The 7th B-Sides of Expectations : It is very hard being back to the city. There are children that feel fine inside the flat. You can read to them, give them toys and watch how fascinated they are by the view out of the window. Well, my dwarf is not such a child. He keeps banging the doors, screaming to go outside, and throws shoes at me. And you know what, I don't even want to suppress it. Being outdoors is all you need. But then - where exactly do you go when there are cars and cigarette ends and broken pieces of glass everywhere? Where do you go when you feel like a stranger in your own neighbourhood and long for more peace? Catching up with the Latvian national sport we drove out of the city to pick mushrooms. Just a short escape from city life, but better than nothing. And if you ask me whether it was easy going and whether I could relax, then of course the answer is no. Being with a toddler usually isn't relaxing, as they magically seem to know what you expect, and tend to do the exact opposite then. In the middle of tiny hands slapping my back and a not so tiny head knocking mine painfully whenever the dwarf got angry again of not having something his way - I did feel calm. There, in the middle of the forest, I understood how quickly time is running. His crying and whining and screaming will end at some point. It's all just a phase and will pass. What matters is finding the connection between you and the little one. Dropping your expectations and listen to your needs, as well as the needs of the dwarf. To really just listen. : :

Why me?
I’ll admit it, I’ve cried many times thinking, “why me God?” I mean let’s be honest everyone has at one point in their life. From being physically injured permnanently to having a daughter with a disability, I would sometimes think that I must be a terrible person to have all these hardships. I’ve gotten over it and realized that my obstacles in my life are actually blessings in disguise.
Having a prosthesis was not easy in the beginning and well it isn’t easy now. Anyone that has a prosthetic leg knows the struggles of stairs!!! Ugh do I ever hate stairs. Why you ask? Well it’s because with a prosthetic limb you don’t have the ability to bend your ankle as you go up. So until the new leg comes out (and be covered by the government) I’ll have to tough it out. Walking long distances isn’t fun either especially when Kymani only wants mama to carry her lol! But I keep on pushing and just push myself to strive to be better. My accident opened my eyes to a more positive and optimistic look on life. I’ve accepted it and I’m proud of myself for continuing to stay strong and strive to just live my life!
The question came around again when I found out Kymani had health issues before she was born. I even asked the question when we found out she had downs. No parent wants their children to suffer or struggle so it was so hard to see her go through everything she has gone through. But as she got older, she started to really show her personality and character. She showed me that she just keeps on swimming, like Dory. Kymani is a fighter and she fights hard! But at the same time she stays resilient and always stays happy! No matter what, she is worth all the hardships because she truly is an amazing little girl!
I’ve gotten rid of my self pity and the “why me” phase because life is too short. My mom always said, “God will only throw at you, what you can handle.” That saying resonates within me because it’s soooo true! I love my life regardless of the hardship I’ve endured. It has molded me into the person I am today. Once you realize your purpose, your true meaning of existence you will see why the things have happened to you! Then you can begin to appreciate life and all it has to offer!

Being a young mom means we met a little early. But it also means I get to love you a lot longer.
