i didnt rlly like the aesthetics!! i am so iffy abt the aesthetics/visual appeal of a video (like for example, louis' wmi 3-video series: i love the story, i dont like the actual Look). and then beyond that, i rlly like story-based videos or videos w a clear idea of setting and story. like louis' walls mv, i think its hard to parse a story (but possible!!!!) but i think the setting is really cool and strong.

more than that, i feel like harry is a weird actor in mv's?? is it just me??? i feel like it's hard for him to be serious and for me to Take it seriously, but then when he's having fun i cant tell if its genuine fun or like. campy? hokey?

posting this because so many kpop comebacks/debuts have happened from the 15th to the 21st it's so crazy that I've called this week "the week of ragnorok" lmao. what's companies' obsession w/this week we'll never know

anyways, let me begin!

1. ponzona - purple kiss

purple kiss are a seven member girl group under rbw entertainment, the same company that has mamamoo, oneus and onewe. they debuted two days ago with a such a STELLAR song called ponzona. this song is them flexing their vocals and raps and i'm OBSESSED.

their ep called into violet is no skips, including pre-release singles can we talk again and my heart skip a beat. the ep mostly consists of slower songs such as can we talk again and period that showcase their vocals really well. also some upbeat, hype songs such as my heart skip a beat and skip skip are also in the ep.

these girls are so talented, so let's root for them! i see such a bright future for them.

2. killa - mirae

mirae are a seven member boy group under dsp media, the same company that kard and april are under. they debuted on the 17th with the song killa which has a sound reminiscent of nct 127's superhuman. the concept is intriguing as it's a combination of futuristic sci-fi and traditional. i'm really curious to see how they develop it in the future.

the mood of the song is something that would be included in a superhero montage the vocals are solid along with the rap, making this overall a very strong debut in my opinion.

i haven't formed solid opinions of the ep killa yet, but it is a good step forward for a rookie group and has standout tracks such as swagger which was written by bm of kard, and higher, the instrumental being used as the theme song for mirae's youtube reality show.

these boys exude such an awkward but charming atmosphere when they're together, like that's the main reason i like them. but they're also mega talented, so check them out! they really do have the full package.

3. after school - weeekly

weeekly is a seven member (what's up w/the number 7?) girl group under playm entertainment, the same company that houses victon and apink. they debuted on june 30 2020 with the song tag me, gaining attention for being a cute song amongst all the girl crush-esque concepts debuting at the time.

after school is their third comeback on the 17th and let me say that I ADORE THE STYLING. when i saw the first concept photos, it was love at first sight. i kept up with the updates just to see more of the styling and hopefully find a bop while i'm at it. AND FOUND A BOP I DID.

the mv is so bright and vibrant and has a variety of sets, making it feel like a breath of fresh air. i loved the scene where the girls were skateboarding on the rooftop 'cause it felt like i hadn't been outside in ages due to how boxed in kpop mvs feel nowadays.

the song's hook is so smooth and catchy like it lives in my head rent-free. also that reference to tag me is so cute.

the stages for this song are on point from the styling to the stage presence and the brief use of a skateboard was a nice thing to see. they're honestly such a serotonin boost, so go watch one if you haven't already. this one is my favourite.

the ep, we play, is pretty solid judging from the few times i've heard it. i haven't fully listened to it yet, but instant standout tracks are yummy, which was written by one of the members. also lucky whose instrumental reminds me of panaroma by iz*one.

3. do or not - pentagon

pentagon are a seven member boy group under cube entertainment and they're back with do or not which dropped on the 15th this song is has some rock elements much like their 2020 comeback, daisy. despite the bright visuals, do or not's lyrics are the exact opposite. they're about wanting to get over a breakup by pretending not to care, but still feeling hurt.

so far it seems like pentagon have gotten over the heartbreak and are vocal about it not controlling them anymore.

the fact that they're trying to forget the heartbreak means that the song was a whole trick. that's what people do when they don't want to acknowledge their true feelings.

the contrast of pentagon's sound and visuals to their lyrics is interesting and a reminder to not take content at face value, to always look if there's a deeper meaning.

i love the overarching sound throughout this ep, like i could hear each of these songs being featured in a coming-of-age movie (one of my favourite subsection of music lmao).

standout tracks for me are that's me, baby i love you and boy in time. the album is a satisfying listen due to its cohesion, so i recommend you check it out.

