, their branches shading the area. Elisa smiled softly and closed her eyes as the wind blew through her hair. It felt nice to get some peace and quiet. Especially after that celebration they had and what happened. Mal and the others explained to her what happened at the end and she was shocked to find out the truth. But she was relieved everyone was okay. She had been worried about them, but she was happy that they were able to get the wand and defeat Maleficent.
She looked down at her gloved covered hands and sighed. She wished she didn't have to wear them, but she knew the consequences if she didn't. It was a pain wearing gloves all the time. She was always so tempted to rip them off and never wear them again. But she couldn't risk losing control of her powers. And since her emotions could cause her powers to go out of control, she didn't want to put anyone at risk. So she had no choice but to wear them.
But something she noticed was that Ben was her anchor. Whenever he was around or just when she thought of him, she somehow managed to keep her powers in check. Maybe because her love for him and him loving her helped her stay calm. Either way, it was a relief that she didn't have to worry about losing control and hurting anyone. She was alone so maybe it wouldn't hurt to take them off for a while. Just a few minutes. She slowly and carefully took off her gloves, setting them on the ground next to her. She breathed a sigh of relief and stretched her hands, her fingers wiggling as she stared at her hands. It felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
She felt her powers tingling under her skin, coming to surface. She could feel the familiar rush of power flowing through her veins, and it was almost overwhelming. She took a deep breath, trying to concentrate on them. Soon blue energy surrounded her hands and she smiled. She concentrated her powers, grinning when she made a snowflake form in the palm of her hand. It was perfect. The edges were sharp and the details were clear. It was beautiful. She let it dissolve and formed another one. She held it up close to her face, staring at it in awe. It was like she had a little piece of winter right in the palm of her hands. It was amazing and beautiful. She was about to create another one when a voice broke her out of her thoughts, causing the snowflake to disappear.
"There's my girl. I was looking for you."
Her heart fluttered when she heard that familiar voice. Butterflies swarmed in her stomach as she felt his arms wrap around her from behind. He then placed a soft kiss on her neck, nuzzling his face against her skin. She couldn't help but lean back against him, enjoying the feel of him being there with her.
"Hi." She breathed out, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink.
"Hey, my love. I saw what you were doing with your powers. You always had such beautiful and amazing powers." He commented, kissing her neck again.
"Thank you, Benny." She murmured, her cheeks growing redder.
"Of course." He responds with a smile. He then took her hands, lifting them up. "I love it when you don't have your gloves on." He murmured, intertwining their hands together before letting them fall and rest on her stomach as his arms wrapped around her waist again.
Her heart skips a beat and her face turns warm. How could someone be so sweet? "Me too. It feels good not having them on." She admitted, looking down at their intertwined hands with a soft smile. She loved feeling his hand against hers without her gloves. She wondered how he didn't mind the coldness of her skin. As if knowing what she was thinking, Ben pulled away to gently turn her around to face him. He then takes hold of her hands, bringing them up to his lips. He pressed his lips against her knuckles, staring into her eyes as he does so.
Her breath hitches, and she stares at him with wide eyes. No one has ever looked at her the way he was now. She felt her heart racing and her face felt warm. He made her feel so many things, and she wasn't used to it. It was overwhelming, but also exciting. She watched him with a fluttering heart, a fond smile making its way onto her lips. He was always so gentle with her and sweet. He always made her feel special and loved. She felt butterflies in her stomach every time she was around him. It was a feeling she would never get tired of. It was such a simple thing, but it was making her feel so many things. The snowflakes lightly dusting their surroundings, adding a magical ambiance to their intimate moment.
When he was finished kissing her knuckles, Ben looks deeply into Elisa's eyes. His gaze was filled with love and admiration, and she could see how much he cherished her in his expression. He then pulls her closer, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his forehead against hers. "You know," He began softly, his voice barely above a whisper, "I've always thought you were amazing, Elisa. Your powers are just one part of what makes you so special. It's your kindness, your strength, and your heart that I love the most. I love you, my darling. You mean the world to me." He whispered.
She felt her heart skip a beat, and tears wells up in her eyes. She didn't expect him to say that. She blinks her tears away, overwhelmed by his heartfelt words. "Ben… I love you too, more than you'll ever know." She managed to whisper back, her voice filled with emotion. She leaned into his embrace, feeling safe and cherished in his arms.
Ben smiles fondly, his eyes softening with love. He gently cups her face, his thumb brushing away a stray tear that had escaped. "Then let's make a promise," He said softly. "No more gloves when we're together. I want you to feel free, to be yourself, without any fear."
Elisa's eyes widened slightly at his suggestion. The idea was both exhilarating and terrifying. Her heart pounded as all t he negative thoughts ran through her mind. She hesitated, torn between the longing for freedom and the fear of the consequences. Her powers were unpredictable without the gloves, and she had seen firsthand the havoc they could wreak. Yet, here was Ben, offering her something she had yearned for – a chance to be herself completely, without the constraints that had bound her for so long.
"But what if…" Elisa started, her voice barely above a whisper, her eyes flickering with uncertainty. Her powers pick up because of her emotions. Her powers were unpredictable without the gloves, and she had seen firsthand the havoc they could wreak. Yet, here was Ben, offering her something she had yearned for – a chance to be herself completely, without the constraints that had bound her for so long.
He leans forward, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. She closes her eyes, enjoying the feeling of his lips against her skin. It was such a simple action, but it helped soothe her a little, the snowflakes around them started to slow down and snow starting to slowly melt away. Ben didn't seem to care about the sudden change in the weather as he gently caresses her cheek with his thumb, his expression filled with understanding and reassurance. "I know you're worried. But I believe in you, Elisa. I've seen how you control your powers when you're with me. You're strong, and together, we can handle anything that comes our way."
Elisa gazes into Ben's eyes, finding solace in their depth and warmth. His touch was tender against her cheek, grounding her amidst her swirling emotions. She took a deep breath, letting his words sink in. "You really think so?" She whispered, her voice tinged with a mix of hope and uncertainty.
Ben nods, his thumb tracing gentle circles on her cheek. "I know so," He affirms, his voice unwavering. "You've shown me time and again how strong you are, Elisa. I believe in you, in us. But you have to take that first step for yourself. Trust in your own strength."
He leaned down and gently pressed his lips against hers. She kissed him back, her eyes closing as she savored the feeling. His lips were soft and gentle against hers, and it was making her heart race. He pulled away after a few moments and pressed his forehead against hers. They stared into each other's eyes, their hearts beating rapidly. He was the only one who could make her feel this way. The only one who could make her feel loved and special. She was his and he was hers. Nothing would ever change that. Snowflakes continued to fall gently around them, creating a serene atmosphere that seemed to echo the peace they felt in each other's presence.
"You know," She speaks up when they pull apart, their foreheads resting against each other. "I used to think I had a frozen heart. Like my mother thought before… But now, I think that might not be true." She admits, her eyes shining. "You make me feel so many things. Things I never thought I could feel." She confesses. "I always felt like I was different from everyone else. Like there was something wrong with me. But when I'm with you, I don't feel like that anymore. I feel loved and cherished. I feel like I belong." She confesses, a smile gracing her features. "You make me feel warm and happy. And Ben, you thawed my frozen heart. You helped me realize that I'm not a monster. That I'm capable of love and happiness. That I'm deserving of it. And I can't thank you enough for that."
He smiles at her, his eyes full of love and adoration. "Elisa, you deserve the world. You deserve to be happy and loved. And I'm glad I was able to help you realize that." He says. "And you're not a monster. You're far from it. You're a beautiful and amazing person. And I'm lucky to have you in my life." He whispered, his voice sincere and filled with affection.
Elisa's heart swells at his words, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears of joy. She wraps her arms around him, holding him close as if she never wants to let go. "Thank you, Ben," She murmurs softly against his chest. "Thank you for loving me, for seeing me for who I am."
He holds her just as tightly, resting his chin atop her head. "Always, Elisa. I will always be here for you, my love." He promises, his voice warm and reassuring. "So…" He starts, bringing his hands to hold her gloved ones. "Do you trust me enough to take that step with me?"
Elisa looks down at their intertwined hands, feeling a mix of nervousness and hope. She takes a deep breath, meeting Ben's gaze with determination. "I do trust you, Ben," She says earnestly, her voice steady despite the emotions swirling inside her. "But I'm so scared of what might happen if I take off the gloves."
Ben nods understandingly, his thumbs brushing lightly over the backs of her hands. "I understand, Elisa. It's okay to be scared," He reassures her, his voice soothing. "But remember how you feel when we're together. Remember how your powers respond to your emotions, especially when you're with me."
Elisa closes her eyes briefly, recalling the moments of calm and control she experiences with Ben by her side. "You're right," She murmurs, a small smile touching her lips. "I feel…Grounded, safe."
Ben leans forward, pressing a soft kiss on the back of her hand. "I'll be right here," He murmurs against her skin, his breath warm. "No matter what happens, I'll be right here."
Elisa takes another deep breath, feeling a surge of courage bolstered by Ben's unwavering support. With shaky hands, she pulled them away from Ben and slowly started to peel off her gloves, one finger at a time. Each finger released sent a shiver of anticipation down her spine, her powers tingling beneath her skin, eager to be unleashed yet tempered by Ben's presence. As she removed the last glove, she holds them tightly in her hands, feeling the coolness of the evening air against her bare skin.
Ben watches her intently, his expression a mix of pride and encouragement. He reaches out, gently cupping her face with both hands, his touch grounding and reassuring. "You're doing great, Elisa," He murmurs, his voice steady. "Just take it one step at a time."
Elisa nodded, swallowing back her nerves. She took a moment to center herself, feeling the energy within her swirl like a gentle storm waiting to be controlled. With a deep breath, she slowly extended her hands outward, palms facing up. Blue wisps of energy start to dance around her fingertips, shimmering like frost in the moonlight.
Elisa could feel the raw power surging within her, responding to her emotions but surprisingly stable, as if Ben's presence acted as an anchor. She concentrated, feeling the tingling sensation of her abilities under her control. With a determined yet cautious mind, she focused on shaping the energy, coaxing it into delicate forms. A gentle breeze whispered through the clearing, carrying the scent of wildflowers and the faint trickle of the nearby waterfall. Elisa's hands shimmered with a soft blue glow as she carefully molded the energy. With a steady hand and a heart full of resolve, she began to weave intricate patterns in the air, forming delicate snowflakes that sparkled like stars.
Ben stood by her side, his eyes filled with admiration and love, silently supporting her every step of the way. He knew the significance of this moment for Elisa, the liberation she sought from the constraints of her gloves. His belief in her abilities never wavered, and now, as he watched her create beauty with her untamed powers, he felt a swell of pride. Each snowflake took shape under her fingertips, each one a testament to her growing confidence and control. They hung suspended in the air, ephemeral yet mesmerizing, reflecting the moonlight in a dazzling display of magic. Ben watched in amazement as Elisa's powers manifested gracefully, each snowflake she crafted holding a unique beauty. They hung in the air like crystalline stars, a testament not only to her abilities but also to the trust and love she shared with Ben. He stood beside her, watching with awe and pride, his heart swelling with admiration for her strength and determination.
As Elisa continued to weave her magic, Ben reached out and gently took her hand in his, intertwining their fingers. His touch was warm against her cool skin, a symbol of their connection amidst the magic swirling around them. Elisa is startled slightly at the sudden feeling of his hand holding her bare hand, her heart rate spiking and her powers fluttering momentarily in response. She glanced at Ben, finding reassurance and love in his gaze. He smiled at her warmly, his eyes reflecting pride and affection.
"You're doing amazing, Elisa," Ben murmurs softly, his voice filled with admiration. "I always knew you could do this."
Elisa's heart swelled at his words, her cheeks flushing with happiness. She took a deep breath, her focus returning to the delicate snowflakes dancing around her. With Ben by her side, she felt grounded and secure, able to explore the extent of her powers without fear. The snowflakes continued to twirl in the air, casting a soft glow around them as they celebrated this moment of newfound freedom and trust.
Ben cups her face in his hands and leans down to press his lips against hers. It was a soft and gentle kiss, and it made her heart flutter. He pulled away after a few moments, smiling at her. "There's something I wanna give you." He murmured against her lips, pressing a soft kiss there.
"What is it?" She whispered.
He pulled away and reached into his pocket. He then took her hands and gently placed something in them. A small box. She looked at him with a questioning look, but he only gave her a fond smile. She opened the box and gasped, her eyes widening. It was a beautiful ring, made of gold and silver. The diamond shined in the light, and the snowflake designs on the sides of the ring were intricate. It was a breathtaking sight.

"It's beautiful." She breathed out, her eyes wide with surprise and awe.
"I had it made specifically for you." He says, a smile on his face. "The design and everything. And I also had Fairy Godmother use her magic on it to make it worked the same way as your gloves. So, now you don't have to wear the gloves if you don't want to. You can just wear this ring and control your powers with it."
Tears welled up in Elisa's eyes as she looked at the ring in awe. It was the most thoughtful and meaningful gift she had ever received. "Benny, this is… I don't even know what to say. Thank you so much." Her voice trembled with emotion as she threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly. She never had anyone go through all the trouble for her. And to make her a ring so she wouldn't have to worry about her gloves? It was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for her.
Ben hugs her back just as tightly, his heart swelling with love for her. "You don't have to thank me, my love. I just want you to be happy." He whispers, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "And I want you to feel free to be yourself. You shouldn't have to hide who you are or be afraid of your powers."
Elisa pulls away slightly to look up at him, her eyes shimmering with tears of gratitude. "You've always accepted me for who I am, Ben. And I can't thank you enough for that." She said, her voice filled with love and sincerity. "This ring means more to me than you'll ever know. It's not just a symbol of our love, but it's also a symbol of your acceptance and understanding of me. And I'll cherish it always."
Ben smiles at her, his eyes shining with love and adoration. He was so relieved she loved the ring. It meant a lot to him, too. He wanted her to be comfortable and free. And if the ring helped her do that, then he was glad he had it made. He leans down and presses a soft kiss to her lips, his hands coming up to cup her face. He whispers against her lips, "I love you, Elisa. And I'll always be here for you, no matter what."
Elisa's heart swells with love and gratitude as she returns his kiss, wrapping her arms around him tightly. "I love you too, Benny." She whispers, her voice trembling with emotion. "And I'll always be here for you, no matter what. We're in this together." She mumbled against his lips.
Ben pulled away after a few moments and presses his forehead against hers, his hands still cupping her face. They stare into each other's eyes, their hearts beating rapidly. This was a moment they would never forget. Elisa wanted to try to wear the ring without the gloves so she pulls away from him. Ben watched her with curious eyes as she removed her gloves. She was a bit nervous, but she knew she could trust him. He had been accepting of her from the start.
Taking a deep breath, she then set the gloves on the ground next to her before carefully putting the ring on. As Elisa slid the ring onto her finger, she felt a surge of power coursing through her. It was different from the sensation she felt when wearing her gloves. It felt more natural, more intimate. As if the ring was connecting with her very essence, her very soul. The ring fit perfectly, and it looked absolutely stunning. Elisa held her hand out, admiring it in the sunlight. She smiled brightly, feeling a sense of freedom she hadn't experienced in a long time. She looked up at Ben, her eyes sparkling with happiness.
"Thank you, Ben," She said, her voice filled with gratitude. "This means more to me than you'll ever know."
Ben's smile widens as he watched her, his heart swelling with love for her. "You deserve the world, Elisa," He said softly, reaching out to gently caress her cheek. He felt his heart flutter when she leaned into his touch, her eyes closing. He was so happy that he had been able to do this for her, and he couldn't wait to see how she would embrace her powers now. He wanted her to be free, to be herself. And now he hoped that this ring would help her do that. "And I'm so glad I was able to do this for you." He added, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
Elisa felt her heart swell with love and adoration for the boy standing in front of her. He was so sweet and loving, and she was so grateful to have him in her life. She felt tears welling up in her eyes as she gazed at him, her eyes shimmering. She could feel her powers coursing through her, her fingertips tingling. But somehow she had more control than she did with the gloves. She reached up and cupped his face in her hands, her eyes locking with his.
"Ben, you've always accepted me for who I am, even before we started dating," She said, her voice trembling with emotion. "You've never judged me or looked down on me, and you've always supported me. You're the most amazing person I've ever met, and I'm so lucky to have you in my life." Tears slipped down her cheeks, and Ben gently brushed them away, his heart bursting with love and admiration for her.
"I love you so much, Elisa," He whispers, his eyes shining with love and devotion. "You're the most incredible person I've ever known, and I'm so grateful to have you in my life." His words sent her heart aflutter, and she leaned forward, pressing her lips to his in a passionate kiss. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close as he returned her kiss. She melted into his embrace, closing her eyes as she savored the feeling. It was the best feeling in the world, being in his arms. She could feel her heart racing as his lips moved against hers, and she felt a warmth spreading through her. He always had this effect on her.
After a few moments, she reluctantly pulled away, resting her forehead against his as she gazed at him, her eyes sparkling with love and adoration. "I love you so much, Ben," She murmurs. Her eyes lit up as she realized something. "Wait, I have something for you too." She said, a bright smile on her face.
He looks at her with a curious gaze. "Oh, yeah?"
"Yes. I made something for you, too." She replied with a blush. She pulled a small box out of her pocket and handed it to him As Ben takes the small box from Elisa, he looks at her with a mixture of curiosity and excitement. With gentle fingers, he opened the box, revealing its contents. Inside lied were three bracelets attached to each other, one being a beaded bracelet with blue, black and gold beads. The other two bracelets were more simple, all black, but one had a gold bar in the middle of the other bracelet.

Ben's breath hitches, and his eyes widened. "Elisa, this is..." He trails off, his voice filled with awe and wonder. He had never received anything so beautiful and meaningful. "Thank you." He said softly, his heart overflowing with love for her.
Elisa smiles, a light blush dusting her cheeks. "Do you like it?" She asked, her eyes filled with hope and uncertainty. She fidgeted with the ring Ben gave her, feeling a surge of happiness and nerves coursing through her. She had put so much thought and effort into making the bracelet, wanting it to be perfect for Ben. She hoped he liked it.
Ben's eyes were filled with love and adoration as he looked at her, then back at the bracelet. "Elisa, I love it," He said, his voice filled with sincerity. "You didn't have to make anything for me, but this is... Wow." He didn't even have the words to describe how touched and happy he was. He didn't know what he had done to deserve such an incredible and thoughtful gift. "I have never gotten anything like this before. Thank you, my love." He murmured, pulling her into a warm embrace.
She sighs contently, relaxing in his arms. He always made her feel safe and loved. She rests her head against his shoulder, a small smile playing on her lips. "I'm so glad you like it, Ben." She whispered, closing her eyes. She was so happy that he liked the gift. It meant so much to her, and she was glad that he was happy.
"I love it," He replies, his voice thick with emotion. He pulls away, gazing at her. "How did you even come up with this idea?" He asks, curiosity gleaming in his eyes.
Elisa smiles. "Well, I was looking through some old books in the library, and I came across this book on gemstones. And the stones in this bracelet are sapphires, which represent wisdom and intelligence. And the diamonds represent honesty and integrity. I thought the meanings were fitting." She said, a hint of pride in her voice.
Ben looks at her in awe. "You really put a lot of thought into this, didn't you?"
"Of course I did," She replies, a light blush tinting her cheeks. "I wanted it to be perfect for you." She adds, her heart racing. "I love you, Benny."
"I love you too, my love. Forever and always." Ben immediately said and he leaned forward, pressing his lips to hers in a passionate kiss. Elisa's eyes flutter shut, and she kissed him back, her arms wrapping around him. She could never get enough of him, and he couldn't get enough of her. He loved her more than anything, and he would always be there for her, no matter what. And the same could be said for her. As they stand there in each other's embrace, surrounded by the beauty of nature, they know that their love will only continue to grow stronger with each passing day. And as long as they have each other, they can overcome any challenge and face any obstacle, together.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
"Go away, mother!" Mal told her.
Maleficent laughs. "She's funny." She snorts, shaking her head. "Oh, I'm so…You're very funny here." She turns to face Elisa and gestures for her to give her the wand. "Wand me. Chop-chop."
"No!" Ben shouted worriedly when Elisa acted as if she was handing her the wand. At the last second, she tossed the wand to Fairy Godmother, who caught it and held it tightly.
"Bibbidi-Bobbidi-"
"Boo!" Maleficent interrupted Fairy Godmother's spell and used her magic scepter to freeze everyone but Elisa and the four VKs. Everyone looked around in surprise and shock, their movements restricted. Elisa looked around with surprise to see everyone was frozen. No one moved or spoke, their faces etched with shock, fear, concern or worry. She looked back at Maleficent, her gaze hardened. Maleficent was amused by their reactions and laughed, looking over at Elisa.
"You are such an impressive girl." She tells her. "That was a little neat trick you pulled there, but unfortunately, not good enough." She smirked and turned to Adam, beginning to mess with his frozen form.
Elisa's gaze hardened as she glared at Maleficent. She wanted nothing more than to knock the smug look off of her face, but she knew she couldn't. At least not yet. She paused, glancing down at her gloved covered hands. Well, maybe she could freeze her and put an end to her reign of terror once and for all. She clenched her fists, feeling a surge of determination coursing through her veins. But before she could make her move, Maleficent turned her attention back to her.
"You know, dear, you could have been so much more," Maleficent taunts, her voice dripping with disdain. "But you chose to align yourself with these insignificant fools." She gestured towards the VKs and Ben with a derisive sneer.
Elisa's jaw tightened, her gaze flickering with defiance. "You call your own daughter an insignificant fool? Wow, mother of the year goes to you." She sarcastically stated.
"Silence!" Maleficent snapped, glaring at the blonde.
"Make me." Elisa challenged, her gaze not wavering from Maleficent's.
"As you wish." Maleficent sneered.
Before Elisa could react, Maleficent casted a spell that made Elisa disappear. The four VKs watched in shock, gasping when she disappeared as Maleficent cackled maniacally. They looked around worriedly for their friend, wondering where she had disappeared to.
"Mom!" Mal scolds, glaring at Maleficent. "Where did you send her?"
Maleficent shrugs. "Who knows, but it's none of your concern. It's not like you four ever really cared about her. She was merely a means to an end for you."
"That's not true!" Mal protests, her voice filled with anger and frustration. "Elisa is our friend. She's always been there for us."
Maleficent rolls her eyes. "Oh please, spare me the sentimentality. You've never cared about anyone but yourself, so don't try and fool me."
Mal growls. "That's where you're wrong! Just because we came here to take the wand doesn't mean we stopped caring about her. We've been through a lot together, and she's always had our backs. We may have made mistakes, but Elisa has always been a true friend to us."
Maleficent scoffs. "How pathetic."
"She's not pathetic!" Carlos argues, speaking up despite the fear and uncertainty in his voice. "She's been nothing but kind and compassionate to us. She has believed in us even when we didn't believe in ourselves."
Jay nods, stepping forward. "Yeah, she's part of our family, whether you like it or not."
Evie, her voice shaking but determined, adds, "She's always seen the best in us, even when no one else did. Elisa is a true friend, and she doesn't deserve whatever you've done to her."
Maleficent's eyes narrowed as she listened to the VKs defend Elisa. Their words only seemed to make her bored and disinterested. "Such touching loyalty. But your words won't bring her back." She turns to her daughter. "You know what's ridiculous? I was going to let you rule the kingdom by my side. But now, I see that was just a foolish dream. Falling in love is something else that's ridiculous." She scoffed as she turned to mess with a frozen Parker. "It's not what you want."
"You don't know what I want!" Mal responds, her eyes brimming with tears. "Mom, have you ever once asked me what I want?" She questions, worry filling her while she watched her mom walk over to where a frozen Parker was. How did she know Parker meant something to her? Probably because of the fact he didn't hesitate to rush over to protect her. Now he was stood frozen by her since Maleficent had frozen everyone before he could get to Mal. "I'm not you!" She added, her voice growing louder.
Maleficent rolls her eyes. "Obviously. I've had years and years and years of practice being evil. You'll get there."
"No, I will not. And I really wish that you had never gotten there yourself." Mal admits while she sniffled. "Love is not weak or ridiculous." She couldn't help but glance over at Parker as she said that. "It's actually really amazing."
Maleficent narrows her eyes at her daughter. "I know one thing, young lady. You have no room for love in your life!" She tells her and she turns to face Parker. "He made you weak and vulnerable. Love is a weakness, Mal. It's a distraction. It clouds your judgment and makes you forget your priorities."
Mal shakes her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. "No, you're wrong. Love makes you stronger, not weaker. It gives you something to fight for, something worth sacrificing for."
Maleficent scoffs, waving her hand dismissively. "You're just a foolish girl who doesn't know what's best for her. But don't worry, I'll take care of everything. I'll make sure you forget all about this silly little crush of yours."
Mal's eyes widen in horror as her mom aimed the wand at Parker. "And now I command, wand to my hand!" She shouts, hoping that her spell would work. A breath of relief left her when she felt the weight of the wand in her hand. "It worked!" She gasped, and she gripped it tightly and quickly moved to stand between her mom and Parker, her expression fierce.
"I hardly think so. Frankly, this is tedious and very immature. Give me the wand. Give me the wand!" Maleficent ushered, getting angry now.
"Hold on, Mal." Carlos chimes in, stepping closer to Mal. "Maybe good really is more powerful than evil."
Maleficent laughs. "Oh, please! You're killing me." She barked, thinking Carlos was still scared of dogs. Dude suddenly ran into the castle, barking as he ran at Maleficent and jumped on her. Maleficent gasped and quickly got him off. While she was distracted, Jay went over to try to grab her scepter from her.
But Maleficent caught what he was doing and kept him from taking it. Jay grunts as he tries to take it from her, but Maleficent's strength was no match for his. She leans forward, smirking at him as she placed a hand on his arm. "Gaston should be jealous." She then flicks Jay's forward, causing him to fall backwards while Maleficent pulled away from him. "Enough! You all will regret this!"
The four VKs are shocked as Maleficent formed into a large purple dragon, causing them to gasp and back up. Jay gets off the floor, staring at it with wide eyes. Maleficent shoots fire at him, causing him to quickly jump out of the way. He tried to outrun Maleficent, but she kept blocking his way. Before Maleficent could get him or any of them, Evie was quick to step forward with her magic mirror, aiming it at Maleficent. "Magic mirror, show your bright light!" A bright light shot out of the mirror and fell to the floor as she had trouble seeing.
"Behind me, E!" Mal warns, pushing her behind her. "Leave my friends alone! This is between you and me, mother. The strength of evil is good as none, when stands before four hearts as one." Her eyes begin to glow green just like her mother's. They continue to stare each other down, trying to overpower each other with their magic. Mal stumbled back with shock when her mother suddenly shrunk into a lizard.
Fairy Godmother gasps when she's suddenly unfrozen. Mal smiles with relief along with her friends, the four of them running over to her. "What just happened?" Carlos questioned, confused by what had happened.
"I have no idea." Mal responded.
"Did you do it?" Evie wondered.
"I don't know." Mal replied.
"No, no, no, no. Your mother did. She shrank to the size of the love in her heart. That's why it's so itty bitty." Fairy Godmother explained, meeting the group half way.
"Is she gonna be like that forever?" Mal inquired, bending down to the lizard.
"Well, forever is a long time. You learned to love. So can she." Fairy Godmother reassured her.
Mal smiles, chuckling softly as she nods. "I believe this belongs to you." She said, handing the magic wand to her.
"You all have earned ourselves an 'A' in Goodness class." Fairy Godmother commented, earning chuckles from the group.
