An area, known as "le Rudyng" (indicating a woodland clearing) in the mid-13th century, had by 1534 come to be called West End. It was then a freehold estate belonging to Kilburn Priory, and was so called because it was at the west end of another, larger estate. Although it is possible that there was a dwelling on the estate prior to 1244, an estate house was certainly extant by 1646. West End Lane (named as such by 1644), the main road through the area, is still bent at a right-angle at the north and south ends where it connects to Finchley Road and Edgware Road respectively. This is because the lane used to form the boundary between a number of different estates.
By the early 17th century several houses were present, and by the middle of that century London merchants were building larger houses in the area. By 1800 West End was a hamlet of two to three dozen houses and cottages located in parkland, mostly on the west side of West End Lane and Fortune Green Lane, and north of the present-day railway lines. West End Lane had been rerouted, making it straighter and lying further to the west than previously. In 1851 residents were mainly agricultural labourers, gardeners, craftsmen and tradespeople, with an innkeeper, two beershop keepers, a schoolmistress and a few gentry. There were three main large houses: West End House, West End Hall and Lauriston Lodge.

Wednesday 6.. December 1837
8 ¾
12 50
fine soft morning F36 ½° at 9 50 and breakfast – before breakfast was over went out to Mr. Wheatley – 2nd visit to Mangnall – doing very well – pity to shoot the horse – would do for a coach-house – then with Mr. Ramsden foundry man, in the new bank, who came about the drying closet – a stone floor would not answer – should be iron, and have a fire (like a boiler fire) to itself from the room adjoining the laundry – R-‘s job would cost about £6 of which about 17/. (2/. for Wood and 15/. for labour) for the models maker then finished breakfast and A- came and sat by me – she poorly but would ride to Bouldhsaw – off about 12 and back about 5 having sent George over from B- to the Bowling iron to inquire about the iron hay racks for farm stable (late cow house) – to come on Saturday or Monday – note to this effect in answer to my message meant to have gone to H-x but had Mr. Sharpe from near Redhall with his dark brown cart horse (led by John Sunderland of the old Dumb mill beershop) price 30 guineas – heavy, gummy legged, tup-faced – must be of slow action – rather slow – but all agree a good horse – six off – S- should have asked £25 thought of setting the gray against the brown – S- asked what I valued the gray at – 27 guineas – as well or better worth that than the brown worth 30 guineas – S- seemed unwilling to leave the horse on trial – asked if he would take gray and Magnall in exchange he made no answer – I said I would think about his horse, and let him know if I thought more of him – Sunderland asked what I would take for Magnall - £10 – what was the lowest? said I might shoot him and get but a sovereign for skin and carcase but I would not sell him for that – Townend came – stood by so did we all – (Sharpe Sunderland John Booth and David B- the mason) – while T- unloosed the dressings – a terrible cut, but veins and sinews safe and the wound doing very well – T- said the horse was not worth more than a sovereign now – I said if I did not have the animal shot, T- would hear and might come again, if he liked in a few days, and we would try to bargain – I would not keep the horse – all this and a long talk with DB. (want Edward to sleep at Northgate till the Crosslands take possession) took me till after 4 – then with Robert Mann + 5 at the low fishpond – and a little with the masons – the passage into the hall re-flagged temporary 3 men at the saddle room doorstead turning to the east end of the building (towards the coach house court) and walling up rewalling up the corner of the building – much shaken before being taken down – in the stables and about till near 6 – a little while with A- she gave me ten pounds towards bill for Northgate sometime in the wine cellar getting in 4 sacks of saw dust brought from H-x the other day and left at the cellar-door – warmed myself by cellaring the stuff myself – dressed – dinner at 7 10 Mr. Jubb here (saw him) this morning just before A- went – came 2nd time (1st on Monday) to see Cookson – much better as to the pain in her side. A- read French I read (much aloud) the newspaper – tea about 9 – wrote all the above of today till about 10 ¾ pm finish day for the time of year – asked Mallinson junior at noon what he had thought about Mitham (some days ago offered him buildings except the barn and Ing and little croft and gardens at £30 per annum) answer his intended father and mother in law very agreeable to it – I conclude .:. no objection to rent – said I had not yet received AG.-‘s answer – 2 swans 1st seen on the meer this morning strayed from somewhere – cousin came gently about dinner time F32° at 11 ¾ pm

All You Want to Know About Crafted Beers in USA
How Craft Beer Trends Changed in 2020
We all know Americans love beer but not everyone knows about beer styles in detail. As this is the best time in the USA for lovers of craft beers, we are glad to write about craft beers. Our country is having more than 8000 breweries. Craft beers are beers made by small independent breweries with yearly production equal to or less than 6 million barrels. Also, 25% of any craft brewery in the USA is owned by an industry member and not the brewer. Craft beer in Cambridge is available at the leading online liquor stores for quick delivery.