Obsession first impressions:

Full album and mv. I can’t really count my initial viewing of the mv because I lost consciousness partway through. Twice. So! In a fully awake state:

Obsession is aweome. It’s not their best title track, imo, but it’s got a cool sound and some really banging segments, so it has a lot of potential to me. It’s a little effects heavy for my taste, especially since we already know even the weakest singers exo are still good! But it’s not so bad that it’s entirely off-putting. (The I Want You is a little much. And side note, isn’t that ‘enjoy’ audio at the beginning the same from the start of Heaven? Could 9! Anywho.) I especially loved Junmyeon’s part near the end. And I like how it’s simultaneously heavy while retaining pop vibes. Omg, did anybody else get echoes of System of a Down???? Overall I’m excited for re-listens!

The mv itself is equally awesome! I love the battle segments, the colors were gorgeous. The parts that switched to daylight were a little jarring, but I imagine that was intentional? The choreo was really cool too, and I love the part where they hold themselves. And omg go Chanyeol!!!! I’m so happy for him getting the center at the beginning. 😍 The costumes were hit and miss for me, but I like that they gave us an evil exo; I think it’s a really fun addition to their ‘mythology,’ if you will. Visually it kind of felt like a blend of LMR, Love Shot, and Monster all rolled into one. ...But maybe that’s just me? Anyway, I’m so happy I finally got to watch it. I’m officially ready to re-view it on every device I have access to!! ☺️☺️☺️

Trouble didn’t really do much for me? It feels like a re-worked version of Damage. I’m not mad at it, it’s just not a favorite. But I love Jongin’s ‘goddess’ line. Kaisoo feels happening there.

Jekyll was by far the kind of song I most expected from this concept. I don’t know that I love it, but I think I appreciate this one the most, because besides Obsession it’s the most out of the box. And I love when exo goes Daring.

Groove was just that, with a wealth of high notes. Although it was interesting how it had something of...idk, island flair? But I loved osh’s segment.

Ya Ya Ya had such an unexpected beginning and end, like...what?? XD But the melody is a lot of fun, and the English segments were adorable. I think this’ll be the one that gets stuck in my head the most often.

Baby You Are is so cool! In some respects it reminds me of Trauma? With like an 80���s synth flair? But omg, Jongin, what a beautiful line, I’m so proud of him!!! 😍 And play in pitch is something I always enjoy in vocals, so this one was a lot of fun to listen to. I think I’ll have to be careful relistening though, because I can tell it’s one of those songs that if I listen to it in the wrong mood I’ll get upset. (I’m so weird.)

Non Stop had a lot of sweet instrumentation. It’s one of those pop songs that’s perfectly nice and catchy, but it’s kind of...safe? Like I could hear that song from any group. I’m not complaining, I still like it! In fact I’ll probably relisten to this one a lot.

Day After Day is nice and smooth, and the vocal layers are fantastic! It’s so gratifying when Sehun is allowed to SING! Cy’s high notes were a little awkward to me, which is unfortunate, because I know the dingus can hit them; what happened there?? It’s a lot like With You, don’t you think?

I really like Butterfly Effect! It sounds pretty close to what I imagined in my head, which I’m psyched about. Maybe a little less Soft Cell though, lol. It’s got a...idk, early millennium vibe to me. And I love when Chanyeol gets to harmonize w vocal line members!