"Wait, Elisa! She's still gone! We don't know where she went." Mal worriedly spoke.
"Don't worry, I'll bring her back and change everything back to normal." Fairy Godmother assures her with a smile. She then waves her magic wand around, using her powers. "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!"
Elisa gasps, stumbling as she appears back in the castle. She looked around with confusion, her gaze falling on Mal and her friends. "What happened?" She questioned, seeing how everyone was looking confused.
"It's a long story." Mal replies, sending her a reassuring smile. "We'll explain it to you later. Are you okay? Where were you?"
"I'm fine." Elisa assures her. "But, uh, I'm not exactly sure where I was." She admits. "I was in this dark place, and then suddenly I was here." She frowned, trying to recall what happened. She remembered that she had been about to confront Maleficent, but then everything else was a blur.
"The important thing is that you're okay and that you're back." Carlos told her with a smile.
"Yeah, don't worry, we will explain to you what happened earlier." Mal assured her and she nodded in response.
Elisa looks over with surprise when Ben suddenly started roaring as he ran forward. Elisa was quick to stop him with a chuckle. "Benny, its okay. They got it all taken care of."
Relief crosses his features and he lets out a sigh. Elisa is surprised when he suddenly picked her up, wrapping his arms around her as he twirls her around. She giggles and blushes as she wraps her arms around his neck, smiling brightly. She smiles and gazes into his eyes, her heart fluttering as he stared lovingly back at her. He set her back down carefully and leaned forward to kiss her forehead. She blushed at that sweet gesture and decided to reach up and make his crown crooked on his head. He gave her a lopsided smile at that and chuckled, straightening his crown. She giggled and smiled up at him.
They pulled away to go over to their friends as one of the servants brought over the glass cover that kept the magic wand in it and placed it over Maleficent. "Careful!" Mal warns him. "That's my mother!" The servant bowed in response and backed away.
Mal then joins her friends with a smile. "Let's get this party started!" Jay suggested with a bright grin and they all grinned back at him, voicing their agreements.

CHAPTER THIRTEEN (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
Elisa couldn't believe she was here now. She was sitting in a carriage with Ben on the way to the castle. People were cheering and waving at them as they went by. Elisa was all dressed up for the special occasion just like Ben was. She wore a blue sparkly dress that was long and flowed beautifully. She wore matching blue flats and her makeup was simple yet elegant. Her blonde hair was curly, part of it was pulled back and braided. She wore some blue rings that matched her outfit and her nails were painted to match the dress.
Ben was dressed in a fancy tuxedo and looked very handsome. He smiles at Elisa, taking her hand in his. "I'm glad you're here with me."
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else," Elisa admits, smiling shyly and tries to forget about her and her friend's plan. She just wanted to focus on just them right now. She can worry about that later. She couldn't help but admire how good Ben looked in his tux. He was handsome, there was no denying that, and he looked even more handsome tonight. "I'm glad we get to share this moment together."
"So am I." Ben grins, lifting her hand and kissing her knuckles gently. Elisa blushes, her heart racing at the gesture. She can't believe how romantic Ben is, and how sweet he is. She's never met a guy like him before, and she's glad she gets to experience this moment with him. "You look stunning, by the way. If I hadn't said that yet."
"You've said it a few times already, but thank you," Elisa giggles, her cheeks flushed. "You're very handsome, too." She smiled at him, feeling a rush of happiness and excitement. She couldn't believe she was here, sitting next to Ben, on their way to the castle for the coronation. It felt like a dream come true.
As the carriage continues on its way, Elisa's mind wanders to the task ahead. She couldn't shake off the nerves and anxiety that were building up inside her. The mission was risky, and the outcome uncertain. But she knew she had to stay strong, for herself and for her friends. They had come too far to give up now.
Ben notices the shift in Elisa's demeanor and squeezes her hand gently, bringing her back to the present. "Hey, are you okay?" He asks, concern evident in his voice. "You seem a little tense."
Elisa takes a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. She looks at Ben, his eyes filled with worry and warmth, and she finds herself relaxing a little. "I'm just nervous about this...Being up front and all. In front of the crowd." She mumbled, her gaze falling to her lap. She knew that wasn't the only reason, but she wasn't sure if Ben could handle hearing the full truth.
Ben frowns, moving closer to her. He cups her face gently, making her look up at him. "Hey, it's okay. You don't have to be nervous. I'm here, and I won't let anything happen to you. I promise."
His words soothe her, and she leans into his touch, her heart skipping a beat. She knows she can trust him, and that makes her feel a little less scared. She smiles softly at him, grateful for his presence and support. "Thank you, Ben. That means a lot."
"Anything for you, my love." He murmured, his gaze locked on hers. She felt a wave of warmth and happiness wash over her, and she can't help but fall a little more in love with him. His eyes are filled with affection and admiration, and it makes her feel like the luckiest girl in the world. After hearing him call her 'my love' the first time, she loved the way the words rolled off his tongue and sounded. They sounded like a beautiful melody in her ears. Her face burned from blushing so much, and her heart was pounding so hard she swore he could hear it.
Ben was about to lean in and kiss her, but before he could, the carriage came to a halt, signaling they arrived. He sighs in disappointment but gave her an apologetic smile. "Looks like we're here."
"Seems so." Elisa replied, disappointed as well. She wanted nothing more than to kiss him and to stay in this moment forever. But she knew that wasn't possible. As she looked at the castle, her nerves and anxiety returned. She knew she had a job to do, a mission to fulfill. And she couldn't let her feelings for Ben distract her from that.
"Are you ready?" Ben asks, concern evident in his voice as he helps her out of the carriage. He could see she was still tense, and he wanted to make sure she was okay. His thumb brushes across her knuckles gently. "You can do this. I know you can."
Elisa takes a deep breath and nods. "I can do this," She repeats, trying to convince herself. "I can do this." She wasn't sure if she believed her words, but she knew she had to try. She had to stay focused and stay strong. For Ben, for her friends, and for the sake of the mission. She couldn't afford to let her emotions get the best of her.
Ben smiles softly and leans over to kiss her cheek. "That's my girl," He murmurs, his voice filled with pride. "You're going to be fine. I believe in you." Her heart fluttered as he called her 'his girl' and his words gave her a sense of strength and confidence. She felt like she could take on the world with him by her side. He made her feel brave, and she was grateful for his support. She gives him a shy smile and a nod, ready to face the challenge ahead.
As they make their way towards the entrance, they're greeted by a sea of faces. People are smiling and cheering, and Elisa can't help but feel a little overwhelmed. She felt herself shrink back towards Ben, who placed a protective hand on her lower back, giving her a reassuring smile. He leans over and whispers in her ear, "Don't worry, I've got you." His breath is warm against her skin, sending a shiver down her spine. He tightened his grip on her, offering her comfort and support as they make their way through the crowd.
Elisa clings to Ben's arm, feeling a sense of security in his presence. She takes a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves as they walk up the stairs. Trumpets are played while they walk up to greet Ben's parents, who were near the entrance. She bowed in front of them to show respect, and they did the same. Belle's smile was bright and welcoming, and it made her feel a little less anxious. "It's wonderful to see you again, Elisa," Belle tells her, her voice warm and comforting. "You look lovely tonight."
"Thank you," Elisa replies, smiling politely as she felt her cheeks grow warm. "You look beautiful as always."
"Aren't you sweet?" Belle smiles warmly at her, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "I'm so glad Ben brought you here."
"As am I." Adam spoke up, his tone slightly more stern, but his gaze was kind.
"Look, about what happened at Family Day-" Elisa started to apologize, but Adam interrupted her.
"I told Ben this wasn't going to be easy."
"You also taught me that a king has to believe in himself." Ben speaks up. "Even when it isn't easy."
"I did?" Adam looks a bit surprised as if he forgot. Belle hits his arm and he quickly adds, "I...How very wise of me." He stammered. Elisa smiled a little, slight amusement shining in her eyes.
Ben steps away from Elisa when his mom walked over to him. She smiles fondly at him, taking hold of his hands. "Ben, we are very proud of you. You keep listening to your heart."
Ben's lips curl up into a smile and he nods. "Thanks, mom."
Belle nods in response as she steps back, smiling at him. She then glances at Elisa with a warm smile. "We're very proud of you too, dear. And we're deeply sorry for what happened..." She adds, her expression turning to apologetic. "If we had known the truth of how you lost control of your powers-"
"No, it's okay." Elisa quickly interrupts her, smiling nervously. "It's water under the bridge now. Don't worry about it." She assured the queen, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. She knew the incident still weighed heavily on their minds, but she didn't want to keep dwelling on the past. She wanted to focus on the future and move forward.
Belle smiles at Elisa, giving her a grateful look. "You're too kind, my dear. We're happy to have you here. Believe it or not, we missed you while you were gone."
Elisa smiles back, feeling a warmth in her chest. "Thank you, your highness. I missed you guys as well."
"Oh, please, you know you can call me Belle." Belle reassures her. "I've watched you grown up, after all. You're like family."
Elisa feels her heart swell with affection, touched by Belle's words. "Thank you, Belle. I think the same way. I appreciate that."
Belle's smile grows wider and she nods, stepping back. "You're going to make a fine king." Adam assured his son, patting him on the back. Ben smiled wide at his dad, relieved that he said that. Belle then took Adam's hand and led him away, giving Ben and Elisa some space. Ben turned to face Elisa, taking her hand in his.
"You doing okay?" He asked softly, concern etched on his face. "I know this is a lot to take in."
Elisa nods, squeezing his hand reassuringly. "Yeah, I'm okay," She replies, offering him a small smile. "Just a little nervous, but I'll be fine. As long as you're by my side."
Ben returns her smile, his eyes filled with warmth and affection. "Always," He murmurs, leaning in to brush a gentle kiss against her forehead. "I'll be right here with you every step of the way."
Elisa's heart flutters at his words, feeling a surge of gratitude for having him in her life. She leans into his touch, finding comfort in his presence. "Thank you, Ben," She whispers, her voice barely above a whisper. "For everything."
Ben's smile softens, his gaze locked on hers. "Anytime, my love," He replies, his voice filled with sincerity. "I mean it."
There her heart goes again, pounding rapidly against her chest. She feels butterflies in her stomach, and her cheeks burn from blushing. She never gets tired of hearing him say those words, and it makes her fall even more in love with him. "I know you do," She whispers, her eyes filled with adoration. "And that's one of the things I love most about you."
Ben's eyes widen, surprise and delight shining in his eyes. "You...Love me?" He asked, a hint of disbelief in his voice.
Elisa blushes deeper, realizing what she had just admitted. She hadn't planned on confessing her feelings, but the words had just slipped out. She was surprised, and slightly terrified, by how natural the words had felt coming from her lips. As if they were always meant to be said. But now that she had said them, she couldn't deny the truth any longer.
"Yes," She replies, her voice soft but filled with conviction. "I do."
Ben's face breaks into a wide smile, his eyes shining with joy and adoration. He takes her hands in his, holding them tightly. "I love you too," He confesses, his voice filled with emotion. "So much."
Elisa's eyes widened, and her heart swelled with love and happiness. She never imagined that her confession would be met with such enthusiasm, and it made her fall even more in love with him. Ben leans over and kisses her deeply, pulling her close. She kissed him back, savoring the moment and cherishing his embrace. Neither one wanted to pull away, but they were standing in front of everyone and the coronation was about to start.
Reluctantly, Ben pulls away, but his smile doesn't waver. "After the ceremony, meet me at our spot," He tells her, his voice filled with excitement and anticipation. "I have something I want to give you."
Elisa blinks, surprised and curious. She didn't expect that. But she was flattered and now really curious. "Really?" She asks, a hint of wonder in her voice. "What is it?"
Ben smiles playfully, winking at her. "It's a surprise," He teases, his voice laced with amusement. "You'll just have to wait and see."
Elisa's curiosity grew, and her heart raced. She wondered what he had planned and what it was he wanted to give her. But she trusted him and knew he had something special planned. "Okay, I can't wait."
Ben grins, his gaze filled with affection and excitement. "I'll see you soon, my love," He murmurs, his voice tender. "Wish me luck."
"You don't need it," Elisa assures him, smiling brightly. "You're going to be amazing."
Ben smiles back, his eyes filled with love and gratitude and he ignores the blush forming on his face. He brings her hand up and kisses her knuckles, a gesture they both had become fond of. "Thank you," He murmurs, his voice thick with emotion. "You're the best."
Elisa's heart melted and she smiled warmly at him. She's glad she gets to share this moment with him and can't wait to see what he has planned. He gives her one last kiss on the cheek and turns to walk up the rest of the stairs after composing himself. She admired him with how he walked up, her heart filling with love and admiration for him. When he reached the top, he looked back at her and gave her a wink before entering the castle. Elisa smiled, her cheeks still flushed from their exchange. She turned to one of the servants standing nearby who was waiting to take her inside and took their hand, following them inside. He led her to the front where she would be at to watch the coronation. She thanked him before he left and looked out at the crowd. The entire town was there and she felt her nerves and anxiety creep up. But she knew she had to push those feelings aside. This was Ben's moment, and she wanted to enjoy it.
She looked over at the balcony where her VK friends were at, all dressed up as well. They all looked great, but she noticed they all had either nervous or somber expressions. She then realized they all really didn't want to do this. They didn't want to steal the wand, break the barrier and take over Auradon. She noticed during the time they were here, they fell in love with the place and some people, but just wouldn't admit it. She sighed softly and gave them a weak smile. They returned it with a half-hearted wave. She glanced around the room again, spotting Parker, Krystal and Ryker near their families. When the trio noticed her looking at them, they smiled brightly and waved at her. She smiled a little and waved back at them. But her attention was brought to the double doors when they opened. Ben walked down the aisle, looking absolutely handsome in his prince attire.
She couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, her heart fluttering. She knew he was going to make a wonderful king, and she couldn't be prouder of him. When he made it to the end, he turned to look at her and smiled brightly, making her blush. He winked at her before turning to face Fairy Godmother, who was standing on the small platform where the magic wand was. He knelt down onto his knees as Adam leaned over, allowing Fairy Godmother to take his crown. Elisa eyed the magic wand nervously, fidgeting with the ring she wore. She knew she had to take it at one point but was still hesitant. She hoped it wouldn't come down to it.
"Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?" Fairy Godmother asked, her voice loud and clear after she placed the crown on Ben's hand.
"I do solemnly swear." Ben replied, his voice steady and confident.
"Then it is my honor and my joy to bless our new king." Fairy Godmother smiled as she held up the magic wand, gently hitting one shoulder and then his other to knight him as king.
Gasps filled the room when the wand was yanked away from Fairy Godmother. A bright electricity bolt shot out from it, shooting out and breaking the barrier on the Isle. Everyone backed away in fear as they watched Jane hold the magic wand. Little bolts of electricity were emitting from the wand while Jane struggled to have a hold on it.
"Child, what are you doing?" Fairy Godmother exclaimed, looking at her daughter with surprise and worry.
"If you won't make me beautiful, I'll do it myself!" Jane responded.
Everyone backs away as the sparks began to get out of hand. Ben didn't hesitate to rush over to stand in front of Elisa to protect her. He outstretched his hands, trying to shield her as much as he could. "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!" Jane shouted, trying to get control of the magic wand, but she was having trouble.
Adam stands in front of Fairy Godmother and Belle to protect them while Fairy Godmother tried convincing Jane to give her the wand. "Take cover!" Adam called out to the guests when the sparks were getting closer to them. Elisa was afraid and anxious, but she knew what she had to do. She pushed past Ben, earning a confused and worried protest from him as she ran over to Jane. She managed to grab the wand from Jane, the sparks suddenly stopping. Elisa breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look at the wand, her grip tight on it. Her breathing became heavy as her heart pounded in her chest. Jane's eyes widen as she looked at her, fear and worry etched on her face. She then turned and ran to the side where Lonnie quickly pushed her behind her to protect her. Ben was quick to stand in front of Elisa, his hand outstretched for her.
"Elisa, please. Give me the wand." He begged, his voice pleading. Elisa's gaze was fixated on the wand, her mind racing. She didn't know what to do. She wanted to give him the wand, but she also knew she couldn't. If she gave him the wand, everything would be ruined. She had to stay focused and stay strong, no matter what.
"I can't," Elisa's voice is barely above a whisper, her heart aching. "Stand back, Ben."
The doors burst open as the four VKs ran down the aisle to Elisa, the four of them standing behind her. "Elisa," Ben speaks up, taking a cautious step forward. "Give me the wand. You don't have to do this."
Elisa's resolve begins to crumble as she looks into his eyes, her heart breaking. She loved him so much, and the last thing she wanted to do was hurt him. But she knew she had no choice. "Ben, please, just stand back!" She raised her voice, earning some surprised gasps from the crowd.
Audrey steps forward, glaring at Elisa. "I told you she couldn't be trusted!"
Elisa anger and frustration for Audrey returns at that and she looks at Audrey with an icy glare, aiming the wand at her. Audrey gasps at that, quickly stepping back. "I wouldn't test me right now, Audrey." Elisa threatens, her voice low and dangerous. "Don't push me." She turned back to Ben, her face softening. She didn't' realize the four VKs stood behind her until she heard them speak up.
"Let's go!" Carlos weakly encouraged.
"Revenge time." Jay added, but it sounded hesitant.
"You really want to do this?" Ben asked, looking at Elisa. He could see the turmoil in her eyes, the conflict between her love for him and her sense of duty. He wanted to reach out to her, to comfort her and assure her that everything would be okay. But he knew he couldn't. Not right now. They were in the middle of a crisis, and they needed to focus on resolving it.
Elisa's grip on the wand tightened, her heart heavy with guilt and sorrow. She wished things could be different, that she didn't have to make this choice. But she knew she had to do what was right, no matter how difficult it was.
"I'm sorry, Ben," She murmurs, her voice trembling with emotion. "But I have to do this. I-We have no choice."
"That's where you're wrong, Elisa." Ben counters, his gaze intense and determined. "There's always a choice. And I know you'll make the right one." He glances at the four VKs. "You guys aren't your parents. Your parents made your choice. It time to make yours." The four teens looked at him with surprise as they realized he was right.
"I think I want to be good." Mal is the first to speak up, surprising everyone and even her self.
"You are good." Ben told her.
"How do you know that?" Mal questioned, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Because I'm listening to my heart." Ben replied, his voice soft and reassuring.
Mal stares at him for a moment, her expression conflicted. Then she finally says, "I want to listen to my heart too. And my heart is telling me that we are not our parents." She turns to face her friends, her expression softening. "I mean, stealing things doesn't make you happy." She starts, glancing at Jay with a small smile. "Tourney, victory pizza with the team and being with Krystal makes you happy." She told him, a hint of affection in her voice.
Jay was a bit surprised, but he nods in agreement as a hint of blush appeared on his face. Almost as if it was on instinct, he looked out into the crowd for Krystal, who blushed as her gaze met his. They exchanged small smiles, their hearts skipping a beat. Mal then looks over at Carlos with a small chuckle. "And you, if scratching Dude's belly make you happy, who would've thought?"
She glances at Evie with a small smile. "And Evie, you do not have to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart. And I don't want to take over the world with evil. It doesn't make me happy. I want to go to school. And be with Parker." She adds, her gaze falling on the brunette-haired boy in the crowd, who looked at her with surprise. "Because Parker makes me really happy." Parker's heart fluttered at that, his face turning red as he blushed. He couldn't believe that Mal just confessed her feelings for him. And in front of everyone, too.
Mal looks over at Elisa, glancing at her and the others with a smile. "Us being friends makes me really happy. Not destroying things. I choose good, you guys." She put her fist in the middle, looking hopeful hat her friends will join her.
Elisa is silent for a moment, her hands now at her sides as her grip loosens on the wand. Her eyes are filled with uncertainty, but her resolve begins to falter. She knows deep down that Mal is right. Being friends with her and the others makes her happy, and she doesn't want to give that up. She knew she had always been good deep down and never wanted to cause harm to anyone. Well, maybe besides Audrey and Chad, but still. She glances over at Ben, her heart skipping a beat as she gazed into his eyes. He was looking at her with so much hope and love, and she knew that no matter what happened, he would always be there for her. She looks at the wand, debating her next move. Should she take Mal's advice and choose good? Or should she go through with their original plan?
After a moment, Elisa finally makes her decision. She walks up to Mal, placing her fist next to hers. "I choose good too."
Soon the rest of their friends followed, but Carlos was the last one and the most hesitant. He voiced how worried he was about how their parents would be mad at them. Ben then reassured them that their parents couldn't reach them there which sealed the deal for Carlos. Elisa gestured to Ben with a nod of her head to join them, smiling softly at him. He returned the smile and stood by her, placing his fist next to hers and Mal's. She smiled softly and leaned her head on Ben's shoulder. Her heart skipped a beat when he leaned over and kissed the side of her head. Everyone cheered and applauded the group, but the happy moment doesn't last long when suddenly green smoke entered the room. Everyone stepped back in fear and gasped as Maleficent revealed herself.
"I'm back!" She announced dramatically.

CHAPTER TWELVE (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
Later that day, Elisa was sitting at one of the picnic tables eating lunch with her friends. They were all quiet and tense from what happened at Family Day earlier Elisa couldn't shake off the events from her mind. She felt a heavy weight pressing down on her chest, a mixture of guilt, anger, and frustration. She glanced around at her friends, seeing the same emotions reflected in their eyes.
Mal sat next to her, her usually confident demeanor replaced with a somber expression. Across from her, Evie picked at her food, her usual bubbly energy dampened by the day's events. Jay sat on the edge of the picnic table, his jaw clenched as he stared off into the distance, lost in his own thoughts. And Carlos, who was usually the one to lighten the mood with his jokes, sat quietly, his gaze fixed on his plate. No one spoke for a while, the silence heavy and suffocating. Elisa wanted to say something, to break the tension that hung in the air like a thick fog, but she didn't know where to start. She felt responsible for what happened, for not being able to control the situation better.
"Guys, I hate what happened earlier." Ryder sighed as he walked over to the table with Krystal and Parker. The three felt awful about what happened and wanted to offer their support to their friends. Elisa looked up at him, grateful for the distraction from her own thoughts.
"Yeah, it was a disaster," Parker chimes in, taking a seat next to Mal. "But we're here for you guys. To be honest, we always disliked Audrey and Chad, so we're not surprised by what they said."
"And she's also an idiot," Krystal scoffs as she stood by Jay. "So is Chad." Her face turns sympathetic as she looked at the four. "They had no right to say what they did. They're wrong about you guys. We know you're not evil and you don't deserve what they said."
Mal lets out a dry chuckle. "You have no idea." She says, a hint of bitterness in her voice. "I wish I could prove that we're not evil. Show them that we're not like our parents." Parker placed a comforting hand on Mal's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. Mal tensed slightly at the contact but soon relaxed and allowed the boy to comfort her. She couldn't deny that his touch was comforting and made her feel less stressed. She found herself leaning into his touch and was surprised at how nice it felt.
"It's not your fault, Mal." Elisa speaks up, giving her friend a reassuring smile. "You did nothing wrong. None of us did. It's their fault for not understanding and being so narrow-minded." She sighs. She glances around at her friends, her heart heavy with empathy for each of them. "But you're not evil." She continues, her tone firm. "No matter what anyone says, no matter what anyone thinks, we know the truth. We know who we are and that's all that matters."
Evie nods, sending her a thankful smile. "You're right, El. Thank you. Oh, hey, do you want your ring back?" She asked curiously, opening her purse and taking out the ring that she wanted her to hold earlier that day.
Elisa smiles a little and nods, taking it from her. "Of course. Thanks, E." She slid the ring back on her finger and sighed. It felt nice to have it back. The ring meant a lot to her and was important to her. After getting back with Ben, it felt better to have it on again. She jumped, startled when she suddenly felt hands on her shoulders. But she quickly relaxed after realizing it was Ben. Her heart skipped beat as she felt him kiss the top of her head.
"Hey, guys. How is everyone?" Ben questioned with a small smile.
"Did you forget what happened earlier?" Krystal narrows her eyes at him, placing a hand on her hip. "Or do you just not care?" Jay wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him.
"Hey, chill." He muttered, sending her a warning look. Krystal pouted but remained quiet. She tried to ignore how her heart raced at the sudden touch and she couldn't help but lean into his warm embrace. She was surprised by her body's reaction to him, but she didn't want to pull away. She was enjoying the feeling too much.
"Of course I care. That's why I'm here. I wanted to see if you guys were alright." Ben replied to Krystal's question, taken aback by her sudden attitude. He had expected her to be supportive, like the rest of their friends. He understood that she was probably just frustrated, like the others, but it still hurt a little.
Elisa looks up at him, offering him a reassuring smile. "We're doing the best we can."
Ben nods, his face softening as his hands gently squeeze her shoulders to comfort her. "I get it. But I'm here for all of you, no matter what. I'm sorry for what Chad and Audrey said, they were out of line and had no right." He glances around at the other four. "It's not true. You guys are not evil and you're not like your parents. Tomorrow after the coronation, I promise that everything will be okay." He looks back down at Elisa, leaning down to kiss her cheek. "I have to go, but I'll see you guys later." He whispered to her before turning to walk away.
"Ben," Elisa calls out, quickly standing up and grabbing his hand. She gently pulls him back and cups his face, kissing him deeply. He's surprised at first, but soon melts into the kiss and wraps his arms around her, pulling her closer. When they pull away, their foreheads pressed against each other. They were both breathless, and their hearts were racing. "Thank you. For everything."
As Ben walks away, Elisa's friends exchange looks of surprise and amusement. Parker lets out a low whistle while Mal grins mischievously. Evie nudges Elisa playfully, her eyes twinkling with excitement. "Looks like someone's got it bad." Ryker teased, earning a light smack on the arm from Elisa.
"Shut up, Park," She replies, cheeks flushing pink. "I just…Wanted to thank him, that's all."
"Mhm, sure," Mal smirks. "Just admit it. You're head over heels for him."
Elisa rolls her eyes, fighting the smile threatening to spread across her face. She knew there was no point in denying it, but she didn't want to give her friend the satisfaction of being right. "I will admit no such thing."
"Whatever you say, Lisa." Krystal giggled, looking at her cousin with amusement.
Elisa shakes her head and turns her attention back to her food. But no matter how hard she tried to concentrate, her thoughts kept drifting back to Ben. She couldn't help the smile that formed on her face or the way her heart fluttered at the thought of him. She knew she was in deep, and she didn't care. Being in love with Ben was the best feeling in the world, and she never wanted it to end.
"Listen, Evie, I wanted to talk to you about-"
"Doug!" Chad interrupted Doug, who had came over to try to talk to Evie. Doug glanced back at Chad, who sat at a nearby table. He had woken up after a few moments passed from when he was hit with the knock out perfume but Elisa wished he would've stayed knocked out longer. Chad sent him a warning look, gesturing with a nod of his head for Doug to sit with them. Doug hesitated, glancing back at Evie, who look upset and apologetic.
"It's my fault, Doug. I'm so sorry." She murmurs, frowning when he started to back away. "Doug…"
"Sorry, I can't." Doug apologized, avoiding her gaze. He turned and went back to the table where Chad was sitting, leaving Evie staring after him as her shoulders dropped in defeat. Elisa frowned, looking at Evie with sympathy. She knew how much the two cared for each other and that Evie was starting to have a crush on Doug. The last thing she wanted was for Evie to get her heart broken.
"Hey, cheer up, E." Ryder said, trying to lift her spirits. "You're better off without him. Trust me."
Evie sighs, shrugging a shoulder. "It's not just him. It's the whole school. Everyone thinks I'm a cheater and a gold digger. And who's going to want to date someone who's the daughter of the Evil Queen?" She shook her head sadly, looking down at her lap.
