I love how we saw Win go from panicking and denying love to helping his friend date his brother because he knows how much love can help a person.

I love we saw Bee go from just another goofball to someone willing to stay a secret because it means that man he loves can continue his career because he loves him more than that.

I love how we saw Team go from doubting his every move to moaning about he knows Win loves him but they have to leave now!

I love how we saw Prince go from a stranger with no time for school to someone who is loved and safe and no longer lonely, no longer working alone because he has people he can rely on.

I love how we saw Waan go from rejected son and loser to a accepted leader who knows he will be respected.

I love how we saw all three of the boys in the husbands gang find their respective husbands and take care of them, protect them, love them, keep them close and precious.

I love how this show showed us how sexy consent can be, how beautiful love is, how comforting a hug can be, how important words can be, how powerful friendship is, how much people matter and how much people can love.

Thank you, Between Us. It's been a wonderful journey. May the red threads lead you home, the hemp rope bind you, the ethernet cord keep you connected and the film reel show you the world as it should be.

Prince confessing that he's gay, and framing it as a condition that Bee might not understand or accept-- after Bee had kissed him, after Bee had been following him around like a puppy for weeks and being pretty clear about his feelings -- broke my heart into itty bitty pieces.

He presented it like it was an illness, which is obviously something that has been drilled into him by his agent and the industry he's working in. He looked so heartbroken at the idea that this would be the thing that would push Bee away.

And Bee, precious half-a-braincell-and-i-share-it-with-my-besties Bee, who can also be so emotionally aware, and is so gentle and understanding just says "Gay, like when a man likes another man? Oh. Then I guess I'm gay, too," like it's the most wonderful news-- and also like he's literally never thought about it before, even as he's been actively trying to date this boy all semester. Like the label doesn't matter to him at all, but if it helps Prince be more comfortable and less lonely, then yes, he'll use it.

Just. The way that they have had to be so careful, and had to hold themselves back, and Bee leaning in for that kiss and declaring his feelings with so much joy, and Prince getting to be wanted for who he is, and throwing himself into that hug with the biggest smile... They're just so cute and I'm so happy to see them happy.

Just finished the Between Us series ( after almost three days of original airing) .

I just feel that they rushed the Waan and Tul 's arc. They could've agreed to have a talking stage before jumping on eachother into whatever that was !!!!!!

Am I glad that all the 5 couples got happy ending? Yeah.

Do I feel like the rest of the couples needed a little more screen time to get us more attached to them? Absolutely.

Am I manifesting a WaanTul spinoff? a little bit.

Does the end of this series means I'm gonna watch UWMA? mostly not, it's pretty sad. I can't let myself watch it. But it might take one youtube shorts of UWMA to get my impulsive mind to fixate on reincarnated soulmates trop. We never know.....

- WinTeam Supercut -

To support the series, watch Between Us on Studio Wabi Sabi's official playlist (free cut version), their membership channel (subscription-based uncut version), and iQiYi (subscription-based uncut version).

A while back, I decided to make a WinTeam supercut for myself, and I made a post talking about why. I enjoyed the series overall, but I think there were some aspects that really suffered from the editing decisions, so I'll go through how this edit will differ from the main series.

Couples: This cut only has WinTeam, WanTul, and DeanPharm, since ManaowPruk and BeePrince are unrelated to the main storyline. Flashbacks: I'm a devoted enemy of the flashback, especially when the scene we're flashing back to was fourteen seconds ago. Flashbacks are shorter or removed entirely. Music: I've found an AI tool that separates the vocal and music tracks so I can either isolate the dialogue completely and make the scene quiet or replace the music with something different. Subtitles: I adjusted these only to make them more readable with some native English nuances – I tried to keep them mostly intact because I don't speak Thai, so these are mostly linguistically cosmetic adjustments.

