My favorite pastime is getting obsessed with really old and obscure horror args, and making Spotify playlists for them confusing my followers, and personifying the few characters way more then they actually are

A Los Angeles Theatre Review: ‘Hungry Ghost'
A Los Angeles Theatre Review: ‘Hungry Ghost' at Skylight Theatre Company

I’m rewatching the first season of Severance and there’s a distinctly capital-A Actor anxiety and perspective on the type of surveillance used on the office workers. Like in the opening episode Milchik says “awh, and you two were my favourite office friendship” after the news is delivered that Petey left, Cobel seems to derive a lot of personal pleasure from placing Mark and Gemma in the same room and watching them interact without them knowing who one another are (far above and beyond the practical need to do this to ensure the chips in their heads work), Milchik constantly takes photos of them without their consent, etc. The structural animating metaphor that Severance plays with feels more like dolls in a playhouse than cogs in a machine - they even have a replica of Eagan’s house in the perpetuity wing, literally a life-sized dollhouse that the workers are allowed to roam around in but forbidden from touching anything. This is further emphasised when they show up to work every morning to “play different people,” people whose memories and feelings they don’t have access to and may as well not exist. So the context of the show is white colour office work, but the way the terror around this work gets articulated often feels like it’s coming from the perspective of someone who is constantly watched and documented in public as a result of them acting the part of fictional characters.
And like many people I remember being surprised that Ben Stiller of all people was so involved in the creation and production of this show, but like reflecting on it more it seems to make a lot of sense that a high-profile career actor had so much creative control over this lol

Top 10 Best Cartoon Theme Songs
Tumblr media
#10. Ben 10 Theme by Moxy (Ben 10): Kicking off our list is the theme for one of the most iconic 2000s cartoons. In addition to perfectly conveying the overall premise of the show, Ben 10's theme does an excellent job pumping up up for the exciting show ahead. With Moxy's hypnotic vocals, lively music, and snappy lyrics, this song feels as out of this world as Ben's aliens.
Tumblr media
#9. Danny Phantom Theme by Deric Battise: There's 2 things most people agree online about Danny Phantom: it's Butch Hartman's best show and it's got an awesome theme song. From the iconic opening base line to Deric Battise's informative and catchy rap, this song captures the ecstatic tone of the show while also providing just enough context to the backstory. Of all the songs made by Butch's frequent collaborator, Guy Moon, this is most certainly my favorite.
Tumblr media
#8. Atomic Betty Theme by Tajja Isen (Atomic Betty): Atomic Betty wouldn't be on any other best list I make because it's such a badly made show that doesn't do it's premise justice. The one thing it has going for it is its exhilarating theme song. It's upbeat, has clever lyrics, and Tajja Isen has excellent vocals. The theme song makes the show out to be such an action packed space adventure. I just wish the show was as good as the theme song.
Tumblr media
#7. Can We Fix It? by Neil Morrissey (Bob the Builder): Bob the Builder is such an optimistic and determined man that it only makes sense that his theme song be optimistic and determined. In addition to giving the main characters a proper introduction, the song also has a great message about working together and a can-do attitude. Neil Morrissey provides excellent vocals and you can hear the passion in his voice as he sings the chorus.
Tumblr media
#6. Little Einsteins Theme by Jesse Goldberg, Harrison Chad, Emma Straus, and Philip Trencher (Little Einsteins): Among Playhouse Disney's shows, Little Einsteins stood out by teaching kids about classical art and music. Speaking of the latter, the thene song captures the feeling of exploration and encouraging the audience to come along for the ride. With such a catchy chorus, engaging lyrics, and an orchestral soundtrack, this song gets me to sing along everytime I listen to it. And yes, I do make the revving sound with the kids and it always puts a smile on my face.
Tumblr media
#5. Iron Man: Armored Adventures Theme by Rooney (Iron Man: Armored Adventures): At the height of the first Iron Man film's popularity came the animated show by Method Animation. The show might not be as iconic as the movie, but the theme song is exactly Tony's style. It's got an amazing guitar riff, inspiring lyrics, and Rooney's frontman, Robert Schwartzman, goes hard on the chorus. I 100% buy that Tony would not only approve this song, but he'd be the one to commission it to promote his superhero persona.
Tumblr media
#4. We Are The Crystal Gems by Estelle, Michelle Dietz, Deedee Mango Hall, and Zach Callison (Steven Universe): It may be on the shorter side for cartoon theme songs, but every second of this song is nothing short of magical. From the ukulele being the main instrument, to the earnesty of the lyrics, this song exemplifies what this show is all about. Steven, the Gems, saving the day, and never giving up.
Tumblr media
#3. What's New, Scooby-Doo Theme by Simple Plan (What's New, Scooby-Doo?): This decades long running franchise has had a number of theme songs that fit their respective show. Yet my personal favorite of these has got to be What's New, Scooby-Doo's theme song. With a rockin' guitar riff, clever lyrics, and Simple Plan going hard all the way til the end, this song makes it clear that Scooby and the gang are back and ready for whatever comes next.
Tumblr media
#2. Call Me, Beep Me! by Christina Milian (Kim Possible): Nothing gets you more pumped for an epic spy show than with a remarkable and catchy theme song. With catchy lyrics, an excellent bass line, and Christina Milian's owning every verse, this song perfectly introduces Kim Possible and what makes her such a great heroine.
Tumblr media
#1. Through My Own Eyes by Aaron Carter and Kayla Hinke (Libery's Kid): When making this list, I knew there was but one song to take the top spot and that was Through My Own Eyes. Not only is this brilliantly sung with the late great Aaron Carter providing an excellent rap, but it also has powerful lyrics that convey hope for a better tomorrow. This song is especially relevant in today's society as we could definitely use some hope and remind ourselves what our founding fathers fought for.
Conclusion: These theme songs really excel at getting me excited for the cartoon. They have such great production values, catchy lyrics, and brilliant vocals, I give them a listen on YouTube all the time. Honorable mentions include Today Is Gonna Be A Great Day by Bowling For Soup (Phineas and Ferb), Rescue Rangers Theme by Jeff Pescetto (Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers), SpongeBob SquarePants Theme by Patrick Pinney, and CatDog Theme by Peter Hannan. And that's not even getting into the best anime themes, which will be on their own list. What are your favorite cartoon theme songs? Sound off in the comments and I'll see you next time ;)