Ryder's heart clenches and he places a hand on her shoulder. "Don't listen to them. They're wrong. You're beautiful and smart, and any guy would be lucky to date you. And you're not a cheater or a gold digger, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Evie is surprised when her heart fluttered at his touch and words. She looks at him with a shy smile. "Really? You mean that?"
"Of course," He replies, returning her smile. "You're an amazing girl, Evie. And anyone would be stupid not to see that."
The compliment warms her heart and makes her blush. She looks at him with a small grin. "Thanks, Ryder." She reaches over and takes his hand, squeezing it. Ryder's heart skips a beat and he returns the squeeze, smiling at her. "I really appreciate that." She added.
Elisa watches the exchange with a knowing smirk. She wasn't surprised by her friend's reactions. It was obvious to her, and to the rest of the group, that the two were interested in each other. She knew for a fact Ryder had a crush on Evie, but with Evie hanging out around Doug more and having a crush on him, she wasn't sure if the feeling was mutual. But from what she was witnessing, she could tell the feeling was definitely mutual. Or at least starting to be.
"Well, well, well," A snooty, condescending voice interrupted their laughter and teasing. They all turned and saw Audrey walking towards them with a smug grin Jane. "Look who it is. The little ice princess and her band of misfits." Audrey sneers, her tone dripping with disdain. "What are you doing here, Elisa? Shouldn't you be back on the Isle where you belong?"
Elisa clenches her jaw, her grip tightening on her fork as she glares at Audrey. She was tired of her constant taunts and insults. But before she could respond, Mal stood up from her seat, her eyes blazing with anger. "Back off, Audrey," Mal growls, stepping in front of Elisa protectively. "You have no right to talk to us like that."
Audrey scoffs, rolling her eyes. "Please, like I'm scared of you. You're nothing but a bunch of losers."
Krystal steps forward, glaring at Audrey. "Oh yeah? Well, at least we don't spend our time talking bad about people and spreading lies. That's the sign of a true loser." She shot back, trying to take another step closer, but Jay gently pulled her back to his side. His thumb was rubbing soothing circles on her hip and she couldn't help but relax a little. The touch effected her so much that she almost forgot how angry she was. Almost.
"Excuse me?" Audrey snaps, looking at her incredulously. "What did you just say?"
"I said, you're a liar and a coward," Krystal repeats, her voice steady despite the anger simmering beneath the surface. "You have no right to judge us or anyone else. You don't know anything about us, so why don't you just mind your own business?"
Audrey's face turns red with rage, and Elisa can see the vein pulsing in her temple. She looks like she's about to explode, but before she can respond, Jane steps in, placing a hand on her friend's arm. "Come on, Audrey. Let's not waste our time on these losers." She shot a condescending smirk at Elisa and her friends before dragging Audrey away.
Krystal continues to glare at Audrey's retreating figure, trying to pull away from Jay to chase after her. Jay tightens his grip on her waist, keeping her close. "Relax, Krystal," He whispers, his voice low and soothing as he leans over to whisper to her. His lips brush against the shell of her ear, making her shudder and her stomach flip. "She's not worth it. You're better than her."
Krystal closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down. She could feel her body slowly relaxing under his touch, and her anger slowly melting away. She let out a sigh, leaning back against his chest. She can't deny how safe and comfortable she feels in his arms, and she allows herself to enjoy the feeling for a moment. She opens her eyes and finds herself staring into his, her breath hitching. She had never noticed how beautiful his eyes were before, but now that she was so close, she could see the flecks of gold in them, and the way they seemed to shine with warmth and understanding. Her heart skipped a beat and she quickly tore her gaze away, trying to calm herself down.
"I'm sorry," Krystal mumbles, looking up at Jay apologetically. "I didn't mean to lose my temper."
Jay smiles softly at Krystal, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "It's okay, Krystal. I understand. Audrey can be really infuriating sometimes." He pauses, his thumb gently caressing her cheek. "But you handled it well. I'm proud of you." His voice is gentle, filled with sincerity, and Krystal feels her cheeks flush with warmth at his words.
"Thanks, Jay." She murmured, leaning into his touch. She feels a sense of comfort and safety in his embrace, something she hadn't felt in a long time. Despite the chaos of the day, being with him made everything feel a little bit better. Elisa watched the exchange between Krystal and Jay with slight amusement but also with a small smile on her face. She knew they liked each other, and she was happy to see them getting closer. She could tell their relationship was growing and changing, and it was clear they had a connection. She was excited to see where things would go.
But her anger for Audrey and the other girls was still simmering beneath the surface. Elisa took a deep breath, trying to let the anger dissipate. She glanced around at her friends, who were all still dealing with their own emotions from the day's events. The support from Ryder, Krystal, and Parker had been a balm, but the pain and frustration from Audrey and Jane's cruel words lingered.
"Beware, forswear, undo Jane's hair." Mal mumbled after opening her spell book. She did the spell easily and soon a terrified shriek is heard from a group of girls nearby.
They glance over to see Jane's new curly and neatly done hair style was changed back to her original haircut that was a simple bob cut. She had a look of horror and shock on her face as the others stepped back with a laugh. Elisa rolls her eyes, not understanding why the other girls thought the haircut was horrible. She thought it was cute.
Mal stands up with her fellow VK friends, turning to face the other students near them. "There's a lot more where that came from."
"Excuse me, who do you think you are?" Audrey sneered, putting a hand on her hip.
"Do I look like I'm kidding?" Mal glared at her and opened her spell book, startling the others. They quickly backed away and then started to leave, afraid of the girl.
Mal closes the spell book and glances over at Parker, Ryker, and Krystal, who looked at her with a mix of surprise and impressed looks. "We're gonna head out, you guys…But thank you for your support." She tells them. They all nodded and voiced their understanding. Elisa stands and follows her friends as they began to leave. "I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Let's grab that wand and blow this popsicle stand." Mal suggested once they were out of ear shot from anyone else.
Elisa suddenly felt a sense of dread and fear. The weight of their mission suddenly dawning on her. Tomorrow was the big day. It was either going to be a success or a complete and utter failure. Her hands started to shake and she tried to swallow the lump in her throat. She had to do this. She couldn't let the others down. They were counting on her.

CHAPTER ELEVEN (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
As Family Day continued, Elisa was loving spending time with her family. It was nice to be surrounded by those who love her and supported her, especially after spending so much time on the Isle. But when there was a sudden commotion by the croquet field, she quickly excused herself from the conversation she was having with her parents and Jax to go see what was going on.
She approached the area, finding Mal talking to Queen Leah, Aurora's mother. She grimaced and quickly approached the two, standing besides Mal. She placed a comforting arm on the teen, startling her but she then relaxed after realizing who she was. She looked back at Queen Leah and Audrey, who was holding her grandma's hand. Fairy Godmother had came over when Queen Leah suddenly raised her voice. Elisa quickly realized that she thought Mal was her mom.
"Queen Leah, don't worry, this isn't Maleficent. This is her daughter, Mal." She explains, smiling reassuringly at her. "Don't you remember Ben's proclamation?"
"How could I not remember? I heard what you did to my granddaughter, Ice Princess." Queen Leah glares at her. "You tried freezing her! And her friend! You should've never been allowed to leave the Isle. We all would've been much safer if you stayed there. Rotting, along with the rest of your friends."
"Hey! Watch it." Jax snapped, quickly standing beside Elisa and glaring at the Queen.
"You should be locked up with them on the Isle." Queen Leah replied as she glared at him.
"He doesn't even have any powers." Elisa retorts, trying to keep calm. "So, shut your mouth. Before I make you." She couldn't help but feel anger rising in her, her power wanting to come out. She wanted to freeze her, show her just how powerful she was. But she didn't.
"Why should I? You're the one who should be locked up." Queen Leah hisses, stepping forward and jabbing her finger against her chest. "You're the one who put my granddaughter in danger. You should've never been let off the Isle."
Fairy Godmother quickly chimes in, trying to diffuse the situation as Ben quickly joins them. He stands at Elisa's side, wrapping a comforting arm around her waist. She felt herself begin to relax a bit at his touch.
"Queen Leah, I assure you, everything is under control. These kids are not their parents. And Elisa didn't mean to loss control of her powers that day." Ben tried to reason with her, but she wasn't having it.
"That doesn't change the fact that she almost killed Audrey and Chad!" Queen Leah snapped.
"Audrey and Chad are idiots." Mal huffed, rolling her eyes.
"Do you know the real reason why I lost control? It was because of them!" Elisa glares at Audrey, who just glared back at her. "They taunted me and got under my skin. It was their fault I lost control. Not mine."
Queen Leah looks surprised at this, glancing at her granddaughter and frowning. Audrey avoids her gaze, shifting uncomfortably. Elisa couldn't help but feel a small twinge of satisfaction. It was true, it was their fault that she had lost control. She was getting sick and tired of getting blamed for something she had no control on.
"Regardless, you're still a threat." Queen Leah continues, looking back at Elisa. She glances at Mal. "You and all your friends are still threats."
Nearby, Elisa's and Jax's family were watching the scene and they weren't happy at all. Elsa had to keep a tight grip on Jack's hand before he tried making any reckless decisions. Jack was livid, wanting to protect his daughter from this woman. But his wife kept him back, not wanting him to cause a scene.
"Queen Leah, please. I can assure you that everyone is safe here. There's no reason to be afraid." Fairy Godmother tried to reason with her, giving her a strained smile. She didn't like the way Queen Leah was talking about Elisa. She had always been fond of the girl, she was sweet and kind. It was a shame that her powers had gotten the better of her that day, but she wasn't mad at her. She understood how hard it must've been for her, how much stress and fear she was under.
"You can't guarantee that." Queen Leah replies, crossing her arms over her chest. "She almost killed Audrey and Chad." She looks at Elisa, glaring daggers at her. "What if something else triggers her? What if she loses control again and freezes the whole kingdom? Like what her mother did."
That was the last straw for Anna. "Okay, let me at her!" She tried to walk away to walk over to Queen Leah, but Kristoff quickly grabbed her and held her back.
"Woah, woah, woah! Anna, no." He says, trying to hold her back. But she kept trying to pull away, glaring daggers at Queen Leah. "Calm down."
"Don't tell a woman to calm down." She hisses, still glaring at Queen Leah. "Let. Me. Go."
"Anna, calm down." Kristoff says, pulling her closer and wrapping his arms around her. "Don't do anything rash. You're gonna make more of a scene than there already is." He kept his arms wrapped around her to prevent her from doing anything and was relieved when she didn't try to fight him anymore. He didn't like what Queen Leah was saying about his niece and sister in law either, but he wasn't going to risk anything.
Elsa could feel her resolve getting weaker and was tempted to go and put an end to this. She hated hearing someone talk like that to her daughter. And then claiming that her daughter would do the same thing she did? That was just preposterous.
"Elisa's not like me." Elsa said, her voice stern and filled with anger. "She has more control of her powers than I did at her age. She's worked hard to learn to control them, and she would never intentionally harm anyone." Elsa steps forward, her icy gaze locked with Queen Leah's. "You have no right to judge her based on her parentage. She is her own person, and she deserves to be treated with respect and understanding."
Queen Leah looks taken back by Elsa's words, a hint of fear showing in her eyes. She was intimidated by her, and she should be. If Elsa was angry, then she should be terrified. She was the Snow Queen, after all. "Elsa…" Jack muttered, staring at his wife with wide eyes. He had only seen her this angry a handful of times. It was quite frightening. He had to admit he was a bit scared of her himself, but he knew she would never hurt her loved ones. He kept a hand on her waist, his thumb rubbing soothing circles against her hip.
Elsa had to admit his touch helped calm her down, but she was still pissed. She had a feeling her powers were close to bursting. She could feel a chill radiating from her body. She had to remain calm. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. "I suggest you leave my daughter alone. You have no idea what she went through and you have no right to judge her for her actions." She turns to leave, her husband following behind her.
Queen Leah frowns and scoffs. "Of course. Run along and hide behind your wife. Coward." She mutters.
Jack quickly stopped and spun around, his glare icy. "What did you say?"
"Jack, don't." Elsa says, placing a hand on his arm. She could see that he was trying to hold himself back, and she could feel his rage. It was scary, his fury. She could feel her husband's anger growing and knew she had to do something before he did. "It's not worth it. Let's just go."
"I'll say this." Queen Leah began, smirking. "It's no wonder why Elisa has such poor control over her powers. Her father is nothing but a coward. No wonder she is a villain."
Before anyone could stop him, Jack had shoved past his wife and storms over to Queen Leah. Ben and Jax had to quickly jump in front of him to hold him back. "How dare you?!" Jack shouts, glaring daggers at the older woman. He tries to break free, but the boys had a tight grip on him. "You have no idea what I went through! And you have no right to talk like that to my daughter!"
Elisa was surprised and touched by her father's reaction. It had been so long since she had seen him angry. She had almost forgotten how scary it was. But now, it was directed at someone who was talking bad about her and her family. And she couldn't be more grateful. She walks up and gently takes a hold of her father's arm, his angry gaze landing on her. "Dad, don't. She's not worth it."
Queen Leah looks over at Ben with disbelief. "How could you let these kids leave the Isle?" She glances at Mal with a glare. "My daughter was raised by fairies because of your mother's curse. So, her first words, her first steps, I missed it all!" She turns away with crossed arms, looking at Fairy Godmother pleadingly. "You mustn't trust her. Or any of them."
"Hey, I'm so-" Mal stepped forward, looking genuinely apologetic as she tried to apologize.
Chad was quick to step in, standing in front of her. "Go away! Stay away from her!"
"Don't do this, Chad." Ben warned.
Elisa notices at this point everyone was watching them. Her other friends had came over with worry and concern on their faces. Parker was standing by Mal to comfort her which she thought was sweet. She knew the two had gotten close during their time together. Parker clearly cared for the girl no matter what people may think. Jay, Carlos, and Evie, had joined them, standing behind them and watching with mixed expressions. Elisa had to admit, she hated how everyone was watching them. She had grown up under the watchful eyes of the people of Arendelle, being the princess and future queen. She was used to people staring and watching her, but that didn't stop her from not liking it.
"What? They were raised by their parents, Ben. What do you think villains teach their kids? Huh? Kindness? Fair play? No way, okay? Uh-uh." Chad scoffs, shaking his head. He glances at Elisa, who still stood by her dad and brother. "You stole another girl's boyfriend, plus you almost froze me and Audrey, ice princess."
Anger and frustration flashed in Elisa's eyes and she felt her dad move to take a step forward, but she quickly held him back. She shook her head, silently telling him to not bother. She was just as mad as he was, she knew the rest of their family were upset too but they couldn't make more of a scene than they already did.
Ben stands in front of Elisa, blocking Chad's view of her. "Chad-"
Chad ignores him, glancing over at Mal. "You're lucky you and your little friends are not back on the Isle where you belong." He looks over at Jay next. "You enjoy hurting people." He then glances at Evie with a harsh expression. "And you, you're nothing but a gold digger and a cheater."
At that, Elisa had trouble holding herself back. How dare he talk to her friends like that?! "Mirror, mirror, in my hand, who's the biggest jerk in the land?" Evie said to her magic mirror before showing it to Chad, revealing his face on it.
"What? Come on!" Chad scoffed and shoved her away.
Jay quickly steps in, grabbing the front of Chad's collar. "Back off, Chad."
The scene quickly became more chaotic as others tried to get Jay off Chad. Evie had pulled out the perfume bottle with the potion that was for the limo driver. She sprayed it at Chad, causing him to fall limp into Doug's arms. Elisa was frozen in shock as she watched the scene. It all happened so fast, and she couldn't believe how quickly things escalated. She felt a mixture of emotions swirling inside her—anger, frustration, and worry. She knew her friends were only trying to defend themselves, but she also knew that their actions would only make matters worse.
"El, come on!" She felt a tug on her hand, pulling her away from her family and she stumbled after her friend. She then realized it was Jay who was dragging her away. He had an arm wrapped around her waist, keeping her close. As they made their way out, Elisa glanced over at her family, seeing their worried and confused expressions. She looked over at Ben, seeing he looked surprised, confused, and worried about what was going on.
As she passed him, he reaches out and grabs her arm, gently pulling her back. He didn't let her go as the others kept going, he could tell she was distressed and wanted to make sure she was alright. Elisa turns and her heart fluttered at seeing the worry and concern in his eyes. "I'm fine," She whispers. "I'll catch up with you later, okay?"
Ben looked like he wanted to say something, but just nodded. He gently squeezed her hand, a silent message that told her everything was going to be alright. She wasn't sure how, but she hoped that was the case. She squeezed his hand back before pulling away and following Jay, who had waited for her. She quickly caught up with him and the two continued on.
That was for sure one way to end Family Day. She just hoped things wouldn't get worse.

CHAPTER TEN (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
The next day, Elisa had managed to avoid Ben the entire morning, not wanting to see him. But unfortunately, it didn't last long. Because it was Family Day and Elisa had to be there. She arrived with her friends, anxiously fidgeting the ring Ben gave her around her finger. It felt like she was walking to her death. She felt nervous and she knew if Ben talked to her, she wouldn't be able to avoid him.
When she entered the room, her eyes immediately scanned the yard, spotting the prince. He was with some other students, preforming just like they always did at the beginning of Family Day. But as if he could sense her gaze, as he sang, his eyes flickered towards her. They stared at each other, and Elisa swallowed hard. She averted her eyes, forcing herself to look away.
"Come on." Evie nudged her, linking her arm with Elisa's and dragging her away. Elisa let her friend drag her, following her through the crowd. Evie lead her over to a table where food was, and Elisa's stomach grumbled at the sight. She didn't eat anything today and she was starving.
She noticed the boys were already eating, taking a liking to the chocolate fountain. She wasn't surprised and she couldn't blame them. She loved chocolate. "Wow, you guys really are hungry." She chuckled, her gaze lingering on the strawberries. She had a weakness for chocolate covered strawberry.
"Chocolate makes everything better." Jay hummed, shoving another chocolate covered strawberry in his mouth.
Elisa chuckles and her gaze went back to the strawberries. She reaches out, her eyes lighting up at the thought of having one. But then she saw the ring on her finger and her mood fell. She pulls her hand back and wraps her arms around her torso. "Right." She nodded with a heavy sigh as her heart clenched.
She was starting to regret wearing that ring. Every time she looked at it, all she could think about was Ben. She just wanted to make this pain stop. She didn't want to feel like this. Why was this affecting her so much? She didn't even like him. Sure, he was kind and sweet and handsome and she loved being around him, and his hugs were nice, and his kisses-
"Hey," Evie speaks up, looking at her with concern. "El, Mal said you had a panic attack last night." Elisa snaps out of her thoughts and turns to glare at Mal, who shrugged in response. Evie continues, turning back to her. "Are you okay?"
"Evie, I'm fine. It's no big deal." Elisa rolls her eyes, her gaze falling on the chocolate covered strawberry. She looks back at the ring on her finger and hesitates before she took it off, handing it to Evie. "Can you hold onto this for me?"
"What?" Evie questions, her eyes widening in surprise. "I thought you loved that ring. Why don't you want to wear it anymore?"
"Because every time I look at it, I think about him." Elisa sighed, her heart clenching. She didn't want to be reminded of Ben. Not right now. Not when the plan was happening soon. She needed to focus.
Evie nods in understanding, her gaze softening. "El, are you sure-"
"Please, just take the ring, E." Elisa interrupts, holding it out. She really didn't want to discuss this right now. "Just for now. Until we go back to the Isle."
Evie was quiet for a moment, her eyes flickering between the ring and her friend. She finally sighs, nodding her head. "Alright, fine." She agreed, taking the ring and slipping it in her her purse.
"Thanks." Elisa smiled slightly before her gaze goes back to the strawberries, and she can't help but lick her lips.
"Here." Jay chuckles, offering her the plate with chocolate covered strawberries, causing her eyes to widen. He laughs, looking at her with amusement. "El, you've been eying these since we got here. Go ahead, have one. Or ten. Whatever you want."
Elisa hesitates, not wanting to take his food. But then her stomach growled and she gave in, reaching out and taking one. "Thank you." She smiled at him, taking a bite. She couldn't help but moan, her eyes closing as the chocolate and fruit taste hit her tongue. She forgot how much she missed eating these. There wasn't anything like this on the Isle. Something she learned quickly. Well, she already had an idea of how bad things were on the Isle. But seeing it in person was different.
"I see someone's having fun." A familiar voice spoke, and Elisa's eyes snapped open. She looked up and her breath hitched, her heart skipping a beat as her eyes met Ben's.
"Ben, hi." Elisa managed to say, swallowing hard as her heart fluttered. Why did he have to be so handsome?
"Hey." Ben smiles at her, his gaze soft. He glances over at her friends with a hopeful smile. "Do you guys mind if I steal her for a moment?"
Panic rose in her chest, her mind immediately going back to last night. Her heart was pounding and her palms were sweaty. She could feel her fight or flight mode kicking in, and she desperately wanted to run away. But before she could do anything, Ben was gently taking her hand, and she found herself following him. Her body was working on auto-pilot, her brain still panicking. She followed Ben, her heart racing as they walked over to a table. She was tense and she was sure Ben could feel her hands shaking.
"Are you okay?" Ben questions, stopping and turning to her. Concern filled his gaze and he frowns. "You're shaking."
"I-I'm fine." Elisa muttered, avoiding his gaze as she pulls her hand away. She wrapped her arms around her torso and cleared her throat, her gaze flickering around the garden.
Ben's frown deepens, his gaze softening. He hesitates before he reaches out and gently cupped her face, turning her to him. "El, what's going on? Last night, you ran away from me and then you told me you can't be with me." He pauses, his heart aching. "Did I do something wrong? Because if I did, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. Please, just tell me what's wrong." He pleaded, his thumb gently brushing her cheek.
"No, it's not you, Ben." Elisa shook her head, closing her eyes. She swallowed hard and took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.
"Then why can't you be with me?" Ben asks softly, his thumb brushing her cheek. "Was it something else? What was it? Please, just tell me. Let me fix it. I want to be with you, Ellie. I thought you wanted to be with me, too. So, please, just tell me."
"Ben," Elisa opens her eyes and pulled his hand away from her face. Her grip on his hand tightened, not wanting to let him go. But she knew she had to. She couldn't let him get hurt. Not again. "I can't. I'm so sorry, but I can't."
"Why?" Ben questions, his gaze flickering across her face. "I know you feel something, El. I know you do. This isn't just on me, I know you care. Why won't you let yourself be happy?"
"Because it's not real!" Elisa snaps, tears brimming her eyes. "It's not real, Ben. This, us, it's not real."
"Yes, it is. I know it is." Ben shakes his head, his thumb caressing her hand. "We have something, El. I know you feel it."
"No, Ben, you don't understand. It's not real. It's a spell." She mumbles, reluctantly pulling away. "I'm so sorry. I should've never even agreed to it. I shouldn't have let myself fall for you. I should've never fallen for you. I-I didn't-I didn't want this to happen."
"Wait, hold on, wait." Ben mutters, his eyes widening with surprise. He steps closer, reaching out put a comforting hand on her shoulder. He was confused by what she was talking about, but he could see her beginning to panic and he needed to calm her down. "Slow down, okay? Just slow down. Take a deep breath."
Elisa starts to relax at his touch, his thumb was rubbing soothing circles on her shoulder. She takes a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. Ben waited, giving her a moment before he spoke again. "Now what was that about a love spell? Wait…Did you use it because I was with Audrey? And you weren't sure it could happen on its own?" He tried to guess, hoping that would help explain things.
Elisa hesitates, biting her bottom lip. "Ben…" She mumbles, her cheeks reddening in embarrassment. "Y-Yeah, yeah, you're right." She decided to go along with what he said, not wanting to tell him the whole truth. She couldn't. "I-I used the love spell to get your attention. I know it was wrong, and I shouldn't have done it. But it wasn't just because you were with Audrey, either. I-I did it because I liked you. And I have way before I was sent to the Isle. Just being apart made those feelings grow, and-and when I got back, I couldn't fight it. A-And I was jealous and upset seeing you and Audrey together. I know I had no right to feel that way or to use a love spell on you, but-"
She let out a surprised noise when suddenly, Ben was cupping her face and pulling her into a kiss. It was different from their other kisses, though. This one was slow and passionate, and Ben was making sure Elisa knew how he felt. She could feel all the love and emotions and she felt the same. But she couldn't let herself get carried away.
"W-Wait." She muttered, reluctantly pulling back and taking a step away. Her lips were still tingling and her heart was pounding, her knees felt weak. But she couldn't lose focus. Not now.
"You're worried I'm only kissing you because of the spell." Ben says, his eyes full of determination. "But I'm not. I'm kissing you because I love you. I knew this whole time you put me on a love spell."
Her eyes widen and her heart continues to race. "So…So, what, you just been pretending? This whole time, you've been pretending?"
"No, of course not." Ben shakes his head, taking a step closer. "El, I've always felt something for you. And when you came back, my feelings only grew. They became stronger, and I fell in love with you. I wanted to tell you, but I was afraid. Afraid of losing you. Plus I was with Audrey and I didn't want to hurt her." He pauses, his hands reaching up to cup her face again. "And then the love spell happened, and yes, I was mad. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I didn't care. I couldn't care less that you used a love spell on me. It didn't change the fact that I loved you."
Elisa felt a warmth grow inside her, and she couldn't help the smile that formed on her lips. He was willing to forgive her for using the spell. He wasn't angry with her. She couldn't believe it. "Really?" She murmurs, her hands coming up to rest on his waist. "You-You don't care? You forgive me?"
"Of course I forgive you." Ben smiles at her, leaning down. He was so close, their noses were brushing against each other. "I love you, Ellie. Nothing's gonna change that. Even a love spell."
"W-Wait, how did you know this whole time?" She questioned, her heart fluttering at his touch and her face turning red. She couldn't believe how close they were. If she moved just a bit, their lips would be touching again. She was tempted, but she was curious about how he found out.
"The love spell washed off in the Enchanted Lake at our first date." Ben explains, his thumbs gently caressing her cheek. "But that still didn't change the fact that I had feelings for you. My feelings were real. This whole time, this was real."
"O-Oh." Elisa blushes, her heart warming. "S-So, um…What does that mean?"
"It means," Ben starts, leaning closer. "I still want you to be my girlfriend. I still want to be with you. What do you say?"
Elisa bites her lip and closes her eyes, thinking for a moment. Ben's touch was comforting, his fingers were caressing her skin. He was being patient, letting her make her choice.
She took a deep breath, trying to decide. She could feel his breath on her lips, he was so close. And she didn't want to pull away. She did want this. She wanted to be with him. But she was still afraid. Afraid of the plan she and her friends have, but also afraid of getting hurt. She knew her answer. She opened her eyes and her gaze flickered between his. He was staring at her, waiting. She didn't say anything, instead, she closed the distance and kissed him. Ben didn't hesitate, his lips moving in sync with hers. His hands moved from her face, down her sides and settled on her hips.
Elisa pulled him closer, wrapping her arms around his neck. Her fingers ran through his hair and his arms tightened around her, keeping her pressed against him. Elisa wanted to be as close as possible, she was melting in his touch. She wasn't sure how but he melted her frozen heart. She always claimed she didn't have a heart, that it was frozen. But Ben had thawed it. He showed her what love was, and she couldn't get enough of him. She felt safe. She felt loved.
But her heart still ached, and she felt a pang in her chest. The guilt was creeping in, and she felt horrible for kissing him while knowing what she had planned. What she and the others were going to do. She finally broke the kiss, reluctantly pulling back. Ben chased her lips, and she couldn't help the small giggle that escaped her.
