Address Insect Issues With Bed Bug Pest Control in Milton
For effective eradication of bed bugs in Milton, bed bug pest control services offer the best solution. Unfortunately, some homes face persistent infestations that are challenging to manage, necessitating professional assistance.
Tumblr media
While DIY pest control solutions exist, there's a significant risk of infestations recurring. Investing in professional services ensures the thorough elimination of the problem. You usually end up spending more money on DIY treatments compared to hiring professionals to take care of the job.
If you want to save money, then look for a reliable pest control service that you can trust. Local companies can help you the most since they are nearer to you and can go to you in emergencies.
Although you can't prevent pests from entering your home, you can ensure they are promptly dealt with using the correct procedures. Don't wait until your furniture or home suffers damage due to uncontrollable infestations. Take action to rid your property of harmful pests as soon as possible.
Methods for Managing Bed Bugs
Spotting bed bugs is crucial for effective eradication. These insects are small, flat, and oval-shaped, frequently hiding in areas where they can access human blood, making bedrooms a common target.
While bed bugs typically do not carry diseases, their presence can impact skin health and overall well-being. Discovering bug bites all over your body is a clear indication of a pest infestation in your home.
These bites are intensely itchy and can cause skin damage if left untreated. Bed bugs are challenging to locate, as they usually bite while you sleep and are adept at hiding due to their small size.
Factors That Indicate You Have a Bed Bug Issue
It can help to know the signs of a bed bug infestation in your house. Below are some simple ways to know that you may be dealing with an insect infestation on your property. Try to spot them so you can get rid of them as early as possible.
1. Itchy Sensations and Red Spots on Your Body
A prevalent indication of pests in your vicinity is waking up to discover numerous red spots covering your body. These reddish spots are highly itchy, causing considerable discomfort. You start seeing them the moment that you wake up from a nap or sleep.
Bed bug bites typically exhibit a linear or distinct pattern, distinguishing them from bites caused by ants or mosquitoes. Such bites often appear in a linear formation after waking up. This can help you differentiate insect bites from one another.
2. Presence of Insect Eggs
Female bed bugs lay their eggs in tiny cracks and crevices throughout your home. These oval-shaped eggs are white in color and comparable in size to small fruit seeds. When there are insect eggs, you can be sure that there are colonies hidden around the area.
Locating the nesting area and eggs of these pests requires thorough searching, as they are small and tend to hide in inaccessible places within your home. Try to look for cracks or small crevices that small insects could secretly enter and hide in.
3. Bloodstains on the Mattress
Bed bugs commonly leave blood spots on bedding, furniture, or mattresses. These spots, combined with the presence of bug bites on your body, serve as evidence of a bed bug infestation. You don't have to worry about them since they don’t regularly come from your bed bug bites.
Blood spots may be found on sheets and blankets, as well as near the seams of mattresses or other areas where bed bugs traverse. These spots result from the pests feeding on blood or being inadvertently crushed while you sleep.
4. Wall Spotting
Bed bugs, like other insects, leave behind fecal matter. Common areas to find these dark spots include walls or underneath wallpaper. If your home is infested, you may notice these dark spots throughout various areas of your home.
Inspecting every corner of your home is necessary to identify these spots, indicating the presence of an infestation that requires professional cleaning. Small insects love climbing and hiding in walls, which could explain why wall spotting seems prevalent for these types of infestations.
Tumblr media
5. Unusual and Musty Smell
A distinctive musty scent in a room could indicate a bed bug infestation. This unusual odor suggests that you are dealing with an infestation, as bed bugs communicate through scent, releasing a musky odor.
Clean rooms typically smell fresh and clean, but the presence of an unfamiliar odor suggests the need for more investigation and potential pest control measures. When you can’t find the source of the smell, most likely it’s hidden behind the walls or within small cracks in your property that you can't easily reach.
6. Pest Exoskeletons
Discovering bed bug exoskeletons in your living space signifies an infestation. These white, husky specks resemble dried-up bugs and are shed by bed bugs as they molt and grow. The insects grow in various phases and shedding exoskeletons is part of growing into adulthood.
These exoskeletons are frequently visible on mattresses or along headboards, indicating an active infestation that requires prompt action. When you find these exoskeletons, scan the area for possible hideouts of insect colonies.
7. White Marks on Your Upholstery
White spots on furniture or mattresses may indicate bed bug eggs hidden within small cracks. These spots are a clear sign of infestation and require a thorough inspection of other belongings.
Using a torch can aid in better visibility, as bed bugs tend to hide in narrow crevices. Although locating them may require time and effort, identifying these signs confirms an ongoing infestation that requires attention.
Ensuring That Bed Bugs Do Not Reappear
Even a few missed bugs can lead to another infestation. For immediate and thorough results, consider hiring professionals for pest control. Preventing bed bugs from entering your home entirely is challenging, as they can thrive in various environments.
Don't wait for the pests to spread or get even bigger. Once you find signs that your property has infestations, deal with them as soon as possible. You can have an inspection beforehand and ask for quotes from pest control services that you trust.
However, maintaining cleanliness and regularly changing your sheets can help minimize the risk. Additionally, hiring bed bug pest control in Milton can provide further assistance and peace of mind.

He Doesn’t Deserve You
Pairing: Lin x Reader
Request: “Hi! Could you do a Lin x reader where y/n gets cheated on and he comforts her and it’s friends to lovers and super fluffy?🥺🥰👉🏻👈🏻” - @brian-mayonnaise
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: Cheating and sooooooo much fluff
“Alright I’ll see you tomorrow. Make sure you actually go home and get some rest” I said. I was currently at the Richard Rogers Theater. We had just finished a show and I was talking to my best friend, Mr.Lin-Manuel Miranda. He had a tendency to work too hard, so I was always bugging him to make sure he had time to rest.
“Thank you for your concern. I promise I’ll get some rest. Just for you” he said giving me a hug. I smiled at him and then left his dressing room.
Lin and I had been friends since In The Heights. He pitched the idea of Hamilton to me and I thought it was brilliant. Then he insisted that I play Maria Reynolds. I could never tell my best friend no, so here we were.
