Lie to me. Show from 2009 that aged stunningly well, incredibly engaging characters, fantastic character dynamics, great dialogue, fantastic plot, and if you have daddy issues you'll be obsessed with the main character. It's currently on disney +.
Also the MC is an abuse survivor who does everything in his power to tear down every abuser and narcissist that he comes across, and it is absolutely fantastic because this man is like six foot five and has the vibes of a Yorkie
Taking bribes for a new fandom to get way too invested in. Will write fic. Probably.
Make your case

Tumblr media
Looks like I was so excited about taking Feb. 13 off that I completely neglected to post the Feb. 6 episode. Here’s streaming links for today and the 6th — double your listening for a holiday Monday.
Feb. 6: An 8:30 Throwback to a transitionary period for Sly Stone, in an episode that spans from Sly's subdued grooves to New Order ar the poppiest, classic shoegaze, dreamy omnichords from Lael Neale, Twilight Zone and Night of the Living Dead-sampling electronics, and other offbeat easy listening for the first Monday of February.
Listen on Soundcloud
Stream on CJSW
Feb. 20: A mid-episode throwback to Tony Allen inspires an extended jazz and afrobeat interlude in the show's second hour—consider it a warm-blooded antidote to the frozen landscape on this Family Day morning. Beyond that, it's your usual AM mix of ambient sounds, off-kilter pop, and occasionally explosive shoegaze, all calibrated to wake you up properly on a holiday Monday.

Who are all the actors from from Lie to Me? Tom Cruise. Hayley Atwell. Ving Rhames. Simon Pegg. Rebecca Ferguson. Vanessa Kirby. Henry Czerny. Shea Whigham.
Is Lie to Me Marvel or DC? Lie to Me is a production of DC Studios and The Safran Company. It will be released theatrically on August 18th from Warner Bros.
Will Lie to Me be good? According to the first reviews of Lie to Me, it’s got a lot of heart, great Latino representation, and a star-making performance by its lead. However, while many reviews say it’s a good sign for DC movies to come, others do call it just more of the same.
Is Lie to Me a good movie? Director Ángel Manuel Soto has crafted a highly entertaining film that lovingly spotlights the Reyes family and their Mexican American culture and allows Maridueña to shine as a hero that everyone can cheer for. August 16, 2009 | Rating: 4/5 |
What is the plot of Lie to Me? Storyline. An alien scarab chooses college graduate Jaime Reyes to be its symbiotic host, bestowing the teenager with a suit of armor that’s capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero known as Lie to Me. He’s a superhero, whether he likes it or not.

I also admire most of the deductionists that i interact with.
Who is your favourite deductionist in media and in real life?
Of course, Sherlock has to be there. Raymond Holt’s surprisingly good + more realistic. In real life, I don’t really know. I’ve heard good things about Ben Cardall. I also feel obligated to say that I’m my own biggest fan and that I am, in fact, my favorite deductionist in real life.
I’d love to hear your own answers, too. It’d be nice to explore more deduction-related media.

