Behind The Kit: Arsenal's Chosen Family - Little Brat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyra is struggling to fit into her new team and that often resorts in bratty behaviour, feeling isolated and misunderstood which is really a cry for help until Lia steps in to comfort her. warning: c/punishment
Joining a new team is never easy, and trying to figure out the dynamic within it can feel like a challenge on its own.
For Kyra, it was hard to settle into a team that was already pretty close-knit in a new country, she didn’t know who to turn to – Of course she had her older Australian teammates, but despite their presence, she still felt so alone.
Being labelled as a ‘pest’ was the only way to get attention, a desperate cry for help. Beneath the defiance, Kyra was struggling to find her place, feeling misunderstood and increasingly isolated.
However, everyone just seemed to write her antics as bratty and a typical Kyra thing to do as it was easier to do that way, after all. Easier to label her as a troublemaker than recognize her fear and uncertainty driving her actions.
“Kyra! Give it back!” Katie whined, reaching out for her beloved plush penguin, Peanut, as Kyra held it just out of reach.
A smirk crossed Kyra’s face as she dangled the plush tauntingly, “You want it? Too bad, you can’t have it!” Her voice was filled with playful defiance.
“Give it back,” Katie’s bottom lip trembled as the tears were moments away, her emotions bubbling up fast.
“Nope, it’s mine now,” Kyra insisted teasingly, ignoring the distress she was causing.
“Kyra, give it back,” Caitlin stepped in, trying to mediate the situation with the two of them before she knew Kyra would get herself in trouble with one of the doms.
“Stop being a pest, Kyra,” Steph sighed from across the room, although given the younger girls’ tendencies to be a brat sometimes she wasn’t surprised this was happening, “You wouldn’t like it if something was taken from you, would you?”
Kyra still didn’t relent, “She’s a baby, she doesn’t need it,” She sneered, mocking the brunette and refusing to give it up.
The commotion in the room was quick to catch Kim’s attention as she stepped inside, immediately alarmed by Katie on the verge of tears, “What’s going on here?” Her voice was sharp as she took in the scene.
“Mama!” Katie whined, rushing toward Kim, “Kyra took Peanut and she won’t give it back!” The brunette was moments away from dropping and was really in need of her beloved plushie right now, however it was a bit difficult when Kyra had it in her clutches.
Kim’s eyes landed on Kyra, who still held the plushie defiantly, “Kyra,” She said in a calm but firm voice, “You know it’s wrong to take things that don’t belong to you. The kind thing to do now would be giving it back please.”
Kyra’s smirk remained, unbothered by the reprimand, “Why? It’s just a dumb stupid plushie,” She mocked, “She’s a baby for needing one!”
“Kyra,” Kim repeated, her patience thinning as her voice sharpened.
Kyra’s eyes flashed with defiance, “What? She is!” She laughed, completely unphased.
Kim arched an eyebrow, “This is your last chance to give it her back now Kyra,” She told her, definitely not in the mood to play when it came to upsetting one of her own.
The young Australian girl had really been pushing boundaries since she joined the team, messing with the rest of the girls and causing upset amongst the team dynamic.
Caitlin and Steph had of course given everyone a heads up about Kyra’s usual pest behaviour, so they were somewhat expecting the commotion.
However, they hadn’t expected this level of upset. It was tough for everyone.
At first they tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was now starting to become more relentless.
“Right, you were warned,” Kim wasn’t having any of it amore as she strides towards Kyra, grabbing her wrist and pulling her firmly toward the bench, “You’re not going to get away with this behaviour anymore.”
“No,” Kyra began to panic, tugging to break free, “No, no, let me go– Let me go!” She yelled, squirming in Kim’s grip.
Unfortunately, Kim’s grip was stronger, dragging her across the room and pulling her over her lap, “You will learn to behave here,” The Scots’ woman said, landing a firm smack, “You’re new here, but that doesn’t give you an excuse to take things that don’t belong to you and I won’t allow it.”
“No, let go!” Kyra shrieked, struggling wildy and successfully managing to escape Kim’s grasp, not wasting the time to dart under the physio table, curling up and clutching her knees to her chest, “Leave me alone! I don’t like you, no more!” She cried, her voice cracking with fear.
“Kyra, come out from under there now,” Kim’s voice was authoritative, pinching the bridge of her nose and trying to remain somewhat patient, “Don’t make me count.”
“N… No,” Kyra’s small voice echoed from under the table, “Stay away with from me– Stay away!”
The Scot’s woman sighed, clearly frustrated, “Kyra Cooney-Cross, out now.”
At that moment, Lia and Leah both entered the room, the Swiss’ woman furrowed her brows as she took in the scene, “What’s going on?”
