“Who--” Her voice was barely a squeak, not even a whisper, and the question caught in her throat. The woods were dark and deep, and while she didn’t fear them herself, this body knew the dangers lurking in it. This body remembered. And when a twig snapped all too close, its heart began to race, its chest began to constrict, and fear rose up in her. An all too mortal emotion. 

She cleared her throat and tried again. “Who’s out there?”
