I don't care what anybody says - Beliel deserved better. Like, after writing this kind of redemption arc, he should have lived. It's so brutal and unfair that not only he spent an eternity in hell waiting for his friends to come back but those friends also caused his death in the end. So he killed some humans, so what?! Ugh! Purity culture 🤮

tumblr, I need an opinion.
which colour should I do next?
For context: this is going to be a squad of what I have been calling “magic girl space marines” so in true magical girl style they will be colour coded. I was thinking maybe red. Excuse and problems with words here: I am very high, and very proud of this purple.
#warhammer 40000#wh40k#painting#miniature painting#dark angels#i got a box of terminators to do this and I’m so excited.#I might get Beliel and paint him up to go with these dude.#But then I either have to magic girl Beliel#or make him aggressively average.

These are sketches I did of how Lucifer and Leviathan have appeared to me. Lucifer is pretty consistent, Levi is more prone to change age and appearance when appearing humanoid, and a lot of times is just Large Sea Noodle Of Abyss but that's a little outside my skill set to try to capture quickly haha. Want to try and paint it eventually though.
I dunno why Luci always has pink wide neck Venus sweater (I mean I know why Venus but not why wide neck sweater.) def not my usual type of fashion so I know it's not me projecting. But he slays the look so who am I to question.
Anyway this post is dedicated to them both! Ave Lucifer and Ave Leviathan! You both have done so much <3

𝕶𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕭𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖆𝖑
Who is King Belial:
King Belial appears many times in the bible within the Old Testament, especially in the King James Version (In the New King James Version of the bible his named is replaced with "wickedness" or "perversion" as a way to omit King Belial's name.) In 2 Corinthians 6:15, King Belial is painted as a direct opposition to Jesus, which has led many to debate whether Belial is another name for Satan. In the Goetia, King Belial is the 68th demon and is attributed with the rank of king among demons and he is said to have been created second only after Lucifer. He is the ruler of 80 legions of demons and 50 legions of spirits, who are of the Infernal and Celestial/Luciferian realms of the Earth. He is also named Prince of the Third Order in the Janua Magica Reserata. The order that is referenced in this is known as the "Vasa Iniquitatus", or "Vessels of the Iniquity." He also holds titles such as The Lord of the Sorcerous Path, Lord of the Earth, and a powerful daemon of will made flesh. He is best known to grant offices, distribute promotions, cause one to be liked, and give excellent familiars. He is also typically associated with chaos, seduction, and the darker aspects of human nature. He symbolizes primal desires and carnal pleasures. He also initiates into the Solar and Lunar gnosis of being. When invoked he brings self-initiation and development, specifically in he holds a gateway to aspects of the mind that control speech and thought patterns. It should be noted that he is an extremely deceitful spirit, also known as a divine trickster, and has to be compelled with divine names, presented with offerings, sacrifices, and gifts in order to get him to give truthful answers to demands. It is said he is constrained by the angel Habujah.
Names, Meanings, and Pronunciation :
The correct pronunciation of Belial is (Bee-Lial). Although he may be referred to as Belhor, Baalial, Beliar, Beliall, Beliel, and Matanbuchus, all of which are historical spellings or other names associated with King Belial. The name "Belial" itself is derived from a Hebrew word that most commonly translates to mean "worthless" or "without value" in English. It is also commonly accepted that Belial means "without a master," as well.
Appearance:
King Belial is said to speak with a comely, or pleasant, voice with a sinister touch to it. He typically may appear in the form of not one, but two beautiful Angels standing in a chariot of fire, in accordance with the Goetia, however it is assumed that this is a error as all other grimoires with mentions of King Belial describe only one Angel as his common appearance. However, in the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, he is described as having a second appearance as an exorcist in the bonds of spirits.

The reactions to that SMT2 demon post just prove that older MegaTen kinda Went Off with regards to oddball demon designs. One of the oldschool demons that has remained a series staple is Alice, often in the Fiend Race or Death Arcana (when in Persona).
She's very clearly inspired by Alice in Wonderland, but that's not the oddball part.
The weird, crazy, early MegaTen part is that she's a zombie girl who you fight in Disneyland, and her two daddies (the demons Nebiros and Beliel) have instilled in her a love of making people die. Yay!