Kim huffed, “I am trying to punish the brat like she deserves, but she’s decided to hide under the table,” She gestured to the physio table, “She’s taken Katie’s plushie and not to mention upsetting Lotte earlier. Enough is enough now.”
“I see,” Lia knelt down to peer under the table where Kyra sat trembling and looking partially terrified, “Let me handle it.” She said gently, her voice full of calm understanding and having a knowing gut instinct that Kyra needed a more gentle approach compared to how the situation was currently being handled.
Kim folded her arms, “She needs discipline, Lia.”
“She’ll get it, but right now she is scared,” Lia reassured her, her tone gentle but firm, “I will talk to her and deal with it.”
Kim relented with a sigh, “Good luck.”
“Hello, little one,” Lia knelt fully to match Kyra’s level while she gave her a gentle smile, “I bet things seem pretty scary right now, don’t they?”
“Stay away,” Kyra whimpered, sounding more innocent than anybody is used to hearing her be, “Don’t hurt me. I didn’t mean to be horrible and take it.”
“I’m not going to hurt you,” Lia cooed, reaching out a hand to coax her out from underneath the table, “You’re safe here, Kyra. How about you come out from under there and we can talk? I can’t very well sit here and do it, can I?”
“I… I don’t wanna,” Kyra muttered, her voice thick with emotion, “Stay under here where it’s safe instead.”
“You will have to come out sooner or later, little one,” Lia joked while trying to keep the situation light to coax her out, “It’s safe out here as well. You don’t have to hide, little one.”
“Safe?” Kyra cautiously unwrapped her arms from around her knees.
Lia gave Kyra a genuine smile, “Safe.”
With a gentle smile and a bit more coaxing, Kyra slowly crawled out from under the table and directly into Lia’s comforting embrace, and the instant comfort Kyra felt was palpable as she clung tightly to Lia, desperate for the reassurance she had longed for.
Something that had been craving for a long time now, she’d been needing somebody to hold her in their arms and comfort her.
She has been needing this attention.
Joining a new team was scary, moving across the country was even scarier — she’d been needing an escape.
Maybe now she had it?
“It’s alright, little one,” Lia murmured, gently rocking the girl in her arms, “I’ve got you. You’re safe here.”
“I don’t wanna be punished, Lia,” Kyra’s voice wavered with fear as she continued to cling onto the older woman’s top, “I don’t want it.”
“Hey, hey,” Lia cooed, trying to calm Kyra down before she got worked up again, “It’s okay, you’re okay, remember? I know it’s scary.”
“I don’t wanna be,” Kyra whimpered in fear, her grip still iron-tight as she shook her head in protest, “I’ll apologise, I will— I’m sorry Katie!” she told the brunette, who was clutching her penguin, her tears dried.
“That’s a good girl,” Lia praised softly, “Thank you for apologising, little one. That was a nice thing to do.”
“No punishment now?” Kyra was hopeful she’d gotten away with it.
Lia frowned softly and shook her head, “I’m sorry little one, but you still need to be punished.”
“No!” Kyra immediately started to wriggle and break free out of Lia’s arms again, “No! I don’t.. I’ll be good, please!”
“Shh, it’s okay– No, no, no you don’t,” Lia kept a gentle hold of Kyra to avoid her climbing back under the table, “You’re okay.” She repeated.
“Let go,” Kyra whined, trying to fight her way out.
“It’s okay, little one. Let’s just take a minute to breathe,” Lia told her softly as she brushes a hair out of the younger Australia’s eyes and waits for her to settle a bit, “You know that you need to be punished, little one. You’ve been acting out a lot since you’ve been here, haven’t you?.” she told her.
Kyra pouted in disagreement with the news, “I didn’t mean too,” she mumbled.
“Whether you meant too or not, it’s not okay to do that,” Lia reminded her of the rules in the team, “This is a safe space here, Kyra and nothing bad is going to happen but you need to understand that behaviour like this can’t go unpunished.”
“Okay,” Kyra whispered quietly, barely audible enough to be heard by any other than the two of them despite the rest of the girls dotted around.
“You’re going to be punished for your actions, because you need to learn and be a good girl that I know you can be,” Lia told her still in a gentle tone of voice, “It’s okay to cry as much as you want, and then once it’s done I will hold you in my arms again just like we are now, okay? You’re completely safe here, little one.”
“Not hard?” Kyra pleaded, her bottle lip trembling anxiously.
“Come on, let’s get this over with,” Lia guided Kyra to stand up, still holding her hand as the two sat on the nearest bench and Lia didn’t waste time draping Kyra over her knee, “Remember to breathe, little one.”
With the first blow, Kyra whimpered at the sudden power behind it.
“I want you to remember this as a reminder for the next time you decide to try and take something that doesn’t belong to you,” Lia scolded her lightly, “I hope this will stop any of this behaviour in the future.”