Overall on first listen my favorite is probably either Obsession, or Baby You Are. But who knows if it’ll stay that way. There were a lot of fun jams on this album for me! Tbh the darkness of the title track is rather incongruous w the rest of the songs, but the same thing happened w Monster on Ex’Act. Maybe someday we’ll get a fully-dressed dark concept w a metal/hard rock album. (Yeah...a girl can dream though, right?) It’s still fun to enjoy the tracks individually. I think my favorite part of this album was how much more we got to hear Jongin. I hope someday the company has the balls, and he has the confidence, to give us a Kai solo album. ❤️

Addressing the elephant in the room, I definitely felt the absence of Minseok, and Kyungsoo in particular. So many songs I would’ve loved to hear him take a chorus, or do one of his signature runs or ad libs. I have to admit, as much fun as a lot of the tracks were, I probably wouldn’t have found them ‘safe’ if he had been there. And it’s not *just* an issue of playing favorites, I feel like his lower tones would’ve broken up a lot of the higher registers they went with this album. Idk, I’m *very* clearly biased for my bias, but I do like this album a lot, and I’m so glad to finally have my boys back. ❤️

so u guys go to the park for a nice quiet walk in the dead of night hhh

u had so many things to say but mostly u were worried with your relationship w him and how y’all were supposed to balance that out given his priorities with nct and you as... just a trainee...

Looking back at K-pop group SHINee’s extraordinary 10-year career

T/W: Death, suicide.

We speak to people close to the band to trace the making of six of their iconic songs over a decade of triumph and tragedy 

