Hi,
I know that you don't really focus on food or anything, but I was curious if you had any recipes for stuff you really enjoy that are typical to your country/home?
I've been browsing some wikipedia pages on pastries and dishes lately and I wanted to try making something, but I couldn't find it in me to choose from the almost infinite selection of things, so I thought asking my mutual from another part of the world may be a good idea :)
You can just give a name of something you feel is worth trying if you don't know/don't have the time/don't want to share a recipe, but I'd love to get a recommendation or two!
Hi! Yes, of course I'll tell you some of my fave dishes that I think are fairly easy to make (I mean, not that I cook, my specialty is putting frozen stuff in the oven or boiling something so yeah lmao). I'll drop some recipes I found in English for you, cannot vouch for them personally (again, since I can practically burn water), but maybe they're a useful jumping off point for you!
Chocotorta: This is the best cake/dessert in the world and it really is the stupidest thing to make. You need to get your hands on some dulce de leche, which I don't know how difficult that can be, but you get that, you get some cream cheese (that recipe says soft cheese? pretty sure that's not the same, get cream cheese, lmao), and you get whatever cookie can replace our chocolinas (basically any squareish, flat chocolate cookie). Then you mix the dulce de leche with the cream cheese until you get a light brownish mixture. You're gonna lightly soak the cookies in some milk or coffee (lightly, so they don't break), then you're gonna make a bed of them on a baking tray. Put a layer of the mixture on top of that, then another layer of cookies, then more mixture, etc etc. Then you chill, and ta-dah! You can leave it like that, fancy it up a bit, but that's the important part.
Pastel de papa (potato and ground beef pie): A really delicious dish, basically a pie or casserole made with mashed potatoes and ground beef all seasoned and with extra ingredients to make it really yummy. I leave you a recipe in english and one in spanish.
Empanadas: I mean, that's the classic! Basically our version of the 'food-encased-in-dough' staple across the globe. The traditional version is, again, with ground beef, but you can really put anything in there (other typical variants include ham and cheese, onion and cheese, corn paste, etc). IMPORTANT: If the recipe says use raisins for the filling, IGNORE IT, trust me, every good argentine will thank you (Personally I'd take out the olives too, but if you're my grandma I NEVER SAID THAT I LOVE RAISINS AND OLIVES NANA).
Milanesa napolitana: Another big fave, this is our breaded steak (usually fried, but it can go in the oven, it just takes longer), with added tomato sauce and cheese on top and it's delicious. Serve with fries or mashed potatoes for the perfect combo.
I hope that helps, let me know if you ever make some of these! Bone app the teeth! (and everyone else, feel free to drop some good argentinian recipes!)
#you really DID ask the worst person possible djfhdfkj i wish i could have pointed you in the direction of trusted recipes#but yeah i dont cook lmao. but loking over the ingredients they don't look bad so they should work!#(plus lets be honest theyre not complicated recipes so you should be fine!)#hopefully youre not vegan cause this is very much a meat-based recipe country lmao#argentina#juli answers#sorry if i rambled but whats a recipe post without some inane tangent lmao