"Wait." She spoke, her hands resting on his chest to stop him. She could feel his heartbeat, his heart was racing fast just like hers.
"Right, sorry." Ben mumbles, his cheeks reddening. "So, is that a yes?"
Elisa smiles, biting her bottom lip as she nodded her head. "Yes, Ben. I want to be with you."
"Good." Ben smiles, his arms tightening around her as he pecks her lips. "I'm glad to hear that, Elisa."
A sense of relief washes over Elisa as she leans into Ben's embrace, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders. She can't deny the warmth that fills her heart knowing that Ben's feelings for her were genuine, even after the love spell had worn off. But amidst her happiness, a nagging feeling of guilt still lingers. "Ben," Elisa starts, her voice barely above a whisper, "There's something I need to tell you."
Ben's brows furrow with concern as he gazes down at her. "What is it, El?"
Elisa takes a deep breath, gathering her thoughts before speaking. "I… I haven't been completely honest with you." She looks down, unable to meet his gaze. "There's something I need to tell you about me and my friends."
Ben's expression shifts to one of confusion, his grip on her tightening slightly. "What do you mean? What's going on, Elisa?"
Elisa takes another deep breath, steeling herself to reveal the truth. "My friends and I, we-"
"There she is!" A cheerful and familiar voice interrupted her, causing the two to pull away and look over to find who said that. Elisa couldn't help but perk up at seeing her family coming over to her. Her father had been the one who spoke, grinning at her as he got to her before the others. Jack Frost didn't hesitate to hug his daughter, his grip was tight and his touch was cold but familiar and comforting.
"Dad." She mumbled, hugging him tighter as she closed her eyes. She had missed her family so much during her time on the Isle. She felt a mix of emotions — gratitude for their presence and support, but also a pang of guilt for keeping secrets from them. As she embraced her father, she made a silent vow to herself that she would find a way to protect her loved ones from the impending chaos, no matter the cost. Ben was confused and curious about what Elisa had tried to tell him before her family came over. He could sense that something serious was going on, but he didn't want to intrude on their moment. Instead, he offered a polite smile to Elisa's family before stepping back, giving them some space.
Elisa's mother, Elsa, joins in the embrace, her icy touch sending shivers down Elisa's spine. Despite the cold, it felt comforting to be in her mother's arms again. "Elisa, darling, we've missed you so much." Elsa murmured, her voice filled with warmth and love.
"I missed you, too, mom." Elisa replied, hugging her parents tightly. She could feel tears brimming her eyes, her heart swelled with joy and gratitude for their support. She didn't realize just how much she had missed them until this moment.
"It's good to see you, kiddo." Jack murmured with a sigh, kissing the top of her head. He had missed his only daughter so much. He had been worried about her the entire time she was on the Isle. Now that she was back, he was relieved and overjoyed.
Elisa felt a hand on her shoulder and she looked over to see her older brother, Jax, smiling at her. He looked just like their dad, though his skin was a bit paler and he didn't have the snow white hair. Though his hair was a sandy blonde, similar to their mom's. "Hey, little sis. Glad to have you back."
"Good to see you too, big bro." Elisa smiled, letting go of her parents. She pulled her older brother into a hug, her heart warming when he hugged her back. She hadn't realized how much she missed him. She used to hate the relentless teasing and the pranks he would play on her, but now, she found herself wishing that he would pull one on her again and that she wouldn't mind hearing him tease her.
"How was the Isle? Are you alright?" Her aunt, Anna, questions as she steps up and hugs her niece. She had always been like a second mother to Elisa. Her aunt was full of energy and light, always looking for the bright side of things. She admired her aunt and tried to be like her, even if it was a bit difficult at times. "We've all missed you dearly. It wasn't the same without you here."
"It was…Rough. But I managed and found some friends who helped me survive there." Elisa admitted, pulling away from her aunt. She glanced over at her boyfriend, seeing that he was now talking with her parents. Her heart fluttered at the sight, warmth filling her chest. She couldn't help the smile that spread across her lips, her gaze softening.
"Well, you're home now." Her uncle, Kristoff, wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her into a hug. "And we're all happy to have you back, kid."
"Thank you." Elisa muttered, closing her eyes and sighing. She had never felt so safe, so loved. Being with her family, her home, it felt right. She didn't want to lose that again.
"Oh, there's so much we have to catch up on!" Anna exclaims, her face lighting up with excitement. "Tell us everything we missed!"
"Well," Elisa starts, taking a deep breath. She couldn't stop herself from glancing at her boyfriend again. He was still talking with her parents, but he looked over and smiled at her. She couldn't help but smile back. "Um, Ben and I are dating." She couldn't hide her happiness when saying those words, she was practically beaming.
"Oh, I'm so happy for you, sweetie!" Anna exclaimed, hugging her niece once more. "I knew you two would be perfect for each other."
"I'm happy for you, kid." Jax says, offering a kind smile. He was happy his little sister was able to find someone to love and to be loved by. She deserved it, and he could tell how happy Ben made her. He walks over to Ben, offering his hand for Ben to shake. "I'm glad you two are finally together." Ben smiles, looking relieved as he shook his hand. But Ben grimaces a little when Jax tightens his grip and pulls him closer, his voice low and threatening. "But if you ever hurt my little sister, you'll have me to answer to. Got it?" He let go, his smile back on his face and acting as if nothing happened.
"Uh, yes, of course." Ben nodded, rubbing his hand. His grip was a lot stronger than he thought. He wasn't sure how strong Jax was, but he would rather not find out.
"Good." Jax says, patting his back a little hard, causing him to stumble. Ben quickly regains his composure and stands up straight, trying not to let his fear show. Jax grins, knowing that he was a bit scared. "Then I'm glad we have an understanding."
Ben nodded again, swallowing the lump in his throat. He didn't want to get on his bad side. "I would never dream of hurting her. I care a lot about her." He was genuine, and his voice was filled with passion. It was clear he truly cared about her, and that was good enough for Jax.
"Alright, please don't scare him away, Jax." Elisa quickly chimes in, standing by Ben and intertwining her hand with his. He seems to relax more at her touch, his body easing a bit. "He's important to me. Please be nice."
"Of course, sis." Jax chuckles, reaching over to ruffle her hair. "I'm just looking out for my baby sister."
"Well, maybe don't threaten my boyfriend." She says, swatting his hand away with a scowl. "And mess up my hair."
"Yeah, yeah." Jax laughs, taking a step back. "Come on, mom wants a word with you."
Elisa sighs and glances over at Ben, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "I'll see you later, okay? I gotta go talk to my mom."
"Of course." Ben smiles softly and squeezes her hand. "I'll see you later."
Elisa smiled back at him, letting go of his hand before turning to follow her brother and parents. She glanced back at Ben and smiled again, her heart fluttering in her chest. He looked back at her with a look of admiration, causing her face to flush. She turned away, her cheeks burning, and she walked after her family. Her cousin, Krystal, was now there talking with her parents. She greeted her cheerfully before she continued talking to her parents. Elisa didn't know what they were talking about, but she didn't think it was important.
"Hey, mom." Elisa spoke as she approached, smiling warmly at her.
"Hello, sweetheart." Her mother replies, reaching up and brushing her bangs out of her face. "You have no idea how much we missed you. We were worried."
"I'm fine, mom." Elisa reassures her, taking a hold of her hand and gently squeezing. "Don't worry. Everything is fine. I mean, it was rough, but it's not like it was all bad. I met new people, had a few adventures. And now, I'm back. So there's nothing to worry about."
Elsa sighs, looking into her daughter's eyes. She knew she was lying, something was bothering her. But she didn't want to push. "Alright. If you say so."
"Trust me, I'm fine. You don't need to worry about me." Elisa smiles at her, hoping to ease her mother's worries. "How have things been going back at home? And at the Enchanted Forrest?" She questioned, referring to the kingdom her aunt ruled and the Forrest her parents helped out at.
"Good, everything's going good." Anna nods, a small smile forming on her face. "It's been peaceful, no threats or anything like that. But the forest is thriving. It's been great."
"That's good. That's really good." Elisa sighs in relief, grateful that there were no issues. "I really miss being home. It was really hard being away for so long."
"I bet." Her mother frowns, her gaze softening. "You shouldn't have been there. You belong here. With us. I hate that Audrey and Chad made you lose control of your powers and got you banished for something you couldn't control. And that it took so long to get you back. If I could've, I would've gone myself to get you and bring you home. But…" She trailed off, her frown deepening.
"I get it." Elisa sighs, her shoulders sagging. "You couldn't do anything, mom. No one could."
"Well, you're back now. So, that's all that matters." Jack chimes in, placing a hand on his daughter's shoulder. He smiles reassuringly, squeezing her shoulder gently. "You're back, and you're safe."
"And we're not going to let anyone take you away again." Jax adds, standing next to his father and wrapping his arm around Elisa's shoulders. "You're staying here. With us."
"Right. Right." Elisa sighed, nodding her head. as she leaned into his embrace.
She couldn't help but glance over at her boyfriend. She knew the truth, no one could stop her from leaving. Not even Ben. And she would have to eventually leave, she was a villain and her friends were villains. They weren't supposed to be there, and they had a plan. They would have to go back to the Isle and complete it. She felt a pang of guilt, she was starting to grow attached to her boyfriend and her new life. She wanted to stay. But she had a job to do. And she was going to do it, no matter what.

CHAPTER EIGHT (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
Elisa was freaking out. Ben had asked if it was okay to turn their hang out they had planned earlier into a date. She, of course, said yes. But now she didn't know what to wear and she had no clue what to do. Her friends were trying to help her get ready and she was pacing the room. Krystal sat on her bed, watching her with an amused look along with Parker and Ryder. Parker sat on Elisa's bed while Ryder sat at Krystal's desk chair, spinning it around sometimes.
"Calm down, girl." Krystal chuckles, shaking her head. "It's just a date. It's not like it's your wedding or anything."
"Yeah, but this is a date with Ben. My best friend since we were kids. This is big." Elisa argued as ran her hand through her hair. She was so nervous and anxious, her heart was pounding against her chest and she could feel her stomach doing flips. Her hands were shaking a little and she was pacing the floor. She was so excited, but she was also freaking out.
What if she messed up? What if she did something stupid? She didn't want to embarrass herself in front of Ben. He was one of the few people who she was comfortable being around and she didn't want to mess things up with him. They had such a great friendship and she didn't want to ruin it. But what if the spell wore off and he didn't feel the same way? Or worse, what if after the spell wore off he hates her and never wants to speak to her again? She wouldn't be able to handle that. She continued anxiously pacing the floor, chewing her lower lip as she fidgeted with her ring Ben had gotten for her. Her eyes were glued to the floor as her thoughts swirled in her head. She didn't notice her friends' worried looks as she continued to pace, mumbling to herself.
Elisa was snapped out of her thoughts when Krystal walked over to her, taking her hands and stopping her from pacing. She looks up, blinking a few times as she tried to process what her friend was saying. "Sorry, what was that?" She asked. Her cheeks were tinted red from embarrassment, hoping her friends didn't see how nervous and freaked out she was. Though judging by their expressions, she knew they saw it. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment and she averted her gaze, biting her lip as she pulled her hands away.
Krystal sighs and shakes her head. "Hey, he'll think you're amazing no matter what you wear. You could be wearing a trash bag and he'd still find you the most beautiful girl in the world. He's crazy about you. He's always been crazy about you. Ever since we were kids, I've noticed the way he looks at you. How he smiles whenever you're around. How he listens intently when you talk and how he's always there for you. It was clear he always liked you more than Audrey. And now you finally have a chance to be together. So don't let your fears get in the way of this. You deserve this, Ellie. You deserve to fall in love and be happy. You've been through so much in the past and you deserve a happy ending." She says softly. "You may think you have a frozen heart, especially because of your powers, but I know deep down you have a heart full of warmth and love. Don't let your doubts hold you back from experiencing something wonderful."
Elisa blinks back tears, deeply moved by Krystal's words. She wraps her arms around her cousin in a tight hug, feeling a surge of gratitude for having someone like Krystal in her life. "Thank you, Krystal," She whispers, her voice thick with emotion. "You always know exactly what to say."
Krystal hugs her back just as tightly, rubbing soothing circles on her back. "Anytime, Lissy. You're like a sister to me, and I'll always be here for you."
With Krystal's support and encouragement, Elisa felt a newfound sense of confidence wash over her. She wiped away her tears and took a deep breath, feeling ready to face her date with Ben. No matter what happened, she knew she had her friends and family by her side, cheering her on every step of the way. And with their love and support, she knew she could do anything.
"Alright, let's get you ready for your date," Krystal said with a determined smile, taking Elisa's hand and leading her over to her closet. "Ben's gonna be blown away when he sees you."
Elisa laughed, her heart fluttering at the thought. "Thanks, Krys. I really appreciate it."
❄❄❄❄
After her friends helped her get ready, Elisa was standing in front of the mirror in her room. She had curled her hair, pulling back some hair into a small braid and did her makeup to match the dress. She wore a dress with different shades of blue on it that reached her thighs, her shoes were flats and their color matched her dress. She also had on the snowflake necklace she always wore along with the ring she always wore. And, of course, she had on her gloves too.
"Hey, don't be so nervous." Krystal smiles, walking over to her. "You'll be fine. You look incredible, I'm sure he'll think the same."
"She's right." Parker nods, smiling at her. "You've got nothing to worry about."
"Thanks, guys." Elisa smiles a little, turning to face her friends. "I'm sorry if I was being a bit too dramatic."
"Don't apologize." Ryder laughs a little, shaking his head. "This is a big deal for you. I mean, it's your first date with the boy you've had a crush on forever. It's totally understandable to freak out about this."
"Thanks." Elisa chuckles. There was a knock at the door and her friends pushed her towards it, telling her to go open the door. When she did, she saw Ben standing there, holding a blue tulip, her favorite flower. Her eyes widen, a blush dusting her cheeks. She was stunned at the fact he remembered her favorite flower and brought her one. "Hi." She said softly, her heart racing.
"Hey." Ben smiles a little, holding out the tulip to her. "I thought you'd like this. I remember you telling me how much you love blue tulips." He explained.
"I-I do." Elisa nods, her cheeks turning a darker red. She accepts the flower and smiles. "Thank you, this is very sweet of you." She said before smelling the flower, loving the smell.
"I'm glad you like it." Ben nods. His breath is taken away by her appearance. She looked so beautiful, so gorgeous. "Wow, you look…"
"Weird?" Elisa finished for him, a nervous look in her eyes. She had been worried she was overdoing it and didn't want him to be turned off by her looks. "Horrible? Did I overdo it? I knew it was too-"
"No." Ben interrupts, shaking his head. "I was going to say you look beautiful." He smiles a little. "Gorgeous, even. You always do, but right now, you're absolutely stunning." He said softly, staring at her with admiration. Elisa's face was the color of a tomato, her heart racing at his words.
"T-Thanks." Elisa stammered, giving him a small smile.
"You're welcome." Ben nods, holding out his arm for her. "Shall we?" He asked, smiling at her.
"We shall." Elisa smiled back, hooking her arm with his. They said bye to Elisa's friends and headed out.
Elisa laughs, smiling wide when she saw Ben's scooter parked out front. She almost forgot about it. "You still have it."
"Of course, I'd never get rid of this." Ben smiles. "Come on, hop on."
"Gladly." Elisa chuckled, climbing onto the back after taking the helmet he handed her. He started the engine and soon they were on their way. Elisa remembered how she and Ben used to go around the kingdom on the scooter. They'd explore and just have fun. Those were some of her favorite memories, the times she spent with him.
When they got to the woods, Ben stopped and turned the scooter off. He climbed off and helped her off, then they headed further into the woods. He had her close her eyes and he guided her until they reached their destination. He stood behind her and rested his hands on her arms. "Open your eyes."
Elisa's eyes open and she's greeted with a beautiful scene. They were back at the garden he showed her earlier, but now there was a table set up with two plates of food and candles lit around them. A string of fairy lights was hanging from a tree, giving them some light. She felt her heart melt, feeling so touched that he would do all of this for her. "You did this for me?"
"Yeah, I did." Ben nods, a smile on his face. "Do you like it?"
"I love it." Elisa smiles, giving him a hug. He hugs her back, smiling wide. She felt her heart flutter when he hugged her, loving the feeling of his arms around her. She loved the smell of his cologne, the warmth of his body. She felt safe, like she was home. She never wanted this moment to end.
When the pulled away, Ben lead her over to the table. He pulls her chair out for her, letting her sit before pushing the chair in. Then he took his seat. "I'm glad you love it." He smiles, looking at her. "I had asked Mrs. Potts for some help with making the food." He admitted.
"Then I'm sure it will be delicious." Elisa smiles, starting to eat the meal. They ate in silence, the only sound coming from the birds chirping in the trees. The silence wasn't awkward, they were comfortable. That was something she loved about her and Ben's relationship, they could be comfortable around each other and not have to talk to fill the silence. They would have long moments of silence where they just enjoyed each other's company.
"This is amazing, did you set this all up?" Elisa asked, smiling wide.
"I did." Ben nodded. "I've been planning this for a while now." He admitted, his cheeks turning red.
"Aww, that's so sweet." Elisa cooed, feeling her heart flutter. She was falling more in love with him and that scared her. He was under the influence of a love spell and yet, her heart was aching for him.
"Well, I just wanted to do something nice for you." Ben smiles softly. "You deserve the best." He said, looking into her eyes.
"Thanks." Elisa said softly, her heart melting at his words. Her eyes widened when Ben reached across the table and held her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. She felt butterflies in her stomach and her face heat up as she squeezed his hand back.
After they finished eating, he took her over to a lake near the garden. She stood there, watching the water, admiring the way the moon's reflection shined in it. He stood beside her, also admiring the view. Elisa's eyes were sparkling and a soft smile was on her face, her gaze locked on the lake.
"You remember how to swim? Or do you need me to give you a reminder?" Ben teased, a playful look in his eyes.
"Hey, I can swim." Elisa scoffs, laughing a bit. "I've got a great memory."
"Prove it." Ben challenged, a smirk on his face.
"I will." Elisa replies with a smile. He smiles wide and started heading to the top of a cliff. "Wait a minute, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Her smile turned into a grin as she followed him.
"If you're thinking that we're going to jump off that cliff, then yeah, we're on the same page." Ben replied while he got to the top.
He disappeared behind some trees for a moment, she figured most likely changing so she did the same. He had told her to wear a swim suit as well, but that was the only hint he gave her as to what the date was going to he like. She took her dress off, revealing her blue and white bikini and set her dress and shoes to the side. She took her necklace and ring off just in case as well and then went over to the top of the cliff, seeing Ben standing there, now wearing blue swim trunks with little crowns on them.
She laughs at seeing that. "You have swim trunks with little crowns on them."
"Shut up." Ben scoffed, his face heating up. He was glad it was dark, but she could still tell he was blushing.
"It's adorable." Elisa grins, nudging him playfully. "They look great on you, too."
"Thanks." Ben laughed, smiling. "You look amazing, too." He said softly, causing her to blush.
"Thanks." She smiled shyly.
"You still have your gloves on. Are you really going to wear those in the water?" Ben asked, looking at her gloved hands. Elisa grew silent as she glanced down at her gloves. She had worn them most of the time she got back to Auradon in fear of losing control of her powers. She had bene on an island where magic didn't work for years and so she hadn't used her powers in a long time, she was worried what would happen if she did use them.
Elisa's smile faltered slightly as she looked at her gloved hands, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her features. She had grown accustomed to wearing her gloves as a safety measure, a way to contain her powers and prevent any accidents from happening. But now, standing at the edge of the cliff with Ben, she wondered if it was time to let go of her fear and embrace her magic.
"I…I'm not sure." She admits, chewing her bottom lip anxiously. "I'm worried that without the gloves, I'll lose control and hurt someone." She continues, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "It's been so long since I've used my powers without them, and I'm afraid of what might happen."
Ben reaches out, gently taking her hands in his own. "Elisa, you don't have to be afraid," He says softly, his gaze unwavering. "I trust you. And I know that you have the strength and control to handle your powers, with or without the gloves." He squeezes her hands reassuringly, his eyes filled with warmth and understanding. "But if you're not ready, that's okay too. I just want you to know that you have nothing to be afraid of. Not with me."
Elisa is speechless, her heart hammering in her chest at his words. She never had someone believe in her abilities like this before, and it meant more to her than words could express. She takes a deep breath, feeling a surge of determination coursing through her veins. With Ben by her side, she felt like she could conquer anything, even her own fears.
"Thank you, Ben," She murmurs, her voice filled with gratitude. "I needed to hear that." She takes a moment to gather her courage, her eyes meeting his with newfound resolve. "I think…I think I'm ready."
Ben smiles, his eyes lighting up with pride. "I'm proud of you, Elisa," He says softly, his voice laced with admiration. "You're brave and strong, and I know you'll do great." He squeezed her hands one last time before letting go, giving her the space she needs to make her decision.
Elisa takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what comes next. With a determined nod, she reaches up and slowly removes her gloves, revealing her bare hands for the first time in years. She feels a rush of exhilaration as she flexes her fingers, the familiar tingling sensation of magic coursing through her veins. It's a feeling she hasn't experienced in far too long, and it fills her with a sense of power and freedom that she's missed.
She takes a moment to appreciate the feeling, reveling in the rush of adrenaline that courses through her body. She can feel her ice and snow manipulation magic flowing freely within her, and it's both a terrifying and exhilarating sensation. As her eyes meet Ben's, she sees a mixture of awe and excitement reflected in his gaze, and it fills her with a sense of confidence and determination. She looks back at her hands and takes another deep breath, readying herself for what's to come.
With a flick of her wrist, Elisa summons a swirl of ice and snow around her hands, the familiar magic crackling to life at her fingertips. The cold air feels refreshing against her skin, and she can't help but smile as the icy wind whips through her hair. She's finally embracing her powers after so long, and it feels liberating.
Ben smiles wide, a look of pride on his face as he watches her summon her powers. It's a sight to behold, seeing her so confident and in control of her abilities. He knew that she had the strength and control to handle her powers, and it was an incredible sight to see her unleash her magic after so long. He's filled with a sense of awe and respect for her, and it only deepens his admiration and affection for her.
Elisa grins, her eyes sparkling with joy as she creates a snowflake and sends it to float in the air between them. It's a simple trick, but it makes her feel giddy with excitement. She hadn't used her powers in years. She's sure she's rusty with using them and needed the practice to use them and keep them in control, but it feels good to finally let go of her fears and embrace who she truly is. With Ben by her side, she feels like she can conquer anything, and she's excited to see where this newfound confidence and freedom will take her.
As they stand there together, watching the snowflake dance in the air, Elisa can't help but feel a sense of gratitude wash over her. Gratitude for Ben's unwavering support and belief in her, gratitude for this magical moment they're sharing together, and gratitude for the opportunity to finally embrace her powers and embrace herself fully.
"Thank you, Ben," Elisa says softly, her voice filled with emotion. "Thank you for believing in me and for helping me see that I don't have to be afraid of who I am." She reaches out, taking his hand in hers and giving it a gentle squeeze. "I couldn't have done this without you." Feeling his bare hand against hers was a foreign feeling, but not unwelcomed. It sent a pleasant shiver down her spine and made her heart beat a little faster. She tried to control her powers, knowing they were often caused by emotions, and right now she didn't need a blizzard ruining the night.
Ben smiles, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks as he returns the gesture. "I'm glad I could help. I'm always here for you, Elisa. No matter what." He says sincerely, his gaze never leaving hers. "And I'll always believe in you, just like you believe in me." He adds, his voice filled with warmth and affection. "Together, we can conquer anything."
Elisa's heart swells with love and gratitude as she looks into Ben's eyes, feeling a deep connection between them. In that moment, she knows that no matter what challenges may come their way, they'll face them together, hand in hand. "Thank you, Ben," She whispers, her voice barely above a whisper. "For everything." Her smile turns into a grin as she says, "So, I think I'm ready to jump now if you are."
Ben's smile matches her own as he nods, a playful glint in his eyes. "Let's do this."
With a shared look, the pair runs towards the cliff and leaps off the edge, plunging into the cool water below. They both surface a few moments later, laughing and cheering as they float in the crystal-clear water. Elisa feels a surge of energy coursing through her veins, the adrenaline from the jump and the exhilaration of using her magic making her feel alive in a way she hasn't felt in years. She swims over to Ben, her eyes shining with joy as she playfully splashes him. "That was amazing!" She exclaims, her cheeks flushed with excitement. "I can't believe we actually did that."
Ben chuckles, wiping the water from his face as he nods in agreement. "It was pretty amazing, wasn't it?" He agrees, his smile wide and carefree. "But I'm not done with you yet." He said before swimming towards her and throwing her over his shoulder.
Elisa yelps in surprise, her heart hammering in her chest. She can't help but giggle as he carries her over to a rock and gently laid her down on it. "What are you doing?" She asked, laughing as she tried to catch her breath. Her face turned red at seeing the sudden close proximity of their faces, the thought of his lips on hers crossing her mind. She quickly pushed those thoughts aside, knowing it was the spell that was making her think such things. But it was hard to do that when she was staring into his eyes and being this close.
Ben chuckles as he hoists himself up onto the rock next to her, the pair sitting side by side as they enjoy the view. "Just wanted to show you the full view." He says, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
Elisa raises an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "The full view? Of what?"
Ben smirks, gesturing to the starry sky above them. "Take a look."
Elisa follows his gaze, her breath hitching as she takes in the breathtaking sight. The moon and stars shine brightly against the inky blackness of the night sky, their light reflected in the calm waters of the lake. It's a breathtakingly beautiful sight, and Elisa feels a sense of awe and gratitude wash over her as she admires the view. "Wow," She breathes, her eyes wide with wonder. "I forgot how much I missed seeing the stars…I could never see them this good on the Isle." She mumbled, a bittersweet smile crossing her face.
Ben nods in understanding, a look of sadness flickering across his features. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up painful memories."
"No, no, it's okay." Elisa shakes her head, giving him a reassuring smile. "It's just…it's nice to be able to see them again, you know? And I'm glad that I'm here, experiencing this with you." She says, her voice filled with warmth and affection. "This is a memory I'll treasure forever."
Ben smiles, his heart filled with love and gratitude. "I'm glad I can share it with you, Elisa," He says softly, his eyes never leaving hers. "You're a special person, and you deserve to have special moments like this."
Elisa blushes, her heart skipping a beat at his words. She tries to hide her embarrassment, hoping that the darkness would hide the fact that her cheeks were turning red. He noticed this, his smile widening. He leaned forward, brushing her hair behind her ear. She blushed even harder and turned her head, her lips brushing against his hand. It was then she felt a tingle in her toes. She glanced down at her feet, noticing that the water had frozen at the spot where her feet touch. Her face turns more red out of embarrassment. "Guess my powers aren't going away anytime soon." She mumbled, pulling her feet up and curling her knees to her chest.
Ben laughs, a warm, hearty sound that makes Elisa's heart flutter. "I don't mind," He says, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "It's kind of cute."
As Ben's laughter fills the air, Elisa can't help but join in, the tension easing from her shoulders as she realizes that he doesn't mind her powers at all. In fact, he finds them endearing. It's a comforting thought, knowing that she doesn't have to hide a part of herself around him. She leans into his side, feeling the warmth of his presence as they sit together on the rock, watching the stars twinkle overhead.
"You really think it's cute?" Elisa asks, a playful glint in her eyes as she looks up at him.
