scene ♰⸝⸝ starter @bejiayi
another acting workshop, something luciel isn’t unfamiliar with. they mentioned that it’s a more acting intensive workshop than the camp held a few months ago, which caught his interest. he laments a little that he has lesser time to spend on his usual training routine, but honing another skill would be useful, especially on stage.
he gets paired up with a girl that he hasn’t spoken to before, though he remembers seeing her around once or twice. there’s always that initial awkwardness, to be abruptly lumped together with someone you don’t know for groupwork of the sorts. though luciel is used to this kind of thing, since it always happens in university.
“i’m luciel, do you have any acting experience?” he holds out his hand for a handshake with a small smile, to break the ice.

every time chaerin met one of the next gen contestants in the axis building, it still felt a little weird. here she was, standing side by side with jiayi when only a couple of months ago, she had been helping coach her for the competition show.
this was all to say that she was proud of the progress they've all made, and the fact that they were now equals. the annual axis halloween party had returned, and chaerin was kind of glad they took out the whole horror maze part from last year. trying to get out of the building was a hassle, and she much preferred this laid-back atmosphere instead.
"halloween's never been one of my favorite holidays, but i feel like i've grown to like it a bit more ever since i became a trainee," she mentioned to jiayi with a shrug. "maybe it's because it's become a day where i actually have to do something now." the last time she's dressed up for halloween before becoming a trainee was probably back when she was elementary school. since then, it hadn't been much work celebrating.

a starter for @bejiayi ( language 101 )
yuji figured a language workshop wouldn't be that much different than the usual classes offered. turns out, as she's learning, it's a lot more difficult. yuji's got the basics down, but it's a far cry from being anywhere close to fluent, much less able to hold a conversation.
she stares down at her notes, teeth worrying her lip before she glances over to her seatmate, jiayi. she doesn't know much about the girl at all, other than the fact she was a signee from next gen. studio delta, if she remembers correctly.
"do you wanna run through the examples with me?" yuji asks in a lull during the workshop, brief time to practice with their seatmates before they move into the next lesson. looking over the simple phrases they've learned and how they're broken down. "two heads are better than one." she jokes lightly, a ghost of a smile on her mouth.

water is a necessity
seira was quite excited for the waterbomb festival, ready to listen to music, sing at the top of her lungs, she’d even gathered together some money for merch. she was happy about all that nemo’s dream a while ago that had made all of those discounts happen, because now she had new clothes she could use for the festival. she’d taken her time deciding on an outfit, done her makeup with waterproof makeup, worn her signature pigtails she wore a lot as an idol and during next gen.
she stuffs a big bite of kimbap into her mouth, leaning her head back and closing her eyes as she enjoys it. “man, i really needed some food” she says before properly swallowing the big bite she took. “and you? isn’t it good to get some food in our bellies?” she smiles to jiayi. “y’know, some day, that’ll be us standing on that stage” she points at the stage before taking another bite of her kimbap. “i’ve never had a kimbap this good, but i’ve also never been this hungry”.
sending it to... @bejiayi

✦ . ˚ — @bejiayi
jueun was aware that idols had to be good at pretty much everything now. that's why she wasn't surprised that axis labels was trying to emphasize the importance of acting when it came to stage presence. however, jueun would argue that she already was pretty good at acting on stage. that is what she was complimented on while participating in next gen as well.
nevertheless, listening to these lessons couldn't do more harm than good, so she was sitting down, waiting for the trainers to enter. "how much help do you think this will really be?" she asked jiayi with a purse of her lips. admittedly, she wanted to see how the trainee life was really like, but they had been thrown into this special workshop, which means this wouldn't be their daily lives as trainees.
"i can see where it'll help, but i don't know. i guess i'd like to get more feedback on my singing and dancing first. do you get what i mean?" with that, she gave the other a shrug before blowing a piece of hair off her face. "though i'm sure it'll be helpful eventually."

