“HOLY SHIT, MING-XIONG!” Qingxuan yelled jumping up from the couch. “CELINE IS ON THE FUCKING EIFLE TOWER!!!”

“... didn’t you say this would happen hours ago?” Ming Yi replied, shovelling more popcorn into his mouth.

“I was joking then… but this, this…” Qingxuan stood staring at the TV while the Canadian goddess sang her heart out; eyes glazing over with tears as he watched the performance of a lifetime. He never blinked once during the full performance.

When the performance ended, Qingxuan fell back into Ming Yi’s lap, who just sighed as he patted his sobbing boyfriends’s head mumbling “Too cute–”

“He-xiong?” Their voice dipped now, quiet and melodic as they crept closer to the bed. Without even an ounce of hesitation, they settled right back into the spot they’d vacated only an hour ago. “He-xiong, are you still sleeping?”

“Shut up,” He Xuan grumbled, the reply tumbling from him instinctively when he should have stayed silent. Shit. Maybe he’d get lucky. Maybe they hadn’t heard him.

But because life fucking hated him, He Xuan practically felt Shi Qingxuan perk up in excitement at the sound of his muffled reply. They scooted closer, and he tightened his grip on the blanket just before they could tug it down.

“He-xiong!” they chided, and he could perfectly visualize their pout. Brows furrowed, lips puckered, green eyes gleaming with faux indignation.  

He Xuan’s mouth twitched at the mental image. Dammit. Their fault, of course. Maybe if they weren’t so stupidly expressive, then He Xuan wouldn’t be plagued by visions of their face even with his eyes closed.

“Get out,” he mumbled loud enough now to make sure they heard him.

It’s no surprise that when Feng Xin shoots up, feeling his lungs constrict and grow weak as he shakes with coughs, that a singular flower petal comes out onto his hand. He stares at it. Because, despite the implications, despite how he is willing to die and could die from the pure, unbridled love he holds within his chest, Feng Xin knows that Mu Qing will never love him back. OR: Modern!AU in which Feng Xin has hanahaki.

Revenge is Sweet, Literally

He Xuan had been writing in his diary. He was still planning the perfect revenge plot for the Shi brothers. He’s considered murder more times than not, but something is stopping him. Whether it be fate or Hua Cheng's nagging (he only said it once, but still), he considered other options. With the knowledge that Shi Qingxuan knows nothing of the fate swap, he doesn’t have anything better to do. Then Hua Cheng called him via the spiritual communication array. Zoning back in, He Xuan hears Hua Cheng say something that he normally wouldn’t care for. “... Of course, I wouldn’t dare defile His Highness, but to think…” He Xuan doesn’t care for that- Heaven, he doesn’t even know the context or what he says after, but he suddenly stands up and slams his hands on the table so hard that his bonefish look back at him. And then, he writes. OR: He Xuan, after some thinking, comes up with the perfect revenge plan to anger Shi Wudu.

“Okay, let’s start from the beginning. What makes you think you’ve, er… friend-zoned yourself with He Xuan?”

“Isn’t it obvious?” Shi Qingxuan frowned at him, but Xie Lian only maintained that good-natured, slightly forced smile of his instead of agreeing. She huffed, “All I do is call myself her bestie! Sure, she insists that we’re not friends, but she’s always done that! Obviously, she sees me as her friend! Which would be great and all if I wasn’t completely in love with her!”

“I see. And that’s why you think you’re in the friend-zone?” Xie Lian repeated, a little dubious. “Because you put yourself there by always calling yourself her best friend?”

Shi Qingxuan nodded rapidly, relieved that her friend had finally caught on to her struggles. Now they could move on to the fixing it portion of the afternoon. “Yes! It’s all my fault, and now I don’t know what to do about it! That’s where you come in! Help me come up with a plan to claw my way out of the friend-zone and get myself a girlfriend!”

ahhh ty for the ask!!

I'm sure you already knew that I'm completely insane about Fengqing 🤣 I see them in everything and to date they are the ship I have written the most for!! Which is crazy because I feel they're also quite difficult to write - I spend way more time agonizing over characterization with them than I ever have before lol.

Honestly I probably should have checked "they're exes" and "inherent eroticism of attempted murder" too, since I can totally imagine AUs of those - I just generally hc that they're too emotionally stunted to have gotten together before post-canon, and also that they've never genuinely tried to kill each other!

As for Beefleaf, it's a ship I passively really like, but I haven't read more than a couple fics for them, and I probably couldn't write for them since they haven't taken over my entire brain like Fengqing lol.

The "very specific scenarios" is because I feel like I'm pretty picky about how their gender fuckery is portrayed and also about the angst level (100% fluff takes away the appeal but also I can't handle 100% angst so it's a fine balance lmao). Aesthetically they have some of the BEST fanart though!