Granted, it was a little weird having to kiss my best friend every night. Especially since I had had a crush on Lin when we first met. I quickly realized it would never happen and then I met my current boyfriend, Ryan. Ryan was a great guy and he was charming, but he would never be Lin.
I unlocked my apartment door and I walked inside. “Babe, I’m home” I called out. I heard some commotion in our bedroom. The door was closed and I panicked thinking someone had broken in to the house.
I grabbed the pepper spray that I kept in my purse. I listened closely trying to hear what was going on. Then the door quickly opened and out came Ryan. He shut the door right behind him. I jumped at how suddenly he came into the room.
“Oh it’s just you” I said, with a soft smile. I put my pepper spray back in my purse. I let out a sigh, thinking about how I’d overreacted. I saw that Ryan was just in a robe. “Oh were about to take a shower? I might have to join you” I said, with a smirk and walking toward him.
Then our bedroom door opened again, and a girl walked out. She was also wearing a robe, my robe. “Is this a friend of yours babe?” The girl asked.
I stood their in shock. I couldn’t believe this was happening. I didn’t know whether I should be angry or sad. “You have to be kidding me. You are such an asshole” I yelled as I ran out the door and slammed it shut behind me.
As soon as the door shut, I felt the tears streaming down my face. I had trusted him, we had dated for a year. And he decided to cheat on me.
My mind raced with questions. How long had this been going on? Was this a one time thing? Were there other girls he had been with?
I decided to run to the one person I knew would always be there for me.
I got to Lin’s apartment door and I knocked. I waited and there was no answer. “Of course, he was still at the theater. He is such a workaholic” I thought to myself. I sat down in the hallway and put my head in my hands.
It was then that I lost control of the tears and I just started balling.
I was so embarrassed that I was so upset about this. Ryan didn’t deserve any reaction from me.
Then I heard someone say “Oh my god Y/N?” and run toward me. I looked up and saw Lin kneeling in front of me, with a concerned look on his face.
“What’s wrong?” He asked me, grabbing ahold of one of my hands to comfort me. “I went home and Ryan was with another girl, Lin. What do I do? Did I do something wrong? Was it my fault?” I asked him.
“I am so sorry Y/N” he said as he pulled me into his arms. “None of this is your fault. If Ryan did that, then he is a moron who doesn’t how lucky he was to have you. He doesn’t deserve you and he never did” Lin assured me, as he rocked me back and forth.
So here I was, sitting on the floor outside Lin’s apartment as I balled in his arms and he comforted me. Once I stopped crying as hard, Lin said “Let’s go inside, I’ll make you some tea”.
He helped me up off the ground, and brought me inside. I sat down on his couch and he brought me a blanket and went to make some tea. I wrapped the blanket around myself.
I decided to check my phone. I saw countless texts from Ryan with phrases like “it wasn’t what it looked like” “please just let me explain” and “you’re the only one”.
I threw my phone onto the floor, I couldn’t stand to read the lies. I couldn’t believe I had wasted a whole year of my life dating him.
Lin walked in the room with two cups of tea. He handed one to me and I gratefully took it. “Thank you, I know this isn’t how you thought your night would go” I said. “I’m always here for you” he said to me with a smile.
“Speaking of, you can stay here as long as you like. And if you want time off the show, you can have it for as long as you want” he assured me. Lin has always been so thoughtful and caring. It only made my feelings for him stronger.
I guess I didn’t have to suppress those feelings anymore, since I was no longer in a relationship. That didn’t change the fact that Lin definitely didn’t like me though.
“Thank you, truly. I don’t know if I can go do a show tomorrow. I’ll start with one day off and see how I feel” I told him.
“Like a wise woman once said, “you need to get some rest”. So I’m going to bed and I’ll let you get some sleep” he said, kissing my forehead and going to his room.
I set up the couch that folded into a bed and I heard my phone buzzing on the floor. I figured it was Ryan, but I picked it up anyway. I looked at it and saw it was the Hamilton cast groupchat.
Lin had sent a message in the groupchat saying that I would taking a few days off. There were a bunch of responses, mostly saying get better. Everyone was assuming I was sick, because why else would I not show up.
Then I saw a private message from Pippa. It read “Y/N, I saw Lin’s message. I know you would only not do a show if you were deathly ill. So what’s going on? Are you okay?”. I decided I could tell her the truth.
Y/N: Something happened with Ryan
P: Is he sick?
Y/N: He cheated on me Pippa
P: Oh my god I am so sorry Y/N. Is there anything I can do to help?
Y/N: I don’t think so, I’ll be staying with Lin for the next few days
P: Okay, I’m always here to talk if you need it. I love you sis
Y/N: Love you too, goodnight
Pippa was my closest friend besides Lin. Her, Renée, Jas, and I were all like sisters. I knew my secret was safe with Pippa. I didn’t want everyone in the cast to know. Then, they would all just feel bad for me and I didn’t want their pity.
I put my phone down and fell asleep quickly, tired from the day’s events.
For the next three days, I stayed at Lin’s apartment and missed the shows. Pippa had come over once and brought me icecream and we talked for hours. Our cast mates had been becoming more and more worried. I decided that I was going to do the next show.
Both Lin and Pippa made sure I really was okay, and reassured me that I could take as long as I needed. I knew I had to get back in a routine eventually.
So now I was sitting in my dressing room getting my hair and makeup done for the show. I was blocking out anything I could possibly be thinking about. I wasn’t thinking about Ryan, I wasn’t thinking about my feelings for Lin, my mind was blank. I knew I would get too emotional if I thought about anything like that for too long.
I heard a knock at my door. I looked up and saw Lin peeking his head in. “Oh hi, come in” I said with a smile. “How’re you doing sweetheart?” He asked me, concerned. “I’m feeling ready, hoping this time off won’t make me forget the words” I joked, lightening the mood. “You’re going to do great, okay?” Lin said as he gave me a hug. Then he kissed my forehead before leaving.