The styles of beers made in the US are the highest of any other nation in the world. As far as craft beers are concerned, it is up to the brewer to use the style guidelines. Some of them break the traditional brewing styles. Though it is extremely difficult to record the style guidelines of brewers, we have listed some latest trends in craft beers. Being a leading beer shop in Cambridge, City Liquor loves to share the insights of the industry.
History and Growth of Craft Beer in USA
Craft beer making is one of the oldest arts of the country. They are an integral part of the American liquor industry even today. The art was brought by the Europeans during the era of colonization. Dutch colonists found the New York climate and water perfect for beer production. By 1660, there were approximately 25 breweries.
The next 200 years proved pivotal for the growth of craft beers in USA. Those days, all beers were crafted beers. After the end of the Civil War in 1865, beer production started in a massive volume. The reason was the growing customer base and soon it became a large industry for entrepreneurs. There were more than 40 beer-producing companies in USA towards the end of the 20th century. This was the time when crafted beer saw a clear downside.
Thanks to Fritz Maytag, craft brewing got a new life in USA in 1965. He made a specialty beer that replicated darker beer style belonging to the Old World. He purchased a small beer operation and created a distinctly crafted beer. His craft brewing became infectious within five years. Hundreds of homes in America revived home brewing. They made it for their consumption. Some people made it a small start-up opportunity.
The history of craft beer took the most interesting turn in 1976. Jack McAuliffe established New Albion Brewery in 1976. This happened in Sonoma, California after his tenure in U.S. Navy. This was the first-ever microbrewery of modern America. Inspired by his venture, dozens of microbreweries emerged in a decade. This heralded the coming of craft beer in America in a big way. Today the category occupies a staggering 12% of the total US beer market.
With City Liquors at your service, you need not brew craft beer at home. Simply buy beer or order wine online in Cambridge.
Latest Craft Beer Trends in USA
As the pandemic created havoc in 2020, breweries changed the way they work. Most of the brick-and-mortar breweries opted for online beer delivery.
Online Beer Delivery
With people preferring to stay at home, online beer delivery was a brand-new trend of 2020. The digital sales of beer is still on the rise even in 2021. Things like beer gardens and drive-throughs became popular. However, the breweries still give priority to the choice of the customers when it comes to beer style.
Classic Beer Styles
Craft beer lovers have varied choices. Some people never stop adoring classic recipes of beer and lagers. At the same time, IPAs and Stouts were also loved. Ultimately there is always a section that still loves traditional styles crafted beers.
Sour Beer
The popularity of sour beer has seen a clear increase for the past few years. People love highly tart beers and hence we see Belgian-style Lambics and lemony Berliner. Sour beers are completely different from lagers and Indian Pale Ale. They are made by adding fruits like peach, raspberry, and cherry creating unique beer flavors.
Craft Hard Seltzer
City Liquors offers White Claw and Bud Light Seltzer variety. Hard seltzers were crafted by many craft brewers in 2020 as they became popular. Along with leading brands of hard seltzers, craft hard seltzer also ruled.
The best part about craft beer trends is that customers’ choice is at the top. Craft brewers try new things and small breweries are always loved by beer lovers. Though the major players still enjoy prominence, small independent breweries have made their place in the list of the top breweries.
City Liquors knows your love for crafted beers. Our products are sourced from a top brewery in Cambridge and across the country. Buy any beer style from your home for online alcohol delivery.