The second and third, Kyra immediately felt the tears well up in her eyes as Lia continued.
“You’re doing so well,” Lia cooed, not letting up on the girl so easily as she moved to land the final few.
By the sixth and seventh, the tears were visible as she thrashed her legs and tried to wriggle free.
“Just a few more to go,” Lia told her softly, “And then we’re done, okay?”
By the ninth and final tenth one, the young Australian was sobbing and begging for it to be over.
It was only a light spanking, just enough to drive the message to Kyra that her brattiness will no longer be acceptable now and there will be consequences if it happens again.
“It’s over little one,” Lia murmured, not hesitating to scoop Kyra back up to hit her on her lap, “You handled it well, I’m proud of you.”
“No more, please,” Kyra sobbed quietly, instantly clutching hold of Lia again, “I’ll be good!”
“Shh, your okay little one. I know you will be,” Lia rocked the younger girl in her arms, “Calm down now, it’s okay. I’ve got you.”
“Don’t leave me,” Kyra sobs soon turned into small hiccups, moving to bury her head against Lia’s chest with the way she is holding her, “I don’t want to be alone anymore. I don’t like it.”
“You’re not alone anymore, little one,” Lia comforted Kyra with sweet words and gentle rocking, “You have a family here, you’re safe here.”
However, what Lia didn’t realise was that while she was focusing her full attention on Kyra, she also had a jealous little lamb on her hands in the far corner.
“That’s my mommy!” Leah declared storming over to them both and scowling grumpily at Kyra curled up in Lia’s lap, “I don’t like it.”
Kyra didn’t respond other than a small whimper.
“Le, it’s okay,” Lia turned her attention to the grumpy blonde while she still continued to hold Kyra tight in her arms, “We can learn to share now, can’t we? You have to be nice to Kyra, little lamb.”
“No, mine!” Leah murmured, grumpily still not all that keen on Lia’s response and huffed unhappily, “That’s my mommy,” she repeated quietly to herself as she sulks off back to the bench, sitting there with her knees up to her chin and wrapping her arms around them tightly, all but convinced that she’s now going to be replaced by the little brat that’s came into their lives.

Behind The Kit: Arsenal's Chosen Family - Little Lamb
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
leah finds her rehabilitation stressful and the setbacks that come with it are challenging in itself, causing her to drop as soon as she’s in a safe space, the only problem there, her safe person Lia isn’t there, and of course that results in a very scared little girl that can only curl up and try to comfort herself until Lia is there to hold her little girl again.
Nobody ever said rehabilitation would be an easy journey in an acl injury, and anybody who has ever said otherwise is lying. Rehab is hard, grueling and exhausting – both physically and mentally.
The weight of it pressed down on Leah every single day, pulling her deeper into a spiral that she couldn’t escape.
But what made the rehabilitation worse? The setbacks.
Months of work, painstakingly slow progress, only for one minor hiccup to send her crashing down and feel like everything was lost. The feeling of drowning in water, desperate to come up for air, but not knowing how.
That’s how Leah felt now, she completely hated it – the way the panic crept up on her, dark and heavy, wrapping around her mind like a storm cloud.
It was all too much for her to handle.
Walking through the front door of her home, her throat felt tight, her head pounded and her legs wouldn’t stop shaking, she felt like the drop was imminent now, only moments away from happening.
Right now all she wanted– needed was Lia.
But Lia couldn’t be here right now, she was currently on a plane heading home from being in Australia for the World Cup, and the realisation was enough to send a fresh wave of panic crashing through Leah, and as a result leave her feeling even smaller than she did before.
Whimpering to herself, she lowered herself to drop onto the sofa and clutch a tight hold of the nearest blanket available, hoping it could somewhat replace the safety and comfort her mommy always brought her.
Leah felt like she was sinking, her heart was racing and her breath was shallow, all she wanted right now at this very moment was her mommy. Lia was her safe space, her anchor when the world became too much for her to handle.
Lia walked through the front door and the exhaustion was etched into every step that she took. The World Cup for her had ended in bitter disappointment, but right now, all she could think about was seeing her baby girl.
Her emotions were raw after the tournament, but the thought of holding Leah made everything feel just that little bit better.
“Le?” Lia called out softly, dropping her bags by the door as she kicked off her shoes.
Expecting a response, however she was met with complete silence.
Lia’s heart skipped a beat as worry gnawed at her, Leah was never one to ignore her and she would only usually be too happy to see her, practically jumping straight into her arms if she could, “Leah?” She called again, a little louder as she made her way further into the house.
It was there in that moment that she heard it – the soft broken sob that came from the living room.