I was standing in the wing, getting ready to go on stage. Pippa was standing right next to me and gave me the biggest hug before I went onstage.
We started singing Say No to This, I was doing it completely on autopilot. Still trying to block out all those emotions. We got to the middle of the song and it finally dawned that this scene was exactly like what happened to me. I don’t why it took me so long to connect the two. I realized I was playing the other woman.
Then, I starting thinking about Ryan and how he broke my heart. I knew within seconds I was going to breakdown. I locked eyes with Lin and he knew right away what was happening. I could see his mind spinning, thinking about ways to improv and get me off the stage.
I was holding it together and then all of a sudden, I fell apart right on stage. Leslie was on stage with us at that point. He ran over to me and ushered me off the stage with him. I could hear Lin doing improv and it was actually going well.
Pippa was waiting right there in the wings. She pulled me into her arms and Leslie rushed back on to the stage. “Shh it’ll be okay” she said as held me in a hug. She brought me down to my dressing room and I changed out of my costume, so that my understudy could take over. I assured Pippa that I would be okay so she could leave to go finish the show. I was laying on my dressing room couch in sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
I listened to the whole show and when it got to Burn, I was a complete mess. It completely captured how I had been feeling. Somehow I got through the rest of the show. I heard the show end, then within a minute Lin was in my dressing room.
Within seconds, he had enveloped me in a hug. “I knew doing a show would be too much, I should of stopped you” Lin said into my hair as he hugged me. “I thought I could do it” I told him. “That’s okay, no one expects you to be Wonder Woman and not let emotions affect you. You’re human, it’s bound to happen” he reassured me.
We pulled away and I was transfixed staring into Lin’s eyes. Throughout all of this mess, he had been a constant source of support. He meant so much to me, and everyday I spent with him as I stayed at his house, my feelings only grew stronger.
I couldn’t resist, I found myself leaning in toward him. I realized that he was leaning in too, did this mean after all these years that he liked me too?
Eventually, our lips met and it was magical. I poured all the love I had for him over the years into the kiss. It was like we were both trying to make up for lost time. We both pulled away and just smiled at each other.
Then his smiled faded. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t of done that. You’re going through a lot and I took advantage of that” he apologized quickly. “Don’t you get it Lin?” I asked him. He just had a look of confusion. “It’s always been you, since before Ryan. He was just a distraction. But you’ve always been the one I wanted” I confessed.
“Really?” He asked me. I nodded and before I knew it, he was leaning in to kiss me again. This kiss was shorter, but was just as magical.
“Come on let’s go home, I believe lots of cuddling is in order” Lin said as he grabbed my hand and stood up.

“hey (y/n)?” your mom called upstairs to you. “can you come down here a minute?”
you came down the stairs to find your mom and dad sitting together in the living room. camilla came into the room from the kitchen, and the two of you sat on a couch across from your parents. “what’s up?” you asked.
“we have some bad news about this summer,” your mom started. your heart skipped a beat. you had a feeling you knew what they were gonna say.
“grandma’s boyfriend, kevin, is sick,” she explained. “and he’s not likely to get better before we go, so it wouldn’t be a good idea for us to stay with them.”
your eyes widened. “is he okay?”
“we don’t know, but it’s looking pretty good now,” your mom said gently. “but us potentially exposing him to germs could make him extra sick.”
“couldn’t we just stay somewhere else?” camill suggested.
your mom shook her head. “your dad and i decided it wasn’t worth it, to go and not be able to spend time with grandma. i’m sorry, i know you were both looking forward to it.”
you sighed and rubbed your eyes. you and ricky had already made plans for what you would do when you were in california, and you weren’t sure how you would break the news to him that you wouldn’t be coming. now, you weren’t sure the next time you’d be able to see him in general.
as if on command, as you were thinking about him, your phone buzzed with a text from ricky, asking if you could facetime soon. you texted and said you’d call him asap.
“are you okay with this?” your mom asked you. “i know you were looking forward to seeing ricky.”
“it’s fine,” you said. “i wouldn’t want anything to happen to kevin. and we’ll go back at some point.”
“exactly,” your mom smiled at you. “i’m glad you understand.”
you excused yourself up to your room and facetimed ricky. he answered almost immediately with a grin on his face. “hi love!”
“hey,” you said. “you actually texted at a good time. i have to talk to you.”
ricky hummed. “everything okay?”
“yeah. it’s just...” you sighed. “my parents told me that my grandmas boyfriend is sick.”
“oh, god. that’s awful,” ricky said genuinely. you nodded.
“yeah. and because of that, they said we aren’t going to be able to go to california over the summer.”
ricky’s expression dropped and he didn’t respond for a moment. “but... why not? couldn’t you just stay somewhere else? you could stay with me!”
“i asked, but my mom said she didn’t see a point in going if we couldn’t see my grandma. i’m sorry, ricky. i wish there was a way we could still go but i don’t know how to convince my parents in a way that still keeps kevin safe,” you said. ricky nodded and gave you a weak smile.
“i hate that we can’t see each other,” he started. “but i understand. it’s a tough situation and... i hope kevin gets better quick.”
“me too,” you said.
ricky sighed. “hey, i actually think i’m gonna go now. red’s been bugging me to watch this movie with him all day so...”
“yeah, absolutely,” you said. ricky was obviously upset, and if he wanted to be alone you understood. “hey, i love you.”
“i love you too,” he said. “i’ll text you.”
“okay,” you said. he ended the call and you set your phone on your bed and rubbed your face in frustration. the last thing you wanted to do was disappoint ricky, but there was nothing you could do. you just hoped that you’d find a way to see each other sooner rather than later.

returning to school after common sense dropped was odd. everyone knew who you were now and you were stared at in the halls— but no one actually approached you. you were secretly glad about this; as public as your relationship was, you didn’t want to answer whatever questions about it that someone may ask.
everyone was leaving you alone until lunch. you sat at your table with gina and a few other of your friends when a girl approached you.
“hey, you’re the girl dating ricky bowen, right?” she asked.
you nodded awkwardly. “yeah.”
