Let's just ignore the fact that the fandom for Warrior Nun got used and this feels like a backstabbing act. To learn that Simon Berry is not a part of the writing for the Warrior Nun movie and that the possibility that the original cast and Netflix Series story line is being ignored is just an overall fuck you to the fucking fans. Honestly that "announcement" was so anticlimactic that it just hurt. Totally abused the fandom. I love Ben Dunn for giving us Warrior Nun content and comic but to this is an out right fuck you to the fans that saved Warrior Nun. I felt like if they wanted to go back to the comics they should have finished the series with Ava's story line (there's so much more to it then her going to Reya's realm) and then offer a prequel following the comics at least let this way it won't feel like a backstab. In this life or the next ya'll....

So hearing about Warrior Nun not being “saved” per se, but getting a reboot that hems closer to the original Ben Dunn comic (because Netflix has the rights to the series and canceled it) has me wanting to say a lot about Dunn, the pseudo-manga art of the creator of Ninja High School and his contemporaries like Adam Warren and Fred Perry, and in general the feeling the industry has passed them by as we get manga by the truckload here via apps and bookstores.
But I’ll give you the short version of what the original series looked like with this 1994 animated sizzle reel that plays closer to Chrono Crusade (anyone remember that?) than what Netflix made and what got canceled.

Definitely more male targeted than the show was, that’s for sure.

This whole Warrior Nun thing reminds me of the Sex and the City 3 trailer skit from Robot Chicken where after the second one bombed they redid it to attract the male 18-34 demo. There’s just something very funny about completely changing an original story to an in-name only adaptation, it bombing, and then changing it back which infuriates the audience it did get.