Ben nods, his smile softening as he gazes down at her. "Absolutely," He says earnestly, his voice filled with affection. "Your powers are a part of who you are, Elisa, and I wouldn't change a thing about you." He reaches out, gently brushing a strand of hair away from her face, his touch sending a shiver down her spine.
Elisa's heart skips a beat at his words, feeling a warmth spreading through her chest at his touch. She leans into his hand, savoring the moment as she looks up at him with soft eyes. "Thank you, Ben," She murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper. "For accepting me, powers and all."
Ben's smile widens, his eyes shining with adoration as he leans in closer, his breath mingling with hers. "Always." His hand moved to gently grip her chin, his eyes searching hers for any sign of hesitation or uncertainty. Finding none, he then slowly closed the distance between them, letting her have time to back away if she wanted. She didn't and met him halfway, their lips pressing against each other's.
Elisa's breath hitched, butterflies erupting in her stomach at the contact. She leaned further into the kiss, her lips moving against his as she savored the feeling. The world around her faded away, her senses overwhelmed by the sensation of his lips against hers. It was a heady feeling, one she had never experienced before, and she found herself lost in the moment. She felt the sudden coldness in the air and she could feel her powers starting to flare up, her control slowly slipping from her grasp. She wanted to touch him, to hold him as they kissed, but she feared she would accidentally freeze him or something.
As if he sensed this, Ben's hand moved from her chin and gently wrapped around her wrist, pulling her hands close to him. His other hand rested against the side of her neck, his thumb gently stroking her jaw. He kept the kiss slow and soft, not wanting to overwhelm her, but the passion and desire behind his actions were undeniable. Elisa's nerves continued to rise as he placed her hands against his chest, feeling the rhythmic beat of his heart. The steady thump thump thump was comforting and helped her calm down enough to regain her control.
Ben held her hands against his chest, the simple act of his trust and confidence in her helping her to stay grounded. His thumb stroked her cheek gently, the warmth of his touch seeping into her skin and making her heart skip a beat. As the kiss deepened, she found herself losing control again, her powers threatening to spill out and overwhelm her. With every fiber of her being, she fought to hold it back, her body trembling with the effort. She could feel her magic surging through her veins, a familiar icy sensation that both excited and terrified her. She tried to pull back, fearing that she might hurt him, but he only gripped her hands tighter, keeping her close.
"I trust you." Ben's words were a soft murmur, barely audible against her lips, but they echoed loudly in her mind.
Those three simple words were all she needed to hear, and Elisa finally let go, her magic bursting forth and enveloping the pair in a cocoon of icy wind and snow. She gasped as she felt the familiar tingling sensation coursing through her, her body buzzing with power and excitement. As the snow and ice danced around them, she could feel his heartbeat quicken beneath her fingertips, his own excitement palpable. She felt his arm tighten around her, pulling her closer and deepening the kiss. It was a passionate, tender embrace, one filled with love and understanding, and Elisa had never felt so alive.
She's surprised when he pulled her closer onto his lap, her legs now on either side of him. The sudden movement and the closeness startled her, her nerves rising once again and causing her powers to spike. Snowflakes swirled around them as she struggled to contain her emotions, her powers threatening to spiral out of control. She tried to pull away, fearing she would lose control and freeze him, but Ben only held her tighter, his grip never faltering.
"Let go." He whispered against her lips.
"I…I can't. What if I hurt you?" She said, her voice wavering with uncertainty.
"You won't," He said with absolute certainty, his voice filled with warmth and affection. "I trust you, Elisa. I know you can do this."
His words filled her with a sense of determination and courage, and Elisa finally let go, allowing her magic to flow freely and surround them in a swirl of icy wind and snow. The feeling was exhilarating, and she couldn't help but laugh, the joyful sound echoing through the air. She felt his lips curl into a smile against hers, his own laughter mingling with hers. As they embraced, Elisa knew that she was exactly where she belonged. In Ben's arms, she was home.
As the kiss broke, Elisa couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed, her body craving more. She had never experienced a feeling like this before, and she knew it was only the beginning. Her body and soul longed for him in a way that she had never imagined possible, and she knew that the feelings were mutual. She leaned forward, her forehead resting against his, her breathing ragged as she struggled to catch her breath. "That was…" She trailed off, her mind struggling to find the right words to describe the intensity of the moment.
Ben chuckles, a low, husky sound that sent a shiver down her spine. "Intense? Incredible? The best thing I've ever felt?"
Elisa laughs, a giddy, carefree sound that made his heart soar. "All of the above," She murmured, her eyes never leaving his.
Ben's smile softens, his eyes filled with affection and adoration. "I feel the same way, Elisa. I've never felt this way about anyone before. Not even with Audrey."
Elisa's heart skipped a beat, his words filling her with a mixture of joy and guilt. "Ben, I…" She trailed off, her thoughts swirling and mixing, making her feel conflicted. She felt so guilty, having had put this love spell on him. She wondered if this was all the love spell talking, but she couldn't help but feel like it was real. As if she somehow knew deep down, it was real. But there was also a voice in the back of her head telling her it was wrong and that she was only taking advantage of him. That he didn't truly love her and that he would never feel this way about her. She wanted to believe him, to accept his love and reciprocate it, but she couldn't get past the guilt that weighed heavily on her.
Ben notices her conflicted expression and immediately pulls her into a warm embrace, her head resting against his shoulder. "Hey," He said softly, his voice filled with concern. "Are you okay? What's wrong?" His hands rub her back in gentle circles, the gesture soothing and comforting.
"I'm fine," She lies, trying to keep her emotions in check. She knew that if she was honest with him, he would be hurt, and she didn't want to see that pain reflected in his eyes. "Just…Overwhelmed." She mumbled, burying her face into the crook of his neck. That wasn't a lie, but not the entire truth.
"Overwhelmed? In a good way or a bad way?" He asked, his voice tinged with worry.
"In a good way." She says, pulling back and giving him a reassuring smile. It wasn't a total lie, this experience had been overwhelming in the best way, but the guilt still weighed heavily on her heart. She tried to push those feelings aside, not wanting to ruin the moment. "But I guess, maybe we should take things slow? I'm just…Not ready for anything else yet."
Ben nods understandingly, his expression softening with compassion. "Of course, Elisa. We can take things at whatever pace feels right for you." He cups her cheek gently, his touch warm and reassuring. "I just want you to know that I care about you deeply, and I'll always respect your boundaries." His eyes search hers, filled with sincerity and understanding. "I'm here for you, no matter what."
Elisa's heart swells with gratitude at his words, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She leans into his touch, savoring the warmth and comfort he provides. "Thank you, Ben," She whispers, her voice filled with emotion. "I'm so grateful to have you in my life."
Ben smiles, his eyes shining with affection. "The feeling is mutual, Elisa," He murmurs, his thumb gently caressing her cheek. "I'm here for you, always."
With a contented sigh, Elisa snuggled closer to Ben, feeling a sense of peace settle over her. Her powers have calmed down by now, everything returning back to normal. In his arms, she feels safe and loved, and she knows that no matter what challenges may come their way, they'll face them together. With Ben by her side, she feels like she can conquer anything, and she's excited to see where their journey together will take them.

CHAPTER SEVEN (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
The next day, Mal and the other VKs had informed Elisa that they had successfully made the spell into a cookie. The had said the plan was for her to give the cookie to Ben and after he took a bite the love spell would work. Elisa still wasn't a fan of this idea and she was still nervous about it. She didn't want to force Ben into a relationship with her. She wanted him to choose her because he truly did have feelings for her. Wait, why is she even thinking this? They're doing this so she can be up front and get the wand when its coronation. Not to actually fall in love with Ben.
She shook her head, putting those thoughts aside. She didn't have time to worry about them, she needed to focus. As she was walking in the hallway, she had accidentally bumped into someone.
"Hey, watch where you're going." Audrey snapped, glaring at Elisa and crossing her arms.
"Oh, hey Audrey." Elisa greeted, forcing a smile. "Sorry, I didn't mean to run into you."
"Whatever, Ice Princess." Audrey huffs, rolling her eyes. "So, I heard you were spending time with my Ben last night."
"Um, yeah, he's my best friend." Elisa shrugs, unsure of why Audrey was angry. Ben was allowed to hang out with whoever he wanted. "And why are you acting as if you own him? Ben is his own person. He can do whatever he wants."
Audrey narrows her eyes. "Just stay away from my boyfriend." She demanded glaring at her and storming off.
Elisa sighs, running a hand through her hair. She was really getting tired of Audrey and her attitude.
"Whoa, what was that about?" A voice spoke up and she looked to see Ryder, son of Rapunzel and Eugene and a close friend of hers. She smiles a little at seeing him walking over to her. "What got Audrey all pissed off?"
"She never liked me being close to Ben in the first place...And I guess she heard Ben and I hung out last night and she's upset about it." Elisa rolls her eyes and crosses her arms. "It's not my fault her boyfriend enjoys my company more than hers." She muttered under her breath, not realizing she had said it out loud.
Ryder's eyebrows rose and he grins, having an amused glint in his eyes. "Interesting." He teases, earning a glare from her. "But in all seriousness, are you okay?" He asked, his tone turning to concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Elisa smiles a little. "Just tired of her attitude."
"Same here." Ryder sighed.
"Is it bad I kinda wanna freeze her?" Elisa asked, causing him to laugh.
"Is it bad I kinda want that to happen?" Ryder jokes, causing her to chuckle. "I miss hanging out with you, E." He said softly, a sincere look in his eyes.
Elisa smiles, her heart warming. "I miss you, too, Ry." She whispered, hugging him and she felt him instantly return the hug. She had always had a close bond with him and his sisters. They had been a second family to her. Ryder was like her brother and he was just as protective as any sibling would be.
"Alright, I'll see you later." Ryder pulled away from the hug. "I gotta get to class, but I'll catch you at lunch, okay?"
"Sounds good." Elisa nodded and the two walk off in opposite directions.
****
After school was over, Elisa was at her locker when she noticed Audrey and Ben walking into the hallway. She had overheard their conversation and Audrey was questioning about a group of girl's new hairstyles. Mal had been getting asked to do new hairstyles for a lot of girls and now a lot of people liked her. Audrey wasn't a fan though. Elisa had also noticed Jay was talking with the group of girls which she wasn't surprised about. Jay had always been a flirt.
"She did it to Jane's hair, too, and Fairy Godmother's not happy about it." Audrey continued.
Ben shrugs, not seeing the big deal about it. "What's the harm?"
"It's gateway magic! Sure, it starts with the hair. Next thing you know it's the lips and the legs and the clothes and then everybody looks good and then where will I be?" Audrey complained.
"Way behind everybody else." Elisa muttered under her breath with an eye roll. She could hear Ben chuckle at this, but he tried to cover it up with a cough. Elisa couldn't help the small smirk on her lips, proud at herself for making him laugh.
"Listen, Audrey-"
"I will see you at the game after my dress fitting for the coronation, okay?" Audrey smiled.
"Okay." Ben replied.
"Bye, Bennyboo." Audrey leaned forward to kiss his cheek and then she walked away.
"Bye." Ben mumbled.
After Audrey walked away, Elisa knew now was the perfect time to give the cookie to him. She closes her locker and walks over to him. "Hey, Benny." She greeted.
"Hi, Ellie." Ben smiles a little. "What's up?"
"Not much. Just wanted to check in on you." Elisa replies, returning the smile. "So, uh, me and my friends made some cookies and we had some left over. Double chocolate chip," She explains, holding up a bag that had a cookie in it. She smiles at him, hoping her nerves weren't showing. "And I was wondering if maybe you wanted one? I mean, I know you don't usually eat before big games, but I figured why not break tradition once in awhile?" She asked, hoping she sounded convincing.
Ben's smile grows and he nods, taking the bag. "Yeah, sure, I'll take one." He said, taking the cookie out of the bag and then eating it.
Elisa held her breath, hoping this would work. She was a bit scared at what was gonna happen. What if the spell didn't work? Then what was she gonna do? What if it did work? What would she do then? She wasn't sure how this would end. "So, um, how is it? Do you like it?" She questioned, wanting to know his thoughts.
"I love it." Ben replies. "It's great, amazing actually. Best cookie I've ever had." He adds. "Thank you for bringing me this, it was very sweet of you. You're always so thoughtful." Elisa knew the love spell was working by the way he was talking and his expression softened. "And you're so beautiful. I-I mean, I knew that before but right now you're so breathtaking."
Elisa's cheeks heat up at hearing this and she was at a loss for words. She was relieved the love spell was working, but she still didn't like the idea of manipulating him. She had to admit though, hearing him talk like this was kinda nice. She had always hoped he would see her this way, but not under the influence of a love spell. Still, she couldn't deny the warm feeling in her heart and the way her stomach was full of butterflies.
Elisa knew her VK friends were walking over to them, she could see them out of the corner of her eye. Ben continues to stare at Elisa, not even noticing the VKs around him. "Ellie, have you always had those little bright blue flecks in your eyes? They almost look like ice crystals and they're so sparkly." He spoke, sounding amazed.
Elisa's heart races, her cheeks turning more red. Her eyes widen though when he started to take another bite of the cookie. If one bite did this much, she couldn't imagine what another one would do. She quickly grabs the cookie from him with a nervous chuckle. "Uh, that's probably enough for now. Don't want you getting too much sugar before your big game." She explained, her nerves still showing.
"Yeah, right." Ben nodded, still having the same dazed look in his eyes.
"How are you feeling, bro?" Jay grinned, coming up behind Ben and putting his hands on his shoulders.
"I feel...I feel..." Ben stammers, continuing to stare at Elisa with a fond expression. "I feel like singing your name." Elisa is surprised when he actually started singing her name. She quickly covers his mouth with her hand as Jay took the ziplock bag that now had the rest of the cookie in it after Elisa had gave it to him. Jay looked at the cookie with an impressed look, surprised and impressed the love spell had worked so well.
❄❄❄❄
So far the Tourney Game had been going good. Everyone was cheering for their respective team and there was a lot of excitement in the air. Elisa was sat with her friends in the stands, watching the game.
"This is a nail-biter, folks. There's forty-seven seconds left on the clock. We're all tied up. The Sherwood Falconers, two. The Fighting Knights, two. What a game between Auradon's fiercest rivals." The announcer spoke over the speakers. "As the teams get into their huddles and take up positions along the Kill Zone, the dragoneers have been lying down a withering hail of fire. And now a substitution by Coach Jenkins."
Elisa was shocked when Jay and Carlos were put in the game, but she was also happy and excited for her friends. This was an awesome opportunity for them. She cheered along with her friends as Jay and Carlos walked out onto the field.
"He's bringing that hothead Jay in from the Isle of the Lost and that little guy Carlos who can barely hold a shield." The announcer observes. "When they break from their huddles, this is gonna be a big moment here. And the tipoff is ready." He said after the whistle blows. "Here we go. Long pass goes to Jay. Jay dishes off to Prince Ben. Nice little block by Carlos. He does a little dancing jig in the opponent's face." Elisa had giggled a bit when she saw the little dance Carlos did. She was proud of him for actually being able to knock someone else down. Plus she found it a bit amusing when he did a dance. "And now Jay gets the ball back. Here comes Jay. Jay, hurdling maneuver at mid-field. Jay makes a nice pass to Prince Ben through the Kill Zone. Big block by Chad! Prince Ben goes over wide, gives it back to Jay. He's in the clear! Shot! Oh, what a save by Philip, the Falcon's goalkeeper!"
Elisa and the others had been disappointed when the Falcon's goalkeeper saved the ball from going into the net. The game continued and she kept cheering with the others. She was getting nervous, the game only had twenty-three seconds left. She hoped her friends would be able to win this. Whenever Ben scored with Jay and Carlos' help, Elisa cheered loudly with the others, a proud smile on her face.
"Prince Ben has won it! What an unselfish play by Jay! What a team! Incredible! And it's the new guys, Jay and Carlos, who set up the prince for the winner. What a victory! An absolutely wonderful end to one of the best games ever! Here they come, folks. The winners of the first..."
Elisa is shocked when Ben suddenly took the mic from the announcer. "Excuse me. Excuse me, can I have your attention please?" The crowd goes quiet in response, all watching him curiously. He stands on the Dragon Cannon, facing the crowd. "There's something I'd like to say."
"What the heck is that boy doing?" Krystal asked with surprise, glancing at Elisa.
"Why are you looking at me like I know the answer?" Elisa scoffed, just as confused as her friend.
"You're his best friend." Parker shrugs. "You know him better than us."
"Well, I have no clue what he's doing." Elisa admitted. Her eyes widen with shock, her face heating up when Ben had spelt her name, making everyone else do it as well. Her face grew warm, her heart racing at what he said afterwards.
"I love you, Elisa, did I mention that?" Her friends glance at her with surprise or with teasing grins as they nudged her. Audrey had gotten upset during this, thinking he was doing something for her and so she had ran off the field.
"Give me a beat!" Ben shouted, pointing at the band. Once Doug counted off in Spanish, he and the band started playing.
"Okay, what the heck was in that cookie?" Elisa questioned Mal and Evie with a small laugh as Ben began to dance. Elisa had to admit his singing and dancing was so good, she was really impressed. At one point during the song, Ben had taken off his jersey and threw it to her. She caught with a red face and her friends had teased her about that.
Ben had crowd surfaced towards the end of the song and ended up by her at the end. He was staring at her with a loving smile, still having a dazed look in his eyes. The crowd was cheering around them and Elisa was laughing a bit, still having a blush on her cheeks. Her eyes widen slightly when he leaned in and tried to kiss her. She quickly moved her head, still blushing as he kissed her cheek instead and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"I love you, Elisa. Did I mention that?" Ben asked softly. Suddenly, the mic was ripped from his hand by Audrey, who had joined them with Chad.
"Chad's my boyfriend now!" Audrey declared, smiling at Chad, who looked confused but went along with it. "And I'm going to the coronation with him. So I don't need your pity date." She then cupped Chad's face and kissed him. Elisa noticed Evie's hurt look and she frowned, knowing Evie did have a crush on Chad. Evie deserved so much better than Chad anyway, he was a jerk.
Ben takes the mic back from her, looking at Elisa hopefully. "Elisa, will you go to the coronation with me?"
Elisa's eyes widen and she felt her stomach do flips. She knew it was the love spell talking, this was the plan. But she still couldn't deny her own feelings. "Yes." She answered, trying to fight the smile threatening to grow on her face.
"She said yes!" Ben cheered. Audrey scoffed and stormed off as everyone cheered for Ben and Elisa.
Elisa was happy, but at the same time she was nervous. Her mind was spinning and her heart was racing. She was going to the coronation with Ben, the boy she's been in love with for years. But he was under the influence of a love spell so it wasn't really him asking her out. She couldn't deny how happy and excited she was, though.
"That was the weirdest thing I've ever seen." Krystal laughed a little, a teasing look in her eyes as she watched Jay drag Ben back over to the tourney field where the rest of the team was waiting for him.
"But it was pretty cool." Parker smiles. "I had no idea he could sing or dance like that."
"Yeah, me neither." Elisa chuckled, still in shock over everything that just happened. She was also still blushing and her heart was still racing. She had to admit though, that was the sweetest thing anyone's ever done for her. She knew he was doing this because of the love spell, but a part of her hoped he was doing it because of his own feelings.
As the cheers from the crowd began to fade and the players started to disperse from the field, Elisa found herself caught in a whirlwind of emotions. She glanced over at Ben, who was still beaming at her with adoration in his eyes. Despite knowing that his feelings were influenced by the love spell, she couldn't help but feel a flutter in her chest at the sight of his smile. She felt a warmth in her heart, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink. Even if he wasn't acting this way because of the love spell, she couldn't deny the happiness she felt in that moment. He had finally noticed her and wanted her, even if it was only temporary. But maybe, just maybe, after all this was over, he'd still want her. She could only hope.

CHAPTER SIX (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
The two then spend a couple of hours at the garden, just talking and enjoying the peacefulness of it. They both had fun catching up and laughing together. It was like no time had passed. They had watched the sun go down, the sky becoming dark. The stars were shining and the moon was out. It was a perfect night and the garden was beautiful, but Ben could barely take his eyes off Elisa.
He had missed her so much. It had been hard without her by his side. She was always there to encourage him and to comfort him when he was sad or scared. No one had been able to fill the empty spot she had left. He had missed having her around and he was so happy to have her back. He would do anything for her. As they walked back to the school, he couldn't help but notice how beautiful the moonlight made her. Her blond hair shined and her blue eyes sparkled in the soft light. She was absolutely stunning. He had always thought that she was beautiful, but he had never been more aware of it than he was at this moment.
Elisa felt the weight of his gaze, and her heart raced. She couldn't help but feel self-conscious, wondering if she looked as flustered as she felt. She wasn't sure what was happening between them, but she knew that something was shifting. She had spent years burying her feelings for him, trying to deny the truth. But she couldn't deny it any longer. Not when he was looking at her like that.
"You're staring." Elisa pointed out, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. She knew it was bold, but she couldn't help herself.
Ben flushes, ducking his head. "Sorry," He apologizes, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "It's just...You're beautiful, Elisa. You always have been, but tonight...You're absolutely radiant." He admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. He couldn't believe he had just said that out loud, but it was the truth.
Elisa's heart skipped a beat at his words and she could feel the heat rising in her cheeks. She was rarely at a loss for words, but in that moment, she was utterly speechless. "Benny..." Elisa whispers, her eyes wide with surprise and delight. He had called her beautiful before, but never like this. She had stopped walking, looking over at him. He was staring at her with an expression that was a mixture of adoration and awe. This was so much different from the other times when he called her beautiful. His gaze was filled with so much emotion and he looked so sincere. It took her breath away. "Thank you...You're so sweet." She stammered, trying to collect herself.
Ben smiled at her, his gaze soft and tender. He could hardly believe how beautiful she looked, and the way her hair blew gently in the breeze, the moonlight illuminating her face. "It's the truth, El." He stated softly, reaching up and brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear.
Elisa felt her breath hitch at his touch and she fought the urge to lean into his hand. She couldn't believe this was actually happening. Ben was looking at her like she was the only woman in the world and it was making her head spin. She was pretty sure she had never seen him look at anyone like that before, not even Audrey. Ben couldn't help but notice how the moonlight illuminated her features, highlighting her cheekbones and making her blue eyes seem even more striking. He couldn't tear his gaze away from her, entranced by her beauty.
Elisa forces herself to take a step back, knowing that if she didn't put some distance between them, she might do something she'd regret. As much as she wanted to throw caution to the wind and kiss him, she knew it wasn't the right time. They had only just reconnected, and he was still with Audrey. As much as it pained her to say it, she needed to let him sort out his relationship before pursuing anything. She had waited years for him, she could wait a little bit longer. "We, uh," She clears her throat, breaking the tension. "We should get back. It's getting late."
Ben nods, reluctantly stepping back. "Right." He agreed, though he didn't want to go. He wanted to stay here with her, in their own little world. But he knew she was right. It was getting late and they had class in the morning. They started walking again, the tension still lingering in the air. Neither of them said anything, but they were both thinking the same thing. Something had shifted between them, and there was no going back.
Ben had soon walked Elisa to her dorm room and now they're standing outside the door in the hallway.
"Thanks for showing me the garden. It's really beautiful." Elisa murmurs, her stomach doing flips. She could barely focus, her mind replaying his words and how he looked at her earlier. "I missed that place a lot."
Ben smiles at her. "Of course. It's our place after all." He said. "I missed it too." He admits, his eyes twinkling with affection. They stood there for a moment, neither of them wanting the night to end. "So, I was thinking maybe you and I could hang out again tomorrow. If you're not busy, that is. Maybe we could hang out after the Tourney game." He suggested, sounding a bit nervous and hopeful.
Elisa's eyes widened in surprise as a smile graced her lips. "Of course I'd like to hang out with you tomorrow." Elisa beams, her heart fluttering. "And I'll definitely be at your Tourney game." She added, giggling a little when he smiled widely, his eyes lighting up.
"Great!" Ben grins, unable to hide his excitement. Elisa couldn't help the small giggle that left her lips when she saw how happy he was. "Well, then, I'll see you tomorrow, El." Ben said softly. He wanted to kiss her goodbye, but he didn't. Instead, he leaned in and kissed her cheek. It wasn't a long kiss, but it was enough to make Elisa's cheeks flush and her heart race. He pulls back with a shy smile, his cheeks slightly pink. "Good night, Elisa." He murmured before turning and walking away.
Elisa watched him go, the smile never leaving her face. She was still reeling from his kiss on her cheek. It was such a simple gesture, but it meant the world to her. She could still feel the warmth of his lips against her skin and the scent of his cologne lingered in the air. She felt giddy and excited, and a little bit overwhelmed. It had been such a perfect night and she couldn't wait to see him again.
When Elisa walked inside her dorm, she closed the door behind her and leaned against it, letting out a content sigh. It was nice hanging out with her best friend again and catching up. It was almost as if nothing had changed between them.
"Wow, you look happy." Krystal teases, looking at her cousin with a grin. Elisa snaps her gaze over to her cousin after she's brought out of her thoughts and her face turns red out of embarrassment. The red-haired girl sat on her bed, wearing her pjs and was staring at her cousin with a raised brow and a playful smile. "So, have fun with Ben?"
"Always." Elisa replies automatically, not even thinking about her response. She pushes herself off the door and went over to her dresser to get her pjs out so she can get ready for bed. "I really missed him a lot while I was gone." Krystal coughs loudly and looks offended when Elisa glanced at her. Elisa rolls her eyes playfully. 'And you, of course. You know that, Krys."
Krystal grins and nods her head, satisfied. "Good, because I'm your favorite cousin." She pointed out.
"Yeah, yeah. You're my only cousin, but fine." Elisa chuckles, shaking her head. She quickly gets changed and joins Krystal on her bed. "I really enjoyed spending time with him. He's always been my best friend and it was nice getting to hang out with him again."
"You two have always been so adorable." Krystal comments, nudging her shoulder against her cousin's. "I'm glad you guys are reconnecting and hanging out again. I know he missed you a lot. You would not believe how much he has been moping around since you had to leave. You should've seen him. He was all sulky and everything."
Elisa couldn't help but giggle, the mental image making her heart warm. She had missed Ben, and she was glad to hear that he had missed her too. She couldn't help but feel a flicker of hope, that maybe his feelings for her had changed, and he finally felt the same way about her. But she quickly brushed those thoughts aside, knowing that she needed to be patient and give him time to sort out his relationship with Audrey. She wasn't about to interfere and cause a rift between her best friend and the woman he loved. No matter how much it hurt.
Krystal looks at her with a raised brow and a mischievous smirk. "You still have feelings for him, don't you?"
Elisa freezes at her question, her eyes widening and her cheeks flushed. She was hoping that her feelings weren't that obvious, but it seems that she was wrong. "Um, what? No. I don't-I'm not-What?" She stuttered, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Oh, come on, Lissy. You can't fool me." Krystal scoffs, rolling her eyes. "I've known you your whole life, and I can tell when you're in love with someone. You've got that look in your eyes."
Elisa couldn't deny it any longer, and she sighed in defeat. "Fine, okay, yes, I have feelings for him. Happy now?" She asked, her voice laced with sarcasm.
Krystal's eyes lit up and she grinned from ear to ear. "Oh, I knew it!" She squeals, her eyes twinkling. "Have you told him yet?"
"Did you forget he's dating Audrey?" Elisa deadpanned, arching a brow. "I'm not gonna tell him how I feel. Not yet, anyway. He needs time to figure out his relationship and I don't wanna mess things up for him. So, please, Krys, don't say anything." She pleaded, giving her cousin a stern look.