La Qchara Vs La Cabaña: A Battle of Latin American Cuisine
In the fast paced food truck environment in Melrose, Massachusetts, two Latin American food trucks stand out: La Qchara and La Cabaña. While both offer authentic tastes and experiences, they both have their curved authentic niche from different parts of South America. La Qchara derives from traditional homemade recipes from Central and South America with a large online presence, while La Cabaña specializes in Mexican and Salvadorian dishes, as a smaller, family-owned business. Here is how these food trucks compare in food, marketing, service, all while both should have a prioritized spot on your next food truck experience.
A Culinary Showdown
La Qchara is a blend of Central and South American specialities with a twist of modern tradition. For instance, their famous gluten free arepas, home-made with stuffed corn-meal cakes filled with an abundance of freshly prepared ingredients: Venezuelan seasoned shredded beef, cilantro lime shredded chicken, chorizo, queso, sesame dressing, and much more. These Arepas range from $7-$15 dollars depending on filling. These cuisines are appealing to foodies who wish for hearty, bold and innovative flavors. As someone who is always looking for an allergen friendly restaurant, I tried Reina Pepiada Arepa which is served with cilantro lime avocado chicken, with a house salad topped with homemade sesame dressing. This cuisine comes in at $12.95 which is reasonably priced for the large portions you receive. This fluffy, rich cuisine fulfilled a craving I didn’t know I had. This cuisine and many of their other menu items are perfect for people with allergies who worry about being given an unsafe item. La Qchara has homemade coffee, smoothies, raw juices, teas and refreshing traditional Mexican drinks, desserts like churros, pie, lemon bread, and many more. Every dish at La Qchara seems to embrace a unique balance of traditional ingredients with a fresh twist, catering to those who enjoy Latin flavors but with a gourmet touch.
In contrast, La Cabaña shares authentic Salvadorian street tacos, quesadillas, bowls, and even houses American traditional cuisines such as wings and burgers. There is a rich, comforting feel to the menu due to the array of traditional items from different parts of the world. La Cabaña shares some allergen friendly ingredients as many of their tortillas, pupusas, and sauces are gluten and dairy free. They take accommodations, but are not able to honor all dietary and other requests. I tried the Carne Asada Plate starting at $20 which holds a refreshingly simple, yet flavorful skirt steak with cheese, beans, guacamole, and scallions. As this is a more pricey item, there are additional items that are more budget friendly if you are looking for quick, tasteful, and authentic meals. If you are looking for a quick, cheaper option they have their homemade tacos starting at $5 dollars each offering ingredients like grilled steak, chicken, guacamole, and a choice of your own spice. If you are looking for a more hearty American cuisine they offer their famous “Big Al” which is made with lettuce, tomato, cheese, pineapple, raw onions, jalapenos, sausage, and even ham. Lastly, to fully embark the true home style feels, there is a family taco option which comes in at $55 for 12 tacos of any meat of your choice, where you can order different meats to fulfill the full 12 tacos. La Cabaña’s approach to flavor is straightforward and soulful, staying close to traditional recipes. It’s evident that their goal is to preserve and celebrate the classics, and for those craving Mexican or Salvadorian comfort food, La Cabaña hits the mark every time.
Scenic Experience
La Qchara’s atmosphere is as bold as its menu. The truck is enhanced through their old wooden grained spoon graphic stemming from the meaning of their truck which in spanish “La Qchara” means “Large serving spoon” which stays true to the truck's values of hearty, authentic meals. On the side of the bright, fire truck red mobile vehicle is “La Qchara” written in an old Latin American font. Underneath the large text is written “El Nuevo Latino” referring to a modern twist on traditional latin cuisine and identity.
All age groups are drawn by the truck’s popular Instagram and website, lingering around snapping photos and chatting. The double ordering windows surrounded with beautiful stainless steel and welcoming faces creates La Qchara’s key identity. The truck’s sleek, modern feel, combined with its active social media presence, makes La Qchara a favorite for those who seek a lively, contemporary dining experience. La Qchara is filled with a welcoming online presence with the owners, employees, and customers interacting online through TikTok, fun videos, trends, and glamourize visual presentation of eating their amazing cuisines.
When walking up to the food truck you will be greeted by a friendly, outgoing employee who is fully prepared to educate you on each menu item. If you are lucky enough to be visiting at the same time as owners Emily and Lorenzo Tenreiro who will gladly speak about their story and values around their business.
La Qchara’s food truck offers catering services for your individual needs. Not only is the truck available for private booking, but you can also find them at popular outdoor venues and events located in Salem, Beverly, and Melrose Massachusetts.
La Cabaña, meanwhile, is a small, more private scene located in the heart of Melrose, Massachusetts. The setup feels more intimate and welcoming from all aspects due to their graphics on the truck housing many traditional cuisines from worldwide. The logo is a small cottage style house with “La Cabaña” written in an old style cursive as if your grandparents had written you a letter and signed it in their handwriting. The graphics of the truck encase a coffee brown color which is weaved through wooden panels with a clay tile roof in a mimic of a cottage home.
It’s a quieter experience than La Qchara, providing an ideal space for anyone who prefers a laid-back meal with friends or family. The translation of their name means “At the Cottage” which is engulfed in the ambiance, and feels like an extension of its close-knit, family-run nature, offering customers a taste of home.
You can find this warm welcoming food truck stationed in Melrose with the hours of 11am-6pm Mondays and Tuesdays and Wednesday through Saturday 11am-8pm. They also do local public events in Melrose Ma, and can be booked for private events as well.
La Qchara and La Cabaña both embrace their own traditional Latin American cuisines in very different styles. Each is a great option if you are looking for a quality meal served from loving and welcoming staff.