one shot, one shot
< w. @bejiayi >
the stakes are rising everyday. this is the furthest stevie's ever been in next gen ever, officially-- it's a pretty impressive feat, he thinks. he really has felt like he's grinded a lot. and he's improving, which is all that he can hope to do, at this point.
outside of the coaches, he doesn't know the others well-- but they seem nice enough! and stevie's been able to coast through social gatherings meeting new people easily-- especially when they all have a common interest keeping them altogether.
or mission, rather-- but who cares! semantics, whatever that means.
"the bass drop into this part goes a little hard, so like..." he trails off, brow furrowed humming the beat under his breath as he moves his arms around. trying to find what feels right; they have some semblance of choreography done-- and stevie's trying to conjure up more ideas that fits with the beat. while also keeping in line with their concept.
he meets jiayi's eyes through the mirror, head cocking to the side. "what do you think about this?" he makes the motion of throwing his arms up roughly, feet moving loosely with the motion. "looks kinda powerful? maybe? might fit with the drop."

stakes.
there's a lot at stake this time around, seeing as this will be the first round of eliminations. he believes his team can do well, after a session of brainstorming they've decided to emphasize more on their strengths, though that doesn't mean completely getting rid of their weak points. on the other hand, they should show that they've been working on what they lack, right? that's what the judges want form him, after all.
it's no doubt that his strength is dance out of the big three though, that seems to be the case for the others as well. which is why they've incorporated a dance break into their version of the song. they'd just have to figure out how it'll go. that's one of the reasons why he's having a brainstorming session with @bejiayi, two heads work better than one.
"so, how about these extra steps?" touma asks, before he hits play on the remixed song and starts moving. the song's choreography is about formation and purposeful arm movements. touma thinks he should go with that theme, hoping to keep the rotation even too. it's powerful too, electric as well. with the lyrics and song title centering around something deadly. so, that's probably how they should act and perform.
he ends on a step, not faltering. he knows he needs to work on his singing, but it's comforting to know that dance is still with him. hopefully that stays. "what about that?" he turns to jiayi, ready for feedback from his teammate. "oh, and facial expressions would be really important."

* ♪ – welcome aboard
joomi watched the second season of next gen mainly out of support for ren and dohyun, but he got invested in the contestants' journeys as well by the end. needless to say, he was excited to see who his ceo chose to join studio delta.
song jiayi and song jaeyoung, plus stevie. he likes to give himself a bit of credit for stevie joining, but the other two were all ceo yoon, and he thinks they were good choices. jay, no doubt, fits the studio delta mold perfectly. jiayi is very talented, so he was 99% sure she would get signed - he just didn't know where. in the end, he's glad it's delta. they'll be better for having her.
joomi managed to catch the guys on the morning of their first day, but he doesn't run into jiayi until dinner.
he's honestly relieved he finally found her. he excuses himself from his table with his friends, and takes his tray, making his way over to where jiayi sits - alone, currently. joomi had jinyoung on his first day to be new with, and dohyun and ren were already his friends, so he didn't have to deal with the alienation of being new and not knowing many people. it must suck. hopefully he can prevent some of that from setting in for jiayi.
"hi," he greets her with a soft smile. "welcome to delta. can i sit with you?" he figures she'll say yes, but he doesn't want to assume. who knows, maybe jiayi likes eating alone.

"i like it more than the last ones offered." stevie says after a moment of genuine thought. he hadn't minded the others, though he certainly hadn't had the best of times during them. they were hard, as expected, in areas stevie doesn't really excel or practice too much in. "and i dunno...it's going to be pretty hard to top." stevie grins.
his head bobs in agreement. "yeah! exactly! how else are they going to know? it's supposed to be what, intensive too?" stevie's brows furrow. "that means we're going to get really into it, right? it only makes sense."
stevie's not too worried about it either. he's looking forward to it too much to feel nerves or worry. he's just busy wondering what the hell they're going to show them. "yeah..." he trails off. with how serious they want them to take the workshop, he expects them to be a little stiff and stern. "i mean, they can't expect too much out of us. we're still like, babies essentially." he says. "maybe they can give us a little bit of leeway."
stevie taps a rhythm on his pantleg, thinking. "if you're going to choreograph something, what's the first kind of dance style you'd go to?" he asks, curious.
”you think?” jiayi says with a chuckle. truthfully, she’s beyond excited for this and thinks that stevie feels the same. it’s nice to connect with like minded individuals. even though there are plenty of those at her studio, networking and making friends has always been her strong suit.
“oh that’d be awesome,” she tells him, clapping her hands together. “i feel like they would have to, right?l jiayi asks, brows furrowing. “how else would they know how much we’ve learned? it’s like a test, sort of,” she chuckles again. “not that i’m too worried about it,” she looks at the door as the coach walks in, trying to see who would be teaching the workshop. “but hopefully they won’t judge us too harshly.”