Krystal pouts and lets out a dramatic sigh. "Ugh, fine. I won't say anything." She promises, though she looked a bit disappointed. "But you should tell him how you feel, Lissy. Before it's too late."
"It's not that easy, Krys." Elisa sighs, running a hand through her hair. "There's a lot at stake here. I don't wanna lose his friendship if things go south. I just got him back, and I don't wanna ruin what we have."
"I understand where you're coming from, Lissy, but you need to be honest with him. It's not fair to either of you if you keep hiding your feelings." Krystal reasons, placing a hand on her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. "You'll never know how he feels unless you talk to him. So, promise me you'll at least think about it."
Elisa chews her bottom lip and gives her cousin a hesitant nod. "I'll think about it." She relented, knowing that she would most likely tell him how she felt eventually. She couldn't keep her feelings a secret forever, and she didn't want to.
"Good." Krystal replies with a satisfied nod. "That's all I ask. Now, let's get some sleep. It's getting late and I'm tired." She yawned, laying down on her bed.
"Agreed." Elisa nodded, getting up and went over to get on her bed and climb under the covers. She turned off the lamp and they were both shrouded in darkness. She stared up at the ceiling, her mind racing with thoughts of Ben and what could happen between them. She hoped that everything would work out, and that they could finally be together, but she knew that there were a lot of obstacles in their way. She would have to wait and see what happens.

CHAPTER FIVE (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
Later that day Elisa was in Evie's and Mal's room again, this time Carlos and Dude were with them. They were all doing their own thing, but that was something Elisa loved about their friendship. They didn't always have to talk, they were all comfortable with being in the same room without speaking a word. Sometimes Elisa liked the silence. And other times she would have fun chatting with her friends.
Elisa was still reading the book from earlier, now she was half way done with it. She glances up when Jay entered the room, smiling at noticing he had a Tourney jersey on. She assumed he got on the team. Carlo laughs at Jay's excitement and whistled as Jay showed off the jersey and did some poses. Elisa chuckles and rolls her eyes. "Great job getting on the team, Jay. Though, I'm not surprised, you're a natural at it."
"Thanks, Ellie." Jay grinned and did a dramatic bow, making her laugh. He then walks over to where Mal was sitting on her bed, looking through her spell book. "Did your plan work with Jane? Are we going over to see the wand?" He inquired and that reminded Elisa of the plan. Mal had tried to convince Jane to let her mom use the wand and when she did to let her be there when it happened. But it seemed like the plan didn't work.
"Do you think that I would be going through every single spell in this book if I hadn't completely struck out?" Mal snapped.
"Someone's in a bad mood." Carlos noticed.
"My mom's counting on me! I can't let her down!" Mal defended herself, reaching over to flick the back of Carlos' head. He had been sitting on the floor in front of her bed and so she didn't have far to reach. He winced when she did that, rubbing his head.
"We can do this!" Jay starts, gaining everyone's attention. "If we stick together." They're all a bit surprised by his sudden pep talk, but no one comments on that.
"And we won't go back until we do." Mal chimes in. "Because we're rotten..."
"To the core." Everyone else finished, but they all sounded a bit hesitant with it.
"Oh, yeah. I found out that Fairy Godmother blesses Ben with the wand at coronation and we all get to go. I have nothing to wear of course." Evie frowned, shaking her head.
Mal is quiet for a moment and knocking on the door is heard before she speaks up. "What?" Evie asked after seeing her look.
"Hold that thought." Mal pointed at her and got up to answer the door. She opens the door and Elisa is surprised to see Ben there. She sat up straighter, smiling at the sight of her best friend.
"Hey, Mal." Ben greets, his gaze scanning the room and noticing her other friends were with her. His gaze lingers on Elisa longer and she gave him a smile. He then looks back at Mal. "I didn't see you guys today. I was just wondering if you had any questions or anything that you needed."
"Not that I know of." Mal shakes her head, glancing back at her friends for confirmation and when they shook their heads as well, she looked back at Ben.
"Okay. Alright. Well, uh, if you need anything, just...Uh..." Ben's voice trailed off as he began to back away.
"Oh, wait!" Mal calls out, stopping him. "Um, is it true that we all get to go to your coronation?"
"Yeah, the whole school goes." Ben smiled.
"Wow." Mal said with surprise. "That is beyond exciting. Do you think that it's a possibility that the five of us could stand in the front row next to the Fairy Godmother just so we could soak up all that goodness?" She smiled, tilting her head to the side.
Ben sheepishly smiles. "I wish you could. Up front it's just me, my folks, and my girlfriend."
Mal nods slowly, raising her eyebrows. "And your girlfriend?"
Ben looks at her apologetically. "Yeah, I'm sorry."
"Okay, thanks. Bye." Mal smiled, closing the door.
"Oh, but, no there's plenty of..." Ben's voice faded while Mal closed the door and Elisa was quick to notice the frown on her Ben's face. She felt bad for him, but she couldn't worry about that. She glanced at Mal when she spoke up.
"I think it's time that Bennyboo got himself a new girlfriend. And who better than his best friend?" Mal smirked, looking over at Elisa.
It took Elisa awhile to understand what she meant, but once she did, her eyes widened and she quickly shook her head. "Nope. No. Not gonna happen. Never." She denied.
"Come on, Elisa, please?" Mal pleads. "It's literally perfect. Out of all of us you're the closest to him. He's not going to suspect anything from you. You'd be the perfect fake girlfriend. So now I need a love spell." She grinned, gesturing for Carlos to hand her spell book to her.
Carlos smiled, grabbing the book from her bed and tossing it to her. Mal caught it and grinned. Elisa bit her lip nervously, fidgeting with the ring she wore. She was really nervous about this idea. Mostly because over the years of being apart from Ben she had realized her feelings had changed to romantic for him. She couldn't use a love spell on him, that wasn't right. It wasn't fair to him.
❄❄❄❄
Later that night, Elisa met up with Ben at the gazebo like they planned. Her nerves were going haywire which was not good for her powers so that's why she had brought her gloves just in case. She didn't want to accidentally harm him. As soon as he saw her, he walked over with a bright smile. She had always been able to bring a smile to his face. She had also always been able to relax him, making him feel safe. That was her favorite thing, being able to bring comfort and happiness to someone.
"Hey." Ben greets, giving her a quick hug. She returns the hug with a small smile. When they pulled away, he glances down at her hands, noticing the gloves and raises his eyebrows. "You nervous about something?" He asked softly, concern shining in his eyes. He had learned over the years when she wasn't confident about keeping control of her powers or she was nervous about something she would put her gloves on. But she shouldn't feel that way about being with him. It made his heart ache a little to think she might be nervous around him.
"I guess you could say that." Elisa shrugs, trying to act and sound nonchalant. She didn't want him to know what she was really feeling. She didn't want to burden him with her problems. He had his own problems to worry about, the last thing he needed was her troubles too. But he could see right through her, like he always could. After seeing the look in his eyes, she sighs heavily and her shoulders drop in defeat. "I'm sorry, I'm just nervous and worried about messing this up. We haven't hung out in so long and I just don't want to mess this up and ruin everything."
Ben frowns, taking a hold of her gloved hands and he gently squeezed them. "Hey, you could never mess anything up." He promised.
"Yeah, I mean, that's what I'd like to believe." Elisa mumbled, trying to ignore her heart skipping a beat at his touch. It wasn't fair, he was her best friend and now the only person who could ever make her heart beat like this was him. She had tried dating a few people on the Isle, but it just never worked. It never felt right and her heart never reacted the way it does around Ben. She was hopelessly in love with him and she hated it. Because she couldn't be with him, not the way she wanted.
Ben's frown deepens and he steps closer to her, causing her heart to continue to race and she was sure he could hear it which caused her face to turn red out of embarassment. Elisa could feel her cheeks flushing as Ben stepped closer, his concern evident in his eyes. She wanted to hide her feelings, bury them deep down where they couldn't cause any trouble, but being so close to him made it nearly impossible to keep up the facade.
"Elisa," Ben said softly, his voice carrying a mix of understanding and warmth. "You know you can talk to me, right? Whatever's on your mind, I'm here for you."
Elisa could feel her cheeks flushing as Ben stepped closer, his concern evident in his eyes. She wanted to hide her feelings, bury them deep down where they couldn't cause any trouble, but being so close to him made it nearly impossible to keep up the facade.
"Elisa," Ben said softly, his voice carrying a mix of understanding and warmth, "you know you can talk to me, right? Whatever's on your mind, I'm here for you."
She nodded, feeling a lump forming in her throat. How could she possibly tell him what was truly bothering her? That she had been harboring feelings for him, feelings she knew she shouldn't have, especially given their current circumstances. It was all too complicated, too messy.
"I appreciate that, Ben," She replies, managing a weak smile. "But really, it's nothing. I'm just tired, that's all. This whole week has been a bit overwhelming."
Ben gives her a knowing look. He wasn't convinced, but he wasn't going to push the issue any further. He knew she would tell him when she was ready, and for now, he would give her the space she needed. "Okay," He says gently, giving her a reassuring smile. "Just remember, I'm always here for you. And El, you could never mess anything up, especially not our friendship. Just because we've been apart from each other for a few years doesn't change anything. That's what I believe and I hope you do too." Ben added, looking hopeful and a bit nervous for her response. He wanted her to believe in their friendship, because even though it was different now, it didn't mean their friendship wasn't as strong as it had been. They had a bond, a bond that couldn't be broken by distance or time. He believed in that. And he hoped she did too.
Elisa felt a surge of warmth at Ben's words, his sincerity cutting through her anxiety like a ray of sunshine. She realized in that moment just how much she missed him, missed his unwavering support and understanding. Despite the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside her, she managed a genuine smile, grateful for his reassurance.
"Thank you, Ben," She said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "I needed to hear that. And you're right, our friendship means everything to me. No amount of time or distance could ever change that." She squeezed his hands gently, the gesture a silent acknowledgment of their unbreakable bond.
Ben's smile widened, sense of relief washing over him at her response. He was glad he was able to help ease some of her worries, even if it was only a little bit. He could tell there was still something bothering her, but he wouldn't press her on it. If she wanted to talk, she would, and for now, he was just happy to have his best friend back.
"Good, 'cause I missed hanging out with you." Ben pulls her in for a hug. "I missed you." He mumbled, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Her hair was tickling his face, but he didn't care. All that mattered was that she was there and she was in his arms. The way it should be. And for the first time since they've been reunited, he finally felt like everything was right in the world again. He missed her so much. He missed her hugs too. Elisa's hugs were always comforting and warm, wrapping him in a sense of security that he had sorely missed during their time apart. And Ben always felt at home when she would give him one. He could tell from her tightening embrace that she missed him just as much. And that made his heart skip a beat.
Elisa sighed contently, allowing herself to savor the moment. She cherished this moment, relishing in the familiarity of Ben's presence and the warmth of his embrace. But at the same time, she couldn't shake the guilt gnawing at her conscience. In that fleeting moment, she allowed herself to indulge in the fantasy that maybe, just maybe, there could be something more between them. But she quickly quashed that thought, burying it deep within the recesses of her mind. It was a dangerous path to tread, one that could potentially jeopardize their friendship and complicate their already complicated situation. As much as it pained her, she knew it was for the best.
"I missed you, too." Elisa whispered. She had missed her best friend a lot. Being sent to the Isle was hard and it had been even worse without her best friend. Even though she had her other friends and they did their best to help her through her rough times, it wasn't the same. No one could ever replace Ben. Elisa buried her face in Ben's neck, her body relaxing when he wrapped his arms tighter around her. His hugs had always made her feel safe and secure, like nothing else in the world mattered. And right now, that was exactly what she needed.
Ben could feel his heartbeat quicken as Elisa burrowed further into his embrace, his cheek pressed against the top of her head. He breathed in her scent, the familiar floral aroma bringing back a flood of memories from their childhood. Memories of sunny days spent chasing each other through the gardens, of secret late-night conversations under the stars on the balcony of her room, of whispered promises and dreams for the future. It was in that moment that Ben realized just how much he truly loved her. Not in a platonic way, no. It was more than that, far more. And that scared him, it terrified him. But it also filled him with a sense of determination, a resolve to make things right between them and to show her just how much she meant to him.
They stay there for a few more moments, both enjoying the comfort of the other's presence. They've been apart for years and they both missed this, missed being able to be with each other, to be in each other's arms. The gentle rustle of the wind and the soft glow of the moon provided a serene backdrop to their silent reunion, each moment stretching out into eternity as they clung to each other, unwilling to let go.
"Come on, I have an idea." Ben spoke up, his voice slightly muffled due to the fact that his face was still buried in the crook of her neck. Elisa slowly pulled away from him, her eyes meeting his and a question in her gaze. Ben simply smiled, taking her hand and leading her towards the woods.
"Where are we going?" Elisa asked, a hint of amusement in her voice. She didn't mind where they went, she just wanted to spend time with him.
"Just trust me." Ben replied, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Elisa shook her head, laughing softly as she followed him into the forest, the moonlight casting a pale glow on the path ahead.
It didn't take long for them to reach their destination, the clearing they used to go to when they were younger. It had been years since they'd last come here, yet it was still as magical as ever, the stars twinkling above and the night air filled with the sweet scent of wildflowers. The trees opened up and they were in a beautiful garden. It was filled with lots of flowers and there was a pond not too far from where they were standing.
Ben couldn't help but grin at the sight, the nostalgia hitting him like a tidal wave. He had so many fond memories of this place, of the countless hours they had spent here, just the two of them. Elisa's eyes lit up as she recognized the place, her lips curling into a soft smile. She had forgotten how beautiful it was, how peaceful and serene. It was like stepping back in time, to a simpler time when their biggest worries were whether or not their parents would catch them sneaking out.
"Oh, I've missed this place." Elisa murmured, her gaze sweeping across the clearing. It was a bittersweet feeling, being back here after all these years. But at the same time, it filled her with a sense of nostalgia and warmth, reminding her of the bond they shared and the memories they had created together.
"Me too," Ben agrees, his voice soft as he took in the tranquil surroundings. "It's like nothing has changed."
Elisa couldn't help but smile at his words, knowing he was referring to more than just the landscape. They had both changed a lot over the years, but deep down, their friendship was still the same, strong and unbreakable. Though they both didn't realize their feelings were starting to become more romantic to each other.
"It's beautiful." Elisa murmured, her gaze sweeping over the tranquil surroundings. The moonlight danced upon the surface of the pond, casting shimmering reflections that added to the ethereal atmosphere.
"Yeah, it always was." Ben agreed, a wistful smile playing on his lips as he took in the sight before them. He turned to face Elisa, his expression softening as he reached out to gently tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Elisa's breath caught in her throat at the intimate gesture, her heart fluttering in her chest as she met his gaze. There was something different in the way he looked at her, something she couldn't quite place but that made her pulse quicken with anticipation. Elisa clears her throat and forces herself to look away. "I almost forgot about this place." She admitted, bringing her gaze back to the scene in front of them. She had been on the Isle of the Lost for so long, and she had almost forgotten the beauty of Auradon.
Ben chuckled softly, his hand falling back to his side. "You didn't forget. You just pushed it aside." He explained. He knew her, and he knew that she could never completely forget about this place. It was a part of her, a piece of her heart and soul.
"How is it you know me more than I know myself?" Elisa let out a small laugh, but there was a hint of vulnerability in her voice. Ben's understanding of her always managed to both comfort and unsettle her, like he could see through the façade she so desperately tried to maintain.
Ben shrugs. "Just one of my many talents, I guess." He grinned at her, causing her to roll her eyes.
"Yeah, you and your many talents." Elisa teased with a chuckle. Ben was talented in many areas, and he had the drive and determination to excel in anything he put his mind to. He had always been the perfect prince, charming, kind, and hardworking. He was a natural leader, and Elisa couldn't help but admire his qualities.
"Remember when we found this place?" Ben asked, a fond smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Yeah," Elisa replies, her own smile widening as she reminisced. "We were just kids back then, sneaking out of the palace whenever we could to explore the woods. We stumbled upon this clearing by accident and it quickly became our secret hideout." She remembered the day as if it was yesterday. They were around 11 or 12 and it was a hot summer's day. They had snuck out of the palace and wanted to explore the forest near the gazebo. They ended up getting lost and finding this beautiful clearing. They had spent the whole day there, exploring the woods and enjoying the serenity of the place. It had become their special spot ever since.
Ben's smile widens, the memories flooding back. He remembers it all, every detail. From the way the sunlight would dance across the surface of the pond, to the way Elisa's eyes would sparkle with excitement as they ventured further into the forest. It was a place that held so many fond memories, a place where they could just be themselves, free from the pressures and expectations of their royal duties. "Remember when you would make snow appear and we would play in the snow for hours?"
"Yeah," Elisa grins. "That was fun. Your dad was not pleased when he found us." She snickered, recalling the disappointed and stern look Ben's dad had gave them when the guards brought them back.
Ben winces, remembering his father's reaction. "Yeah, he wasn't happy. But it was worth it." He smiled softly, his gaze locking with hers.
Elisa couldn't help but feel her heart melt at his gaze. Even as a kid, he had a way of making her feel like the most important person in the world. It was one of the many reasons she had fallen for him. Elisa grinned, glancing at him and her heart melts at the adoration in his eyes. She forced herself to look away from him and glanced around the clearing.
"So, have you told anyone else about this place?" Elisa asks curiously. They were now sitting on the grass next to the pond, the stars twinkling overhead. "Like Audrey?"
She couldn't help but add, curious to see if he brought his girlfriend here. She honestly hoped he didn't because this place was special, and it was their place. Though she understood why he would want to bring his girlfriend here, to share a special moment with her. But there was a part of her who wanted this place to just be for them, she's knows that's selfish but she couldn't help the pang of jealousy that shot through her at the thought of Ben sharing this place with someone else.
Ben shakes his head. "No, I haven't. This place...It's special, you know? It's ours. I didn't want to share it with anyone else." He admitted, a faint blush spreading across his cheeks. Elisa couldn't help the surge of relief that coursed through her at his response, the realization that he had kept this place sacred, just for them, warming her heart.
"Besides, I don't think Audrey would appreciate the place. Too nature-y." Ben added with a small chuckle.
Elisa let out a small laugh at that, the mental image of Audrey's reaction to the clearing making her grin. "Yeah, she's definitely not a fan of nature. That's for sure." She mused. She was surprised he had never told Audrey about the garden. He had always been the romantic type and it was the perfect place for a date. Then again, she and Ben were very different than Ben and Audrey. Audrey had never been much of a nature girl and she would've probably complained about getting dirt on her clothes.
As they sat there, reminiscing about old times and enjoying each other's company, Elisa couldn't shake the feeling of guilt that lingered in the back of her mind. She knew she had to tell Ben the truth, to confess her feelings and face whatever consequences that may come. But the fear of losing him, of ruining their friendship, kept her silent. She couldn't bear the thought of him rejecting her, of seeing the disappointment in his eyes. So instead, she buried her feelings deep down, hiding them away in the depths of her heart.
Ben felt guilty. He was still with Audrey, and here he was, having an amazing time with Elisa. His best friend and he was falling for her. In all honesty, his relationship with Audrey was great. They grew up together and were close friends, not as close as he was with Elisa, but still. While Audrey always had a crush on him, he was never really interested in her that way. She was beautiful, there was no denying that, but she was also vain and a bit self-absorbed.
She cared more about her looks and appearance than anything else. It was something Ben had grown to accept, but it was still annoying at times. They only dated because people expected them to date and for her to be the Queen of Auradon one day when he became King. He had been starting to think though she only agreed because she wanted to be Queen one day. They had been dating for almost a year now and while things were good, they weren't great. He was happy with her, but it wasn't the kind of happiness he was supposed to feel. There was no spark, no butterflies in his stomach, no heart racing.
Not like when he was with Elisa. With her, everything felt right. Like she was the missing puzzle piece that completed him. It scared him how quickly his feelings for her had developed. Ben couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt as he realized the depth of his feelings for Elisa. He had never intended to fall for his best friend, especially not while he was still in a relationship with Audrey. But the more time he spent with Elisa, the more he realized just how much she meant to him, how much he cared about her. It was a new feeling, and it was one that was both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.
"What's wrong, Benny?" Elisa questioned, snapping him out of his thoughts. Ben looked over at her, her blue eyes filled with concern. He couldn't help but admire her beauty, even in the dim light.
"Nothing." Ben replies quickly, forcing a smile. He sighs when he saw the disbelieving look on her face, knowing that she could see right through him. He was always a terrible liar when it came to her. "I'm thinking about breaking up with Audrey." He blurted out before he could stop himself. He hadn't meant to say that out loud, but the words had slipped out before he could stop them.
Elisa's eyes widened in surprise at his words. "Wait, what?" She asked, not quite believing what she had just heard. Ben's heart pounded in his chest as he watched Elisa's reaction, his stomach churning with nervous anticipation. He hadn't meant to blurt out his thoughts about breaking up with Audrey, but now that the words were out in the open, he couldn't take them back. He knew he had to be honest with Elisa, to tell her the truth about his feelings, no matter how difficult it may be.
"Yeah," Ben admits, his voice barely above a whisper. "I've been thinking about it for a while now. Things between Audrey and me... they're just not the same anymore. I care about her, I do, but...I don't think I've ever been in love with Audrey. We were always more of friends, and I guess that's what made it easier for me to go along with everyone's expectations." He knew he shouldn't be telling her this, but the words just kept tumbling out, the truth spilling from his lips like a waterfall. "But things changed. I mean, you came back. And I just...I don't know. All I know is that I can't keep pretending that things are okay between Audrey and me."
"I- I'm sorry. I didn't know." Elisa murmurs, her brows furrowing in confusion and concern. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. She had always known that Ben and Audrey's relationship wasn't perfect, but she had never expected Ben to admit that he didn't love her. Elisa knew that Ben didn't like being pressured into a relationship with someone, but she hadn't realized just how unhappy he was. She felt bad for not realizing this sooner. "You have to do what feels right, Benny. You can't stay in a relationship just because everyone expects it. Don't keep dating her, you're clearly not happy. If you wanna break up with her, then go ahead and do it. I'll support you no matter what." Elisa said sincerely, giving his shoulder a reassuring squeeze. She meant every word, and she wanted him to know that.
Ben smiles softly at her. "Thank you." He pauses, taking a deep breath before continuing. "I think I'm going to break up with her tomorrow when I see her in the morning." He decided, determination shining in his eyes. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he knew it was the right thing to do. He couldn't keep pretending, not when his heart belonged to someone else. And that someone was sitting right next to him.
Elisa nods in understanding, her heart aching for him. She knew how difficult it must be for him to make such a big decision, especially considering the circumstances. But she also knew that it was the right thing to do, for both him and Audrey. "Just be careful. You know Audrey's not going to take it well." She cautioned, a hint of worry in her voice.
Ben nods, knowing that she was right. Audrey wasn't exactly the most level-headed person, and he knew that she was likely to cause a scene if she didn't get her way. But he also knew that he couldn't keep living a lie, that he couldn't continue to pretend that everything was okay. It wasn't fair to him, and it certainly wasn't fair to Audrey. He had to end things, and he had to do it for his own sake. Ben smiles gratefully at Elisa, his heart warming at her words. He was lucky to have such a supportive friend by his side, and he was grateful for her constant encouragement. "Thanks, Ellie. For everything."
Elisa returns his smile, her heart swelling with affection for her best friend. "Anytime, Ben. You know I've got your back." She squeezed his hand reassuringly, silently promising to stand by him no matter what challenges lay ahead.

CHAPTER FOUR (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
Elisa never thought she would be in a Remedial Goodness 101 class, but here she was, sitting at a desk next to Mal and Evie. She had pulled up a chair at the desk, so they could all sit together. Fairy Godmother was the teacher of the class and she stood in front of the chalkboard.
"If someone hands you a crying baby, do you A, curse it? B, lock it in a tower? C, give it a bottle?" Elisa snickers quietly when she saw Evie shake her head at that answer. "Or D, carve out its heart?" Evie smiled brightly, raising her hand.
"Evie!" Fairy Godmother pointed at her with a smile.
"What was the second one?" Evie curiously asked.
"Oh. Okay. Anyone else?" Fairy Godmother questions with a smile. Her gaze lands on Elisa when she raised her hand. "I'm sure you know this one, Elisa, but let's let someone else answer for once." Elisa rolled her eyes, lowering her hand. Fairy Godmother's gaze lands on Mal. "Mal?"
"C, give it a bottle." Mal answered, a bored look on her face as she continued drawing.
"Correct. Again." Fairy Godmother smiled.
"You are on fire, girl!" Carlos commented.
Mal shrugs. "Just pick the one that doesn't sound like any fun."
Carlos and Evie nod in realization. "That makes so much sense." Evie realized and Elisa chuckled lightly. Elisa raised her eyebrows when she noticed Jane, daughter of Fairy Godmother, walk into the room. She let out a small squeal, looking scared when she walked past them. She walked over to her mom, handing her papers.
"Hello, dear one." Fairy Godmother greeted softly.
"Hi." Jane quietly replies. "You need to sign off an early dismissal for the coronation." She looked back at the Vks nervously.
"Everyone here remembers my daughter, Jane?" Fairy Godmother spoke with a smile, signing the paper for her daughter.
Jane sends her a panicked look. "Mom, no!"
"It's okay, Jane, this is everyone." Fairy Godmother handed the paper and pen back to her daughter, gently guiding her to face the other teens.
Jane shyly waves, quietly speaking again. "Hi."
"Nice to see you again, Jane." Elisa spoke up, sending her a smile and that seemed to calm her down a bit.
"You too, Elisa." Jane smiles a little. When the others didn't say anything, she looks nervous again. "That's okay, don't mind me, as you were." She squealed again as she quickly walked past the group while leaving.
"Let's continue." Fairy Godmother said after clearing her throat. She turns back to the chalkboard. "You find a vial of poison. Do you A, put it in the king's wine? B, paint it on an apple? Or C, turn it over to the proper authorities?"
Evie gasps, raising her hand higher. The boys raise their hand at the same time as well and Elisa chuckle slightly, smiling with amusement when Jay shoved Carlos' hand down.
"Jay."
"C, you turn it over to the proper authorities." Jay smirked, lowering his arm and letting go of Carlos.
Carlos glares at him, hitting his arm. "I was gonna say that!"
"But I said it first!" Jay chuckled. Then he stood, getting Carlos in a headlock and gave him a noogie. Elisa chuckled and rolled her eyes, kicking her legs up on a nearby chair. She crossed her arms, leaning against the chair she sat on. Mal and Evie paid no attention to the boys roughhousing. Evie was checking her lipstick in her mirror and Mal was drawing.
"Boys," Fairy Godmother speaks up, hitting her pointer on the podium to get their attention. She raises her voice when that didn't work. "Boys! I am gonna encourage you to use that energy on the tourney field."
"Oh, no. That's okay." Carlos reassures her. "Whatever that is, we'll pass." He and Jay got off the table and sat back down.
❄❄❄❄
Despite what Carlos said, he and Jay still went to the tourney field. Elisa had stayed to watch practice and Jay was actually really good at it. Carlos definitely needed some work, but Elisa was happy to find out Ben offered to help him.
"Elisa!"
Elisa pauses in the hallway when she heard that familiar voice. She sighs, turning around and facing her cousin with a nervous smile. "Hi, Krystal."
"Are you going to the library?" Krystal questioned, nodding her head towards the direction Elisa was heading.
"Yeah, I was. I have to work on something." Elisa explains, shifting awkwardly. "I know I already apologized, but I'm sorry for last night. I really am."
Krystal sighs. "I'm sorry for what I said too, I was just so upset and hurt."