“oh,” she looked you up and down and you shifted in your seat uncomfortably. “is there anyway you could get him to follow me on twitter or something? or get me tickets to his shows?”
“um... no,” you said. gina was holding back laughter. “i don’t even know you and he’s not someone i can just control and get stuff from. sorry.”
the girl looked deeply offended. “fine. bitch.”
gina burst out laughing and the girl left, her face red. you gave gina an amused look and she shook her head.
“oh my god (y/n), that’s what you’re going to be dealing with for the rest of your life,” she said once she stopped laughing. “a public high school and dating someone famous? not a good mixture.”
“yeah, don’t i know,” you laughed. “good thing we are graduating this year, huh.”
“crazy,” gina said. “can’t believe we only have a few months of school left.”
“i know,” you said. “what are your plans after graduation?”
“i’m not completely sure, but i’d love to do something in the arts,” she said. “might end up doing a year abroad for the experience.”
“you’d be a great actress. or singer. or dancer,” you said. “you’d be pretty great at anything, really.”
she laughed. “thank you. what are your plans?”
“i guess i’m not completely sure yet,” you said. “working in film has always sounded appealing. but i don’t know.”
“you still have time,” she said. “you don’t have to start right after we graduate. lots of people take gap years.”
“you’re right,” you said. “i guess i have some thinking to do.”

Heat Treatment for Bed Bugs in Kitchener - What is the Cost
Tumblr media
Bed bug heat treatment is the latest method for exterminating bed bugs in Kitchener. For many years, homeowners and pest management professionals have been searching for new ways to effectively kill bed bugs. This treatment using extremely high temperatures has so far proven to be the best and only true method that’s 100% effective and environmentally friendly for bed bug extermination.
What is the Best Bed Bugs Treatment?
Bed bugs are incredibly difficult pests to get rid of. They can survive for long periods of time without food. They are also so good at hiding in tiny cracks and crevices to escape chemicals and sprays. What’s more, the modern bug populations have become highly resistant to the insecticides used by professional exterminators developed in the 1970s so those no longer work for their control.
The best bed bug treatment is to hire a professional exterminator. A trained pro will handle the service safely and effectively. Plus, you can avoid the risk of harm to yourself or your property.
Bed Bug Extermination Costs Using Insecticides
Home and property owners can spend anywhere from $500 to thousands for the service of a professional exterminator. The total cost largely depends on several factors:
Level of infestation,
Size of the infested area,
Number of applications required,
The location, and
The type of treatment.
Professional exterminators can charge as little as $300 for a small problem. To clear a large infestation, the range could go into the thousands. You may also need integrated pest management which uses a combination of treatments and procedures for eradication and bed bug prevention.
Also, you may need two to three visits to thoroughly eradicate these pests. A University of Massachusetts study showed that most bed bug extermination services usually require multiple visits:
68% of bed bug infestations require three or more treatments
26% require two treatments
6% require one treatment.
As a general guide, the more labor and product you will need to use, the more you will have to pay.
Another factor that will affect cost is if you live in an area with high rates of infestations, including the top 10 most bug-infested Canadian cities:
Toronto
Winnipeg
Vancouver
St. John's
Ottawa
Scarborough
Halifax
Oshawa
Sudbury
Hamilton
Cost of Bed Bugs Heat Treatment in Kitchener
Bed bug thermal heat treatment is one of the most popular types of treatments used for infestations. It gained popularity primarily because it is eco-friendly and non-toxic and is safe for humans, pets, plants, water systems, and the surrounding environment.
It’s also in demand because the process is fast. It can actually eliminate an infestation in hours, depending on the extent of the infestation.
Heat is also practical and can be applied in many ways, making it perfectly marketable. Pest management companies that specialize in bed bug control use heat in various applications as part of their treatment process. Portable heat chambers and hot dryers are used to kill bed bugs in infested household items. Larger heating systems can be used for eradication in entire rooms and structures.
Heat treatment is generally considered the most effective bed bug killer, but it is also the most expensive procedure. However, once you take into account that heat treatment is applied only once, rather than multiple times with chemical treatments, the gap on price quickly closes.
Costs can run between $1 and $3 per square foot, with the average homeowner paying $2,000 to $4,000 total. For larger homes with severe problems or whole apartment or condo buildings, the cost would be higher.
Tumblr media
The bed bug heat treatment requires the use of industrial-strength fans, temperature-regulated industrial heaters, and sensors to raise the temperature of the space to between 45 and 50 degrees Celsius. Bed bugs cannot tolerate high levels of heat and can quickly die within 90 minutes at 118°F (48°C) or immediately at 122°F (50°C) for less than one minute. Heat is sustained for most of the day to penetrate deep into cold spots in the room, such as furniture, electrical outlets and tiny cracks in walls and floors.
Heat treatment simply creates a heated atmosphere where it’s hard for the bugs to survive. Sustained heat is a sure shot technique of wiping out an infestation – including adults, larvae and even eggs. If a higher level of heat is applied quickly, the sudden change in temperature does not give the insects any time to migrate to cooler areas.
An entire bed bug problem can be successfully eliminated with only one treatment. This reduces costly return visits, which is common in traditional bed bug extermination methods.
The heat treatment method on its own does not use pesticides so it does not leave residuals. Residuals are residue chemicals that are left behind after chemical treatments are applied as preventive measures to stave off a recurrence.
The whole process can be done in just one day, so home and business owners can quickly get back to their normal routine without much fuss.
Benefits Of Using Heat Treatment for Bed Bugs
Heat does not use pesticides, so it leaves no residuals from chemicals.
Heat kills all life stages of bed bugs, from eggs to adults.
The heat method requires only one treatment visit.
The application can be done in just one day.
No need for costly follow-up visits.
It’s quick and convenient, no need to be displaced.
Heat can easily travel hard-to-reach cooler places.
Heat can kill even chemical-resistant bugs.
