I love Eyewitness with all my heart but there was one thing that really, really bugged me: how heedless the show used the terms “pedophilia” and “pedophile”.
Was Ryan a horrible person? Yes.
Was his relationship with Bella healthy? Hell no.
But that doesn’t make him a pedophile.
“Pedophilia or paedophilia is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children.”
prepubescent children
Bella was a Teenager (I’m not sure how old she was exactly, my guess is 16 or 17). Ryan was obviously attracted to her, he was many things but a pedophile wasn’t one of them. That makes their relationship still morally wrong and nothing I would defend (especially considering that he killed her) but that the characters in the show are constantly throwing the word pedophile around like she was 6 or 7 just makes me really angry because we as a society misuse the term enough as it is. “16 year old girl with 20 year old boyfriend? wow, what a pedophile.”
And that needs to stop.
It doesn’t help real victims of pedophiles, it doesn’t prevent real pedophiles from hurting children. It just makes the characters/the people who wrote it and the people who use the term pedophilia like that in real life, look incredibly uneducated and stupid.
As my calibrations of a .psd yield closer and closer to what one could call ‘accurate’ colouring over footage of “Eyewitness,” I will be openly donating/sharing the end result to/with the rest of the fandom, because I understand that not every one wants to do the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest with colouring GIFs, and this show, more than most, deserves nice-looking GIFs, nonetheless. I’m not saying that it’ll be totally perfect, and please feel free to tweak/ask questions for individualized preferences, but it definitely will alter footage from having a muted dark green tint.
Also, obviously, expect a shit-ton of “Eyewitness” GIFSets from me in the very near future!
dealing with drunk people all night was far from an ideal job, but it paid the bills, put food in her refrigerator and then some. of course, her father’s inheritance she’d received post mortem had helped quite a bit. even in death, mithat milonkovic had made sure his daughter was as protected as possible. the bar had since emptied out with closing time nearing, only a few stragglers remaining. one being a bleach blonde, near her own age. it struck her as odd — knowing he was alone. not that she was one to judge. she’d been there more then once ; especially in her younger years. a gentle touch as hand rests on the shoulder of the drunken man. the thought of calling a taxi considered ; but decision made to walk him home instead. he was headed in the same direction as her — after all. once arrived at his home & invited inside ( this had never been part of the plan ) , a glass of water was poured for the drunken man whom she’d come to learn was named alex and a sandwich made. above and beyond for a bartender, but preferred nonetheless to going back to her own apartment and spending yet another night alone. upon alex’s insistence that bella stay the night, his offer was not one to be contested. sound logic for a drunk man that it was too late to walk back to her own.
night come and gone — and bella woke from couch with blanket overtop and sun blinding. she’d slept later than intended ; a consequence of how late she’d stayed up making sure he was alright. alex found in the kitchen, a pot of coffee brewing and the smell of poptarts in the air. clear to anyone that he himself had not been up long either. with a glimpse of a smile, she sat adjacent to the blonde. ❛ i should probably get going, but i just wanted to say thanks for letting me crash here last night — and for the blanket. your couch was surprisingly comfortable. ❜
"Say those two words." Williams smile was dark like his eyes now. "My favorite words."
Lukas let on tear fall as he stared at the photos on the floor. One was from their wedding day. Another was him at school. Lukas swallowed and looked at William. He was about to kill the love of his life. "I accept."

“Well,” Philip says. “Lukas thinks something weird is going on.”
“I think he killed his wife,” Lukas says, definitively.
Philip widens his eyes at him. “Earlier you thought something was going on, now you’ve jumped to murder? What the hell, Lukas?”
“She’s nowhere to be found, she’s not over there,” Lukas says, gesturing towards the window. “And he left his apartment over and over again in the early hours of the morning, Rose. With a briefcase.” Maybe he does sound a little crazy. But he’s not gonna back down until he sees the wife up and around.
Rose narrows her eyes, clicking her tongue. “Maybe he’s stepping out on her.”
“That’s probably it,” Philip says.
“No,” Lukas says, shaking his head. That doesn’t feel like it. This feels a lot more sinister. “She’s not there right now. He did something with her.”