Authentic Argentinian Empanadas | The Empanada's King
A Culinary Journey Through the History
Argentinian empanadas are more than just a simple snack; they are a tradition that reflects the rich history and culture of Argentina. This delicious dish has its roots in colonial times, with influences from Spanish cuisine and indigenous techniques. Over the centuries, Argentinian empanadas have evolved, becoming an icon of the national cuisine. Each region of Argentina has added its own touch and variations
The Origin and Evolution
The history of Argentinian empanadas begins with the arrival of Spanish colonizers in the 16th century. They brought with them the tradition of the empanada, a dish that was already popular in Spain and dates back to Moorish times. In Argentina, empanadas adapted to local ingredients and indigenous culinary traditions. Beef, which became a staple of Argentine cuisine, replaced other types of meat, and local
Authentic Ingredients
The magic of Argentinian empanadas lies in the quality of their ingredients and the variety of their fillings. From the classic beef empanada, with a juicy filling of beef, onion, egg, and olives, to more creative versions with chicken, ham and cheese, or even spinach for vegetarians. The dough, made with flour, water, and fat, is the secret to achieving a crispy and golden texture
The basic ingredients for a traditional beef empanada include high-quality beef, onion, hard-boiled egg, olives, and a mix of spices such as cumin, sweet paprika, and chili powder. However, there are countless regional and family variations, each with its own unique combination of ingredients
Regions and Their variations
Each region of Argentina has its own version of the empanada, and each one is worth exploring. Tucumán empanadas, for example, are famous for their juiciness and intense flavor, while Salteña empanadas tend to be spicier and contain potatoes in the filling. Mendoza empanadas are known for their knife-cut beef filling, which gives them a uniq
Traditional Argentinian Empanadas