Looking for Bed Bug Pest Control in Kitchener
The biggest drawback to the bed bug heat treatment is its price. The cost is significantly higher than conventional treatments largely in part because the equipment used is expensive, and it requires a multiple crew of certified pest professionals to get the job done right. However, you save money as only one application is required.
The heat treatment for eliminating bed bugs in Kitchener is the perfect option for homeowners and property managers who want an effective solution that only needs a onetime application and is 100% eco-friendly.

my big mood today is an au where levihan is living the west coast life and going to the city to buy good bread and go biking next to the sea-side and maybe crossing the bridge as they the weather is so cold but they feel so warm from the exercise and each other's love <3
A Day Well Spent
He kneeled at the bedside, already dressed for the day with every intention to drag her out of the bed. However, as he stared into her sleeping face, the words died down his throat.
Her messy brown hair was everywhere, and she snored, mouth slightly agape, tiny hints of drool slipping from her mouth. He had already allotted himself time this morning to watch her for a couple of minutes before he got up and prepared breakfast, which was already waiting for them in the dining room. He had been incredibly tempted to just stay in bed with her all day, but he had already agreed with her plans, which, ironically, she had to be reminded of herself.
He carefully tucked a handful of hair behind her ear and traced his hand towards her bare arm, shaking it lightly. “Oi, four-eyes. Wake up. We’re gonna be stuck in rush hour.”
Hange groaned in her sleep. She lifted her arm and started waving her hand around until it finally smacked against his face. Levi sighed and took her hand in his, squeezing it lightly.
“Five more minutes, clean freak,” she yawned, “five more minutes.”
“It’s already nine, for fuck’s sake,” Levi said firmly. Hange huffed and squeezed her eyes, even more, crumpling her face a bit. Levi shook her again with a little more force. “You were the one who kept bugging me about going out today, so stick with your plan.”
Hange groaned louder and draped an arm over her eyes, shifting her body so that it was facing away from him. “It’s not my fault you’re so good in bed,” she complained, “I’m still exhausted as fuck.”
Levi sighed again, knowing that he now had to stick to his initial plan. He stood up, cracked his knuckles, and tore off the blanket that covered her bare body. Hange let out a loud shriek in surprise but had little time to react when he swiftly picked her up and carried her towards the bathroom.
The position was rather awkward, given their height difference, but Levi had already done this multiple times whenever she refused to take a bath herself. Hange normally didn’t complain, but this time, she was swatting his arm and growling like an animal. “I would have gotten up in five minutes you kn--”
She didn’t finish her sentence as Levi plopped her right into the bathtub.
“What the fuck?!” Hange screeched, feeling the water envelop her skin. She yelped, spilling some of it on the floor.
“I didn’t want to have to do this, four-eyes, but you left me with no choice,” Levi said as he crossed his arms. “Now you better hurry up or I’m leaving your ass in thirty minutes.”
Hange huffed. Of course, he’d already prepared a bath and everything. However, the annoyance she felt slowly died down as she noted the warmness of the water and the strong scent of lavender. She poked at some of the bubbles and felt her frown turn into a wide grin.
Levi scoffed and raised an eyebrow. “The fuck are you so happy about?”
“Oh, nothing.” Hange sang as she eased into the tub, feeling her muscles relax. She sighed comfortably and looked at him. “Just how much I love you.”
She grinned even wider as he was visibly taken aback, an unmistakable blush dusting his pale cheeks. “Just hurry up and wipe your ass,” he grumbled, suddenly turning shy and looking away. “I don’t wanna be stuck in traffic all day.”
“Aren’t you going to do it for me?” Hange pouted. She did her best puppy eyes, knowing it always had at least a fifty percent chance of working on him.
“Nice try,” Levi said as he swiftly walked out of the room. “Save your begging for later.”
As he shut the door behind him, Hange couldn’t help but giggle. He really was something else.
--------
The weather was finally turning cooler after months of excessive heat, so she was glad to finally be able to wear that soft, yellow sweater Nanaba had gotten for her on her birthday. She finished dressing, leaving her damp hair to dry first, and went out of the bedroom. She found Levi in the kitchen, sipping his morning tea.
Levi glanced up as he heard her walking in, and Hange observed how he stared at her a second longer before glancing down and taking another sip. “Took you long enough.”
Hange then noticed the plate of eggs and toast on the dining table, as well as her usual mug of coffee. “Thanks for breakfast, Levi!” she happily exclaimed as she took her usual seat, Levi joining her afterward.
They took their breakfasts quickly, seeing as they had a couple of places they needed to get to that day. In twenty minutes, they were already on the freeway, and much to Levi’s pleasant surprise, the traffic wasn’t as bad as he thought. The whole ride would have been perfect if only Hange didn’t control the music. Hopefully, she’d let him play his playlist when they drove to their next stop. He didn’t know if he could handle listening to her rap “My Shot” from the Hamilton soundtrack seven more times. He appreciated the music, but what he didn’t appreciate was her screeching every. single. word.
They got to the Farmer’s Market before noon and Levi managed to secure a parking spot by her favorite pastry stall. “Remember, we’re getting bread and fruit. Don’t you dare buy a fucking fish like last time.” He reminded Hange as they got out of the car. He walked around and met her eyes, already seeing the excitement in them.
“But that was so fun!” Hange complained. She immediately hooked her arm to his and started dragging him to the first stall.
“I went to the bathroom for ten minutes and the next thing I know you made your own campfire in Santa Monica and tried cooking an actual fish in it,” Levi emphasized. They stopped right in front of her favorite shop where she glanced at all the decadent options that laid in front of her. “You were fucking lucky that Arlert kid worked there and helped cover it up, otherwise, they would have probably arrested your shitty ass.”
Before Hange could reply, the old woman who managed the store finally saw and greeted them. “Oh, how nice to see you again Dr. Zoe! Mr. Ackerman.”
Levi nodded at the woman while Hange gave her a big wave. “Hi, Kate! We’ll have the usual. And maybe a box of these blueberry tarts. Thank you!” She smiled brightly.
Kate instantly returned the smile. “Of course. Half a dozen of chocolate croissants and a box of blueberry tarts coming right up, dear.”