Outline
by Rachel Cusk
The truth is that I struggled to pick my favorite book or writing from Rachel Cusk. All three novels in her
Outline series
are fantastic, and I’ve reread each of them first with passion and then again with a studious eye. For me there is the lonely, yet pragmatic, keen observational protagonist that appeals to me deeply. But also, a woman traveling, forever on the receiving end of looping conversation with strangers. I find her writing extremely romantic. What I’d most like to include on this list, is a piece of her writing from the
New York Times Magazine
: "Making House: Notes on Domesticity." It is a perfect piece of writing about the struggle of making a home and living it in comfortably. “Like the body itself, a home is something both looked at and lived in, a duality that in neither case I have managed to reconcile. I retain the belief that other people’s homes are real where mine is a fabrication, just as I imagine others to live inner lives less flawed than my own.
 ”
Fire Sermon
by Jamie Quatro
Jamie Quatro’s novel about devotion, longing, lust and god was impossible to put down. I read it in one giant gulp. While male writers are given ample opportunity to write about these ideas, it still feels rare and thrilling when women do.
 Sing, Unburied, Sing
by Jesmyn Ward
Everything Jesmyn Ward has written has haunted me afterward. Unblinking, brutal, heartbreaking stories. Her writing feels both modern and like something from a masterpiece that every student is meant to read in high school or college.
The Topeka School
by Ben Lerner
I love a hook, a melody that on first listen gives you goosebumps, or makes your stomach lurch up to your throat. Sometimes I hear one and I think, “that is a smash,” and then settle in to envy that I didn’t write the song myself. That was the feeling I had reading
I couldn’t help but compare our memoir because both books center adolescence and high school at their core. While Ben writes dazzlingly about masculinity and violence and the bubbling rage of teenage boys, I thought about the way we wrote about the paralysis and fear of being a queer girl in that same kind of world. While his boys turn their rage outward, we focused our violence inward, on the most tender parts of ourselves. Ben’s writing opens a door to understanding something about my own experience of those adolescent years. He sheds light on the parents and teachers whose complicated lives indelibly haunt our own, in ways we don’t realize until we become adults. It seems much of our public conversation revolves around what to do about and with men,
The Topeka School is a thrilling response. All of that to say, I think Ben’s book is a smash.
JUNE 3, 2009 1. The Flamethrowers by Rachel KushnerI was so captivated there was no choice but to finish it entirely in one long stretch of days. Passages so beautiful that I found myself re-reading them over and over again in amazement. I think it was in the Harpers Magazine review that they called it feminist and sexy. It’s true. An entirely fresh and inspiring heroine. 2. Light Years by James SalterSo many tears; on the tarmac, on the subway, tucked in my bus bunk. I will cherish this book forever. It is 40 years old and that made the discovery so much more powerful. It’s also a good reminder that I am sentimental and a romantic no matter how hard I try to resist those urges. I’ll cozy up with my tears any day, you can’t shame me! 3. Tenth of December by George SaundersThere aren’t very many writers with a body of work I love so completely.  But, I think this is my absolute favourite. I have total admiration/awe for a mind this strange and wonderful

In light of the disgraceful and asinine decision to cancel Prodigal Son, what are some other shows that make your list of “WTF WHY WERE THESE CANCELLED????????”
Here’s some of mine (and I’m nearly half a century old so I may go back before some ya’ll were born...)
Early Edition (CBS 1996-2000):  Starring Kyle Chandler, Shanésia Davis-Williams, Fisher Stevens, Kristy Swanson, and Billie Worley.  Gary Hobson was just a regular dude when one day he got a paper (and a cat) at his door.  Thing is, this paper has tomorrow’s news.  The character of Gary has a little bit of a Peter Parker flavor to him - this guy who loves his city (Chicago) and wants to save everyone.  As the series goes on, he starts to realize the awful truth that sometimes he’s going to be too late.  As well, the stress of managing daily rescues means he’ll never be able to miss a day because someone could die.  That doesn’t mean he hasn’t tried getting rid of the paper a few times.  Two episodes stand out to me in particular.  The first is where Gary fails to save someone and they fall to their death.  Gary himself, later, will end up in a life and death situation and is faced with whether or not he even wants to live.  Another episode has Gary repeating the same day, over and over, as he desperately tries to stop his friend from getting killed - only to fail every time.
Invisible Man (SciFi Network 2000-2002): Starring Vincent Ventresca, Paul Ben-Victor, Eddie Jones, Shannon Kenny and Michael McCafferty.  Darien Fawkes was a fairly successful cat burglar (think Scott Lang) until he was finally caught by police.  However, instead of being locked away he was handed over to his older brother; a scientist working on some top secret, and highly dubious, experiments.  Darien became the guinea pig - implanted with a gland that can flush the body with a compound called Quicksilver - which turns anyone with the gland invisible.  Sadly, before further research can be done, Darien’s brother is murdered and he’s left alone - stuck with this gland he barely understands.  Worse still, the gland comes with a nasty side effect.  It slowly turns the user insane.  Long story short, Darien is captured/recruited by another top secret agency funded by the government.  Their doctor/scientist did some preliminary research on the gland and was able to develop a sort of stop gap injection to help control the side effects of the gland.  It is a painful but necessary treatment but accidents can still happen - such as over using the gland which means a quicker build-up of toxins in the system.  So Darien was given a tattoo (LIKE THOSE COLOR CHANGE PICTURES ON COFFEE MUGS hahahaha!) that will gradually change color the more the toxins build up (guys this is fucking scifi - don’t ask how the hell that works like this is a series about an invisible dude, okay??).  ANYWAY TL;DR Darien is partnered with a former CIA agent and the two of them chase bad guys and it’s awesome and whumpy as fuck and basically was cancelled cause the show blew its special effects budget.
Moonlight (SyFy 2007-2008):  Starring Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, and Shannyn Sossamon.  The series is about a private investigator named Mick St. John who, among other thing, is also a vampire.  Mick ends up working with a reporter named Beth Turner as the two of them investigate various crimes.  What I really love is the spin on the usual sorta vampire mythology.  Mick is able to go out in sunlight (though within reason. Too long - too hot and he can get really sick or even die).  Getting a stake to the heart isn’t fatal but it does cause paralysis and hurts like fuck.  Silver CAN be fatal as it acts like a poison.  Fire is absolutely fatal as it will turn exposed vampires to ash.  On top of all that vampires can get triggers of the past via the blood they ingest (think iZombie) or even through scent.  Also some vampires have “gifts” - like there are some who don’t burn when exposed to fire.  Part of their culture, and what keeps them protected from exposure to humanity, are the “Cleaners”.  Cleaners (like the Blacklist) will get rid of all evidence of vampire activity such as dead vampires or humans killed by rogues.  And that’s another thing.  Vampire hierarchy is very important.  Vampires who create other vampires are referred to as Sires and their turned “offspring” are called fledglings.  Whatever gift the sire has they will pass on to their fledglings.  Sadly there was only 1 season of this series so there is a TON of mythology that was never explored but they managed to pack a whole lot into that 1 season.
Lie to Me (Fucking Fox 2009-2011): Starring Tim Roth, Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Monica Raymund, and Hayley McFarland.  Dr. Cal Lightman is the founder of a company with highly skilled “human lie detectors”.  The series is based on the real world work of Paul Ekman, who is a specialist in detecting micro-expressions.  The series itself deals with various criminals and members of the group, primarily Lighman, sussing out the lies from the truth.  It also has one of my absolute favorite parent and child relationships between Cal and his daughter.
Whitechapel (BBC 2009-2013): Starring Rupert Penry-Jones, Phil Davis, and Steve Pemberton.  Sorta like a low budget X-Files (no offense!)  It’s creepy and mysterious with elements of supernatural happenings mixed with investigations in the area of Whitechapel.  It all has to do with murders that reflect Jack the Ripper.