When SHINee debuted in 2008, K-pop looked very different to how it does today. Although a phenomenon within Asia, it was distinctively niche in the west. The industry, however, was moving forward, particularly in terms of the production quality of its music and videos, and on May 25, SHINee’s Onew, Minho, Jonghyun, Key, and youngest member Taemin (who was only 14 at the time) joined K-pop’s burgeoning ranks. Their debut was the sweet mid-tempo R&B song “Replay”, and their home was SM Entertainment, the long-standing entertainment giant who were, at the time, experiencing major success with another boy group, Super Junior. What set SHINee apart from other K-pop groups was “the harmonic trinity of fresh new sounds, their vigorous nature, and the creative visuals”, says SM’s creative director Min Hee-Jin, who has worked with the group since the beginning. Contemporary R&B has always been SHINee’s base sound, but as early as 2009 they were reaching towards sophisticated funk, lush ballads, and electronica, and would balance this exploration with the powerful, layered vocals that had became their signature. Min singles out their second album Romeo as a turning point for the group, visually as well as musically: in the video for bubbly electro-pop song “Juliette”, the members sported bright clothes and clashing accessories that accentuated their youthfulness. “The visualisation of that album reflected their identity the best,” she recalls. “I aimed to put the group’s signature colour (pearl aqua) on the map, as well as each member’s individual style.” In December last year, mere months away from their 10-year anniversary, news broke that 27-year-old Jonghyun had died by suicide. Although SHINee hadn’t released anything during that year, the members had been busy, with acclaimed solo albums by Taemin and Jonghyun, and acting gigs for Minho and Key. The gut-wrenching shock and outpouring of grief following Jonghyun’s death brought the industry to a standstill. Devastated ‘Shawols’ (a term for individuals within the group’s fandom, SHINee World) flocked to social media to try and make sense of their loss, even today leaving daily messages on Jonghyun’s Instagram posts. In the numb months that followed, Jonghyun’s already completed Poet | Artist album was released, and SHINee performed a previously scheduled Japanese concert as a farewell to their bandmate. Having been encouraged by Jonghyun’s mother to continue making music together, the four members began to pick up the pieces, eventually celebrating their 10th anniversary with a new album and a fanmeet, where Minho humbly asked for fans’ support as they moved forward with their lives. To celebrate SHINee’s 10th anniversary, we’ve looked at six of the most significant singles they released since their debut, and spoke to some of the people who helped make them what they were. “RING DING DONG”, OCTOBER 16, 2009 SHINee won several new act categories at Asian music awards in their first year, but it was the 2009, The Year Of Us EP that accelerated their trajectory. Out was the R&B of their debut single, and in was “Ring Ding Dong”s rhymically dense ‘afro-electro’ (as SM Entertainment call it). The group’s jeans and bowl cuts were replaced with aggressive red, black, and grey styling, and feathered hair. “The idea that got me started was creating a melody with a bongo sound,” says composer and lyricist Yoo Young-Jin, who wrote and arranged several of SHINee’s hits. “SHINee might have felt puzzled when they first heard it. They probably never imagined they’d receive a song in this style.” A heavily produced earworm about the shock of falling in love, “Ring Ding Dong” is unarguably a product of its musically outré time, the period (roughly 2008-2011) commonly known within the genre as ‘K-pop’s Golden Age’. The melody’s power to ingrain, however, hasn’t dimmed (it’s since been refreshed as a killer rock version, with its bongo rhythms front and centre, and as an ambitious rock/electro mashup), and the hook and dance is still so adored that Minho, Onew, and Jonghyun played it into an appearance on Korea’s Saturday Night Live in 2015. “I can’t forget when I first saw their dance practice video. Watching them perform with fire in their eyes completely captivated me,” says Yoo Young-Jin. “No matter how long the recording took, Jonghyun always sung with the same energy for the main vocals, (the) dubbing, (and) even the chorus. It was the same for Onew – he said he didn’t mind re-recording, no matter how many times he had to do so. Taemin, the youngest, but with the most ambition; Key with the special and unique charms; and Minho, who always fulfilled his role perfectly within the overall performances – it was a joy to work on their music.” “SHERLOCK”, MARCH 21, 2012 By 2012, Danish songwriter/producer Thomas Troelsen was a veteran collaborator with SM Entertainment, attracted, he says, by their “taking risks on really insane records. When I write for these guys, I try to think of it as a science-fiction project.” Following a year of shows and Japanese promotions, “Sherlock” was SHINee’s first Korean single since 2010’s winsome “Hello”; it was also K-pop’s first ever ‘hybrid remix’, seamlessly joining two album cuts (the new jack swing of “Clue” and the striding, percussive “Note”) that Troelsen also penned. The idea came from a senior A&R at SM, and the result is coy one moment and showy the next, with the harmonies on the chorus exploding as the group execute a sliding march forward, a little like an upright Russian folk dance. US choreographer Tony Testa says he tried to “create the illusion” that each of the members were “alone, retracing memories, their blurred bodies trailing behind as if trying to piece together their lives”. “It was my first experience in K-pop, but I could see they could dance well, so I brought choreography I felt would help them grow,” he adds. “They worked so hard. I think they were at a phase in their careers when they knew they had something special and really wanted to prove themselves.” The song’s complexity, and SHINee’s performance (particularly the confrontational energy live) signalled a coming of age for the band. Their metamorphosis, which had included controversially sexy teasers that shocked Shawols accustomed to seeing their idols as boyish or, at most, slightly outlandish, was timely – a new generation of idols, including labelmates EXO, were arriving to steal