Hange finally glanced down at Levi as Kate was busy grabbing the pastries. “Isn’t Armin such a sweet kid? He also works so hard at the lab, even if he’s an unpaid intern. I already promised him a superb letter of recommendation when he graduates, which makes us even I guess.”
Levi rolled his eyes. She was definitely shaping up Arlert to replace Moblit, should he finally die from stress from making sure she doesn’t blow herself up at work. Even though he never showed it (and never will) he was grateful for those two for taking care of her when he couldn’t.
“You need to stop watching those survival shows on Netflix,” Levi said as Kate started wrapping up their purchases. “Next thing I know, you’re gonna attempt to eat your own shit.”
Hange let out a large bark of laughter. She then bumped her shoulder against his. “My shit would probably taste really good though, you gotta admit.”
“Here you go, sweetie,” Kate said as she handed Hange a paper bag. Levi started to take out his wallet when the old woman stopped him. “Oh, don’t worry about it. It’s on the house today!”
“But Kate--” Hange started to protest. The old woman placed a hand on her shoulder to silence her.
“You two come here every Sunday, and it always warms my heart to see how sweet you are. That’s very rare for couples these days.” Kate smiled, “Don’t worry about it. I’ll let you pay next week, alright?”
Hange then gave her a big hug which made the old woman chuckle in delight. She returned the gesture and glanced at Levi, who nodded his head in gratitude.
They eventually pulled apart, and before they exchanged goodbyes, Kate walked up to Levi and whispered: “Take care of that one, okay? She’s a keeper.”
He glanced discreetly at Hange, drinking in her appearance and fighting the small grin that threatened to appear on his face. He returned his gaze to the old woman and spoke quietly: “You have no idea.”
It was after they purchased more food from the other stalls did Hange finally ask what the old woman told him.
“Oh, nothing.” Levi responded, the bright flower shop at the end of the hall catching his eye, “Just how much your shit would taste good.”
Hange laughed out loudly, gaining the attention of the people near them. Levi finally felt his lips turn upright at the sight of her happy face.
“I knew it.”
-------
They reached the beach after an hour-long drive that mainly consisted of fighting over playing yet another Hamilton song or Levi’s alternative rock and classical playlist. They eventually came up to the agreement where Hange was allowed to sing one Hamilton song and listen quietly to the rest. If she failed to do so, then she had to play Levi’s music. Suffice to say, Levi was finally able to enjoy at least some parts of the drive.
There was a park that was situated exactly next to the beach which was the perfect spot for lunch. Hange normally persuaded him to have a picnic in the sand, despite the obvious discomfort he had, but after seeing all the trouble she put him through last time with the fish situation, she was more than okay to eat at a picnic table at the park.
Hange felt herself instantly relax as the cool, salty air entered her lungs. She stretched out her limbs after being cooped up in the car for so long and closed her eyes, enjoying the breeze.
As much as she loved her job and the people she worked with, she was glad to have these nice days off -- especially with Levi by her side.
“Oi, instead of standing around like an idiot, why don’t you help out shitty glasses?” Levi called out as he opened the trunk and grabbed some of the bags of food they had bought.
Hange broke from her trance and did exactly that. They found a nice table and Levi got to working with placing a picnic blanket over it as Hange started to pull out and prepare the boxes of food and bottles of beverages. As they worked, Hange couldn’t help but discreetly glance at Levi as he neatly arranged the other boxes of food, his strong figure visibly relaxed, and his face calm, even though it had its usual stoic expression. The breeze picked up a little, slightly ruffling his dark locks as he concentrated on making sure nothing flew away.
“Take a picture, it lasts longer,” he said without looking at her. Hange couldn’t help but laugh at being caught, and she shrugged before sitting down, her hands making its way to the first box of pastries. “Eh. I already have too many photos of your constipated face on my phone. It almost makes me look like a stalker. Though that would be an interesting concept.” She bit into the croissant and sighed at its wonderful flavor.
Levi scoffed and sat across from her before grabbing a sandwich. “It’s not hard to imagine. I bet you already have some weird fucking shrine of me in your lab or some shit.”
Hange gasped, a couple of crumbs falling from her face. “How’d you find out?! I thought I hid it so well.”
Levi pursed his lips in amusement as Hange grinned at him. They ate in silence for a bit before falling into an easy conversation about their respective work and what they had missed talking about the past week. Hange excitedly talked about the new developments in the lab and the experiments she was thinking of proposing soon. In turn, Levi updated her on how he and Erwin were close to securing a deal with one of their potential investors.
They finished their food and after cleaning up and putting some of it back in the car, they proceeded to walk together by the seaside. Levi wasn’t keen on stepping into the sand at all this time, and Hange conceded. It wasn’t long before their hands were firmly clasped together as they walked, and they went on, passing by surfers and other beachgoers who also enjoyed a rather gentle sun and cold breeze. They inserted some personal commentary on each person they found interesting -- which varied immensely from a street performer to an old couple who wore swimsuits that left little for the imagination.
“Look, Levi!” Hange stopped and pointed to a bike rental stall. “Can we go?”
It wasn’t as if Levi had much choice, so he simply agreed.
After paying the rent (and sanitizing the handles on Levi’s part), they rode their bikes and followed the convenient trail specifically made for them. Hange, with her strong and long legs, obnoxiously went faster than him. “Oi, Hange! Slow down will you?” Levi called out. “It’s not a fucking race!”
Though he commended the effort, there was still no way she could outrun the man who actually had a fixed gym schedule. “The fuck, four-eyes?” he said as they finally pedaled side by side.
“Why, I thought you’d actually appreciate looking at my backside, short stuff,” Hange said, not bothering to look at him. “Your loss, I guess!” she called out.
She smiled smugly to herself as Levi took the bait and slowed down behind her. After a few seconds, she called out again: “Take a picture! It lasts longer!”
-------
They left the beach an hour before sunset, and this time, the drive to their last location was a calmer one -- Hange filling the air with more comments about the people and things they observed.