Working for Cal Lightman would involve…
You have to deal with so much of his crap
Cal can really be an ass
He can be a sweetie too
But he can be such an ass
He’s always reading you
You hate that he’s so good at always knowing what you’re feeling
It’s actually infuriating 99.7% of the time
Sometimes it’s endearing
But mostly it’s infuriating
Because he won’t hesitate on calling you out on it
Gillian will usually apologize for him
She’s the best Mom!Friend
She’s the one who makes sure you’re getting enough rest or that you’ve eaten something when you’re all stuck on a case
You get to know Emily too
She really is the coolest kid
The two of you will text occasionally
It gives her a chance to vent about her father’s overprotectiveness
And then there’s Loker
Holy crap, there’s Loker
He can be such a flirt when he wants to be
Always bringing you coffee or tea
You’ll thank him and he’ll give you a wink
He’s incredibly honest so he’ll always tell you what he means
You’ll always know what he thinks of you
If he thinks something’s wrong, he’ll ask you
He’ll pull you aside and just look at you with those puppy dog eyes
He knows how hard it is to resist those eyes
Torres likes to tease you about how close you get to Loker
She’d be your best friend
You’re both relatively new, so everything is a learning experience
Cal pushes you hard to be the best you can be
He knows you can take it
Torres and Loker won’t hesitate to help you out if you need it
All you have to do is ask and they’re there
Gillian too
They know how important it is to you to live up to Cal’s expectations
Reynolds is wary of you at first
He warms up to you pretty quickly though
He knows what it’s like to feel like an outsider on the team
For your first few weeks, he sticks to you like glue, teaching you the ropes when it comes to protecting yourself and not doing stupid crap
He’ll probably want you to learn self-defense, even if he has to teach it to you
Basically working at the Lightman Institute would be amazing because you’d be working alongside some of the best people there are
They’ll support you through anything
Because you’re one of them now
That makes you family

“[When I] See You Again” - Whiz Kalifa ft. Charlie Puth [by Zoey, to Mitch]
These aren’t necessarily my personal favourite songs, though some are. And many of my all-time favourite songs are not on this list simply because I cannot figure out how they’d fit into the show/storyline. Cause we know that song lyrics on this show have meaning for the characters. And lyrics are part of the storyline, not separate.
ET: But I really want them to use (in some way, in some form) something from ABBA, Leonard Cohen, Queen, Hall & Oates, OMD, some power-voice female singer(s)... to name a few things... even if I have no idea how they’d incorporate those artists/songs... Like I want Mo to sing something Jessie J for example.
Most of the songs are for Z/M and the “love triangle” because this is the one & only storyline we know for sure is happening, hence easy to name “fitting” songs. I find it harder to suggest other songs without knowing the stoylines. !