Example: Below is a clip from episode one of the supercut. First, I edited the initial audio when Team approaches Pharm. In the original, when Team walks up, his voice is just as loud both times he calls Pharm's name, but since the scene begins from Pharm's perspective, I wanted to help the transition to Team's perspective by putting a fade-in effect over his first "Pharm?" so it shows how disconnected Pharm feels until Team shows up and calls him back. Also in the original, after Team gets the call from Pharm, there's a long stretch of Pharm having a breakdown intercut with flashbacks to InKorn. I removed all of this as well as the original background music. While searching for a different instrumental track to use, I realized that I'd shortened the scene enough that I could extend the previous scene's instrumental from Until We Meet Again throughout Team and Pharm's scene as well. I cut just enough from the top of the scene that the music swells just as Pharm puts his head on Team's shoulder, emphasizing this sweet moment early in their friendship. To me, the UWMA music felt more thematic than the music in BU, since the scene is about DeanPharm. Like this, it's a fond callback to the original series where most of us were first introduced to these characters. And as a bonus, I was able to place the track just right so that the music gets softer when the camera pans to Win, switching our attention to his perspective right before the scene ends. And that's it! A few simple edits and we have all four characters covered by one of the most iconic tracks from the series that launched them all!

I finally watched Between Us...

Before I give my opinion, I do want to say that before watching I had binged UWMA for the umpteenth time, so that series was very fresh in my mind. I was also watching it with two of my mutuals: one who was a fan of Between Us and the other who didn't particularly enjoy it but was also a huge UWMA fan like me.

If I were to just take it as it is at face value, then I have to say it's not as bad as some people claim it to be. However, I am coming into the series as an UWMA/WinTeam fan so because of that I have several problems with the end product.

1) Continuity went out the window on several occasions. Again, this might not be as important to some people, but my UWMA brain just could not shut off.

2) BeePrince were completely unnecessary to the story especially with Prince having absolutely NO connection to either main character.

3) New's editing is sooo bizarre. There are so many flashbacks of the same scenes, in their entirety, sometimes right after these scenes just occurred. I know it wasn't his intention but it sort of devalues the intelligence of the audience and the acting ability of his actors. Like trust in your actors to convey the proper emotions needed to push a scene forward rather than having to playback why it is they are feeling what they are feeling. We get it! We don't need to see it pushed in our faces over and over again. Boun and Prem are more than capable, and if you need to recall a specific moment a short little flashback or voiceover will do…you don't need to play the entire scene over. Which brings me to

4) The entire series felt like it was padding for time. My co-watcher mentioned to me that New had said that they didn't have enough material to make 12 episodes. Then why did you film 12 episodes my guy? You could have either a) shortened the series or b) pulled more from the source material which had a lot more story to offer than what was chosen to film. The novel wasn't finished at the time, sure, but Sheep had written enough at that point to delve deeper into the characters. Team's entire background was changed….for what? The novel's version made a lot more sense and would have provided a lot more insight into Team's struggle. Team's journey to therapy was just left by the wayside. I guess….who needs therapy to deal with traumatic life events anyway? There was just so much they left out/changed that could have made for a better overall series (and would have absolutely filled 12 episodes worth of relevant content). If the issue was the unfinished novel, time constraints, or lack of funding then we had already waited three years my dude. I would have had no problem waiting longer for a more polished final result.

All in all, I think BP did a fantastic job with what they were given, but they deserved a lot better. We, as an audience, deserved better. WinTeam deserved better.

I'm just left with a feeling of dissatisfaction because this series really had the potential (with all its elements) to be great and it fell so short.

Favourite character: for the longest time it was Bee but since he got a bit wet kitten near the end, it might be Tul now

Funniest character: i don't remember laughing much with this show but Tul stirring shit was appreciated..Win too

Best-looking character: ohh this show made me get Boun's appeal phew..also though i wouldn't consider Waan traditionally handsome, he brought so much charisma to the table i couldn't look away

3 favourite ships: WaanTul, WinTeam, BeePrince

Least favourite character: Prince's manager maybe? BeePrince's arc was kind of meh so the drama that came with those scenes just annoyed me more than anything

Least favourite ship: out of the four other couples, not counting parents, ig PhruekManow