2 hard-boiled eggs,
Green olives, slic

Empanada dough (available at supermarkets
Preparation
Cook the Filling: In a large skillet, sauté the onion until golden. Add the beef and cook until well done. Add the spices and mix well.
Add Eggs and Olives: Incorporate the chopped hard-boiled eggs and sliced olives. Mix and let cool.
Fill the Empanadas: Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with a fork or by crimping.
Bake: Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Place the empanadas on a baking sheet and bake until golden, about 20 minutes.
Variations and Creativity in the Kitchen
In addition to traditional empanadas, creativity in Argentine cuisine has led to many other variations. Chicken empanadas, for example, are a delicious and popular alternative. They are prepared similarly to beef empanadas but with shredded chicken and a mix of vegetables such as bell peppers and carrots.
Ham and cheese empanadas are another favorite option, especially among children. The filling of ham, cheese, and a pinch of oregano perfectly combines with the crispy dough. For vegetarians, spinach and cheese empanadas are a healthy and delicious choice. Fresh spinach, combined with ricotta cheese and spices, makes these empanadas light and flavorful.
Fried vs. Baked Empanadas
In Argentina, empanadas can be cooked in two main ways: fried or baked. Fried empanadas, typical of the northern region, have a crispy texture and an irresistible flavor. They are fried in fat or oil until golden and served hot. Baked empanadas, on the other hand, are more common in the central and southern regions of the country. They are cooked in the oven until the dough is golden and crispy. Both versions are delicious, each with its own charm.
Argentinian Empanadas Around the World
The popularity of Argentinian empanadas has crossed borders. Nowadays, it is common to find restaurants and food trucks offering this delicacy in cities around the world. Each bite is an invitation to explore Argentina's rich culinary heritage. In countries such as the United States, Spain, and Australia, Argentinian empanadas have earned a prominent place in the culinary scene, thanks to their unmistakable flavor and versatility.
The Importance of Empanadas in Argentine Culture
In Argentina, empanadas are not just food; they are an integral part of the culture and social life. Empanadas are enjoyed at family gatherings, celebrations, and parties. They are a popular picnic food and a perfect appetizer for any occasion. In many families, the preparation of empanadas is a tradition passed down from generation to generation, with secret recipes and special techniques to make the best crimping.
Tips for Making the Best Empanadas
If you want to make Argentinian empanadas at home, here are some tips to ensure they are perfect:
Fresh Ingredients: Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the filling.
Rest the Dough: Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using it. This will make it easier to work with and crispier when baked.
Don't Overfill: Don't put too much filling in each empanada. This can make it difficult to close them and cause them to open during cooking.
Firm Crimping: Make sure to seal the edges well. You can use a fork to press the edges or do the traditional crimping with your fingers.
Oven Temperature: Preheat the oven and make sure it is well heated before placing the empanadas. This will help them cook evenly and turn golden.

Emilio Moro Legacy Wine Dinner at Mirèio in Raffles Makati
Raffles Makati Hotel had a special collaboration with Spanish wine producer Bodegas Emilio Moro last November 8, 2023 for an exquisite one-night only wine pairing dinner in celebration of Emilio Moro's legacy. The event brought together the esteemed century-old traditions of both institutions to create a very memorable dining experience for the guests.
The extraordinary wine dinner was held at Mirèio, Raffles Makati's elegant brasserie-style restaurant on the 9th floor that has been serving authentic Provençal and French-inspired cuisine since it opened its doors in 2016. The Hungry Kat was invited to be one of the few participants of this limited private dining event so we were happy to be back once again at our favorite luxury hotel in the country.
The Raffles Salon is a private VIP dining room in Mirèio that comes with is own separate entrance. This is actually where we had our very intimate civil wedding reception in 2020 when the pandemic restrictions were still in place, so we have a lot of cherished memories right here.
Emilio Moro is an award-winning winery from the Ribera del Duero region of Spain whose accolades include appearing on the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines as well as getting consistent 90+ ratings from industry-leading publications. The legacy of Bodegas Emilio Moro spans over three generations to Emilio Moro Sr.’s humble beginnings in Pesquera de Duero.
It was the 4th generation, José and Javier Moro, who chose to begin distributing the bottles of the family’s unique clone of Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) by investing in a wine press in 1987 and in 1988, purchasing a cellar to create the winery that now boasts 200 hectares of vines. Emilio Moro winery today is one of the most prominent and beloved in all of Spain, and its philosophy rests on the three pillars of tradition, innovation, and social responsibility.
Over 100 years of winemaking tradition in the Moro family has built what we know today as Bodegas Emilio Moro. The close contact with the land, the knowledge acquired over generations and the deep love and respect for wine are reflected in every glass, in every bottle, in every toast.
I was excited to try some of their signature wines which are now available in the Philippines. Raffles Makati’s culinary team has curated an exceptional 6-course dinner paired with Emilio Moro wines to highlight their distinct and bold flavors.
We started with the EI Zarzal Godello 2019, a light and refreshing white wine that is good to sip any time of the day.
This was paired with our first appetizer course, the Citrus Tiger Prawns Salad combined with mesclun greens, fresh citrus fruits and peach vinaigrette.
Our next course was the Red Bell Pepper Veloute, a rich and thick broth that comes with Iberico ham cromesqui. This was paired with the La Revelia Godello 2018, a sophisticated, structured and complex white wine with a bit of a spiice.
The Saffron Risotto was our delicious third course. This creamy risotto comes with sauteed Chorizo Pamplona and topped with 36-month old Manchego cheese.
This was served with the Emilio Moro 2019, Bodegas Emilio Moro’s flagship wine that represents character and tradition. It carries the name of the creator and is the inspiration of the winery.
All our courses were meticulously prepared by the Raffles Makati culinary team led by Raffles Makati Executive Chef Béla Rieck and and expertly served by their staff and restaurant manager.
The first of our two main courses was the Pistachio Crusted French Bresse Chicken with grilled vegetables and Madeira sauce. I loved how the dark Madeira sauce complemented the tender chicken.
We also had our second red wine, the Vendimia Seleccionada 2019 which was created with the grapes from the Camino Viejo plot. It aims to retrace and honour the history and tradition of Bodegas Emilio Moro.
We then had our second main course, the In Tempranillo Slow Braised Australian Angus Beef served with roasted root vegetables, melted tomato and creamy polenta. This was a masterpiece with its very tender beef plated like an artwork.
To highlight our main course ever further, guests were presented with two different bottles of Malleolus Valderramiro 2018 and 2014. Planted in 1924, the famous Pago de Valderramiro vineyard brings this wine of purest Tinto Fino character with all its power, structure and intensity.
Both red wines were served at the same time to show us the difference of the intensity and flavors between the younger and the older bottle. The 2014 had a darker and stronger flavor so it really depends on your own preference.
We ended with the Tonka Bean Crème Brulee with red wine ice as our lovely dessert. The Emilio Moro Legacy Wine Dinner is a perfect way to experience the history and offerings of both Raffles Makati and the Emilio Moro winery in one exclusive event. We would like to thank Raffles Makati and Mike Sagaran for letting us join this unique wine pairing dinner.