Levi glanced at her from time to time, the colors of the sky lighting her face. She went on and on about the man on the beach whose lover looked more like his daughter, about Kate and how they should give her something special next week as a thank you present, about her work agenda tomorrow and how she wanted to set up Moblit with Nifa, and what their plans were going to be next Sunday. Levi took it all in -- the sound of her voice, how she chuckled and laughed, her thoughtfulness towards others -- he took it all in and felt an overwhelming amount of happiness just by being there and listening to her.
Hange couldn’t help but do the same. Every time she sprouted something, she looked at his reaction and was pleased to see his amused expression. He looked positively gorgeous there behind the steering wheel, and she knew that he was listening to her every word despite it being nonsense to him. The moment he placed his hand in between them, she grabbed it immediately. Though he said nothing, she knew he was as happy as her.
They had gotten to the Observatory by the time the sun started sinking, and they pulled up near a bench with an incredible view of Los Angeles laid out in front of them. Hange immediately went down and sat, but Levi had other plans as he mysteriously went to the trunk and took out something from a bag. Hange stared at him in amusement as he closed it and presented her with a bouquet of sunflowers that matched her sweater perfectly.
“You haven’t studied these yet, right?” Levi asked. Hange smiled warmly and took it, admiring its beauty. He then sat down next to her, his face neutral.
“They’re beautiful.” Hange noted, “and yep. I haven’t yet.” She loved to study flowers and plants as a hobby, and Levi almost always provides her with them, even if he constantly argued he got them for free somewhere.
“They were giving them out in the market while you were in the bathroom.” Levi shrugged, keeping his face expressionless. “Thought you’d need something to work on in your free time.”
Hange hugged his side, giggling at his obviously constipated face. He draped an arm around her and they stayed that way for a good amount of time.
“You’re too kind, Levi,” Hange said, her voice muffled against his shoulder. “And you’re also a terrible liar.”
“Shut the fuck up, shitty glasses.”
Hange laughed again -- she seriously couldn't stop laughing when she was with him -- and pulled away, placing the flowers onto her other side. “So.” she started, now looking at the view that laid in front of them. “What are we doing next Sunday? I believe it’s your turn to pick.”
Levi already had the answer to that question. “We’re staying in.”
Hange raised an eyebrow, “Again? Don’t you want to try out that new tea place downtown?”
Levi shook his head and thought about how he seldom had the time to just laze around in bed with her -- especially given their often hectic work schedules. He thought about this morning, her calm and serene face, the drool from lips, her messy hair -- and he knew he wanted to bask in that silence, to stare at her face for as long as possible. Though today, he had to admit, was also a day well spent.
Hange understood and smiled softly. They wrapped their arms around one another, the cold air unable to penetrate the warmth from the love they deeply shared.
It was a day well spent indeed.

Sometimes when I'm adventuring, I notice things about myself that make me chuckle.
Bugs, for instance.
Before booking a hotel, I scour the latest reviews for any indication of a bed bug infestation.
On arrival, my first order of business is checking the edges of the mattresses and box spring and such, looking for telltale black dots of blood droppings.
So far, thankfully, either but luck or fate, I haven't found or had to deal with any.
No bugs.
No thank you.
Meanwhile.
I'm out in a camp ground, I set up my bivy shelter, leaving the flap open for access as I wander off to the washroom or exploring.
Come back, whups.
Fish out the ants/spiders/mosquitos/etc that have wandered inside while I was gone.
Make a mental note to close the flap before leaving.
Never remember.
Scoop more bugs out.
So what is it about "wild bugs" that has me so blase, but "inside bugs" that puts me on edge?
--------
We had bedbugs in our apartment once, several years ago, it seemed almost everyone in Hamilton did, and they care nothing for social status or your bank account.
Even knowing that "anyone can get them, it doesn't mean you're dirty," the shame I felt knowing we had fallen victim to the recent upswell of infestations, the dots of itchy red welts along my back, the fear I might somehow "transmit" them to my coworkers...
Well, suffice to say it left enough of a mental trauma to be adamant about not experiencing it again.
Maybe that's it, then. The social stigma aspect of it.
Or the unknown factor of time.
A mosquito bite is a mosquito bite. It feeds once, then buzzes off, and you never see her again.
Bedbugs come out again and again, hunting you down, making more to find you.
-shivers-
I wish I had advice for dealing with them, I really do.
I was attempting a self-experiment using these skin patches that released a vitamin into your system that was supposed to "taint" your blood and make it unappetizing to mosquitos. I'd had good luck with the patches while camping. Logic being "they both eat blood, maybe it'll work?"
Except then the little bastards ~went away~ and without a control group I have no idea if the patch worked, or they all just spontaneously imploded, or what.
And I'm not keen to find another batch and recreate the scenario.

“How long have you known?” The truth of your sister’s knowledge stung like a freshly open wound even though it didn’t surprise you. She’d always been the most secretive, the most manipulative, the most controlling of your siblings. You looked Natalie in the eye, her hazel irises expanding as she avoided your stare.
“A week or so,” she finally admitted.
“Natalie, you should have told me,” you paused in disbelief at your sister’s treachery. “Negan has scouts from here to Timbuktu watching the roads to the other communities. Did you think about that?” You walked past your father who couldn’t stop staring at the goodbye note Alex had written him, speechless on his bunk.
“And risked you blabbing your mouth to Doctor Carson or anyone else who walked into the infirmary?” She rose her eyebrows accusingly. “I don’t think so.”
“I don’t blab my mouth!” You defended, folding your arms across your chest.
“No, but you’re a bad liar, and so is dad. I couldn’t risk telling either of you.” She pointed to him.
“Hey!” He interjected, looking up from the letter. “I can keep a secret!”
You both pursed your lips, rolling your eyes as you remembered all the times he verbalized his innermost thoughts at the most inappropriate times.
“Alright, I’ll give you dad, but why didn’t you go just with them? Why are you still here? You hate it here.” You took a few steps forward, leaving only a foot of space between you.