Reason why I watch it: at some point the dash motivated me cause i had missed out on 4 episodes..the editing is just not it, yknow, the episodes were long and i was dreading the pointless parts.. i wanted to see WinTeam happy but for most of the show i was there for the other couples, at one point it was BeePrince, then WaanTul and i had fun with the PhruekManow crumbs; the chemistry between WinTeam (not sexual only, overall) is also a factor

Why I started watching it: there was sm hype from the fandom and so many gifs from the first two episodes lol; i hadn't/still haven't seen UWMA and thought it'd be fun to see how this one plays out for smne with nearly no context

Funniest character: again, i don't remember laughing much (i was so stressed out) but That was so cute and i found his behaviour funny..Tan was also ridiculous

3 favourite ships: TanBun, ThatSorn, Inspector M and me Dr. Oat (i'm waiting impatiently)

Least favourite character: gee, pick any of the villains and you'd prolly be correct

Least favourite ship: Tan and the kitchen..just leave it to the hottie doctor babes

Reason why I watch it: the mystery and TanBun's chemistry (and their effortless slip into a relationship lol the murder stuff just delayed the inevitable it seems)

Why I started watching it: everyone knew this show and the mystery genre is right up my alley..also MaxTul, i think i had seen twm at that point and wanted more of them

I really love how Between Us managed to use 'consent is sexy', 'actors deserve personal lives', 'homophobia is shitty', 'don't catfish people' (or, don't lie to protect people when the truth coming out will hurt more) and 'let yourself be yourself to be loved' be their central themes for all their couples and somehow made it amazing.

Also, the "actors are people who deserve private lives, and the industry is toxic and hurtful to real people" agenda? I'm here for it. I hope people are paying attention.

I finished Between Us finally! And wow, I’m glad I waited until I wasn’t in the midst of a run of shifts before watching those episodes.

I always knew I was going to enjoy it. I love WinTeam and they are tailor-made to my likes - literal sleeping together, physical affection, caretaking, hurt/comfort, nightmares, past trauma, insecurities, complicated family relationships. And yes, it lived up to my expectations! I loved watching it, I loved the expansion on Win and Team’s story, Win and his brothers were a relationship I particularly enjoyed, as well as more Win + Dean. WaanTul was a couple that I was okay with mostly and then the conflict happened and I was there for them. I found the pacing dragged in the middle of the series but I really enjoyed the relationship conflict happening end of Ep 10/beginning of Ep 11 which meant we could deal with Win’s family issues and Team and his aunt reconciling in an episode and a half rather than just squeezing it in the same episode as the relationship wrap up. I know that Team’s family situation in the novel is different (and sounds very interesting!) but I liked what they did with his parents and aunt.   

That said, there are a few things I wish they had done (taking into account actors’ schedules/timing of script/hemp rope updates). I wish they had expanded a little more of Win’s father and reconciling with his sons. Him apologising after Waan works himself so hard that he ends up in hospital felt realistic as someone who loves his children but has lost sight of that, but the forgiveness was very quick and that was it.

I would have liked to have seen more of WaanTul on the build up for their relationship, especially when the family stuff was coming up.

BeePrince was one of those very inoffensive side pairings which was sweet but the conflict of Prince being an actor and having to be in the closet didn’t feel like much of a conflict. Bee tells his friends and the entire swimming team without concern and they go out together quite a lot. I felt like they could have had a scene where they’re out together and Bee wants to hold Prince’s hand but knows he can’t, or something like that. Anything to show that while Bee is completely understanding about Prince’s career, he is also sad that he can’t shout his love to the world. I did love the parts where Prince showed how he considered his sexuality to be a burden to the people around him but then it just fizzled a little. The seeds of conflict were there but they never sprouted.

I wish we had seen more swimming competitions with other unis but I did enjoy what we did get. I would liked more scenes of Win being kind with other juniors/friends of his so we could see that Team had reason to doubt he was special to Win. I know, I know, Team’s issues, but it felt like his worry about Win treating everyone like him came out of nowhere (if you didn’t read the novel).

Just a couple of extra scenes would have made it for me, but otherwise I had a really good time with it.