"I know. I was upset and hurt too. And I'm so scared, Krys." Elisa admits, a sad look forming on her face. "I'm terrified of what's happening." She confesses. "I've been so confused and lost, and I'm scared. I'm so scared that I've changed for the worst."
"Elisa," Krystal begins, reaching over and grabbing her hand. "I don't think you've changed for the worse. I know that you're scared, but I know you and I know you wouldn't change for the worst. You have such a kind heart, Lisa. The Isle has changed you, yes, but I don't think it made you evil..Just guarded. And I can't imagine how terrifying and confusing it must be, and I'm so sorry you have to go through this. But I want you to know that no matter what happens, I'll always love you. You're my best friend and cousin, and you'll always be family. I just really hope we can find a way so you and your friends don't have to do what you planned to do and make them realize they have good in them too. They deserve better."
"That's what I'm hoping for too." Elisa smiles, a few tears falling down her cheeks. She wipes them away, giving her cousin's hand a squeeze. "Okay, enough of this sad stuff." She chuckles lightly. "I should probably go, I still have work to do."
"Of course. I'll let you get to it." Krystal smiles and hugs her. "I'll see you later, Lisa."
"Yeah, I'll see you later." Elisa returned the smile. She watched her cousin leave before heading to the library, her mood a bit better than before. She was still confused about herself, but at least she had her cousin. And she was hoping things will work out for her and the other kids from the Isle.
❄❄❄❄
After Elisa left the library, she noticed Parker talking with Mal at her locker and she smiled at seeing they were getting along. Elisa knew they did have some things in common, they both loved art and it looked like they were talking about that since Parker had pointed at the art Mal did on her locker door. She was surprised that Parker had gotten the courage to talk to Mal, he had always been a bit shy and reserved. But Elisa was happy to see he was starting to come out of his shell a little. And it seemed like Mal was enjoying talking with him even though she tried not to act like it. Elisa smiled fondly at them and walked over to her locker to put the books away that she didn't need.
Elisa had noticed Audrey, Chad, and Ben nearby, she shared a smile with Ben when she walked past them but she ignored Audrey and Chad. She hated them, they were the reason she was sent to the Isle in the first place. But she kept quiet, not wanting to cause a scene or get into trouble. As Elisa closed her locker, she jumped with surprise when she suddenly saw Ben leaning against the other locker. Her gaze went to where he had been with Audrey and Chad, seeing them walking away. She looked back at Ben with a small smile, tilting her head to the side.
"Hey, Ben." She greeted.
"Hi." Ben smiles. "I just wanted to see how your first day being back at Auradon Prep was going."
"It's been pretty great. It's nice being back and hanging out with Krystal and my other friends I missed. You are included in that, of course." Elisa added the last part with a smile.
Ben laughs, nodding his head. "Yeah, of course." His face softens and he looks guilty. "Look, I'm so sorry you had got sent to the Isle. If I had known Audrey and Chad were the ones who made you lose control of your powers, I would've tried harder to stop them, I would've gone straight to my parents, I would've-"
"Ben," Elisa interrupts him, grabbing his hand and squeezing it. "I'm okay. You have nothing to apologize for." She assured him, a warm feeling growing in her chest when he squeezed her hand back.
"But I do." Ben insists, his expression pained. "You were sent to the Isle for something Audrey and Chad caused. It was their fault, not yours. And you didn't deserve that." He shakes his head. "It's not fair. You didn't deserve any of it."
Elisa's heart pangs in her chest and she could feel her eyes burning with tears. She quickly blinked them away and cleared her throat, dropping his hand. "Ben, really, I'm okay. The past is in the past and besides, we can't change what had happened. And while I agree, it's not fair, I'm not mad at you." She gives him a smile. "So please, just drop it."
Ben didn't seem satisfied, but he nods his head. "If you say so. But please let me know if there's anything I can do to make things up to you."
"I'll let you know." Elisa nods. After being quiet for a few moments, her lips curled up into a smile. "We're still meeting up at the gazebo tonight, right?"
Ben's face lit up, a bright smile forming. "Yeah, of course, I'm excited, I missed spending time with you." He says, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "You're my best friend."
"You're my best friend too." Elisa returns his smile, her heart fluttering when she saw the pink tint on his cheeks. "I'll see you tonight, then." She then waved and walked off, the smile still on her face. She was excited for the night, she did miss spending time with Ben. He had always been a big part of her life and it felt so weird being away from him. Elisa was so relieved that they were able to pick up their friendship right where they had left off, though.
❄❄❄❄
Elisa sat on one of the beds in Mal's and Evie's room where she was hanging out with them and Jane as well. She was leaned back against the headboard, her legs crossed at her ankles and she had a book in her hands. Elisa had been reading, but now her attention was on the conversation the others were having. Evie had been sewing a new dress while Mal was drawing in her sketch book, laying on her stomach on the other bed.
"Mom said, 'If a boy can't see the beauty within, then he's not worth it.'" Jane scoffs. "Can you believe it? What world does she live in?"
"Auradon." Mal remarked and Elisa chuckled, watching Jane sit down on the bed she was on with a pout.
"Jane, I have to agree with your mom," Elisa admits. "I know that's not what you wanna hear, but she does have a point. The boy should see you're beautiful inside and out. That's when you know he's worth it." She shrugged.
Jane pouts, but she nods. "Yeah, I guess."
"Mal, El, do you like it?" Evie's question gained Mal's and Elisa's attention. They glance over at Evie to see her holding up a dress she was working on. The dress was dark blue and black, Evie's signature colors (also sometimes red was added). Elisa had to admit she loved everything Evie made, Evie was so talented.
"Yeah, I love it." Elisa nodded, a smile on her face. She could see the pleased smile on Evie's face from her compliment.
"Yeah, it's cute. It brings out your eyes." Mal replied, glancing up only to look at the dress before looking back at the sketchbook as she kept drawing.
Evie looks at her dress with a smile. "I know." She then resumed sewing.
"I'll never get a boyfriend." Jane complained, laying down beside Elisa. Elisa chuckled softly, patting her back.
"Why are you even worrying about that? There's so many more important things than a boy." Elisa told her.
"Exactly," Mal agrees. "Boyfriends are overrated."
"And how would you know, Mal? You've never had one." Evie teased with a smirk on her face.
"It's 'cause I don't need one, E." Mal replies defensively and Evie raises her eyebrows. "They're a waste of time." She said to Jane.
Evie's sudden gasp startled Elisa, she had jumped a bit. She sends her a curious look. "What is it, E?"
"I forgot to do Chad's homework!" Evie exclaimed, getting up and she went to grab her backpack.
"What?" Elisa furrows her eyebrows, staring at her friend with confusion. "Why would you do his homework?"
"Because he asked her to." Mal rolled her eyes.
"I couldn't say no to his cute face." Evie sighed, taking out the homework she did for Chad.
"And that is exactly what I mean." Mal muttered while Elisa went back to reading her book and Jane had sat up on the bed. A knock is heard on the open door and Lonnie, daughter of Mulan, walked into the room.
"Hey, guys." Lonnie greets, walking into the room. "I'm Lonnie."
"Hey, Lonnie." Elisa replied, smiling at the brunette. She had been good friends with Lonnie before she was sent to the Isle and she was happy to be reunited with her again. Mal and Evie seemed confused though, not seeming to know who Lonnie is.
"My mom's Mulan." Lonnie explains and the girls still looked confused. "No? Anyways," She shrugs, glancing at Mal with a smile. "I love what you've done with Jane's hair. And I know you hate us and well, you're evil. But do you think you could do mine?"
Mal looks at her with furrowed eyebrows. "Why would I do that for you?" She asked, a hint of annoyance in her tone.
"I'll pay you $50." Lonnie offered, holding up a bag of coins that got Evie's attention.
Evie stands, taking the bag from her. "Good answer. I need to buy more material." She smiles, taking a closer look at Lonnie's bob cut she currently had. "Let's see, I'm thinking, we lose the bangs, maybe some layers and some highlights."
"Yeah, yeah, I want it cool." Lonnie smiles at Mal. "Like Mal's."
Evie raises her eyebrows, staring at her with disbelief. She glances at Mal, tilting her head to the side. "Really. The split ends too?" She inquired. Mal dropped her pencil, staring at Evie with annoyance and her expression was unamused. Evie shook the bag of coins with a smirk. Mal caved in eventually, groaning as she rolled off the bed.
Mal grabs her spellbook and went back over to her bed, leaning on the railing of the bed and began reading from the spellbook. She waves her hand around as she said the spell and seconds later Lonnie's hair completely changed. Lonnie now had beautiful brunette curls with blonde highlights. Lonnie walked over to the full length mirror, eyes wide at her new hair.
"I know, I know." Evie sympathizes, thinking Lonnie didn't like it. She stands by Lonnie, putting her hands on Lonnie's shoulders to comfort her. "It looks like a mop on your head. You know what? Let's cut it off. Layer it…"
"No, no, no, no, no, no!" Lonnie quickly says, stopping Evie from continuing. "I love it."
Evie pulls away from her, staring at her with disbelief. "You do?"
"It's just…" Lonnie's voice trails off as she looks at herself in the mirror. She thought something was missing and after realizing what it was, she reached down to her teal skirt and rips it, earning a surprised look from the others. "Now I'm cool."
"I don't think a ripped skirt will make you cool, but whatever." Elisa shrugged, returning to reading her book. She didn't understand how a ripped skirt and different hair was supposed to make her cool. But then again, this was Auradon. Usually everyone either wanted to be cool or look their best.
"Like ice." Mal remarked, smiling at Lonnie, who smiled back at her.
Jane then walks over to stand in front of the full length mirror with a nervous look. She rips the bottom of her dress, but then she gasps, covering her mouth. Elisa watches her with surprise, her eyebrows raising. She didn't expect Jane to do that. "What did I just do? Mom's gonna kill me!"

CHAPTER THREE (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
As Elisa stood in a dorm room, it felt so weird to be back in Auradon, but honestly she kind of missed it. Mal and Evie were paired up for a dorm while Elisa was paired up with someone else…Someone who happened to be her cousin, Krystal.
"Elisa!"
Elisa let out an 'oof' and she stumbles back slightly when she's suddenly tackled in a hug. "I missed you so much!"
As she realized her cousin was the one who had hugged her, a smile made its way to her lips. "I missed you too, Krys." She and Krystal pulled away from each other and Elisa faced the red-haired girl.
The daughter of Anna and Kristoff was smiling wide at Elisa. It was clear that she was really happy that Elisa was back. She had missed her cousin so much while she was away. "So, what's it like living on the Isle?" Krystal asked. She knew it was a dumb question to ask, but she was curious about the Isle.
Elisa shakes her head, knowing she wouldn't tell her about the horrible things that went on there. She would rather not get into detail about those. "It's not the best, but you know, we got by." She replied.
Krystal, getting the hint Elisa didn't want to talk about this anymore, decides to change the subject. "So, it seems like we're roommates! Which is great! This is my side, I hope you don't mind." She said as she gestured to the side of the room.
Elisa glances over with a smile. On Krystal's side of the room, it had polariods of her and her friends and her family. Some were drawings that Krystal had done. Her cousin was always artistic. There was a few books that Elisa saw that her cousin read a lot and a few posters that Elisa had seen from some of her favorite movies and tv shows. The walls were painted white with a beautiful green with blue flowers pattern. The floor was wood which was a nice contrast to the light pink carpet in Elisa's half of the room. It was very colorful and bright which was Krystal's style.
"This is your side." Krystal tells Elisa, pointing at the left side of the room. Krystal sheepishly smiles, rubbing the back of her neck. "I hope you don't mind I decorated it a bit for you." She admits.
Elisa shook her head and looked over at her side of the room. A smile made its way to her face. On her side of the room, the walls were white with purple and blue snowflakes. The floor was the same as the floor on Krystal's side. In the corner was a bed with light blue and purple blankets and a pillow that had a snowflake pattern on it. Nightstand by her bed like how it was on Krystal's side. A window with white curtains, a dresser, a desk, and a mirror were all around the room. Some pictures that Elisa had were hung up on the wall, most of her and her family and others of her and her friends. She noticed other personal items were on her side of her room from home and she smiled to herself, her heart warming. She walked over to her side of the room and laid her bag on the bed. She walked over to her dresser, looking at the items on top of it.
Different little trinkets and things her parents have gotten her were on her dresser. Her fingers grazed the different items, remembering the times when she got them. She appreciated Krystal took the time to do all this for her. She missed her family dearly, but being able to see the things her family had given her was enough to make her feel happy.
"I hope you don't mind I did this, Lisa." Krystal speaks up, biting her lip and as Elisa glances over her shoulder at her cousin, she saw she was twirling a strand of her red-hair. Elisa knew it was something she did when she was nervous. "I just, uh, wanted you to feel a little more at home and you know, feel welcomed."
"I appreciate it." Elisa gave her cousin a small smile. "Really, I do. Thank you, Krystal."
Krystal beams. "Of course, Elisa! I'm so glad you're back here, even though I know this wasn't exactly your choice."
"I'm honestly happy I'm back." Elisa admits. "It's…nice, being able to see everyone again…" Her voice trailed off, her gaze landing on a picture of her and Ben on her desk. Her lips curved upwards at noticing the picture was from the time when they went ice skating and Ben had helped her after she had fallen down and then they had gotten hot chocolate afterwards. She had suggested to take a selfie together. That was her favorite memory.
A knowing smile tugs on Krystal's lips. "Especially Ben?"
Her cousin's comment broke her out of her thoughts and Elisa looks back over at her. She shrugs, but there was a smile on her lips. "He is the reason why I'm here."
"Yeah, but that annoying Audrey is in the way of you two." Krystal rolled her eyes with a pout.
"Not really a fan of Audrey, but she's not in the way. Nothing will come between Ben and me. We're just best friends who are reunited." Elisa said, crossing her arms and leaning against the dresser.
Krystal raises her eyebrows, clearly not believing her. "Right. You two aren't anything more than that. Sure, Elisa."
Elisa playfully rolls her eyes, but a smile tugs on her lips. She and Krystal shared a laugh as they both sit on her bed. They spend the next few hours catching up with each other. They didn't realize that they were talking for so long, but Elisa didn't mind. She missed her cousin so much.
When it was getting late, there was a sudden knock at the door to their dorm. Krystal stood up, walking over to the door and opening it. Elisa watches, seeing a confused look formed on her face. She then sees her cousin's lips curl into a grin. "Ben!"
"Hey, Krys. I was wondering if I could talk to Elisa." Elisa heard Ben's voice and her heart raced at hearing his voice, her eyes widening as well. What did Ben want?
"Of course. She's not busy." Krystal grinned, walking over to grab Elisa, pulling her off the bed.
Elisa's eyes widen more, shaking her head and trying to mouth to Krystal she didn't want to talk to Ben now. But Krystal didn't listen and pulled her over to stand at the door. Ben stood there, his face softening and his smile widening at seeing Elisa. "Hey, Ellie."
Hearing him call her 'Ellie' made her heart race even more. This boy was going to kill her one day. She forgot how much she missed hearing that nickname only he used. She didn't say anything at first, taking in Ben's appearance. He was still the same, but he grew a bit taller and his blonde hair was a bit longer. His green eyes still held kindness and care for her. His smile was the same and his voice was still the same. Her face softened and she couldn't help the smile on her face.
"Hey, Ben." She finally speaks, her heart racing. "Um, what's up?"
"Can we talk privately?" Ben questioned hopefully.
Elisa opens her mouth, about to say something when she hears Krystal. "Don't worry, Elisa, I'll leave you two alone. I'll come back later after I sneak in a late night snack. Don't tell anyone." Krystal said, grinning.
She watched as her cousin walked away before turning her attention to Ben. "Okay, come on in." She steps aside, letting Ben in.
Ben smiles and walks into the room. Elisa closes the door, her back against the door. Her heart was pounding. She was alone with Ben. She wasn't sure what was going on or what to expect. She had so many questions, but she wasn't sure if she should ask them. She takes a deep breath, deciding to break the silence between them.
"I missed you, Ben." She confesses. "I really missed you."
Ben's face softens. "I missed you too, Ellie. I'm so glad you're here." He walked over to her, pulling her in a hug.
Elisa smiles, hugging him back and closing her eyes. She relaxed in his comforting touch. His hugs were the best. He always gave the best hugs and comforted her whenever she needed it. He always made her feel safe and comforted.
"It's good to have you back, Elisa." He mumbled, tightening his arms around her.
"It's good to be back, Ben." She murmured, her lips curving upwards into a small smile.
"I'm sorry about what happened. I'm so sorry. I didn't even know it was happening until it was too late." Ben's voice was filled with sadness, guilt, and pain.
She frowns. She didn't blame him for what had happened. It wasn't his fault. She pulls away, her eyes locking with his. "Ben, don't apologize. It's not your fault. You didn't know." She assured him.
"I still feel really bad about it. You didn't deserve that. You were sent to the Isle for something you couldn't control. I just…I wish I had done more." He sighed, running a hand through his blonde hair.
"It's not your fault. Stop beating yourself up." She tells him, gently squeezing his arm. "What's done is done. There's nothing we can do about it now."
Ben nods. "I know, I just wish I could have changed it. I really, really missed you. I know I'm saying that a lot, but it's the truth."
"I missed you, Ben." She admitted with a small chuckle.
"Well, I probably should go. It's getting late. I'll see you tomorrow, Eli. Goodnight." Ben spoke after a few moments of silence, giving her one last smile before he turns and heads towards the door.
"Ben." Elisa called out, grabbing his hand. He turns to look at her.
"Yeah?"
"Can we meet in the gazebo tomorrow night at the Enchanted Lake? We can catch up on stuff we missed. Maybe go swimming too."
"Of course. I would love to." Ben smiles, squeezing her hand. "What time? Same time as always?"
"Yeah." She replied, her smile widening.
"Alright, see you then, Ellie." He squeezed her hand one more time before he left.
Elisa watched as he walked away, a smile forming on her lips and her heart fluttering. She couldn't wait to hang out with him tomorrow.
❄❄❄❄
Before Krystal came back, Mal and the others had came over to Elisa, telling her they were planning on trying to get the wand tonight. And that's why now she was following her friends to the museum. She felt bad about this. She didn't want to steal the wand. It wasn't the right thing to do. But she knew she had to do it. She didn't want the villains to be upset with her and her friends.
Elisa had left a note for Krystal, explaining she was hanging out with Mal and Evie before bed. She was now going up the stairs of The Museum of Cultural History with her friends.
"Check your mirror." Mal said to Evie.
"Is my mascara smudge?" Evie worriedly asked, pulling out her magic mirror from her purse.
"Yeah, and hey, while you're at it, why don't you see if you can find us the wand." Mal suggested.
"Sure. This way." Evie spoke after a few moments, walking to the left and her friends followed.
Elisa and her friends make it to the front doors where inside was the spinning wheel that made Princess Aurora go into a deep sleep. Inside the building there were security screens set up of important items such as Genie's lamp, Adam's rose, Cinderella's glass slipper, etc. A guard kept watching the screens nonstop.
When the guard turned around completely, the five friends quickly moved out of the way so they wouldn't get caught. After knowing they were safe, they stand back in front of the door.
"That's your mother's spinning wheel?" Jay laughed.
Carlos laughs along with him. "Yeah, it's kind of dorky."
"It's magic. It doesn't have to look scary." Mal argues, glancing at the boys with a glare. She opens her spell book, searching for a spell. "'Magic spindle do not linger. Make my victim prick a finger'." Everyone waited for something to happen, but nothing did.
"Impressive." Jay said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
"I got chills." Carlos added, laughing with Jay.
"Okay, you know what…" Mal's voice trails off as she glances at her spell book for a different spell. "'Prick the finger, prick it deep. Send my enemy off to sleep.'"
This time something happened. The security guard stood, walking over to the spinning wheel and pricking his finger. Then he yawned loudly, sitting on the platform the spinning wheel is on before laying down to sleep.
Mal smirks. "Not so dorky now, huh?" She reached out to open the door, her smirk falling when the door wouldn't open. It was locked.
A smug look forms on Jay's face suddenly. "Stand back."
As he stepped back, Mal read off another spell. "'Make it easy, make it quick, open up without a kick.'"
The doors open just before Jay ran at the door to kick it open. Elisa laughed softly with Mal and Evie as Jay fell on the floor. Evie and Mal walk past him, followed by Elisa, but she glanced back at Jay with a concerned look. Carlos stayed back to help Jay up, but Jay pushed him away as he stood.
"Jay, are you okay?" Elisa asked him with concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Jay mumbled, brushing off his clothes and ignoring the look Elisa was giving him. Elisa rolled her eyes, patting Carlos on his shoulder after seeing the upset look he had.
"Just trying to help." Carlos muttered, but he glanced at Elisa with a small smile when she patted his shoulder.
They walk around the sleeping guard, Carlos pausing and gasped when the security guard moved to roll over. Elisa jumped a little when the security guard moved, not expecting him to move and she had been a bit worried he would wake up. Thankfully, he didn't though. She shared a relieved look with Carlos before their attention is drawn to Evie when she called out to them.
"Carlos, Elisa!"
"Coming!" Carlos replied, nervously walking around the sleeping security guard. Elisa chuckled lightly at seeing that and she gave his shoulder a comforting pat when he stood close to her.
"Let's go, Carlos."
They meet up with their friends and they continue to find the room where the wand was kept. They pause though when they find a room that had statues of the four VKs parents. Elisa sent a sympathetic look to her friends after seeing the looks on their faces.
"Well, the wand's not here." Jay speaks up, gaining everyone's attention. "Let's bounce." When no one said anything to him, he speaks again, gesturing for everyone to follow him. "Let's go!" This time Elisa turned to leave along with Jay, Carlos and Evie following her.
Jay, Carlos, and Evie were ahead of her when Elisa had stopped after hearing someone call out to her. She turned behind her, surprised to find her cousin, Krystal, standing in the hallway with a shocked and hurt look on her face. The red head stood there with her arms crossed.
"Oh, hey, Krystal." Elisa greets, smiling sheepishly at her. "I didn't know you would be here."
Krystal furrows her eyebrows at the blonde. "Why are you here? What are you and your friends doing here this late?"
"Well, uh…" Elisa trails off, not knowing what to say. She didn't want to lie to her cousin, but she didn't want her to know the truth either. "What are you doing here?" She asked, sounding a bit defensive and avoiding her question.
Krystal raises her eyebrows, a frown forming on her face. She had a sad and disappointed look in her blue eyes. "I was allowed to be here to work on a project. Now answer my question. Why are you and your friends here, Lisa? Is this why you weren't in our dorm earlier?"
"Yes." Elisa confesses, her face falling. "I'm so sorry, Krys. I really am. But I have to do this, please don't tell anyone. I promise I'll explain everything later." She pleaded, but her heart broke at seeing the hurt look on her cousin's face.
Krystal shakes her head, biting her lip. "Lisa, this isn't you. This isn't the Elisa I grew up with. You're a good person. You're not a villain."
"That was before I was sent to the Isle for something I couldn't control." Elisa snaps, tears welling in her eyes. She takes a deep breath, wiping her eyes before the tears could fall. "Look, Krystal, I'm sorry, I really am. Just please don't tell anyone."
"I can't believe you're actually going through with this!" Krystal scoffs, shaking her head. "I thought you were better than this, but maybe the Isle brought out who you really are. Maybe I didn't know the real you."
Elisa winces at her cousin's words, but she kept herself together. She shook her head, clenching her hands into fists. "Maybe you didn't. Maybe I don't know the real me either and I'm just finding myself." She admits, tears stinging her eyes again. She had to admit, she was scared of what was happening to her because of her time being on the Isle. She was wondering if maybe her time on the Isle changed her or maybe being on the Isle brought out her true self. But she didn't want to admit it. She didn't want to say anything about it because she was scared. She was scared that maybe her true self was bad. That maybe she was evil. "But that doesn't change the fact that I'm not doing this for me. I'm doing this for them." She points towards where the others are. "I'm doing this because I owe it to them. You have no idea what their parents would do to us if we didn't do this."
"Lisa, I-"
"Hey, Elisa, are you coming?" Mal called out.
"Yeah, on my way!" Elisa shouted, keeping her eyes locked with Krystal as she began to back away. "Please just don't say anything." She pleaded.
Krystal's lips were pressed into a firm line and her eyes were watering, but she nods. "I won't, I promise."
"Thanks."
Elisa didn't say anything else, she turns and walks away to catch up with her friends. Her heart was racing and she had tears in her eyes, but she ignored it. She had a mission.
The room where the wand is kept overlooked the floor below. There was a railing in a circle protecting the wand that was kept in the blue force field. In the center of the force field was the wand.
"There it is!" Evie smiled.
"Whoo!" Jay cheered, running over to the gate in the room that led to the floor below. Laughter filled the room as Carlos and the girls followed him downstairs.
On the lower floor, there was a railing surrounding the force field and a podium that had information about the wand by it. Elisa will always be amazed by the wand. It was beautiful and magical. She was brought out of her thoughts when Mal called to Jay.
"Jay, don't!"
Elisa's eyes widen slightly, surprised to see Jay had tried to duck under the railing to get to the wand. Jay pauses at Mal's warning, but he just smirks and continues to duck under the railing. "Wait, no! No! Don't!" Mal said worriedly as Jay reached out to grab the wand. Jay screamed when he was sent flying back over the railing, a loud alarm followed after. "Oh no!" Elisa grimaces, covering her ears along with her friends. "We have to go now!" She went over to where Jay was on the ground, helping him up despite his protests.
"A force field and a siren?" Carlos complained.
"That's just a little excessive." Jay remarked.
"Well," Elisa speaks up. "To be fair, they want to protect the wand."
"Let's go!" Mal suggested, turning to leave with Carlos and Evie. Elisa and Jay were quick to follow. They thankfully got out of the room before the security guard got there. But as they got to the lobby, a phone was ringing. Carlos stopped, answering the phone and pretending to be a security guard. Elisa was impressed when he got the alarm to turn off and managed to convince the person on the other line it was a false alarm.
"Great job!" Elisa commented, sharing a smile with him and fist bumping him as they followed their friends outside.
"Way to go, Jay." Mal speaks, her voice laced with annoyance. "Now we have to go to school tomorrow!"

CHAPTER TWO (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
Living on the Isle was for sure a big change for Elisa. The Isle of the Lost was completely different than Auradon. While in Auradon it was all smiley and colorful, on the Isle of the Lost it was dreary and dull. Everything was gray, gloomy, and just plain dark. She didn't think she would ever get used to it. The place was like a prison, almost. Everyone was trapped in here. They didn't have any hope to escape this place, especially Elisa.
It was hard to get used to living on the Isle. Everyone knew who she was, or at least knew her name, and everyone also had the same thought: "What is the daughter of Elsa and Jack Frost doing here?" or "What is she doing here with us? She doesn't belong here. She should be living with the royals in Auradon."
Of course, there was some that were happy to have a new addition to the Isle and who took her in under their wing. She became fast friends with Carlos De Vil, Evie Queen, Mal daughter of Maleficent and Jay son of Jafar. They welcomed her into their little group and Elisa was happy that she had friends that were willing to look after her, especially since her powers weren't working.
Honestly, she felt relieved her powers didn't work here. On the Isle magic didn't work. But on the Isle she was able to just be herself and not worry about losing control of her powers and hurting someone. It was like a weight was off her shoulders. Sure, her life was completely different now, but at least she wasn't afraid to lose control anymore and she was able to be herself. Her life on the Isle was completely different than her life in Auradon, but she honestly warmed up to the fact she's living on the Isle. She was surprised to admit she didn't mind staying there and was happy that she had her four best friends by her side.