old crowns. “Sherlock”, however, allowed SHINee to step into a sphere that was entirely their own. “EVERYBODY”, OCTOBER 14, 2013 “We show something new with every release,” Onew told The Korea Times in 2012. “Initially, we can feel a bit awkward (in the new shoes), but then we fill them.” Around this time, K-pop songs were frequently incorporating dubstep but, rather than emulate others, “Everybody” juxtaposed SHINee’s melodic sensibilities with the grinding wub-wub of ‘complextro’ (complex electro). “The first time I heard the song, it reminded me of being a kid,” says Tony Testa. “The odd mechanical sounds were like (the) wind-up teeth and action figures I used to play with.” His childhood memories formed the backbone of the song’s choreography and influenced the video’s concept, in which Minho ‘winds up’ the members, dressed as toy soldiers. The “go-go gadget helicopter” move is a stand out for Testa, particularly live – he says he was “continually amending the dance because the track went through so many changes.” It’s also a tribute to the producers’ considerate touch, and SHINee’s vocal strength, that despite the pressing weight of complextro’s hallmarks, it holds a carefree lightness to match its breezy lyrics. “‘Everybody’ would have never worked in Europe – never ever,” says Thomas Troelsen, unwittingly pinpointing why so many westerners, hungry for new approaches to pop, often fall for K-pop. It sounds like nothing else from that era (nor would SHINee make another song like it), but as a benchmark for K-pop’s audaciousness and SHINee’s chameleonic allure, “Everybody” is unforgettable. “VIEW”, MAY 18, 2015 Before British writers/producers Greg Bonnick and Hayden Chapman, aka LDN Noise, made a mark with some of K-pop’s biggest songs (including EXO’s “Monster” and Red Velvet’s “Dumb Dumb”), they were obsessed with SHINee’s “Sherlock”. “(It) was a song and MV we really fell in love with on discovering K-pop – the vocals, the styling, everything,” says Bonnick. When it came to writing “View”, their first credit for SHINee, he says they “wanted to create something fresh rather than trying to do what K-pop had already done. ​We were vibing in the studio and once it started coming together on the topline and production, it was one of the quickest turnarounds from writing a song to it actually coming out​.” The ease with which SHINee’s vocals carry the understated instrumental is remarkable; Jonghyun’s graceful lyrics float high and strong above the cyclical bass, while members double up on lines of verse for extra colour and bring an endearing playfulness to the ad-libs. The faithful adoption of deep house influences eliminates K-pop’s showstopping choruses, but gives the track a lean, elastic quality. The video’s depiction of youthful, summery freedom also broke new ground for SHINee, with Thailand’s back streets replacing the glossy soundstages of their previous videos. As much as K-pop’s ingrained rigidity allowed for, it was naturalistic and intimate, helping make “View” a pronounced and successful change of sound and visual identity. “TELL ME WHAT TO DO”, NOVEMBER 16, 2016 “Tell Me What To Do” began life penned by Americans, including the Grammy-nominated Mike Daley and Grammy-winning Dewain Whitmore Jr, before being rearranged by Yoo Young-Jin. “I vividly remember we changed melody and the lyrics in the hook so many times that I lost count,” says Yoo. “Normally, we modify it once or twice.” SHINee ended up recording it “five or six times”. The track’s magnificent ruse is that for all the lightness of its dance-orientated sound, its true nature is saturated in melancholy and pain. “When you think of breaking up with a loved one, you regard it as the end,” says Yoo. “However, it could be seen as a desperation to bring attention to fading love. It’s such a bitter thing to happen, where fluttering love turns into something that’s just common, like air.” Opened and closed by Taemin, who shifts its tone from questioning to resignation, the story’s depth comes via the back-to-back rap sections (Minho’s is rough and self-realising, Key’s rhythmic and retrospective), and Onew and Jonghyun, two of K-pop’s most distinctive voices, suffuse it with compelling, powerful emotion. “Tell Me What To Do” was SHINee’s last single with five members. The raw, unhampered ache in Jonghyun’s voice makes it a hard listen in 2018, but its dark flame is a poignant reminder that for all the slick moves, unnatural hair colours, and fantastical MVs, SHINee’s greatest strength is music that profoundly resonates with listeners. “GOOD EVENING”, MAY 28, 2018 In late April, the question hanging over whether SHINee would continue as a group was answered as they emerged united for their 10th anniversary with a trilogy of episodic EPs called The Story of Light. “Good Evening”, the first of three lead singles, had its house-driven lead track “already done but (with) no melody,” says US singer/songwriter Bryan Jackson. “And that’s where I came in.” Jackson used elements from 90s R&B group 112’s “Cupid” in the track and worked alongside writers/producers The Fliptones to complete it. “I think the song’s a perfect fit given the heartbreak they went through. It’s about not just loving yourself, but loving others and being a light for those in the dark.” Replacing the synchronisation they’re renowned for, Japanese choreographer Koharu Sugawara portrayed SHINee’s deep emotional bond through loose moves, which she says allowed them to “present their own unique interpretation” of her initial instructions. Their eyes avoid the cameras, and the group dance facing one another more than the audience, stemming from a desire to create a “dance that expresses a sense of love”, where “the way the members conversed with one another showed what love is”. “I wanted SHINee dancing towards ‘SHINee’, I wanted it to be a ‘conversation’,” says Koharu. The music video alludes to Jonghyun’s absence (the third single would be dedicated to him), but “Good Evening”, while delicate, is not encumbered by the grief that precedes it. Rather, SHINee make it nimble and airy, an elegant display of strength and the tying together of old sounds and new. But ultimately it’s so much more – a celebration of life and the closing and opening of chapters, its existence an affirmation of all five members’ talent and ambition, their journey, and the hard work undertaken to rise, succeed, and forever be SHINee.