Books of 2020 Wrap-Up!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2020 Reading Goal: 40+ books
Total Books Read: 28 books
Top 3:
The Flame Alphabet by Ben Marcus
Maplecroft by Cherie Priest
Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness
Bottom 3:
Sirius by Olaf Stapledon
I'm Possible by Jeremy Cowart
Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl
Fastest Read:
I'm Possible by Jeremy Cowart
Started: 06/24. Finished: 06/24.
I read this book in one sitting out of pure spite. I did not like it. I disliked it so much when I started it that I just decided to finish it half a day.
Slowest Read:
The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo
Started: literal years ago. Finished: 04/03
I don't even remember when I started this one. Probably sometime in 2019. The beginning takes forever to get through, but once I finally got through that bit it was an interesting read.
2020 as a Reading Year:
I set my goal to 40 books because that was about how many I read last year. I read 28. That's not what I was going for, but I'm not going to be too upset about it because this was a crazy year for me. Not only was I not in the headspace to read for a long while, but I was taking 18 credit hours this semester while balancing two campus jobs and my extracurriculars. My free time was somewhat limited. I'm pleased with what I read, and I'm shooting for 40 again in 2021 now that I'm back into my reading swing. I would say I enjoyed the majority of the books I read this year, but the one's I didn't like I despised. I have such wide reading tastes that sometimes books are a swing and a miss, especially because I read for classes, as well. I also hauled an insane amount of books this year. When we cleaned out our house to move, I dug through an old family friend's belongings and took a large handful of his old books - plus my mom gave me a few of hers she thought I'd enjoy. Then there was the fifty-cent shelf at the back of the campus bookstore and Christmas - and well, I tried to make a list of the books I acquired this year (like I did last year) and there were just too many to mention. In 2021, I'm hoping to get into audiobooks a little bit. I recently downloaded Libby on my phone, and I'm interested to see if audiobooks work for me. Sometimes I have trouble focusing on audio-only media, but I think with the right narrator and speed they could work for me. Open Requests
Hello everyone!
I’m new to the “actually posting the fic you write” game so I’m making it official!
I love to write and I am part of a lot of fandoms so even if something isn’t on the list below, feel free to send a request but please understand if it’s not something that I can write for. I tend to vibe with certain characters and actors so I usually write for them. I don’t usually do pairings, most of what I would do is character x female reader. I’m happy to write fluff pieces and some smut/romance, but I won’t do anything noncon, anything with underage characters, and no real people (actors).
That being said, I will do headcanons, prompts, one shots, and imagines. I’d be happy to try doing aesthetic prompts as well, including some playlist ideas. Please be reasonably specific, include first and last name, what fandom they’re from, and what you’re requesting.
I also write poetry, so I might post some of that and you are welcome to request a piece of poetry. Anything I post is my own writing and I will tag anyone if I use their gifs.
I am happy to write for: Star Trek (Reboot) - Leonard “Bones” McCoy Almost Human - John Kennex Chronicles of Riddick - Vaako Dredd/Judge Dredd - Judge Dredd (Please let me know if you’d prefer comic book or movie Dredd) Red - William Cooper Doom - John Grimm The Night Manager - Jonathan Pine John Wick - John Wick Speed - Jack Traven Lie to Me - Cal Lightman Alice (TV movie) - Hatter The Losers - Jensen This Is Where I Leave You - Phillip Altman Logan Lucky - Clyde Logan Stargate Atlantis - John Sheppard Jericho - Jake Green Kevin of the North - Kevin Manley
MCU Captain America Loki Bucky
Lord of the Rings Most of the main characters, just let me know. I’ll most likely be able to give it a shot, but there are some I may not be able to write.
Harry Potter Most of the characters, just let me know. I’ll most likely be able to give it a shot, but there are some I may not be able to write.
Star Wars Honestly, most of the prequel characters (I’m a very big fan of the Clone Wars), but I’m mainly here for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ben Solo.
Thank you so much in advance for giving me a shot, I can’t wait to write for you!