The Swiss woman’s heart shattered and she didn’t waste time rushing through and over to the sofa where Leah was curled up in a tight ball, her face buried in the blanket, trembling.
“Oh, little lamb,” Lia whispered, her voice filled with love and concern, crouching down next to Leah, “I’m here, baby girl. Mommy’s here,” Her heart ached at the sight of her girl in such distress.
“Mommy,” Leah whimpered, her small voice breaking through the blanket.
The single word was enough to unravel everything Lia had been holding in as she quickly slid onto the sofa, pulling Leah into her arms, “Come here, little lamb,” She murmured, cradling her tightly, “I’m right here, you’re safe with mommy now, I’ve got you.”
Lia wasn’t entirely aware of what had caused Leah to be so upset and vulnerable, but she wouldn’ ever hesitate to comfort her baby girl when it was needed.
“Mommy,” Leah repeated in a whimpered tone of voice, her fingers gripping the fabric of Lia’s shirt, holding on as if letting go would mean sinking back into the darkness, “Need you.” She whined, her breath hitched as she sobbed into Lia’s chest, all the anxiety and fear from the past hours melting away now that her mommy was here again.
“Shh, it’s okay, my little lamb,” Lia whispered, pressing soft kisses into Leah’s hair while she rocked her gently with her arms securely wrapped around the blonde, “You’re okay, I’ve got you. I’m here now, I’m right here.”
Leah’s breathing slowly began to steady with the warmth of Lia’s body grounding her, and pulling her out of the panic, “Mommy,” She mumbled the word again, clinging onto Lia.
“I’m not going anywhere, baby,” Lia’s heart clenched at how small Leah sounded and how fragile she was, “You’re safe with me. Just breathe, okay? Focus on me.” She tightened her hold, wanting to shield her from everything.
Nodding weakly, Leah’s fingers still gripped hold of Lia’s shirt as her head rested against her chest, listening to the steady rhythm of her heartbeat.
Lia didn’t let up rocking her gently, keeping her fingers running through Leah’s hair in soothing strokes, “I’m sorry I couldn’t be here sooner, my little lamb,” She whispered, “But I’m here now, Mommy’s got you, and everything is going to be alright.”
Leah didn’t speak, but the way she relaxed further into Lia’s embrace told the Swiss woman everything that she needed to know.
They stayed like that for a while, Lia just holding Leah close, and Leah holding on just as tightly because neither of them wanted to break the comfort they found in each other.
After a while, Lia pulled back just enough to look at Leah’s tear-streaked face, “You okay now, my sweet girl?” She asked, wiping the wetness away with gentle fingers.
Leah gave a small nod, still feeling vulnerable but no longer scared, “Safe, Mommy,” She whispered again, as if the word itself was enough to make her feel safe like she wanted.
“I love you so much, my little lamb,” Lia smiled softly, pressing another kiss to her forehead, “I know things are hard right now but you’re so strong, even when you don’t feel it.”

it’s like baby gorl there’s no way I, the author who wrote the fic you’re commenting on and who is the intended audience for this comment, am gonna agree with you 😿🙏 some things can just stay on your chest 🙏
#there’s a threshold I think of what I accept in comments about characters#and their actions or about who is in the wrong or what should happen#because I do like reading people’s opinions#and sometimes when someone is like I didn’t like obi-wan in this fic#I’m like makes sense! maybe you weren’t supposed to or maybe the argument they had was supposed to not be clear cut on who is right#because arguments in real life don’t always have a clear cut winner or morally superior person lmao#I’m ok with that I’m ok with comments saying boo this character is annoying#because sometimes they just are (eg the amount of people who just don’t like obiwan in pbatmb like?? yeah of course he’s not gonna be nice#but I digress lol#anyway but there’s a threshold of when comments about not liking a character go too far and you’re just like.#saying mean things about the writing itself and that’s not something lm gonna allow to be normalized#no matter the intention behind it#you do not type a comment like this knowing it wil be send to an author#who will get an email notification about a comment#click on it and go oooo long comment :D and then go oh.#you don’t do that it’s rude it’s being a jerk#I’ve been here for like 3 almost 4 years I feel ancient in this fandom sometimes#and I’ve gotten so much feedback on my work through that time and so many nice comments and community#but mean comments can really hurt especially new writers#and they can make people who maybe would write fic for a fandom decide to not#like this isn’t even that mean I can almost see the writer just wanting to say how they feel#but sometimes you do not have to 🙏#also I just think this understanding of the characterizations in the fic and probably their understanding of the characters in the films#is a wee bit trash but that’s for me to say in the long tags of my own blog post and not for me to comment on their fics for the fandom#(they don’t have any but I did check because 3am kit felt nosy)

Leave it to Kit to put way too much effort into a dumb joke.