The Scottish actor David McCallum was born on 19th September 1933.
Born as David Keith McCallum, Jr in Maryhill, Glasgow, the second of two sons of Dorothy Dorman, a cellist, and orchestral violinist David McCallum Sr. When he was three, his family moved to London for his father to play as concertmaster in the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Early in the Second World War, he was evacuated back to Scotland, where he lived with his mother at Gartocharn by Loch Lomond.
McCallum won a scholarship to University College School, a boys’ independent school in Hampstead, London, where, encouraged by his parents to prepare for a career in music, he played the oboe.In 1946 he began doing boy voices for the BBC radio repertory company. Also involved in local amateur drama, at age 17, he appeared as Oberon in an open-air production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Play and Pageant Union. He left school at age 18 and was conscripted, joining the 3rd Battalion the Middlesex Regiment, which was seconded to the Royal West African Frontier Force. In March 1954 he was promoted to Lieutenant. After leaving the army he attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (also in London), where Joan Collins was a classmate.
David McCallum’s acting career has spanned six decades; however, these days he is best known for his starring role on the police procedural NCIS as medical examiner as Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard. I first really remember McCallum for his role in another US show, The Invisible Man which ran for 13 episodes in the 70s. McCallum by then was a veteran of many TV and Film roles, starting in the 50’s including Our Mutual Friend and The Eustace Diamonds, in the 60’s he was in several ITV Playhouse shows before moving across the Atlantic to take roles in The Outer Limits and his big break as Illya Kuryakin in several incantations of The Man from Uncle.
His most notable films were The Greatest Story Ever Told as Judas Iscariot and of course Ashley-Pitt ‘Dispersal’ in The Great Escape.
As well as the aforementioned Invisible Man in the 70’s he took time to pop back over to our shores to star in two quality series, as Flt. Lt. Simon Carter in Colditz and Alan Breck Stewart in an adaption of Robert Louis Stevenson’s, Kidnapped.
The 80’s saw him team up with the lovely Joanna Lumley in Sapphire & Steel and several guest roles in the likes of The A Team, Hart to Hart and Murder, She Wrote as well as a one off reprise of Illya in the TV movie The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.: The Fifteen Years Later Affair.
The 90’s saw David in Cluedo and Trainer on our TV screens over here and American science-fiction series VR-5 in the states..
During the last 20 years or so he has been in the kids TV show, Ben 10: Omniverse as the voice of Professor Paradox and of course Donald Horatio “Ducky” Mallard in a remarkable  436 episodes of the popular NCIS.
David has been married twice. He married his first wife Jill Ireland in 1957. They met on the set of the movie Hell Drivers. Together, they had two sons and a daughter, Paul, Jason and Valentine, with Jason being the only one who was adopted. In 1963, David introduced Jill to his co-star on The Great Escape, Charles Bronson, and she left David and married Charles in 1968. In 1967,
David McCallum passed away aged 90 on September 23rd last year, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Katherine McCallum, his sons Paul McCallum, Valentine McCallum and Peter McCallum, his daughter Sophie McCallum and his eight grandchildren. NCIS paid tribute to him in an episode called The Stories We Leave Behind when the tagents find comfort in working on one of his unfinished cases. The episode features clips from several old shows.