he's doing about as well as he thought he would. and he's probably not the most exciting person to have a camera on either, at all times. honestly. jingren sticks to a schedule and he's so dull. the early wake up time isn't a bother for him. a bit robotic perhaps, but it's easier to go by a schedule than something too spontaneous. he knows that there will be further things thrown his way, and that is the area where jingren should have considered more before participating in the show. yea.... too late to think about that now, since he's here and in way over his head. what the contestant is thankful for is that he's actually not alone, as there are a few foreign contestants around. english or mandarin, he'll take it. ( but this is the best opportunity to also improve in his korean... so! ) no one can say he didn't take on a challenge, alright?
the practice rooms are so nice, and he wonders if this is the life for him, being in the practice rooms for a grand majority of the time. he's taking the time to stretch prior to trying on some of the choreography that they've been taught already. improve improve improve, it seems, is the name of the game, and hopefully to rise in the ranks. he glances at the contestant beside him and jingren's pretty sure he caught her name earlier. "jiayi, right? i'm jingren. you seem to be a natural at catching on to the choreography compared to me," he says in mandarin, while leaning trying to get a full side stretch and sighing a little. "ready for everything?"

"you're both the opening and ending of this song, jiayi!" chaerin noted before looking down at the lyric sheet in her hand. she wondered if the other felt any pressure about being given such an important task because if chaerin was in her shoes, she think she'd be pretty nervous.
"the lines aren't much, but they are pretty important," she explained with a nod before singing out the opening line herself to show jiayi what she was talking about. her intention wasn't to put so much pressure on jiayi, but she knew how the opening and ending lines of any song could really make or break the performance.
it's not that she had no faith in jiayi, but she wanted the other to continue to prove to the judges that she had the star quality that they were looking for. or, at least, that's what chaerin believed whenever she saw jiayi on stage. "i'm sure you'll do find, but just make sure to keep that in mind."

she had to cut a bit of hours back on her workplace, but it was worth it. ultimately, yes. ara was glad she was done with school, which meant now she could balance out work and her training schedule. it really wasn't about the money, but moreso about keeping her relation with the kids and studio. backup plans, backup plans!
ah well, fancy seeing jiayi here, but of course, she didn't expect anything less from a good former teammate. at the axis studios, she's bound to run into other trainees here. they hadn't exchanged information but ara thinks this might be a good chance for her to nab the other trainee's information if they wanted to. after being out of the competition, things were much less heated and they were all seated in their own roles, after all. she subtly slides into a spot beside jiayi, which if jiayi didn't sense her there, she may be annoyed because the practice room was rather empty after all, and of all the places, ara had chosen the one spot that was occupied. "hello @bejiayi," ara says a bit too formally before letting that ice melt immediately. surely there didn't need to be any breaking of the ice when they'd worked together before. "it's been a while since we've run into each other, i was wondering when it would finally happen!"

inho and @bejiayi work on harmonies
while the concept wouldn't have been his first choice, inho found himself becoming more and more comfortable with it. it was easier to trade in his usual smirk for a softer, cuter smile. it was also fun to play a character that wasn't anything like his usual day-to-day persona, and his team mates were helping him realize that as he channeled what the nerdy version of himself would look like.
the whole concept was also fun, the nerdy boys chasing after the pretty cheerleader. inho got to have a moment with jiayi at the end of the performance, where he would have the chance to wink and flirt to his heart's desire, but along with that, they had to sound good together. so it was important they took the time to work on their harmonies now.
"how have you felt about our run throughs so far?" he asked her as they got a chance to work one-on-one for a bit. they'd practiced as a group, but there was only so much room for individual work during those moments sometimes. "i think our pitch sounds good together."