Week 1: Empanadas, Unapologetic Staring, and Awesome People
I have almost spent a full week in Buenos Aires, and life is absolutely wonderful right now. The city is always alive, whether with people hustling to work or young adults laughing on the streets at four in the morning. There is always something to do in Buenos Aires, and I've really enjoyed having my entire day packed with people and activities. However, it took a little bit of time to adjust to the cultural differences of Buenos Aires. Although I am sure I will keep discovering new differences throughout the next six weeks, there are still many things and actions that felt uncomfortable at first. The most prominent shock was the amount of staring. In the United States, at least in my personal experience, most people are taught in schools and throughout their childhood that it is rude to stare at other people, even if they may look different. However, people are so apparent with their scrutinization, failing to even attempt to conceal their curiosity (or even distaste). Though I tried to ignore it, I was always offended by their adamant stares, and it made me self-conscious about going out in public. After a few days of embracing the sideways glances and outright dirty looks, I feel as if I've grown accustomed to this new cultural reality. It may not be ideal, but I've learned that not everyone is raised the same way I was, and it is important to be aware of these differences.
There were also so many amazing things that have come from this trip so far. I can't talk about the best parts of Buenos Aires without mentioning the food. I've tried many traditional Argentine dishes including milonesa, medialunas, alfajores with dulce de leche, and more. However, I'd have to say my favorite would be the empanadas. They have so much variety, as it can be filled by beef, chicken, ham and cheese, or vegetables. There is a tiny empanada store right down the street of where my homestay is, and it sells the most delicious empanadas I have eaten. The best part is the price, though. My roommates and I bought a dozen empanadas for $5 USD! I can try so many dishes here in Buenos Aires and visit so many different cafes because the food is so much cheaper than in the United States.
The foodie part of me says that affordable dining is the best part about the city, but I can't brush off the amazing relationships I've made in the short time I've spent in Buenos Aires. I recently got my nails done at the salon across the street from my homestay, and I met the most wonderful people. Maria, my new nail tech, was the sweetest woman ever, and she was so patient with how I was practicing my Spanish. She even went out of her way to give us mini grammar lessons while she was doing my nails, and I can confidently say that my Spanish has improved exponentially since being here. All of the workers gave us so many recommendations for the best restaurants, nightlife locations, and mate types. They were so welcoming, and I really value the friendship I made with them. In addition to the workers in the nail salon, I've really bonded with the other study abroad students. My roommates and I have gotten really close throughout our time living together, and I love hanging out with them. We even decided to get a gym membership together, so we could all workout everyday. The workers at the gym, SmartFit, are all so supportive and sweet. They always get so excited to see us, and it is such a welcoming environment to workout in. Our gym honestly reminds me of Planet Fitness, and it gives me a small sense of home in a new city.
I can't wait to continue learning all the ins and outs of the city, all while making many more friends!