Kevin McHale to make UK stage debut in Sondheim’s The Frogs
London will host a revival of The Frogs, a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Burt Shevelove and Nathan Lane.
Directed by Georgie Rankcom, the production reimagines Aristophanes’ ancient Greek satire, which was originally written in 405 BCE. The story follows Dionysos, the god of theatre, and his servant Xanthias on a journey to the underworld in search of a solution to societal strife. Along the way, they encounter frogs who resist change and challenge their mission to save civilisation.
Kevin McHale will make his UK stage debut as Xanthias, while further casting will be revealed in due course.
The show will play at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 23 May to 28 June 2025. It is presented by the Grey Area, (following their WhatsOnStage Award-nominated 2022 staging of Anyone Can Whistle at Southwark Playhouse) alongside Samsational Entertainment, Benson Drive Productions, Melissa and Bradford Coolidge and Thomas Hopkins Productions.
The creative team includes Ben McQuigg as musical director, Matt Nicholson as choreographer, Libby Todd as set and costume designer, Joshua Robins as sound designer, Tim Sutton as orchestrator, Peter Noden as casting director, Adam Smith as production manager, Waverley Moran as stage manager and Evie Graham-Brown as assistant stage manager. Rebecca Pitt has made the show artwork.
Tickets are on sale via the venue website.

TV Guide -  January 23 - 29, 1965
Kevin Joseph Aloysius “Chuck” Connors (April 10, 1921 – November 10, 1992) Film and television actor, writer, and professional basketball and baseball player. He is one of only 13 athletes in the history of American professional sports to have played both Major League Baseball (Brooklyn Dodgers 1949, Chicago Cubs, 1951) and in the National Basketball Association (Boston Celtics 1947–48). With a 40-year film and television career, he is best known for his five-year role as Lucas McCain in the highly rated ABC series The Rifleman 1958–63).
Connors had a rare comedic role in a 1955 episode (“Flight to the North”) of Adventures of Superman. He portrayed Sylvester J. Superman, a lanky rustic yokel who shared the same name as the title character of the series.
Connors was cast as Lou Brissie, a former professional baseball player wounded during World War II, in the 1956 episode “The Comeback” of the religion anthology series Crossroads. Don DeFore portrayed the Reverend C. E. “Stoney” Jackson, who offered the spiritual insight to assist Brissie’s recovery so that he could return to the game. Grant Withers was cast as Coach Whitey Martin; Crossroads regular Robert Carson also played a coach in this episode. Edd Byrnes, Rhys Williams, and Robert Fuller played former soldiers. X Brands is cast as a baseball player.
He also became a lovable television character actor, guest-starring in dozens of shows. His guest-starring debut was on an episode of NBC’s Dear Phoebe. He played in two episodes, one as the bandit Sam Bass, on Dale Robertson’s NBC western Tales of Wells Fargo.
Other television appearances were on Hey, Jeannie!, The Loretta Young Show, Schlitz Playhouse, Screen Directors Playhouse, Four Star Playhouse, Matinee Theatre, Cavalcade of America, Gunsmoke, The Gale Storm Show, The West Point Story, The Millionaire, General Electric Theater hosted by Ronald Reagan, Wagon Train, The Restless Gun with John Payne, Murder, She Wrote, Date with the Angels with Betty White, The DuPont Show with June Allyson, The Virginian, Night Gallery hosted by Rod Serling, and Here’s Lucy with Lucille Ball.
As Connors was strongly typecast for playing the firearmed rancher-turned-single-father, he then starred in several short-lived series, including: ABC’s Arrest and Trial (1963–1964), an early forerunner of Law and Order featuring two young actors Ben Gazzara and Don Galloway, NBC’s post-Civil War-era series Branded (1965–1966) and the 1967–1968 ABC series Cowboy in Africa, alongside British actor Ronald Howard and Tom Nardini. Connors guest-starred in a last-season episode of Night Gallery titled  “The Ring With the Red Velvet Ropes”. In 1973 and 1974 he hosted a television series called Thrill Seekers.
In 1983, Connors joined Sam Elliott, Cybill Shepherd, Ken Curtis and Noah Beery, Jr. in the short-lived NBC series The Yellow Rose, about a modern Texas ranching family. In 1985, he guest-starred as “King Powers” in the ABC TV series Spenser: For Hire, starring Robert Urich. In 1987, he co-starred in the Fox series Werewolf, as drifter Janos Skorzeny. In 1988, he guest-starred as “Gideon” in the TV series Paradise, starring Lee Horsley.   (Wikipedia)