I think it’s really bad that Seventeen was Pledis’s last hope and that that got out and people felt bad for them and felt like 17 just had to be popular or everything would fall apart including After School and Nu’Est…. like yes that would have happened but jesus that’s terrible??? terrible??? no one really talks abotu that anymore but that was a very real circumstance surrounding their debut ! these are not in any order, but imma try and explain my dumb/not appreciated opinion for each one. i don’t listen to a lot outside of my mains, but i won’t list 10 BTS songs dw <3

Intro: Serendipity | BTS

it’s serene. the softness of jimin’s voice just soothes me. the build and the depth to this song is incredible, and it’s a great intro to their album. idk it’s just nice to hear jimin’s voice in this nature, when he’s not belting out those big high notes. it’s shows a new but nice quality to his voice.

Don’t Wanna Cry | SEVENTEEN

this is a song for the bloody a g e s. even my non kpop friend adores this song. there is no surprise that this song is on the list. i think it just fills my entire being when i watch the choreo or listen to the song. it’s a masterpiece - hands down. if u feel attacked by the mingyu x wonwoo attack, i feel u.

YESTERDAY | Block B

a pure underrated bop by a pure underrated group. some people this ‘cutesy’ fun cb didn’t fit their image, but i disagree. it shows their silly and funny side, bc they are bunch of dorks. and i always flip the fuck out in P.O’s verse lmao.

Teenager | GOT7

i am going to be honest w y’all, nothing that GOT7 had come out w truly gets me like the flight log: departure era. it is one of my favourite kpop albums of all time. so their latest comeback was SUCH a good thing. this song is just fun, flowy and the “i will do anything if u tell me good boy” is one of the most life ruining things that has ever come out of kim yugyeom’s mouth. one of my fave comebacks last year !!!

Easy Love | SF9

i stil retain that SF9 are the best rookie group out there at the moment (if they’re still classed as one? idk anymore). i loved all of the title songs they did in 2017 and i struggled between this one and ROAR tbh. there are no visual, vocal or rapping holes in this group. they’re phenomenal. just listen to the chorus of this song and tell me otherwise? also zuho’s rap at the bridge makes mE FREAK.

Our Tears | Hyolyn

this song is plain beautiful. it does give me hwarang flashbacks, but this song is just b e a u t i f u l. hyolyn has one of the most incredible voices i have ever heard. i have tried covering this many times, but i could never sing like her. i have no more words, this song is just amazing.

i had a hard time picking between this ‘bullshit’ but this one moves me every time i goddamn hear it. this is a new side i am not used to w GD’s solo stuff. it’s gorgeous. i don’t know why but every time the chorus hits, i feel like my heart is being pulled out of my chest. it’s beautiful, but so melancholy. what an incredible artist he is.

MY I | SEVENTEEN

okay the mv and the dance are both incredible, but this song is genuinely outstanding it’s also damn sexy. i actually prefer the Chinese ver, and not bc i am repping the chinaline for the sake of it, it’s actually more pleasing on the ears. SVT does such a good job of showcasing all their members’ abilities, esp w all the unit stuff. but i love the build of this song and the background, it strips it all down and that is what makes it sO sexy.

Beautiful | MONSTA X

oh LOOK. another masterpiece. this is one of my favourite mx albums, alongside the clan pt 2 for me. i literally cannot fault this song if i tried, along with most of their songs. i loved dramarama and shine forever, but this is my fave. it’s that perfect mix of hype and sultry, that damn chorus will kill me kihyun. also the most iconic bit of choreo with the arm thingy after the first chorus. incredible. stan talent. i am beyond words that they got their first win too, what lovely ppl.