Burger Battle 2023, Round 9 - Boca
Burgers aren't exactly traditional tapas fare, but Boca has some impressive history in these competitions. Spanish flavours seem to pair very well with beef, so let's see what the plan is this year.
The smoky serrano burger gives us a seasoned 50/50 beef and pork patty, provolone cheese, crispy serrano, tomato and lettuce with a smoked paprika aioli. That's serrano ham by the way, not serrano peppers. I know, took me by surprise too.
The crispy ham was the best thing on this burger. That wouldn't be a bad thing if there had been more than one thin slice on it. Sadly, nothing else here really stood out as good or bad. Paprika aioli had promise but didn't really assert itself. The patty was fine, the bun was fine...I guess my only real complaint is that I wanted more ham.
I can't say this is a great burger that you should rush to get. I also can't tell you to avoid it. That crispy serrano is enough to push this above the "dead average" tier, but I just wish there had been more to it.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ... To the Spanish. Filipino | Main Dish | Bistek
by Boomboom M. Dalen
Beefsteak
Bistek Tagalog is a traditional meat dish originating from the Philippines. It consists of thinly sliced beef that's marinated and braised in a combination of citrus juice (usually from lemon, lime, or calamansi fruit), onions, garlic, soy sauce, and pepper.
It is believed that the dish was derived after the Spanish bistec encebollado. When properly prepared, the flavors should be savory, salty, and tangy. It's important to use only the freshest beef and the most tender cuts such as top round and sirloin.
The dish is traditionally garnished with pan-fried onion rings on top and served with steamed rice on the side.
Ingredients:
4 tbls vegetable oil
1 piece onion
0.5 kg tip roast sirloin
1 sachet Maggi Magic Sarap
0.25 tsp ground pepper
4 cloves garlic
2 tbls Maggi Soy Cooking And Seasoning Sauce
1 tbl brown sugar
6 pieces calamansi

Filipino | Main Dish | Chicken Curry
by Stephanie L. Dela Piña
Chicken Curry
The Filipino chicken curry recipe definitely had originated from the famous Indian curry dish which can be seen from the spices used but the taste had evolved to specifically cater for the Filipino palate which means it’s not as strong as the original curry and the sauce is a bit thinner. It might have been brought by the Indian soldiers known as Sepoy’s who settled down in Philippines during the British Occupation of the Philippines during (1762-1764).
Ingredients
3 tbsp oil
1 kilogram chicken cut into bite-sized pieces
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, chopped
2 inches ginger, minced
1 pc Knorr Chicken Cubes 10 g
2 tbsp curry powder
1 pack (40 g) Knorr Ginataang Gulay Mix
2 cups water
1 pc carrot, cubed
2 pcs potatoes, diced salt and pepper to taste

Health Benefits of Chicken Curry
The spice blend is rich in anti-inflammatory compounds and consuming it may help reduce oxidative stress, boost heart health, and improve blood sugar levels, among other potential benefits. The best part is that curry powder makes an excellent addition to a wide array of recipe.