 ❄❄❄❄
"Stealing candy from a baby Mal? I'm so disappointed." Maleficent said, clearly in fake disappointment.
"It was from a baby." Mal grinned.
Maleficent smirks. "That's my nasty little girl."
She takes the lollipop from Mal, putting it in her armpit for a few seconds before she handed it to one of her goons. "Give it back to the dreadful creature."
"Mom." Mal whined.
"It's the deeds, Mal, that was the difference between mean and truly evil." Maleficent explained, saying the last part in a sing-song voice while she waved at the child's mother.
"When I was your age, I was-" Maleficent started.
"Cursing entire kingdoms." Mal and Maleficent both said, but Mal had more of an annoyed look on her face.
"You! Walk with me." Maleficent pointed at Mal. Maleficent threw an arm around Mal's shoulder and guided her a few feet away from where her friends stood.
"So, you think by the look of her face, is it good news or bad news?" Elisa asked as she looked at her friends.
"It looks complicated." Carlos mumbled as he and the others tried to listen in on what Maleficent was talking with Mal about, but they didn't get much luck.
"Oh! I got news!" Maleficent shouted suddenly turning around to face the others.
"Bury the lead." She instructed her goons and they went to stand behind Elisa, Evie, Carlos and Jay.
"You five have been chosen to go to a different school....in Auradon!" Maleficent dramatically said to them.
Evie, Carlos, and Jay started to run away, but the knuckleheads caught them. Elisa was frozen at hearing the name Auradon. She forgot all about Auradon...Well, she didn't exactly forget about all of it. She tried to forget it. She tried to forget how they didn't want her and didn't accept her. Auradon was suppose to be a place of accepting, well that was the opposite of what they did. She still wears the ring that Ben gave her all those months ago and the necklace that her family gave to her.
Soon she was packed and the five of them were heading towards the limo that was waiting outside. Carlos was the first to get in, then Jay, Evie, Mal, and then Elisa. Once the door was shut, Jay, Carlos, and Elisa started digging into the candy that was in the limo. Elisa forgot how good this stuff was.
"Guys, look!" Evie suddenly exclaimed while she points in front of her. The other four looks at what she was pointing at and their eyes widen.
"It's a trap!!" Carlos yelled.
They all huddled up together and screamed. Elisa was the only one acting like normal since she knew what this was. "It's just magic."
Once they were all calm, Carlos nodded as he glanced back out the window. "R-Right, yeah. Just magic no biggie."
The limo pulls up in front of the school they were welcome signs and posters everywhere and they even had the band playing as the limo drove up.
Looking over her shoulder whenever she heard arguing, she realized that Carlos and Jay were fighting over...A towel. Of all things they could fight over, they fought over a towel. Sometimes she wondered why she was friends with them. When the door was open, that resulted into the boys falling out and onto the ground.
"Why do you want it? You got everything else!" Carlos shouted as he tried getting it out of Jay's grasp.
"Because you want it!" Jay yelled back at him, tugging back on the towel.
Evie flips her hair over her shoulder as she gracefully stepped out of the car. She walks over the two boys as Mal and Elisa followed her. Elisa looks around the place, thinking it looked the exact same. She furrows her eyebrows at seeing the marching band, thinking that they went a little over the top for their arrival. She glances back at Mal when she speaks.
"Guys," Mal hisses. "We have an audience."
Jay and Carlos look up and then quickly stood up as the Fairy Godmother walked forward, standing in front of the five. "Leave it like you found it," She said in a sing-song voice with a smile. "And by that I mean just leave it."
Jay and Carlos threw the towel and other stuff they had somehow gotten back into the limo then turned to face the front.
"I'm Auradon's headmistress, Fairy Godmother." She introduced herself with a kind smile on her face.
"The Fairy Godmother?" Mal questions, suddenly intrigued. "As in Bipppity-Boppity-Boo?"
"Bippity-Boppity you know it." Fairy Godmother said as she looked over at Elisa and smiles. "It's wonderful to see you again, dear."
Elisa just nods, pursing her lips in a tight line. She's surprised Fairy Godmother talked to her, but decided not to say anything. Mal forces a smile. "You know, I always wondered what it felt like for Cinderella when you just appeared out of nowhere. With that sparkly wand, and warm smile, and sparkly wand."
Elisa couldn't help but role her eyes. 'Smooth Mal. Like that wasn't obvious at all.' She sarcastically thought.
Fairy Godmother just smiles. "Awe, well that was in the past. And as I always say, 'Don't focus on the past, or you'll miss the future.'" She told them while making hand motions.
Ben smiles at them, his gaze lingering on Elisa a bit longer than normal. His smile widen at noticing the ring that he gave her all those months ago was still on her finger then he quickly looked away before Elisa saw him looking.  He looks at each of them with a smile. "Hello everybody. My name is Ben-"
"Prince Benjamin, soon to be king!" Audrey interrupted.
Elisa definitely did not miss her one bit. She watches Evie step forward and she smiles a bit. "You had me at 'prince'. My mom's a queen which makes me a princess." Evie smiled while doing a curtsy.
"The evil queen has no royal status here, and neither do you." Audrey snarked.
Elisa sent a glare her way, feeling her powers strengthen inside her. She wanted to make Audrey an icicle so bad right now.
Ben chuckles nervously. "And this is Audrey-"
"His girlfriend!" Audrey interrupted.
Elisa felt her heart start to shatter into pieces. Why was she surprised? She didn't expect Ben to wait for her for who knows how many years and he probably doesn't even like her. Well, he definitely doesn't like her now that he is with Audrey. Why Audrey of all people? Doesn't he remember that she was one of the reasons she was sent to the Isle?
Audrey smiles at Ben, grabbing a hold of his hand as Fairy Godmother placed her hands on the couples hands.
"Ben and Audrey are going to show you all around," She stated and with that she left leaving Ben, Audrey and the other five standing there. Ben then walked up to them and started shaking each of their hands.
"It is so, so great to finally meet you." Ben told them.
Jay punched him in the shoulder whenever he went to shake his hand. He went on to shake Mal's hand, but she gent him a glare and refused so he moved on to Carlos. After shaking Carlos' hand he moved on to Elisa.
Once they grabbed onto each others hands, it was like time has stopped. It was as if they were the only ones standing there. It was obvious that they were staring at each other longer than normal. Elisa quickly realized this and pulled her hand away. Ben nervously smiled at her before he stepped back beside Audrey and Fairy Godmother.
"This is a momentous occasion. One that I hope will go down in history. As the day that our two peoples begin to heal." Ben smiled.
"Or this could be the day where you show five people the bathrooms are at." Elisa remarked sarcastically even though she knew this place like the back of her hand.
"A little bit over the top?" Ben asked, a smile on his face.
Elisa nods and she replies with, "Oh, yeah. It was way more than a little bit."
"So, much for my first impression then." Ben sighed and the two shared a laugh.
"Oh, wait a minute, you're Elisa! Yeah, I remember you, you're the one that almost froze Auradon!" Audrey said to Elisa with a fake smile on her face.
Elisa balled her hands into fists until she felt a comforting hand on her shoulder. She looked over she saw it was Evie who sent her a small smile which calmed her down enough to take a deep breath.
"Yeah, well, the past is in the past." She said, sending a fake smile back at Audrey.
Audrey let out a small fake laugh before she looks over at Mal. "Oh. Hey, you're Maleficent's daughter aren't you? Yeah, I totally don't blame you for your mother trying to kill my mother and stuff."
Mal looks at her with a bored expression. "My mothers Aurora, Sleeping-" Audrey continued, but Mal interrupted her.
"Beauty. Yeah, I heard the name."
"And I totally do not blame you for your grandparents inviting everyone in the whole world to their stupid christening." Mal sarcastically added.
"Water under the bridge?" Audrey asked.
Mal forces a smile. "Totes." They both shared an incredibly fake laugh that made Elisa cringe.
"Okay then, how about a tour yeah?" Ben quickly suggested before things got worse.
The five of them followed Ben and Audrey to the statue of King Adam that was in the middle of the area when suddenly a boy ran over to them, stopping when he was out of breath.
Ben looks over at him and chuckles. "Hey, Parker. What happened?"
Parker stands up and laughs a bit. "Well, I may or may not have got a bucket of flour and hooked it over the door so when Ryder walked into the room he would get covered in it." He explains, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. He glances behind him to make sure Ryder wasn't behind him. "But I forgot Ryder kinda has a bit of a temper when people pulled pranks on him." He looks back at the others with a nervous smile. "Now he's chasing me with a frying pan and I really don't wanna get hit with one of those. I heard they hurt."
"Why is he chasing you with a frying pan?" Mal asked, raising her eyebrows at him.
Parker looks over at her with surprise, not realizing that there were new people there until thee then. He then shrugs his shoulders. "He's the son of Rapunzel and Eugene." He replied bluntly.
"Oh, um, Parker, you remember my proclamation about bringing the VKs over and give them a chance at a normal life." Ben told him.
Parker smiles friendly at the group, his face lighting up when he saw Elisa. "Lisa! So glad you're back!"
A small smile tugs on Elisa's lips, happy that Parker remembered her. "Yeah, I'm back."
"Parker is the son of Peter Pan." Audrey spoke up with a smile on her lips.
"The one that can fly and has pixie dust?" Mal questioned.
Parker nods. "Only the fairies have pixie dust, but yes."
"Parker, come back here!"
The eight of them looks over to see a blonde haired boy running towards them, who was covered in flour.
"Wow, you really went all out. I like it." Mal commented with a smirk on her face and Parker smiled proudly.
The boy finally caught up to the group, glaring at Parker. He angrily points at Parker and then gestures to himself. "You did this!"
Shaking his head, Parker smiles innocently. "I did no such thing."
"Boys, we have guests." Audrey said in a sing-song voice trying to get them to calm down and act polite. "Behave."
The blonde haired boy looks over at the five realizing they were there and a embarrassed expression formed on his face. "Sorry." Ryder apologetically smiles at them. "Um, I'm Ryder, son of Rapunzel and Eugene. It's nice to meet you guys." He introduces himself and then glares at Parker. "And I really wish we would've met on better circumstances."
"Well," Audrey glares at him and Phoenix. "We were kind of in the middle of a tour here before you boys ruined it."
Ryder rolls his eyes. "Right, sorry, your highness." He sarcastically said, dramatically bowing. He smirked a bit when Audrey gasped and then sent him glare. He grabbed Parker's arm and started dragging him back to the dorms.
"Maybe we will see you guys later!" Parker waved at the five new students as he left with Ryder.
Once they were out of sight Ben turned to face the five of them with an apologetic look. "I'm sorry about that interruption. They usually aren't like that." Ben sheepishly smiles. "Sometimes they don't see eye to eye which is probably bad that they are roommates, but I'm sure you guys will grow to love them."
Elisa elbowed Mal at the last part, seeing the look she had on her face when Phoenix around. She had a feeling that Mal was starting to like Phoenix. Mal glared at her and stepped away. They continued on with the tour and soon went inside of the building that the dorms were in.
"Doug! Come over here!" Ben called over, noticing his friend was walking down the stairs.
Doug walks over to them and nervously looked at the VKs as Ben starts to talk. "This is Doug. He will be showing you your class schedules and show you the rest of the dorms. I'll see you later, okay? And if there is anything you need, feel free to-"
"Ask Doug." Audrey smiled before walking away and dragged Ben with her.
Doug smiles at the VKs. "Hi, guys. I'm Doug, Dopey's son. As in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy and..." He started to list off the seven dwarfs, but he forgot the last one when he saw Evie.
Evie steps forward, smiling at Doug. "Evie. Evil Queen's Daughter."
Doug nods, his lips curling upwards a bit. "Okay. So about your classes I, uh, put in the requirements already. History of Woodsmen and Pirates, Safety Rules for the Internet," He glances over his shoulder realizing that Mal had walked over to them and was looking at the schedules he had. "And, uh, Remedial Goodness 101."
"That's a new one." Elisa mumbled.
Mal rolls her eyes. "Doesn't surprise me." She looks over at her friends. "Come on, guys, let's go find our dorms."
Elisa walks one way while her friends walks the other way. She was pretty sure she remembered where the dorms were at and she knew that they weren't going the right way so she didn't bother following them.
"Oh, uh, yeah, you're dorms are that way, guys." Doug spoke, pointing in the direction Elisa was at.
She stopped at the bottom of the stairs, looking over at her friends with a smirk, who were looking at with confusion. They looked at Elisa and then quickly walked down the stairs to go to the stairs she was on.
Doug then tries to list the seven dwarfs again. "Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and..."
"Sneezy." Carlos finished Doug's list as he walked past him.

CHAPTER ONE (of frozen heart)
Tumblr media
It was just another day in Auradon. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping.
Elisa is standing at her locker in the hallway, minding her own business whenever she heard the familiar sound of Audrey's and Chad's laughter behind her. She tensed up at hearing them, hating how rude they always were to her for absolutely no reason. In times like that, it was hard for her to control her powers. Some say her powers are a gift, she believes they are a curse.
Belle and Adam have even told her that it was probably best for her to wear her gloves at times knowing she hasn't controlled her powers yet. She wears them every now and then, but she hates wearing them. She feels like she is locked in this cage.
But it has been difficult lately because well, she is technically half Spirit and half-human, so that means people have to believe in her to see her. It had its perks, but it can also be a bad thing at times. Like how sometimes she wishes some people couldn't see her.
"Oh, look who it is. Why, it's the ice princess in all of her cold glory." Audrey sneered, her voice now closer to Elisa.
Elisa didn't even realize the two teenagers were standing behind her until she turned around to face them when Chad tapped her on the shoulder. "We're talking about you, frosty."
She was honestly surprised that they believed in her. Because if they didn't then they wouldn't be making fun of her right now and she honestly believes that they only believe in her so they can tease and get on her nerves for the fun of it. Elisa balled her hands up into a fist, feeling the coldness of her powers form stronger in her body. She took a deep breath to try and calm them down.
Audrey laughs. "It's funny you think you can stop becoming who you really are. A monster. Just like your whole family."
Elisa glares at her as Audrey continues. "Oh! Remember when your mother froze her kingdom for no good reason? Talk about not being a good Queen."
Elisa opened her eyes, her bright blue eyes an icier blue than before. Knowing they were a different color, she took a deep breath and they returned to their normal blue color.
"Don't you dare talk about my family like that. And don't you dare talk about me like you know who I am. You don't get to talk about me and my family like that." Elisa glared at them, stepping closer to the two teenagers. Audrey took a step back, dragging Chad with her. Elisa had to refrain herself from rolling her eyes.
"My mother couldn't control her powers, she didn't know how to stop it…It wasn't her fault." She stood up for her family, trying her best to keep ahold of her own powers.
Chad rolls his eyes and crosses his arms over his chest. "We can talk about you however we like. You are not the boss of us. If anything, we're the boss of you." He sneered, sending a harsh look towards her way.
She glanced down at her hands, noticing the familiar ray of her powers forming at her fingertips and her heartbeat quicken. Her blue eyes frantically looked around the hallway seeing if anyone was watching this. Most of the kids at the school and people in Auradon believe in her but some still don't. She just sometimes forgets that and always get so nervous and worried if something like this happens.
Audrey gasped, making Elisa realize what was happening. She looked forward to see Audrey taking a couple of steps back from her, grabbing a hold of Chad's arm. She took him with her as she pointed at Elisa's frightened figure.
"See? You're a monster! You're losing control of your powers. You're gonna freeze Auradon before we all know it!" Audrey exclaimed quite loudly causing some heads of the students that were nearby to turn their way.
Ben, who was nearby talking to some students, happened to hear Audrey's loud voice and started walking towards that direction. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion seeing that a small crowd had formed by the lockers. Walking closer, he pushed his way through the crowd, muttering an apology for being rude. He didn't stop until he was standing in front of the crowd, eyes wide at what he was seeing.
Once he and Elisa locked eyes, he noticed the scared look in her now icy blue colored eyes that made his heartache in pain for her. He hated seeing her scared or worried or in pain. He knew it was hard for her to control her powers and that she hated being in the center of attention like this.
"El-" He started, but Elisa ran past him, past the crowd and out of the hallway.
"Elisa!" He called after her. His lips curved downwards in a frown, watching as she ran off. He went to go after her, but felt a tug on his arm and stopped moving.
He looks over to see Audrey, who flashed a sweet smile at him. "Oh, don't worry about her, BennyBoo, she just needs some time to…Cool off."
While Ben was distracted, Chad went to King Adam's office. He knocked on the door, waiting for a few moments before he heard King Adam say, "Come in." He opened the door and walked in, seeing that King Adam was sitting at his desk doing some paperwork. Adam looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Chad," He said, refraining himself from sighing. "What can I do for you?"
"Something had happened with Elisa," Chad started, pretending to look around the room worriedly before he looked back at the King of Auradon.
"What happened, Chad?" Adam asks him, slightly annoyed that he was bothering him while he was working. "You know I'm very busy."
"King Adam, I hate to tell you this, but Elisa has lost control of her powers. Her eyes changed color to an icy blue and something almost frost-like formed at her fingertips. She ran after that and there was even a trail of frost beneath her!" Chad waved his arms around dramatically making Adam start to think that he was making this all up.
"We need to do something with her before things get worse. Who knows what will happen if we let her roam around Auradon like this. She could freeze Auradon with just a snap of her fingers!" Chad exclaimed, snapping his fingers.
Chad's lips curves upwards when it looked like Adam was thinking this through and he was happy that the plan looked like it was working. He forms his lips into a tight line whenever Adam looked at him. "So, what will you do with her?" He questioned, tilting his head to the side.
Adam sighs, a frown forming on his lips as he ran a hand through his brown colored hair. "I'm afraid there is nothing else to do but send her to the Isle where we know that this Kingdom and others will be protected. There is no magic on the Isle so it will even be better for her as well."
Chad frowns, pretending to be sad. "Oh well, that's too bad. But that is true, it's what's for the best."
Adam node and stands straighter. "Yes, that's right. Well, I have to make some calls. Again, thank you." Adam patted Chad on the shoulder before walking out of his office.
A smirk tugs on Chad's lips and he crosses his arms. "Oh no. Thank you."
❄❄❄❄
"What?! Why is this happening? What did I do wrong?!"
"Believe us when we say that we don't want you to be living in that awful place either. But it's for the best. We're trying to protect you-"
"You're just trying to protect yourselves! That's all you've ever done!" Elisa yelled, sending a harsh glare to the couple.
Adam and Belle sighs, knowing partially that was the truth. Belle steps forward, placing a comforting hand on her arm. "We are deeply sorry about doing this. You know that we care about you."
Elisa scoffs, tearing her arm away from Belle's grasp. "As I said before, you only care about yourselves."
Elisa presses her lips together in a tight line, trying her best not to cry as she tries to blink away the tears brimming her eyes. "W-What about my parents? My aunt and uncle? How are you sure that they will let you go through with this?" She stuttered, now feeling more worried about being sent to the Isle of the Lost that is full of villains, somewhere she doesn't belong. Or at least that's what her family told her. But apparently she doesn't belong there in Auradon so maybe she doesn't belong anywhere.
"What about my brother? He won't be so happy with you guys knowing you sent his only sister away to the Isle. My cousin won't be happy at all either. And you're son definitely won't be happy with this decision either." Elisa pointed out. Sometimes she wished that it was her brother who had powers so she wouldn't have to deal with this. She thought it was ironic that Jax didn't inherit any powers but she did. Belle and Adam shared a look with each other.
"Actually, we invited your family over to say goodbye. We thought it was the least we could do. And technically even if they tried to overrule this, they don't have that kind of power here, that would be only in Arrendelle." Adam explained.
Elisa started to tear up and she felt herself begin to shake at the thought of living with villains. She was definitely going to die there without having her powers to protect her. Sure, she learned some defense moves from her family, but she didn't know if they could protect her from nasty and evil villains.
Turning around, she noticed her parents, her brother, and her aunt and uncle were getting out of the limo. Her brother has been graduated from Auradon Prep for a few months now and has been living in Arrendelle and helping out with the kingdom. She sometimes wished that he was her age so she could have family there with her and maybe things would be better.
Jack, her father, was the first to get to her and wrapped his arms around her, lifting her off the ground some as he hugged her tightly. She didn't hesitate to wrap her arms back, burying her face into her father's neck while hugging onto him tighter.
"I'm so sorry, Snowflake." He whispered to her, wishing that there was something he could do. He felt helpless at the moment and he hated feeling helpless. He was a Guardian for crying out loud and he couldn't even protect his own daughter.
"Hey, we're on a time limit, Jack, and I would like to hug my niece." Anna told him, crossing her arms over her chest.
Jack rolls his eyes as he chuckled. "Alright, alright. Calm down, don't hit me with a guitar." He jokes. He sat his daughter back on the ground and let go of her. Anna punches his arm, obviously offended by his joke and he just laughs. "What?" He looked at her as she rolled her eyes at him.
Elisa then moves to her mother, who already had tears in her eyes. "Lisa, I want you to know that we're so proud of you-" Elsa started. The other three adults of her family nodded in agreement.
"Oh, yeah, so proud." Jack interrupts and Elsa shot him an annoyed look. Jack looks at her with confusion. "What? I'm agreeing with you."
Elsa just shakes her head and turns back to her daughter, taking Elisa's hands into her own. "Just remember that we love you and we will never forget you. We will try to write to you as much as we can and fill you in on everything that's happening at home."
She squeezes Elisa's hands while Elisa sadly smiled as she nods. "Okay. I love you guys, too."
Elsa let go of her hands to get something out of her pocket and then showed it to Elisa, revealing a beautiful snowflake necklace that looked like it was made out of ice.
"I made that, in case you were wondering." Jack spoke up with a proud smile on his face.
Elsa nods, chuckling a bit at how proud he was of himself. Smiling a bit, she turns to face her daughter. "That's true. This is made out of solid ice, one that will never break even if you try. This is something to remember us by. If you're ever missing home, look at this and think of us." Elisa smiled at her parents, thinking it was so sweet her family did something like this.
"May I put it on her?" A voice asked from behind her. Elisa turned around to see Ben standing there. She felt like her heart stopped at the sight of him. This would be her last time seeing her best friend, the guy that she secretly loved that she would never get to tell. She couldn't possibly tell him now in this situation.
Elsa smiles and nods. "Be my guest."
Ben smiles a bit and looked over at Elisa after he delicately took the snowflake necklace from Elsa. He nodded towards her and it was as if she knew what he meant because she then lifted her hair up. He stood behind her and raised the necklace, the snowflake glittering when the sunlight bounced off of it. He hooked it together to keep it in place once it around her neck, his fingers gently grazing her neck which sent a shiver down her spine.
Letting her hair back down, she turned around to face him. Elisa glances down at her necklace, smiling at it. "It looks beautiful." She looks up at him as Ben said that, their eyes locking and it felt as if they were the only people there.
"You look beautiful." Ben complimented, his face turning a bright pink color just like what Elisa's face does at hearing the compliment.
"Thank you, Ben. For everything." She said softly, a smile tugging on her lips.
Ben smiles shyly and nods. "You're welcome."
"Okay," Jax coughs loudly so the attention was brought to him. He points at Elisa, looking at her with a playful yet stern expression. "You better come hug me right now or I'm pulling you away from him." Walking over to him, Elisa chuckled, and her lips curved upwards while they hugged each other.
"Try to stay alive over there, yeah? I would like to hear from you every now and then." Jax said to her.
Elisa chuckles and smiles. "Yeah, okay."
"Okay, I hate to ruin this beautiful moment, but I wanna hug my niece. I waited a long time to hug her. I don't wanna wait anymore." Anna spoke up and made grabby hands towards Elisa.
"You only waited a few minutes." Jax pointed out as he and Elisa pulled away from the hug.
Anna shrugs. "So? I still wanna hug her." Elisa giggled while walking over to her aunt and uncle. Anna is the first one to hug her, bringing her into a bear hug.
"Remember, you're going to a place that is filled with evil villains that will always try to make you forget who you are. Never forget who you truly are, Lisa. You are a strong, brave, beautiful and talented young woman." Anna told her as they pulled apart from the hug. Elisa smiled at her and nodded, moving over to her uncle.
Kristoff smiles at her. "We're gonna miss you, kid. Things won't be the same without you." He told her and brought her into a tight hug.
Elisa hugs him back and smiles. "I'm gonna miss you guys too, so much."
Belle and Adam smiled sadly as they watched them saying their goodbyes. "I'm afraid that there is a time limit that we can have the barrier open. So, Elisa, it's time for you to leave." Adam spoke up. Elisa nodded, pulling away from Kristoff and started walking to the limo that was going to take her to the Isle.
"Wait! Elisa!" Ben called out to her, running over to her before she opened the door to the limo.
Stopping in her place, she turns around to look at one of her best friends, who stopped to stand in front of her. "I wanted to give you something. "
Elisa tilts her head to the side in confusion, getting more nervous by the second. She furrowed her eyebrows as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring. The ring is similar to the one he was wearing, but it had a beautiful snowflake on it.
Elisa gasps at the sight of it, memorized by how beautiful it is. "Ben, I…I can't take that."
Ben shakes his head, grabbing her hand. "I want you to. Just like with that necklace, if you miss me, look at this ring and remember me." He spoke softly, gently placing the ring on Elisa's right ring finger.
Elisa smiles softly as she looked down at it. Looking more closely at it, she realized that el + ben was engraved on the back of the ring and she felt her face grow hot.
"Do you…Do you like it? I had it made specifically for you." He admits nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I was going to give it to you on better circumstances, but now I felt like it would be better for you to have it now."
Elisa looks back at him with a smile, and gently squeezing his hand. "I love it, Ben."
And I love you. She also wanted to say but she bit her tongue before she said it and made a mistake. Ben smiled at her and pulled her into a hug. Elisa doesn't hesitate to hug him back.
"I'm gonna miss you." Ben whispered to her.
Elisa sighs, hugging onto him tighter since she didn't want to let go. "I'm gonna miss you too." She whispered back to him.
After a moment of them hugging onto each other, they finally pulled apart, sending sad smiles to each other.
"WAIT! Don't leave yet!" Elisa heard a familiar voice yell. "You can't leave without saying goodbye to me! I'll chase after you if I have to!"
Elisa looks over her shoulder, seeing her cousin, Krystal, run down the steps and over to her. "Excuse me," Krystal goes over to her cousin and Ben. "I wanna say goodbye to my cousin, Benjamin." She stated rather dramatically. Ben nodded, chuckling a bit as he stepped out of the way so they could have a moment.
"I'm sorry, Krystal-" Elisa apologized and was shocked whenever Krystal threw her arms around her, pulling her in for a hug.
"Don't apologize for nothing, Ellie. Makes you look kinda dumb." She commented. Elisa giggled a bit and hugged Krystal back.
"Stay out of trouble, okay, Krys?" Elisa said to her once they pulled apart from the hug and Krystal sent her a look.
"I should be the one saying that to you," Kyrstal shrugs. "But okay, I guess I'll try."
Elisa chuckles and shakes her head even though her lips curled upwards. "I'm gonna miss you and your craziness."
"Well, this is the first time in forever you said that to me." Krystal smiled sadly.
They hug each other one more time before Krystal went to stand by her parents as Ben opened the door for her, being the gentleman he always was.
Elisa sent him a sad smile, whispering a word of thanks before getting into the limo. Ben closed the door, a small frown on his face as he watched the limo start to pull away. He knew from then on things would never be the same without her.
From inside of the limo, Elisa moved over to the window, waving at her family who waved back until she was out of sight.
Sitting back in her seat as the limo drove onto the bridge once the barrier opened, she knew things were about to change for her. For good or for bad? She had no idea.