ANTI | Zico (feat. G.Soul)

idontunderstand okay so i had a hard time picking between this and artist tbf. but omg the whole atmosphere of this song gets me. the breakdown before g.soul’s final chorus gets me hype. zico is just a genius when it comes to produces and i adore everything that he releases. she’s a baby and artist were basically on this list as well. so zico is my fave solo artist, hands fucking down.

Crazy, Sexy, Cool | ASTRO

tbh, i kind of fell out of love w ASTRO and idk why?? i just hadn’t been as mad obsessed w them. then they released this bop, and i am riding the hype train again. ASTRO has some of the best choreo ever which says a lot in an industry where pretty much everybody is great at dancing. i also feel very much offended by jinjin’s rap??? no thanks. opting out. they have just matured so much. 

전야 前夜 The Eve | EXO

okay, this is one of my top EXO songs for sure. it’s not my fave EXO album, but this song was worth me buying it tbh. it’s sexy as hell. it’s like a lighter artificial love and it fucks me up? also the vocals are smooth anD WHEN THE GODDAMN CHORUS HITS and suddenly 9 men have spread their legs all at once. we’re all screwed. they’ve taken over. also, always a fan of do kyungsoo’s adlbs.

I will go to you like the first snow | AILEE

okay i know she is a legend, but i have never really sat down and listened to her stuff (bad ik). but when i listened to the Goblin soundtrack, this damn song slapped me so hard in the face. her voice is outstanding. i also remember the amount of times Goblin ripped out my dumb heart and stepped all over it. anyway, i think this song is powerful and so is ailee tbh. the ending where she hits those notes, my wig flies. 

봄날 Spring Day | BTS

choosing only 2 BTS songs is a bloody feat. i bought this repackage SO fast wow, and this is definitely one of my fave BTS comebacks. ngl, i prefer it over DNA (although it will take a lot of effort for them to release a terrible song). this song and video are gorgeous. this was just such a fantastic era and time for BTS and this song makes my whole heart flutter like a 14y/o girl. 

Beautiful | Crush

okay yeah soz it’s another song from Goblin’s OST but i am viewing the songs individually, not because the show alone. anyway, i had no idea this was Crush. since i only knew him from ‘bermuda triangle’ (which is such a fucking bop) so i assumed he couldn’t  possiblyhave this sweet, angelic voice. spoiler - i was wrong. this song fills me with such emotion.

DARLING | Taeyang

honestly this man could punch me in the face and i would apologise. this song has mad “eyes,nose,lips” vibes but it’s so good. i loved this entire album, but ‘darling’ caught my heart (how gay is that). his voice is incredible but u can be assured i belt this song at full volume whenever it hits even at 10:30pm when i am writing this. i will always rep the BIGBANG bois, and i am glad this was the last album he decided to make before he went to the military.

What U do? | EXO

i had a hard time choosing between this and boomerang. but, this remains one of the standouts of the album. the chorus and entire song are so goddamn catchy, and similar to taeyang’s entry, i have a hard time not singing this aloud. i normally play this song after i leave the house at 7:30 in the morning to try and motivate me. i  just want to jump around like a doofus, and i love exo songs that do that.

Want to hear my sad truth about “hit” I didn’t even know the mv was released until like 3 hours ago.. even though I was seeing gif sets for the video I was just like ‘damn they sure got a lot of content from the teasers’ 😂 I felt so stupid because how did I even miss it and then let alone for 2 days?!

I’m not sure how I feel about the song. Like overall I like the lyrics and choreography & the visuals from the music video but I’m not sure how I feel about the song itself. I think I like it, but I also think the song is almost too busy. Granted I’ve only listened to it once & it will probably become a new favorite song of mine in a few days when it’s randomly stuck in my head but right now it’s one of those songs that’s on my playlist but I don’t purposely play that song (I don’t skip it either but I don’t go hey lets play ‘hit’) (Also I’m still kinda in love with getting closer & I’m not sure why I’m so obsessed with that song)
