At first glance, you think that Ben is a normal guy. That he would be the voice of sense. But then boom! He is the nerdiest, hottest, sweetest, awkward, anxious man alive who has a weird obsession with calzones, loves his wife to the point where he arranged a very special meeting with her crush, AS AN ENGAGEMENT PRESENT and would rather make claymation than admit to himself that he needs help.

1 (You relate to) Lady Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey. She starts the series as a very self-centered person and gradually changes and actively tries to be better and learn from the mistakes she made and can't just walk away from. She's very human.

7 (You would marry unironically) Ben Wyatt from Parks And Rec. I know Jim Halpert is seen as the quintessential Sitcom Husband™ but Ben Wyatt is leagues ahead of him in several areas and I could go on but I won't. 😂

11 (You would cosplay) Oh MAN, I had to think about this one. The first character that came to mind is the book version of Lucy Carlyle, because with my hair a certain way I can kind of look like her. But honestly, a dream cosplay would be Connor from Detroit: Become Human. I don't look like him and I don't have the hair for it, but I love his mannerisms and I think the opportunity to be that character for a bit would be incredibly fun.

Get to know me better

No one tagged me because this blog has existed for literally two days, but I always like to try and answer these little quizzes and I found this one while searching for something else, so there we go.

Relationship status: Happily taken. Technically engaged I suppose... we don't care much for weddings, but people are very formal about these things and they need to hear an announcement of sorts to believe the relationship is going somewhere - so we made it official, that we intended to marry some day. But that was ages ago and we still haven't *shrugs*

Favorite color: reds, especially the darker shades like crimson or burgundy

Three favourite foods: chicken in (almost) any form. Homemade ramen (my partner is a fantastic cook and he's been getting more into Japanese and Korean cuisine since the pandemic). Homemade lasagna (I'm not a half bad cook myself and I'm a simple creature, I love comfort food).

Dream trip: Japan. I know it's a very vague answer but I'd really like to make a long trip of it and visit as much of the country as possible, which is why I'm not going into specifics because I could basically go on forever.

Anything I really want right now: The adult, responsible answer: I'm unemployed at the moment and money is a bit tight so... a job. A job would be nice. The nerd answer: to play a video game I've been expecting for ages that is gonna be released in early access tomorrow. Type: Romantic Show: NBC’s Parks and Recreation Featured Characters: Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt

Parks and Recreation quickly became one of my favorite shows because of how unapologetically feminist it is. And the most glorious element of the series isn’t just how much the ladies appreciate one another, but how the men are fully aware of the fact that the women they are surrounded by are their equals.

Ben Wyatt not only loves Leslie Knope for all that she is, but he is completely and fervently supportive of her dreams and that alone is indescribably remarkable. Ben and Leslie’s relationship reminds viewers that sometimes, the biggest risks give us the greatest outcomes in life. Their love also serves as a pivotal reminder that it’s key to wait for someone who’ll not only grow wildflowers in your heart, but to wait for someone who’ll never once question your dreams and aspirations.

Interestingly, on my list of favorite couples, it is often the female that finds “home” due to their hearts finally feeling safe with someone; however, with Parks and Recreation, it’s Ben Wyatt who finally finds a home with Leslie Knope. It’s Ben Wyatt who comes to the realization that a small, ridiculous town can be the greatest place in the world because it’s what led him to the most incredible woman he’s ever known. And it’s extraordinary for a woman with such enormous dreams to find a man who’ll go above and beyond to help her in every way possible. Leslie and Ben build a solid foundation on honesty and bravery—a gorgeous love wrapped beautifully with a childlike spectacle.
