i’ll share a small snippet of my au oneshot that i wrote. maybe it’s not too horribly written. my friend said it was good

if people are interested maybe i’ll share the whole thing ^^

anyways uhhhh lil thing that i wrote for my dumb lil bedman revival au below the cut. just a note that this is oc x canon so if that ain’t your jam it’s fine ^^

Hikari awoke… who knows how long later. She sat up frantically in a hospital bed, panting as she tried to figure out where she was, only to be met with a rather tranquil sight. A firm hospital bed with a fluffy blanket, an open window that let in a nice breeze, an IV drip in her arm and a bouquet of daisies and lilies on the bedside… And two figures in the corner of the room, one of whom she easily recognized. That’s Asuka! But who’s…

“Well, well, well. Look who’s finally awake.”

Asuka left the room, leaving just the other boy in the room with her. A boy whose mere presence overwhelmed her. He had fluffy lilac hair, half-lidded brown eyes…

“Took you long enough, don’t you think? Honestly, it’s ironic that you were the one who needed medical care.”

He wore a black turtleneck with loose balloon pants, a hoodie wrapped around his waist…

“Usually I’m the one that requires rehabilitation of some kind. I’ve had a history of needing frequent medical assistance, you know this. Yet here I was, sitting here waiting for you to wake up.”

A down arrow hair clip, round glasses, crutches on his arms… She could feel tears forming in her eyes.

“Honestly, Hikari. What happened to you? What did you do? How did you do all this?��

Is that really him..?

Hikari just stared at the boy in front of her, tears in her big blue eyes as she gazed in shock. She felt like she’s dreaming again… If she pinched herself, would she wake up? She opened her mouth, but only a single word left her lips.

“...Romeo?”

The lilac haired boy froze, going silent as he turned to her and raised an eyebrow.

“What? …Oh, don’t jump the gun on me now, what is it?” Romeo announced with his characteristic snark, watching the blue haired yokai intently. He was expecting a smile, or some sort of happy reaction, but he wasn’t expecting what really happened. Hikari sobbed, quickly trying to stand up. She stumbled a little, catching herself with the IV stand as she shakily moved towards the boy.

“Romeo…” She spoke shakily, taking a few more small steps before she broke. Tears ran down her face as she dashed over and pulled him into a hug, crying as she held him close. She wasn’t sad. No, not in the slightest. She was overjoyed. Relieved. Filled with love.

Finally, she succeeded. He was back. For once, and for all.

so a while back i rambled about this au to my friend @aristarxs and i said something about writing a whole ass breakdown scene? well i finally did! all it took was a sad indie rock song to change my brain chemistry and give me ideas so strong they made me cry!

“Romeo, wait!” Hikari cries out, dashing into the boy’s room before he could slam the door on her. Romeo didn’t bother to turn on the lights, and Hikari can only see the way he’s clutching at the sleeve of his hoodie from the light pouring in from the hallway. His body quivers, hands gripping at his arms before he whips around and shouts at the yokai.

“Why are you here?! Why are you still trying to help me after everything I put you through?! I used you, I kicked you around like a stray cat, and yet you’re here! Living with me, helping me care for my sister, serving as essentially my only friend…” Tears begin to flow from Romeo’s chestnut eyes, a scowl on his lips as he stares at the bluenette in pain, “You’re fighting for me. Me, the damn war criminal who exploited you like a Pavlov dog and committed countless crimes! And don’t you dare attempt to act innocent, you were there while I did everything! I never should’ve been brought back! I don’t deserve it! I never will deserve it, I’m a horrible person! So why?! Why are you still by my side..? I manipulated you! I hurt you…” His teeth dig into his lip, biting back the emotions that he hates for being dragged out from the depths of his mind. The silence in the space is broken only by Romeo’s broken breathing, until Hikari’s gentle exhale cuts through the dim room like a knife.

“Romeo… I know. I’m not denying any of the points you’ve made. But just… Look at yourself. You clearly aren’t the same man that you were. You’re crying and lamenting about everything, for one. That’s not like the old you at all!” A soft laugh escapes her while she pauses, “Call me crazy, but to me, you’ve changed.”

…

Romeo’s shoulders slump. His arms go slack as his jaw drops slightly, eyes blank as tears well in them again.

“Damn it, Hikari…”

He bites his lip again, choking on a sob just as he pushes up his glasses and presses his palms to his eyes. His mouth opens to mutter,

“I don’t get you. I don’t get you at all. After everything I’ve done to you, you’re still here… For the first time in so very long, I can’t comprehend why you would…”

��It’s because I love you,” Hikari interjects. This simple statement, only 5 words, is all it took to break the arrogant and cynical man who stands right in from of her.

Romeo falls to his knees with a soft sound of defeat, Hikari rushing up to him with quiet murmurs of apology and consolation leaving her. However, these quiet words fall on deaf ears as the purple haired boy breaks down into tears, screaming into the dark air of his room as he clings desperately to the hem of the shirt dangling around Hikari’s waist like a pleading merchant. The blue haired yokai’s eyebrows furrow, a gentle look in her eyes as she slowly moves to sit on the floor beside her best friend, gently holding his face and wiping his tears as they fall.

“I don’t get it… You should hate me. I hurt you. I hurt you, Hikari…”

“But I don’t, do I?” She smiles, eyes gentle as he cries. He’s still trying to act tough, even as his walls collapse around him. ‘Classic Romeo,’ is all Hikari can think, until for once… He leans into the touch of her hands.

“I’m… I’m so sorry…”

A silent response is all that’s given. A gentle tug, pulling him against her chest and stroking his back as his tears continue to fall.

“This is shameful, you know. Completely deplorable.”

“Not to me.”

…

“Then let me stay close for now. Please.”

okay to those of you who saw my last rb and care about my stupid guilty gear au. i NEED to rant right now. Massive long winded about bedkari (aka bedman x hikari, my stupid ship that’s part of reverie of rebirth) under the cut. Be warned they’re so toxic yuri

i just realized. The cornered pray analogy exactly how the dynamic between Romeo and Hikari is. The lamb preparing for their slaughter specifically is. Exactly them. But the thing is… The roles are swapped in a way.

Romeo, of course, has sheep elements. Those are a huge part of his design- Even in his canon story as well. He’s a lamb being led by a shepherd. He’s naively being led along by Ariels, she calms him when he rebels or lashes out against her, and she led him all the way to his eventual slaughter. He’s the lamb.

But with Hikari, he gets to be the shepherd.

Hikari is a yokai. She’s powerful. I wrote her to be powerful on purpose. She could be fatally wounded and survive, not even batting an eye due to her lack of pain receptors. Which she does. Right when she first meets Romeo. He tries to kill her, and yet she’s unfazed. She doesn’t care. She didn’t feel anything, and she knows she wants to be near him no matter what. All that’s important is pleasing him.

Basically all Hikari knows is Romeo. When she first met him and emotionally latched onto him, she had only recently awoken and still had all her emotions. All her emotions were developed around Romeo’s guidance and treatment of her, which basically just meant being his little assistant, aiding in his war crimes, and associating joy with his slightly harsh treatment.

All Hikari knows is showing her neck and stomach to Romeo.

When comparing the specific animal motifs of both Romeo and Hikari, it’s really fun to see the contrast. Hikari has the designs element of the predator animal, while Romeo has motifs of the prey. However, those roles are swapped in terms of their behavior. Romeo is abrasive and only begins to show care towards his yokai companion after months in his presence, while said companion innocently follows his commands and accepts anything he throws her way- Naively believing every word he says like it’s gospel. A little cat blindly loving the cruel shepherd. It’s a beautiful parallel that honestly was not intentional.