“Somebody had to take care of him.” She nodded toward your father. “You’re already maxed out on points with your job, so I thought that when Negan found out they’d escaped he’d want…” her eyes darted over you nervously. “I thought that he’d want more from us.”
“And you thought that he’d want you, huh?” You swallowed hard, her confidence never ceasing to amaze you.
“Well yeah, I mean, what else could I do? I majored in cosmetology, I can’t…” she glanced around the room frantically, “Fix people when they’re hurt or build structures for the Sanctuary. I’m not like you and dad, okay?”
“So you were just going to… what? Fuck your way out of this like you fuck your way out of everything else?” Years of resentment began to manifest itself as anger, fanning a flame that burnt hot on your cheeks as your words became more candid.
“Looks like you beat me to it.” She tilted her head, glancing at your fresh bruises. “I was surprised you even remembered how to spread your legs at all.”
Your mouth fell open as your sister’s words hit the air, cutting you deep.
“Okay,” you started, putting a cautionary hand in the air, “It wasn’t even like that, and just so you know, I’ve spread my legs plenty.”
“Oh yeah? And how long ago was that?” Her eyes widened in judgement. “Negan needs someone with experience, not someone like you.”
“At least I haven’t slept with half the sanctuary already!” You couldn’t believe you were being prude-shamed by your own flesh and blood. “And just so you know, I’ve been focused on my career, doing my part to keep the whole family be safe, not trying to get my rocks off every chance I get!”
“That’s what I’m trying to do!” She screamed desperately, her jugular vein distending in her neck. “We can’t risk you getting overwhelmed with intimacy like you ALWAYS do. If anyone was made for this, it was me.” She clenched her jaw as she stared you down, her expression as dire as her words. “This is life or death, and we can’t mess this up.”
“Girls,” your father interjected, standing up. “Your mother’s out there with your brother somewhere. The last thing she’d want you to do is fight.”
“We’re not fighting, we’re having a conversation,” you whispered through gritted teeth. Those very words were often uttered by your mother after hours of screaming between them while you and your siblings huddled together at the top of the stairs.
He gave you a knowing glance and continued, “This has to stop.” He folded the piece of paper in half, in fourths, then in eighths before putting it in that tiny little pocket in the front of his jeans. “Negan made his choice, and we have to honor that.”
“I will if she does,” Natalie hissed.
“Alright,” you smirked, exposing both palms. “I’ll see you guys later.”
——————-
You tried your best to distract yourself, to put that horrid conversation in the back of your mind as you opened the latest novel Alex had lent you: Clear and Present Danger. Jesus, that sounded a little too close to home, didn’t it? You soldiered through the first few pages, not being able to focus on the words in front of you at all. You felt yourself reading the same sentence three times over before actually registering what it was trying to say. Nothing against Tom Clancy, but you just weren’t in the mood to read.
God, you missed movies.
Instead you decided to get some air, to change the scenery of these bland concrete walls to help improve your mood. You pushed into the heavy metal door at the end of the hallway, its hinges squeaking loudly against the rusted metal of the frame as you walked through the threshold and into the wet summer heat. The hum from the electric light in the corner of the building mixed with with the buzz of batted wings as moths and mosquitoes battled for dominance in an ambient summer chorus. At least these bugs would bite and suck your blood without judgement.
You let the door slam shut behind you, hearing it catch on the cinder block that kept it open for whoever else was out here. You were hoping to be alone for a few minutes but with the Sanctuary’s security protocols, the likelihood of that was very slim. Whoever was out here would be light years better company than your sister or that book.
“The hell are you doing out here?” The female Savior turned to face you, her M-16 at the ready. Oh thank God, it was only Laura.
“Can’t sleep,” you confessed, feigning to raise your hands in surrender.
“You never have trouble sleeping.” She loosened the grip on her weapon, letting go of it completely to let it hang by the strap on her shoulders. “You wanna talk about it?” She jested, turning away before you could even answer.
“Not really,” you whispered.
One of the perks of being a nurse at the Sanctuary was earning the inherent trust of most of its residents. Workers and Saviors alike all came to you and Doctor Carson in their times of need, putting their lives and comfort in your hands. Laura was one of those people about a year ago, getting shot in the stomach by a vagrant traveler when she hobbled into the infirmary covered in blood.
You remembered stitching her up while Doctor Carson was busy with an amputation next door, feeding her antibiotics and a few extra painkillers when no one else was looking. Ever since then she’d always looked out for you, grabbing extra medical supplies and candy when she went out on runs. She even went as far as bringing you a new stethoscope one time. You guessed she was the closest thing you had to a friend in the apocalypse.
“Good.” She walked over to the picnic table and picked up a thermos full of piping hot coffee. Despite the sticky heat that surrounded you both, she pursed her lips around the metal lid, blowing on the black liquid to cool it down. Taking a tentative sip, she smiled as the jolt of caffeine rushed through her veins, offering some to you in return.
You took the gift from your friend, hoping it would keep you awake long enough to avoid your bed until your sister’s words left your memory. ‘I’m surprised you remembered how to spread your legs at all’ … unbelievable! The coffee was bitter, and no help in washing away those awfully fresh memories. Maybe what you needed was a stronger drink, something with alcohol in it.
“Simon said he couldn’t find your family at Hilltop; they just got back.” Laura took her thermos back from you, sipping again before placing it gently on the picnic table.
“Thanks,” you replied somberly, knowing of only one other community they could be at. “Hopefully they find them soon.” You lied through your teeth, even to Laura whose kindness set her apart from the rest of the Saviors. You’d take your peace of mind any way you could get it.
“Negan will probably search The Kingdom tomorrow. He sounded pretty pissed that Simon didn’t bring them back tonight.” She leaned her back against the table.
“Yeah, I figured he would go there first,” you whispered, hoping he was miles away from any community Negan had on his radar.
Negan… Negan… oh shit, didn’t he say he was going to stop by tonight? Shouldn’t you be in your apartment graciously waiting for him to come over and…
“You should try to get some rest,” Laura interrupted your thoughts. “He’ll want you on your A-Game tomorrow.”