My chain of thorns thoughts: Spoilers!!!
I have lots of thoughts and it might get a bit ranty so I’ll start with what I liked,
Thomastair—enough said, they owned this book.
The focus on rebuilding friendships Matthew/James Daisy/Lucy
The severity and care with which James abuse was handled.
The scene where Belial possessed the humans—it was creepy and awful
Grace and Jesse throwing bombs
Christopher coming back to help Grace finish the fire message
James flicking the lamp on- the drama felt perfect
Mathews journey
The epilogue.
Ok, now what I didn’t like. (There’s a lot,sorry)
Herondaisy / James refusal to tell her about the bracelet— it all felt silly and pointlessly dragged out. CC hyped herondaisy up so much for this book and I honestly think we were given breadcrumbs. They barely even had an entire conversation, chapter 23 was great but I’d rather have seen them actually discuss their feelings and James be honest with her. I hated Grace confessing to Cordelia, it just felt like corner cutting.
No wedding runes 🤬 I’ll never get over not being given this moment— I so wanted to see them renew their marriage just the two of them.
The last 30% dragged. It felt pointless with no stakes.
Cordelia and Lucie going to Edom and achieving nothing and leaving immediately— boring and pointless.
Beliels big plan being he wanted to become the king of England — again felt so stupid.
The drama with Bridgestock— literally only mattered to get all the parents out of London (nothing else happened with that plot)
Kits death— so rushed it might as well not have happened.
Here’s what I would have liked to see:
Beliel finding a way to take over the living Silent brothers and iron sisters as well as the dead
Maybe taking over idris instead of London and having them all trapped there the gang had to get into idris to find James and end Beliel.
James/Beliel almost killing one of his parents— imagine Will trying to get theough to James and it not working until the last moment. Will on his knees telling his son that he loves him and it’s alright before James manages to fight back.
James and Cordelia fighting each other under Beliel and Liliths influence— both of them tearing themselves apart rather than hurt the other.
Kind of rambling but there we are 😂

I finally finished reading the penryn and the end of days book series by susan ee. I have many mixed feelings, so let's start with what I liked:
the ending battle! whoah! that was brilliant and awesome! I loved how all the elements came to work together in the end. Like the Consumed taking host on the sixers? - poetic justice! And the beauty of humans celebrating art as their last stance against the evil that took the world! and they way it was all planned out! the image of metal music blasting from the speakers! raffe and penryn fighting back to back, switching the sword between them! perfect just so absolutely perfect!
raffe sacrificing his wings to save penryn, the way it brings his character arc full circle and poetically signals his choice of putting penryn over everything else - delicious!
penryn's mom!! pure chaotic energy! I loved her so much! And it was hilarious how everyone feared her lol!
finally, raffe and penryn's dynamic. their relationship was built up so beautifully and I could truly feel their longing for each other. It was beautiful how their love was the forbidden kind from so many aspects.
Now on to the things I didn't like (which are the majority unfortunately):
I understood the logic of artificial monsters to create a fake apocalypse, but the whole bit with the lab scorpions was so SO horrendous and out of place. I would expect to read this kind of thing in a book about a nuclear-war apocalypse, and not a biblical one. The whole second book was so hard to get through because of this.
speaking of, the only reason I got through the second book was because of the beautiful promise of raffe and penryn's reunion, but that also disappointed me as there was not even a single kiss. it felt like it was done on purpose to increase the hype for the third book, because when someone thinks the love of their life died and suddenly they get them back unexpectedly, rules and reason and self-control cease to matter.
and in general, throughout reading raffryn's story, their longing for each other was so intense that I couldn't wait to finally see them be wholly together... But that never happened. The few times it almost happened, the fire quickly blazed out. The intimate moments only lasted for a few paragraphs and always left you wanting for more. And that more never came. And I'm not talking about sex. But them both actually giving in to one goddamned passionate kiss without holding back, letting their thoughts and emotions out without restraint. That never happens and it's just so disappointing.
Finally, and this is what angers me the most. The fucking creepy scorpions got redeemed into being friendly cute pets when they should have all been wiped out of existence! But Beliel?!? No. He spends eternity in hell and the only rightful end for him is to have a lonely and painful death. That was SO FUCKING UNFAIR! Like of course I hated his crimes and everything he did. But the writer chose to write a backstory like THAT for him, and thought it was ok to still kill him off? But yeah, the flesh-sucking scorpions are just cute giant bees in the end. Thanks, I hate it.