Filipino | Soup | Pork Sinigang
by Ma. Rhea B Babarin
Pork Sinigang
Sinigang is a sour soup native to the Philippines. This recipe uses pork as the main ingredient. Other proteins and seafood can also be used. Beef, shrimp, fish are commonly used to cook sinigang. The chicken version, on the other hand, is called sinampalukang manok. I prefer to use either pork belly or buto-buto when cooking sinigang. The latter refers to cuts with bones intact. These are either pork neck bones, chopped spare ribs, and chopped baby back ribs. Pork shoulder and ham can also be used when cooking sinigang.
Ingredients
2 lbs pork belly or buto-buto
1 bunch spinach or kang-kong
3 tablespoons fish sauce
12 pieces string beans sitaw, cut in 2 inch length
2 pieces tomato quartered
3 pieces chili or banana pepper
1 tablespoons cooking oil
2 quarts water
1 piece onion sliced
2 pieces taro gabi, quartered
1 pack sinigang mix good for
2 liters water

Calamares
In 1975, the Mediterranean-born calamari, also known as squid in Italian, quickly spread to North America as a well-liked deep-fried delicacy. If you've never had the magic of calamari, it's a delectable appetizer prepared of squid and deep-fried till it has an enticing crunchy flavor. Calamari is produced by first washing the squid, which is frequently made with European squid. After being deep-fried, it is battered and seasoned with lemon and parsley.
Ingredients
1/2 lb medium to large sized squid cleaned and sliced into rings
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 piece raw egg beaten
3/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cups cooking oil

Antioxidants found in squid can help the body fight free radicals from the air you breathe in every day. These antioxidants increase the efficiency of cells which can prevent cancer. Antioxidants can also help to increase the number of white blood cells that are absent from the process of chemotherapy.
Chock Full of Vitamins and Minerals
Squid contains a high number of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin B-12, potassium, iron, phosphorus and copper. These essential nutrients aid in the performance and health of blood cells, bones and the immune system.
Fights Anemia

Filipino | Main Dish | Spaghetti
by Chil P. Maiso
Spaghetti
Where does spaghetti come from? Although Greek mythology shows the god Vulcan using a device that made strings of dough, it's widely believed “spaghetto” (the singular for spaghetti in Italian) originated in 12th century Palermo, in sunny Sicily.
Spaghetti is a long, thin, solid, cylindrical pasta. It is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine. Like other pasta, spaghetti is made of milled wheat and water and sometimes enriched with vitamins and minerals. Italian spaghetti is typically made from durum wheat semolina.
Ingredients
1 kg of spaghetti noodles
4 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp garlic, minced
1 piece medium onion, chopped
7 tbsp butter
2 tbsp salt
3/4 kg groundbeef
5 pieces hotdog, sliced
560 grams pinoy-style spaghetti sauce
2 pieces boullion beef cubes, dissolved in water
1 bottle banana ketchup
1 cup Eden melt sarap
Procedure
(Click the video below to watch the full tutorial on how to cook Spaghetti)

Health Benefits of Spaghetti
Pasta is the perfect foundation for a healthy, nutritious and satisfying meal. Why? For starters, pasta is the ideal partner for so many other foods, including fibre rich vegetables and beans, heart healthy fish, antioxidant rich tomato sauce and protein packed cheeses, poultry and lean meats.
Pasta also offers:
Sustained Energy: Carbohydrates like pasta provide glucose, the crucial fuel for your brain and muscles. And because pasta is an awesome source of complex carbohydrates (unlike those of the refined and processed variety – yuk), releasing energy at a slow and sustained level, you don’t get the energy spikes associated with simple sugars.
Low Sodium and Cholesterol free: If you’re watching your cholesterol levels, pasta is perfect for you, being very low in sodium and cholesterol free. Per cup, enriched varieties of pasta provide a good sources of several essential nutrients, including iron and B-vitamins.
Olic Acid: Enriched pasta is fortified with folic-acid – essential for women of child-bearing age. A serving of dry pasta supplies the equivalent of roughly 100 micrograms of folic acid, or 25% of the recommended daily intake.
Balanced Diet: Pasta is part of a well-balanced diet, with current Australian Government guidelines suggesting 35% of our daily calories intake should come from complex carbohydrates such as pasta. Combine pasta with lean protein and vegetables for a complete meal that puts you well on the path to hitting those dietary goals!
