Национальный парк Бейт Шаан. Руины древнего города Скифополиса. ⠀ Да сегодня все национальные парки закрыты, но разве это мешает поведать вам несколько интересных фактов об этом месте. ⠀ Национальный парк находится прямо на краю небольшого городка. ⠀ В этом месте люди селились с самых древних времен ещё с медного века, а в 15веке до н.э. город стал административным центром египетской власти фараонов. На вершине холма были найдена статуя Рамзеса, ну и каменные стелы Сети 1го. Город упоминается в библейских событиях на стенах этого города повесили тело первого царя народа Израиля и его сыновей после ⚔️поражения филистимлянам. ⠀ В 10ом веке до н.э город завоёвывал фараон Шешонк, а в 9ом веке до н.э город был разрушен Ассирийцами. ⠀ 🏛️После развала Империи Александра Македонского город достался Птолемея. Город получает название Скифополис, греческие историки связывают название с осевшим там ветеранами войнами скифами. Город процвет��л что не удивительно, ведь как раз рядом проходили две важных дороги Царей (Via Regia) и Морская (Via Maris) ⠀ 🕍Был короткий период под Хасмонеями пока не перешёл под власть Римской Империи в лице Помпея. Который дал свободу городу как и остальным 10ти города. Ну и при римлянах город был даже столицей провинции Палестины Секунды. ⠀ ⛪При Византии город только набирал свое богатство, в нем жили христиане, евреи, язычники и самаритяне. ⠀ 🕌В 7ом веке был завоёван мусульманами, а уже 8ом веке сильное землетрясение прервало его существование как процветающего города. Beit She’an offers the most extensive archaeological site in Israel, with some of the best-preserved ruins in the Middle East, but its memory will forever be linked to one of the most ghoulish events in the Bible.

On nearby Mount Gilboa in 1004 BC, the army of King Saul, Israel’s first king, was defeated by the Philistines and Saul’s three sons were killed.

To avoid capture, the wounded Saul fell on his sword.

See that one flat part of the pillar? That was where people were building on top of and saw this rock sticking up being like, "the hell is this?"
