Here are 13 Brazilian slang terms that don't make sense in English:

Enfiar o pé na jaca (Stuffing the foot in the jackfruit) - Committing excesses, like drinking or eating too much.

A vaca foi pro brejo (The cow went to the swamp) - Something went very wrong.

Tapar o sol com a peneira (Covering the sun with a sieve) - Trying to cover up an obvious mistake ineffectively.

Casa da mãe Joana (Mother Joana's house) - A messy place.

Pensar na morte da bezerra (Thinking about the calf's death) - Being distracted or lost in thought.

Um espírito de porco (A pig's spirit) - A person who likes to cause trouble.

Última bolacha do pacote (The last cookie in the package) - Someone who thinks they are very important or attractive.

Dar sopa (Giving soup) - Making it easy for someone.

Tirar o cavalinho da chuva (Taking the little horse out of the rain) - Giving up on something.

Pagar o pato (Paying the duck) - Taking the blame for something you didn't do.

Chutar o balde (Kicking the bucket) - Losing patience and giving up on something.

Ficar de molho (Soaking) - Staying in bed, usually because of illness.

Quebrar o galho (Breaking a branch) - Helping someone in an improvised way.
